While his first attempt at fishing had been a rather disappointing adventure Marshall's luck was about to turn around for the better this time as his rod nearly snapped as the Pokemon bit down on the other end. As he reeled with all his might one thing was clear and that was that this was no Magikarp. After a few minutes he was able to reel the fish in to get a good look at it and to say it was a stunning sight was an understatement. The fish puffed up to make itself far larger as it leaped out of the water and landed a few feet away from him with a very angry look on its face. This fish was having a bad day and Marshall was going to be the poor sap that it would unleash all of its anger upon him. Timburr tried to react in time to attack the fish but its heavy log meant it was not very fast, however the fish was quite a little speed demon and noticing the fighting type trying to make its way over to attack was enough for Qwilfish to get off an attack before it could even get close. The puffer fish Pokemon fired a bunch of poison tipped needles at the small fighting type striking it multiple times doing a small amount of damage but still slowing it down even more. Timburr was still determined and it battled through the attack to deliver a swift kick right into the fish's face. It proved to be a very bad idea however as it hardly did any damage mostly just angering the fish even more. Qwilfish was already angry beyond words but after the kick it was not going to rest until Timburr fell in defeat and by now one other thing was clear and that was that Low Kick was not going to cut it against Qwilfish anytime soon. If Marshall wanted to defeat this fish he was going to need to come up with a new tactic. Wild Battle (Clear Weather)Qwilfish | Level 10 HP: 91% (33/36 HP) Status: Normal Qwilfish used Poison Sting! VS
Marshall's Timburr | Level 13 HP: 86% (40/46 HP) Status: Normal Timburr used Low Kick!
OOC: Fishing rod gains 1 level and is now level 2.0.

Marshall's heart leapt out of his chest (figuratively only, luckily enough) as a splash erupted from the waters beneath him. This time, for sure! This was a Pokémon! With absolutely no hesitation, Marshall threw Timburr's Pokéball up into the air, bellowing out an order for the new recruit as quickly as his tongue would let him.
"Timburr, give this thing a-" he started, before stalling momentarily. What moves had he seen? There was... Low Kick, if he recalled correctly. He needed to check that moveset ASAP. "Low Kick, on the double!" Timburr gracefully spun out into the open air before landing heavily on deck. However, the opponent appeared to be even faster. A flurry of Poison Stings cascaded down toward Marshall's newest partner from the opponent, who Marshall still couldn't quite make out. However, the Poison typed attack was enough to signal that this wasn't the 'mon he was after.
"Man, a Tenta-" Marshall interrupted himself with a slight gasp as the foe became clear to him. Before his eyes was a Qwilfish of all things! The blowfish wasn't something Marshall knew much about, but he was familiar enough to know that this creature was quite the uncommon sight. He smirked. Wow, his luck was really good right now. Even if he didn't want anything to do with this. "'Kay, Timburr, you heard me. Get on out there!" Timburr obliged and slid down to connect with a Low Kick attack. But Qwilfish didn't seem to be remotely bothered. If anything, the aquatic spike ball looked even more angry than it did before. And boy, did it look angry. Marshall wasn't entirely sure what had gotten under this little one's skin, but something had rubbed it the wrong way. The look in its eyes kind of reminded him of Darius, in fact. He stood there for a moment, just reminiscing about his first encounter before remembering exactly what was going on.
"Oh, er... yeah. Battle. Um. OK... Low Kick's not workin'. So..." He sighed. There was only one thing for it. He had to switch out. Unfortunately, he still couldn't say for sure what type this 'mon was. Týr was an option, but that Fairy typing would leave it vulnerable to Poison Sting if the opponent wasn't actually a Poison type. The other choice was Demeter, but she was again weak to Poison. It was a 50/50. Not great. He had to go with his gut, and that said...
"Týr, get out here!" he yelled, signalling for his Timburr to stand back while he launched the Ralts's ball forward. This little guy needed experience, after all. His team's levels were getting kinda screwed up right now. "Confusion ASAP!" he called, and Týr replied with a simple nod. He was just pleased to be getting another chance to fight after his last... mishap.

The Water and Poison-typed fish Pokemon seemed slightly surprised when the trainer called their newly caught Timburr back and sent out a Ralts to face it instead. The angry fish-out-of-water Qwilfish was not going to lose its focus in the fight, however. Right after the trainer's Ralts had replaced his Timburr, the Qwilfish went in for its first attack, tackling the opponent's Psychic-type Ralts. It dealt a good deal of damage to the Ralts. Before the Ralts could even get a chance to make its own attack, however, the much speedier Qwilfish landed another Tackle attack onto the trainer's Pokemon. The two hits alone had already seemed to do a great size of damage to the Ralts, and the Qwilfish seemed happy about that. It wished to show the trainer what it deserved for taking it from its home in the water just to battle. The Ralts than landed its own attack on the Qwilfish, Confusion. It was a weak telekinetic attack, but still managed to take the Qwilfish's health down further. The fish really did not seem to want to be battling. It wanted to be back in the water and back with in its home underneath that water. But maybe the Water-type would like a life outside of the water and with a trainer? Who knew. But all the Qwilfish knew right that moment was anger. And that anger was going to be thrown at the Ralts. Battle Weather Status: Normal Wild Qwilfish | Level 10 Health : 41% (15/36 HP)Status : Normal Used Tackle!... Used Tackle again! Marshall's Týr | Level 10 | Trace Health : 28% (8/28 HP)Status : Normal Switched out! Used Confusion!

