Using her wits to great triumph, June was all amusement as she danced around the Nidoran's attempt to stave her off with his sharp little horn. What might have scared her as a younger, untried Spearow was not as intimidating now, her fiery spirit having grown as she traveled with her trainer. His initial dislike of her appearance, and her rivalry with Astraea, had already made her much stronger than she'd ever been on Route 29 as she fought hard to impress and spite both of them. Despite having taken her time to preen her feathers to an impeccable shine, she was still the gruff Spearow under all her temporary beauty and made sure her opponent knew it with the first Peck she delivered. Pulling back to give herself some breathing room, June watched with delight as the Nidoran didn't appear to want to attack in kind. Perfect. Yet, also disappointing, as it was more fun to get a real fight, though she wouldn't complain about being able to battle again. 'And that's the last of you!' the Spearow declared as she administered another sharp Peck, beating her wings to put distance between them once more. To her surprise, the Nidoran stirred shortly after his collapse, hurrying away from her and Ashton before they could so much as blink. Ashton grinned as June made her way back over, approval clear as day for his Pokemon to see. "Good girl. Sorry it wasn't much of a fight. I think Hyperion might have scared away the stronger Pokemon here," he said in an apologetic voice, June sighing in dismay. She landed on his shoulder, careful not to dig in her talons, lest he imprison her in her ball for all of eternity. Or however long his anger would last, eternity being the most likely span. He turned his head slightly to glance at her, June returning his gaze steadily for long enough to make him sigh in turn. "I'm guessing you want to stay out for a bit, stretch your wings?" Ashton correctly guessed, June affirming this with a squawk. Inclining his head, the model grimaced as she pushed down in order to take off again, extending her wings to their widest and beating them to ascend upwards. Watching her, Ashton smiled to himself, knowing that having some eyes in the sky could help pinpoint some other sources of training. June wouldn't have agreed had he said it aloud, Ashton not willing to risk her flying off out of range out of sheer spite. She'd ignored him before, and even if she was content today, she was still a rather temperamental Spearow. He called out to her as she circled above him, instructing her to stay close by in case her help was needed once more. ((Word count: 400. Adding to each incubator and Heracross egg. As June circled above she could have never guessed that a Pokemon had been keeping track of her from the ground. Unlike most Pokemon on the route who had to use theirneyes however this one was able to use it's psychic powers to do so. This particular Pokemon liked to avoid direct confrontations as it was not very durable however when a fight could not be avoided it was able to spring into action at a moments notice. It had been doing a great job tracking June as it hid in a nearby bush for the longest of time until a female Nidoran decided to poke it in the back with her horn. The psychic Pokemon leaped out in pain and landed right in front of Ashton. It gulped realizing how much trouble it was now in. Meditite looked right at Ashton as it grew more terrified by the second. It was a rare Pokemon in these parts making it highly sought after by humans who were on their way to Azalia Town. It was the main attraction to the area along with a well known headbutt tree and as a result Meditite rarely got peace whenever they tried to have a relaxing day. June had noticed the small Pokemon by now but waited for Ashton to order her to come down as from her height she could track Meditite if it tried to run. The and psychic type Pkkemon was in quite a pickle as it tried to use it's psychic powers to find a way out. Given the dire situation it was in anything would work if it allowed for a successful escape. Unfortunately there really was no way out within the range of it's powers and Ashton would not wait forever for a rare Pokemon to try and escape. Meditite knew a battle was the only choice it had left. It was not ideal but it did still have hope of some kind of escaping though the odds dropped by the second. It was a pretty high leveled Pokemon for the area and it hoped that would work in it's favor as it kept all of it's focusnon Ashton. The human was the biggest threat to it's freedom and it had to find some way to make him mess up soon or else it might end up captured like it's friends. As it waited for Ashton's first move it prayed to Arceus to avoid that same fate. A wild Meditite (Level 14) appeared. Please select a Pokemob.

