Mankey didn't hand around for the sweet talk the trainer was putting out. It had already rushed towards the scared Torchic who seemed to be painfully aware of the monkey's movements. Pulling it's arm back it hit with a critical scratch! Poor little bird Pokemon! Vesta stumbled backwards in pain and in fear. Hearing her trainer call something. Vesta tilted it's head back and used it's head whipping speed to send the embers out of her beak. That wasn't the move Marshall had said at all! But it did the trick, Mankey fell to the floor with crisp fur edges. Vesta ran back to Marshall and hide behind his leg. Well she did it! Your Vesta fought well in battle. Vesta gained 5 levels making her level 8 . She also gained one happiness! (I think? Ok she did...) [/div] DO THOU STILL WANT THE MANKY?! Marshall continued to watch the Mankey’s display of power eagerly. Even though it was obviously going to lose this match, it still looked like the most amazing thing Marshall had ever set eyes on. Its luscious, white fur which had been ruffled by battles past, the permanently-angered expression on its face… even the pig nose was the most handsome and endearing feature to this Fighting enthusiast. He jumped with joy as the Leer-boosted Scratch landed on its mark. “Alright, Ves, take that and give him that- WHAT?!” Marshall was interrupted by his own Pokémon, as it launched another powerful Ember attack. Disobedience was not a concept this young trainer had ever come across before. Usually, only traded Pokémon had the temerity to go against their master’s will. Marshall knew about this little snag, but had caught his Torchic with his own two hands (and a helping of Beowulf’s boulders), so this came as a huge shock. Nonetheless, the lad couldn’t help but notice the aura of power emanating from his little Fire type now. Unbeknownst to Marshall, this was the Blaze Ability triggering. All Marshall knew was that this Ember was much more powerful than the last. It scorched Mankey and left it knocked out on the floor, ready to be captured.
Marshall quickly ran over to his prize, beaming while he temporarily forgot his anger over Vesta’s decision-making. He pulled out a Pokéball and immediately bumped the button against Mankey’s chest. The unconscious Pig Monkey was promptly zapped up into the orb, which happily beeped to acknowledge the new capture. Marshall cheered with utter delight, dancing around Route 30 for a good five minutes. For a big lad, he had surprisingly sure feet and quite a lot of energy. Halfway through ‘The Robot’, he noticed Vesta looking at him confusedly. He froze in place, arms bent at 90 degrees while his frustration re-established itself. “Ves. What the heck was that? I asked for a Scratch. That was Ember, wasn’t it?” he asked, sternly but keeping his voice as low as ever. The Torchic looked surprised at first, before realising what had happened. She whimpered and hid her face, still scarred from all of the chasing she had endured from trainers aiming to capture a rare Torchic. “Hey, chill, I’m not gonna hit you or anything. Just… do as I say next time, ‘kay? I’m the trainer. I’m a good strategist.” This was a blatant lie, and Vesta had been right in using Ember, but Marshall wasn’t going to realise this any time soon. The little bird chirped timidly, her mood brightening a little at the kindness her trainer was showing. “Alright then. Let’s go get ourselves ready for that Falkner guy!” Ves nodded in agreement, perhaps not realising that training would mean another battle.
“Congrats on the catch, Marshall!” a familiar voice called out. Daniel, the kid from earlier, slowly emerged from a nearby bush, spooking both Marshall and his Torchic. With a chirp of fright, Vesta hid behind her trainer’s legs, recognising the boy who’d been chasing after her earlier. “Whoa there… I’m not gonna try and catch you now, am I?” Daniel sighed and shook his head disapprovingly. “This Torchic… it’s strong alright, but dear Arceus is it pathetic.” Marshall’s right hand curled into a fist at this comment, ire building slowly but surely.
“Hey, that’s my Torchic you’re insulting…” he muttered angrily. ‘Pathetic’ might have been a good description of Vesta’s current state of mind, at least in Marshall’s eyes, but this was still his Pokémon. His pride and joy. He wasn’t going to stand for this.
“Oh hey, I’m sorry. Look, you won, so take it as a compliment. It won because of you. It clearly wasn’t doing that by itself. It’d probably have run off somewhere!” Daniel was quite surprised at the reaction; it was true, after all, so how could this guy deny it? Meanwhile, Marshall was chewing over the latest offering from his conversation partner. Usually, he would’ve enjoyed the nice words about his battling skills, but the attack on his new companion’s nature left a bad taste in his mouth.