This fish was a problem... it just wouldn't die when it was supposed to. Well, faint. Marshall could only watch, eye twitching nervously as his Ralts took two successive attacks before even making a move. Týr gave off a weak cry as the spiny fish smacked into him forcefully. Seeing the Tackle attack, Marshall was so shocked that he physically retreated a foot or so. How on earth did this fish move at all on solid ground, let alone move so well as to Tackle like that? Having earned his first badge already, the youngster had felt he knew the basics of Pokémon battles, but he'd never seen a fish fighting on land before. Regardless, he couldn't just stand there and gawp. Týr wouldn't last long if he did, especially once the Qwilfish rammed into his belly again, giving the Fairy quite a bit to think about.
"Hey, slow down there!" Marshall cried out, more in hope than expectation. It wasn't news that Týr was slow to get started, but that didn't make it any less frustrating to him. Týr let loose his burst of Confusion, but the Qwilfish sadly wouldn't take the hint, staying firmly in the land of the living. Well, conscious. Same thing as far as Marshall was concerned right now. The Fighting type lover swung his bag out in front of him and ran through it with the old, metaphorical fine-toothed comb to find a small, purple spray-bottle. Týr was one step ahead of his master, though, returning to base and presenting himself to be healed.
"Alright, bud, finish this with another Confusion would ya?" Marshall asked as he sprayed the concoction across his partner's bruised skin. Týr nodded obediently and turned slowly toward the opposition, locking onto target in preparation for the next round.
(Item being used is a Potion, just to be 100% clear.)

Tyr's energy was rejuvenated by the Potion Marshall had given him as the little psychic type Pokemon raised his little arms. Psychic energy that the little Ralts managed to use had taken the poisonous fish by surprise. It was definitely not expecting the Ralts to use said psychic energy to throw the fish down on the ground. The Qwilfish could only helplessly be tossed onto the ground with such force that it had simply closed its eyes in a matter of losing consciousness from the attack. The blue aura from the Qwilfish faded away as Tyr had his victory over the bloated blue fish. No doubt that this fish wouldn't be able to hurt him anymore. The unconscious body of the wild Qwilfish laid there as the river gushed through the riverbanks, so Tyr was free to come back near Marshall's side after the battle was over. Tyr has gained 3 levels and grew to level 13! He is trying to learn Disarming Voice. Will Tyr forget a move to learn Disarming Voice?

(GIMME DAT FAIRY MOVE! Forget Growl, ta.)
The Qwilfish fought back hard and determinedly, but Marshall's Potion use seemed to keep his Psychic typed partner among the living for another round or two. Marshall breathed a sigh of relief, finally starting to get used to that slightly dirty feeling he got from using items. Keen to earn his master's praise, Týr retaliated the same as he had done for every move thus far and, this time, the Confusion settled the match once and for all. His trainer looked on with a mild sense of pride. The Ralts was growing and pretty fast at that.
"Alright, good job Týr. Come back for now, pal." With that, the young lad returned Týr to its Pokéball. He then turned back to his rod, heart sinking as he remembered why he was here. It was time to return to the waiting game. He took the rod in his grasp and cast the line back out into the ocean. His Pokédex buzzed in his pocket, signalling a new move learned, but Marshall didn't notice just yet.
(Bit rushed, but meh. More of that not-so-new fishing stuff please! :D)

After a few moments of the still waters not making any sudden movements near Marshall, his patience is rewarded as the rod begins tugging with the force of a live Pokemon. The wild fish Pokemon showed itself as it glared at the male, flopping about as its mouth was caught by the fishing hook. Puffing itself up, it flailed and splashed about in the water, trying to get itself out into the waters again as it looked over at Marshall with an annoyed look. The struggling continued as it finally got itself free of the hook and flopped onto dry land. Flapping its tail against the air, the wild Qwilfish puffed its body in and out in an attempt to intimidate the trainer as it made the spikes on its body look like needles on a pincushion. It was unexpected to have another meeting with a Qwilfish, but it seemed to be having its sights set on the trainer that managed to hook it up. A wild Qwilfish (Level 11) has been reeled in! Fishing was certainly a chore, that much Marshall knew by now. He sat on the end of the pier, watching the line in front of him dance in the breeze as the time passed. Fortunately for him, the next catch wasn't all that far away. Unfortunately, though, it would hardly incur much in the way of excitement. Another Qwilfish shot out of the waters, glaring at him as they so often do.
"Ugh, still nothin'," Marshall muttered. Were he anyone else, the prospect of getting not one but two of these relatively rare creatures would surely be a positive. He could even sell this on if he wanted to, but his tired brain just wasn't processing any of that information. Still, a battle had to be fought and this would, at least, be ample training for his Ralts once again.
"Týr, front and centre! Give this thing a couple o' Confusions to send it packin'!" With that, Marshall tossed the ball containing his Psychic typed companion out in front of him. Once more, the Feeling Pokemon emerged and set about carrying out its orders, ready to impress.
(Again, really rushed... THIS TIME I will stick around long enough to get back into the swing of RP. ._.
EDIT: Just been reminded Trace is a thing; copy Swift Swim I guess?)

