So this was how everyone started, her mother, her father, her grandfather, everyone else who had become a Pokémon trainer had started out with a single Pokémon and became one of their greatest partners in battle. The thought, the excitement, the thrill was coming to her at the first time as she held onto the red and white ball in her hand that had contained her starter type Pokémon. She had named it something along the lines of its relation to the fact that it was a fire type, Blazebit.
“Okay here it goes. Blazebit come on out!” She said as she tried to relax her excited body over this moment as she released the pokeball from her hand. In a red flash a small lizard like Pokémon appeared in front of her and she retrieved her pokeball and put it back by her side. She smiled softly relieved to see that the charmander was in perfect health and nothing was wrong.
Charmander first noticed Avila as she spoke and turned to face her, his tail lit showing how alive he was as the pokedex had said on the species. He seemed to have a curious look to Avila but also wasn’t really sure how to react to her. This was in fact the first time that the two met, but couldn’t decide if she was a friend or foe, and Avila recognized this, so she tried to use calm and soothing tones, but also kept her excitement up “Heay there Blazebit. It now looks like we’re on a journey together. Are you up for it?” She asked but Blazebit didn’t seem to respond much at first as he looked at her. “Oh I think I get it, you’re nervous? I’ve never harmed a Pokémon in my life. I am rather grateful of them in fact.” She said offering her hand to see if Blazebit would let her touch him. He still seemed a bit nervous but when she had spoken about promising not to harm him he seemed to be a bit calmer. “By the way my name is Avila.” She said though knowing that Blazebit would not be able to speak back to her he would at least know who she was. The first thing that helped in battle was to gain the Pokémon’s trust. And it seemed so far that she was managing to do just that.
“Charr!Charr!” Blazebit said now starting to understand after thinking about what Avila meant, he pressed his domed head against Avila’s hand gently as she smiled. I get what you mean now. I promise I won't be so frightened. After all a pokemon has to be brave in battle!
“Well we better get on our way now.” She said as she let Blazebit walk with her. The route from New Bark Town would be a long one, but the next town over would be Violet City, and once they reached there she would be able to battle with Blazebit and attempt to get the Zephyr badge. But first thing first was to tackle the routes that lead up to the city. As she began to walk she noticed how cold it was, but luckily she had been prepared having her backpack with her and an extra coat. She was sure that Blazebit could handle himself in his cold; after all he was a fire Pokémon. Yet if she noticed anything wrong with him she would put him back in his pokeball.

The weather, cold and wet as it was, wasn't enough to stop some locals from coming out to look for something to do or for something to eat, all the Bug-Types were hiding in their little holes, so they had nowhere to run when a bird swooped in to feed on them. Metapods were the best, once you got past the shell, which wasn't too hard for a Spearow's beak, they were easy to eat and tasty too. Probably good for you too, but that didn't matter to Spearow, it simply needed to keep itself fed, and that's all it had eaten some Metapod for. It wasn't malicious, it wasn't there for the thrill, but it simply needed to eat, and as cold as it was the Pokemon needed to eat more often to make sure that it could stay warm. Three Metapods and a Caterpie in one sitting was quite high, but it needed to keep it's energy up and that was the only way. Not that it had a problem with what it did to survive, it was purely instinct so right or wrong didn't apply, either Spearow fed and they died, or didn't feed and died itself. But now that it was full, the bird had decided to head back to it's roost, to rest and use less energy compared to if it stayed out here and continued moving around. But as it made it's way back, not flying due to the water on it's feathers, it caught notice of what was clearly a flame, fire meant warmth, if it waited there maybe it wouldn't need to worry about keeping fed as much. Or even better, it could bring the flame to it's roost and keep itself warm and dry at the same time, sure the roost was already decently warm, but it wouldn't hurt to keep a little warmer with the help of the fire. So the bird went over to the flame, seeing that it was the tail of a Pokemon. An orange lizard was standing out in the rain with what Spearow assumed was it's Trainer, the Trainer could be problematic, so that would need to be dealt with first of all. Spearow then started running at Avila and her Charmander, screeching loudly and acting aggressive to scare her off, or at least catch her off-guard to allow Spearow to take the Charmander back to the roost for warmth. Wild Spearow [Level 4] wants to take Blazebit fire to keep itself warm! It's coming right for you! Weather: Icy Rain

