" You wish to know why we have a problem with this little vermin? Fine I guess if you have made it to me you have at least earned the right to hear our tale. This Cyndaquil has tried many times to defeat my Bellsprout which is no problem at all until you consider that every time it tries to battle it's embers become a huge threat to the tower and everyone inside. Despite being warned not to return it has come back time and time again trying to battle and failing every single time no matter how likely it is that the same outcome shall occur and increasing the chance of the tower collapsing every time it tries." As the elder cleared his throat he looked over at the fiery abomination and groaned at the thought of another battle. Before the elder could give anymore of an explanation the battle had already begun with Cyrus using a Quick Attack to gain the upper hand against his Hoothoot and right afterwards Cyndaquil used a powerful Ember on his Bellsprout causing massive damage. " Cyndaquil did you really think a single Ember would be enough to bring down your old rival after all the years we have been training? If you did I guess all those defeats you suffered to us must have messed up your thoughts more than we were aware. Bellsprout use Growth to increase your power. Hoothoot use Peck on that Pidgey to show it you can fight as well as it can." He said as his Pokemon began to make their moves. Hoothoot pecked Cyrus right in the forehead while Bellsprout began to grow taller and thicker than usual gratly increasing it's power. " It seems that your new partner at least knows a thing or two. None of our Pokemon have fainted yet however this is far from over. We must protect our home no matter the consequences. One way or another we will force that Cyndaquil out of here and if that means we must do the same to you as well than so be it. As the elder of the Bellwprout Tower I cannot fail my monks or this tower or I shall be shamed for life." He said as he took a deep breath. Upon calming himself down he spoke once more. " If you walk away now Cyndaquil I will spare you a beating but if not I will have no choice other than to show you no mercy. This is your final warning."Double Battle

Ooc: I did not see a move for Cyndaquil but as it's rival is Bellsprout I am pretty sure it would attack it anyway. If another mod wants me to change it to no attack however I can do so.

There it was. Finally, the reasoning behind the monk's harsh resistance to this fire pokémon was just as he originally suspected. It was all about this pagoda. But that didn't seem quite right. There was still something nagging at the back of his mind regarding the odd looking sprout dancing around before him. Especially the way it didn't take that ember to well, yet apparently has wiped the floor with this cyndaquil before. How?
Regardless of that answer it appeared Damien needed to end this as quickly as possible, for both the tower and the Cyndaquil. Still, though, he did not want to directly interfere with the sparring between the two rivals; so he would just have to take care of the bird balancing itself on a single leg at a time swiftly.
"I see," he began calmly, though his right hand clenched up into a fist upon remembering the lashings being dealt out when he walked in to the Sprout Tower. "But I think you know Cyndaquil has come too far to just leave now. I fought for it to get up here safely, with no damage to your tower. And I don't believe Cyndaquil has any particular interest in destroying this place either." The ranger added a hopeful though to himself after speaking, taking a glance down to the fiery mouse engrossed in the fight against its rival.
"Cyrus! We need to finish this quickly. Tackle that hoothoot."

