As Pixie reached into her bag, rummaging through her belongings to find the ball best suited for this occasion, her Starly watched the Purrloin nervously. It had begun to walk in a circle around Oliver. Its slinking movements were rather unsettling, indicating a high capacity for stealth and subtlety that would be rather convenient for suddenly chomping on a certain Pokémon’s plump breast. Oliver squawked loudly, rather terrified of the feline at this moment, though probably unaware quite what it had in mind. It was at this moment that Pixie’s attention returned to the battle, a Great Ball now in her grasp. These balls were reputed for being incredibly effective, especially compared to the standard Pokéballs that trainers were usually equipped with. The moment Pixie threw the blue-coloured ball, Purrloin looked rather panicked. It had just started to plan its next meal, and now this? The ball pegged Purrloin square on the forehead, absorbing it completely and settling down on the ground, wiggling furiously. Once…The ball’s movements roughly halved in intensity, yet it continued to jiggle about. Twice…The ball started moving less vigorously with each second now, which seemed a good sign. Thrice…By this stage, the ball had more or less settled down completely. Ding! The button on the Great Ball flashed, signalling the capture. Congratulations! Pixie caught the Purrloin!Oliver’s compensation for his terrifying ordeal is 3 levels! He reached Level 6! Oliver is trying to learn Quick Attack ! Will he delete a move? Pixie bit her lip as she waited for the ball to stop shaking as Oliver seemed to flap his wings in distress still. Hoping this fight was over and done with, and it was. The ball stopped shaking and it laid still in the grass. Pixie cheered and ran over to the ball and picked it up. She and Oliver had done it. They caught an adorable cat Pokemon! That had a lot of sass. "Come on Oliver let's go train some more" with that Oliver sighed with relief and jumped up on Pixies shoulder and they made there way Route 30. This is where she wanted to train now, the city was good warm up for Oliver!

A new friend! The Purrloin might have been a difficult opponent for Oliver, but that only made it so much more satisfying to have finally caught her. With Quinn’s new ball pocketed carefully, Pixie could turn her attention to Route 30, and the joys of finding even more new Pokémon to catch. Perhaps this time, Oliver would be more of a match for his opponent. The pair wandered into the picturesque little Route, Chatot chirping cheerfully as Mid still hadn’t updated the weather so the sun beat down ferociously. It truly was a marvellous day for a walk. Mareep danced around the open grassy fields nearby, while a pair of Bidoof played tag with each other. Or, at least, that’s what it looked like. Who could really tell without a Pokémon translator at their side, though? Regardless, it was no less cute. And who could forget the ever-lovable Mankey, swinging from tree to tree happily! Wait… Mankey? They’re not native to Route 30. Pixie may not have been aware, being a new trainer, but Mankey actually rarely set foot in this area. This was yet another brief swarm, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to find the Pokémon out in this Route. Indeed, Mankey were found elsewhere in Johto, but what an opportunity to find them so early! And fortune seemed to smile on the young lass. Having already caught two such swarming Pokémon and added them to her team, now one Mankey approached cautiously. Seeing Oliver perched on the girl’s shoulder, Mankey deduced that this must be a trainer. Trainers were strong. Strong is good. Mankey decided it would fight the Strong. Mankey would prove it was better. With that, it burst out in front of Pixie and began to flail wildly, making itself look as irate as possible. This wasn’t hard for a Mankey to do, as they tended to look a little angry at the best of times. All that it wanted was some attention. Attention tended to lead to battles, after all. Trainers were such brutal creatures, and that suited Mankey down to the ground. A wild Mankey (Level 10) would like to battle! Please choose a Pokémon or flee!

Pixie was still glowing from her battle with her new Pokemon Quinn. She didn't noticed the Monkey in the tree's she, wasn't the sort to look up. She carried on walking for sometime before the Pokemon jumped down in front of her. A little shriek left her lips as she stumbled backwards.
She looked over at Oliver who seemed to want to get in on the fight. But did she dare? She shook her head and grabbed a Pokeball from her bag and threw it out "Let's see how you dance Quinn! Double scratch!" she wasn't sure how the battle would go. She felt the butterflies grow in her stomach, she knew if the worst comes to worst she had Oliver watching on her shoulder.
ooc: using Le Running boots for double scratch.