Avila hadn’t been paying much attention to the Spearow, she had just been too excited over gaining her new Charmander as a first starter. She thought for sure that this day couldn’t get any better. However down below Blazebit froze as through the rain he heard a hard screeching noise that was sounding too unwelcomed for a friendly stranger. He stopped to turn back as Avila had taken a few steps ahead, realizing where the horrible screech came from; it was a wild Spearow coming straight at them.
Blazebit panicked as he tried to keep up with Avila and return to her side however he felt himself slip in the icy cold snow over estimating it. Without any other option he spoke out calling for Avila wondering if she could aid him. “Char Char!” Trainer Avila, I need some help! That bird pokemon is coming straight at me like it wants to attack.
And with that Avila turned hearing the cry of her Charmander, it had been much louder now with the combination of noises that she had heard behind her. She turned around skidding in the snow realizing in an instant why Charmander had been crying out for her for help. She came over to his side to help him up back onto his feet. Blazebit was still frightened and the distance between the Spearow and himself had gotten much smaller. Once again Avila had to act fast, but she wasn’t sure that she alone could scare off the wild Spearow. The two would have to work as a team, and this also meant that this would be their first battle.
“Heay stop bothering my Blazebit. He didn’t do anything to you!” She said standing back up and keeping close to Blazebit. As the current weather was going on, with the icy rain falling down Charmander was going to have a bit of a trouble if he used any fire type attacks. She also noticed that Spearow wasn’t flying, was the ice bothering its wings? None the less she wondered if this could be used as an advantage while the Spearow was on the ground. “Blazebit use Scratch!” She exclaimed. Avila had not wanted to think of the idea of fainting this Spearow, it just came out of nowhere. She hoped at least to intimidate it, so it could flee back into the wild and leave the two alone.

