The Poliwag stared motionlessly at the good Professor for a moment, its brow furrowed, before it started wiggling aggressively and chaotically, attempting to free itself from the hook while still holding onto the tasty berry snack. It splashed water on everyone involved, its determination infallible. It pulled, it twisted, refusing to accept failure as a possible outcome. Eventually, with a loud snap, it managed to free itself from the hook and landed on the jetty with an aggressive stance, angrily chewing the berry. Slapping its tail on the wooden surface, the tadpole critter glared daggers at everyone. It was not going to give up without a fight. " You come to MY house, dangle food in front of MY nose, pull me out of the water and disrespect me, and think I'm going to go with you without having a problem?!" it peeped angrily, stomping its little foot. At any point, it was ready to attack, whether human or Marill, it made no difference. The Poliwag became startled by the Professor getting a dark Poké Ball so close to it. It finally attacked, slapping the device out of Oak's grasp, sending it rolling a short distance away. Thinking the immediate danger was over, it prepared to attack again, this time targeting Oak himself... before the Dusk Ball opened and swallowed the creature whole into its abyss. It fought against the device with all its might, shaking it violently once, twice, thrice, before it could escape no more. A click rang loud, and the Poké Ball stopped moving for good. Poliwag effectively caught itself. Well, that was embarrassing. SUCCESS!!!Marley gained 3 levels and is now level 7!

With a resounding click, the Dusk Ball sealed the blue tadpole inside, capturing it in an unexpected turn of events. Oak blinked in surprise before picking up the ball and tucking it securely in his pocket. Despite the golden Magikarp eluding him once again, tonight had been a success. Two new additions to his team in a single outing – that wasn't something to scoff at!
PoliwagName: Puddles Gender: Male ♂Level: 10 OT: Professor Oak Moves: Water Gun, Hypnosis, Pound Ability: Water Absorb Nature/Personality: Puddles is named after his favourite playground where he'd launch himself belly-flopping into the biggest ones, sending joyous splashes skyward. Sun is nice for drying off but rain means playtime! He'd dart around in any downpour, his infectious nature bubbly and carefree.
"Well, wouldn't you know it," Oak mused to himself. "Seems tonight wasn't about catching a flashy Magikarp but about finding a couple of unexpected specimens." He turned to Justin, who was staring at him with an expression of incredulity and admiration. "Looks like neither of us snagged that elusive golden fish," Oak remarked, his voice laced with good humour.
"Not tonight," Justin conceded, a chuckle escaping him. "But hey, a Poliwag and a Tentacool in one night? That's a pretty good haul if you ask me!"
Oak couldn't agree more. Sure, the mythical Magikarp remained a tantalising prospect but the thrill of discovery and the potential these new Pokémon held was undeniable. He glanced around, taking in the rapidly rising water before turning to Justin and extending his hand with a warm smile. "Well, the tide's certainly coming in strong. Think it's time we called it a night, wouldn't you?"
Justin nodded in agreement, returning the handshake with a firm grip. "Absolutely. Quite the adventure we've had tonight."
With their fishing excursion coming to an unexpected but eventful close, Oak and Justin bid each other farewell, packed their equipment and exchanged well wishes for the journey home. As Justin made his way back towards town, Oak turned his attention to finding a place to spend the night, following the jetty’s path beneath the grand expanse of the Magnet Train’s steel arteries before navigating deep into the woods along Route 32.
Surveying the surrounding wilderness, Oak spotted a comfortable spot underneath a sturdy tree. With a contented sigh, he settled down on a bed of soft earth and leaves. Viri, his loyal Ivysaur, lumbered over and nestled beside him, her tender fronds rustling in the balmy nighttime breeze. Gazing at the delicate bloom adorning Viri's back, Oak marvelled at its beauty, the moonlight casting a soft glow upon her petals. Leaning closer, he was greeted by an intoxicating aroma – a sweet infusion composed of the delicate sweetness of honeysuckle, the crisp tang of a summer apple orchard and a hint of vanilla essence.
The fragrance wasn't overpowering but rather a gentle invitation, one that promised peace and serenity. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply, letting the sweet perfume wash over him. It was like sinking into a cloud of spun sugar, as comforting as a warm hug on a cold day. The worries of the day, the long journey ahead, all seemed to melt away, replaced by a deep sense of calm.
A wave of summer heat washed over Oak, the scent of freshly cut grass filling his senses. He blinked his eyes, finding himself standing knee-deep in the emerald expanse of the National Park in Goldenrod City. A gentle breeze weaved through the verdant meadow, carrying with it the liquid notes of water flowing from an ornate fountain nearby. Its tiers sparkled in the golden sunlight, each level cascading into the next with a soporific gurgling sound. Viri, padded beside him, basking in the warmth.
A flash of movement in the tall grass caught Oak's eye. A Bug Catcher, clad in a singlet and shorts, was frantically swishing his net, muttering frustratedly under his breath. The rhythmic swish of the net was punctuated by the buzzing of angry insects evading capture.
"Looks like that fellow’s having trouble," a voice spoke up next to him. Oak turned to see a Cooltrainer with a shock of cobalt hair who extended a friendly hand, a broad smile plastered across his face. "The name's Nick. First time at the Bug Catching Contest, I assume?"
Oak, caught in the dreamlike haze, shook Nick's hand, his voice strangely distant. "Professor Oak," he managed, his own attire inexplicably transformed into a simple pair of khakis and a button-down shirt. Nick chuckled, his blue eyes twinkling.
"Ah, Professor! Well then, allow me to share a little secret," he leaned in conspiratorially, his voice dropping to a low whisper. "The key to winning this contest isn't brute force but respect for your insect. A bedbug is a far easier capture than a jitterbug." Nick made a sleeping gesture with his hands, his eyes closing in a serene expression.
Just then, a flurry of vibrant wings erupted from the grass. A cluster of majestic Butterfree, their delicate wings shimmering in the sunlight, soared into the air, followed closely by a much larger insectoid figure. Its powerful mantis body gleamed in the midday sun, scythe-like appendages glinting menacingly. "Scyther!" it shrieked, a piercing cry that echoed through the park like a clarion call.
The dream began to fragment, the vibrant colours fading into a gentle haze. The sounds of the park slowly dissolved, replaced by the pitter-patter of rain. Oak lay there for a moment, the memory of the dream lingering in his mind. He sat up, stretching his arms as he marvelled at the change in weather. It was early morning and the once clear sky was now shrouded in thick clouds of grey while the air was filled with the heady scent of petrichor.
With a soft smile, Oak rose from his makeshift bed beneath the tree, feeling refreshed and invigorated despite the unexpected interruption of the rain. The vivid images of the Bug Catching Contest and the encounter with Nick felt like distant echoes fading into the recesses of his mind. Viri stirred beside him, her fronds rustling gently as she awakened from her slumber.
"Looks like we've got more rain coming," Oak murmured, patting Viri affectionately on the head. "But that's alright. We'll find shelter and wait it out."
Together, they ventured forth into the wilderness, seeking refuge from the downpour.
OOC: Learning Bubble Beam over Water Gun. Evolving Metapod into Butterfree! Gust learned over Tackle, teaching Roost over Harden.