“Shut the hell up before I make you…” he continued, his tone not wavering one bit. He was really quite angry. How dare this kid insult his Torchic? Though, a large part of him still agreed and the more he thought on it, the less he could blame Daniel for the comments. Ves had been acting rather erratically, to say the least, and it was going to be hard to battle with her if she continued being scared of anything she came across. Especially as she even seemed to disobey him when her fear took over. His finger muscles relaxed slightly as he reasoned with himself, the fist slowly disappearing while Daniel formed a response. He was slowly coming to terms with what he had said and why Marshall was so enraged. He quickly came up with his apology, his gaze drifting to the side of Marshall’s head in moderate shame.
“Sorry dude, don’t wanna fight. I just can’t believe it’s the same Torchic that I just saw battling, that’s all.” Daniel recovered as best he could, opting to smile with as friendly a face as he could manage. He felt a little embarrassed by what he had said now, and was realising why Marshall had spoken up in defiance. Still rather cut by what had been said, Marshall did his best to compose himself.
“I guess… you’re kinda right. But she’s awesome and we’re gonna keep training together. She’ll get even better, and she’ll lose those nerves. I swear on my name as the future Number 1 Fighting Trainer in Johto!” Daniel smirked, finding the blind aspiration in his new acquaintance rather endearing.
“Of course she will. Now… Hey! Where are you going?” Marshall had already left Daniel’s side, with Vesta back in her Pokéball, looking for another Pokémon to fight against. Daniel sighed, downhearted by the quick disappearance. He’d have to get used to these quick changes in focus if he was to socialise with the boy, though. Meanwhile, Marshall scanned the route for something to battle. Anything. As he searched, he gripped Vesta’s Pokéball so tightly that it almost caved in under the weight of his hand. The proud, youthful trainer was upset and needed a pincushion to prey upon. No longer was he bothered by Daniel, though. Now his frustrations were aimed at Vesta and her current anxiety issues. He’d need to find a way to stamp those out quickly if he was to train her into a powerful Blaziken. There was no room for fear in the squad of Marshall’s dreams. None at all.
[Still in Route 30. First Pokémon (wild or trained) to oppose him is getting another two Embers from the scaredy-Torchic.
Obviously grabbing the Mankey. :P Will self-update once I get back from dinner, so I shan’t bother listing details. One Pokéball self-deducted for the capture.]

On the prowl. Tail up high, a lone Skitty roamed through the brush. It had seen that tasty looking Torchic just a moment ago, slitted eyes watching as the red beam returned it to the ball. Silly human, stealing out food so suddenly. And so, the Skitty crept along, playing the patient game. Watching. Waiting. Enough waiting. Skitty hopped out in front of the trainer, tail bobbing in challenge! And just as planned, Vesta emerged from the ball. A loud purr of excitement rose through Skitty's throat before it began to Sing a rather pleasant tune at the snack. But Vesta was paranoid! The Torchic immediately let out a burning ember from her beak, singing the pink fur of the wild cat and sending it stumbling back. It takes a moment before the Skitty regains its composure and resumes its song to the worried bird. This time, its notes seem to ring true and Vesta peacefully nods off to sleep...

With an anxiety-ridden Torchic safely stored away in her Pokeball, Marshall wandered across the grass of Route 30, his eyes peeled for anything that looked remotely like a Pokemon. He was now very familiar with the layout of the road ahead of him, but the journey wasn't getting any easier. His legs still weren't used to all of the exercise he was now getting, and he was just about reaching his limit. Fortunately, a rustling in the nearby grass caught his attention, and his millionth wind carried him toward the noise. But, before he could even examine the source of that disturbance, the source itself came to life! A Skitty flew out of the grass and gave its fierce battlecry. An adorable mewling, to be precise.
"Oh man... now we've got a cute little cat? How's that gonna toughen anyone up?" the young man lamented as he pulled his arm back. "But... I guess Ves can't possibly be scared of this one, right?" With that thought in mind, he tossed out Vesta's Pokeball. The little Torchic flew out of her safe haven, still shivering a little from her earlier encounter. On seeing the Skitty, she screeched in shock. ANOTHER battle? Wasn't the young master pleased enough already? She gathered her mind as best she could and chirped weakly in reply to the Skitty's challenging posture.
