Silver chuckled at Alex’s response, almost as if he felt Alex was getting a little riled from his comments. “Sure, you’re not at all scared. Keep telling yourself that while we beat your Dustox to a pulp! Gastly, give that thing another Night Shade!” The Gastly gave another moan, which one had to assume was its way of saying “yes, boss”, and slowly floated forwards. Hearing Alex’s attempts to wake up his Dustox, Silver laughed loudly. “Oh, come on now… do you really think it can hear you? That Bug is out for the count, just admit it!” As he said this, Gastly fired another couple of dark laser beams from its eyes, no matter how uncreative it might seem for an attack description. The beams struck Tackzill, but didn’t seem to do much to rouse her. Tackzill continued to snore away, with each second passing just widening Silver’s grin. However, before long the Dustox opened one sleepy eye. As her wings fluttered, Silver’s jaw dropped open. The crowd cheered raucously, one or two even laughing at Alex’s rival. “Tsk, absolutely typical. Lady Luck truly does favour you, doesn’t she?” This earned a few boos from the audience, but Tackzill didn’t care. As she adjusted to the environment once more, she looked back at her trainer almost for confirmation that what she’d heard earlier was correct. She then released waves of some kind of energy, focused and aimed straight at Gastly. The waves struck their target, despite Gastly’s best efforts to dodge, and quickly silenced the Ghost. It hung in the air, looking rather lifeless. Well, bad choice of words for a ghost. It was unable to fight, anyway. “Hmph… alright then…” Silver sighed and recalled his Gastly. “You may have beaten those two… but luck can only get you so far! Now then… how about you try to beat this old friend again?” With that, Silver threw out another Pokéball, which released a familiar-looking face. The Quilava gave a loud battle-cry. Cyndaquil sure had grown since the last time Alex had seen it, but it was definitely the same Pokémon. That was certain. Rival Battle

Taking the chance to believe in his Pokemon would be waking up, Tackzill did finally woke up and finished off that Gastly with her own Confusion attack. Alex was glad how the battle had turned out so far, even though Silver's Pokemon did seemed like a challenge. Perhaps he will have to train his own Pokemon some more, but for now he'll be making some pocket cash while he would be staying in Goldenrod City for a bit.
"Uh, I don't know who Lady Luck is, is she your ex girlfriend? I didn't know you're into... mature women," Alex replied, not sure what this lady luck business was. Then, he watchead as Silver had replaced his Gastly with a Quilava, who was once a Cyndaquil. What was once a small Pokemon had grown stronger, and Alex wasn't sure if he would be able to finish this Quilava off.
"Your Cyndaquil had evolved. We will try our best!" Alex commented, and then thanked his Dustox for the help and swapped out with his Lombre. "Come on out, Lodd, start a Fake Out on the Quilava!" Out from the Pokeball was a lilypad Pokemon.

Hearing Alex’s comment, Silver simply glowered at his rival. “Oh, so you think you’re funny, do you? Yeah sure, I wish I had the ability to seduce Luck like that… you know fully well that Lady Luck isn’t an actual human. Don’t even try to be smart with me.” He turned to his Quilava and barked at it sharply. “Let’s stop him making those smart remarks, Quilava! I’m counting on you!” Quilava nodded, waiting for his opponent to materialise. And, as Lodd came out of his Pokéball, Silver grimaced for half a second. “This thing again? It’s déjà vu; didn’t we face it last time? Time for revenge, Quilava! Get that ugly lilypad duck monster with a Flame Wheel!” Silver may have been quite the expert in insulting humans, but it seemed that his game against Pokémon needed a little work. Lodd, however, was having none of this, and immediately set to work on his first move of the match. He seemingly disappeared in an instant and reappeared in front of Quilava. Of course, this wasn’t teleportation, it was merely incredibly quick movement on Lodd’s part. Quilava looked stunned, and the worst was to come. Lodd slapped his Fire typed adversary across the cheek a couple of times before retreating as quickly as he had arrived. Quilava stood there, flinching in total fear of his opponent. “Quilava, what the heck? Get yourself together and use Flame Wheel!” But Quilava wasn’t listening. He’d seen too much. Too many scary things. “Tsk” was all Silver could muster at this point. The crowd laughed at Quilava’s change in demeanour, which made Silver’s face redden with rage. “Oh, like your Pokémon could do any better!” he commented, evidently displeased. Rival Battle

