- "Captain, can you really not- Look, it's just a- Captain!" -
- Mia giggled, rolling her eyes as her newly acquired Bulbasaur walked tightly against the right side of her body, making the girl shake her head. He looked up at her, as if saying 'I want to do this, human. Chill.' He was being very difficult to the new Trainer right now. She had let him out of the Pokeball just to get a better look at him, and he had plainly refused to go back inside. He stuck close to her right side, often half tripping her as she walked, unable to (or rather unrelenting to) put him in back in his Pokeball. -
- "Captain, listen to me. Nothing out here is going to get me- is going to get us!" -
- Mia tried to soothe the obviously on edge Bulbasaur. It wasn't working. He simply grunted by her feet and continued on walking, red eyes flicking from side to side. Mia simply sighed, giving up on the battle for now, and instead walked an inch to the left, giving herself some breathing room as she headed into Route One. This had been a whole year in the making. Sure, she missed her parents and her younger sister, but honestly, Mia wouldn't give this up for the world. -

Spearow was angry, the rest of their flock had just dared them to do something they didn't want to do, fight a Pokemon trainer. Of course them not being the type to say no to a challenge they agreed. If they won then Spearow would become top dog in the flock. If Spearow lost they would most likely be captured. The risk was worth the reward, being top dog was Spearows dream, they could control any part of their flock. Spearow would be feared like they wished. Spearow promised to fight the first trainer to walk by no matter how easy or how hard. There was no way some one would call them a Torchic if it wasn't up to them. Secretly the Spearow hoped it would be some low level trainer. After a while foot steps could be heard in the distance, the flock giggling hoping it would be some guy with a charizard or something. Puffing out their chest Spearow watched from a high up branch as the trainer and her Pokemon walked by. A wave of relief followed due to the trainers Bulbasaur. With the target in place they swooped down to face the pair, anger present on his face. ' Spearow! Spearow!' It bellowed as it readied itself to attack the pair. - "C'mon now, we're going to get going, and-" -
- Before Mia could finish her sentence, a utterly strange bellow came out of nowhere. There were Spearow here!? She turned to look to her right, gasping when she saw the Spearow charging at her and her new Pokemon, and she immediately felt the panic of a Wild Pokemon charging at her flash through her as quickly as the adrenaline of her first Pokemon fight did. Captain turned to face the noise, digging his feet into the ground as he waited on Mia's command. Unfortunately, Mia wasn't prepared for this sort of attack. What was she going to do?! She had heard of Spearow's being territorial and aggressive, but Mia had honestly never thought of being attacked by one before! She side-stepped the first dive from the Spearow, and turned to her Bulbasur. -
- "Captain, I need you to growl at it okay?" -
- Mia asked of her Pokemon, a fierce look in her eyes before ducking out of the way as the Spearow seemed to zoom right back over her head. Mia turned to half hide behind an overgrown brush, while Captain turned to watch the Spearow's retreat. The wild flying type Pokemon seemed to cackle as it readied itself for another dive. Captain nodded and ran (read: waddled quickly) back a few feet before digging his feet again into the ground, and released a growl at the flying Spearow. -

Spearow were quite a ferocious species in general, but anyone could tell that this particular bird had some reason to fight here. Pride was a very powerful motivator, and that was on the line here for the Flying type. Even though this trainer’s Pokémon of choice was a Bulbasaur, something that Spearow should have an advantage against, it was still going to give this battle its all. It landed on the ground to rest its wings, which were underdeveloped as per the norm for a Spearow, and gave another sharp cry of “SPEAROW!”. It was not going to give Riley and Captain any chance to back away, that was for certain. It would soon be the leader of the flock, and everyone would respect it. All over the land, Spearow’s clan would be feared under its leadership. All the ladies would want it, and all the men would want to be it. What a dream. What total lunacy. Yet this was Spearow’s belief, and that was why it fought now. The human’s retreat was half of the victory already, and Spearow smirked contentedly. Now all that was left was this Bulbasaur. Captain growled at the bird, rushing to the defence of his trainer on command. The snarling was rather cute, in all brutal honesty, and Spearow didn’t quite know what to make of it. Was this a serious challenge of its authority, or was the opponent mocking it? It assumed the former, and laughed loudly. This wouldn’t take long, Spearow thought. It hadn’t noticed, but it was already lowering its guard and starting to take it easier on Captain. Spearow then flapped its wings once more, nice and rested for the battle ahead, and flew as quickly as it could toward Captain. The temperate winds carried it straight into its target, leaving a rather awkward landing for Spearow. Now within touching distance, it started pecking away at Captain’s flesh, forcing a cry or two of pain from the Grass type. This was already proving a rather hard match for Riley and her companion; the first battle would indeed be interesting. Wild Battle