The first move was a calming song from the Skitty, which was rather beautiful. Marshall couldn't help but find his thoughts drifting slowly. Perhaps now would be a good time for that rest that he so desperately needed? But Vesta wasn't all that tired, and her trainer's obvious fatigue worried her. Everything worried her, of course, but this was particularly scary. She hopped over and pecked down on his ankle. "OW! WHAT THE-" Marshall cried, before seeing his little Fire type by his side. "Oh, that's right... battle... Ember!" Marshall cried out, now determined to win quickly and get a rest in. Vesta did just as commanded and fired a slew of little sparks at her foe. The Skitty reeled in pain, which mildly encouraged Vesta. Mildly. This thing was doing nothing but Singing, after all!
Speaking of which, the little cat sang once more. And this time, it seemed to have an effect. She fell to the floor, sleeping soundly. "OH FOR GOODNESS'S SAKE... Sleep NOW?" Marshall cried, and he reached for Beowulf's Pokeball. However, he quickly stopped himself. Now was the time for Vesta to learn how to fight. He thusly reached for a Full Heal and quickly sprayed it on his Torchic. "Now get out there and give that thing an Ember!"
[Using Full Heal and commanding an Ember after.]

Skitty was quite content in just keeping Vesta asleep for all eternity but as Marshall used a Full Heal on Vesta the young Skitty thought it would be fun to try an offensive move to take advantage of the free turn. It's stubby little legs barely touched the ground as it ran towards the young Torchic as it unleashed a full bodied Tackle. It did not do a ton of damage as Skitty was not very powerful however it still hurt a bit. Even so Vesta shook off the attack and waited for the next round. Little did she expect that Skitty would be ready to go with another attack almost instantly. The young cat walked over to her right as she fully recovered from the tackle and began to wag its tail in a very cute manner. The goal of this attack was not to cause damage but rather to get Vesta to lower her defenses and it worked like a charm. The young Torchic could not resist the alluring sight as she nearly fell into a trance as she followed the direction of Skitty's tail swings. As attracting as the sight was however she was finally able to snap out of it long enough to make an attack of her own. She fired a small ember at Skitty's tail trying to get the cat to give up on it's attack. Not only did it work but SKitty jumped into the air in great pain before falling back down to the ground unable to stop the pain caused by the attack. No longer was Skitty a tame creature as the ember had awoken its inner warrior. It would not hold anything back in the next round. Battle

Marshall hastily sprayed his Full Heal all over Vesta, still not quite used to using the potions and medicines that he had with him. The little orange ball of feathers snapped awake, stretching her limbs and cooing happily. She'd had quite a nice nap, thank you very much. Even if it had lasted all of two seconds, it was surprisingly refreshing. Upon opening her eyes, however, cruel reality sunk in once again. She was in a battle. Marshall was probably not happy with her snoozing, either. She took in her orders and digested them. She could do this. But not before the Skitty slammed into her with a Tackle. Ow. That was not at all welcomed by Vesta. As she fell onto her back, she wondered exactly how long she would have to deal with this living hell. Was it not enough to try? Did she have to consistently win? Could she consistently win? Ves had no idea. But she had to try, for her trainer.
With her crisis temporarily out of mind, Vesta set her sights on torching this little Skitty. However, Skitty had another trick up its sleeve. It turned around and wagged its tail adorably. What a demonic attack that was. Vesta watched in admiration, her eyes glazing over as she stared at the gorgeous tail movements. That was it. It was time to be make the trainer proud. She was inspired, somehow. She got to her feet and dusted herself off as much as she could with her tiny wings. Still slightly trembling, but filled with new determination, she opened her little yellow beak and coughed up a powerful Ember attack. The flames showered over Skitty quickly, battering the tiny kitten Pokemon and leaving a few bruises here and there. Marshall watched for scorch marks, but there appeared to be none. A burn would probably end this a little quicker for them, which would be good news considering Vesta's nerves. Oh well, that was the name of the game.
"Great job, Vesta!" Marshall called out encouragingly. "Now another of those Embers, go!" Ves chirped in recognition of the order and started to move forward toward a Skitty who seemed to have renewed battle spirit of its own.