Alex shook his head, a bit disapproved to the wording that Silver had used. "Yes, it's my Lombre again. You were just talking about her earlier anyways, why would you be alarmed. I can say the same thing about your burny thing, Quilava, but I am more... considerate and i don't call your Pokemon 'thing', you know?" He replied, and then exhaled heavily because that was a mouthful for him to talk about how you shouldn't use the word "thing" to describe Pokemon, at least verbally.
"That was a good fake out, Lodd! Now we just need to take down this Quilava. Use Bubblebeam!" Alex ordered after he had watched the Fake Out was used successfully. Now he would just need to take down this fire type, who did look quite a bit strong. He wasn't sure if his Pokemon would be able to take it down by herself alone, but he would have to keep on monitoring this battle to know for sure.
"How is this for a change, Silver?" Alex asked, implying about his Pokemon knowing a water type move.

The battle had dragged on for far too long in Silver's eyes and with every passing second, his fists tightened by his sides and stomach felt as if it were in knots. No matter which way he looked at it, this battling was against him and two out of his three Pokemon had already fainted. He had earlier mentioned Lady Luck, but was there more to it than sheer bad luck? Silver would never openly admit to the fact that he was losing, nor that there was a chance that Alex was simply the better trainer. Giving his Pokemon love, treating them with care and in return, they battled their hardest for him. It was a bond Silver was unable to see or understand and it would be a long road for him before he understood this missing key, to the way he treated not only his own Pokemon but others around him. For now, the only thing going around his head was anger. Anger over the fact that he was once again in the position of losing.
"Tsk. That Fake Out was just a cheap trick." Silver spat irritably. He had faced Lodd previously yet the moves of the Lombre were something he didn't remember. Because of that, his Pokemon flinched out of worry and not only wasted a turn but made himself look like a fool in front of the leering crowd. Eyebrow twitching at Alex's attempt to insult his Pokemon back, it wasn't enough to get a react out of Silver, considering he called his own Pokemon horrid names, so others doing the same didn't bother him in the slightest. "Quilava, focus this time! I didn't evolve you for nothing!" Grunting angrily, the fire type shuddered before the flames across his body lit ablaze once again, a more serious expression shrouding it's face. It was then that Alex spoke his next order, one which Silver's own Pokemon was weak to. Clicking his tongue, Silver stomped his foot against the concrete ground, "Attack back with Flame Wheel!"
Taking in a deep breath, Lodd attempted to fire a Bubblebeam but the Quilava quickly dodged to one side. Using it's agile feet, the fire type approached the Lombre before leaping up into the air. Spinning hurriedly, the Quilava became encased within a swirl of fire, which soon came crashing down atop the body of Lodd. Hearing the lilypad like Pokemon cry and wince out in pain, Silver momentarily wore a smug smirk but it was wiped off of his face almost immediately. Firing off another Bubblebeam, this time the attack struck head on. Knocking the Quilava back, the fiery creature became drenched with the assault of bubbles hitting him. But, it managed to stay standing.

Alex shook his head once more, finding Silver's wording a bit... destructive in a way. "You can call it a trick, I call it strategy." He then kept quiet as he watched the battle continued. It appeared that the redhead might be down to his last Pokemon, given by his facial expression had changed to angrier and more upset than before.
The trainer watched the battle as he took another sip of his smoothie. He realized that he only have a quarter of his drink left, and the body heat generated from the crowd gathering surrounding the battle along with the underground's "just decent" air condition, his cold drink would be melting soon from the heat. He would needed to save the last couple sip for after he won. He also observed that the Quilava was fast. It was faster than his Lombre, which could be an issue. The fire Pokemon jumped and turned into a ball of fire, and then crashing onto Lombre. Ouch, that could hurt.
"You can do it, Lodd! Go for another Bubblebeam!" He ordered after his Pokemon had attacked too. Since Silver did looked angry, he might as well finish this battle now.

