As Marchbaby arrived on Route 33 he was very eager to get Honeysuckle's training underway. It was only thanks to Atropos that she was unable to do any damage to his team when he battled her in the Burke and Bentley estate. Her strength impressed him quite a bit even if she was unable to land a single hit. Her determination alone had earned her his respect as most Pokemon that failed to connect that many times would have given up and accepted defeat but she refused to give in until his Net Ball finally overpowered her. That unconquerable spirit reminded him of the Dragon's he had grown up around and their fighting spirit was something that always drove him to do his best.
Honeysuckle had never traveled very far from the estate before and so the route was a rather new experience for her. Marchbaby had spent a decent amount of time in the Union Cave and the routes before hand but he had never really spent much time on the route so he was in a similar situation. Shocker was not too worried however as it's steel armor would likely ricochet most attacks from the Pokemon on the route but it was still curious to see what they could find as well as a good battle was never a bad thing. Poor Cannon Fodder had to stay in his Pokeball for the time being as he could not keep up with the group without having to roll around and Marchbaby wanted him to save his strength just in case. Bonecrusher and Goomy did not fare much better however they remained out of their Pokeball's for the time being to enjoy the sights.
Atropos was the only one not very happy to be on the road again. Like always she was in a bad mood and did not even speak as she hovered around trying to find something to kill her trainer with so she could escape. As they walked down the route the smell of something burning in the distance caught their attention as it could not be a very good sign. The sounds of a familiar Snarl did not help the group calm their nerves as they knew Marchbaby's brother was up ahead somewhere and if the two crossed paths war did not seem very far off. " Great it figures he would be here as well. Let's see what my evil brother is up to. If we run into anyone or anything along the way Honeysuckle I think I will give you a chance to battle." He said as he headed towards the Snarl.

As the duo were locating the sound of a Snarl in the area, they walked for one minute before they encountered a Pokemon obstacle in their path. Floating on the ground a little was a small Meditite, with its eyes closed, legs bent, and arms out in a still position. The fighting and psychic Pokemon had been meditating on this route every early morning, practicing its hearing sense to fine tune the art of reading opponents and environment just by sound alone. It even knew when Marchbaby was around. Even though it doesn't have the the fine hearing of a Zubat, it could detect Marchbaby when he was three minutes away from its position. When the human finally arrived to the scene coincidentally, the Meditite calmly opened its eyes, and casually unfolded its legs to stand. Then, positioning itself like inviting the trainer to a battle, the Meditite got ready and sent a body language to the trainer and his ghost, that the fighting type wanted a battle.

Upon seeing the small Pokemon calmly ask for a battle Marchbaby was more than happy to oblige. It was not quite the Pokemon he was hoping to encounter as it's typing would prove a bit difficult for Honeysuckle even with her level being so high so he decided to have her wait a bit longer before having her first battle. He had quite a list of choices to go with and half of his Pokemon could be potentially very successful if he went with them. " This is a bit of a sticky situation as I was not expecting to run into a Meditite here of all places after that wretched Snarl. If there is one thing I know that sound can never be good news but I know you were not the one to make it. I do have to catch my brother before he can do anything else to harm any Pokemon here but I am willing to battle you before I go after him as he likes to take his grand time anyways."
Bonecrusher and Goomy looked at Meditite with curiosity however Cannon Fodder busted out of his Pokeball with a determined look in his eyes. Having proven himself in battle and being high leveled for a Pineco exploring this route he was confident that he could battle Meditite without any problems. " Well it looks like Cannon Fodder just made my decision for me. It looks like he will be facing you Meditite. Cannon Fodder I must warn you that Meditite are very good at predicting attacks and that allows them to endure hits that would knock other Pokemon out so do not think this will be too easy. Expect it to pull a few tricks to counter your attacks as your speed will not be doing you any favors in this battle."
Not matter what Marchbaby said Cannon Fodder had made up his mind but the young dragon tamer could never pass up a chance to at least give a bit of good advice to his Pokemon before the battle started. He did not want to see his Pokemon get tossed around by underestimating his foe and it was a common mistake to make as he knew on the outside Meditite did not look very tough. " Cannon Fodder I do believe it is time to start this battle. Remember to keep your wits about you and use Bug Bite on Meditite. Remember though to be very careful however as it is a very smart Pokemon."

