The day had been going so well. Well, the past few actually. Pokémon seemed to just be falling into her lap. First Red, the lab having sent an official letter thanking her for her efforts and gifting her a pokédex for the trouble as well as allowing her to keep the charmander; then Cookie, the scrumptious little ghosty that nearly scared her out of her wits; swarming Fletchinder as well as a sickly boy giving her a Scatterbug for some dying wish were next; following that she happened upon a contest giveaway and managed to pull the lucky number for Moody, a rare weather pokémon; and now, sitting in her hand was an ugly duckling she was determined to turn into a beautiful swan: June. She wasn't ugly of course, just had a bit of an attitude. Her baby blue feathers and big glossy eyes begged for adoring attention, but the duck was a bit nippy. The guy she'd bought the ducklett from had failed to mention that part. Oh well. Lenore turned the umbrella in her other hand, the pole resting against her shoulder as the freezing rain pelted the surface above her. Cherrygrove was full of natural beauty, many river streams and ponds dotting the area besides the glistening lake. She wanted to give June a little treat to get on the pokémon's good side, a nice relaxing time with nothing but nature surrounding. Unfortunately with the rain that meant the lake was out. But the forest provided quite a bit of protection so she hoped she could find some nice space that would suffice. Unfortunately the longer she traveled the more she came to regret her decision to do it today. It was winter for goodness sake. She had known to prepare for rain but what hadn't dawned on her was that once it was on the ground it would start turning to ice. It wasn't so bad under the thicker trees, but moving into those areas had deeper snow. While she loved the splendor of forests, even in winter with their branches caked in sparkling crystal, this perhaps wasn't her brightest idea. And it sounded like it was about to get worse. From a distance she heard the terrified cry of a child. At first she thought she'd misheard. Some trick of the breeze amongst the watery pellets lashing against the canopy and dripping down onto her umbrella. But then she heard it again; louder. What the heck was a kid doing out here? She considered ignoring it, perhaps turning back to town and just suffering some more beak bites and pecks until the weather turned for the better. The woman stopped. Thinking. With a sigh she adjusted her course and picked up the pace a little. As she neared she could hear barking and snarls, and soon her eyes were met with the situation. Oh dear, that wasn't good at all. It was a young boy, huddling three little pokémon in fear as a pack of devilish hounds encircled. She wasn't going to get anything for this but she wasn't so heartless. Lenore tossed out three pokéballs in turn: Tide, June, and Moody. The quirky little psyduck looked like she was about to do her usual spray to soak the entire area around her but she paused, befuddled for a second, then looked to the sky. Lenore released a sigh of relief. It would seem the rain at least saved her from truly becoming soaked, strangely enough. "We've got a problem gals and gent. See those nasty canines? We've gotta kick 'em to the curb." Her pokémon all looked over to the trapped boy and confirmed in their own ways. "Tide, you're going to use your special move okay sweetie? The big wave: Surf. I know it's your favorite but please try and not splash the boy okay?" The baby psyduck quacked happily then started excitedly waddling to get closer for some play time. Moody then shifted before her eyes, changing into a glossy raindrop. Lenore smiled back to her jolly friend, "And you two I want you to use Water Gun. Moody, you target the one closest to Tide so she doesn't get into too much trouble. June, you go after the one that looks like the leader in the middle there. Alright? Now go go go!"

