Joey walked slowly along the streets of Violet City thinking over recent events. Making it to Violet City, conquering the Sprout Tower and not to mention befriending a new Pokemon. A lot had happened within such a short space of time. As he moved along the streets his mind began to wonder about challenging the City's Gym. "Seems I had best head there. To be strong... This is just one of many challenges I must overcome. If I can become strong, I can become a legendary thief... Saving Pokemon worldwide from any plight." He paused and stood, reflecting on things. He absent mindedly looked up and noticed he was at the Gym. "Woah!" Shouted Joey with a shocked expression. It seemed he had been drawn magnetically to this location. He tore his gaze away from the building and ran his hands over his trainer belt with all his adorned Pokemon. A small laugh escaped his lips and he shrugged before stretching his neck side to side. "Dammit, i've never been pensive. Guess this is just a big thing for me." He cracked his knuckles and approached the door which opened automatically.
As he walked in and his eyes adjusted to the lack of bright light inside he began to take in the sights of the Gym. It was a lot different from what he was expecting. In place of weights and punching bags were rather ornamental looking wooden pillars; all incredibly detailed in their design. He walked forward and paused after a few more steps. "Odd... You'd think there'd be a greeting cavalry." He looked down at the floor and noticed that a square section of the flooring was disconnected from the main flooring. "My thief's intuition tells me I shouldn't step on that... Booby trapped i'm sure." He fell silent and laughed. "Meh, what harm is it going to do here? Not like it's someone's house." As soon as Joey planted both of his feet on the square segment he was shaken violently and then thrust high into the air. He did all he could to regain balance and barely managed to hold on. "WOOOOOOAAAAAAH!!!" He yelled as he eventually reached the top.
He remained still, afraid to move in case the weird hidden elevator decided to topple over. It didn't seem incredibly stable. Eventually he eased himself into a more natural position and placed a foot on what seemed to be a new floor, high up in the sky unbeknownst to anyone below. He looked around and saw what to be a person in the distance. "Alright... Let's do this." Joey muttered, having regained his composure with the prospect of a duel. He stepped forward with no regard for the terrifying height.

A tall, blue haired man noticed his challenger and smirked with amusement. "Ah.. It's been a while since I've had someone in my gym. Welcome. I'm Falkner, the gym leader of Violet City. If you're here to challenge me, I humbly accept. But don't expect me to go easy on you." he stated with a cocky smirk. He pulled out a Pokeball and gazed at him. "We'll do a two on two Pokemon battle, understood?" he said. "I choose you, Pidgey!" he called out, throwing the Pokeball and the bird Pokemon came out of, landing by its trainers feet. "You may make the first move." Falkner said, smirking as he placed a hand on his hip.  Gym Leader Falkner wants to battle! Falkner sent out Pidgey! (Level 10) |

OOC: I think his Pidgey is Level 10 Lunar  Joey looked up to the trainer and cocked an eyebrow. "Hm...? You the gym leader of this place?" He listened to Falkner's words and felt kind of patronised by his overconfidence. Joey may act brash and cocky himself at times but Falkner seemed to be in a league of his own. Falkner's smirk and stance really rubbed Joe the wrong way. He instinctively went for a Pokeball and let rip with the throw. The ball landed perfectly in the arena and unleashed Joey's first Pokemon, his starter Charmander. Charmander looked around nervously, obviously rattled by partaking in his first gym battle. Joey, picking up on this, decided to brew some confidence of his own to comfort his own Pokemon and hopefully rub that smug grin off Falkner's face. " We'll see who's the elegant flying master is after i'm done with ya..." Joey looked up to the trainer and smirked himself. "Who the hell do you think we are?!" He boomed loudly while raising a fist towards Falkner. "Let's do this birdboy!" Joey looked to Charmander and ordered his first move. "Charmander, Ember attack, now! Let's show this guy we mean business." Charmander nodded and spat out a hot coal of ember towards the Pidgey. |

Pidgy spread it's wings and took to the sky. You have raised your charmander well however you are over confident and it is underconfident! haha!, it will be an...interesting match Falkner spoke in his confident voice. As the ember launched from Charmander's mouth Falkner smirked for a moment before calling out in a powerful commanding voice to his pokemon, Falkner's eyes were glistening not that much different from an eagels eyes.  "Dodge Pidgy and counter with tackle! hit it hard!"Pidgy listened to it's gym leader's commands with out hesitation and practiced percision as it swooped to the right causing the ember to miss pidgy's right wing by merely a inch almost singing the bird pokemon's feathers!, the glowing fire ball flew through the air gracefully leaving a faint glowing trail behind it before slamming into the roof above the two trainers showering harmless small sparks upon the trainers!. Pidgy then swooped down low and tucked it's wings down inorder to increase aero dynamics and speed so that it's force would be greated! and it smacked into Charmander with a tackle attack! crashing into the fire pokemon with a heavy thud causing it to stumble back a bit shaken by Pidgy's powerful counter attack. Falkner laughed mockingly, though only briefly. Though they may be similar in levels our pokemon have a gap between them. That gap is skill! The gym leader taunted Joey a smirk plainly painted upon his face just for Joey and his pokemon to see. Soon enough Joey's Charmander would be to shaken to fight. Battle