The Skitty was ready as Marshall gave Vesta the next order. Vesta charged forward ready to fire out embers from their mouth. However the Skitty has started to charge as well. Using its quick speed to hit into Vesta, hard. Vesta fell back from the hit as the Skitty landed, rolling a little till stopping at Marshall's feet. Vesta didn't move, too weak from the last attack. Vesta had what trainers called fainted, no longer able to battle in this battle. The Skitty nodded it's head as it saw Vesta didn't get back up. It then trued around, and wagged it's tail at Marshall. A little bit of showboating maybe. The Skitty didn't leave just yet, it still had fight left in it. And it had a feeling this trainer wasn't going to give up just yet. Battle

The Skitty's combat tactics so far had been quite devious, but it hadn't done any serious damage to Vesta yet. Marshall was quite confident that he was going to win this battle soon. He ordered his next attack, but it was to no avail. Out of nowhere, Skitty kicked into top gear. It flew toward Vesta, running at a pace that Marshall had never expected from the little thing. Before he could even ask himself what was going on, the feline had collided with his Torchic, eliciting a screech of pain and knocking the fiery bird back a few paces. Marshall turned around to see his partner on the floor, unable to move. "Hey, Ves, get up already! You took that last Tackle like a champ, what's the matter?" But the Torchic was not listening. She wasn't capable of listening.
After a few attempts at rousing her, it was clear to Marshall that his Fire type was out of commission for the moment. "Tsk... so that's all you've got right now, huh? Alright, come back and rest..." He recalled his Torchic into its Pokeball and pulled out another. At that moment, he recalled a brief conversation he caught back in Cherrygrove. He remembered hearing someone saying how rare Skitty was and how he'd pay a far sum for one. He didn't know why it was suddenly occurring to him, but it was quite convenient that it had. He threw his next Pokeball out onto the battlefield. "OK then, Hans, you're on. Keep this thing busy for five minutes, would you?" The new Mankey jumped out of his Pokeball, ready to serve. With that, he reached into his bag to retrieve a blue and red ball. He had been saving the Great Balls for something a little bigger than this, but it couldn't be helped. He didn't want to rely on his old guard, and there was no chance for Tyr or Hans to win here. He threw the Great Ball straight at the Skitty, determined not to give it a chance to do any more harm.
[Sending out Hans the Mankey and using one Great Ball, in case that wasn't abundantly clear. :p Self-updating the ball usage. Will also self-update Vesta's Happiness, since Blaze couldn't do that with her Trainee status and all.]

The Skitty was pretty proud of it's self, it got one Pokemon down. It jumped side to side to happiness calling out for Marshall's next Pokemon. Skitty looked at fighting monkey in front of it, easy it thought. Skitty was about to make an attack failing to notice the great ball flying towards it. Before Skitty could use an attack the great balls oh to familiar red light, took Skitty inside the ball. Dropping the ground it shook once, and it was caught. I guess SKitty couldn't fight the great balls power. Hans stood there like a Champ. Hans gained 3 levels making them level 9 and +1 happiness. Marshall squealed with mild delight as his capture was completed. Finally, he could start making some money off of these weak things! Even though Ves had been beaten, he couldn't help but feel that this Skitty was a weakling. But what exactly did that make his Torchic? He mulled this over as he returned to the Pokémon Centre, holding Vesta's Pokéball all of the way there. He handed his six balls to the nurse on duty and waited patiently, his mind buzzing with thoughts. "Hm... so, that's Vesta's limit right now, huh? She's... she's too weak. I need to find a way to train her without getting her into real fights like that. I could use the EXP Share... but no, I have to train the other guys too. Týr and Demeter won't last too long either. What else can I do?" Marshall continued to pain himself with these deliberations while he collected his Pokémon from the nurse. This was perhaps the first time he'd ever had to make a call this difficult in his short Trainer career. Just as Marshall was about to leave, a man called out to him. "Excuse me! Mr. Ritchie, yes? I have a package for you from a Mr... um... Pete. He didn't give his surname, sir. An odd fellow." Marshall cocked his head in confusion. "Pete? I don't know any-" But his memory suddenly kicked into gear. "HERACROSS GUY! he shouted at the top of his voice. The courier looked quite bewildered at this. "Are you OK sir?" he asked, sounding concerned. Marshall quickly ripped the package from the courier's fingers and tore it to shreds. Inside was yet another Pokéball. It was surely another powerful Fighting type Pokémon! Marshall hadn't even won his first Gym Battle and he was already earning so many cool Pokémon to add to his squad! He ran outside and threw the ball out into the open streets. A small, cute, toy-like Pokémon appeared in a flash of light. Marshall's heart sank. "What is THIS thing?" he asked audibly, confused. He'd never seen a Pokémon like this before. He picked up the thing's Pokéball. As he did this, he noticed a post-it note glued to the back. "Dear Marshall,