Ashton chose to keep watch on June this time around, trusting her not to be a terror and scare off more Pokemon just for the fun of it. He didn't blame Hyperion for the scarcity of encounters, knowing they were never quite alone with something or someone watching, and it was likely those who lived here would warn other Pokemon about their presence. Such a fact was understood and grudgingly accepted, no matter how much he longed to give up the pretense of being a statue and go searching for them instead. Even if he meant possibly ruining his clothes in the pursuit of power. Thankfully that wasn't necessary yet, as he spotted June tipping her wings and angling down lower, her gaze locked on something that had stumbled out of some nearby bushes with a faint cry of pain that Ashton could hear even at a distance. The Pokemon didn't appear too concerned with her, its focus entirely on Ashton, causing a faint smile to crease his face. ( Yes. I'm the real threat here, the wild card you can't predict.) He whistled sharply when June would had descended in a hail of claws and feathers, calling her over despite her outraged cry. This fight would have been an easy one for here, too easy really, but Ashton as always had another plan. He knew what Meditite was, though not its relative rarity, and decided to bring out a Pokemon perfect for what he had in mind. Ashton sent out his Scyther, the older Bug-type taking a moment to stretch out and enjoy the sun with an expression that was as close to peaceful as the model had ever seen. He needed no reminder that he'd been called out for a reason, head turning in his direction just enough to snag Ashton with one unfriendly eye. Takeshi was similar to Hyperion, barely hiding his condescension towards Ashton, but neither was he stupid enough to spur an opportunity to fight under a trainer. June regarded Takeshi warily, her mingled respect and fear enough to prevent her from making any kind of comment towards the brutal, intelligent Scyther. There was some air about him that she picked up on, a quality to him that said he was not one to cross - ever. "Takeshi, I'd like your assistance with this," Ashton began, not quite looking his Scyther in the eye and instead nodding in Meditite's direction. "False Swipe." He didn't waste time explaining why, and Takeshi had a moment's appreciation for the simple, direct order, even if he didn't understand the choice of move. Shifting his focus entirely to the trembling Meditite, Takeshi advanced forwards with deliberate slowness, drawing out the tension that was rife in the air. ((Word count: 400. This one was big. Menacing. A sharpness to him beyond the bladed arms and angular build. Meditite had plenty of regrets at this moment but... it was here, now, and it needed to act in accordance to its current predicament. The wild pokémon took a moment to steady its mind, even as the large green bug stepped into motion. His membrane wings buzzed to life, soft and whipping, carrying the scyther with incredible speed toward his target. Meditite trembled, closing its eyes at the last moment. The sight of the preying mantis, arm raised ready to strike, burned into its eyelids as it awaited the attack. With careful precision Takeshi brought his blade down, initially looking to aim for a more vital position but it was a feint. He struck the meditite on its bulk, ensuring a chunk of damage without risking a fatal wound. The small fighting psychic muffled a squeal of pain, using the feeling to fuel its own attack. Meditite's eyes opened now, with Takeshi up close and personal it was easy to exert the psychic energies into a whirl of dizzying color straight into the bug's mind. The scyther stepped back, lightly shaking his head, but overall the wild pokémon's retaliation was lack luster. Another claw came down. A repeat of the last. And Meditite stumbled back away. It's legs shaking and gaze unfocused the psychic released another wave of confusion upon Takeshi. Unfortunately it was just as ineffective. The dizziness was shaken off and the mantis resumed looming over the small fighter. Wild Battle

Watching Takeshi was fascinating in a way Ashton couldn't really explain. He'd gotten the gruff Scyther from the smug redhead who'd gifted him a few other Pokemon, and she'd taken the time to explain about Takeshi's temperament in case Ashton wasn't sure how to 'handle it'. Remembering the conversation made his blood boil, brain interpreting her tone as snide, even though he was sure she was only ensuring he took decent care of her Pokemon, being a new trainer and all. But there was something in her face had said another thing entirely, and Ashton wasn't sure if he liked the spitfire girl or not. Wrenching his thoughts back to the present, Ashton found himself drawn by Takeshi's deliberate approach as the Scyther did his best to cow the Meditite he'd been sent out to, unfortunately, weaken instead of devastate. And all done without a word uttered to the Meditite, Takeshi hardly the sort to taunt his opponents when he did perfectly fine scaring the figurative pants off them otherwise. The slow approach proved perfect, Takeshi suddenly swinging one raised scythe down in a blow that sent his opponent stumbling backwards. He'd held back most of his power, despite wanting to utterly crush his foe, and smirked at the reaction his attack