Shoving The Tongs Into The Fire [F]

[Blackbird]

A young girl, with lunar colored hair, limped into Cherrygrove, a Pichu on her shoulder and a Charmander at her side. Her belt held a full team of six Poke Balls, each with a kanji or two above the little button. Her red-brown eye scanned the ground, the other hidden behind her hair. As she passed the Pokemon Center, she suddenly turned into the room, sitting down at a PC that was hidden off to the side. She began to type quickly, working slowly. She worked on hacking another trainer’s PC box, and soon grinned in success as a Poke Ball materialized. She quickly shoved the Poke Ball into her pocket, clicking into her box and putting Sandy into her box.

She left the center before she could be noticed, and resumed her journey, walking throughout the city.

As she walked, she suddenly grabbed four of the six Poke Balls from her belt, releasing the Pokemon inside.

The first red beam formed a cocoon, snow white in color, with a silky appearance and crimson red eyes. The second beam formed a owl-like Pokemon, with brown and tan feathers. It rested on only one foot, but bounced between its two feet. It gave a low hoot before leaping into the air and beginning to fly around. The third beam formed another avian, though this one was more pigeon-like. Its feathers were tan and cream, but it rested on two feet. It, too, leapt into the air and followed the owl as they began a game again to tag. The final beam formed into a green, reptilian creature. ‘Ko? Treecko?’ it asked, tilting its head at her.

“I’m gonna call you… Taka.” she spoke aloud, and it tilted its head before shrugging and clambering onto her shoulder.

Haley chuckled, watching the birds play before leaning over and picking up the cocoon, holding it close to her chest, nestled in her arms like a baby as she walked through the city, hoping to find some Pokemon to battle.

[Tiki]

The white colored female trainer, with a gecko on her shoulder and her arms holding a cocoon carefully, was strolling through the streets of Cherrygrove City. However, her Hoothoot and Pidgey's friendly tag had stirred what looked like a commotion to the surrounding Pokemon in the area. Even though most Pokemon were aware that the two birds belonged to Haley, a young fledgling was quietly watching, and decided to join the "fray".

The jade-colored, beautiful but small bird dove downward and first faked a peck toward Sensei, causing the round owl to hop away. Then, the belligerent bird turned around and squawked, flying its wings and just flew toward Hokori. The wild and young Taillow acted as if it was stopping a fight.

Although, a fight was what the Taillow got itself into.

Haley chuckled as the duo of avian’s fluttered through the air, chasing each other in a playful game. Her other Pokemon watched the pair with envy, wishing that they, too, could fly free. The fire-type lizard starter puffed up, waiting for the day when she, too, could fly with them- a strong dragon.

The reddish-brown eye widened when a jade blur dove down, nearly hitting Sensei, causing the rotund bird to let out an indignant sound. A small chuckled issued forth from her mouth. Did the shiny avian actually think they were fighting? But, she was going to get more than she came for.

“Hokori, Sensei, come back!” the two avians flew to her side, curious as to what she would do. “Honou, used Ember!” she called, and the fire-type charged forward, inhaling deeply and igniting the dust before preparing to launch the flames at the avian.

Haley slid a Poke Ball into her hand, ready to use it on the next turn. She really wanted this shiny avian!

[Sacred Fire]

It looked like things were not starting off well for the shiny Taillow. The two other bird pokemon were sent back into their pokeballs as they were avoiding an attempt for a battle. It would have been exciting to fight some other flying type pokemon, but it seemed like that wasn't going to happen now. The taillow seemed disappointed at that, but watched anyways as the girl sent out her pokemon that she was going to use, she sent out a Charmander, the Taillow had seen at least a few of these around, they were the pokemon that were being picked up at a nearby town and Taillow had some experience just not a lot.

Before the Taillow could attack Honou had his chance and took it. She inhaled heavily as her stomach began to boil with warm water in side, and it wasn't long before he released it into the air, sending a stream of flame at the bird. It sent the bird flying and winced from the pain as its feathers were scorched and smoking painfully. It looked like a bad sight from where Honou was it had been a good thing that he was not a flying type, like the Taillow was.

The Taillow was covered in burns as it managed to stand back up straight in the air after trying to put out the flames. Although they were small, it could have been a lot more damage, the Taillow was lucky for that part at least. Now it was the exhausted Taillow's turn as it tried to retaliate for Honou as its swooped down and pain could be seen in its eyes. The burn was starting to take effect as it jabbed its beak into Honou and left a pretty bad gash.

Haley smirked as the Charmander’s flames shot forward, striking the shiny avian and causing it to cry out. “Good job, Honou!” she cheered, the rest of her team shouting similar encouragement. “Keep it up!” the female fire-type bobbed her head, and flared up her tail.