Damien was right. In all the time he had spent with the wild Cyndaquil, it had never once gone out of it's way to attack or attempt to burn the tower itself. It's main focus was climbing the sets of stairs which led it to it's true destination and 'rival'; the Sacred Bellsprout. Repeating what the earlier Sage had mentioned, Elder Li summed up the story but it sounded like a well rehearsed track which was set on repeat. The previous Sage, Neal, was much more cool headed but there was no way he would've spilt the beans, as protecting the Elder was his highest priority. With a chance that the elderly man was holding back some information, for now, all Damien could do was press on. His question would probably never be truly answered but the battle was still in it's early stages. By pushing Elder Li into a corner, he could learn the truth once and for all and with Cyndaquil by his side, it wouldn't be long until this whole situation would be over.
But mentioning the Cyndaquil, it became clear that the fiery type was tensing up at the Elder's words. All of a sudden bursting out in a series of fiery squeaks and cries, the Elder furrowed his brow. "As you made it all the way here, I will allow you the chance to battle me. But if you act in such a horrific, violent manner, I will have to remove you instantly." Speaking in a very calm and threatening tone, the Cyndaquil clenched it's fangs and immediately went into an assault on Bellsprout, as Cyrus also made his move. Aiming straight for the Hoothoot, the Pidgey spun through the air, tackling his feathered body into his equally as feathered opponent. Skidding past, the running Cyndaquil flew across the floorboards, heading straight for the writhing golden Bellsprout. A look of shock spreading across the face of the grass type, a fiery blast of intense heat and flame shot out of the Cyndaquil's mouth, scorching the golden weed and causing it to crumple to the ground.
"..." For a moment, a wave of intense silence cloaked the upper floor of the tower, as Elder Li stared past his thick, lowered eyebrows as his fainted Pokemon. "...Many years ago, that very same Cyndaquil was a mere orphan, tossed a side by it's trainer." Surprisingly starting up a story, the Elder calmed his features as if remembering a memory. "To escape the rain, the Cyndaquil took shelter here in Sprout Tower and we welcomed it with open arms. After some time, we found that the Pokemon had settled into the idea of living with us and we accepted it. It took part in many of our daily prayers and Sprout schedule but one day, it challenged the Sacred Bellsprout to a battle." Looking over to his now fainted Pokemon, the Elder sighed, "At the time, the Cyndaquil was still very much young and Bellsprout defeated it with ease. But once it regained it's senses, it became violent. Sending embers across the tower, we had to banish it, in fear of losing our home."
Sounding like more pieces of the puzzle were starting to fit together, it still didn't exactly make sense as to why the Cyndaquil was so determined to get revenge. "But then it returned. Again and again. Everytime it would aim to climb the tower and each time we would defeat it. With Hoothoot using Hypnosis and the Bellsprout draining it's energy whilst it slumbered." It was then that the Cyndaquil perked up, rattling on again in it's own tongue, interrupting Elder Li from his story. Was this the problem? That Cyndaquil, who made a mistake, had tried to enter the tower to apologise but was instead misunderstood and was attacked, two on one and never being given a true second chance? The power of Hypnosis had meant that the Cyndaquil had often gained many bruises without ever having the chance to defend itself, if that was the case, there was a good reason for it to be so angry! "Hmph. Enough, I have said too much. Cyndaquil. We welcomed you into our family but your true plan was to destroy us with your hellish flames. Hoothoot, Hypnosis! Our Sacred Bellsprout may be down and the fiend may have an accomplice but we can still defeat Cyndaquil!" With an irate coo, the Hoothoot turned through all it's wounds and used it's incredible powers and hypnotic eyes to send Cyndaquil into a deep slumber. Trying to fight off the intense feeling of sleep, the Cyndaquil quickly dropped to the floor, leaving the final tide of battle in Damien's court.

With the bellsprout dropped by a spectacular display of embers the Elder's lips were finally loosened, spilling the history between this cyndaquil and the Sprout Tower. It was stemmed from misunderstanding and a hot-headed youth. He could identify with both sides on that story. However, these sagely followers of the Sprout had gone a bit too far. Defending their home from a possible threat was a noble drive but they broke the gentleman's rule of battling. It was an unspoken agreement, of course, but one everyone knew: you don't just send out all of your pokémon to face a single opponent.
It wasn't just that though, no. These men had ganged up unfairly on the fire mouse, put it to sleep so it was defenseless, and then beat it. That was not okay! Damien's face moved from one of empathy to scrunching up a little into anger. His fists clenched together in an attempt to relieve some of the frustration before he spoke a reply, so as to not lash out. He thought what he saw downstairs when he first walked in was horrible but just imagining the scene the Elder detailed was ten times worse.
"No! You won't," Damien called after the Elder Sage declared he would defeat the cyndaquil, instructing the Hoothoot to put it to sleep. There was a pause as Damien saw the hypnosis hit the fire type and knock it out. Cyndaquil did it's best to resist but it wasn't enough. The poor thing probably had nothing but fearful reflections of its past experiences up this tower as its last thoughts before succumbing to the trance. "Cyrus, use Quick Attack! We're not going to let them touch Cyndaquil again."
"Keeping the Sprout Tower safe from Cyndaquil's fire is completely reasonable, but your actions in doing so are villainous," the ranger brought his gaze back up to the Elder as he spoke. "It was young, inexperienced, and lashed out in childish anger. It was a danger then, I understand why you had to keep it away. But..." Damien paused to inhale and settle himself a bit. The air intake made him feel as if he hadn't taken a breath for quite some time, "You never considered meeting it outside the tower? Dealing with this in a diplomatic fashion? Give it a chance to make amends for the past without getting whipped senseless?"
"There was a time you took it in and treated it like family, but then you cast it aside and wouldn't even consider that it was a mistake Cyndaquil felt guilty for."