The qwilfish didn't look impressed at all by Týr but it probably hadn't seen any pokemon like him before. They were not usually in places where they could meet with both of them being relatively rare, and with one hiding in the forest and the other below the surface of the water their paths would normally never cross. But with trainer's interefering unusual things happened and thus the poisonous slow fish would soon get its first experience with ralts' and their psychic abilities. The qwilfish puffed up to look bigger as Týr turned to it and it looked annoyed at him when he didn't retreat and left it alone. That was the usual reaction from the ones it lived among in the water, they knew about how prickly it was and the few that didn't keep their distance or even tried to prey on it would soon learn and stay away from then on. It expected nothing else from Týr who looked mostly like a white and green version of a poliwag, so nothing threatening at all. Its eye grew big when Týr went into action and it flew up in the air by the help of confusion, it opened its mouth in a silent scream of shock, it did not like to fly! Instinctively it gulped in and filled itself with air and soon became so round that it sent its toxic spikes flying in all directions. Týr couldn't avoid the poison sting and everyone in the vicinity had to dive to cover if they wished to avoid getting hit. The needles stung as they dug into Týr's skin and with another confusion he threw the living toxic football long out into the water where it disappeared with a splash. Týr sent the poisonous needle cushion back into the water and even learns something from it! He grows +2 levels to [lvl 15], he also found it funny so his happiness grows with +1 I think he might is missing a happiness point from winning the last battle? He can learn Lucky Chant if he forget something else. Vesta watches closely (somehow) and gains +1 lvl due to the exp-share, making her lvl 13! (ooc: I can't find anything about how Trace works if your opponent has more than one ability, but I guess you can chose then, like you can do with genders like with Cute Charm, where it is then locked if captured. Not that it makes any difference here )

(Honestly, I'd forgotten about that Trace ruling until Mid mentioned it to me, but it does ring a bell. That said, I'm rusty AF and don't know where it was decided on if it ever was.
Also, for the record, I don't think the Rod level was updated for this encounter? Unless)
This Qwilfish seemed quite unsettled by Týr's presence, probably unfamiliar with Ralts in general, and puffed itself up in defiance. Of course, such a distraction did little to put Marshall's partner off of attacking. He launched the first of his Confusion attacks, tossing the aquatic creature skyward in the process. Týr already looked back at his trainer, waiting for some kind of recognition, but none was forthcoming. Marshall was only half engaged at this point, energy having been drained somewhat by the fishing. Still, he wasn't one to give up and already had one hand on his fishing rod to have another go at it.
Qwilfish retaliated with what looked like a Poison Sting to Marshall, but his Fairy stood its ground and finished the job with a re-run of the earlier Confusion. As the Qwilfish fell down to the pier lifelessly, Marshall smiled. The speed with which that had ended was something of a surprise, even to his optimistic mind.
"Alright, good job Týr. Might as well keep you around in case you're needed," Marshall said, reaching down to pat the little Ralts on his head before brandishing his old rod once more. "Alright, maybe this time," he said halfheartedly as he cast his line again.

While Marshall was waiting for something to bite, a fog was creeping in on the peer from the forest. Or maybe the fog was rising up from the water to swallow the earth. It was really hard to tell. The visibility got blurry by the minute until all anyone could see was a white blanket of moist ten feet away. It was eerily quiet too. In this kind of weather you could almost believe you were alone in the world. Through it all, Marshall's line stayed stubbornly still, and if he lost his patience who could fault him? When he finally decided to reel it in for another or better throw, surprise of surprises the hook held a Pokeball! So at least he got something out of it. Marshall fished up a Pokeball (Ooc: 1 Pokeball to inventory = 24 total Fixes - Rod lvl to be updated to lvl 3 due to the second qwilfish hooked - Timburr should have gotten a lvl for participation in the first fight, making him lvl 14. +1 happiness point too. - Tyr the Ralts might also be missing a happiness point from the first fight, so he should end on +2 happiness when both have been accounted for. - Did Vesta the Torchic have the Xp Share in the first battle? If so, she would become lvl 14.) 1-42wNo3dds9