Coming across a most heart clenching scene of a poor young boy and his three Pokemon, all huddled together, in blatant fear of the three, dark canines which surrounded them, Lenore found the strength in her heart to help this poor boy. No one should've been trapped out in this horrible weather, let alone be bullied by a pack of Houndour! Rushing to his aid, the young woman threw forward a selection of Pokeballs, the flashes of light drawing in the attention of the wild Houndour. Their snouts snarling as the rain drops trickled down their dark coats, they hunched their backs and bundled together, targeting this new addition. Not happy to be interrupted, the central Houndour, who appeared to be the leader, raised his snout to the air and gave a high pitched howl. Motivating both himself and his team mates into battle, the group flashed their pearly white fangs once again, ready to strike.
But before they could raise another paw, Moody the Castform floating forward. Positioned to the right of the battle, it wasn't able to reach the furthest Houndour, closest to the baby Psyduck and thus, had to compromise by attacking the middle one instead. Releasing a powerful stream of water, which drenched the middle pup from nose to tail, a new level of anger welled up inside of the dark hounds. Eyes glaring, Havoc raised his snout once again, letting loose a second howl from the pit of his very gut, which prepared him to put every ounce of strength he had into his next attack. Abyss followed, the younger male leering his eyes between both Moody and June, attempting to intimidate the two of them. Moody felt himself swaying backwards but June was far from impressed at the glint in the pup's eye and managed to ignore it. Besides, she was far too busy dealing with the lone female of the group!
Despite the falling rain, Helena snarled up her maw and released a scattering burst of embers, straight for the Ducklett. Singing her feathers, the water avian managed to flap the flames out simply enough and with a parting of her beak, sent a second Water Gun straight at Havoc! Only this was enough to knock their leader out... Perhaps they weren't as strong as they looked! Exchanging looks of surprise, the remaining Houndour backed off defensively but weren't quite ready to throw in the towel just yet. Which was good because young Tide still hadn't had her turn! Happy to feel the falling raindrops on her body, the Psyduck did what she did best; drench everything with water! Creating a mighty tidal wave out of the falling rain, the water crashed into the lone, female hound and even poor June! Although, the Ducklett didn't look too bothered by it.
During this time, the young boy had managed to stagger to his feet and tip toe his way closer to Lenore. Appearing by her side, the red eyed boy peered up to her from behind his glasses. It looked like he had been crying for some time. "T-Thank you, miss!" He stuttered up some words, still scared by the random encounter. "I don't know what I did to upset these Houndour but they attack us out of nowhere!... I was just heading home from school in Violet City!" Shedding a bit of light on the situation, the boy glanced toward the remaining Houndour before looking back to Lenore. "My name is Jimmy. T-Thank you for coming to help me... Let's teach these Houndour a lesson so they wont scare other kids, too!"

The ex-dancer watched her pokémon move around and intermingle with the houndour on their new battlefield. Oh bother. It seemed she hadn't quite took into consideration positioning. Thankfully June and Moody were threatening enough for all the pesky hounds to overlook the little baby psyduck, allowing Tide to add more moisture into their lives. The cleansing wave allowed the boy to scurry down from his safe rock to approach his savior, though Lenore was so caught up in observing the glistening black coats pad around in the rain she hadn't noticed him. With a faint shudder of surprise the woman's head broke away from the battle to lock onto the cowering schoolboy dripping profusely from the chilly rain. With a momentary grimace Lenore adjusted the position of her umbrella so that the young lad would have an easier time of getting respite from the weather without needing to be so close as to touch her. "Well I couldn't just leave you here now could I?" Her half lie hidden behind a warm smile. The boy then went on to explain a little more, but the motivation behind the pack of houndour was still unknown. Though she didn't know where this kid got the impression that he and she were a team now, Lenore didn't say anything condescending to the boy. Instead she resumed focus on the battle. It was a good thing too. As he eyes turned back to view the fight she noted the excitable psyduck, dull claws in the air, making a detoured route toward the nearest houndour. "Tide! What are you doing!?" she shrieked. But the babe wasn't listening. She continued to jump in puddles in a zig zaggy route toward the menacing canine with an eventual intent on landing a Scratch. "June! Water Gun that dog!" The woman pointed toward Helena with urgency. The blue duck quacked with annoyance, but looked to be following the direction. That left Moody lone to deal with the remaining houndour. Everyone busy with the other side of the fight the castform just kept up with what he was told to do before. Still unable to reach Helena Moody shifted his Water Gun target to Abyss. ((Adding 365 words to Egg in Incubator))

The Houndours were quite the vicious trio, each just as menacing as the next. Where did these hounds come from, what did they want, and why were they so mean? It appeared like they had some sort of agenda, meaning they weren’t wild Pokemon. Sure, Houndours were quite evil and mean by nature, but this instance seemed to be quite different than any other wild Pokemon encounter.
Castform’s form began to shift, it appeared that Moody was changing in appearance based on the weather. His head was covered by a blue raindrop and he let out a water gun that did quite the number on Abyss, whom retaliated with ember. Helena would follow suit as well, but directing her attack on the duck Pokemon. June fired out a water gun on Helena, which of course did a lot of damage in the rain. By the time that Tide had gotten over to the hound, she was already fainted. She stood, blinking curiously at what just happened.