Clenching his hand into a fist, Silver tutted irritably and momentarily glanced away from Alex. It seemed that no matter what the red head did, he was destined to fail but there was still a chance his Quilava could win. If he actually stopped to think and support his Pokemon properly, for once. Shaking off his drenched coat, the fiery Pokemon couldn't help but feel weak from the onslaught of water but it had also landed a number on Lodd. The Lombre may have had a water affinity but that also didn't stop the fire attack scorching parts of her grass like body. Rubbing a burn mark to try and ease the pain, Silver eventually spoke out after a moment of silence. "Hmph. Your strategy is just childs play. Hitting hard and fast, before your opponent is able to react... That is the way I prefer." Whatever way Silver liked to battle, it hadn't done him any favours here. He had been hitting and his Quilava was speedy but it just wasn't enough to take down Alex and his Lombre.
"Use Quick Attack! Finish it off!" Bellowing out his order, his Quilava sprang from it's position, heading straight for Lodd. Stunned by the fire type's speed, the Lombre had no way of dodging as the quick footed Pokemon crashed into her. Wincing, she was able to remain standing, much to the chagrin of Silver. Gritting his teeth, the red head knew what was coming. Shooting forward yet another flurry of bubbles, it struck into Silver's Quilava and with ease, the Pokemon fainted. Cheers echoed around the crowd, pleased that the loud mouthed punk got what he deserved. With a flustered face, almost as red as his hair, Silver withdrew his Quilava and raised a fist. "You haven't heard the last of me! I will train harder.. And crush you next time!" It was words Alex had likely heard before but atleast the red headed boy was now out of his hair. Stomping off, the crowd dispersed, leaving Alex to continue on.

As the battle with Silver came to a close and the many onlookers left the scene, Alex was free to continue on his travels through Goldenrod Tunnel. But the peace didn't last for long. Something else had been watching him the entire time and even someone oblivious could tell that a pair of heavy eyes were watching them. Rolling out of the nearby shadows, a ball moved in the way of Alex's path. Twitching with vengeful eyes that stared up at the trainer, the red and white orb was none other than a Voltorb. If he wanted to, Alex could just walk past it and be on his way but the Voltorb seemed to want to fight.

Alex folded his arms, as he could not shake his head anymore, and just closed his eyes to let Silver talked. Talking to that red haired boy was like no use to him, and he sighed in defeat after holding in his breath in frustration. Alex had considered influencing SIlver a lost cause at the moment, because no matter how much he explained himself, Silver would find a way to re-interpret whatever he said anyways.
Finally the battle was over, and he was glad that his Lombre pulled through. He replied to Silver in a serious tone, stating, "Whatever you say!" It looked like Alex had scored himself another victory with this serious guy. He thanked his Lombre for the help, and then returned the grass type. He also took one more sip of his drink to cool down.
When he was about to exit the tunnel for the day, he encountered a Voltorb. Was that thing a Pokemon? It was moving though. "Come on out, Casilk! Blow this thing away with a Silver Wind!" He tossed out a capture device and hastily ordered.

