Cherubi knew that Martin's Pokemon were still following orders but the series of tackles it had taken were getting on it's last nerve. The grass type was not a vengeful Pokemon in the least but even it believed in karma. Tired of being pushed around Cherubi had already tried increasing it's size to thwart off his Pokemon's attacks but as it was still getting attacked Cherubi had to return with another attack of it's own. As Martin switched Pokemon the switch provided an excellent opportunity to get a bit of revenge and hopefully get the trainer to show some mercy. If not there was always room for more escalations if necessary. As soon as Thief pointed to the snow at his feet Cherubi made a blind dash towards him. It's increased size helped cause additional damage to the cat who was too focused on the snow to pay the plant any attention however he was quick to fix his mistake. Before the cherry could make a second strike he slashed his claws across the snow sending a small pile of snow towards the grass types face. The snow hit Cherubi in it's eyes not only obscuring it's vision but the cold caused it to go numb as well. The small Pokemon was not yet out of the fight however as the attack had only increased it's will to fight. Taking in all the energy it could Cherubi grew even larger in size. It had more than tripled it's original size by now as it looked at it's new foe the best it could still being partially blinded by the snow. Cherubi was going to give this kitty a fight to remember even if it was at a disadvantage at the moment. Martin Growth GardenerBefore Thief could discern, if the snow was a proper replacement for sand, he was pushed down head first into the icy thing. He spluttered and hissed, jumping up with hurt pride and anger. How dared it! Furiously, he glared at Cherubi, and retaliated sending a slash of snow its way. The not intended close-up had at least told Thief it would work just as well. He swung his tail, still angry after his first revenge hit, and planned for what to do next. Martin stepped further back, as Thief was forced to the ground. He had a sound respect for battling Pokemon, and wouldn't want to get caught in between. He preferred to control the matter from a safe distance, so he would have to move, when they moved. "Cool it, T'ief," he admonished, when Thief uttered his angry dissatisfaction at facing the ground. "Scratch now. Easy. We want the grass type with us." He explained next, and watched the Cherubi grow even more in size. It was a funny move, and he wondered where it found the nutrition in this frosty place. It looked more like it belonged in the warmth of springtime. Thief almost hissed again, as Martin told him to calm down, but he had just gotten Martin's goodwill back, and he wouldn't put that at stake already. He forced air to move slow in and out of his lungs, stretched his claws out, and watched the Cherubi for a weak spot in its ever growing flesh. (Ooc: Thief uses Scratch)

As angry as the Purrloin was, the orders for going easy on the cherry Pokemon had to be obeyed. Taking out any frustrations in the scratch though... that wasn't against the rules, right? Cherubi grew to it's larger size and while this did make it a bigger target in theory, it meant that it would be packing a harder punch in the long run. Thief would have to be careful not to be caught out, even if the feline was using the snow it it's advantage. Cherubi seemed irate still about the Sand Attack, but it couldn't be helped. When an opening was found, Thief darted forward, delicate pawprints being left in his wake. However, as he neared the Pokemon, the prints became deeper, wider, and more feral as his steps lost delicacy. The slashing claws seemed to hurt the Cherubi as they raked across it's larger body, and the Pokemons heads (both of them) let out a sharp cry of pain. Thief skirted back to avoid a retaliating blow, and looked on with a hint of smugness. Cherubi wasn't done, though. The attack didn't seem to do as much, but to be fair, Martin had asked Thief to go easy on the Pokemon. Cherubi wasn't bound by such constrictions. Despite the snow in it's eyes, it began to charge forward, large body gaining momentum as it lumbered forward. Thief attempted to dash to the side, but the body of Cherubi was too wide. Had it been normal size, the feline would have been fine. Unfortunately for Thief, he was tackled with brute force strong enough to knock the cold air from his lungs. When Cherubi bounced back to it's spot, Thief stifled a hiss for his trainer's sake.