Blazebit charged right at the Spearow, with his claws extended for his attack. He wasn't scared of this thing, and he had already fallen so he was hoping that he now knew how to properly keep his footing on the wet ground. Though he noticed that every time the rain hit his tail, he felt a sudden pain shoot through his body, he could still fight at his full ability, but the water was hurting him. If he lost or got too wet it could end rather badly for him, so he knew that he'd need to be very careful in his fight. But it hadn't taken long fore him to get into range of the Spearow before he swung his claws at it's body, and though it was his first Battle, he felt an instinctive primal joy when his claws, a predator's claws, tore the flesh of the Spearow, the flesh of prey. He'd never once hunted in his life, at the lab they fed the Pokemon every day so they didn't need to catch their own food, but the instincts he had were built upon generations of his line, they were apex predators. There was nothing that could threaten them, or at least that was how he felt at the moment. He liked the feeling that was passing over him, the satisfaction any hunter felt when they made contact with their prey. Here he was in a Battle, his first Battle, HIS Battle, and he was loving every second of it, even the rain was irrelevant to him right now, this was his Battle, his time to show what the Char-family had been bred for, his time to show that he was worthy of all that had been built up ahead of him. Now, it wasn't the best hit, he'd only managed to clip it on the left wing, which it couldn't use too well anyway due to the rain, but he wasn't experienced, and a hit was a hit, that wouldn't detract from what had been build up in him from hundreds of his ancestors. Spearow on the other hand, wasn't too pleased so far, it wanted some warmth, and here this Charmander had attacked it, sure it had been acting hostile, sure Spearow were known to be aggressive, but that didn't mean the bird had to like it did it? Now on top of the cold, it had an open wound on it's wing, sure the pain was numbed by the cold, but looking at the Charmander it knew the look in it's eyes, and it knew that this is what it felt like for it's prey, that's what they saw. That alone was enough to tell it that it was no longer in control of this situation. With it's wound, and how cold it was, running wouldn't work, the look in the Charmander's eyes told it that the Fire-Type would chase after it, it would be hunted if it ran. So the only other option was to attack, attack and hopefully drive the Charmander off, or the Trainer, if it could do enough, the Trainer might flee with the Charmander and allow Spearow to escape. It had never wanted to be on the "wrong side", and now it was, the sooner it got out of this the better. So the Spearow charged at the Charmander for a Peck, it wished it had something stronger, but that was the best it could do, it's beak was sharp at least, like Charmander Spearow's were bred to hunt, so they were good at it, it was just a shame that Spearow was bred to hunt in the air, and not the ground since it meant Charmander had the advantage. Still, Spearow knew how to fight on it's feet, and it managed to "stab" the opponent with it's beak right in his stomach. The attack clearly caused some pain, but it did nothing to stem the tide that Spearow knew was to come, once they got into a fight, any of the Char-family would ignore their wounds to concentrate on attacking the enemy, without much thought of defense, they were unrelenting, an onslaught of fire and claws that was to be given wide berth, and Spearow had just picked a fight with it. And so their first attack as trainer and Pokémon partner was a perfect hit, not a critical hit or anything special but it had landed on its target. Avila had been right on choosing Blazebit as her partner, though there was no offense to the other two starter Pokémon that Professor Elm had kept in his lab. Those two had their own strengths and weaknesses, just as Blazebit did. But something about this Charmander had gotten Avila excited over. And now she was learning a bit more on what that excitement had been over, he made a successful attack and the joy of fighting seemed to course through him. Even with the horrible conditions that he was enduring as well as the Spearow, he was going to give him and herself one heck of a fight.
However she let out a gasp of surprise to see when Blazebit was hit as well, the two evenly matched, both having the exact amount of strength in a fight. This would be certainly a fight to remember, and it was her first battle. But it seemed like Blazebit hadn’t moved a bit from the injury, she was sure it was going to hurt. But she would no doubt reward him at the end of the battle as relief started to come to her seconds later seeing that Blazebit still stood.“Chaar, char. Char!” (Is that all you got? I could go for more; you and me will put up a good fight.) Blazebit said, as he swished his tail a bit showing he was ready for more commands from his trainer.
Though Avila had gone through the options, it certainly seemed like there wasn’t much that they could use attack wise, but what she noticed was how heavy the attack was. Maybe that was what they could do, slowly change back and forth between growl and scratch, it was a good combination and it was all they could afford now. She was sure when Blazebit leveled up more there would be a wider range of attacks for the two to choose from. Not to mention if the fight did get worse for Blazebit, she had another advantage, having a healing potion that could recover some of his health. But it wouldn’t be all; it would be enough for him to last the battle.
“Now, Blazebit use Growl!” She said knowing that the growl attack would hopefully slim down Spearow’s attack so Charmander could have another advantage.

The Spearow cawed at this Charmander's willingness to keep getting up and fight. It was admirable, but...not enough by the Spearow's standards. Still, Blazebit was faster than the Spearow itself, and it proved very futile to try and out speed him. Blazebit was quick to step forwards, taking the first chance he had in order to breathe in deeply and release a strong growl that made Spearow back down, if just a bit. Though it wasn't like Spearow had no plans to retaliate. Actually, it was going to do just that. With one swift movement, it was back up in Blazebit's face. It gave a low warning growl at first, and as soon as it was confident enough, it released a cry that matched Blazebit's before. The daunting move forced Blazebit to realize that they were at the moment, easily matched for power, and they'd have to play out this whole thing oh so carefully. With almost a jocular, mocking caw, the Spearow seemed to be challenging Blazebit. Would he have the gall to come forwards and try to attack again? Or would he be a sissy little lizard and stay there, by the saftey of his adorable little master? _________________________________________________ Hey, Hey, it's Charmander VS. Spearow! These two were certainly evenly matched, if the Spearow’s level had been down by one he proved to be a formidable opponent. This meant that the two would certainly have a good memory of a first battle. Blazebit’s first battle would certainly show many things, his strengths, and some weaknesses in the mix as well. For now though it was too hard to tell, the two Pokémon were evenly matched. When Spearow used his own Growl attack Blazebit had flinched just a bit, but none the less, like the previous attack recovered a few seconds later, showing that he was ready for much more.
“Wow, you guys are evenly matched it seems. No one is tired yet.” Avila said with a bit of surprise, as she looked back at Blazebit and then back at the Spearow as she decided on what to do next. Now Blazebit waited patiently as Avila began to bring out her next decision, and from the looks of things, he was certainly ready for much more.“Blazebit, use Scratch!” She commanded. But what she had noticed now was that there was a difference in the weather. It was starting to get warmer out, the hail had disappeared as Blazebit’s tail was no longer steaming, and he probably was feeling a lot less pain too. But this didn’t change much; the two were still on equal footing as far as Avila could tell. It was going to be a difficult battle to see who the victor was.
And so with that, the young lizard pokemon came forward after hearing his command from his trainer right at the Spearow, showing that he hadn’t been frightened by the mocking growl. And once he thought he was close enough he prepared for a scratch attack towards the bird Pokémon.