- Captain glared at the Flying type, knowing that he was weaker to it than he would have ever liked to be. He noticed that his opponent needed to stop, that he had to take a break, and that was when Captain knew he would have to strike. Unfortunately, he didn't have any moves that would help him, and he looked back at his Trainer for her command. Mia on the other hand wasn't sure what she could do. She knew right off the bat that she and Captain would be at a disadvantage, but to what extent? Could the growl have neutralized the Spearow's attack enough for now? There would only be one way to find out. -
- Unfortunately she didn't have the time to command. -
- "Bulb!" -
- Captain cried out as the Spearow began to peck him, his beak scratching and beating against the Bulbasaur's hard skin. Mia gasped, covering her mouth before she stepped out of the bush and into the path, dropping her hands. She had to take control of the situation before she lost Captain's respect; before she lost her first fight, as well as any dignity she might have had. -
- "Captain back up and tackle it as hard as you can!" -
- Mia commanded, steeling her voice to sound more in control and less anxious. The Grass starter nodded at her command. Captain backed up just a few steps to turn, hoping that the new angle of the tackle would land into Spearow's side and away from his nasty pecking beak, before lunging at the Flying-type, hoping the attack would land. -

The Spearow waited for the Bulbasaur to run away but it didn't and the trainer had stepped back out of the bush. Spearow wondered that was going on, until the Bulbasaur began to charge it them catching them off guard. The Spearow's eyes widened as they took the hit but then looked at themselves before laughing again. Captain had done some good damages but hadn't taken over the halfway point. This Spearow was maybe being over cocky. With that said the Spearow began to peck Captain while he was still close by. Captain make more crys before the Spearow stopped looking at it's work. The attack had sent Captain back and made him lay down but Captain was already trying to get up with open staring eyes. The Spearow just laughed again watching the Bulbasaur get up after it's attack. It knew it was going to defeat this pokemon , but would it go to plan or would an item Spearow could never use be used on Captain? Battle

- Oh no. -
- Mia covered her mouth as the Spearow attacked Captain once more, sending him to his knees with a low groan. Oh no. Mia fumbled with her backpack as Captain attempted to stand again, falling weakly to his knees. He glared at the Spearow, feeling sorry for himself that he had foolishly tried to take on a Flying-type. He didn't want his Trainer to forfeit, but he wasn't sure if Mia had a choice. Mia on the other hand had wrestled her large backpack to the ground and grabbed a Potion, running between the Spearow and her Bulbasaur, cracking it open to use it. -
- "C'mon Captain, this'll get you all perked up and ready to kick butt!" -
- Mia said, using the Potion on her Grass-type before stepping back and away from the battle. She returned to her spot by the bush should the Flying type come after her next, and she watched as the Potion took effect almost immediately, rousing Captain from his knees and onto his feet. He gave a cry and looked back at Mia before glaring down the Spearow, taking a threatening step towards it. Of course there would be a silver lining! -
- "Tackle it again, Captain!" -
- Mia half-cheered, spurring her Bulbasaur on as Captain gave a bark of determination and raced at the Spearow, jumping up into the air to hopefully land with all of his body weight onto the Flying type. -

