1. Start with a Break in.

It took Renegade longer than expected to end up in New Bark Town. First a ferry from Lilycove to Kanto, once in Kanto she had needed to work out a way to get a magnet train ticket which was hard to receive. The money she had put aside for her journey, gone just because she needed to catch a train to Johto. First a ferry, then a train, what was next? A bus, a bus that took her from Goldenrod train station down to New Bark Town. By the time she had gotten there it was alright late, the sun could be seen setting on the east, the water reflecting against the sun and made a beautiful sunset.

Despite the wonderful sunset that was not why Renegade was here, New Bark Town was the home to Professor Elm and the lab. Now normal trainers would be starting their journey off by going to the laboratory collecting the Pokemon they had wanted for a starter and then be on their way. Renegade was not like those new trainers, she was an ex-criminal from Team Magma and she wanted to show Team Magma that she was a prized member that should have been promoted instead of kicked out.

Now currently it was only evening, she needed to wait until it was night to get into the laboratory. It wasn't as if people never broke into places especially labs so surely it would be over looked, with a sigh she made herself quiet by waiting close by in one of the fields when suddenly a large bird Pokemon appeared in the sky. This Pokemon was not a stranger to her, Regi's Pelipper, "Pep? What on earth are you doing here?" Aleks frowned, Pelipper was known to be the delivery bird for her friend but she didn't expect a delivery.

"Pelipper!Peli!" The Pelipper didn't stay for long but opened his beak to show that there was a letter and 2 pokeballs inside it's mouth. Renegade nodded her head and took the pokeballs and letter without much questioning, "Take care of Regi for me," Pelipper was one of few Pokemon that she was friendly towards, after all Regi owned Pelipper since he was a little boy and Renegade knew how it was to respect family. As she opened up the letter Pelipper was quick to take off and leave, after all he had a long journey back to Hoenn.

"Aleks,
I'm sorry about what ended up going down with Team Magma, even though you aren't on the Team with us, you are still my partner in crime. I can't leave my best friend with nobody so you better work on your gifts so you can get back in contact with me! Keep me updated and have a safe journey!

Renegade smiled at the note, "Jeez Regi way to be a jerk," she muttered to herself and looked at the 2 pokeballs in her hand, "I better work on my gifts? There is something inside of these?" she picked up an empty pokeball and noted the gift pokeball's felt weighted, therefore there must be something inside of them. "Right, out you come!" she called, she was curious on what could be in the pokeballs if they were stolen Pokemon. Inside were two Unova Pokemon that she had never seen before, a purple cat and a grey bird. Surely an interesting choice of Pokemon.

"Aren't you both unique looking Pokemon," Renegade hummed. It was late now, the sun was now resting for the day and the moon was reaching the sky, "Perhaps you can both help me with this request, Cain," she looked to the Purrloin to signal who she was talking to, "Look over there," she nodded to Professor Birch's laboratory, "The owner of the place has some rare pokemon, and I want one for myself. So you're going in with me, Stash you keep look out." 

Cain nodded as Stash took the sky, "Stash! If anything happens, use gust on the open window so we have a clear warning," with that Renegade and Cain ran off to the lab, while running over she made sure to check that all the lights were off and all the pokemon in the fields were asleep, she didn't mind a battle considering it would boost Cain up a level or so. Slipping in through an open window it was quiet and dark. 

"Cain? Can you see anything?" Renegade whispered in a hushed voice, she needed to be as quiet as possible to work this out. "Purrloin purrloin," Cain could see well enough, one of the pro's of his typing Renegade assumed. Being as quick as possible Renegade grabbed the closest pokeball to her. Assuming it was empty it seemed now was the time to see what Pokemon she had snagged.

"Fingers crossed it's something good yeah?" she looked at Cain, only managing to see his eyes in the darkness, she threw the pokeball and out came a Charmander, "Seemed to get the best one from the batch huh?" she grinned over to Purrloin who purred in response. "Look Lizard, you're mine now. I'm Renegade and this is Cain," she pointed to Cain who could be seen more easily with the light of Charmander's tail, "And you're name is now Ridge got it?" she waited for a response from Ridge before putting him back in his ball scrambling to get out of  Elm's territory.

OOC: Pidove and Purrloin are to be removed from letsskiddoodle's account and added to my own under the new information. Paws|Letsskiddoodle gave me the pokemon as a blank slate to help me begin plotting and as a birthday present. They checked in with Marchbaby first.