received. Taking the psychic blow with a soft snort, Takeshi bemused by the attempted retaliation. At least the Meditite was fighting back, though this didn't garner it any points with the Scyther. He lashed out a second time, taking another Confusion for his troubles, and retreated a few steps before reluctantly glancing back at his trainer. June continued circling above Ashton whilst watching the battle unfold, glad she was up here and not the one facing the admittedly terrifying Scyther. Type advantage be damned, Takeshi was frightening when he really wanted to be. Ashton had already prepared, a blue and red-striped ball sitting in the palm of his hand as the model caught Takeshi's eye. The Scyther studied him intently, as if weighing the idea of disobeying and fainting the Meditite anyways, before he acquiesced and stepped aside. Behaving now would net him another chance to battle, so he would hold off... for now. "Thank you. Keep on guard in case it decides to break free," Ashton called to his Scyther, not waiting for the mantis' response before he crooked his arm back and let the Great Ball fly. June sighed, disappointed she wouldn't be able to see the 'super scary Scyther' back in action again. ((Word count: 400. Adding to Heracross egg.)) ▲ ● (Tossing a Great Ball. Updating.) ●

Being in the scyther's shadow was a cold place. The relentless gaze lusting down laced with a blood thirst lurking in the corners. Meditite had no idea how it was going to manage to defeat such a terrifyingly powerful foe, though, it almost admired Takeshi for it. The wild pokémon had done well to get as strong as it was on its own, but there was always a tier of power beyond what any wild pokémon could achieve. A motion from the trainer caught Meditite's eye just then. The psychic fighter's gaze went straight to the object in Ashton's hand. It smiled wearily. With Takeshi stepping to the side Meditite didn't try to get away; even if it was possible as it stood on its last legs. The ball swiftly absorbed the wild pokémon and began the capturing process. The light turning on with a bright red glow as it plopped to the ground. Though, it seemed like only a second before the satisfying click sounded and the capture was confirmed. Takeshi had closed his eyes as the ball sailed past him, assured that he would not be needed to convince Meditite that the best option would be to stay inside it. The upside would also be not having to face him again, without the mercy he had been forced to bestow in order to not upset the boy suffering from delusions of power. Not that the Scyther particularly cared about Ashton's feelings that much, but he was keen enough to know avoiding reprimand would bring him closer to perhaps enacting his long-planned revenge against that blasted steel bird. Examining his scythes with a bored look, Takeshi ignored Ashton as he and June made their way over to the now motionless ball and picked it up. Staring at his reflected face on the surface of the capture device, Ashton frowned before pocketing it into his bag. The Pokemon wasn't very cute or cool, but he could probably find a willing owner. After all, who wouldn't want a Pokemon that had been owned - briefly - by Ashton Reid? Of course, he couldn't do anything with it being stuck in the middle of this route, and resigned himself to figuring out a way to pitch a sale for his new acquisition. Amber eyes roamed over to where Takeshi was standing, the Scyther engrossed in checking his scythes for any damage sustained from the brief battle. No, he wouldn't get much interest with a very intimidating Pokemon like him standing out in the open, so Ashton hurriedly returned him to his ball before the Bug-type knew what had happened. June dipped down a little lower in her circling flight, head cocked to one side in silent question. "Yes. You can stay out for a little longer. But this time try not to attack before I decide what to do," Ashton replied, voice dry. June managed to make a sound that resembled a snort, noisily beating her wings to regain altitude. Ashton tilted his head back to watch her fly, a smile teasing at the edges of his mouth. What June lacked in physical beauty she made up for in the grace of flight, and it was pleasing to watch her confidently soar in the sky like she owned it. ( There's hope for you after all, scruffy princess.) Shaking his head, Ashton began strolling aimlessly in hopes of coming across something else to do. ((Word count: 400. Adding to Heracross egg. As the two walked along, they could hear a slight cry. It sounded like a Pokemon and it continued to come closer. A pack of Poochyena ran by, and one seemed to lag behind. It appeared to be a bit agitated and angry, The dog saw Ashton and his partner, and decided he had found his fight. The Poochyena pounced on June, Letting off a Bite! The dog then got up howling, as if wanting to pick a legiot fight with the trainer and his pokemon. Boy was this pooch in a horrid mood. You wonder if it's just some strange coincidence but this poochyena seems a bit more angry then usual for a poochyena. Maybe somebody released it, or even hurt it? The Poochyena seems to have a small diamond barette on it's ear signalling it mustve had a trainer but the trainer released it back into the wild. Who would do such a thing? A Wild Poochyena [LV.13] Appered! What will Ashton Do?

