*Free to join!! :3 Anyone can join in!*
A cool yet pleasant spring breeze fluttered through the air, rustling the leaves in trees, a few dead ones left from the previous year floating gracefully onto the Route's path, dazzling new trainers on their way to who-knows-where.
One of these trainers, Haven Annette Willsworth, was sitting down, leaning against a tree. She had her sketchpad out and was drawing the largest tree on the route, mystified by its strange beauty. Her Pokemon, however, had other plans in mind than sitting around and relaxing.
Mistfall, her Squirtle, was practicing Bubble on leaves. Caramelfeather, her Lillipup, was Tackling trees. Haven found this especially humorous, and thought she would try drawing it after she finished her current one. Mojo, her Quilava, was trying to get Caramelfeather's attention. She ignored him, however, and was obviously too consumed in training, like she always was. And Haven's newly caught Element, a Wurmple, was playing darts, almost.
It was a nifty little game the worm had came up with. She had used String Shot to make three circles on a tree, then she tried to aim her Poison Sting into those circles. Haven enjoyed watching it, and took note of her new friend's creativity.
Haven closed her sketchpad and sighed. One can only go so many hours drawing, shading, and inking before their hands refuse to do so any longer. She put her drawing materials away, then stood up and pumped her fist in the air. "Time for some intense training, everyone! Oh, I just hope another trainer comes along.."

The sleep was restful after his first day of being a trainer. He had encountered a lopunny who gave him an egg, which hatched into a torchic, he had caught a wurmple who evolved into a cascoon. And he had fought an annoying trainer with a rattata. That kid have some growing to do. Pft, he should start forgetting him.
Next time though, he would note to himself and not adventure too long before the night sets without a pokemon who can help him light his way back to a city, town, somewhere not in the wild. He's somewhat of an urban person. He noted to himself, to make a plan to keep track the time of day, which does not include catching a hoothoot or noctowl because he just did not like them, and their crows. He could only hear certain sounds for long. And this mental note was on top of how many mental notes that he probably already had forgotten?
Anyways, he continued on the day. He woke up early and decided to explore route 29 again, for another wurmple to evolve into a silcoon. Instead of walking with his pokemon, this time he decided to walk on feet alone, since otherwise might tired them out. He continued walking, looking for wurmple until he came upon an area with a noisy combination of leaves in the tree rustling and trees being slammed by something.
He continued closer and saw someone familiar, Haven, and her pokemon responsible for the noises.
"Hey," he initiated shyly, looking at the female trainer who held a sketchpad.
"Hello again, Haven," he greeted again as he walked closer, making sure that she heard that.
OOC: I have decided to join this thread instead of your other, group thread. XD

OOC: ^_^ Sounds good. yeah, I'm pretty far in my other group thread, so i'm not sure how well that would work out. My shift key is being a brat. I may not be able to capitalize everything. That and my B key. =.=
Haven lowered her fist, then turned to her Pokemon, and realized that none of them had listened to her speech. "Ugh, NONE of you guys listened to me?" She walked closer to Mojo and pried him away from Caramelfeather.
"Don't you think you're being a bit annoying?" Mojo lowered his head and then nodded to his Trainer. He understood what she meant, and he knew he was interrupting the Lillipup's training, but he just wanted to play.
She heard a familiar voice, and recognized this boy as Alex, someone she had encountered before, but not had much familiarity with. "Oh, hey Alex, long time no see. Sorry if my Pokemon were annoying you." She turned to Mojo as she said this, and he simply kind of smiled at her.
"Anyways, what's been going on? I've caught two new Pokemon since we last met, and I hope you have as well." She then looked at her team, who all seemed to be itching for a fight. "How about a practice battle? Sharpen both of our skills."