Watching Blazebit cautiously, it seemed the scruffy birds caw did little in trying to stir some terror into the flaming tailed lizard. In fact, his seemed to care very little, the orange scaled creature still standing there with his clawed hands slightly raised. This was starting to become more hassle than it was really worth, all it wanted was a bit of warmth after that foul weather. Flapping it's wings to release a few more specks of water which had rudely made themselves home within it's wings, the avian truly wasn't impressed. Even this fight wasn't warming it up and they had been pecking and tackling for quite a while now. It's not that the bird was bored, it was just because their power level was so similar that things were close. It preferred easy battles where it could just smash it's beak into an opponent and flutter off victorious. Nevertheless, it was going to continue and finish now that it had started.
Amazingly, it was prepared for the fast footed Charmander to step forward first and after hearing the words from the female trainer, it knew that the time for growling had finished. Bracing itself for a heavy attack, the Spearow glared with it's piercing eyes, watching as Blazebit stomped forward. Feeling his feet splashing through the odd shallow puddle from the rain, the Charmander was too focused on his target to care about his damp feet. Holding both his arms by his sides loosely, the lizard sped forward, smirking as the Spearow lifted it's wings and curving them in front of it's body as to act like a shield. Not going to be easy on his very first battle opponent, Blazebit skidded to a halt mere inches in front of the avian, lifting his claws before crashing them down.
Slicing and dicing multiple times, the Spearow winced behind it's wings as the feeling of the sharp claws teared across it's delicate skin. Clenching it's beak shut, it was clear the bird had finally had enough. Pushing it's wings forward forcefully, Blazebit staggered backward slightly, scowling in the direction of the avian. Ready to get it's own back, the Spearow used it's talon claws to bolt right across the ground, holding up it's beak before pecking down furiously on the lizard's chest. Stepping back again and brushing a claw down on his injury, Blazebit seemed slightly uncomfortable. Unlike the Spearow, whose lose of energy was more obvious as it had started to breath heavily.

As Avila looked back at the Spearow seeing how far they had progressed in the battle, it was starting to be clear on who the winner would be. Blazebit was showing some fatigue in the way he moved, but it was more obvious in the battling Spearow. She wasn’t sure now if this was a good chance to capture the pokemon, but it did make her feel bad, this was Spearow’s home land. And she and Blazebit had been walking through on it. But still she didn’t understand why the Spearow was after her and Blazebit. She did know that Spearow could be heavily territorial. Was it that reason? Or was it for some other reason? None the less she had given Spearow a final chance before it could flee before messing with her Charmander. And from the looks of things, one move might do it for the Spearow, which is if it suddenly gained the upper hand; her Charmander would be in trouble.
“Blazebit let’s see if this is the finishing move. Use Scratch!” She called out for Charmander to use the attack. If Charmander was in trouble she could flee from the battle, but she also recalled that she had several items in her bag that might help Blazebit in the fight. If his health got too low in it she could use one of the potions that he had. It might not have fully recovered him, but it was enough to make sure that Blazebit could finish the battle.
With the command from the trainer Blazebit came forward in an attempt to attack Spearow again, but would it successfully dodge the attack like it almost had last time? It was hard to say, he had been doing pretty good so far and hoped that it would continue. It certainly had come a long way in this battle.