June drew up short as both she and her trainer heard something noisy passing close by, hovering in place to let Ashton catch up and scan the area with identical looks of confusion. They didn't have long to wait as the source of the noise made itself known as a pack of Poochyena, one of whom seemed to slow down before breaking off to lope in their direction. Ashton didn't have time to call a warning as the hound lunged forwards, managing to nip June before the Spearow could fly up out of reach. She screeched in fury, wanting to lash the impudent Dark-type across its sensitive nose with her beak, only holding back when she glanced at Ashton and caught him shaking his head slightly. Ugh. He was being such a buzzkill lately, denying her all the fun fights... or ones that had her dignity at stake. Being nipped by some nosy pup fouled her mood, and she fluttered even higher to ignore the battle she would definitely NOT be participating in. "You think you're funny, hmm? You're lucky June didn't near peck your eyes out for getting nippy with her," Ashton said in a scolding tone to the Poochyena. His eyes lingered on what was attached to one ear, causing him to frown. Was he looking at someone's pet? If it was running lose and going round biting Pokemon, or Reshiram forbid, people, then there was quite a problem at hand. Reaching into his bag, Ashton was almost regretting his choice of Pokemon considering how Poochyena had made itself known, but he didn't back out despite this. Letting the ball fly, the model braced himself as Ari appeared in a flash of light, shaking out her tails with a soft cry. One look at her soon to be opponent and the fox immediately spun to face her trainer, who held up both hands to forestall her protest. "No, Ari. If you want to be groomed, you earn it. And I think you can handle this," Ashton said in a gentle, but firm, tone. Ari managed a pout, but she reluctantly turned back and pouted at the Poochyena instead. "Good. Now, start off with Ice Beam my dear," Ashton said, pleased. Flicking her tails once again, this time as a lead-up to her attack, the icy fox put one paw forwards as her mouth opened to let the icy energy building up within find a way out. The air around her body took on a pretty shimmer, reminding Ashton of how everything looked when it was about to snow. While visually nice to look at, he doubted Poochyena would appreciate it as much as he did when the hound felt the actual attack being directed at it. ((Word count: 400. The pooch growled, keeping up the fearsome charade it was trying to build up. The chastising from the trainer didn't sit well with the wild pokémon at all, ears twitching back as it barked first at Ashton and then to the cawing spearow ascending into the sky. When Ari was sent out the hound snarled, lips curling back as she took half a step forward to face off against this snowy vulpine. There was a spark of jealousy in the poochyena's eyes as it glared down the pristine vulpix, particularly flaring up when she drew upon her icy power and began glittering in the sun like fresh snow fall. As if in attempt to demonstrate her toughness she didn't even try to escape the beam. She squared off, bearing down and waited for the blast to come. And it did. In a dazzling display her power burst from her maw, engulfing the hound with the frosty blast. Its thick coat staved off the worst of the chill but even so it had underestimated Ari's power. The pup struggled to take another step, barely managing the difficulty and after accomplishing it decided to stay put. Instead she tipped her head toward the sky and howled. It was a long call and the longer it sounded the more confident the wild pokémon became. Wild Battle

Despite her intention to most definitely not watch the battle she had been so unjustly barred from, June couldn't help taking a peek at the action going on below. Seeing the sparkles that Ari gave off as a prelude to her attack made an instinctive shiver ripple through her feathers - freezing ice was one of the Spearow's least favourite things. She circled about on lazy wings, only beating her wings enough to keep her aloft and far from the chill that Ari gave off. Watching the frozen beam strike the Poochyena almost succeeded in making June wince in sympathy, before she realized at whom the sympathy was for, and immediately became apathetic towards to whole battle all over again. Hmph, she didn't