The whole team flinched in synch as the Taillow dove down, scratching the shiny orange scales with her beak. Honou winced, but it was obvious she hadn’t taken too much damage. Haley expanded the empty Poke Ball in her hand, feeling the familiar shape fill her palm. “Honou, back up!” the fire-type, now familiar with this procedure, bounced back to her side, smirking at the avian as Haley hurled the Poke Ball through the air, hoping that it would capture the shiny.

[Ŀėx.]

Taillow spotted the Pokeball in the trainer's hand and panicked. Haley wasn't the first person to try to catch the rare Flying type but so far she was the closest. The bird fluttered its wings weakly, suffering from fatigue and burns. How was it going to get out of this mess? The capsule was thrown, it closed in on the wild Pokemon and tapped down between its wings, sucking it inside.

The red and white orb dropped to the pavement from mid-air, scuffing it slightly. Taillow pecked at the walls, rammed them with its body as hard as it could, feeling claustrophobic and trapped. Outwardly the ball rolled a few times before the dinging sound stopped and the capture device went still. Haley had added a new Pokemon to her team! But it would take time before she fully earned its friendship.

Nature/Personality: Skyjewel wasn‘t happy about being captured. She believed herself to be the protector of the wild Pokemon in Cherrygrove, and believes that she failed her job by being captured. However, after discovering the love that Haley holds for her Pokemon, she starts to rethink her feelings.

Haley gave a loud cheer as the Poke Ball dinged, signaling the capture of her first shiny. “Yes! Good job Hon!” she laughed, and the fire-type raced forward, grabbing the Poke Ball and passing it to her. Haley scanned the Poke Ball and typed the Taillow’s information into her Pokedex. She scribbled the avian’s name onto the Poke Ball before releasing it, watching it vanish to the lab.

All her Pokemon crowded Honou, congratulating her. She laughed softly, rubbing the back of her head. “Aww, it was nothing!’ [/b] she smiled.

Haley grabbed all but two of her Poke Balls from her belt. “’Kay guys, I’m gonna call y’all back so you can rest.” she returned everyone but Honou and Taka, reclining against a nearby building. “Hon, Taka, will you flush out a wild Pokemon for me?” she asked, and the pair separated, searching the city for a wild Pokemon to battle.

The street was fairly calm and relaxed, with a few locals wandering down the sidewalks with their arms full of groceries. Further off by a freshly re-painted street sign, a little pink kitten was chasing leaves as a slight breeze rustled them across the street. As soon as it tried to pounce on the greenery it would be swept just out of reach, over and over. The wild Pokemon was so distracted it didn't notice the delivery truck till it honked loudly and swerved, barely missing the kitten and racing past. Heart beating like a rapid drum, the Skitty peeled out and bolted away from the street, accidentally running into Haley in its panic. It stared up at her pupils dilated and fur puffed up.

A wild Skitty(level 7) is startled and might attack!
Choose a Pokemon to battle?

Haley and her team all jumped at the sudden loud sound of a semi-truck giving a loud honk, before the ear-killing sound of tires skidding filled the air. Concerned, she walked towards the sound, only to be smashed into by a startled looking Skitty. She looked at it in shock before stepping back and grabbing a Poke Ball from her pocket. Enlarging it, a beam of red light shot out, forming a spiky-looking cocoon. “Sil-Silcoon!”

Haley, Taka, and Honou looked at the cocoon. “Sentaku, use Poison Sting!” she commanded, and the Silcoon narrowed its eyes before opening its mouth and forming the poisonous barbs in its throat, ready to shoot them.

Skitty arched its back and bristled at the sight of an opponent, turning around and flippantly swirling its tail in a disarming fashion. Growing up in the Cherrygrove alleys, it had picked up a few tricks.

Sentaku tried not to let it get to him as the silken cocoon fired out a few poisonous barbs in the pink kitten's direction. Skitty meowed as they hit its shoulder and shook itself, knocking the spikes free. Then it took up a defensive stance with a warning hiss. So far it looked like the wild Pokemon had luck on its side and the venom had not taken hold.

Haley frowned as the Skitty used the disarming Tail Whip. If it used that several more times, Sentaku would be doomed. “Don’t let the Tail Whip catch you off guard!” she ordered, and Sentaku blinked, though he could feel his defense weakening. He mentally prepared himself, wanting to attempt to bypass the effects of the Defense-lowering attack.

Sentaku bobbed in a sort of nod, launching the poison stings and striking the Skitty. However, the poison didn’t take, causing Haley to curse. She looked at Taka. “Taka, trade out with Sentaku!” Taka nodded and leapt forward, while she pulled out the bug-types Poke Ball and recalled him. “Now Taka, move back!” the grass-type gave her an odd look and backed up. She pulled out an empty Poke Ball, enlarged it, and lobbed it towards the normal type. “Poke Ball, go!”