Your father sent this over to give to you. He said he won it at a festival celebrating the discovery of the Alola Region, but he clearly has no use for it. It's a Stufful. It's a new Fighting type from the Alola Region. Take good care of it. Stufful, eh? From the Alola Region? But it still looked so weak and fragile. Could it really fight, or was it just a dud? Marshall would have to test this out later. For now, he recalled the Stufful and went back to the Pokémon Centre to rebuild his team. He knew he needed Beowulf, and Hans and Týr were part of his plans going forward. That left Vesta, Darius and Hercule of his current 6-man line up. All three had reasons to be on his team, for sure. He sighed and muttered to himself. "Sorry guys, but I need to shake things up sometimes." He hesitantly put his Bulbasaur and Torchic on the teleporter and zapped them back into the PC, replacing them with his new Stufful and as-yet-unused Chespin. "Demi, Brünnhilde, welcome to the team." he mumbled forlornly. He wanted so many more than 6 on his team already. Being a trainer was hard. Leaving the Pokémon Centre with mixed emotions, Marshall rushed through Route 30 as quickly as his legs would carry him. Time was of the essence. He felt it was time to take on the first Gym Leader and truly test himself. His Torchic's failure wasn't his fault entirely, and he'd had so much experience. He had to be ready to win now, right? He ran through Route 31, looking for Violet City frantically. Little did he know that he had one final test before he could think of a Gym Battle. [Brünnhilde introduced, and added to the squad along with Demeter in place of Vesta and Hercule. Swapping EXP Share from Týr to Demeter. Will update this soon-ish. Encounter! Marshall was on his way to the next town, but he would soon find that it wouldn't be such an easy path to stardom, to that title of a hero in the Pokemon world. There was perhaps something that was intent on standing in the way no matter what, that same challenge he just so happened to meet on Route 29. "Well Well Well, if it isn't Marshall." From the underbrush a familiar figure emerged, a timid young Cyndaquil at his heels. "With how you spoke the last time we met, I thought I'd be hearing your name everywhere." He sneered, the Cyndaquil behind him trying to make himself small, as if not to be noticed. "So imagine my surprise to find you here, trapping little pink kittens." he teased, taking a Pokeball from his belt. "Why don't you try and show me exactly when I can start expecting Marshall to be a household name. Unless of course you've already realized you're worthless." The Cyndaquil moved to take the field but Silver shoved it back harshly. "Not you!" he barked. "You failed me against this very challenge the last time, you stupid rat. I'm leaving it to someone more reliable!" he snapped, before sending the Pokeball flying, revealing a small purple bat at the ready. --- Kat Says- Ew....It's Silver. Why did you go summoning that demon? Oh well, time to battle! He sends out Zubat (Level 8)! What Pokemon will you send out? MADE BY ★MEULK

[Silence, Kat, edgy is the new cool.]
Just as Marshall thought he could see the skyscrapers of Violet City, a familiar figure stood in his way. The young trainer stopped in his tracks and gulped softly. The one person that had been able to push him to his limits in battle, Silver, was back. The redhead was no more charitable than before, either. Angsty McEdgelord started his usual rant, filled with as much venom, malice and petulance as could have been expected. Hiding his nerves behind a forced smirk, the self-proclaimed 'Hero' responded to each of his newfound rival's vicious remarks with an air of confidence. "Well, Silver, I didn't realise you were such a big fan of mine. Obviously, when I said you should listen out for my name, I thought you were gonna be gone for a while longer." The comment about Marshall's Skitty capture was a little too far, though, and he gritted his teeth as he thought about what he'd just done. He retorted quickly, telling the truth in as blunt a manner as he could. "As for the Skitty, I'm going to sell it. People pay good money for rare Pokémon, and a guy's gotta eat."