A wash of relief swept over her, much like the splash of water gunning into the poor black-furred fire pups. This duck could very well be the end of her, but somehow the babe often ended up being the difference between winning and losing so there was a part of her that just couldn't get rid of it. That and Tide had been a thoughtful gift from her parents. Lenore sighed. Maybe she should just pick up one of those breeder books on raising pokémon... But that would be for another time. Two of the three aggressive hounds had begun to back off with the torrent of water being flung this way and that. Added to the rain it wasn't the most supportive environment for the fiery dogs. It made her decisions easy enough. "Good team work guys!" The woman clapped happily. "Now go ahead and give that final one a good bath so he can think about what he's done." She pointed toward Abyss but none of her pokémon needed to know who she was talking about; or was too distracted to care. Tide had waddled back closer to her trainer by this point but had taken to rolling around in one of the larger puddles helped along by the battle. June & Moody prepared their Water Guns. "And there we have it, kid. You're safe now," Lenore turned her eyes down to the schoolboy with preemptive assurance of victory. ((Adding 241 words to Egg in Incubator))

With two of three Houndour out for the count, it was becoming quite apparent who the winner would be. The rain pounded down and the water Pokemon were loving it, Abyss was not very happy. He hissed and growled, aware that he was in a sticky situation at the moment. Moody shot out a water gun on the Houndour, pummeling him into the puddles around the battle scene. The hound borked at his cohorts, making them aware that it was time to leave. They wouldn’t be winning this round. Off they fled into the distance, each going a different path.
It was hard to say what was driving the Houndour to act out in this way, even the youngster could tell that something was fishy in this situation. Perhaps with some further investigation, Lenore could find the problem and execute its provider. But for now, Lenore had to touch base with the young trainer whom she had fought to protect. “Thank you for all of your help! If you want you can take one of my Pokemon! Also, here’s this, it’ll help you connect your Pokemon.” Lenore received a Soothe Bell! Lenore's Pokemon can now gain happiness! Should Lenore follow the Houndour?Moody gained 3 levels! Tide gained 3 levels! Should tide learn Water Gun? June gained 3 levels! Should she learn Water Pulse?

A broad satisfied grin swept over her face as she watched the canines retreat, scattering into the forest. Oh bother. That would make it a little more difficult to follow up, but not impossible. They were quite exquisite beasts with those shining black coats and ferocious attitudes; something she'd like to get a better look at if she could. The woman lightly clapped, a hand still holding the stem of the umbrella so it was rather muted and a little dainty. "Wonderful you three," chimed Lenore, taking a second after speaking to look down at the rolling duck getting muddy in the cold rain. For a moment a frown crossed her face but she quickly hid it, taking a deep breath at the same time. Just then the boy blurted out his thanks. It was short and sweet: just as she'd prefer. But! Her eyes sparkled when he presented her with an offer she couldn't very well refuse! Her eyes swept over the cute baby faces of all three of the pokémon in his arms. Oh it was so hard to choose. "Oh my! What a wonderful young lad you are to offer such a grand reward." Before she could say much more he also pulled out a polished silver bell and gave it a slight jingle. All six of the pokémon surrounding the two humans perked, including the joyously splashing Tide, and waddled to get closer to the pleasant sound. The showgirl glanced between her own team after witnessing an blissful reaction from the three in Schoolboy Jimmy's arms. Bending down a little she curiously accepted the bell, staring at it for a second and considering the young boy's words. Her gaze turning away from the object back to the boy she noticed a longing look in the baby blue. "Why, thank you," she started again, "You certainly know how to treat a lady." She would have used his name if she had bothered to pay attention to when he'd offered it. James was coming to mind but she didn't want to be wrong. In her hesitation on how to word her taking of one of the kid's pokémon the azurill squirmed up from Jimmy's embrace and whined, staring up at Lenore's hand. "Aw, it seems someone's going to miss the bell ey? Well... you're just a cutey." Lenore bent down, raising the arm holding the umbrella so as to not knock the schoolboy in the head as she moved down. "How about I take you with me?" The azurill's eyes went teary. It looked between Jimmy and Lenore, unable to choose. Jimmy gave a smile and assured azurill it would be okay; he did say that she could take one of his pokémon. "Lovely!" She gave the bell another jingle and a wave of cheers chorused around her from the pokémon. "It's settled then. You'll come with me..." she paused to scoop up the little blue ball of a critter, of who frightfully froze in place until realizing that the bell was now nestled beside. "... and you..." she stood, looking clearly at the boy, "... need to get along home. I'm sure your parents are worried."It was a long, happy, tear shedding parting between the new addition of her team and its former trainer and companions but eventually Lenore was left in the rain with nothing but tree and her, now, four water loving pokémon. She took a deep breath and recalled the insecure azurill into its pokéball for now, sending it to her PC Box until she finished her business here. Similarly with the rest of her team after dispersing items around. It was time to chase after those houndour. Not so much for the safety of others should the pack reform and attack someone else, but she was somewhat smitten with their form. Stepping onto the trail of their tracks she reached the point at which they split off. Little paw prints filling with tiny puddles of water. After brief consideration she decided to take the leftmost path and see where that got her. ((Adding 400 words to Egg in Incubator. Still using ORAS movesets so Psyduck learns Water Gun at Lv 8. Lenore had done a great job with the pesky pups, they certainly had learned their lesson. It was now up to the trainer to find the hounds to ensure they do not continue this behavior, but more importantly, why were they doing this? Lenore had questions that needed answers and the path that she took towards the Houndour would certainly give her another piece of the puzzle that she was missing. Helena would need to be rehabilitated in order for the safety of the Cherrygrove residents. The fire Pokemon would be placed with a good home that could teach her right from wrong.
As Lenore and her team began to hunt down the chaotic evil Houndour, a fork in the road striated the path into many different smaller paths. All of the prints looked pretty fresh, so there was no telling which was Houndours by how deep the indent was. The only way Lenore could deduce which way to go was to guess which set of prints belonged to Helena and follow them. This could be quite tricky, so she should choose wisely. Which set of prints are Houndour’s?

