The Poochyena was looking worse for wear, growing weaker and weaker with every round that passed. The injuries mixed with the yearning for food was almost enough to finish the pooch off but the desperation for even a bite of something kept itself awake. Wobbling about on the spot, the blurred vision of the canine wavered between the Scatterbug and the trainer who stood behind it. Everything was beginning to look like one big blur of colour and it didn't take a nurse or a doctor to see that the dark hound simply couldn't battle any longer. Luckily, Penelope was a girl with some sense and after a few thoughts churning in her head, she came up with an idea. She wasn't going to order another attack but instead, she was going to try and capture the wild Pokemon. It might not have a home in her heart but surely there was someone out there who would be willing to accept the pooch.
Barely able to see what she was doing, all the Poochyena could really make out was the bright red half of the Pokeball in her hands. Was she finally going to give it something to eat? Pulling a look of relief, the dark canine actually took a weary step forward but it had completely misunderstood the situation. With a throw of her hand, the lone Pokeball soared through the air and hit the Poochyena right on the head. Eyes wincing shut, the Poochyena was suddenly dragged inside the Pokeball and the next battle begun. On the outside, the ball shook from side to side, indicating that on the inside, the Poochyena was trying it's hardest to break free. There was only so much the Pokemon could do, however and pretty soon, it was overpowered by the lock of the Pokeball. Clicking once, it appeared that Penelope had captured the Poochyena!
WIGGLE. WIGGLE. WIGGLE. . . . TING!
Congratulations! Penelope has successfully captured the Poochyena!Scatterbug gained 2 levels and grew to Level 7! Scatterbug learnt Stun Spore! OOC: Can I request silver
Since this was the first time she would be capturing a Pokemon, she was anxious how it went. Thankfully though, her first capture was a breath of relief as the Pokeball rocked on the ground for a few seconds before finally it was captured. The sound of DING indicated a successful capture. YAY! Everyone jumped around and cheered! Scatterbug can't really jump but she definitely wobbled happily!
Picking up the Pokeball and then releasing the Poochyena to feed it a little something, Penelope then returned the wild Pokemon and promised it to find the Pokemon a home. After that was done, she put the Scatterbug on her head, and began walking again with Bunnelby and Scatterbug. They're almost on their way to Cherrygrove City.

Whilst Penelope and her group enjoyed the feeling of another victorious battle, it seemed there would be a turbulent intrusion which would throw things into disarray. Having watched from afar, hidden amongst the bushes, a lone trainer had watched Penelope for sometime. The Pokemon she had on her were unusual and it had piqued his curiosity. Most trainers these days were running amok with puny rodents or feathery vermin. So to see what appeared to be a rabbit and an incredibly unusual sort of caterpillar on her, not to mention befriending a Poochyena so easily, it meant the girl must've been of some skill. However what prompted him to make his presence known was her interactions with her Pokemon. She had fed the Poochyena prior and now was happily going about her business with her Pokemon alongside her. Like they were her friends or some equally silly thought. It was the straw that broke the camerupt's back. To him, Pokemon were tools. They weren't to be lavished with praise, love or emotion. The bonds this girl had with her Pokemon was enough to bring him out of hiding. Jumping out of the bushes, he shouted out, hoping to steal her attention. " Don't make me vomit." Voice filled with disgust, the male youth, likely not much older than Penelope herself, stepped forward before staring her down. Bearing a striking appearance, it was hard not to be drawn to his maroon coloured hair as it fluttered in the cold winds and gave contrasted to his silver coloured eyes. Tilting his head cockily to the side, this moody looking teenager didn't appear warm in the slightest, if anything, akin to the miserable weather they were experiencing. His hand casually slipped into one of his pockets and the other left hanging by his side, the youth called out some more and didn't appear to be in the mindset of making friends with Penelope and her team. " I can tell you're new to all this. Just like all the other idiotic trainers who think of Pokemon as their friends. They're not. They're literally tools to be used. Animals that lack any sort of feeling or worth." Shooting her a deathly glare, it appeared the youth was rather angered that she had managed to amass so many Pokemon in such a short space of time not to mention their rarity. " A weakling like you isn't worthy of so many Pokemon. Hmph." Grabbing the Pokeball in his pocket, he tossed it forward, revealing a somewhat nervous looking Chikorita. Timidly wilting its leaf and fidgeting around it was clear his ways may not have been the best for his Pokemon. " I'll show you what being a Pokemon trainer is all about." His eyes boring at Penelope with a deathly glare, it was obvious this abusive youth was not your everyday trainer but something far worse. Cherrygrove was out of the question for now, something had to be done with this youth. Rival Encounter
??? isn't looking to make friends! He sends forth Chikorita (Level 8), who looks rather timid! Please select a Pokemon for battle.