Not a fan of humans and their fancy curatives, no ma'am! The Spearow briefly considered outright attacking the trainer instead of the tasty cabbage, but relented. Pecking at it seemed to work the best, and it was not deterred by the sudden recovery that the human's item brought to Bulbasaur. And so, before the grass-type could even finish recovering, the bird was upon it, Pecking mercilessly. As though adding to the drama of the battle, there was a thundering crack before the sky opened up in a torrential downpour! However, Captain is doing what he does, defending his trainer! Lurching forward, the bird was not expecting such weight behind Captain's Tackle. Pecking angrily at the plant, Spearow angrily spreads its wings out in an act of defiance. Not the type to run away, it may be regretting that decision as it's actually quite worn out from the battle already. Battle

- Mia squeaked when thunder cracked over her head, not expecting the weather to change so soon, and she quickly took some shelter under the quivering leaves of a tree closer to the battle as Captain and the wild Spearow continued to fight. Rain. Mia hated the rain! Mia also hated the thunder, more. She wrapped her arms around herself and stood over her backpack so the water wouldn't hit it, and watched as her strong and protective Bulbasaur continued to take a beating, unsure of how much more from the winded Spearow he could take. -
- "One more tackle should end this, Captain!" -
- Mia yelled over the downpour, cupping her mouth with her hands, before brushing the water off of her face. Captain- unlike his Trainer- enjoyed the rain. He felt it sliding over his body and his face, cleaning and keeping his feet from getting too dirty. But this wasn't the time to worry about the weather. He had himself and his Trainer to protect, and that's exactly what he was going to do. He nodded to acknowledge Mia's command and backed up just to charge headfirst at the wet bird, lowering his head against the onslaught of rain as he aimed a tackle at the centre of the Spearow's chest. -

It almost felt like time was dragging. Raindrops pelting both mons, and the trainer. Captain lurched forward, causing the grass to ever so slightly kick up several droplets of water. Across the way, Spearow spread its wings and began to zoom at the Bulbasaur as well. Feathers deflecting the rain, giving the ground a brief reprieve of the soaking. One. Captain rushed through the grass, force starting to build as he gains momentum into his strike. The rain glides off of his smooth bulb, dancing slightly in the air behind him. Spearow's wings beat again, the bird cutting through the shower, ready to deliver a final Peck. Two. A stray bolt of lightning strikes just a short distance away, the thunder almost deafening as both mons collide. Each heartbeat feels like hours. Even the rain seems to go still as the mons eventually pass by each other. Captain skids to a halt in the grass, matting down the blades to show his stopping trail. Three. Time seems to resume as normal as Spearow goes flopping through the grass, fainting from the force of Captain's Tackle. The Bulbasaur gives a contented sigh before flopping down into the rain covered grass to enjoy himself. Battle

- " Yay we caught it! Good job, Captain!" - - You couldn't contain her if she tried. Mia laughed as she ran over to pick the Pokeball up, clipping it onto her belt as she then wiped her face from the downpour of rain before she went over to Captain, and picked him up with a slight grunt. He was much heavier than she remembered him being! That didn't matter- what did matter was that she now had a growing team, and a team she would be happy to work on as she got ever closer to Cherrygrove City. - - " What do you say we get you all healed up and out of the rain for a little, hm?" - - Mia asked, as Captain nodded. She got his Pokeball out and withdrew him back into it, as she headed back to the lab to get her Pokemon healed up. - - Mia returned a half hour later, with Captain waddling along beside her and her Horsea in her arms. She wanted to get this little guy caught up with the rest of her team, and hopefully she could find easy enough targets to do so. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ooc. While Mia had been in town, the storm had vanished as quickly as it had arrived. And yet, the oppressive clouds still blocked out the sun, locking in the humidity. Pokemon seemed to be resuming their lives now, emerging from the safety of their burrows and nest to forage and hunt for food. To the side, a long Sentret emerged, standing tall on its tail to scout out the surface area. After verifying the safety of the area, it gave out a little squeak to flag out its burrow-mates. Its eyes then settled upon the sight of Mia wandering around. The gaze shifted, spotting out the other Pokemon there, and the wild mon became excited! Possible new friends? They didn't look like anything that it had seen before. And so, Sentret curled up and eagerly rolled its way over to Mia before popping back up in a 'Surprise! I'm here!' sort of way.