The woman practically skipped down the chilling watered path, surrounded by that which had been the inspiration for her nickname. She sighed, slowing to a stop as she reached a more open and mudded section of the forest. "Ick..." she muttered, carefully shuffling off to the side where there had been less traffic tearing up the soil. It wouldn't do any good to have her boots all mucked up. But there was another problem this section of the forest posed: muddled tracks. Whereas before it was relatively easy to note the indents filling with cold rain this was just an absolute mess. A frown setting into her features Lenore stared at the ground and the various trails of prints that led off in every which way. A low groan radiated from her throat, eyes flitting between a few reasonable options. There were quite a few that looked like bird and hoof, which wouldn't fit the striking hounds she was chasing. That just left a couple to choose from... but from where she stood it was hard to tell which would be the best option to follow. With quiet complaint she took one step out, the purple steel toed heel sinking into the mud with a sucking slurp. She powered through though, thanking that it was at least still raining so she could rinse it off afterward. Putting more weight on her forward foot Lenore leaned closer to get a better look at the prints being slowly washed away. One was definitely larger than the other, and with the closer angle it actually spanned much more area than she initially thought thanks to other tracks weaving over top. Which left her with just one good option. Taking great care to slide her foot from the mud instead of making the foolish attempt at puckering the suction that was mud, Lenore proceeded to clean her footwear across the more solid ground off to the side and allow the rain to wash some of it off the sides, then make her way further down the trail in pursuit of the alluring black furs. Lenore’s training and adventuring did her well! The path she chose was quite certainly that of a Houndour, specifically Helena, the only female of the trio. The muddy nature of the ground made it quite hard to identify which prints were which, and where those prints even went. But Lenore’s knowledge and wisdom pulled through! She was trudging through the slop and dirt to the correct spot! But she should be cautious, who knows what secrets lie beyond the clearing in the path up ahead. It would certainly be a trial of her abilities as a trainer and perhaps her scariest mission yet.
The clearing opened up upon her, in the middle of the clearing was Helena and her pups! Who could’ve guessed that she had a litter back home? Suddenly a whip cracked right in front of Lenore’s face, missing her slightly. A man with a menacing look on his face crept out of the vegetation lining the clearing. “You fell into my trap you fool! You must battle me to escape, but if you lose, your Pokemon are mine!” He laughed, his voice hallow of any compassion or moral fiber. From the shadows a Sneasel glided into the battle, ready to do his master's bidding. Hunter Travis sent out Sneasel (level 10) to battle! Defend yourself!

