The paralyzing shocks trickling through Scyther's body looked to be picking up for the moment, the mantis pokémon jerking oddly as she did her best to focus in on her opponent. "Great work Scyther I know you can handle this," Bugsy called to support his pokémon just as Penelope was to her own. Both bug types were giving it their all.
"Just ease off a bit and try to work through that effect. Time for a Focus Energy! Then we don't need to hit often, just hard."

As Scyther gave the gym leader a nod, Horizon doing the same and beginning to build up her psychic energy and take aim. Thankfully her opponent would be an even easier target than previously as the only thing she'd need to account for were the random jerks occasionally putting the green pokémon in odd contortions. When ready she fired the beam, the torrent of energy spearing into Scyther. Afterward she tried to recover from the blow and focus herself inward but the paralysis coursing through her body was just too distracting to hone in.

Watching the opponent struggle, Penelope figured that now the only thing she would need to do was to wear out the Scyther's endurance. She smiled happily (had she really stopped smiling in this battle so far?) and watched the battle with eyes wide open with excitement. The green bug was jerking occasionally in protest while under paralysis, and the Focus Energy seemed to be unable to be used due to the concentration distracted by the numbing paralysis.

"Keep it up, Horizon! Another Psybeam!" She shouted her order yet again, and just silently watch her Pokemon slowly making the Scyther's mind going crazy. If she kept this up, the Scyther would have to go crazy sooner or later, if the paralysis wasn't driving the green bug in frustration already.

Bugsy was still confident that Scyther would be able to shrug off the paralysis long enough to strike again. With its lowered speed combined with Horizon's greater speed it would not get off the first move in most cases but Quick Attack allowed the bug to deliver the first strike. " Scyther I know we can still pull through this together. Use Quick Attack on that Vivillon before it can deal any more damage." Scyther sprung into action at a breakneck pace as it collided with Horizon how despite her best efforts Scyther could not knock Horizon out. The young bug wasted no time retaliating.

A pair of brightly colored beams formed in front of Horizon's eyes before being fired at Scyther. The mantis took quite a bit of damage but her secret weapon activated allowing her to recover some hp. " I was hoping she could go longer without using it but my Scyther was holding a Sitrus Berry. It recovers quite a bit of her hp though it can only be used once. Even so she looks like she is in far better shape now." Bugsy said as he watched Scyther carefully. It was clear that the paralysis was still bothing the bug but her hp was improved so Bugsy was not in too bad a position as the round ended.

" Only time will tell if using the Sitrus Berry this early will have consequences down the line but I will have to face them head on if any arise. I can hardly wait to see how the next round goes." He said as the two Pokemon got ready far another round.

As the battle continued, Penelope can't help but giggle. She was so close to winning, she thought, but then the Scyther managed to pull through to attack her Vivillon, and apparently had a secret berry to restore its health. "Wow, A Sitrus Berry! That must have been really helpful for your Pokemon to fight in the battle! Too bad your Scyther is still paralyzed!" Penelope replied, dishing out both compliment and sass at the same time. Though he face grimed a bit, as she could see her VIvillon was struggling. She'll have to consider her Pokemon defeat for now, as she also didn't want to use a healing item yet.

"You did great, VIvillon! Return!" She held out a Pokeball and returned her dazzling bug. "Come on out, Potato! Use Take Down!" She swapped her Pokemon and sent out a rather tall and big bunny, the Pokemon also smelled a bit of mud and ground. The ground type was also looking quite as jolly as the trainer.

Bugsy was happy he was winning against a trainers Pokemon, he also felt a pang of guilt. After all, that was a pretty bug Pokemon and if one thing Bugsy did love was bug Pokemon. The green haired trainer was about to call a command when a light zapped across the field to return Horizon. Bugsy smiled "Thank you for showing her to me, now Scyther use quick attack on what ever comes out that ball!" he said as the ball was mid flight.

But Scyther was slow to move only to be stopped as the golden brown powder sprinkled off his body. No matter how much the Scyther moved it was stuck. Letting out a grown, he looked up to see what Pokemon was now on the field. His jaw dropped at the big bunny like Pokemon infront of him. "oh wow! This Pokemon is massive and is happy as you!"[/font] he half complimented, half joked with the trainer. Bugsy smiled "We get to go again, use quick attack.

Scyther rushed forward, granted a little slower then normal as he was still fighting the effects of stun spore but. It hit doing little damage to Potato's round belly. Potato smiled, after all it was happy it got to fight for its trainer. Using all it's weight to slam into the Scyther causing Critical damage.

Penelope nodded cheerily, of course this Diggersby was as happy as she was. They're like a team! They're like partner in the crime of jolly little fighters! Although the Scyther was numbed from the paralysis effect of the yellow powders, it managed to pull a Quick Attack after trying attack. She almost let out a giggle when the Scyther hit Potato's round belly and then made a little sound.