Martin Growth GardenerThief was almost enthralled by the double timed cry of the Cherubi, as his claws did their work. Amazing how the two similar sounds on top of each other, made the scream emit a sort of echo within. He was almost ready to try it again, just to see if he could replicate the effect, when he had to dart away, and yet was unsuccesful in avoiding getting hurt. It hurt. The pure size of the grass type, was getting hard to pass up as nothing, but despite the hurt, he refused to express such a weakness. He was sure, Martin wouldn't like it, and he would save the memory of the pain for revenge later. It was his practise after all. Though he succeeded in holding back mosts sounds of discomfort, he wasn't able to hide the slight limp, when he moved next; and breathing was hard after getting the air forced from him that way. He fought to contain his composure, and almost despaired, when he saw his legs tremor under his own weight. Martin would notice that. Martin did notice. He had his eyes peeled for any effects, the attacks would have on the two Pokemon. Thief wasn't as quiet, as he thought, and Martin heard the choked hiss he squashed down the throat. He too saw the shaking limbs, assuming the 'growth' of Cherubi was having its' say. Martin had no doubt Thief wouldn't last anymore rounds. Time to get the joker in play. The Cherubi had yet to use an attack, that could do much damage to a ghost, and though the young Tergi was untested, Martin couldn't ask for much better conditions. "Enough, T'ief." he said, calling the cat back with no more warning than that. As Tergi had shown just a little while ago, she didn't need much persuasion to release herself from the hold of her ball. Martin pricked the ball in his pocket with a finger, and let his hand slip out again, before the ice of Tergi's touch could get to it. The first sign of Tergi, was a purple mist that seeped from the top of the pocket and curled to the ground at his feet. Martin stood firm this time, prepared for the added cold, and before the ghost took full form, he gave his order. "Use Hypnosis."Tergi, though young and inexperienced, had one strong point when interacting with her surroundings. Her species was fine tuned to feel their 'prey', the feelings of other creatures, and Tergi used this ability to determine how to behave appropriate towards her keepers. Her earlier blunder had impressed on her, and she now knew, not to be too close to the human. He hadn't liked her touch. So she kept her distance if possible, and slipped down to the ground. Her supposed opponent confused her though. Maybe she hadn't enough practise yet, to discern between the chaotic emotions of the big cherry. To calm it down with sleep did sound like a good plan. The question was if Tergi would be able to make the needed connection for it to work. She was young, and felt small against the big, red blob, but she could feel from the human, she had no option but to try. He wouldn't accept anything else. (Ooc: Tergi changes in, and tries Hypnosis.)

The amount of times Cherubi had used Growth was now starting to work in it's favour and after the strikes it had managed to accomplish on the Purrloin, the grass type was beginning to realise this. No more was it going to be pushed around by tackles, this time, the Cherubi was big enough to land a pretty serious hit itself. So far it had faced numerous opponents and judging from the call back of Thief, it didn't seem as if Martin had any plans of stopping the occasional switching just yet. With a snide hiss, the dark feline slunk back to the side of his master, to tend to the wounds inflicted by the wild Cherubi. It's little black eyes blinking, eager to spot it's next tackling victim, what instead appeared was something that the Cherubi had never seen before. It didn't have a clear body and was instead floating and wispy. It's purple, gaseous body moving about with ease in the air. It wasn't an avian, that was for sure and it also gave odd a strange aura.
Uncertain of Tergi's form, the Cherubi decided to take defencive measures and used yet another growth. It's body enlarging even further, the cherry was nothing like it's original, small size. Feeling more powerful within itself but still very weary, the Cherubi soon picked up on the fact that Tergi also came across as young and inexperienced, the Gastly floating around almost curiously. Still, the mere sight had sent shivers across the large body of the cherry, so it didn't stop there. With a flick of the leaves upon it's body, the Cherubi unleashed a group of seeds, which opened up with energy draining vines that quickly wrapped around the body of Tergi. Phew, atleast that worked, or that was what the Cherubi was thinking. The vines took effect almost immediately, a bit of energy being drained from the Gastly and floating back toward the enlarged Cherry. It wasn't much but any extra energy at this point was useful.
However, Tergi was forced to ignore the vines wrapped around her being and instead focus on Cherubi. By focus, it was more of an intense stare. Not taking her eyes away from the Cherubi for even an instant, the wild Pokemon couldn't help but stare straight back. It was an odd sight, the two Pokemon merely looking at each other but Tergi was actually working her magic without even realising it. Slowly but surely, the eyes of the Cherubi began to waver until it slouched forward with eyes tightly shut. It had fallen into a deep sleep.