care for some yappy, bite-happy mongrel that wanted to ruin the work she'd done on her glossy, lovely plumage. It deserved to get frozen for what it had put her through. Ashton backed up as he realized the coolness in the air was starting to come through his clothes and cause goosebumps to rise along his arms, rubbing at them absently while keeping an eye on the fight. Ari was a decent battler, even if he wasn't sure if it resulted from motivation to be groomed or just natural talent that she'd buried under her need to avoid unnecessary conflict. Regardless, watching her attack in so elegant a manner made him imagine life as one of those contest co-ordinators he'd seen on TV before. She'd be perfectly suited for such a lifestyle, especially considering the power that underlay the elegance the Vulpix strove for. Ari shook herself vigorously after striking the Poochyena, bracing herself for an attack that wouldn't come. Instead the hound tipped its head back and howled wildly, the keening note growing in strength before the sound trailed off, leaving their foe looking a good deal more confident. Ashton settled for a slight grin, admiring the courageous showing even though the Dark-type likely knew it was outclassed. He was doubly glad it hadn't attacked back, allowing Ari to escape getting dirty and demand more grooming for penance. "One more time," the model called out, Ari's ears twitching in acknowledgment of the order. Her own confidence had flourished in absence of a physical blow, and she stepped forwards with steely determination in her eyes. A soft cry was all the Ice-type permitted herself before readying another Ice Beam, filling the air with another lovely display of glittering icy particles. he poochyena flew back harshly, unable to get back up. The pokemon was abandoned once would June catch the pokemon? The diamond barette clanged to the ground, and it shimmered with a light blue glow. Would June pick the barette up and keep it? After all, some evil villian could easilly scoop it up and sell it for a big price. The pooch weakly cried out, injured severly. This just wasn;t fair- it was abandoned and then defated in battle. Didn't anyone appreciate poochyenas anymore? The young dog got up and was about to run off into the forest, figuring it would never trust another human again after this. After all, the puppy was upset and depressed over all that had happened to it. Could this damaged pokemon ever be healed? Wild Battle

Poochyena finally fell to Ari's onslaught, the snow fox flicking her tails in evident delight. It was nice to participate in a battle where she hadn't been attacked, even though this meant less dedicated time for grooming later. Ashton knelt down next to her and reached out cautiously, Ari leaning forwards to press her snout softly against his proffered hand. Deeming the contact fine, she allowed him to stroke her soft, almost velvety fur a few times before withdrawing and staring up at him expectantly. "Fine, darling. You did very well in that battle," Ashton said as he rose back up, casting a glance at the Poochyena as it seemed to linger despite having free enough reign to scamper off before either himself or his Pokemon could go after it. It was clearly distressed, but Ashton hesitated to approach it after what it had done to June - those jaws could easily do worse damage to him than a few feathers tugged loose if the hound chose to turn on him. June called out from above, as if sensing he was thinking about her, and he glanced up to see her just above him, meeting his gaze before shaking her head. Maybe in a different situation he could have helped, but one solitary, upset Poochyena wasn't enough to detract from other duties he needed to see to in town. Recalling Ari and June to their balls, the model headed back towards Azalea and into the Pokemon Center, a full day passing before he found himself back outdoors. He hadn't intended to stay the night, but his legs ached abominably and Ari's grooming had taken longer than he'd thought. Opting for a slightly different path on Route 33, Ashton found it scarcely different from where he'd spent most of the day before. Just lots and lots and lots of trees. Ashton sighed, pausing to adjust his scarf and casting a wary eye about. He'd been warned about some uncommon Pokemon having moved into the area, and the last thing he wanted was to be caught unawares, or inadvertently