Silver's behaviour toward his Cyndaquil was quite strange to Marshall. Hadn't Cyndaquil almost bested Darius before? If it hadn't been for that Potion, he'd have lost. Yet, here Silver was telling Cyndaquil that it wasn't good enough. Marshall wasn't sure whether to respect or despise this trainer, even now. However, Silver clearly had other options now, so perhaps this new one would be an even stronger opponent. It was revealed to be a Zubat, and Marshall smiled genuinely for the first time since this encounter began. Zubat, a Poison/Flying combination. It would've been a terrible matchup for his Fighting types, for sure. At least, on paper. But Marshall had seen this Pokémon many times in the past, with it being a 'good choice' against his chosen type. From the battles he'd seen, it was every bit as weak and flimsy as it looked. He was quite certain that he'd be able to beat this with ease, and he had just the weaponry with which to take it down. His mind drifted to Týr for a moment, but he knew what he had to do.
"When will I become a household name? Some time before you become strong enough to beat me and my team. How about that for an answer?" he replied to Silver's latest attempted insult, pulling a Pokéball from his belt and tossing it out in front of the Zubat. His newest acquisition, the cute Stufful, jumped out into battle. "This is my newest Pokémon. It's got no experience so far, but it'll be more than enough to take out that Zubat of yours. Go get 'em, Brünnhilde!" The Stufful looked up at its new trainer with a slightly confused look on its face, before realising that 'Brünnhilde' was probably its new name. It growled softly and turned around to face Zubat. "Alright, then... let's go for a Tackle!" the Stufful's trainer shouted, getting pumped up for the battle already. Now was the time for him to regain his lost pride, and he had a feeling he would do just that with this battle.

Silver scoffed at the very idea of being Marshall's fan, he just wanted to see him fail so miserably that even the most vile human being would pity him. Though he did have a good point about how much some Pokemon could sell for Silver did not care for Marshall's reasonings seeing his efforts as pointless with all the money making options being available. " I doubt you could buy more than a single meal for capturing that thing. I could earn more beating the local school children and taking their milk money as a reward." Winning this battle could also have a pretty good payout and he was out for revenge after his humiliating defeat last time. He had done a bit of training and thought he would be ready for what Marshall would throw at him. " Show this loser how a real trainer handles things with your Supersonic attack. I want that stuffed bear over there to lose what little sense of direction it has." As he gave the order Zubat tried to attack but the young bear was just a little too fast. Brünnhilde got the jump on the little bat as she performed a full body tackle causing a good chunk of damage however as strong as her attack was the bat was determined to still get off an attack and after recovering its senses it began to send out a series of supersonic waves towards her to try and confuse her before she could strike again. Luckily she was fast enough to jump out of the way causing the attack to miss her by just a few seconds. With its failure to hit its target Silver was not a happy camper as he scolded the bat. " You dumb bat, how did you miss? You just made Cyndaquil look competent which is quite an accomplishment in failure. How dumb are you two?" He said as he started to doubt the usefulness of either of his Pokemon. Before he could even order another attack Brünnhilde ran towards Zubat and performed another full bodied tackle this time knocking it out. Silver was angry beyond words but not shocked given how poor the bats aim was and its frail body. : Cyndaquil your recent training had better pay off. Zubat was absolutely worthless. Let's show this punk that we are strong enough to beat him right here and right now. Failure is not an option here. I refuse to suffer another defeat at the hands of this no good wannabe." With his last Pokemon now out Silver was in a tough position as Marshall had defeated Cyndaquil before and it had not gotten much stronger than the last time they had met but Silver's burning passion to win would push the young teenager to use desperate measures to try and win this battle as lopsided as it appeared. "Hah, beating the local school children? So you'd sink that low for a bit of cash, would you?" Marshall almost laughed out loud at the mere thought of this kid bullying someone much younger than him. "At the end of the day, as long as I get more than I paid for the ball, I'm good. I profited, so I'm happy with the deal." For some reason, Marshall was quite determined to prove himself to this stuck-up nobody. He had a significant amount of respect for Silver, not that he'd ever admit to this himself, and he wanted to earn the little brat's respect in return.