Joey looked at what had just unfolded with his mouth ajar. Charmander's attack had missed entirely and the Pidgey and it's trainer both came across as formidable opponents. "Grr..." Joey muttered to himself before analysing the situation some more. He looked to Falkner as he finished talking about skill and Joey just let out a huge laugh. "He's right... However, i'm not going to let him force Charmander and I into giving up already." Joe retorted back and shrugged. "Skill eh? Not a bad tactic but when you have brute force behind you, we're bound to hit sooner or later. And when we do..." Joey pointed his finger and slowly pretended to tear it across his neck mockingly. As he finished his taunt he ordered Charmander with a great deal of confidence in his voice, hoping to instil Charmander with the guts to stand up to this Pidgey. "Charmander! I know we missed the first time but repeat that Ember attack! Don't be phased just because you missed, strike again until you do! Then we'll overwhelm 'em!"
As Charmander readied a searing hot ember, Joey mulled over the situation in his head. "Trainers... I've faced a few up until now. Strong ones... Weak ones... I thought Elder Li was powerful but this guy's in a league of his own! No wonder they're Gym Leaders!" His eyes narrowed and focused on the match. "I'm going to enjoy this."

Falkner smiled deviously as Joey made a slashing gesture. "It will take more then a brute flailing around against an enemy out of his reach to defeat my beautiful birds Pidgy counter it with gust attack!" Falker called out in a clam but strong voice and his pidgy responded by flying up high in the sky and flapped it's wings with amazing speed and power creating a powerful gust of wind that blew over Joey and his Charmander practically toppling them over! how a bird the size of pidgy create such a gust was mind boggling! However Charmander didn't have time to wonder such a thing as the little fire pokemon stood tall and opened it's mouth wide and let loose a small but powerful fireball which erupted from it's mouth, the fireball's force combined with the gust caused Charmander to topple over and roll along the ground. Charmander's ember flew through the air gracefully spiraling rushing against Pidgy's gust the fireball periced throught the barrage of air! the fireball faltered off it's course for a moment, and as it neared Pidgy it was almost impossible to tell if the flaming ball would hit! as the fireball neared pidgy almost an inch away now time seemed to slowdown as the explosion burst in midair filling the sky above with cloud of smoke... had pidgy been hit? (suspense) (more suspense!!) YES!! pidgy fell from the smoke cloud! in a spiral it fell towards the ground out of control. Falker was taken aback for a moment but he recovered after a moment and called out to his pidgy. "Pidgy! pull out of it!" He commanded his pokemon whom shook it's head and pulled out of the dive only a foot away from the ground, causing Pidgy to take to the sky again, the battle would not be so easily won and Falkner smirked again. "Nice try"Battle

Joey, still phased from the strong gusts of winds and trying to find some secure footing from being blown off the edge was having a hard time following the battle. However, following Pidgey being hit Joey pumped his fist and grinned. "Awesome, Charmander! See? Falkner and his Pokemon may be the owners of this Gym but this doesn't make them untouchable. Reach the heavens partner!" Charmander, roused by his trainer's words leered at the Pidgey with some new found courage as his fiery tale grew in size. Joey looked to Falkner and shrugged. "The combination of Gust and Ember that produced that smoke cloud gave me an interesting idea for our next move..." He paused before diverting his attention to Charmander. "Create a Smokescreen to give us cover and blind side the enemy!" Charmander nodded and exhaled a thick cloud of smoke that fell upon the battlefield. Joey grinned at the sight of the Smokescreen. To many it bothered them and caused them to cough repeatedly but he had performed so many heists and thefts that he almost welcomed the comforting atmosphere it bought.

"Hmm...interesting, however two can play this game!"Falkner spoke after Charmander had released its smokescreen creating a fog of black smoke around the arena floor. The smokescreen obscured Charmander and made it harder to hit. Falkner seemed pretty much unfazed by this and he retailiated without hesitation. Pidgy go, use sand attack!The small bird began to flap its wings much like gust, however this time the blast of air was directed at the ground and it kicked up a wave of sand that had conviently been laying upon the arena in a thin film like layer, the sand got into Charmanders eyes despite the smokescreen and made Charmanders vision blur effectively reducing its own accuracy balancing the odds! Battle

OOC: Just so you know, I checked the gym guide and it would seem this little Pidgey doesn't know the move Gust. So for future reference just thought you ought to know. Joey looked at Falkner dismayed. "You're kidding me right? Grr..." Snarled Joey, who was beginning to get a bit annoyed by the stalemate of a situation. He looked to Charmander and began thinking up his next move. He realised that the opposing Pidgey could only have so many moves so he decided to reflect his chagrin through his Pokemon. "Okay Charmander, can you feel my annoyance? Channel that into one intimidating Growl and let's lower it's Attack! I doubt this Pidgey will suddenly be able to do the same to you." Charmander looked away from his master having received his orders and let out a surprisingly deafening roar from such a small creature. |