Having dragged on with a somewhat matched response from both corners, it seemed that things were going to be become decisive in this next round. With Blazebit's fire on his tail now burning brightly, despite the fierce downpour of rain, it seemed that nothing could dampen his blazing spirits. The Spearow on the other hand, while beaten, looked as if it could still deal a fair amount of pain with its sharp beak. If it was suitable for pecking apart its would be prey, it was going to be more than adept in using it for battle. Thankfully though, with Blazebit charging forward, roused by the order imparted to him by Avila, there would be no such fatal wounding from the flying avian. Winding back its claws, Blazebit went swiping forward with its sharpened claws raking across the bird's body. The blow was fairly deft and it seemed to have knocked the Spearow unconscious as it lay on the muddied floor. A victory well earnt?! Wild Battle

Your Charmander fought courageously and has levelled up! It went up by 2 levels and is now Level 7! Blazebit learnt the move Ember!
Still laying their lifelessly, it was almost as if the avian was pretending to be dead to play a small little joke. Having given it quite a while, the Spearow suddenly sprung up from the spot and with a new found look of rejuvenation about it, made a loud squawk to Blazebit as well as Avila to let them know it held no hard feelings. While Blazebit had defeated it good and proper, the Spearow looked as if it wanted to join Avila regardless, all too amazed by her strength as a trainer... While not to mention it would mean getting out of this atrocious weather that was plaguing the route. Travelling along in comfort and care with some trainer sure beat being a wild Pokemon, that was for sure. The defeated Pokemon looks to you pleadingly. Do you accept Spearow in your Party? SpearowName: Aero Gender: Male Level: 4 Moves: Peck, Growl Ability: Keen Eye Nature/Personality: Adamant Ooc: Okay, I read through the rules seeing that the safeguard only lasts until you get your first gym badge. Bic: Although Spearow was down and out, it still seemed to have some strength left over. Blazebit was poised for another attack when he heard it from his trainer. Avila on the other hand was a bit unsure on this one, though she wanted to be a great dragon trainer, it would certainly be a while before she came across her first dragon Pokémon. Likely it would happen in Blackthorn when she reached the dragons den. Of course, there could be other ways of getting a dragon Pokémon that might surprise her. “Blazebit wait. Let’s add this Spearow to our team. He is certainly a strong one and he respects us now after that battle.” She said as she came over to the Spearow, Blazebit meanwhile followed after his trainer to see what she would do, and did eventually relax. “Well Spearow, welcome to the team. You put up one fight back there; I think you deserve a spot with us.” She offered as she tried to think of a nickname for the pokemon. One eventually did come to her, “I think I’ll name him Aero.” She said after finally thinking of one. “Charr, charr. Charr! Charrmander.” (We already met back there. But my name is Blazebit and welcome to the team. You are one impressive pokemon.) Blazebit said already showing some signs of happiness in him. The Pokémon had already met in battle, but still it couldn’t have hurt for a bit of a friendlier introduction.

Avila and Blazebit didn't get all that much time to reintroduce themselves politely to the newly named Aero as yet another bird was coming into view! At first it appeared a tiny black dot was falling from the sky but as it grew larger it infact turned out to be a Pokemon or more specifically a Pidgey. Looking as if it was about to fly right into the female trainer, the brown coloured bird actually swooped right over her shoulder, narrowly missing her face and perching itself on a nearby branch. For a moment, it sat perfectly still, almost as if thinking what it had just flown by. Quickly forgetting it, the Pidgey began ruffling up his feathers, making it's body seem more large and fluffy than it really was. Stretching out it's wings at great lengths, the bird began moving it's head from right to left, then back again. This went on back and forth a number of times before it suddenly fluffed itself back up again, shooting it's beady black eyes to the floor as if spotting something.
"Oooooooohhhh!" It cooed, fluttering down from the trees onto the dirt path below. This bird seemed a little simple, not even picking up on the presence of Avila yet. Oddly, it began picking up leaves and twigs, tossing them powerfully to one side as if trying to clear the area. "Piidoo! Piidoo!" it chirped deeply every time its head moved. Every now and again a twig was seem somewhat tasty and instead of chucking it straight away, began dragging it's small beak across it, as if eating the bark, "Pi-pi... PIIDOO!" As the area around it became clear, the Pidgey began oddly spreading its wings out once more, fluttering hem about manically whilst chirping up to the sky. Suddenly, it turned on the spot and squawked at the traveling group, perhaps it knew they were there all along? Well, it had cleared a space so now it was time for a battle.
A Wild Pidgey (Level 6) appeared !!