[Sacred Fire]

As Taka was called out to the battle field the green treecko flicked his tail as he began to quickly adjust to the area around him. But Skitty took this opportunity to attack as he came out onto the battle field. The Skitty raced forward on all four tiny pink paws and struck Taka on the side where the Treecko cried out from the pain. Taka however still stood strong as he had plenty of strength left in him. However instead of being able to retaliate he heard Haley call him back and he did exactly that. He remained standing nearby Haley to wait and see what she would do.

Before the Skitty could attack again and take advantage of the situation, Haley launched a pokeball in its direction. The pokeball began to spin in a clockwise manner as it soared through the air and soon it wasn't long before it opened and engulfed the Skitty into it. The Skitty disappeared in a red flash as the pokeball dropped down on to the ground, and took the place of the normal pokemon. The pokeball rocked once, twice, a third time and finally...click!

Haley successfully captured the Skitty. It was certainly a tough challenge but it had been one to remember. There was a new member added to Haley's team, and Skitty would be ready for its new owner when Haley needed the normal type pokemon.

Haley, Taka, and Honou cheered as the Skitty was captured. “Yes!” she laughed, stepping forward and writing down the male Skitty’s name on his Poke Ball, watching as it popped into nothing. She hoped that the trainer with the Unovan Pokemon trainer was still there- she had heard great things about Purrloin.

“Let’s go to New Bark, there’s a feline Pokemon I want to trade.” Honou and Taka nodded, and Haley limped through the path leading to Newbark Town, where she would receive a brand-new Unovan feline.

TIME SKIP

Haley smiled at her partners as she walked back into Cherrygrove, feeling a dull ache in her leg and a sharp pain in her blind eye. Attempting to make that trip in only a day had seriously taken everything out of her. But she still needed to do several things before she could rest.

First, she turned and walked into the Pokemon Center, stepping into one of the stalls that contain PCs, sitting down and logging in. She placed Taka’s Poke Ball into the system- he had become too aggressive, and she hoped some time in the lab would mellow him out. She then put the two avian’s Poke Balls in, planning on training them later. Lastly, she then placed in the Poke Ball of her cocoon, Sentaku. She then selected four Pokemon to be returned to her party: her feline, April, her shrew, Sandy, her mutant Skitty, Medea, and her rescued beaver, Stumpy.

She attached their Poke Balls to her belt as she logged out, turning to Honou, whom had been watching. “Hey Honou, I’ve been thinking…” the fire-type gave her a look. “Should I show off my scar? I mean…” the fire-type nodded. “Yeah, you’re right! I should show it off! I mean, it’s a part of me!” with that, she moved her hair out of the way, showing the three scars that stretched from her hair line to her chin, blinding her right eye. She walked out of the Pokemon Center, ignoring the stares, and raising her chin. Honou growled at the people, and they looked away, seeing the smoke emitting from the fire-types maw.

Once she was outside, she turned towards route 29. “Wanna explore there?” she asked, and Honou nodded, racing forward, Haley close behind.

The Charmander nodded, and wagged her flame-tipped tail. They turned the Pokemon Center, where Haley sat down at the PC and began to switch around her team. She put in all her Pokemon, then pulled out the ones she wanted. Honou, Sentaku, Skyjewel, Taka, Belle, and Yokina. After a moment, she logged off, put their Poke Balls on her belt, then walked a couple down and began to go to work. She managed to hack another Pokemon, this one a rodent from the Unova region. Haley smirked and walked outside, deciding to look for Pokemon inside the city. She let out the fire-type Charmander, who immediately began to search the immediate vacinity for good Pokemon, Sentaku, who she cuddled in her arms, then let out her new shiny avian, Skyjewel. The green avian glared at her, and hopped a few feet away, watching her distrustfully. Haley set Sentaku down for a moment and crouched, offering her hand to the avian, who stared at her for a moment. She fluttered forward and landed on her hand, causing a grin to split Haley's face. The avian fluttered up to her shoulder, and Haley let out Taka, who broke off a stick from a nearby bush and chewed on it like one would chew on a toothpick. Belle was let out, and she ringed happily at the sight of her rescuer-turned new owner. Yokina was let out last, and climbed onto her free shoulder. Haley picked Sentaku up again and cradled him in her arms while Honou looked for wild Pokemon for her friends to battle.

"Bulbasaur, Bulbasaur!~" a Chatot chanted, who came from nowhere. Well, maybe somewhere near Cherrygrove City, though how did this flying Pokemon began chanting the word "Bulbasaur"? Perhaps, this Pokemon had just encounter one and picked up the word playfully or idiotically.

The bird flapped its wings casually and squawked this ambiguous word. It was flying closer and closer to Haley, while still chanting this word. It noticed the Charmander walking by her, and other Pokemon around her. However, it was still squawking "Bulbasaur" crazily like a madman... or madbird.