OOC: I am waiting to catch a spearow in my thread, then we can double battle with wurmple + quilava vs spearow + cascoon
IC: After hearing that Haven have caught two new pokemon, Alex looked around to confirm. He saw a wurmple shooting poison darts at a tree, and a quilava (he thought this was the name?) trying to play with a lilipup (that was the right name?) while the canine pokemon was ramming a tree again and again with different parts of its body.
"Well, you caught two pokemon and are training your pokemon?" He asked, but did not expect an answer to this question.
He spoke, "My wurmple, if you remember, she's the shy one, and she evolved into a cascoon!"
He went on to explain, ignoring the battle request, "That poor wurmple had two bird pokemon wanting to eat it. First a hoothoot, then a spearow."
He paused, considering how silly this is of him to go social and storytelling. However, she's not a complete stranger, they have met before, somewhat.
"But with the help of my torchic and my bulbasaur we show them not to eat my pokemon," he laughed lightly. "I bet you don't have anything crazy like that."

Slightly annoyed that her request to battle was ignored, Haven decided that she'd let it slide this time. Alex probably had his reasons for not saying anything about it, and she wasn't one to coldheartedly pry information from people.
"I forget.. which one of the two does Cascoon evolve into? Beautifly or Dustox?" She didn't wait for an answer, because she had to tell her story of how she came across Wurmple.
She coughed, clearing her throat, then spoke. "Well, actually, I had something similar to that happen. It was blizzarding, and a Pidgeotto was about to make a snack out of Element. A strong wind blew her from the tree she was on, and she hid in my bag for shelter. Then Silver came along and... ugh, you don't want to know the rest. I don't even want to TELL the rest."
It gave Haven chills every time she thought about Silver. His cold-hearted, emotionless words, the way he treated his Pokemon, the bloodlust Haven saw in his eyes... she hated all of it. She couldn't wait until she met Silver again, so she could beat him again.
"Anyways, after I kicked Silver's butt, Element respected me, and Caramelfeather for beating him, and she wanted to battle. I'm not a big Bug-type girl, but I saw the potential in Element and decided to catch her anyways." Haven wondered if that battle request would ever be initiated. She'd wait patiently until it was, and she was fine with the small talk for now.

"Cascoon evolves into Dustox, and Silcoon into a Beautifly," Alex answered the typical trainer who are not enthusiastic about bug type pokemon. He also went on and added, "Yes, bug type pokemon have great potential if they are raised properly and have a working moveset. Also, "Element" for a wurmple, what a nice name. I would like to know which flying bug it evolves into."
He paused and pondered why he talked like he was some competitive battler whose goal was battling pokemon. No, of course not. That was not his dreams and goals. He needed to gear himself back to his dream. Maybe occasional slip was okay. Occasional. Slip. And, of course, he was honest about the female trainer's wurmple. After all, he thought all worm pokemon would be better off if they had evolved and live even a little brief moment as a flying bug before getting eaten by stronger wild pokemons.
"So, this Silver person," he began, "sounds terrible. I hope I won't meet him. It's a big world, right?" He smiled lightly.
He added immediately after, "I am guessing you do not want to talk about it..."
"So how is your squirtle? How about a quick battle between my bulbasaur and your squirtle?" he offered a battle, as if remembering. Or he did not remember the request earlier. Or he wanted to show off something he admired that his bulbasaur could do.

Haven noticed the way Alex commented on her Wurmple-evolution statement, and she realized she was being inconsiderate. "If I ever sound like I'm hating on bug-types in our conversations, please don't hesitate to tell me so I stop it.." She then smiled as Element's name was complimented.
"Yeah, I wanted to name it something worm-ish, but it's going to turn into a flying-type. My original name was Stringshot, but I decided on something that would work no matter what she evolves into." Haven then noticed she was forming a soft spot for Element, but she knew she would never be able to open up to bug-types, like Alex was able to.
She heard Silver's name come up again in conversation, which made her shudder. "Let's just say, he's the coldest, most heartless trainer alive. He said if Chikorita wasn't his only Pokemon, he would have abandoned it." She then decided to stop talking about it, before too many memories were dragged up.
Haven was then pumped because Alex had brought up her battle, but disappointed because she would be at a type-disadvantage. "I'd love to battle against your Bulbasaur, but I'd hate for one of us to have a type advantage over the other."
She called over Caramelfeather, who was happy to jump in front of her Master in a battling pose. "I'll use my Lillipup, so that neither of us has an advantage, and neither of us is at a disadvantage." She thought for a moment, and then commanded, "Tackle!"

