A soft breeze blowing in her long green hair, sounds of rustling grass in her ear and a spring in her step. Lin was officially leaving Violet City behind her with a shiny new Zephyr Badge gifted to her by Falkner for beating him in the first in a series of Gym challenges. It had been a spectacular match and she had learned so much from it, all of which she was now hoping to test here on route 32 on her way to the next big city. It was such a beautiful day, so when it was time for a break, Lin released Iris and Tobias from their pokeballs so they too could enjoy the stunning weather. On the side of the road she found a big log to sit on, while taking out the neatly folded map and studying it to make sure that they did not miss anything exiting on the way or got lost for that matter. The map indicated that there would be some caves later on. She tapped the map with her index finger, smiling down to Iris whom was soaking up the sun. “Lots of Rock and Ground type pokemon when we get there, I just know that there will be plenty of opportunities for you to shine.” The tiny grass pokemon nodded its head in return and Lin went back to studying the map once more. Meanwhile Tobias kept buzzing in and out of the tall grass on both sides of the road exploring their surroundings. Lin had read that Cutieflies living in the wild would feed on nectar from all kind of flowers, so why not let him try it out while they were on a break anyways. Both pokemon were new additions to the team, so getting to know them better and gaining their trust was crucial to their success and seeing them in their element was a part of that. Lin folded the map neatly once more placing it in her back pack and got up to walk around a bit, so she could follow them and see what they were up to. Iris was careful to stay clear of the tall grass, observing Tobias who on the other hand seemed very relaxed about their little adventure, disappearing on and off into the taller grass, where Lin struggled to spot him to get at the best flowers.

It was indeed quite a splendid day out in Route 32. The sun was shining nice and brightly, but not so brightly as to be uncomfortable, and the plants were blossoming very nicely. The only issue was the humidity in the air, leaving it rather hotter than one might be used to. Of course, if one lived in, say, India then that'd hardly be a problem, but you probably don't. Anyway, it was hot and humid out by the time Lin found herself here and there were plenty of beautiful flowers for Tobias the Cutiefly to enjoy. The wildlife danced around in the heat, most of them seemingly enjoying themselves while the ones that weren't were keeping to the shade provided by the trees in the Route. Overall, the atmosphere was quite placid and beautiful. As Tobias drifted across the plants, he found himself having to navigate past a few Ledyba. The fellow Bug types weren't the kind to really sip on nectar, but it seemed that they were fond of the smell or something. Or perhaps they just fancied screwing with wild Cutiefly. Who can really tell? Either way, it wasn't long before Tobias misstepped and a Ledyba bumped into his rear. The ladybird turned toward Tobias and leered at him, buzzing furiously in Ledyba-ese at the Fairy type. How dare Tobias accidentally touch him! The Bug type raised a foot, shouting loudly as if to declare war. Its fellow Ledyba backed off, giving the two some space. It was looking like Lin would have perhaps a second or two to intervene if she wanted to keep Tobias out of this.
 A wild Ledyba (Level 9) is positively incensed for little reason! Will Lin fight or flee?

It was a swirl of colors, strange new tastes and of course new friends!
Dancing around on the ever so soft breeze with these new friends was everything Tobias could hope for and more. He could just feel them warming up to him, so clearly impressed by his unique style and the way he moved around them. Eager to impress, Tobias failed to notice one of the Ledyba till his rear bumped into it and what follow was all very confusing to Tobias, why be so upset over a little rear bump between friends?
Meanwhile Lin had been petting Iris petals, but hearing the angry buzzing coming from the grass, they both rushing to investigate. Arriving at the scene Lin was surprised to see the angry bug pokemon fussing over Tobias, who in turn seemed like he was getting huffy too. Hoping to find a solution or at least some answers, Lin pulled out her PokeDex holding it up in front of the Ledyba. “Ledyba, the Five Star Pokémon. They are timid and grow uneasy when not in a swarm with others of their kind. The pattern on their backs differs slightly from one to another.” Lin tilted her head as the mechanical voice died out. Well that was not very helpful, the swarm was right over there, so that could not be the reason for all this grieve.
Tobias noticed that Lin had showed up, Iris too, looking cautiously, out from behind Lin’s leg. He tried explaining himself by buzzing around Lin’s head in a fury confident that she would understand him perfectly. The tiny Cutieply was getting rather exited, now that it had figured out why it’s new friend wanted to fight so badly, it was a test of their new friendship and Tobias was ready for it. Once more Tobias looked from Lin to Ledyba and back again for instructions from his trainer.
Lin had to be careful trying to follow Tobias and figuring out what he wanted her to do about the situation, his fast and frantic movement was making her dizzy. She could also see the Ledyba was about ready to boil over, but she had to deal with her own pokemon first. Finally it dawned on her that Tobias wanted to battle too, something she would have figured him too gentle for. “Alright, if this is what you want to do, then I support that. Let’s soften it up with Stun Spore.”