- Mia smiled, the downpour from before gone but lingering oppressively overhead, dark clouds blotting out the sun. Lou the Horsea chirped in her arms, and she smiled at him, while Captain toddled around beside her. Her newest team mate, Admiral still remained in his pokeball. There wasn't much that she could do with the bold
Spearow yet, but soon- eventually- she would have her chance. "Are you doing alright, Lou?" She asked the Horsea. It trilled in an excited tone, and she smiled, before her eyes fell on the Wild Sentret. -
- Almost immediately, the blonde knew that she would have her work cut out for her should it want to actually battle her and her pokemon. Captain was the only one strong enough for it; Gods above help her should she think Lou could take on such a Pokemon like this. She gave the Sentret a smirk, and shifted the Horsea in her arms a little bit. "Oh, look at that! We have a friend here, boys-" Mia started, but was cut off as Lou wiggled impatiently from her arms and hopped to the ground, landing with some force on the curve of his tail. -
- "Lou!" Mia gasped, biting the corner of her lip as the Horsea gave the Sentret a look, before spurting some water at it; not in an attack but as a playful gesture. "You scared me, Lou. I didn't know if you were going to attack that lil' thing or not!" Mia scolded with a grin, as her Horsea looked up at her, a mischevious look in his eyes, before he looked back at the Sentret and gave it another spurt of water. -(ooc. Lou seems ready to play, too!)

The wild pokémon cheered its name as it was regarded as a 'friend'. The little brown scout propped itself up on its tail to get a better view of the interesting pokémon nestled in the arms of the trainer. It seemed to pay no attention whatsoever to Captain standing up next to the human girl, beady little eyes staring intently at the horsea. When Lou wrestled free of Mia's arms the Sentret prepped itself for some rough playtime, arms extending out so as to appear bigger and more intimidating. However, what came to meet the furry wild pokémon was a splash of water and a happy chortle from the horsea. Sentret shielded its face and chuckled itself, dropping down from its tail to sit neatly on the ground. The normal type scurried over to a puddle left by the heavy rains and froze; waiting. Another spurt of water shot out from the blue nozzle of the water pokémon and lightly splattered Sentret a second time. The wild pokémon laughed happily, reaching its little paws into the puddle it'd situated itself by and made a splash of its own. It scooped up a few waves of water to sprinkle Lou and Mia both before darting along the route toward the wilder part of Route 29. It's big fluffy tail waved along in a smooth bounding motion behind it until it stopped just short of the bushes. Sentret twisted back round and raised itself on its tail again. Though, this time it waved for Lou to follow. A wild Sentret (LV 6) is beckoning Mia & Co. to follow! Will they go trust this playful pokémon? Or is it time to pick a move and play rough out here? - Lou wasn't intimidated by a Sentret. Granted, he should have been, but he wasn't. The stupidity of young Pokemon, amirite? The Horsea prepared himself for yet another spurt of water, but the light sprinkling of water from the Sentret had prematurely startled him. Mia laughed, smiling happily from ear to ear. She was very grateful that she didn't have another aggressive encounter; this one was much nicer. -
- "C'mon, Lou- let's get going." -
- But the little Horsea wasn't having it. As the Sentret darted off, Lieutenant gave a whinnying cry and decided to follow. Mia - horrified that her weak Horsea would simply follow whatever was beckoning him, gathered her wits about her and followed, slowing slightly as her Bulbasaur yelped in surprise and tried to keep up. Mia ran back to the Bulbasaur, picked him up with some difficulty and followed after the Horsea. She wondered in the brief second that she had, if letting Admiral out to follow overhead would be a smarter decision. -
- "Lou!" -