Of course, he have not thought about the type advantage and disadvantage matter in this battle. His head was rushed with blood as his mind was between blaming himself for not being considerate and making an excuse for himself that he had not wake up fully yet to think about this. "Sure, lilipup and my bulbasaur," he replied hesitantly, but admitting to himself that he was flawed on this part. He then proceeded to tossed out a pokeball to the grass, a green dinosaur appeared, shouting, "Bulba!"Saurobix was happy to be out as he stretched his arm. However, he put on his battle mode quickly as he watched a familiar lilipup charging for an attack. "Saurobix, this is a friendly fight," he began, "stop Caramel with a Vine Whip!"Now, ever since his bulbasaur learned that move, he had not an opportunity to used it since most pokemon he met in the wild so far were bug type and flying type, totally not an advantage. He was glad to finally use this move though. He also knew that pokemon's name was longer, but he agreed to himself that this was shorter and got to the point, at least he got it. Saurobix, despite knowing that this was a friendly fight, was still eager to put up his best fight. Perhaps he have some fighting obsession or something, but his trainer probably know this by now. From the underside of the bulb on his back he stretched out two vines of some fairly long length, he waited as the lilipup began running forward for a tackle.

Seeing that the canine pokemon was heading to his direction, Saurobix attempted to leaped to the side to dodge the attack. CaramelFeather charged forward, hitting the green dinosaur on his side albeit he tried to dodge. Feeling the pain, the dinosaur returned the blow by whipping hard the opponent with the vines he had out earlier. He swung his vines with a large radius and whipped hard on the pup pokemon's furry body. After the exchange of assault, both pokemon returned to stand in front of their trainers, readying for another attack. "Okay," Alex began his order again, "launch a Leech Seed on Caramel!"
OOC: I like tables, so deal with it XD I am using this link for calculation, as seen on you and sky's rp. So apparently the calculator gives a range, I use this link to generate a number between max and min. Then, to calculate chance for critical hits, I am using this link to generate numbers. Since normal, unmodified attacks and abilities have 6.25% chance for critical hit, I divide (100/6.25) between 0-1 to 16 pieces, where every .0625 would give me a number. and if the first number that the generator makes is a multiple of .0625, I am calling it a critical hit. btw, it is, (1/16) 0.0625, (2/16) 0.125, 0.1875, 0.25, (5/16) 0.3125, 0.375, (7/16) 0.4375, 0.5, 0.5625, (10/16) 0.625, 0.6875, 0.75, (13/16) 0.8125, 0.875, and (15/16) 0.9375 ^saving this for my future references, I am told that mods RNG the critical hits differently and is simpler lol I probably shouldn't take the hard route for critical hit calculations lol the calculator also says they both have 29 hp when IV is all 0, HP is 32 when all IV is 31, so I use all IV is 31. haha. I also put too much stuff on the battlefield description. I also ordered my pokemon to attack the second time, so if you want to try to calculate damage, this is your chance. For leech seed, just make sure at the end of each turn, bulbasaur regains 1/8 of his maximum hp, (8/32 is 1/4, so 4 hit points.)

(OOC: I kind of understand now, but I think just for this battle I'll leave that to you, since you seem to know what you're doing more than me.)
Seeing Saurobix's vines raise gave Haven a nervous feeling. She knew that Caramelfeather hadn't been prepared for that kind of move, seeing as she had never faced one like it before. She took the hit better than Haven thought, however, and got right back to her feet.
"Not bad!" Haven called, like an old rival and friend of Alex, although they barely knew each other. As Caramelfeather slammed into Saurobix via a well-executed Tackle, Haven realized something.
This was nothing like the trainer battles with Don and Silver. This was... more relaxed, more friendly. And that was something that Haven liked, a lot. As Caramelfeather dashed back in front of her, awaiting further instruction, Haven smiled. "Let's see how well Saurobix can handle our new move! We haven't gotten a chance to use it yet, so here we go. Caramelfeather, use Bite! [/b]"[/center]