Martin Growth GardenerUnaware, Martin held his breath back while watching the Gastly being attacked by the Cherubi. The young ghost obviously had yet to gain its speediness, since the Cherubi outran it several times by the looks of it. However, the Cherubi had turned cautious at the sight of Tergi, most likely it had never seen anything like her before, and Tergi got off easy. Even more amazing Tergi's Hypnosis actually worked, and Martin breathed out slowly before fishing an empty ball out in the open. The Cherubi's eyes were closed now, but he wasn't sure how deep it slept. Therefore, he moved extra carefully, slipping into the never forgotten habit of being silent while picking around for goodies near sleeping bodies in the dead of night. He readied the Pokeball, and threw it in a small curve toward the sleeping thing. As he let the ball fly, he saw Tergi float closer to the Cherubi in a curious manner, and he took a fast step in between them. He couldn't risk her starting to do, whatever ghosts did, when their prey fell into their trap, and luckily his interference halted her actions. She slinked back, and crawled even closer to the ground, while studying his face with an intense stare. He ignored the stare, refusing to feel uncomfortable by the mere child of a creature, and picked out her own ball. Without uttering a word, he ordered her to return with a demanding look and a nod. Tergi was merely curious, as she got a better grasp of the feelings surrounding the Cherubi. The cautionary edge towards her was commonplace, a thing even the flock she was born to had in her company. She was so used to the background of this particular sense, that she would probably get confused or frightened if it disappeared. The small sting from the vines of the seeds felt odd, and she would have rather been without, but she discovered she couldn't faze out of them. Didn't matter then, she had an order to fulfill, and started in on her staring contest. Tergi had the added advantage of not needing to blink like so many did, and soon the stare of the Cherubi wavered. Tergi felt pride and success soar through her, and when the other's eyes shut down, she made some whisps of fog dance in twirls around her. Curious, she went closer to check just what sort of effect she had had, but was immediately interrupted by a leg from the human. Annoyance and bubbling anger attacked her from the man, and she shrunk back, licking up the emotions in her gaseous body. They tasted bitter with a hint of spice, and they certainly wasn't her favorite, but they did sate a hunger, she hadn't realised she held. She looked at him at the new realisation, feeling an instinctive need to test how other feelings would taste from him. But he had his own plans, and she looked at the ball he held out her, and then looked to her sleeping opponent. (Ooc: Martin throws a Pokeball. Selfdeducting - 6 left.)

Even as Leech Seed sapped a small amount of Tergi's energy Cherubi could sense that it was in trouble. As it stayed in a deep sleep brought on by Hypnosis all the plant could do was have nightmares about what may happen as it was unable to defend itself. It's energy was barely a third of what it had started with and the way things looked that would not be enough to sustain it. Martin had plenty of Pokemon to choose from while Cherubi was on it's own making it even less likely to forge a comeback as it snoozed away. Oblivious to what he had planned the grass type would soon find out how big of a mistake it had made. Cherubi was in too deep a sleep to notice Martin grabbing one of his Pokeball's and even as he tossed the ball towards it the grass type made no attempt to get out of the way. Being hit dead center by the ball it continued to snooze as it disappeared in a red flash of light. The ball then landed on the ground and did not even jiggle in the slightest. It was a truly stunning site as usually a Pokemon would try to break free however Cherubi was so far out of it that sleeping was the only thing in it's plans. It was not long before the ball clicked shut signaling the end of the battle. It was a very tame ending for such a heated battle and a few of Martin's Pokemon grew stronger as the end had finally come. Tergi benefited the most as she was such a low level and she even gained a new move in the process. With the Cherubi down it was time for Martin to decide his next course of action. Dros fought well and gained 1 level from his participation. He is now level 11. Thief gains 1 level thanks to his participation. He is now level 11. Poltergeist Tergi fought