"Don't make me vomit."
Penelope thought she heard something, and she stopped her walk with her Pokemon to look around the area, confused by the situation. She surely knew that her Pokemon can't talk, so who was it?... Then, a red-haired teenage boy with an awful demeanor appeared, and began rattling off about how Pokemon aren't your friends, but more like tools. Tools for what? He also started off right away by putting her down, basically. How rude of him!
"Hi! You got out of bed on the wrong side today? Your hair looks like a mess and you're really grouchy today! My name is Penelope and what's your name?" Penelope greeted, smiling and waving at the stranger, even though she figured that the boy was being mean. However, she would try her best now to solve this in an non-aggressive way.
"Are you... are you... challenging to my first trainer battle!... YAY! I may be a new trainer, but I think you're having too many assumptions for not knowing anything about me! Bunnelby, start with a Tackle!" the young girl began talking, trying her best to slowly reduce the intensity of this boy's aggression. The Bunnelby stepped forward, and began eyeing the Chikorita, planning when he would be ready for a tackle.

vs Rival Silver__________________________________
The complete opposite of this unapproachable punk, Penelope took most of the negativity on the chin and replied back to him in an overly cheerful and almost innocent manner. The young girl was on this journey to have fun and an all around good time, not to have her positive personality dragged down by this stranger. Introducing herself with a wave and a smile, the red headed boy pulled his head back and pulled a disgruntled look as the girl seemed to cheer at his challenge. To him, she came across as rather odd. "Hmph. I don't care about your name." He replied in a rather bitter tone, "And I don't usually give out my name. But since I am going to pulverise you, I suppose it wouldn't hurt this once. After all, then you can remember the name of the first trainer you lost against. If you are even capable of that." Sneering his top lip, the moody red head also introduced himself.
"My name is Silver. I am going to be the best trainer in Johto. Puny, weak trainers like you are stepping stones for me on my way to success." Despite her attempt at trying to calm the situation with a bit of chatter, the boy now known as Silver wasn't having any of it. Clearly uninterested in anything other than the battle, the striking, silver eyed boy looked down to his Pokemon. A grass type starter known as Chikorita, the female Pokemon had become anxious after being summoned by this forceful trainer. Looking around timidly as she awaited her orders, Bunnelby took this as his chance to move in for his own attack. Moving towards his opponent in a zig zag motion, the swift rabbit jumped forward and with a powerful swing of it's ears, tackled head first into the Chikorita. A pain squeak exiting her mouth, Silver looked down to his Pokemon in disgust. "What was that, you pathetic weed?! All you had to do was dodge... How useless!"
Scorning his Pokemon, Silver angrily spat out his disappointment in his Pokemon, to which the Chikorita cowered with a shudder. "Prove your use, whelp. Use Razor Leaf!" Given some guidance, the fearful grass type turned her head to look at Bunnelby. She needed to fight and win this battle if she wanted to avoid any further abuse, atleast for now. With a simple flick of the giant leaf upon her head, several leaves seemed to materialise in thin air, their edges razor sharp. Spiralling forward with incredible velocity, Bunnelby froze at the sight and soon felt the leaves slice across his body.

Penelope made a brief frown face to show her disdain toward this so-called Silver person, and then returned to her cheerful, youthful smile at her opponent. Replying with as much maturity as she could muster, she spoke, "Huh? How rude are you! So you don't care about my name but you want me to know yours? You're so silly. Why don't you smile and just enjoy the battle? It makes your mood better too!" She grinned continually, despite how her opponent was a walking rain cloud of misery.
Then, she watched as the battle unfold, and her Scatterbug watched as well. Something about the way Silver talked to his Pokemon was unsettling and uncomfortable for her, but at the moment she could not figure out why or what the word was besides "rude". She was still young in her thought, but some things she was mature about, such as treating her Pokemon with respect. Shouting positive words back into the grouchy atmosphere put by her opponent, she hollered at Bunnelby, "You can do it, Bunnelby! Don't lose to grouchy loser like Beets! Use Tackle!" Beets, a red colored vegetable. This might be a temporary name she have for him, for now.