The Voltorb rolled further into view, eyes remaining firmly on Alex. Well, as firmly as they can be when the Pokémon itself is rolling around. Nonetheless, it was clear that Alex had to get out quickly or fight this Electric type off. The releasing of Casilk, a fairly quiet Beautifly, signalled that the Voltorb would be getting the fight it so desperately wanted. Voltorb stopped in its tracks, acquiring its target and getting ready to make a move. Suddenly, it then sprang into action. For a Pokéball-shaped thing, Voltorb had some impressive speed, rolling halfway across the makeshift battlefield before Casilk could even think about attacking. Once within range, Voltorb sparked with electricity and shot a thin beam of light toward its Bug typed target. Casilk tried to move out of the way, but the Charge Beam was just as quick as its originator and struck him rather easily. Voltorb continued to crackle loudly, almost as if it’d charged too much energy, but the electricity slowly sank back into the red and white ball to further boost its attacking power for later. Floating in the air and reeling from the early damage, Casilk tried to focus his attention on the sphere in front of him. This took a little time, but he eventually managed to start his counterattack. Flapping his wings powerfully, the little insect produced a massive gust of silvery winds. The grey-tinted gale pelted Voltorb, who couldn’t move in between the pockets of Bug-powered energy. It frowned as much as a Pokémon with no mouth could frown, perhaps realising what it had got involved with, and decided to repeat its earlier move as a response. Once more, it fired a Charge Beam at Casilk, and once more it absorbed an excessive amount of electricity to power itself up for a later date. Unfortunately, it didn’t look like it’d be seeing a later date any time soon. Battered, it wouldn’t be long before it fell. Casilk was aiming to make that moment ‘now’, and with that last move he was now glowing a vivid green. It would appear that his Swarm ability had been triggered! With that, the butterfly shot off another Silver Wind. The attack struck Voltorb as it had before, the little Electric type doing its best to resist the power of the move. However, as much as it tried, it was unable to keep going for long. Voltorb fainted quickly, leaving Alex a clear path to go wherever he pleased now. Wild Battle

While a Pokemon trainer battle with Silver was just a little unexpected, he was surprised that he even managed to find a wandering Voltorb here. He was already surprised that it was a Pokemon, and then was puzzled why it would live in such a crowded urban underground tunnel. Surely, this Pokemon have better places to live right? And in addition, this wasn't the place he expected to see such a Pokemon, maybe a Rattata, but not a Voltorb. Then, when it used an electric attack with its flashy and bright light at Casilk, he figured out why. The electric type probably liked feeding off from unplugged electricity or something.
Knowing that his Beautifly was a flying type, he did not expect his Pokemon to survived. Well, and Casilk did survived the electric attack because it was tougher than the Voltorb or something. Seeing the Voltorb fainted, he thanked his Beautifly for his work and then returned back to Pokemon Center until tomorrow for work.
Few days later, when it was time to go home-- er, Pokemon Center-- again, he went to the same Smoothie shop and grabbed a Peanut Butter banana smoothie instead. He had been walking around the tunnel with his Ariados this time, suspecting that the Pokemon could bother him again. Maybe he could have taken another path, but for his temporary job, it won't be a bad thing for his Pokemon to get some activity here and there, right? Those Pokemon food aren't going to pay themselves.
OOC: Ariados use Night Shade on whoever spawning first.

Wandering back through Goldenrod Tunnel, the atmosphere had changed quite a lot since Alex’s last venture. Now, people were being quite cautious for some reason and there was a distinct sense of some danger brewing. If Alex squinted, he’d just be able to make out something purple in the distance. As he progressed, the purple mass would get closer and closer to him. This mass seemed to deter and repel people from quite some distance, even bringing a shriek of horror from one passer-by. Once the plum-coloured wave got close enough, it was quite clear why people were so disturbed by it. This was none other than a horde of Grimer parading through the Tunnel. The Poison types pushed through the underground marketplace, taking various goods from the stalls and threatening the humans with attacks if anyone attempted to stop them. One of the Grimer got particularly close to Alex, its eyes drawn to a greengrocer’s stand nearby. It roared menacingly at the grocer, who whimpered and cowered beneath his stall. Grimer laughed and helped itself to a watermelon, greedily chomping it down. It seemed like the other Grimer were preoccupied with their own antics, as they continued through the tunnel and quickly left Alex’s field of vision. The fruit-thieving Grimer noticed Alex’s Ariados, upon which it seemed to panic. It had been caught in the action. Time to fight off the do-gooder before it, well, did good. Spiden was the first to act on this battle, quickly launching a beam of Night Shade from his eyes. The Grimer flexed its body to the side, but this did nothing to stop the attack smacking it right in the stomach. Like a particularly irate jelly, Grimer wobbled back into place, not really being moved by the attack. The damage, however, was obvious. Grimer’s response was to regurgitate a large ball of mud at Spiden. The ball exploded on contact with the Bug type, pushing him back into Alex’s legs. Despite the force of the explosion, however, the damage seemed rather minimal. Grimer frowned. Was this the end of Grimer’s crime streak? A mischievous Grimer (Level 23) has mistaken Alex for a cop! It "resisted arrest" and attacked! Wild Battle