well and gained 3 levels. She is now level 5. Tergi has learned Spite. Cherubi has been captured. Please complete the code below. Martin Growth GardenerUnlike Martin, Tergi saw the Cherubi being caught in the Pokeball's red light, and though she hadn't had a mind to notice last time Martin threw one, she got to understand the meaning. Cherubi was no longer an opponent, but added to the flock, and Tergi gave up any idea of staying out longer. She let herself be called back, and settled with only feeling what next would go on outside her ball. For a moment Martin had doubted, if Tergi would do as told, and he thought through several ways of controlling her, if she didn't. Mainly, he would probably have to count on Juun to manage the ghost, since she seemed to have a good relationship with the young spirit. At least until Thief learned a proper dark type attack. But at least he didn't have to put anything to use at that moment. Tergi obliged to go back, and Martin pocketed it once more, before turning to the Pokeball on the ground behind him. He had heard the click of the succesful capture, and didn't care much for other details. He picked up the ball, and put the pokedex to use, before deciding anything for the Cherubi. He was satisfied with his catch, feeling the slight succes of having one more Grass type for his future garden. And a cherry at that. It gave promise of a fruitful place. Next after the Pokedex it was time to check his book of botanics for a good name. It had to start with Prunus of course, and since the Cherubi mostly resembled one of the eatable cherries, a cultivar within Prunus avium. The Pokedex proclaimed the Cherubi was a male, so in the end Martin settled with the cultivar Prunus avium 'Sam'. Finally, he pocketed the Cherubi's ball in a more secure pocket, where he kept things, he wasn't likely to use immediately. Martin took a look around just to check that no surprises had snuck up on him, while the battle had went on. Satisfied with not seeing anything obvious out of sorts, he returned to his walk. The standing still had made him a bit colder, and he walked more briskly to get warmed up. Now that he had been lucky enough to meet and catch the swarm Pokemon he had heard about, he had no other plans than to test out how fast he could think up strategies against the other wild Pokemon in the area, and beat them fast. Until he reached Cherrygrove, that was what he was going to do, though there was no telling if 'life' had other plans for him. CherubiName: Sam (Prunus avium 'Sam') Gender: MaleLevel: 10 Moves: Morning Sun, Tackle, Growth, Leech Seed Ability: Chlorophyll Nature/Personality: Mild (+sp.att,-def). As Martin decided to train his team on his way towards Cherrygrove fate did indeed have plans for him to have another encounter and it was one not many trainers would expect on such a peaceful route. The Pokemon that had decided to cross paths with him was known for it's ability to make dams as well as having a rather silly look which caused trainers to overlook them however this particular Bidoof was a bit stronger than most of the others on the route. The normal type Pokemon had been watching Martin walk for a while while keeping out of sight as it had witnessed his battle with Cherubi and it was not sure if it could last as long as the plant Pokemon did. Unlike Cherubi Bidoof had a very limited choice of attacks however by not fighting him it would just make it's life even harder as it's looks already gave it enough trouble as it was. Hoping it's silly looks would buy it some time until it could come up with a way to not get steamrolled by Martin's team the beaver Pokemon walked out of a tall patch of grass and looked him dead on. Without making a sound the normal type made it's way towards him hoping it's dopey looks would act as a kind of ruse so it could sneak in an attack without taking any damage. If that plan failed there was not much it could fall back on with how young it still was. Realizing that by approaching Martin that he would likely send out a Pokemon for battle Bidoof prepared itself for anything he might throw it's way as the trainers in the area tended to have vastly different teams and one could never be too careful. With the stage set for the battle Bidoof waited on Martin to make a move. It was all ready to charge ahead the moment he sent out a Pokemon as it secretly hoped that the idea of challenging a random trainer to a battle would not come back as something it would regret later. A wild Bidoof (Level 10) has challenged you to a battle. Please select a Pokemon.