As the Professor and his Pokemon travelled through the route following the start of the rain, they'd find that soon enough it would start to get worse! Thunder boomed throughout the area, and they were far from any reliable shelter after minutes of travel. There would be a tree coming up, set up at the side of the route as a small midway point and for more practical aesthetics without being overly 'wally', just like the tree they had recently departed. And just about that time the rain would start. As they approached the tree, quickly they'd notice an increased scent of... wet berries? And lo and behold, there at the base of the tree would lie a Pokemon hangrily munching away at the berries that had once filled the tree. ...And it was no small amount of berries. There was a literal pile of berry stems that had been littered underneath it like a pile of corpses that set the scene for the devilishly hungry monstrosity that had awaited the Professor. It was Purple, it was Black, and it was STILL hangry. Munching away there on top of the pile was a Pokemon that the professor himself had just recently made an announcement about. Morpeko. Destroyer of Food (or Berries). And as the last berry fell to its belly, it let out a short shine of light and shifted, now in the more brown colored state as it was satisfied with its hunger at long last! A loud 'Peh koooo' emanated from its mouth as it laid upon the stems in enjoyment, having accomplished its goal for the evening. EDIT 2 (level roll)] vJK9lnrYp_8-12

Oak and Viri quickened their pace, seeking refuge under the thick canopy of a nearby tree. A sudden gust of wind whipped through the rain, carrying with it an unfamiliar sweet scent. It wasn't the earthy fragrance of petrichor but something fruiter. As they drew closer, the scent intensified, punctuated by a frantic chomping sound.
Curiosity piqued, Oak emerged from under the dripping foliage, his gaze falling upon the base of the tree. There, nestled amidst a pile of discarded berry stems, a bizarre sight unfolded. A creature, primarily purple with black accents, was demolishing a smorgasbord of berries. Its mouth worked furiously, cheeks bulging with each stuffed treat. A small mountain of stems grew at its feet, a testament to its relentless appetite.
"My word," Oak breathed, captivated. He'd only recently learned of the discovery of this curious Pokémon – Morpeko. But to see one in the wild, devouring berries with such fervour, was truly remarkable. What intrigued him most was the stark contrast between its two forms. As it devoured the berries, its entire body pulsed with a faint electric glow, before shifting to a yellowish hue. The Professor furtively withdrew a capture device from his pocket, eager to study this specimen.
Oblivious to the voracious creature, Solomiya, Oak's melodramatic Butterfree, drifted towards the berry pile. Her wings fluttered softly as she landed, captivated by the sweet fragrance. Mistaking the creature’s foot for a juicy treat, she tried to take a tentative bite.
OOC: Don't forget to roll for shinyness. vartio, what level is Morpeko by the way? XD Solomiya sent out and uses Bug Bite. Then Oak tosses an Ultra Ball.

