Tyler had finally reached Goldenrod City and he could hardly wait to pay headquarters a visit. When he got to the secret location he saw a mission posted on the board mentioning that a man called Mr. Pokemon had an egg headquarters was intrested in with tabs attached tonit with contact information for intrested Team Rocket members who wanted to try and steal the egg from the man. Tyler took a tab before turning around to face his Pokemon. This first visit was not going to be a long one but at least they could finally pay the city a visit whenever they wanted. Before they left the city to try and find Mr. Pokemon he wanted to try and have at least one battle on route 34.
" I got a mission for us, it should be pretty simple but anything that helps us make headquarters happy is worth trying. Our mission is to steal an egg from some man named Mr. Pokemon and bring it back here. It looks like we were not the first Team Rocket member to grab a tab though so we might have some competition. Knocking off a weak member of the team will be fine by me. Before we set out however I want to try our luck on route 34 and see what Pokemon the city decides to throw at us." Tyler said as his Pokemon got ready to set out again. Poor Höllenhund never did get much of a chance to rest so Tyler recalled him to let him rest for a bit.
Mania and him then walked back onto route 34 heading for the tall grass to search for a Pokemon to battle. Having never been here before Tyler was not sure what might show up but he was confident that Mania could handle anything the city decided to throw at him. " Mania I have no idea what isngoing to come out and say hello but be ready for anything. We do not have any clue what Pokemon call thisnplace home between our headquarters, the breeding center, and all the other places a bunch of Pokemon might show up." Mania looked at Tyler and smiled ready to face whatever might choose to show up.
" I can handle anything in this area. After stopping that Gengar nothing in this area will scare me." They then waited hoping something good would show up so Mania could get more practice.
OOC: Waiting for an encounter on route 34.

Unfortunately for the menacing band of Rocket & Co. the weather was proving to be a deterrent for wild pokémon. Darkened clouds hung above and pelted the land with cold droplets that only seemed to harden the ground as Johto began to prepare for the coming winter. The moisture was well timed for the plant life, but not so much for those wishing to run into other inhabitants of the land. Every rattata and pidgey were safely tucked away in their nests, slumbering the day away until the rain broke and they could finish stacking their stores for the cold months. However, Tyler wasn't the only person to have ventured out into the rain. While the reasons differed the interaction when two trainer's eyes met was unchanged; under rain or snow it was always an unspoken code. And lucky for the battle thirsty group they managed to come across a young lady busily training one of her pokémon in the harsh weather conditions. Though, considering her choice of pokémon it was probably near equivalent to a spa for it. Long green dyed hair swished around when she took note of her shellder losing focus to something approaching. Her eyes locked onto Tyler, and she smiled. Wide grin sweeping across her face she raised a hand bearing a pokéball and gestured silently toward him. The rain crashing against the ground was rather loud, puddles building up at this point due to Goldenrod's previous month of rather wet weather too. Despite the lack of voice it was clear what she wanted though. The woman had a confident determined gaze as her Shellder bounced forward to stand between her and Tyler. Ace Trainer Kate has challenged Tyler to a battle! She sent out her Shellder (LV 23). Select a pokémon

The freezing cold rain may have been a setback for most trainers but for Tyler it was rather fitting after his adventures in Ilex. The appearance of a young lady was unexpected given the weather however he was rather glad to see a trainer instead of a wild Pokemon. A number of his Pokemon had not seen much action in Ilex and a battle against a trainer would be a good chance to raise one of the weaker Pokemon on his team. As she sent out a Shellder Tyler was rather impressed as the weather made for a good boost for a water type such as itself making it a bit more challenging foe then the spirits he had faced recently.
" Huh so a water type in this rain? Not a bad choice I must say, even if having a weather advantage does not guarantee victory it should make this battle more interesting than the recent ones I have been in." Tyler said as he thought about which of his own Pokemon to use. Most of his Pokemon would not struggle too much with a Shellder but one in particular had a type advantage as well as being a tiny bit faster and the experience it could gain from this battle would be a huge help. Knowing that Blitz made the most sense to use in this situation he decided to five the Magnemite first dibs in this battle as he tossed out it's Pokeball in front of him. The tiny magnet Pokemon appeared in a flash ready to take on it's foe.
Tyler had no doubts that Shellder could do some real damage in this rain as Blitz did not have a very high special defense but it did have a type advantage and he hoped that would be enough to overcome the unfavorable weather. " Blitz do not underestimate our foe, in this weather things will not be very easy for you. Your type helps offset the weather advantage Shellder has but this will still be a close battle." Having just left the Team Rocket Headquarters he did not want to flaunt his affiliation too much to the trainer as she seemed like the type who who report him if she found out. As much as he hated trying to fit in this case he had no choice other than to do so for now.
With his attention focused entirely on the battle at hand he gave Blitz an attack order. " Blitz use Thundershock on Shellder." He said hoping the shock would give him the upper hand.
OOC: Tyler sends out Blitz. Blitz uses Thundershock.