vs Rival Silver__________________________________
Silver thinned his eyes menacingly at the reaction from Penelope. He knew he had approached the girl on the premise of defeating her in battle and basically trying to stamp down some feeling of inferiority onto her. But despite her natural reaction of finding him rude, she just as quickly changed her tune in attempt to make it a positive of some kind. "Smile? Enjoy the battle? Just how dumb are you..." Trailing off as he relieved some stress off of his temples with a massage from his own hand, the red head shook his head from side to side. "Smiling wont win me the battle and it wont get me to where I need to be. What I need to do is pound your weak Pokemon into the ground and gather whatever puny amount of experience I can." Grunting to himself, he looked away and muttered a few barely audible words. "You've gotta be kidding me... Damn stupid--"
Not letting the words of Penelope settle in his mind too much, he turned to his own Pokemon, who was still a nervous wreck when it came to battles. Unknown to the Picnicker, the poor grass type had been stolen away from the local lab and randomly thrown into this situation. Perhaps she would've been more eager if she was introduced to Silver before hand but instead, she just had to put up with him. He had her Pokeball and ultimately could control her freedom, the poor Chikorita had no other choice. "Muster some sort of Growl. And make sure its not some pathetic squeak. If you embarrass me here, I'll make you pay." Growling at his Pokemon this time, the Chikorita shuddered and tried to gather the courage to make some form of noise. But that wasn't before Bunnelby had something to say, or rather do, first.
Pouncing forward with his large ears, the Bunnelby once again landed a pound like tackle against his opponent, to which the Chikorita took right on the head. Clenching her eyes, the grass type went right to the very base of her stomach to try and pull up a loud growl, in order to ward off the Bunnelby. The hairs across his body did stand on end and he backed off some but he could still see the grass type shiver, making her appear no where near intimidating. Also noticing this, Silver parted his lips to scold his Chikorita but was instead distracted by the odd nickname Penelope had given him. "Beets?" He repeated in a less than enthused tone. "I said my name is Silver. Dont go giving me stupid nicknames."

"HUH? If you don't care about my name then you don't need to car about my nickname for you when I talk with my Pokemon. I wasn't talking to you, I was talking about you with my Pokemon!" Penelope got a finger out and wagged it, happily respond to Silver's rude behavior. After replying to her opponent, the Bunnelby went forward with an attack, hitting the Chikorita right in its small head, and the grass type returned the favor with a loud growl but not-so intimidating shiver. Bunnelby was a bit confused by this, scratching his chin because his hand can't reach up his head to scratch it.
After that, the really young girl replied to her opponent's response, because there were so much time you can talk to your opponent while a battle was going on. "Aww, come on. Try and smile! You don't have to make a frowning serious face all the time when you're battling! Why aren't you enjoying the battle then?" She paused for a few seconds, because her opponent seemed really up-tight and uneasy about smiling. "How about we hug after this battle? Maybe this will make you feel better about battling?..." She trailed the last word, wondering if that would make any difference. "Bunnelby, great job! Use Tackle again!"

Paying her no attention as he wanted to get this battle over with so his Chokorita would grow a bit stronger Silver focused on the task at hand. Chikorita was already showing signs of it growing weak and if that was not enough to anger Silver the fact that Penelope's Bunnelby was still in rather good spirits did not do much to help improve his mood. He could no waste any more time in trying to lower the rabbit's attack as his CHikorita was not tough enough to take many more hits. Seeing offensive actions as his only option Silver looked at the young grass type with eyes only the bravest of souls could bare to witness without losing one's sense of hope. Before he gave her an order he grew very stern towards her in hopes that fear would drive her to victory. " Listen here you maggot if you lose this battle I will have you chopped to bits and turned into a fancy salad. Win this battle and I might just let you keep all of your limbs am I clear?" He asked as she nodded while shivering so badly that she could hardly stand. Just then Silver finally realized just how badly Penelope was mocking him and he flew into a rage of fury at her comments. Not holding back anymore he gave her an ear full of his distaste for her demeanor. " Are you really this naive? Did I lose my sense of direction and waltz into stupid town by mistake? I do not understand how an idiot like yourself even becomes a trainer. It baffles me that they even gave you a Pokemon yet alone allowed you to become a trainer with how dumb you sound about now. I cannot wait to win this battle so you just might finally shut up." he said as he gave his CHikorita an order. " Stop standing there being worthless and use Tackle. A Chikorita salad is sounding better by the minute." Before she could get started however Bunnebly got underway with his own Tackle attack. As the rabbit collided with Chikorita the grass type began to shiver at an even more extreme pace. Not wishing to become a meal for Silver if she failed however she quickly returned the favor as the young rabbit was sent flying back from a retaliatory collision. Both Pokemon were now running short of breath as they waited for the next round to unfold with both Pokemon hoping it would be the last round. Pokemon Trainer Battle