As soon as she heard the command, CaramelFeathers cheerily dashed forward, heading toward Saurobix with a mouthful of bite. The plant dinosaur tried to jumped to one side to dodge, but he was not a jumper. The lillipup took this opportunity and bite bulbasaur hard on the side with her big mouth. The teeth sunk into the reptilian scales into critical parts, and Saurobix immediately felt the damage and fell to the ground on one side. Then, at this moment, he blasted a single seed toward the lillipup. It landed on its body and sprouted into vines, sapping energy from her as a green string of light flashed from the vines to the plant dinosaur. CaramelFeathers cringed in pain as its health was lowered. She immediately went back to her side of battlefield once more.

Saurobix struggled to land on his feet, but still managed to launch a leech seed, regaining some health. "Lucky you," his tone changed to a dark, somewhat serious and lack of sympathetic tone. His bulbasaur let out a little grunt as he struggled for the final part of the battle. "Alright, Saurobix you can do this," he began in his normal battle voice again, "hit him with a Vine Whip again!"

Seeing Caramelfeather land a critical hit made Haven let out a cheer of victory. She muffled her cheers with her mouth, however; she knew that this battle was far from over, and this was no time for cheering. Haven knew that Saurobix was strong, and she wasn't going to underestimate him.
As Saurobix launched a cleverly timed Leech Seed towards Caramelfeather, Haven cringed. "Leech Seed, huh... one of the trickiest moves out there." She whispered to herself, barely audible to Alex.
She pumped her fist and shouted, "It's all right, Caramelfeather! Don't let Leech Seed get to you, you won't faint from it! I know it seems like it'll knock you down, and sap your health, but you've got to be strong. Don't let fear get in your head!" She bit her thumb, a bad habit she sinks into while concentrating, and then sighed.
She thought a defensive move wouldn't be the best choice now. Caramelfeather's health would continue to go down, so wasting turns on lowering Saurobix's offense and defense was pretty much out of the question at this point. "All right, Caramelfeather, use Bite again." She said, loud enough for her Pokemon to hear. She was feeling nervous, and wanted to end this battle sooner rather than later.

As if Haven made a rational choice, the bite from lillipup proved to be effective. After receiving her order, CaramelFeathers headed toward the opponent eagerly and energetically, reading for another bite. The tired bulbasaur used his last strength to embrace himself for another attack, and attempted to dodge it. However, the plant dinosaur's speed could not compare to the canine. They were similar in speed, but the dog was marginally better, the trivial difference enough to magnify into a battle advantage. With a jump in the air, the canine leaped in front of the plant dinosaur and opened her mouth midair. Then with a mouthful, she bit on the plant dinosaur's bulb. Saurobix had lost his last health to battle as he immediately flattened his feet on the grass, appendages stretched on the ground.

Saurobix could not battle anymore! CaramelFeathers had won the battle! She gained some experience in battle and 2 levels!Who are we kidding, the pokemon are not even holding their most serious face and adrenaline. Lillipup gained bragging right for defeating her first grass and poison pokemon bulbasaur! Who are we also kidding, nobody in Johto cares about that! Now go Tweet Chatotes about this on your latest news feed! Oh you don't have a phone? Whatever!
Alex, watching this battle, was disappointed again. He made note of speed differences to his battle. Hopefully his pokemon would strengthen and learn some status infliction moves. But for now, Saurobix needed some rest. Alex held out his pokeball and ready to let his pokemon rest for the next battle in this route. "You did great," he spoke as he held out his pokeball, "now go get some sleep! I'll wake you for meal time."He smiled, like a flash, to Haven, and immediately returned to his morning faceless face. He was too tired for this fight, his thought tried to comfort himself. "I'll look forward to battle your lillipup again, hopefully when both evolved," he suggested. He merely suggested. Should he overpower the lillipup evolution with Venusaur or a fair fight with Ivysaur? Shhh. Did he phrase this idea on purpose? As a trap? Alex thought to himself as he was having a social and moral conflict. OOC: Well, this goes too fast how about torchic vs squirtle? obviously your squirtle get STAB and 2x effective with bubble and is 3 levels higher or chat a bit while we filler up for the double battle? As Caramelfeather won, Haven ran up and embraced her in a victory hug. "Awesome job, girl!" The pup seemed to like this response from her Master, and happily yipped several times to show she was happy, too.
Haven returned Caramelfeather to her Poke'ball, and then she took hold of Mistfall's. "All right! Round two~!" Tossing Mistfall's Poke'ball in the air, the small turtle did a few skilled flips in the air and then landed on the ground victoriously.
"Sorry for calling this out on you rather unexpectedly, but I think Squirtle and Torchic should have a battle!" Haven felt pumped, and not just because she would have the advantage when it came to type. She loved the feel and atmosphere of battling with Alex. It was... serene and peaceful.
"Squirtle versus Torchic, hm? Let's do it." Haven took a step back and then commanded, "Mistfall, use Bubble!"