Vs. Ace Trainer Kate With the steady downpour unlikely to ease up anytime soon, this erstwhile silent battle would be an interesting one. Neither side really knew what moves would be called, though Kate was confident she and her Shellder had a strong enough bond to give their opponents a good battle. The ace trainer, however, couldn't hide the flicker of unease as Tyler released his Magnemite. She'd spent enough time training in and around the city to recognize what Blitz was, and knew what risk he posed not only to her Shellder but the other Pokemon she had in reserve. Nevertheless, she wouldn't let Tyler see how daunting he'd made this battle and raised a hand up, lips parting to call an order that was stifled by the rain before it could reach Tyler's ears.
Her Shellder hopped forwards, eyes narrowing as if concentrating deeply. Blitz was a bit quicker to the figurative punch, magnets whirling rapidly at the Magnemite's sides in order to generate electricity. Pointing the magnets at Shellder, Blitz directed the built-up shock in a small bolt to fly towards it straight and true. Uttering a sharp squeal that was loud enough to pierce through the rain, Shellder wriggled about in agony before toppling onto its side, tongue lolling limply on the ground. Kate's expression was resigned as she returned her fainted partner, an assessing look thrown Tyler's way. Clipping the ball to her belt, she grabbed the second one and lifted it up, indicating she wasn't done with this battle just yet.
A quick toss of the ball revealed a large Cloyster, splashing loudly as it landed before Kate and grinned impishly at Tyler and his Pokemon. It, too, seemed to enjoy the rain, opening its shell just a tiny bit to enjoy the weather. Kate lifted her hands and made a gesture, hoping to convey to Tyler that this was her last Pokemon, and that he could switch out if he wanted to. It was hard going, but there wasn't much Kate could do about the inclement weather making conversation otherwise impossible, even as she smiled indulgently at her Cloyster's unhidden glee to be out in it.
Trainer Battle
Kate's Shellder | Level 23 Health: 0% (0/53 HP) Status: ... ; --Fainted Shellder fainted!
VS Weather: Rain
Tyler's Blitz | Level 25 Health: 100% (55/55 HP) Status: Not so rusty after all; Normal Blitz used a successful ThunderShock!
Blitz fought well and gained +1150 EXP! Gained +1 Happiness.
Kate is sending out her Cloyster (Level 26)! Will Tyler switch Pokemon?

Tyler was rather surprised to see Shellder go down so easily as Blitz still needed a lot more training before it would gain a great attack but he was please nonetheless. As he thought about his strategy for the next round he was really surprised to see Kate send out a Cloyster as her next Pokemon. After how easily her first Pokemon was knocked out he did not believe she would send out another water type. It was really tempting to keep Blitz out as it could cause a huge amount of damage but in this case he wanted to end the battle as soon as he could so he could get started on his mission.
" Not a bad choice I must say, though I cannot stop thinking about how easy your Shellder was to defeat. Either it was weaker than I had anticipated or Blitz is stronger then I believed. Either way it is good that you are not giving up yet as I am just getting started." Tyler did not want to take any unnecessary risks in the next round and he had the perfect Pokemon to finish the job. Mania stepped forward without even relying on her illusion powers as she did not think they would be needed in this battle.
As she extended her claws she quickly took notice of just how strong the shell on Cloyster appeared and knew a different tactic was needed to bring down this foe. As much as she loved using her claws to solve problems but she had a few other equally powerful ways to defeat her foes. " This Cloyster might be hard to beat if I use my usual methods but I wonder how it will fare against my dark aura?" She said as her palms started to glow pitch black as an evil aura surrounded them. If her plan worked this battle should be over in no time.
" My Fark Pulse has not been used as much as I would like but this seems like the perfect time to give it another trial run. It has to be better then trying to scratch that steel like shell that thing has." With her attack being ready she was ready to give it her all. Tyler did not even have to say a word as she fired the large black beam at the water type Pokemon. If her judgement call was right he would owe her big time for ending this battle quickly.
OOC: Using the free swap in to send out Mania. Mania uses Dark Pulse.