OOC: Joey's charmander leveled up in another thread and he was asking if it could be updated into this one. Since their battle is nearly over, I would ask if it was okay to quickly jump up his levels here? Not sure how it works. But if anyone disagrees, just say and I will remove this, take his level back down to 10 and edit his health accordingly. ^^
As Joe ordered his Charmander to let out an intimidating Growl attack, Falkner slowly raised both his arms to his stomach before gently folding them. He seemed to snicker for a moment before letting a slight smile curl onto his face, "Heh. You won't win by crying at me."
He soon realised his arms before thrusting one of them forward, "Alright Pidgey! Bash that crying Charmander with a Tackle attack!" After recieving it's command, the Pidgey spread it's wings proudly before thrusting itself into the air. With each powerful stroke, it's wings cut through the air, before it's little feathered body came crashing down onto Charmander's torso, knocking him backwards.

Charmander was bashed forcefully backwards as the Pidgey u-turned around after smashing into it. Joey remained cool after this turn was over as it was possible that with the Pidgey's lowered stats he might just have the upper hand for now. The Charmander tenaciously jogged back to it's position and was beginning to look a bit more toughened up than before after taking a few head on attacks from Falkner's Pokemon. Joey noticed this and cheered him on joyfully. "Awesome, Charmander, tap in to the abilities you hold. Overcome any challenge!" He looked at the Pidgey and decided it was high time for another blazing fire attack. "Charmander, cough up another hot Ember and try and hit it square in the chest!" Charmander complied and began coughing up a fiery coal of ember at the enemy Pidgey.

OOC: Your Charmander's level was updated, just so you know. ^^ Charmander aimed carefully at the Pidgey then unleased a fiery Ember attack, causing a critical hit!! Falkner snarled at this. He's good... very good. he thought. He then smirked at this. "Not bad... But not good enough. Pidgey, use Sand Attack!" he commanded. The Pidgey nodded in response and flapped its wings rapidly, sending a gust of sand towards Charmander, lowering his accuracy again. Joey was doing fairly well and was now in the lead, and will hopefully keep it up. Battle

OOC: That's very kind of you, thanks.  This'll be the last time I do a group RP battle AND other battling RPs at once so if this is wrong hopefully i'll be let off the hook. BIC: Joey exclaimed loudly, as not only did the Ember attack hit but it scored a critical on the Pidgey. Joey laughed and looked to Falkner who was beginning to get his feather's ruffled slightly. "Pokemon battles. You can never... EVER... Predict the outcome." Joey looked to Charmander and gave him some much needed moral support after being severely blinded. "Don't worry Charmander. You may have your accuracy lowered but you can still fight. The Pidgey's been hit around quite a bit now." Charmander let out a small cry and patted his feet rapidly on the floor excitedly. Joey grinned and ordered a new attack. "Let's keep up the fire attacks. Charmander! Ready another Ember!" Charmander complied and blew out a hot coal of Ember at the Pidgey. |

[OOC: Sorry about the wait. Let's speed this battle back up, eh?]
Charmander stood, continuing to rub his eyes, frantically trying to get out the intrusive grains of sand. It shook it head once more when hearing Joe's orders. Lifting it's head up, it took a while for him to spot the Pidgey. But it soon spotted the feathered fiend and began to take in a deep breath, unleashing a blast of fire.
Falkner, however, was watching the Charmanders actions all the time... Watching how slowly it took for the Charmander to pin point the Pidgey. Smirking, he lifted his arm and waggled his finger to Joe, "Don't speak so boldly. You, are but a new feather... Flowing unpredictably in the wind. Unlike I, with years of experience. Pidgey! Swoop out of his Charmander's flames and use a Tackle!"
The Pidgey did just that. Just before the Charmander's flames hit, the Pidgey sprung up into the air, unfolding its wings and moving into flight. Though the attack didn't completely miss, instead, it just clipped the Pidgeys tail end. Trying to shake off any extra flames, the Pidgey made yet another diving swoop onto the Charmander.

Joey watched the battle unfold carefully himself and noticed the fact Falkner was paying incredibly close attention to what moves Charmander was doing and the time in which it took him to conjure up enough burning embers to attack. "Bait and switch as they say...!" Murmured Joey in his mind as he devised a new plan of attack. Charmander looked to his trainer expectantly and a definite amount of new found confidence in his posture. Joey grinned and nodded to his Pokemon. "Good going Charmander, we'll do this yet! Charmander! Attack with... An EM-" He paused mid sentence as if to trick Falkner and yelled out his true attack. "Scratch! Dig those claws in tight now." Charmander nodded, almost anticipating the sudden change in moves and displayed his sharp claws before heading over to Pidgey's arena, attempting to land a vicious Scratch on his opponent.