Taking Marchbaby's advise to the heart.... somewhat, the Pineco hopped on the ground and ready to take a yummy bite out of the Meditite. The psychic Pokemon, having been practicing its meditation, knew full well that the Pineco was a bug type and likely using a physical attack. The Meditite moved agilely as the bug type moved in. Every step that the Pineco moved, the Meditite further dodged the opponent, as if it was reading its opponent's every move. However, after the continues tug-o-war of the Meditite dodging and the Pineco hopping around, the Meditite finally caved in, at a moment of weakness. The psychic type actually take some amount of energy to read the opponent's mind every time. The moment of opportunity came for the bug type when it slipped its dodging, and therefore letting the Pineco bit the Meditite. The fighting type passed out from the super effective attack. As the Pineco hopped back happily that he finally defeat the psychic type. The Meditite got up, nodded a "thank you" toward the Pineco, and then disappeared. Cannon Fodder cried a "you welcome" in response, and then said farewell to the Meditite. It wasn't a bad battle after all.

After watching an impressive back and forward showing between the two Pokemon Marchbaby was very pleased to see Cannon Fodder had an incredible determination that ultimately allowed him to defeat Meditite. Right as the battle came to a close and Meditite walked off the horrible Snarl could be heard in the distance again and he figured Tyler must be battling something as it was not much longer than an even angrier sounding Snarl rocked the trees around him. " Mania does not sound too happy about something right now. She is usually heartless to begin with but something must have ticked her off royally for her to Snarl twice in such rapid succession like that. I can only imagine the levels of destruction those two are causing."
Although he needed to stop his brother before things got out of hand he still needed to train his team some more just in case he had to battle. Tyler did have a few powerful Pokemon with him and Marchbaby was not willing to run into a battle without taking the necessary precautions. The battle with Meditite was a huge help in making those preparations fall into place but more work still needed to be done as Mania would be a handful on her own and Flint would be a very hard foe to take down not to mention anything else Tyler may have gotten his hands on along the way. So while getting his team ready Marchbaby decided to heard towards the sound at a slow pace to buy as much time as he could.
He could hear other noises off in the distance as well and he was sure some of them were still terrified of the Snarl's Mania had been using. He did not blame anything that hid from the noise as it was an awful noise that would suck the bravery out of anything that heard it and replace it with terror and hopelessness. As he came to one of the many areas Tyler had burned to the ground he grew sick in his stomach. " This has got to be put to a stop and soon. We are going to need to train as much as we can before we run into my brother however as he is no pushover." He said to his Pokemon as Cannon Fodder took the lead willing to take a hit from whatever may decide to challenge them along the way.

Marchbaby was stepping closer and closer toward the direction of his brother and it wouldn't be long now before he found him. Considering he had just stepped into the path of Tyler's destruction, the upturned route proved that something was amiss. If not for recognising Mania's unique Snarl, the mere sight of the area would've been enough to turn even the bravest trainer's on their heels and back to Azalea Town! Whatever, or whoever, did this had a great deal of strength behind them and weren't to be trifled with. As his shoes crunched against ash scattered dirt path, his eyes couldn't help but wander between the trees and undergrowth which had been destroyed. This was the home of wild Pokemon and some delinquent had just crushed it all, for not reason other than to quench his own thirst for despair.
All of a sudden, a manic rustle from a partially burnt bush came from the right hand side of Marchbaby. Bursting forth and leaving the front section of the shrubbery bare, as whatever it was brought a wave of crisp leaves with it, a Pokemon made itself known. Clearly in a state of panic from the look on it's face, swift movements and heavy panting, the creature turned out to be a floating Hoppip. Arms flailing in the air as it tried to get away from something as fast as it could, unfortunately, it seemed to run into a completely different problem. Only, the Hoppip was out of control and couldn't slow down, heading straight for Marchbaby and Cannon Fodder! If he didn't act quickly, he would be getting a smack right in the face by this flying Pokemon!