"Brünnhilde, you know what to do so go out there and prove yourself to me!" The little Stufful mewled in response, looking more cute than powerful if Marshall was honest with himself. Was this really a Fighting type? Could it really be any kind of match for the rest of his team? The Cianwood native had to wonder, but now was not the time for doubt. Especially when he heard his opponent's order. "Supersonic, huh? That's the confusion move, isn-" he started, before realising what he was saying. Supersonic? Silver would use such underhanded tactics? What happened to a fair fight? Marshall's respect was beginning to dwindle. Sensing the tension in the air, Brünnhilde did what she did best, and Tackled Silver's bat with all of her might. The force behind the attack left Marshall speechless for a few seconds. That power had just come from such a little, cute creature. So it was strong after all. This was an eye-opener for the boy, who'd judged everything on its looks up until now.
"Oh my god! Brünnhilde, that was amazing! Way to-" Marshall started, but he was swiftly interrupted by the most obnoxious noise he could've imagined. The Zubat's Supersonic had started, but Marshall's Stufful wasn't about to disappoint now. She dodged in emphatic style, leaving her trainer practically purring with delight. He punched the air, unable to contain his excitement any more. "Nice work! Now, give that thing one more Tackle!" Brünnhilde appreciated the praise, giving a soft cry of pleasure before returning to the match at hand and slamming right into Zubat once more. Once the Poison type hit the floor, Marshall cheered excitedly. "Alright! Like I said, Silver, this girl here's more than enough of a match. And that's just my newest Pokémon!" But Silver once again verbally abused his Cyndaquil, which irked Marshall. Cyndaquil had pushed him further than anything else - well, barring that deceptively strong Skitty - and yet it was being treated like this. It was time to show Silver what was what.
"Alright, Brünnhilde, take a break buddy. This isn't your fight." Marshall pulled out a Pokéball and recalled his Stufful, incredibly proud of the work that the little one had put in. "Alright then, Cyndaquil, let's see if you remember this guy!" Marshall ripped Darius's ball from his belt and tossed it out to reveal the angry Spearow. "Darius, it's been a little while, buddy." The Spearow scoffed, turning his head away from his trainer. Even if he had reached the lofty heights of Level 15, he was still quite frustrated to not be seeing battles, and he would let his trainer know this in due course. "Darius... I'm sorry, buddy, but the other guys need training, y'know?" A typical excuse from the kid, thought this Spearow. But for now, he had to at least obey his master. If not, he knew he wasn't going to get another battle in a long time. Marshall had mentioned a Gym Battle recently, so this was Darius's chance to get in on that action. He cawed loudly and waited for his first order. "OK... let's have a Peck to warm you up, then!" Now wasn't the time to take a gamble on a new move, especially with Marshall's long-term plan in mind.

Battle! "Tch. Take an example for what it is, Marshall." Silver scoffed. Of course he didn't go around beating little school children for their lunch money, that would be absurd. He needed more of a challenge than that, after all. Darius looked raring to go, and he noticed his Cyndaquil was cowering on the field in front of him. "What? A fire type doesn't get cold feet. Stop stalling!" he hissed, his Cyndaquil looking down then back up at Darius. But the bird moved faster, charging with wings outspread, and the Cyndaquil winced as he felt a hard beak connect with his forehead, and he recoiled in pain. "Still playing with baby moves? Even I can see that stupid thing has more fight in it than that." Darius looked truly, like he was made for battle. But that was probably the most of a backhanded compliment that anyone was going to get from Silver. He noticed his Cyndaquil still rubbing his head where he had been hit, and he rolled his eyes. "Get with the Program, use Ember!" the Cyndaquil finally shook himself off and the core in his belly sprung to life as the flames formed at his maw, and he released several small but searing embers, one which hit Darius in the wing, effectively burning him. "Come on Marshall. Are you telling me that's the best you have?"--- Silver's Cyndaquil |Level 12 ♂| HP: 22/35Status: Normal Cyndaquil used Ember! P-Please don't be so rough... VS.
Marshall's Darius |Level 15 ♂| HP: 28/41Status: Burned!Darius used Peck!
Darius was hurt by his burn! Rough is the only word in my vocabulary. (My Posting Format isn't working with me so rip my usual orderly ways) MADE BY ★MEULK