Elder Li paused for a moment at Damien's question as he tried his best to come up with an answer. Never had the sacred Bellsprout battled outside of the tower however doing so may have been the answer to the problem all along. He was too proud to outright admit he was wrong but he struggled to think of how to respond in a way that would not make it look like he was giving up. As the elder continued to come up with a valid response to Damien he had not been watching the events unfolding in the battle which even if he was it was doubtful it would have made a difference. Cyrus charged towards Hoothoot at full speed and rammed the bird knocking it out cold and leaving Elder Li without any Pokemon. After taking a deep breath he had no choice other than to finally admit defeat. " I will admit we had never thought of that but that very well may have been a fair solution to our problem. You wisdom has really opened my eyes to this whole problem and I wish to thank you for that." As he reached into his pocket he grabbed some money he had been saving as well as a TM for Flash that he had been saving for a worthy trainer which by now Damien had more than proven his worth. As he walked over and placed the items into Damien's hands Cyndaquil woke up from it's nap shocked to see his rival defeated after all these attempts. Elder Li was quick to apologize to the young fire type as he really had been in the wrong after all this time. Even if Cyndaquil had acted up a bit itself. " Cyndaquil I have to apologize to you. Had we though of this young mans advice a long time ago we might have been able to settle this fairly instead of just casting you out. I do hope this young man is able to teach you to control your anger however as it did not help the situation. Nonetheless I admit overall we shared the bigger blame in this whole ordeal and I hope you can forgive me and the monks who have tortured you for all this time. Young man I trust you will make good use of this TM and poke as I believe you are trustworthy of possessing both. You may use the escape rope in the corner to make it to the bottom of the tower quickly whenever you are ready to leave." He then began to walk out of the room to go and heal his fainted Pokemon so he could continue training them. Double Battle

A soft smile curled along Damien's face as he listened to the Elder apologize. The gifts were of course accepted as well, the ranger reaching out for the TM and money. He gave the older man a respectful nod in appreciation for both the offered items and the following words spoken to the newly awoken fire type. He remained silent, watching, as the two finally made up after all these years. Cyrus had hopped up to his trainer, giving a quiet chirp to grab the boy's attention. Looking down to the pidgey staring up expectantly with its beady little eyes the ranger half chuckled before crouching down. He whispered a compliment to Cyrus for his hard work before reaching to the avian's pokéball and returning the young pidgey to its embrace.
As the Elder Sage returned his attention back to Damien the boy stood, eyes turning to the escape rope as the other man pointed it out. A curious look crossed his face for a moment before he gave a bow to the elder. "Thank you Elder," Damien began, "I hope this helps put the Tower at ease." With the Elder Sage taking his leave it was time for the ranger to do the same. But first...
"Well Cyndaquil, what are you going to do now?" Even though the words left his mouth he was fairly certain he could tell what the response would be from the way the fire mouse was watching him. And sure enough the wild pokémon gave a pointed squeak before edging toward the trainer. "Are you sure?" Another question he could easily predict the answer. "Alright!" Damien dug into a pocket of his bag and pulled out a fresh pokéball, aiming its front at Cyndaquil. "I'll call you, Seraph."
The fire type disappeared into the pokéball shortly afterward, joining the other active members of Damien's team on his belt. It seemed everything was taken care of and settled in the Sprout Tower now, so it was time to leave. The young lad scurried over to the escape rope, curiously turning it in his hands with a bubbling excitement. He'd never used one of these before... Hopefully it didn't make his stomach wretch.