[OOC Note] - Updated you with your Shiny roll prior post. Thanks for the reminder. [/OOC Note]
=============================
Morpeko was far too relaxed. Afterall it had just left being Hangry for Full Belly! How could it not be the most relaxed Pokemon in the world. They had recently arrived in the area from Kitakami, moving as part of a seasonal swarm for warmer and juicier fruits! How could it not enjoy itself on this vacation set in the middle of Johto! Alas it had grown hungry, and with the approaching storm, ever so recognizable by its affiliation with the electric type, it had decided to make a fun little romp amidst the tree. And as the storm ever approached, its stress only made it hangrier... and hangrier... and then it just became full out Hangry. The storm had restricted it to this poor berry tree, that was now absolutely drawn barren like some human had decided to pluck all of the apples from an Apple Tree! How dare they!
Morpeko had stuffed itself full, and thus it had thrown itself off guard for a moment. What stupid creature could ever dare to harass it right after it -
CHOMP
It felt a surge of pain run through its foot as it leaped into the air, kicking about suddenly as it cried out in pain, and instinctively let out a Thunder shock to surge through its body and into the bug that had mistakenly bitten it, letting out a scream of Electricity.
And were our said Electric Pest were to somehow escape the ensuing pokeball that had dared to take it freedom following its retaliatory thundershock, you could bet that it wouldn't hesitate to punch that Bug and Flying Type in the schnoz.
==============================
Morpeko used Thundershock.
If uncaptured, Morpeko uses Power Trip.

A shriek pierced the howling wind and driving rain. Morpeko, its blissful post-meal stupor shattered by the unexpected attack, whipped around, its brown and yellow fur bristling in anger. Its beady black eyes locked onto its assailant as the once docile creature crackled with electric energy, its entire body turning a menacing purple once more. Solomiya, caught completely off guard by the sudden shift in Morpeko's demeanor, barely had time to register the flash of purple before a jolt of electricity surged through her; delicate wings straining against the paralysis coursing through her body.
Oak's initial wonder morphed into concern. Here he was, witnessing a fascinating new Pokémon in its natural habitat, and now it had accidentally injured his beloved Butterfree. "This won't do," he muttered, his voice firm despite the rain pelting down around them. Reacting quickly, he readied the Ultra Ball in his hand and took aim at the enraged Morpeko.
The Hangry Morpeko, its fur bristling with static, let out a final, ear-splitting screech before being sucked into the Ultra Ball. It clicked shut with a satisfying snap and pulsed gently before the faint light extinguished to signify the successful capture. Oak held the ball aloft, relieved the bipolar rodent was trapped inside and could do no further damage.

Just as the Professor secured his capture, the sky opened up. Fat, heavy raindrops began to lash down upon Route 32, transforming the once dusty path into a ribbon of slick mud. Each drop that struck the earth exploded in a miniature geyser; the air thick with the earthy scent of churned soil. The towering trees lining the route stood like stoic sentinels, their leaves straining under the weight of the water. Oak squinted through the rain-streaked curtain, his vision a blurred patchwork of greys and browns while Viri lumbered beside him, her mottled skin now a muted shade, plastered down by the deluge.
The photograph of the Ivory-billed Pikipek; a catalyst that rekindled a memory that flickered like a candle flame in a windstorm. There was something significant about it, a truth waiting to be unearthed but the reason remained frustratingly elusive, a dream upon waking, fading into wisps of smoke. It was a lifeline thrown across the chasm of time, a connection to his own childhood experience. Though the weight of years had dimmed some of the details, the core emotion remained – a sense of awe and wonder, a profound connection with a creature thought to be consigned to the realm of myth.
The Professor pushed on; his determination fuelled by the growing belief that Breeder Beth held the missing piece of the puzzle. Perhaps the original photo held a hidden detail or maybe, just maybe, she possessed a secret knowledge and had seen something else that day in Ilex Forest.
Through the watery veil, flickers of warm yellow light, like fireflies trapped in a storm lantern were faintly visible. A weathered signpost, its paint peeling and lettering barely discernible, announced their arrival at Dandelion Daydreams. It wasn't the sterile, utilitarian building he might have expected. This nursery, bathed in the soft glow of golden lamps, resembled a quaint cottage nestled amidst a grove of weeping willows. Smoke curled from a chimney, weaving a wispy trail skyward, suggestive of a crackling hearth fire within.
Oak, his hair plastered to his forehead and his clothes clinging uncomfortably, stumbled the final few metres. He could vaguely discern a lone figure standing on the covered porch, the warm light illuminating the indistinct outline of someone with their arms crossed, seemingly waiting for him.
"BEEEETH!" he shouted, his voice a ragged roar that ripped through the wailing wind like a shipwrecked sailor's cry across a tempestuous sea, yet a sliver of hope, fragile as a butterfly caught in a gale, fluttered in his chest.
He lurched forward, shoes sinking with a sickening squelch into the mud with each laboured step. "Beth!" he bellowed again, his voice hoarse and laced with urgency. "I NEED to see it! The photo, I MUST see it!"
OOC: Challenging Breeder Beth!