Martin Growth GardenerMartin had only walked for a little while, when another Pokemon walked straight out of a tuft of grass and looked at him like it meant business. Martin sighed and rubbed a finger against his forehead, almost in resignation. He had already beat one Bidoof away from his path, and though Martin couldn't tell if it was the same that hadn't got the hint, or a new one, he wasn't about to let this one get away with anything less than a serious reminder of what happened, when one didn't keep away. Martin could of course just send Phyllis at it again. He knew she could make very short work of it, but Martin wouldn't learn anything from this, and neither would the Bidoof. He could either tell it to buzz off, or he could beat it very slowly, so it got into its thick head, that it shouldn't go after him again. Martin picked a Pokeball off his belt and gave the Bidoof a hard look. "I'm telling you this once," he announced as introduction "Either you get out of my way immediately, or I make you suffer through a battle so slow that you regret being alive in the first place."Martin waited a beat. He had no doubt it would understand him. Unlike Cherubi it didn't look so far away in fright, it didn't hear a word. But it did look determined, so he needed it to understand that he wasn't a good choice, if it was looking for a friendly fight. He hoped his face conveyed enough meaning to deter it. However, should the warning not be enough, and the Bidoof went in to attack; but not before; would Martin let Dros out to defend. He would start with the usual Leech Seed then, and maybe follow up with a Growl. Things that would prolongue the battle and sap the Bidoof of strength at the same time. (Ooc: I'm unsure how many of the three requirements to flee a battle you need to meet, so I'm giving two choices for the Mod. 1: Bidoof walks away. 2: Dros uses Leech Seed. (And if I may, Growl as a second move.) I would prefer the Bidoof to walk away though)

Bidoof watched the strange man with intense eyes. As long as it kept up it's ruse, the man would want to battle, yes? Martin wasted no time showing his distaste with the Bidoof for showing itself in his presence. Perhaps his Pokemon were too strong and didn't need to be grouped with the likes of Bidoof? Or perhaps he was just having a bad day and didn't want to battle. Whatever the reason, Bidoof didn't understand. What he did understand was Martin's threat. The cold words chilled down Bidoof's back and looped around it's gut, tightening it in fear. Without so much as another second glance, Bidoof dropped the act and charged clumsily into the grass to run from the battle. The sounds from Bidoof retreating didn't go unnoticed, however. Wild Pokemon watched in horror as Bidoof was bullied out of the battle it wanted. It already had a hard life being a Bidoof, so the least Martin could have done was battle it to make it feel better. The route quickly developed a distaste for the travelling trainer. Even though Wild Pokemon were Wild, there was somewhat of a bond in that, or at least an understanding to have each others back when it came to trainers. Everything else was fair game. One particular Pokemon bristled with anger, sending electric jolts down the soft wool that covered it's body. Mareep watched Bidoof retreat and quickly ran to it's aid. Bidoof was hysterically scared, and couldn't be reasoned with. Mareep decided to take it upon itself to challenge the man instead. Stepping out of the grass that Bidoof had retreated into, it snorted and stared at Martin with an air of determination. Mareep wasn't about to let Martin go unpunished for being so rude to Bidoof. Wild Mareep (Level 10) has come for vengence a battle!

Martin Growth GardenerMartin watched with some amount of satisfaction, when the Bidoof relented and ran scared. That was more like it. Now none of their time had been wasted, and Martin could go back to travelling. He relaxed the hand that had been ready to grasp for Dros' ball, and took one step forward, completely disregarding the noise the escaping Bidoof left in its wake. It had nothing to do with him, other than it proved, the route wasn't as deserted of life as it seemed to. The quiet day so far had given off the sense, that nothing really was around today, even if Martin had already met a couple of the wild Pokemon living here. He didn't get further than that one step though. Another creature stuck its head out from the same patch of grass, the Bidoof had escaped through, and Martin rose an eyebrow at the sight. This one was new at least, and looked even more battle ready than the Bidoof. Martin's hand went back to the belt almost on automatic, while he did some quick thinking. He was only faintly familiar with the sheep, but seemed to remember it having to do with electricity. This thought was confirmed, when it in its challenge let a few sparks dance in its wool. It did leave Martin in a bit of a dilemma though. He wanted to be able to beat back wild Pokemon as fast as possible, so his Pokemon spared the more energi for work. However, he doubted he had anything to make quick work of electric types. At least not yet. He was working on getting a ground type to do the digging for his work, but until then he would just have to do with what he got. He looked the sheep square in the eye, not really caring why it seemed so agitated, and this time didn't