"What kind of dog pokemon are in alola?" Bella would ask. "Are you going to be one of those trainers that specializes in a certain type of pokemon? There are darling breeders that do shows on the tv that have all feline teams that are just so cute. I'm certain there are enough dog pokemon to do the same if that is what you want." She watched the young trainer switch out the hound for a bulbasaur. Oh how delightfully charming! <Oh. It's you! The one who defeated the bird! Maybe you can appreciate a proper celebration. The bird was defeated and can no longer terrorize us bug and grass pokemon. That means I will be able to get bigger and stronger much faster! That is cause to celebrate, yes?> It spewed string shot literally everywhere like fireworks. Again. Pecha was quickly covered in sticky goop. And while Pecha did her best to knock the celebrating wurmple over, it was dreadfully hard to move with thus webbing all over ground! She staggered and struggled and most just bumbled into the wurmple rather than charged in. " Oh, golly," Sloane shrugged, a small laugh escaping her lips, " I can't say that I know for sure. I never really got the chance to explore far beyond my hometown. I know for certain that Lillipups and Growlithes run wild throughout all the islands...and, of course, the Rockruffs. Those are native to Alola, you know." She folded her arms idly as she, with slight amusement, watched Pecha struggle in the worm's sticky string -- he would certainly need a good wash after this! " Me and my twin brother -- we were always advised to steer clear of the wild Rockruffs. Even if they were friendly, their Lycanroc parents nearby certainly weren't...see, my mom and dad were always worried about us getting hurt out there. It's why I never got the chance to start my journey until now." Sloane's expression suddenly fell pensive, her eyes distant as she looked wistfully at the horizon. " Faolan...my brother. He clearly held a grudge toward me for leaving. I think he was jealous. I should have offered to bring him along, but I was so eager to just get out and go..." She shook her head. " I just hope that one day he can start his own journey." Meanwhile, Pecha managed to shake himself free of enough string shot to move with somewhat more ease, though the sticky residue still clung to his stumpy legs and dangled from his ears almost comically. He let out an indignant huff, clearly annoyed by this abnormally beefy Wurmple's antics. He almost felt guilty raining on its parade, but he wasn't about to back down now. " I also want to get bigger and stronger!" he told the Wurmple, launching himself forward yet again. "You'll just have to wait your turn!"

[ "Oh don't be a party pooper! We can both get stronger together and enjoy ourselves in the rigors of combat!"] Called out the Wurmple with Revelrous tones! The wurmple seemed to have fun even recovering itself from the Bulbasaur's tackle! With laughter in its tone it would proceed to rush towards the Bulbasaur that seemed as though it moved in slow motion, butting their heads together in glorious tackles that sadly sent Wurmple flying further, although it still managed to stick its landing! [ "Tadaaa!"] "Oh ho, your brother sounds like he loves you a lot, don't worry, there will come a day you two can make many memories together again as trainers! Either you can be rivals, or best of friends. Whatever the case, it will be unforgettable. Hm. As for dog types... I hear Growlithe and Arcanine are popular in these parts. I've heard many a story of women my age who get a Growlithe and rest, letting those Warm adorable buggers warm our feet as they lay down near us in our chairs in the winter nights. Arcanine are very protective Pokemon, too!" She seemed to be reminescing visiting a family friend or the sort as she spoke, a clear smile on her face. Or maybe she once had one herself! As Sloane processed Bella's kind words, she noticed her vision began to swim and blur as tears started to form. She quickly wiped them away with the back of a gloved hand, not wanting to look like a total fool in front of this woman. She offered Bella a gentle, grateful smile, but said nothing more. Sloane seemed completely lost in thought as Bella continued to speak, her expression pensive and eyes uncharacteristically vacant. To adventure with her brother at her side was a dream that seemed so distant, but perhaps one day they could finally reconcile without the chains that previously bound them holding them back.
Pecha was reeling from the Wurmple's direct hit, blinking disorientation from his eyes as he recollected himself. He stared at it in utter disbelief, clearly unable to understand why it was still standing. Briefly, he glanced back at Cheri, who seemed to read his mind, offering him a shrug before idly scratching her ear. Pecha scowled, returning his attention to the Wurmple. Looks like he'd have to just keep chipping away at the stronger opponent.