Standing on that porch, kept dry by an aging overhang, her arms crossed and her chin up as she watched the storm, was Breeder Beth. Short brown hair whipped around her face, stray locks clinging to damp skin, the only thing keeping her from being blinded by her own rioting locks was the green bandana tied around her head. Sitting by her feet was a bucket of pokemon food that she couldn't exactly go scatter in this weather, otherwise it would turn into a horrendous mush. Upon hearing her name called, she turned, her expression shadowed until a strike of lightning in the distance lit the scene and her face along with it. Her brow furrowed and her lips parted, as if trying to discern if she knew this man scrambling towards her. He certainly knew her, but she was forced to comb her memory, his soggy, sorry state not helping matters. Then he screamed about a photograph just loud enough for the wind to carry it to her ears and she drew in a sharp breath. She stepped back. Wary. Distrusting. "Do I know you?" she asked. A part of her screamed that she did. She did know this man. That she had come to stand on this porch to meet him, to cross paths with a shared blink of destiny. But common sense overruled that odd notion. How silly. That was the sort of nonsense that only held true in dreams. Right? As she stared at him with questions upon her tongue, her lombre skid from out from under the porch and leapt between them. He wouldn't let Oak closer without a fight!
Breeder Beth sends out her [LV 18] Lombre! Weather is RAIN.

A flash of lightning ripped through the grey sky, splitting the heavens for a heart-stopping moment. In that brilliant, electrifying instant, Oak saw everything etched clear on Beth's face. Recognition, dawning slowly, then a flicker of fear, a shield dropping behind guarded eyes.
"I'm Professor Oak!" he rasped, his voice raw and thin. He was running out of breath, the exertion of battling the mud and the storm leaving his lungs burning. He gasped for breath, chest heaving, his eyes fixed on Beth. "Please..." he pleaded, desperation clear in his voice, "there's not much time... the photo... it's the key. I know it."
A boom of thunder cracked overhead as Lombre, Beth's loyal protector, let out a territorial cry and puffed out his chest, blocking the path to the porch. The rain had turned the ground into a treacherous bog, sucking at Oak's shoes with every desperate step. Exhaustion gnawed at him, his vision blurring at the edges.
Suddenly, a blur of white and blue shot between Oak and the Lombre. His Togekiss, sensing his distress, had swooped down, wings spread wide to shield her trainer. With a high-pitched "To-geh!", Tofu launched an Air Slash attack, a concentrated blast of wind that momentarily pushed back against the relentless downpour and the Lombre, who remained stubbornly planted in front of the porch.
Each precious second dripped away like rain trickling off the eaves and Oak knew time was running out to convince Beth to share whatever secrets she kept about the photograph.
OOC: Togekiss sent out. Air Slash x2 (Running shoes used).

Professor Oak? Had she heard that right? No. It couldn't be. Afterall why would a renowned Pokemon Professor be doing here?! What would he want with her!? Maybe this was that famous Imposter Professor Oak from the old stories!? (Reference for the memeories) As she scrambled to open her Pokegear, Beth called out to her Pokemon. "Lombre use Fake Out!" she called as she quickly fumbled to press the buttons on the Pokegear. Lombre would leapfrog forwards, stopping just in front of Togekiss' face. [ "Sup. (Lom)"] It went before clapping in Togekiss' face, the shock and surprise of the move Fakeout move than enough to stagger the Togekiss, allowing the Lombre to leap back and stall if only for a little longer. "Hello Police? I live south of Violet City, and this man claiming to be Professor Oak had run up to my house in the middle of a Thunderstorm, raving like a madman with a Pokemon of his attacking mine! Can someone get out here?" As the Togekiss began to recover she looked down at the gear then back at Lombre. "Uhh... use Astonish! ...Please, hurry, his Togekiss accomplice is as crazy as he!" Lombre's body slipped on the ground, moving at intense speeds as its ability, Swift Swim, activated, and it shot forwards as its face warped into something deformed and terrifying in an attempt to scare the Togekiss!
(covered at least the Fake Out stun since you lack a means to counter that)