hold back in letting Dros out. If he couldn't do it fast, he would just exhaust it, like he had planned for the Bidoof. It was what his current team did best. "Dros, Leech Seed." he ordered promptly. Dros was a bit confused at what was going on with Martin. It was the first day since he met the guy, that Martin was acting like an ordinary trainer, and Dros wasn't really sure how to take that. He had just gotten used to the fact, that Martin would never let any of them do something that didn't pertain to garden work, and now he was throwing them in against one Pokemon after another, and they weren't working yet. If it hadn't been because he was so unsure of what to expect from Martin, Dros might have enjoyed the change more. However, Martin rarely bothered with telling them his plans, and Dros felt like walking on eggshells every time he was sent out. One thing he did know however, was to do as told. That was the safest route in dealing with Martin, and Dros obliged the best he could, squashing down his insecurities and facing the Mareep without a word. This wasn't like the Cherubi, that Martin wanted with him. (Ooc: Dros uses Leech Seed)

The angry Mareep had no doubt about teaching Martin a lesson in respect after showing nothing but rudeness to the poor Bidoor that wanted to battle him. It was full of rage as he selected a Pokemon however fearing the trainer would back up his threats the sheep hesitated to make a move not wanting to face a long battle. Not knowing that Martin seemed to be planning a long battle all it could bring itself to do was merely stare at it's foe trying to get a good read on the situation and that hesitation was the first mistake it made as Dros made his move. Dros fired a seed from his back filled with an energy sapping power. The seed flew towards Mareep before striking it on the forehead and shortly thereafter began to sap the sheep's energy. Before the seed could drain any serious amount of energy however Mareep finally began to make a move of it's own as it now had no choice with it's energy draining by the second. Feeling it's foe would try to make physical contact the next time around Mareep went with an old trick it had learned to weaken Dros's attack and maybe buy it a bit more time. The electric type Pokemon began to growl in a very cute manner luring the Bulbasaur into a false sense of security. Dros could not help himself and his will to harm the young Pokemon fell enough that his psychical strength dropped as a result. He had a slight edge thanks to Leech Seed however with his attack lowered there was no telling how long his advantage would last especially if Mareep made a good choice of moves the next time around. Martin Growth GardenerMartin was surprised, when Dros beat the sheep in speed. Not that he showed it openly. He filed the observation away, putting it down to Dros having grown in strength without Martin noticing, and watched the sheep retaliate more careful than its initial approach had suggested. Martin picked out the next Pokeball, while ordering a Growl from Dros. It didn't matter, what the Mareep did. Martin had plenty of Pokemon to choose from, and he still needed to test his knowledge and their strengths and weaknesses. His next choice was Juun. He had already decided, she would be one of his main fighters. He wouldn't let her naivity and happy-go-lucky demeanor get in the way of that. All he had to do, was keep her fighting and defending herself. She would grow with the challenge, he was sure. "You're up, Juun." he told the ball, and withdrew Dros when his growl had sounded clear in Martin's ear. He blinked against the flash of the change, a bit annoyed by it. It was one of the reasons he hadn't had Pokemon in his 'occupation' at home. The flashing of withdrawing and letting out the beasts was just way too showy, and not for the first time he wondered, why the inventors of the Pokeball hadn't made it more subtle. He shoved his train of thoughts to the back of his head, and watched Juun instead to ensure not to miss the Mareeps reaction to the change. (Ooc: Dros uses Growl. Juun changes in. I do believe that Leech Seed takes 1/8 damage rather than 1/16.)

Using a Growl on the Mareep didn't help relieve the electric sheep's angry tension at all. Instead, this fueled the young Pokemon to use an electric attack. Problem was, it still don't know how to control its electric attacks, and fired a Thunderwave instead at Dros. Thankfully, all it did was slow down the grass type, but the electric Pokemon's stamina were still slowly drained from the infamous Leech Seed. Then, after Martin had switched out Dros for Juun, the Mareep was still a bit having trouble controlling its electricity. With small sparks and static flying around its abundance of fluffy wool, the electric Pokemon let loose another electric attack. This time, it was a Thundershock that zapped Juun a little, and also unfortunately put the part flying Pokemon into paralysis. As static flowed through the grass type's body, the Hoppip could feel that it would be a bit of a struggle to move. Thankfully, Dros's Leech Seed had set in again, and sapped some life back to Juun, recovering some health loss from the electric attack. Once that was over, the Mareep settled down from the brief moment of losing control of electricity, but it was still angry at Martin for being rude to Bidoof, as seen on its angry face.