"Wow, another round?" he was certainly surprised by this young trainer's enthusiasm for battle. "You know that my torchic is going to lose right," he said, "with type advantage and under-training."He thought to himself, time to embarrass his newly hatched pokemon. Although from what he had seen so far, this torchic pokemon was overly energetic for him to handle. He grabbed into his pocket and held out a pokeball, tossing it into the air. "Go, Rosthrem! You're up for a friendly fire!" he said, no pun intended. "Show Mistfall your Night Slash!" he shouted. "Apparently, this Lopunny gave me a special torchic egg with this strange move," he introduced her his newly discovered move of the torchic. The torchic dashed forward as her talons glowed a strange purplish dark light, readying for her strike. The squirtle, at the same time, inhaled some amount of air, forming bubbles within his body. The two were ready to clash together.
Field: Short Grass. Dude, seriously, stop. Stepping. On. Me. I need air and sunlight to live. And you make my hair ugly. Weather Report: Route 29 is actually clear. What? The clouds moved! UV radiation is low, allergy level is high due to spring season. Wind speed is 8.44km/hr. Trainers are advised to bring protection against rains and mud. Weather brought to you by, Goldenrod Radio Station. Tune in later today for a special performance by our Gym Leader and Beauty, Whitney! | V | | Rosthrem the Torchic "Chic, chic, chic, chic, chic, chic!" ^_^ Lv6 F HP: 11/23 Rosthrem used Night Slash!
| S | Mistfall the Squirtle "Squirrrrrt!" 8) Lv9 M HP: 24/29 Mistfall used Bubble! |
Then, as the two got close together, the turtle pokemon released a bursts of transparent, iridescent bubbles. The bubbles, forcibly expelled from within the pokemon's body, were ejected in a relatively quick speed, at least quicker than youngsters and toddlers blowing into a bubble maker thing, whatever that toy is. The bubbles hit the feathery pokemon on the face as she turned her face and her fiery body temperature was cooled a little by the water type attack. The glow on her talons dimmed briefly as she gathered her strength to counter the attack. Still standing on her feet, the purplish glow quickly returned to its original intensity and brightness. The energetic chic pokemon ran a few steps forward and slashed (scratched?) the reptilian pokemon on the head, but the damage was not as strong as the bubbles that were hitting her earlier. Mistfall cringed as he took the damage, but shook the pain off his face as he prepared for the next command. Rosthrem, after hitting that blue midget reptilian, ran back to her side of the battlefield and ready for another attack. "Night Slash again!" Alex ordered. This situation does not look like Scratch or Growl would make a difference, so why not just go offensive? He watched as his torchic repeat the attack preparation again. He hoped for a critical hit.

(Link to the damage calculator, please? I'll start using it during our double battle.)
Haven kind of wanted to use Bubble again, but she didn't want to be unfair to Torchic. She felt bad that she had the advantage, which is exactly what she was trying to avoid in the first place, so there was absolutely no need to spam bubble.
"All right, Mistfall, use Tackle." Haven said, all seriousness in her voice. "Let's see how long we can drag this out~!"
Haven bit her thumb and then waited to see the result of this rather kind move. She could have used Bubble in a shallow attempt to end things right there, but she wasn't that mean, nor could she ever be.