OOC: two more night shades because running shoes
Wandering through the Goldenrod Tunnel everyday, Alex was noticing that a lack of people in the area lately. Was it because there wasn't a sale or event going on and no one comes around anymore? He wondered to himself after a few days of walking through this tunnel with no action with his Pokemon. Well, at least he walked with his Ariados for a daily walk.
Then, he noticed that the scent of the area was getting stinkier and nastier. He had to cover his nose again and breath with difficulty like he went to that stinky gross swamp in Ilex Forest. Who on earth just smelled like a natural disaster just now? Finally the Culprit showed up, and not before Spiden used her spidey sense to attack the Grimer from the shadow. The Ariados wasn't going to be deterred by some sentient blob of sewage waste. The poison type retaliated with a Mud Bomb, which was ineffective on the bug type.
"....UNNGGGH. SPII. DEN. NIGHT. GGNNH. SHADE. AGAIN. BERUgH. AGAIN." Covering his nose and mouth with his one hand, because the other hand was holding a drink, Alex was trying really hard to give order to his Pokemon again. He needed this poison type Pokemon begone soon before he vomit. EW.

It was all the trainer's fault, of that, Grimer was sure. And before it could turn its ire towards said human, the beam of another Night Shade impacted, splattering a thin coat of purple ooze onto the nearby stand. It simply wasn't fair that now, of all times, a trainer was here to stop the crime spree. However, the blob had a few tricks of its own. Glooping up a ball of its ooze, it slings it at the perceived source of spider-y pain being called down upon it. Stopping in the after motion throw, Grimer waited a moment to see if the impromptu Disable had worked. Its 'attack' had worked, visible as Spiden attempted to spout off another beam of death at Grimer. Satisfied, Grimer scooped up a ball of the semi-rotted earth nearby and slung it at the spider again for another Mud Bomb. It was more accurate this time, pelting the stoic Ariados right in the eyes, temporarily blinding it.

The Grimer did something to his Ariados, and Alex haven't figured out what, besides the fact that Spiden can't use Night Shade again. The Mud Bomb also exploded and splattered on the Ariados, leaving some yucky mud on the poor Pokemon's face, and likely reducing her vision. The bug stomped each of her legs at a time on the ground, expressing her anger at the poison Pokemon. So the Grimer probably did do something to Spiden.
Not wanting to waste anymore time, he non-verbally recalled his bug Pokemon and swapped out with his Ivysaur. If the smell wasn't that bad he would be talking more. The Ivysaur hadn't been in a battle for a while, and was ready to destroy this slimy Pokemon with the power of nature. Alex ordered his grass type to use a "Take Down" and then covered his mouth again.

Grimer was confident that it was about to get away with its thievery! Even as the bug withdrew from battle and was replace, it began to gather up another ball of goop. Surely, this trick would work just as well a second time! It slung the goop at the emerging Saurobix, the stinky substance glopping onto one of the fern leaves of the Ivysaur. That's when a chill went down Grimer's figurative spine. Saurobix was not impressed with the goop and did as Alex commanded. It was almost graceful how well the heavy mon soared through the air before delivering a Take Down upon the Grimer. The sheer force sent Grimer skidding backwards, alerting its fellow criminals. Deciding that they didn't want any of that quite yet, the remaining Grimer gathered up the fallen and retreated down the tunnel, away from the trainer and his mons.