Pure rage. Or, at least, acting as though it was. The Mankey couldn't help but let out a little hoot as it did an initial jump backwards and away from the cat as it emerged. It was wary of this initial challenger, giving it a Leer before receiving the Scratch almost right away from the snarky feline. Now, the Mankey had figured it had been reasonable at the time, but the Scratch almost immediately brought it into focus, drawing a more stern gaze upon the Purrloin. What breaks out could mostly be called a claw fight. The Mankey rakes both paws across Purrloin's face, using Fury Swipes upon the cat, then tottering when it gets another faceful of claws back. Despite the clear disadvantage, Quinn still manages to poise herself up on both legs, as though defying this Mankey. Wild Pokemon Battle

Pixie narrowed her eyes at the stupid Mankey, this is not how she wanted to training her Pokemon to go. She got out Quinn's Pokeball "Sorry Quinn, return. the beam of red light shot out from the Pokeball returning Quinn to her Pokeball. Pixie started to wonder what to do next, she looked at Oliver but she couldn't do that to him.
Pixie grabbed a Pokeball for an old friend and threw it. "Serqet, let's start this off with Leech seed!" she called. She knew this was one tough Mankey and she was impressed. But that didn't change anything she needed to win this.

Even as Pixie recalled Quinn to her ball, the Mankey was in full charge. It came down with righteous fury where the Purrloin once was, tripping and rolling several times, nearly bumping into the human in the process. The ball of angry fluff kept rolling before springing back up to its feet as Serqet emerged from her ball with a lazy yawn. Mankey shivered in anticipation at the clearly stronger Pokemon and began to focus in, a light blue aura forming around its body. And then, Mankey dashed as Serqet, bringing down its paw for a Scratch along the plant's face. Needless to say, this more played into the 'plan' that Serqet most definitely had and wasn't just thought up with on the spot. At point blank range, Serqet fires a Leech Seed directly into the Mankey's forehead. The creeping little vines snaked their way through the fur, latching on to start draining Mankey's health straight away. Wild Pokemon Battle

Pixie smiled it felt good to fight with her first Pokemon, though she loved Serqet she knew deep down. That she would be of no use for the first gym but that didn't matter to her. No. What mattered was the bond she shared with this Pokemon. "Ok, hit the Manky with a vine whip!" she was excited to see where this fight was going to go. After all, seeing Quinn in battle did excite her. Though, she was up against a tough match.

Even though Pixie was going to use Quinn, the newly caught Purrloin, the opponent proved to be too tough of a match to use the feline. Maybe another time though, but for now, she was glad to use her first Pokemon again to take down this foe with constantly angry face. The irate Mankey instantly dashed toward the Bulbasaur. If it wasn't actually angry before, now it was. With the Leech Seed vines wrapping around its body, the fighting type found this feeling irritating and annoying. The sooner the battle is over for one of them, the sooner it could get out. Launching forward, the fighting type kicked the Bulbasaur in the leg. Well, that didn't do much damage though. As it was fleeing, the grass type had two vines dangling underneath the giant bulb on her back. Using the close proximity as an opportunity, Serget's vine got a hold of the Mankey, and tossed it on the ground back and forth, making it dizzy to move for some seconds. Then, the ominous Leech Seed sucked some life out of the poor fighting type again. Now it was both tired and angry at the same time! It threw both arms in the air in protest.

Pixie smiled at her old friend Serqet this was going to be an easy win, or did she want to capture it? There was many plans for her Pokemon team, after all she wanted to be a coordinator not some normal Pokemon trainer. She wanted to be different from her family and this is the choice she wanted to make. Though she wasn't sure if Manky was going to fit into her team. She planned to capture the little monkey Pokemon. She grabbed a Pokeball from her bag and tossed it towards the hurt Pokemon. She hadn't really thought about leach seed doing damag every turn she had much to learn about the Pokemon world. This is either going to be a painful lesson in damage over time or a lucky catch. "Serqet, Relax we're going to get this angry Monkey!"[/front] she said with confidence in her voice.