Another bird Pokémon, in fact this one right into her as she tried to dodge it but the Pidgey had missed completely. What was with this Pokémon? Well Avila wasn’t that surprised since this forest seemed to be full of them. Though the Pidgey had startled her a bit, she quickly regained her confidence again since she knew she couldn’t act frightened with her Pokémon, they would sense it. She looked back at her two Pokémon, trying to figure out which one to use. Aero had proven his worth earlier in a fight and maybe it was his turn to battle again. If he couldn’t handle the battle, she could switch out to Blazebit either that or she could use a potion to help restore a good chunk of Aero’s health. “It looks like we got ourselves into another Pokémon battle. Aero, I’m sending you out, this time.” She said starting to command the battle once more. She felt confident again knowing that her Pokémon were still young but they could certainly put up one fight.
“Speeerrrow! Spearrr!” (I’ll see what I can do this time. I won’t go down easily, not like our first battle.) Aero said as he came out in front as she let Blazebit rest and take a break from the battle. Aero was not afraid of this bird Pokémon, they weren’t at all scary as far as he was concerned. The Spearow species along with Fearow were rather strong and confident in battle. Though just like Pidgey he ruffled his feathers up showing that he wanted to be just as intimidating.
Now Avila had to make a move, what would she choose? Well Aero had two moves to pick from, and perhaps using her same tactic as before might work like last time. “Aero use Growl on the Pidgey.” She commanded as Aero went forward opening its beak to let out a fierce growl in an attempt to scare the Pokémon, and also lower the attack of it.

Pidgey was looking rather forward to this fight, it never liked Spearow's and it could tell that this one was weaker than it, it should go rather well compared to some other Battles it had gotten itself into in the past. It wasted not time in charging for it's Tackle attack, it wanted to see how well the Spearow could take a hit before it did anything else. It crashed right into the target, hitting Spearow's head, which cause some pain to the thing's neck due to the impact and knocked it down. After the impact, Pidgey assessed the target as Areo stood back up, it turned out the answer was "not very well", not very well at all. That thing had taken a huge amount of damage from Pidgey's single Tackle, it couldn't wait to hit it again. But Areo wasn't out yet, after standing up he took a deep breath for his Growl, and released it out the Pidgey while flapping his wings and standing as aggressively as he could, and while this of course didn't do any damage, it filled the Pidgey with fear, and reminded it why Spearow were higher up on the food chain than Pidgey. But it got over it mostly, it's attack was still lowered due to a sense of fear though. It felt the fear even though Areo was limping back to his Trainer from his wounds. Battle Pidgey | Level 6| Health: 22/22 HP [100%]Status: Normal; Attack -1 Nature Effect: N/A Attack A successful Tackle. Vs. Areo | Level 4| Health: 6/18 HP [33%]Status: Normal Nature Effect: Attack +1, SP Attack -1. Attack: A successful Growl.

“Aero!” Avila exclaimed a bit shocked on how the battle had started. Aero was already starting to show some signs of weakness from the wounds. And the attack was impressive. She could change out back to Blazebit, which seemed like a decent idea. But she also thought of another idea. She had several items with her in her backpack that would hopefully help her in this situation. She quickly took out what appeared to be a purple like item, a potion. She sprayed it over where she could tell were Aero’s wound was in hopes that it would restore Aero’s wings.
Another advantage she had over the wild Pokémon, some of them couldn’t restore their health as easily as others making it difficult in some cases. She hoped this would help Aero gain some ground. If not she’d switch back to Blazebit, he was stronger than the Pidgey by a level which would hopefully change some things around with the two.
“Here’s a potion to heal some of your health. I hope it helps us in the battle.” She assured the bird Pokémon who seemed to still be getting used to the feel of the potion it stung a bit but it would certainly fade over time as he poised for another order. But since that had taken Avila’s turn, it was Pidgey’s turn again for an attack. But she hoped that the growl had given them some help as well.