Penelope listened attentively, as much as she can listening to Silver talking to her, to his Pokemon rudely, and keeping an eye on the battle. This was her first trainer battle, and it was a lot more things to do than watching a battle with wild Pokemon. After watching the Chikorita and Bunnelby collided again, she figured that the battle was getting close to be over, but how close? She wasn't good at estimating battling, and things like how strong or how long a battle would last.
"You're doing great, hang in there Bunnelby!" Penelope cheered her Pokemon once again. Before she called out her next move though, she decided to finally speak up about Silver's behavior. "Why are you so mean and rude to your Pokemon? If you really cut off your Pokemon's body I'm going to call and you'll be in jail! I don't know why you got a Pokemon either! You've got an attitude!" She shook her head at disapproval of Silver. Even though she was technically younger than Silver, she spoke as if her words have weight.
"You have no sense of caring so your loss of direction seems normal to me! Bunnelby, stand back. Come on out, Scatterbug and use Tackle!" She retorted, fighting back against Silver's negativity once more. She couldn't believe this horrible person got to be a trainer! Calling on her Pokemon, the normal type hopped back as the Scatterbug on her head leaped into the fray, getting ready for some grass and bug wrestling.

Silver rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, ever present sneer deepening on his face. The girl was becoming obnoxious and he wasn't necessarily sure he wanted her to continue talking. She was young and naive, and probably believed that Pokemon were 'friends.' "Whatever, kid. You speak like you know these things, but what do you know? You just started and your Pokemon are still getting to know you. You're giving them a choice." Silver clenched his fist and looked over at Chikorita. "If you intimidate and make sure they know you're in charge, there's no question as to whether they want to listen to you. Of course I wouldn't eat my only Pokemon, only a stupid kid would think i'm being serious. But there will be a few swift reminders what happens when a Pokemon I have loses..." The boy growled. Chikorita shuddered. This was probably going to end badly for Chikorita unless a miracle happened. "Changing out your Pokemon? How weak! Fine. We'll take down whatever else you have. Chikorita, Tackle whatever comes out of that Pokeball. And then when you're done, I want you to tackle it again. Offense is the best defense." Silver pointed at the other side of the field, and Chikorita began to run towards Bunnelby's replacement. When Scatterbug appeared, Chikorita barreled into the bug almost immediately. It seemed to do a lot of painful damage and was probalby quite the shock to Scatterbug. A retaliation was in order, so Scatterbug lurched forward for a tackle, but was stopped by Chikorita bullying forward with another tackle. Sent backwards, Scaterbug rolled for a few feet before using that momentum to roll towards Chikorita. When Scatterbug unfurled itself, it slammed into Chikorita. However, when Chikorita glanced fearfully over it's shoulder at Silver, he didn't seem bothered. "No, you did good Chikorita. Look how weak that Scatterbug is right now. One more hit and it's probably down. Perhaps our training is paying off." Silver grunted. "Perhaps you should consider getting some good Pokemon, instead of settling with these. I don't even know they're names because I don't care. They're trash."Silver's Chikorita - Level |8| Health: 5/27 Current Status: If I win, I don't get kicked Successful Tackle! Successful Tackle! "Okay, you can call me kid if you don't want to remember my name, Beets! Neither do I!" Penelope made a frown face, unhappy with how the conversation was going nowhere but negative. Aren't Pokemon battles supposed to be fun and friendly? Though after that part, she wasn't sure if Beets meant that he would beat his Pokemon or something, would he? His hands look too small to be beating, and his frame don't look like he could even give a decent beating.
"Hey, changing Pokemon is legal and I'm allowed to do that! Switching out is not wrong!" She replied, completely annoyed by Silver by now. He was just an atmosphere of negative nastiness. "I like my Pokemon so I don't need to get new one. Scatterbug is going to be strong one day!..." She fought back, and looked at how her Scatterbug was already down to her last health, as it looked like. "Hang in there, Scatterbug, here is a Potion for you! Now, go on and use Tackle!" She grabbed a potion from her bag and used it to heal up her injured bug Pokemon. She was, apparently, still new to Pokemon battling, as she needed a little assistance to heal up her Scatterbug.