The expertly placed whip cracking a foot from her face made Lenore stumble back with a start, moving her umbrella down as a sort of shield. Heart pounding in her chest her mind immediately set into a state she hadn't delved into since a hoodlum child. The rush of adrenaline flooded out all thoughts of dirty shoes, her eyes narrowing onto her assailant for but a moment before trailing down to the caged pokémon. Were those pups? "The hell do you think you're doing!?" the woman snapped. She didn't have to wait long for an answer. Apparently the man had been lying in wait for her. A poacher of some sort it seemed. To each his own, some people just weren't great at the normal throwing and catching of pokéballs to obtain pokémon. But how dare he crack a whip in her face! Just think what sort of irreparable damage that could have done. She'd be ruined! However, before her fury could be voiced a slick fellow rushed into sight between her and Travis, claws primed and ready for battle. If the shining black coats of the hounds were something, this... this elegant creature was ten times as fabulous. An amazing color palette, a sense of style, and laced with glimmering long claws that looked able to cut anything to ribbons. The sight alone nearly quelled Lenore's rage as he eyes fell onto the sneasel and were unable to look away. "Oh my..." she muttered, a flutter catching her heart. A wry smile slipped across her face as she managed to tear her gaze from the opposing pokémon to smirk at its trainer. "Haha! Well, so long as that deal's both ways."Bringing the umbrella back up to cover her head from the rain the showgirl deftly drew one of her pokéballs and gave it a toss. The device exploded into a trail of light and shaped the rounded form of Moody the Castform. The mask-faced pokémon cooed happily in the light patter of rainful, twirling on the spot as he took in the weather and changed shape to accommodate. "Alright babe, get a good look at your dance partner," Lenore chimed, still beaming. While Moody greeted his opponent Lenore had taken out the handy dandy device that had been thrust upon her whilst being driven out from the water logged lab, pulling up the information on the exquisite creature that was to be her doom. The woman made a cutesy groan as she saw its type. Too bad it was raining. Well she'd have to show off another time. "We'll just keep this simple Moody. Get in there and Tackle Sneasel to the ground!" HP Tracker Red: 24 / 24 Tide: 26 / 26 June: 32 / 43 Moody: 44 / 45

Hunter Travis was amused by Lenore's idea of the rules working both ways but if agreeing to them was the only way to take her Pokemon he would not object. " If you insist fine, the winner of this battle shall take everything but I have no intention of losing." The rain did little to weaken Travis's resolve as stealing both Helena and her pups and this crazy ladie's Pokemon in 1 trip would be quite a haul. The rain if anything was beneficial as it weakened Helena's fire attacks enough that she could not reliably defend herself or her puppies. That proved useful for capturing her as Sneasel took reduced damage from her attacks. Hoping that the weather would again aid him Travis cracked his whip at Sneasel's feet before giving the weasel an order. " Listen up you sorry sack of Ponyta dung our next victim has arrived. I want you to give this young lady a lesson in sticking her nose where it does not belong. If you lose this battle I will skin you alive you hear?" Sneasel knew it's master was quite serious as Sneasel was a rare Pokemon in Johto and no intelligent trainer would bring undue harm to one. Travis was a bit crazy though so Sneasel stood on guard waiting for orders while trying to save itself from a terrible fate. Not more than a moment later Travis gave his order while cracking his whip at Sneasel's feet again to get it's attention. " Sneasel use Scratch on that blob of Arceus knows what and make it quick." Sneasel then began running towards Moody at full speed claws extended ready to strike. As Sneasel scratched Moody across the face the young Castform responded in kind by tackling it before it could make a getaway and Travis was furious. " You worthless swine, you cannot even dodge a tackle attack? That mutt must be weaker than I thought then." He said as he waited for the next round to begin. Battle