Greatly startled by the poor Hoppip that was trying to escape his brother's path of destruction Marchbaby did not realized until the last moment that Hoppip was headed straight for his face. At the last moment Cannon Fodder leaped into the air to act as a shield protecting him from the frenzied Pokemon. The pine cone Pokemon hardly felt a thing from the collision as the plant Pokemon came to a sudden halt as a result of the collision. " Whoa thanks for the save there Cannon Fodder. This poor Hoppip would have nailed me good there if you would not have intervened. I take it this Hoppip had a run in with my brother as there are not too many people I know that can cause a Hoppip to move so quickly. He must really be raising hell with Mania by his side. For such a small Pokemon Mania sure as hell can do some damage. It is not going to be easy when we fight her as her determination rivals that of even the most aggressive dragons in Blackthorn City. What I would not do to have Draco by my side to put her in her place. Poor Blubber would get torn to shreds by her and she is still far off from becoming a Goodra so I will have to get creative to find a way to stop her."
Taking a deep breath Marchbaby began to speak again. " Anyways hello you poor Hoppip I do hope my brother has not caused you or your kind too much harm. I am here to stop him before he is able to burn all of Johto to the ground. I happen to be raising my Pokemon so they will be able to hold their own with Mania and though most of my team is ready a few of my Pokemon still need to practice more before they will be able to teach her a lesson. Would you mind having a battle with us so we can help you return this route to peace? As Hoppip was not exactly a fast Pokemon and Marchbaby could not wait very long for an answer he had Cannon Fodder stand ready for a battle. " Cannon Fodder if our friend here decides to let use have a practice battle with it use Bug Bite to see how effective it has become after that last battle. It should be pretty strong but a bit more practice can never hurt." Cannon Fodder then waited to see if Hoppip would make a move or not ready to perform a strike of his own if it did.

Blocking off the Hoppip's path before it could bump into Marchbaby, the Pineco had propelled himself into the air, striking the floating plant and causing it to bounce downward and land on the floor. It hadn't been hurt but the Hoppip couldn't help but move in a splashing manner, wildly. It had thought for sure the rampaging trainer from earlier had caught up and attacked it from behind but as it remained flailing, it realised that no more attacks were coming. Opening an eye curiously, the Hoppip was met with Marchbaby, who was amazingly able to hit the nail on the head. Yes! The Hoppip had been running from a trainer and from Marchbaby's explanation, the culprit's seemed to add up.
Floating gently back in the air, the Hoppip squeaked repeatedly, gesturing it's little arms as if trying to respond back to Marchbaby. He wasn't able to understand what it was saying but it was fairly obvious that his words had been enough to raise a response from the wild Pokemon. Then, he brought up another proposition. He was in Azalea to train his Pokemon but tracking down his black hearted brother had become a bit of a side goal. To ensure that he was ready to face him and win, Marchbaby needed to be careful and raise his levels further. Basically, he wanted the wild Hoppip to be a sparring partner.
The Hoppip had witnessed a lot, it's fellow school of Hoppip leaving it's leader behind in order to flee. It didn't know what the other Hoppip was going through, or if it would even survive. In a way, it regretted abandoning it's own kind. If there was a way to get some sort of revenge on Tyler, the grass type wanted to do it. It was small and weak, certainly no match for Tyler but this human on the other hand, seemed prepared to do the dirty work himself. Nodding eagerly, the Hoppip accepted the challenge, all to help Marchbaby grow stronger. Facing the Pineco, unfortunately, it was more one sided than an actual battle. Approaching the Hoppip in bouncing motions, Cannon Fodder wriggled on the spot, only to open a hidden mouth and bite down on the wild Pokemon.
Fainting more out of pure shock, the Hoppip immediately fell to the floor with spiralling eyes but a goofy smile stretched across it's face. It had been helpful... Right?
Cannon Fodder received 1050 exp (+350 extra due to Lucky Egg) and grew to Level 26! (893/2107) +1 Happiness

Being very grateful that Hoppip allowed Cannon Fodder to spar with it so he could get a bit more practice Marchbaby let the poor plant Pokemon rest as he knew Cannon Fodder's attack had taken a ton of energy from the now defenseless Pokemon. By the sounds of Mania celebrating up ahead she had likely grown far stronger than when he had first given her to Tyler and he was beginning to realize just how horrible a mistake he had made. " One heartless idiot is bad enough but give that heartless idiot a Pokemon with the same mindset and there will never be good news to come of it. I knew giving her to him was a bad idea no matter how insane she drove me. Atropos had her moments but Mania was nothing but pure evil mixed with a sneaky nature and a desire for revenge against her family with nothing to lose so she is a true menace."
Hating himself for making such an awful mistake in the first place he was still as determined as ever to stop the pair however Cannon Fodder had still not evolved and before he did it would be suicidal to try and battle anytime before then. Even if he had Kamikaze at his side he would still be weary as Mania would use every trick imaginable to win a battle not caring who was hurt in the process and since Kamikaze was on rest after destroying countless spirits in Ilex Forest she would not likely have the energy at the moment to handle the fox either. It also gave him time to prepare for the next gym as well as he could train Honeysuckle as well if something strong enough came by.
Until then however Cannon Fodder remained his main training goal as the bug was slowly getting enough experience to evolve and Marchbaby was growing excited as Pineco's evolution was part steel type. He already had a decent number of the type on his team but until he could get a Salamence and a Dragonite he did not see the large number of steel types on his team as a bad thing. THough they usually lacked the elemental attacks of his favoirte type they had amazing endurance and some had the physical strength of dragons and he would need that power to stop Tyler. All he could do to gain that power however was to keep trying his luck while keeping a safe distance from his brother until his team was ready.