Ledyba was still furious as Tobias got into a good position to strike. The two bug Pokemon refused to yield setting up what would certainly be an interesting battle. As angry as Ledyba was as the battle started it could not outpace Tobias who shocked the ladybug Pokemon with his speed. He moved from side to side as he approached his angered foe trying to trick it into thinking it would try and score a physical hit but as Ledyba braced for impact Tobias stopped right in front for just a moment. He began to brush himself off sending a paralyzing spore right into Ledybas face. As Ledyba breathed in the spores the effects almost immediately took hold. The ladybugs wings grew heavy and its body had gone numb as Ledyba tried desperately to clear its lungs. As hard as Ledyba tried the spore would not wear off anytime soon so there was no choice other than pressing on and hoping for the best. The bug somehow worked up enough strength to start up an attack of its own as Tobias tried to rest before the next round. A series of stars flew from Ledyba's mouth scoring a direct hit near his belly which spooked him more than anything else. Ledyba had gotten lucky this round by getting off an attack at all but Tobias was still very much in this fight. He still had paralyzed his foe and that could prove useful later on dispite his current disadvantage. Ledyba on the other hand was far from optimistic as the numbness was starting to drive it crazy. Things could go bad very quickly if it could not find a way to fight effectively in its crippled state. Lin gasped, how did she not have known that Tobias was so fast, watching him charging forward like that almost tricking her into thinking that he would disobey her order and attack instead. Luckily it was simply his speed and Lin made a mental note of it for future battles, it was their first battle as trainer and pokemon, it reminded her about how much she had learned in the resent battle against Falkner. “Good job, just don’t get too cocky…” It was too late Ledyba had retaliated despite their use of Stun Spore and Lin had to grab Iris to stop her from storming to Tobias defense, lifting the plant pokemon into her arms. “Easy girl, this is not your battle.” She whispered, stroking her leaves.
In the meantime Tobias had recovered from the hit and was flying circles around Ledyba taunting the bug pokemon not to hold anything back. “Time to use Fairy Wind.” She called out to him, feeling like that was their best chance of landing a solid hit. After checking with the PokeDex it confirmed what she suspected, that using a Bug or Grass type attack would have been less effective on this type of pokemon.

The ledyba's day had been going so well until this little fly came along. Perhaps it hadn't gotten so uppity about having been bumped into, but someone needed to teach these trainer pokémon some manners. Cutiefly was already in motion, zipping around with that soft fluttering buzz. The speed was but another mockery with the paralysis tickling the bug type's body. While Ledyba was having trouble keeping up with the yellow fly, Tobias had stopped behind it. Picking up the beat he whipped up a glittering wind, laced with an ethereal light the breeze rushed forth and slapped Ledyba in the back. The five star pokémon was thrown forward into the flowers; sputtering. With a huff the determined bug righted itself, a quick buzz of the elytra sending a plum of broken stem and loose blades into the air above it. Not a moment later, as Tobias reveled in his successful hit, a trail of stars shot up from the grasses and smacked the smug fly straight on. The cutiefly emitted a quiet squeak as the wind was knocked out of him, though was quick to shake off the hit. Ledyba returned to the sky with squinted eyes glaring down Tobias, one of its white gloved feet shaking a 'fist'. Whether it was the usual angry shake or just caused by spasms from the effects of paralysis could be debated. Wild Pokemon Battle

Tobias was startled by that last hit, all he ever wanted was to check on his new friend to see if it was okey after the wind had knocked it into the grass. To take advantage of his concern was a cheap shot indeed and Tobias did not hesitate to return the favor with another round of Fairy Wind, he too could play hardball.
On the sideline Lin watch Tobias fly in for a closer look and get hit, she had tried to warn him about this and now he was getting ready for another attack and she could only hope that he would be careful. This was new all new to her, normally her pokemon listened to her, but Tobias was getting catch up in the moment acting on his own.

The smug Ledyba buzzed in an agitated fashion, trying to communicate its frustration to its nearby flock. They were distracted, however, and didn't hear it. Sparks danced along its carapace, betraying its Paralyzed status. It took all the bug had to flutter its translucent wings, keeping afloat. The bug's wings twitched every other flutter, and it would bob, threatening to go to the ground. Its buzzing picked up angrily, and it began to sway from side to side.
The Ledyba had been relying on hearing the Cutiefly's trainer's order to determine what Tobias would do, so it was taken aback when the Bug-type attacked without an order, the wind whipping up, glowing a faint, sparkling pink color. The winds knocked the Bug-type out of the air, but it laboriously fluttered into the air, wings struggling against the paralysis. It focused, attempting to summon another Swift attack, but sparks danced along its shell again, canceling out the attack. It buzzed even louder, sounding almost like a hive of angry Beedrills, and swayed violently from side to side.

Normally Lin would be all about letting Tobias do his thing, truthfully she had never seen him act this confident and determinant before, but Lin wanted to capture this bug and just maybe those two could become friends one day. She had made up her mind, reaching with a free hand to grab a pokeball from her collection. “Enough Tobias, now let me capture it.” Ball in hand she stepped forward, took aim and let it fly.
Tobias was concerned now, he had been prepared to try and evade another swift attack, but it never came and frankly his new friend looked like it was about to fall apart. So when Lin stepped up he had no problem with stepping aside and allowing her to try capturing his worn down friend. Lin was a nice human, she would do right and get his little buddy to Nurse Joy.

Before the still slightly angry Ledyba could even try to fight through the paralysis or make another attack upon Tobias, the Cutiefly's trainer threw a Pokeball at the Ledyba, with an intent on catching it. The Pokeball seemed to suck the Ledyba into it as it fell onto the ground. It wiggled, a total of three times, and then stopped there for a moment. The time it took was enough to make anyone uncertain if the Pokemon would break out or not. But then the ting of the Pokeball could be heard, meaning that Lin had successfully captured the wild Ledyba. The Pokeball laid motionless in the grass, waiting for the trainer to claim her new Pokemon. At least being in the Pokeball meant that the Ledyba would not have to suffer being knocked out and meant it would be able to hopefully rest inside of the Pokeball for at least a little while after the fight, and the Ledyba was glad for that. It was very much needed rest after the battle it had just fought with Tobias.  Wiggle.