Lenore twirled the umbrella in her hands, brimming with excitement at the prospect of this encounter. What a find! Not only was one of the fine coated hounds awaiting a savior but once she'd trounced this guy she'd have this gorgeous Sneasel too. Though, she had a feeling it wouldn't be a simple honoring of words after this was finished. Hunter Travis didn't exactly seem like the trustworthy kind of guy, but the showgirl wasn't just a pretty face either. She giggled to herself quietly as the pokémon began their fight. Despite Sneasel's fearsome posing it seemed the pliable weather pokémon didn't have any problem shrugging off the attack. With Travis' outburst the woman let out a boisterous laugh, hovering a few fingers in front as if she was trying to be polite and muffle the noise. But it was unmistakably a mocking chortle. "Oh please, don't blame that handsome Sneasel for your shortcomings. You have no idea how to handle a pokémon like that. If anything's worthless here it's you." Her lips curled into a smug grin, visage narrowing to match the aggressive taunt. Moody rocked side to side with the patter of rain. A giant raindrop amidst the smaller falling from the sky and piling into large puddles on the partially frozen ground. He seemed rather oblivious to the tension flaring between the others present as he hummed a couple bars of a generic tune. The castform settled though when Lenore's voice rose above the droll of rain, "He loved that last one so much let's give Tackle another go buddy!" Travis's meltdown had not subsided by the time the next round got started. He was absolutely fuming over the performance of his Sneasel who could hardly put a dent in Moody. As hard as the icy demon tried it could not do much damage as the only attacks it knew were a total waste on such a rare Pokemon. It's high physical strength was offset by the weak moves it knew as Travis had not gotten around to teaching it a worthwhile move. With that note the poor Sneasel had no choice but to try and overcome the odds with what it had at hand. " Me worthless? Bahahahaha that is is the best joke I have heard all week, it is a shame that such a silly little thing is so arrogant but no matter as my Sneasel still has plenty of fight left in it." He said as the demon slowly began to question his trainer's sanity as it was not looking good from his perspective. Still clinging to the off chance of a miracle Sneasel waited for orders as Travis would never give up even if it were clear he would lose this battle if things did not turn around soon. Show that mutant snot blob and make sure it feels a world of pain. Give it your best scratch attack." He said as Sneasel ran towards Moody at a speed unimaginable to most Pokemon, he extended his claws and swiped at the water type giving it all his strength but Moody was just too tough and scratch was just not cutting it. Before Travis could burst into a rage Moody floated towards Sneasel and tackled him at full strength causing a considerable amount of damage unlike Scratch. " Forgot being worthless as that is an insult to anything that is worthless, you are less than worthless, you might as well have a sign around your neck saying quick me I enjoy it with how little effort you have shown." As Travis nearly had a heart attack from his anger Sneasel did not even acknowledge his trainers words as all it could do to save itself from a fate worse than death was to keep fighting no matter the odds. Battle
Sneasel | Level 10 | HP: 35% (12/34) Status: Normal Used Scratch! VS. Moody | Level 13 | HP: 73% (33/45) Status: Normal (Still in overcast form so it is a water type currently) Used Tackle!Weather: Rain
Ooc: Note to next mod. Make sure when calculating damage to set Castform to be a water type before rolling for damage as Sulcalculator does not set Castform to be a water type just by setting rain as the weather.

The man's blind ignorance brought a sweet lace to her devious grin. Oh it was just beautiful. There was no way this fool was going to best her. In fact... While the man blabbered on insults in some sort of insane rage the finely dressed lady reached her free hand down to the innards of her coat, fingers feeling around the soft fabric for the loops which held all of her pokéballs. Mentally mapping which one was where she plucked one of the compressed devices from its resting place and brought it before her. "Alright dear," she began with a chime. Moody half twisted round at the signal, knowing the tone meant something else would be coming to change up this one-sided battle. Perhaps he'd get another command other than Tackle? As fun as it was those claws were starting to take their toll and the little raindrop was beginning to ache where he'd been scratched so many times. "Just one more smack down mmm kay? Be careful not to overdue it though," she added with a wink. The jolly castform gave a happy nod and twirled on the spot. It wasn't a different command, but he saw the expansion of the pokéball in her hand. The blond haired trainer giggled quietly, passing another adoring glance at Sneasel before turning her eyes up to the Hunter. "You won't have to worry about keeping such an under appreciated pokémon any longer as I'll be taking him off your hands. You haven't even taught the poor thing any good techniques!"After Moody and Sneasel had exchanged their round of attacks Lenore tossed the pokéball into the air and out popped Red. The charmander was not much a fan being released into the rain, expression immediately dropping into an annoyed frown as she watched Moody retreat back closer to Lenore as the switch out was made.