As all manner of thoughts passed through the mind of Marchbaby, it seemed that one of his deepest regrets was handing Mania over to Tyler in the first place. It was only natural to feel at fault but truly, it was both Tyler and Mania's cynical nature that was the true problem. More than prepared to try and fix his mistake by raising his team to become strong enough to stop Tyler by force, he felt that he still had a long way to go but there was no doubt that with time, results would follow. For now, he kept his attention on Cannon Fodder and it wasn't long at all until another potential foe came into view.
Sitting rather neatly on her hind legs beneath a tree, the Pokemon was a female Nidoran and at that moment, she had her back turned towards Marchbaby. Using her little foreclaws to hold up a berry to her mouth, the Pokemon was gnawing away at the tasty treat she had recently discovered. She hadn't yet had the pleasure of meeting Tyler but depending on Marchbaby's reaction, she was about to be a bit of training fodder for the Pineco. Her ears twitching as his footsteps crunched against the dirt path, the Nidoran gave a quick glance over her shoulder. Not running but not becoming defensive either, she merely stared at Marchbaby.
 A wild Nidoran♀ (Level 9) has appeared! Fight, flee OR...
As one possibility let itself be known before Marchbaby, something else was also able to grab at his attention. Just up ahead, both his eyes and ears couldn't help but notice a tree nearby rustling violently. Perhaps whatever was lurking inside had also been affected by the rampage his brother had been on? Either way, there was only one way to find out! If Marchbaby didn't fancy the opponent before him, he could leave it be a investigate the shaking tree instead!
 ...OR would Marchbaby investigate the tree by using HEADBUTT?

Taking notice of both the poor female Nidoran and the violently shaking tree Marchbaby had a difficult choice to make as he was sure Nidoran would run off the moment he went after the tree but as Cannon Fodder would not have a very easy time against a poison type even with a huge level difference he was hesitant to fight her. He did not want her to think all humans were heartless. The violently shaking tree was a bit more disturbing however as the last time a tree had made so much racket was when Bonecrusher helped clear out the orchid at the Burke and Bentley residence where he captured Honeysuckle. With how things were going he had no idea whether or not it was a trap but it was very tempting to try and headbutt the tree and see what would happen.
Honeysuckle was ready for a fight just hoping it would be another encounter Cannon Fodder would not be able to handle. She had still not been given a turn to battle and the beetle was itching to show Marchbaby just how strong she was when she could actually hit her targets. Shocker was ready for a fight as well as it had been a while since it had been in a good fight. Bonecrusher had just been waiting to bash his head into something so he could practice his Headbutt and Iron Head attacks as he popped out of his ball while Atropos continued to be silent still not even wanting to say a word. Blubber popped out of her Pokeball to pounce on Marchbaby leaving him covered in slime wanting to cuddle with him as much as she could. " Blubber you are such a sweet dragon you do know that right? I know I still need to train you more as you have a ton of potential and I promise to do so as soon as this mess gets sorted out."
While he was distracted with Blubber Vonecrusher decided to use his head and show the shaking tree who was boss. Kicking his hind legs in a patch of dirt he rammed a tree with all his might with Headbutt. The resulting collision created a ton of noise and Marchbaby took notice of what just happened. " Oh no I have a feeling things are about to get really hairy. I was thinking of having you headbutt this tree I won't lie but I really hope something with a bloodlust does not fall out of this tree as my brother and Mania are enough trouble for one day. Let's hope whatever it is tries to be friendly with us as we do not need three things going after our heads." He said waiting to see if something would fall out of the tree.

After the sturdy, might tree was headbutted, the Nidoran F took this opportunity to runaway from such a violent head-bashing Aron! The tree stood still, its trunk and bark completely unaffected by the rampaging Aron. However, after the Aron headbutted the tree, some outraged Butterfree flew away, and some cocoon Pokemon used String Shot to swing themselves to some other trees. After the commotion was over, everything seemed to be quiet down. A single, pink and glossy Apricorn felt down, rolling passed the Aron and stopped right next to the Pineco, Cannon Fodder. The Pineco hopped forward, feeling uncomfortable about the tree, looked up and saw a Starly, who was not startled from the headbutt earlier. Well, and some other Cocoon Pokemon too, but this particular Starly moved its tiny beady eyes between the Pineco, and the human and his Pokemon. It was either up to something, or it was watching the group. Then, it chirped in laughter, but with its talons still hanging onto the branch without budging the legs.