Kate passed the dark looking man a confident grin, the rain matting her hair down her face; though she didn't bother trying to swipe the long bangs behind her ears. If anything the trail of her locks helped keep a lot of the moisture on paths away from her eyes. The cloyster was simply enjoying the water pounding down, a static veil ringing along the landscape as the two trainers prepared for their next exchange. Admittedly she was a bit worried for even her cloyster going up against an electric type, her precious pokémon's obvious weakness. It was a shame the man talked of strength and weakness when he was clearly taking advantage of exactly that. If he'd sent out a fire or rock type she pondered whether he'd talk so tough. All her thoughts dissolved however when Tyler recalled the magnemite for another of his pokémon. What emerged in the steel type's place was something she wasn't familiar with, brows scrunching with contemplation. Mayhaps this would be less of a slaughter as this strange werewolf looking pokémon didn't appear to be the kind to have a type advantage over her cloyster. But Kate was about to find out typing wasn't the only thing that mattered, for Mania had another way to overcome that thick outer shell. In addition to a simple strength advantage. Mania didn't even have to move. Both she and the opposing water type set in place as they built their attacks in a mutual standoff. The zoroark spread her arms and focused her aura before her, a ring of darkness forming in a shape contained by her muzzle and both hands. Cloyster looked to be gaining something of the opposite end of the spectrum, but before it had any chance to form it into anything useful Mania unleashed her Dark Pulse. A tunnel of crackling dark energy rushed forward and slammed into the cloyster, rolling the spiny pokémon backwards with such force it went straight back into a near tree with a resounding bang. The tree snapped, branches dropping their water reservoirs as bark crackled and bent. Kate held a hand over her mouth, utterly shocked by what she'd just witnessed. A mixed look of concern and horror overtook her as she watched the tree fall and her Cloyster remain unmoving against the remaining trunk. Her head spun back around to the brutal trainer that was her opponent. She brought a money clip of bills from her pocket and tossed it neatly to the man before rushing off to care for her pokémon. Mania gained 1300 EXP and grew to LV 33!
Ace Trainer Kate tossed Tyler £1,680 for winning!

As Mania won the battle with almost no effort at all Tyler figured it was time to go and do the mission he had found at the Headquarters to try and pass some time until something better came up. The mission may have been intended for newer rocket members but Tyler did not care at all as any prize that was easy to get was worthwhile in his book. It would be a long trip back to Cherrygrove but at least now he could finally come to Goldenrod whenever he liked without needing to fight through the Ilex Forest again.
" Good job Mania it looks like we are done here for now. This may have been a short visit but when the time comes we will be spending far more time here as we get things ready. For now we have that mission in Cherrygrove to attend to. I hope we can get it done quickly as I am not expecting the payout to be that big but it is an easy mission and it should help a bit towards impressing the higher ups. After we get done there I am sure we can find something else to keep us busy." He said as Mania looked at him. Having faced an army of the undead an easy mission sounded heavenly about now and she could hardly wait to get started.
" After facing all those ghost types stealing an egg sounds fun about now. I just hope there is no surprises to deal with as those ghosts were enough of a hassle for one lifetime." As she retracted her claws Tyler looked at his map trying to find the exact ;location of the mans house to make things as easy as possible and in no time at all he saw a note mentioning that he lived just a short distance away from the entrance to the Dark Cave. He had plans to visit the area and it might make a good hideout out his theft was complete.
" If there are no objections let's get going. It will take us a while to get back to Cherrygrove but the sooner we get there the sooner we will be able to check out the Dark Cave and see if anything worthwhile can be found there." He then started to walk back towards the entrance to the Ilex Forest dreading the long walk ahead but knowing it would be worth his efforts in the long run.