<Are you going to quit that and join my celebration? I really don't understand why you keep attacking me... Do you not like the streamers I've made? Humans hang them up everywhere when they celebrate. Is it because they're not colorful? I can only make white ones... Though maybe if I found some berries I could paint them pretty colors with berry juice? That could be so cool!> The wurmple continued to chatter, getting up in Pecha's face and basically crawling onto the bulbasaur to try to pitch this party idea. And how they should seriously work together rather than fight. It was a win win, so come ooon. Just buy in! Pecha didn't appear to be on board at all, however, and in an effort to dislodge the wurmple, tackled into a nearby tree, causing the wurmple to fall off...and injuring both of them in the process. Oops. <Hey! That hurt...> The wurmple was getting really tired now. It didn't even have the energy to fire off streamers any more... It was clear that Pecha was feeling immense sympathy for the little Wurmple -- his face was twisted in a look of concern as the bug struggled to stay upright. It hadn't even wanted to fight from the start...he'd been so caught up in his desire to prove his fighting prowess that he hadn't realized the unfairness of the situation. He was inexperienced, sure, but he knew that the desire for a proper battle should be mutual between the two participating Pokemon. Rather than dealing the final blow, the Bulbasaur turned and gave Sloane a silent, pleading look.
Sloane blinked back at him. She he hadn't been giving Pecha any orders while she'd been talking to Bella, allowing him to make his own choices -- but when he had stopped, she immediately noticed. Her eyes then drifted to the Wurmple, who was clearly sapped of energy. Did Pecha want her to catch this Pokemon? It was true that the Wurmple had seemed such a joyful little creature, but was now beaten down by a battle that perhaps shouldn't have happened. Guilt welled up in the pit of her stomach. She really had no intentions of using a Wurmple in the long run, but...maybe she could find him a proper home elsewhere? Giving Pecha a silent nod, Sloane reached for one of the balls in her bag. With a gentle toss, she aimed for the Wurmple. Sloane used a Poke Ball!

The wurmple is surprised to see the opponent turn to the human. As much as the battle been a good learning experience for the wurmple, it is very tired. It braces itself for another hit from the bulbasaur but never got one. Instead a red and white ball was tossed in its direction. As the ball is tossed at the exhausted wurmple, it doesn't bother to move. The fight took everything it had out of the wurmple. As the ball opens and a red beam shoots out of it, the wurmple turns into energy and goes into it. There isn't a single shake but an automatic ding with the button lighting up. Inside the ball, the wurmple is enjoying the rest and the odd coziness of this thing it is now inside. There is no pain but also no sense of the outside as if the wurmple is in its own little world. As far as it knows, it is still alive just inside this object. The wurmple waits inside ball wondering what will happen next.

The Wurmple went into the ball with absolutely no effort, with not even a wiggle of protest before that satisfying click. Sloane made her way over, bending down to pick the ball off the dirt path, using a gloved hand to brush the dust and sand off its surface. Glancing back at her two partners and seeing their faces -- a look of gratitude from Pecha, and burning curiosity from Cheri -- she knew she had made the right choice. Placing the ball in her bag, she gestured for her Pokemon -- and Bella, of course -- to follow. "Come on! Cherrygrove is just ahead! I think some snacking is in order!" With the mere mention of food, Cheri bolted ahead of Pecha and even Sloane herself, tearing down the path in the direction of the nearby city. The young trainer let out a startled gasp, before taking off after the little Poochyena, Pecha thumping along at her heels. "Cheri, wait! I don't want you getting lost!" With the taste of adventure finally on Sloane's tongue, she felt like the branches once clouding her future had finally begun to wither away. A light sensation seeped into her spirit as she ran faster than she ever had before, pursuing whatever lay ahead of her in Cherrygrove. (please put the wurmple in the box!)