Gritting his teeth as Penelope point out that switching out Pokemon was technically allowed Silver grew more anxious to finish this battle. He had just about lost his sanity trying to put up with her and no matter how much he tried to counter her annoying self by being mean she was really starting to get to him. Chikorita on the other hand was still so terrified that she did not dare make any movement or sound fearing that he would take out his anger on her and as she stood silently she knew he was going to go off on her again. Preparing for the worst the young grass type only hoped her master would not make her regret not knocking out Penelope's Scatterbug. " I thought you were doing well but it seems you have actually been worthless. Quick now that that pest has used a Potion use Tackle again to undo some of the effects of that Potion." As she ran as fast as she could towards the Scatterbug the young dinosaur was hoping she would get a miracle and knock out the bug so Silver would not beat her mercilessly for failing him again. Her Tackle attack did do quite a lot of damage however the bug was still standing after the first attack having been healed to full health by the Potion. Silver had no choice but to keep up his assault as he knew Chikorita could not take more damage. " You are lucky you are my only Pokemon right now or else I would cook you up about now for failing to stop such a weak Pokemon. I do not know how that Scatterbug is giving you so much trouble but for your sake this next attack had better knock it out. Use Tackle again." As she ran forward and collided with the young Scatterbug again the bug had clearly grown exhausted even after having a potion used on it but Chikorita could not even hope to celebrate as the bug slammed into her in retaliation. With both Pokemon still in the fight Silver was beyond angry at Chikorita and he let her know it. " You worthless tree hugging pile of crap. When I am done with you sunburn will look like your normal skin color. You are a pathetic creature and I swear one way or another I will force you into becoming stronger. Once this battle is over you had better hope that bug ends you first." He said waiting for Penelope to make another move believing all hope was lost by this point. Pokemon Trainer Battle

Penelope was still uncomfortable with Silver calling his own Pokemon such insulting, negative nicknames. She wished that there was something she could do to make this human know that, there would be more to life than being so fixated on winning Pokemon battles. However, after all her attempt earlier, she lost all hope for trying to change his mind. Perhaps, some people's mind just cannot be changed.
"I am sorry little Chikorita that your trainer is a mean and terrible person!... I am sorry I cannot change Beets's mind! I hope one day he'll see his errors..." She pitied the grass type Pokemon, uttering her consoling thought. With no other option but to finish this battle, she shouted an order to her Scatterbug, in a slightly tearful tone, "Alright, Scatterbug! Let's finish this with another Tackle!" Bunnelby flopped his ears down, feeling the same about the turn of this situation. She might have wished that she never met such a terrible person, but there wasn't much that she could do now, or perhaps, meeting such people was something she'll have to learn as a trainer, because they'll be there no matter where you go. How would she react next time?....

Silver was so angry with his Pokemon at this point that he had thrown out a heap of insults and found himself fuming at the end. He thought he had lost this battle due to his worthless Pokemon and it's lack of strength but as Penelope didn't resort to using a Potion, perhaps it would be okay to try one last time. If only he carried around medicine himself, then he too, could've healed his Chikorita. Not that he was going to relieve his Pokemon of pain after doing so terribly. He was that kind of thoughtless boy. "Hmph, don't kid yourself. The Chikorita is useless and it knows it. As a trainer, I haven't done or said anything wrong. It's this stupid Pokemon that isn't pulling it's weight." Feeling a glare pierce into her back, the grass type winced and let out a very soft sigh. She knew the ending this time and it wasn't going to be pretty.
"Hurry up and use another Tackle! If you can't win this time, then I have lost all hope for you!" Throwing his final chance out there, the Chikorita winced and began charging forward. She could barely stand anymore, the weight of her own body crushing her stumpy legs. But if she could just hit once and for it to all be over, that was all she wanted. Thus, with a rather puny tackle, Scatterbug was pushed back... But stood straight back up. Very weak itself but still well aware. Gritting his teeth, Silver began to mutter, "No... Dammit!" This time, he knew he had lost. The Chikorita feeling her vision blur already, she closed her eyes, not even watching or attempting to dodge as the small bug shuffled forward and finished the grass type off.

"Damn... It! How could I lose to a kid?!" Glaring his silver eyes directly at Penelope, he grunted and slowly lifted a Pokeball, recalling Chikorita back. "You won this time but it was nothing more than a fluke. This stupid Chikorita. I'll raise it my way and one day, we'll defeat you." His grip tightening around the Pokeball before attaching it back onto his belt, the boy turned away but not leaving before chucking some money on the ground. "Stupid rules." Muttering to himself, it seemed that even a lowlife like Silver followed the Pokemon League battling rules to some extent. Not even saying goodbye, the trainer instead turned and left, walking a speedy pace.
Congratulations!Rival Silver has been defeated! Penelope received £300 for winning! (Updated)Bunnelby gained 1 level for participating and grew to Level 9!