Penelope excitement grew as her Pokemon returned with a powerful Take Down attack. She was so ready and anticipated she almost didn't wait for the Scyther to finish to order her next move. When the bug did finished, she continued, "YAY! That was great! Yup! Potato is massive and likes carrots and potatoes! Now go for another Take Down!" She cheered as her Pokemon's ear-arm made a fist and slammed together, pumping himself up before going forward with another Take Down.

Bugsy Gym Battle!

"Scyther, you've got this! Just a few more hits and we can take down this jolly fighter!" Bugsy called out, trying tofill his Pokemon with a bit more determination. Scyther was always a determined hunter, but with her being paralyzed in this manner... things were looking rather dire. The gym leader had been rather chipper at the beginning of the battle, but this like many others was beginning to nose dive towards defeat. Bugsy didn't mind losing, but he did wish he could be as chipper as Potato and Penelope. "Likes potatoes and carrots? Then it's a very apt name! I shudder to think of the sheer amount of food I bet he could pack away..." The food bill must be expensive...

"Let's make sure this isn't our last turn! Fight that paralysis and let's go in for a Quick Attack!" Bugsy commanded, watching Scyther fight the status effect that was keeping her stunned on the ground. With shaky scythes and legs, she brought herself to her feet and dashed forward, slamming her body into the body of Diggersby. The large ears of Potato tried to grab at the bug given that she was so close, but the Scyther managed to slip out in enough time. Potato tried to leap after her to slam her down to the ground with a Take Down, but instead tackled the air. Potato bounced against the ground and then used the momentum to pull himself back up onto his feet with his big belly bounce. Bugsy stifled a small smile. He had to give the bunny credit. The ears looked ridiculous, but they (as well as the belly) definitely seemed to come in handy. With Take Down missing this turn, Bugsy and Scyther still had a shot. If only he had another berry to heal her or get rid of the paralysis...

"I must say, this is one of the more entertaining matches i've had in a long time! Interesting choices of Pokemon, and a lot of character as well! I'm sure you'll go very far." He called out, crossing his arms and flashing her a smile.

"Thank you, Bugsy! Before we go far though, we'll need to get your badge first! Hang in there Potato! You're almost there! Go for another Take Down!" Penelope cheered her Pokemon and grinned. The battle so far had been an excitement. Although she wasn't happy with her Vivillon getting beat down by the opponent, she was glad that the Diggersby was able to handle this praying mantis alone. She didn't really feel the need to tell Bugsy that they only do picnic or make their own food sometimes, since when you're traveling throughout a region, it's easier to carry high nutrition Pokemon food with you than a bunch of potato and broccoli that could spoil or promote mouldy growth in your backpack. She wasn't Brock with a magic refrigerator.

As Diggersby began charging, she began childishly chanting and singing softly, "You- can- do- it! You- can- do- it! Take- Down! Take- Down!" At least this singing was better than a five years old singing songs from a movie they saw five times already, and original.

"Huh, seems we're in a bit of a tight spot, huh girl?" Bugsy asked his Scyther, who was trying to move but was also currently stuck within the bind of the status ailment she was currently suffering. He didn't have anything to rid her of her issue, all he could do was hope she would pull through, and they'd continue for at least another turn or two. "Scyther, don't let em' get the best of you! Use Quick Attack!"

And he could tell that she was really trying to move, but every single joint in her body refused. She couldn't fight the status, not in her current state. And as Penelope sang her final command, her Diggersby finally delivered. He charged, an energy surrounding him as he slammed heavily into the Scyther, knocking it to the ground. And Bugsy knew it was over, having the ref call the match as he returned his Scyther to her Pokeball.

"Let me tell you, that was one of the most interesting battles I've had in quite a while." he said as he crossed the field, the referee meeting him half way to hand him the prizes. "Penelope, in memory of a great battle." He presented her with the Hive badge, glinting in the gym lights as he passed it to her. "I present you with the Hive Badge!" He said with a grin. "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get my Pokemon healed up." he said, handing her a wrapped item and an envelope before parting. "Go far, trainer!"

As the battle continued once more, Penelope held on to her optimism that she would win this battle. Besides the fact that she needed her Vivillon to rest and retreat earlier, this Diggersby seemed to be serving up a plate of hard hitting potato on his own. Along with the paralysis, the buggy foe was slowed in its track to destroy Potato. The young girl could see the struggling Scyther, but that was part of her strategy when she ever needed Horizon's help.

The green bug struggled and can't seemed to land a Quick ATtack before Potato's Take Down, and in a flash of few seconds, the bug fell and luckily not squished. She couldn't believe that she did it! She gaped in awe of her victory. (Well, maybe she could, since she's a little prideful of her skills.)

"Thank you Bugsy! It's been a really great battle with you as well! Thank you!" Penelope rejoiced, and received her prize rewards for defeating the gym leader. She then ran up with her DIggersby and they both sang and danced a little bit before calling him back and figured out what to do next.