In the dead of the night, Renegade had managed to successfully sneak her way undetected into the heart of Professor Elm's Pokemon Lab, in order to steal one of the many starter Pokemon that he would give away to new trainers, who were starting out on their journeys. With her gifted Pidove, Stash, acting as lookout and faithful Purrloin, Cain, accompanying the seedy ex-Magma member inside to commit the thieving deed, it wasn't long at all before the female was fleeing the scene, one Pokemon heavier. Effortless, there wasn't a moment of noise or suspicion, leaving the entirety of New Bark unaware of the thieving crime which had just happened right beneath their noses. Instead, Renegade had completed her mission in nothing short of perfection, by a criminal's terms at the very least.

Making sure to find out just what she had collected before running too far out of New Bark Town, the starter she had hooked turned out to be a fiery Charmander. This would be a good head scratcher for Elm when morning came around, as unless she had left some form of evidence of her crime, to the Professor it would simply look as if the Charmander had upped and walked off on it's own. After returning the Pokemon back into the safety of it's PokeBall, Renegade and her other Pokemon moved out of town fully and back into the dark, rolling fields of Route 29. Unlike Hoenn, which was primarily surrounded by water even when in towns, Johto was full of lush trees and meadows, both of which edged the dirt path which would lead her to the next town.

In the trees around her was the sound of hooting, likely from the nocturnal Hoothoot which occupied most of the trees when nightfall came around. But her first Pokemon encounter wasn't going to be a flying type but something more close to home. Perched at the tip of a low branch was a lone bug, it's red shell sticking out despite the darkness around it. Munching away on a leaf as a bit of a midnight snack, it noticed the approaching female but she may not have seen it straight away. Using it's string shot, the bug shot it's sticky thread at her feet, nattering away in it's own little bug language with it's feelers wriggling. It was challenging her to a battle as it was certain it was ready to evolve soon. Perhaps meeting this trainer would be enough to grant it, it's wish!

Fight or Flee?

Renegade had been walking along up until she tripped up, or she thought she had tripped but instead became hostage to a wild Wurmple. Oh she knew this Pokemon well, holding her phone up to it a screenshot of date appeared.

Wurmple
Evolves at Level 7 to Cascoon
Evolves at Level 7 to Silcoon
Using the spikes on its rear end, Wurmple peels the bark off trees and feeds on the sap that oozes out. This Pokemon's feet are tipped with suction pads that allow it to cling to glass without slipping.
Known Moveset:
Tackle, String Shot and Poison Sting

A frustrated growl left Renegade as Cain began to hiss at the Wurmple. "Cain, now's the time to show if you are strong enough to be on my team, if you mess up I will have to stuck in the box for the rest of my journey," She growled. The purple feline nodded and pounced in front of the Wurmple to show he was ready for a battle. Exposing his claws to the Wurmple he was ready for a good old battle, after being stuck in a pokeball for god knows how long he was ready.

Cain didn't need to wait for Renegades command to know what he needed to do. With the knowledge of only 2 moves and knowing Renegade wanted to see his strength only Scratch would do the trick, he raised his back to make himself look more intimidating.

While this went on Stash ran over to Renegade and attempted to undo the string.

Cain understood what was at stake if he did not impress Renegade. He sure as sunshine did not want to be stuck in her pc box for the rest of eternity. Using the motivation provided by his trainer to perform his best he easily outran the small bug Pokemon. Wurmple could not catch up to him even on it's best day and as the bug tried to keep the cat in it's sights Cain used Scratch on the bug. Wurmple whined as red marks appeared over the front of it's body as the cats claws tore into it's flesh. Slow to recover from the attack the bug did have a bit of a nasty shock coming to the cat he would almost certainly not like.

The pain from Scratch had led the bug into a fit of fury. Even with it's low speed it now had a blood lust with Cain's name at the top of it's list. Focusing all of it's energy to get back at the cat for using an attack that stung so much it rammed him using all of it's body mass to cause as much damage as it could. The cat did not think the bug could hit so hard for such a weak looking thing and as he caught his breath one thing had been made certain and that was that this battle was not going to be a cakewalk. The battle was still far from over as Wurmple looked over at Cain with eyes staring at him poised to continue it's streak of revenge on the cat.

Cain and Wurmple still had most of their energy left but Wurmple did manage to pull out a slight lead overall with it's surprising strength. Although Wurmple was not anywhere near the strongest Pokemon in the area it had proved it could be quite a tough foe and Cain was not likely to make the same mistake twice.
