Name: Vorn Stratton
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Trainer Type: Trainer/Hopeful Psychic
Hometown: Saffron City, Kanto
Appearance: Vorn is around 6 foot, with a lean, athletic build. He has short black hair and gels his short fringe upwards. He has light brown eyes and a smattering of faded freckles on his cheeks. He tends to slouch but will correct it if he notices himself doing it. He wears a red t-shirt with a black leather jacket, and dark blue jeans. A belt that holds the reduced-size Pokeballs holds his jeans up.
He wears white and green running shoes, though the colours are faded and he should probably buy a new pair soon. Vorn has a backpack where he stores all of his vital gear, and usually slings it over one shoulder. He also has a small tent inside his backpack in case he can't afford to stay the night at a hotel. He has a cheap digital watch on his left arm with a black band.
Personality: Vorn is a scrappy, happy-go-lucky kinda guy. He's friendly and enjoys the company of others, and loves to travel. He is simple and doesn't need a lot to keep himself happy, especially if it involves interacting with others. He's into sports and outdoor activities, and not a big reader. While persistent, if his patience does run out, it can send him into a deep depression which is hard for him to dig himself out of.
While he can be easily entertained, Vorn needs a driving goal in his life that he's working towards; without that, he loses motivation quickly. He can get tunnel vision and not notice the little things while focusing on the big picture. He takes most things in his stride and rarely loses his temper. While he trains, and has trained, many types of Pokemon, his focus on his new journey is to find psychic, dark and ghost types, as he believes they are the strongest types.
History: Vorn took up the Pokemon Trainer challenge when he was 12 years old, leaving home to journey around Kanto with the hopes of beating the gym leaders to make it to the Elite Four. He battled his way through the towns, earning badges as he went, until he returned to his home town, Saffron City. He faced Sabrina, the psychic-type master, and was beaten easily.
Frustrated, he took some time off to train his team, and then returned to the gym where he was defeated again. Vorn continuously attempted to beat Sabrina, but her strength and cunning were too great for him, and he eventually gave up, relinquishing his dreams of being a Pokemon master.
Vorn kept his Pokemon at home as pets and grew up, starting work at Saffron City's Pokemart when he turned 16. He hoped one day he could get a job at Silph Co., the biggest business in all of Kanto. When he turned 18, he applied for a job opening there, but the interview went horribly, and he was told in no uncertain terms that he was not meant to work for Silph Co.
Finding himself depressed and irritated at another failure, Vorn stared up at a billboard on his way home, seeing an advertisement for the Pokemon League in Johto, the land only a short trip from Kanto. Remembering his failure in the Kanto circuit but still realising, to his surprise, that his old dream was still alive, he figured he could travel to Johto and try the Pokemon League there. If he won, he could challenge the Elite Four that way, and then maybe come back and show Sabrina who the true trainer was!
Using his savings to purchase a Magnet Train ticket from Saffron to Goldenrod City, he made an appointment to see Professor Oak in New Bark Town to begin his journey anew.
Goals: Become a Pokemon Master, or at least make it to the Elite Four
Become a specialist in Psychic, Dark and/or Ghost Pokemon
Defeat Sabrina