anger one due to carelessness. For that reason, his phone had been banished to the back pocket of his pants, not easily reached thanks to his long coat, but not totally inaccessible. The model's tread was a bit more cautious as he continued walking, determined to avoid nasty surprises by the local fauna more than ever. ((Need Ari swapped for Scintilla. The weather had taken quite a turn overnight, clouds hanging above heavy and dark. It was perhaps a good thing Ashton had taken a slightly less traveled path this time as the trees hunched over top provided a bit of shelter. A wind had picked up with a chill along with, snowflakes had been pouring over the landscape for quite some time leaving the ground which was once sodden and green now just a blanket of white. No doubt ice would be soon to follow it, but for now the ensuing snowstorm which Ashton had walked into was doing well to keep the frozen layer well beneath the growing pile of flakes. Not many trainers were like to wander out here, which could be nice for some. It was certainly appreciated by certain native pokémon. Seated on a fallen trunk up ahead was one such pokémon, legs folded in front of it as it meditated despite the weather conditions. A bit of cold was nothing new to it, as the psychic fighter often traveled within the area to try and find new surroundings to test itself and train its mind and body. This day was just another test; with the bonus it didn't have to go very far to find it. However, Ashton's approach disturbed it. The crunch of footsteps reaching through the breeze that managed to break through the weave of trees. If not for Azalea's natural walls it would no doubt be rather blustery. But the wind and flakes melting on cheeks was not the worst the snowstorm had to offer. As if queued by the trainer and wild pokémon meeting hardened pellets began falling from the sky. Meditite momentarily closed its eyes, likely accompanied by a sigh, then rose from its seated position and gave a nod to the boy. Meditite LV 13 has issued a challenge! Weather = Hail

His coat offered some protection against the chilly air, but not enough to keep the sting out of it, nor out of the flakes that lashed against his exposed cheeks. If it weren't for the drive to make his team strong enough to handle the local Gym, his annoyance would have triumphed and driven him back to town seeking warmth and idleness instead. Snow crunched pleasantly against his feet as Ashton continued down the route, glad for the natural windbreaker of trees as he listened to it whistling just beyond them. The sight of the blanketed snow made him regret having Ari stowed back in his PC box, knowing she would have been overjoyed to go dashing through it. He couldn't keep pampering her, however, to get her to battle, lest she become something of a spoiled princess. Ashton glanced up at what sky he could see through the branches waving above him, frowning at the gunmetal gray clouds that had taken up residence. That didn't bode well. Distracted as he was by the state of the weather, he nearly missed the Meditite that had been perched on a nearby trunk had it not been for the icy pellets that forced his gaze back down. Catching sight of the Pokemon, Ashton stopped in his tracks, their eyes meeting briefly before Meditite nodded at him. Torn between equal parts dismay and amusement, the model didn't react immediately beyond inclining his head in return. It was great that he hadn't needed to travel very far to find something to battle, even in this wintry storm, yet it wasn't something Iki could handle without help. And so the Pokemon he had to turn to gave him a sense of deja vu as he reached for the ball in question, sending it forth with a quick toss. Takeshi didn't land in the snow, instead beating his wings to hover just off the ground. He spared an instant to give Ashton a nasty look, for sending him out in such conditions, but otherwise waited for the command to be given. Well, Ashton thought, that was a slight improvement in attitude. "False Swipe, twice!" Ashton called, raising his voice to ensure he'd be heard over the wind and icy pellets that continued to fall with the snow. Takeshi huffed quietly, wondering if this idiot boy would ever give him a real battle to enjoy instead of needing to hold back. Eyes focusing on Meditite and thoughts blocked out, the Scyther began his approach with a sharp cry and burst of speed.