Marchbaby was unsure what had fallen out of the tree but he did not have to think for long as he picked it up before discovering it was a Pink Apricorn. They were an uncommon item in Johto and a very lucky find indeed. As if that were not exciting enough however a wild Starly was watching him from the tree Bonecrusher had rammed. They were not a very common sight in Johto usually hiding away in thick trees unreachable except by having a Pokemon ram the trees there were known to inhabit and hope one was lying in wait. This one seemed to be a younger one but if anything that was good news as it meant Blubber would get a chance to battle. The young dragon had not been in many fights so this seemed like a good foe for her.
" It looks like this Starly might want to have a battle with us. SOmehow my brother burning down half the trees on this route have not scared it off which is good as we can always use a sparring partner. I would love to use Cannon Fodder but I actually want to try and capture this poor thing so instead I think it is your turn to shine Blubber. After all I can never become a dragon master if I do not raise the dragon type I have now can I." The young dragon tamer did have a point as even if she was not a very powerful dragon she could still evolve into one of the strongest defensive dragon types known. It was an honor enough that he already had a dragon this early in his adventure and he was just getting started.
" I do not know too much about Starly outside of them being part flying type and like Pidgey they are not very strong at first but as they evolve they can become pretty strong for such a small Pokemon. Just like someday I hope to evolve you into a Goodra Blubber so you can become stronger. I know you do not have any powerful attacks at your disposal yet and you lack any dragon type moves but we will make this work out in our favor even with those setbacks. For the opening round I would like you to try a Bubble attack and see where we are after that. He said as Blubber complied glad to finally have a chance to prove herself.

Although the Goomy was a bit younger and inexperienced compared to the rest of the team, the young Pokemon was at least better than the Starly. The Starly chirped, acknowledged that the Goomy would be its opponent. Then, opening its wings wide, the Starly flew up high and straight down, launching a speedy attack toward the blob Pokemon. Fortunately though, Blubber didn't take a lot of damage from the Quick Attack, and shook it off the attack like it was nothing. Then, the squishy looking dragon opened her mouth wide, and formed a few giant bubbles. The Starly was confused for a moment, and then tried to flap them away. However, the flapping mixed with the bubbles caused the bubbles to float up faster, and then one finally contacted the bird and popped, drenching the bird's feathery body. Starly figured it should have thought about next time flapping at those bubbles.

Marchbaby was happy to see that Starly did not get knocked out in a single hit as he wanted Goomy to have to fight something that could fight back a bit so she could become stronger. The bird was far from a mighty foe but at least it had managed to land and attack on her. Even with her defenses against physical moves being on the low side the Quick Attack did not do very much to her while her Bubble caused a considerable amount to the young bird Pokemon. Bubble was not even a move Blubber specialized in and yet she was able to easily outperform the bird in the first round. He could not help but feel bad for the young bird as it was clearly still very young and was not prepared to fight a dragon of any kind.
He did not even consider having Blubber launch another attack as Starly was shaken up pretty good by the Bubble. He had never encountered a wild Starly before and he did not want to knock it out as he could always find a use for flying types. If nothing else they could serve as inspiration for dragon types that evolving into Pokemon that could fly. He did not have a dragon that would ever fly but he hoped to one day so getting ready ahead of the game was never a bad idea. " Blubber I think this poor thing has had enough already and we do not want to knock it out. Here in Johto Starly are not as common as they are in other regions and I want to catch this one. I wonder how it got so far away from it's home region as Starly are not native here. Then again neither are Goomy but with how well you have battled so far I think we should give this Starly a chance as well."
As the young dragon slithered back to Marchbaby he grabbed one of the Great Balls in his backpack. Since most of the Pokemon he wanted to capture lived closer to his hometown which was so far off anyways he decided he might as well start capturing any Pokemon he might one day be able to raise to help him capture those later Pokemon. " Let's hope for some good luck here but stand ready to take a hit Blubber if this does not work. Go Great Ball capture Starly."
Ooc: March uses a Great Ball to try and capture Starly. I have updated the Great Ball myself.