The mechanism soared through the air, bopping the furry ball of monkey on its head and sucking it inside with a flash of light. The pokéball clasped shut tightly and began to wobble back and forth furiously. One... The ball continued to thrash about, but there was a noticeable decline in activity. It appeared to settle for a moment, but in the next there was a crackling noise and the ball burst back open! In another flash of light the mankey's form emerged, fists raised to the sky in triumph as it screamed an angry gurgling trill. The mankey didn't seem very impressed with that uncertain toss.
Sweating from the extended effort the wild pokémon turned its eyes onto the trainer. There was a gleam in its eye. A glimmer of expectation flashing by before it barreled toward Serqet claws at the ready. Huffing and puffing the fighting type began raking poor bulbasaur in a series of swipes. The first caught Serqet in surprise, slashing across her cheek. The second was diverted to the bulb on her back, a stinging strike trailing along the vegetation. And the third and final go once again bit deeper into the bulbasaur's side. After the feisty display the mankey retreated a little ways back and drooped down. It seemed the spirited wild pokémon had just given everything it had left yet it still made to try and bring its paws up back into its fighting stance. Arms were barely at its forehead, legs trembling, eyes blinking in a desperate attempt to stay conscious. This would be it. Would it go down fighting? Or would the trainer make a whole-hearted attempt at adding its vigor to her team?

Pixie winced as the Pokemon broke free, it wasn't even close. This angry Mankey was very, very angry. She grabbed other Pokeball and held it in her hand was there much point at all to trying this, would it just break out again she looked down at her Bulbasaur who was waiting and order any order really. She put her bag on her shoulder and threw the ball.
After a lot of thinking she was going to try it anyway. She could tell the Mankey was weak. But would it do anything really?

It was the last chance to attempt a capture. Mankey trembled on the spot, the seeds stuck in its fur slowly draining the last of its vitality. After some debate Pixie threw the second pokéball and the fighting type disappeared in a wash of light. One... The ball shook vigorously, thrashing side to side as the wild pokémon inside once again tried to resist the capture machine. Two... It continued to roll around, the gyroscopic handling of the ball snapping the device right back upright. Noticeably the movements of the ball were getting weaker. Three..!*CLICK* A few moments later the tension in the air relented as the satisfying click of success chirped. The ball ceased to move and the red glow of the button faded, denoting the finality of the capturing process. Congratulations! Pixie cheered happily as the Monkey pokemon was caught she picked up the ball."you fought well Serqet, It was good to see you in battle again!" she told her first Pokemon. She wondered what was to happen in Violet city her bother had told her it was a flying type gym. She didn't know the Pokemon or moves it used. Her brother some how glossed over that. " come on Serqet, we have to train Oliver and Quinn to be ready to fight" she told Serqet as the moved on towards Violet city where she was going to take on the gym leader. Once she was strong enough anyway...

The joy of success bubbled through the junior trainer. Her positivism brightening the otherwise gloomy day for her and her pokémon as they all continued down the route. Despite the bolster of confidence from successfully defeating the wild pokémon on the route and adding to her team, Pixie knew her partner's weren't quite ready for the challenge of the first gym. No doubt those in the famed Flying Type gym would be more difficult than the pidgeys and taillows scouting around the route untamed, for they would have the strategy of a trainer who could work around their weaknesses. Doubling that with half her own pokémon being vulnerable to the birds themselves Falkner was going to make for quite the hurdle to overcome. But that was no deterrent for the able trainer as she knew there was nothing she couldn't do without a bit of preparation first. She moved through the wilds of the route with the gloomy clouds overhead, dampening the eclectic colors of autumn that crunched under her feet as she went. Calls and buzzes of the route's inhabitants were nature's soundtrack as she searched around for any unfortunate creature to be her next training partner. Combing through some tall grass though she would be met with a sudden surprise. In a flash of a straw hat and large mesh net a young boy sprung up from the green blades to stop her in her tracks. His hand flung out, face turned to her with a finger pressed to his lips and a look of urgency. The young lad's attention spun back around to another section of grass gently wriggling about. The boy, quiet as a mouse, edged forward. Net at the ready, clenched so tightly his knuckles were white, he continued slowly toward the disturbance in the tall grass then suddenly lunged. The net flew down but the catch unsuccessful as could be noted by the trail of parting grass leading off into the trees. "Oh no!" the boy whined, sighing deeply and dropping his head in a shake. In the next moment he recouped and spun right around to point an accusatory finger at Pixie. "You! You were so noisy! I could've had that weedle but you threw me off." The bug catcher's visage changed then, from one of annoyance to a realization. "You have pokémon? Well let's settle this with a battle!" Encounter Bug Catcher Wade wants to battle!
