As Kevin and his team reached the outskirts of New Bark Town he had a simple goal in mind to train the weaker members of his team so they could pull their wwight in the next gym. Freyja was at the top of his list as she would have a very hard time being useful until she evolved into a Sylveon. Having raised three Lucarios in his lifetime he had no doubts that he could raise a Sylveon next though he knew it would be a time consuming affair. If they were as mighty as he heard a Sylveon would be worth it's weight in gold.
Freyja looked at Kevin as he went to pick her up and carry her over to the tall grass with a rather sad pair of eyes really not liking the idea of battling but as it was the only way he would not seperate her from Oracle she reluctantly agreed to fight whatever came by to keep Kevin happy. " Freyja now that we got our little side quest out of the way your training is the top priority until you evolve so I hope you are ready to battle quite a few foes. It will be tough but I promise you the effort will be worth it in the end." He said as the young Eevee tilted her ears tying to detect any incoming Pokemon or trainers.
Though both Smanahta and Oracle could have helped her locate a target they both decided to see if the young Pokemon could do it on her own without help as she would have to learn to do so anyway and they could always jump in if the battle got too rough for her. As they patiently waited to see if anything would show up the young Eevee heard a noise somewhere off in the distance and readied herself for battle as she firmly planted her four paws in the dirt and held her tail up high. Had she not had such a cute face her pose might have been intimidating though it was still a serious enough pose that anything that came her way would know she would not back down.
As the noise grew closer Kevin did not want her to make any costly mistakes so he had the young Eevee hold her ground until they knew what they would be up against. " Freyja stand you ground and wait, we do not want you fighting anything too powerful and I would rather be safe than sorry."

Freyja's ears wriggled as she searched around the area. For a moment she had closed her eyes so that she could focus down on hearing but quickly realized what a bad idea that was. Instead her ears flipped this way and that as she took careful steps around for any promising noises that would signal an encounter. There was the odd flap of wing and cricket of bug but... she didn't want to fight any of those. Call it jitters, but she wanted to try her first fight against something she didn't have to jump to get or wind up with web all stuck to her fur. No matter her reasons for not pursuing any of those sounds there was a value in tracking specific kinds of targets. So even if she wasn't fully aware of the value of such a skill it was something to practice nonetheless. And sure enough, her efforts paid off. Those big perky ears picked up on the faint patter of four feet, the rustle of grass blades coming up soon after. Getting antsy the eevee alerted her companions and gave indication of the wild pokémon nearby. That, of course, caused the wild pokémon to pick up on their location. A curled purple tail shot up among the tall grass before the figure darting toward the group. A mistake on its part really. If it had known the full scale of what had wandered into its little slice of route 29 it may have been smart enough to turn tail and run away. Instead, the brave little rattata burst through the grass with a frightening natter. Frightening to Freyja anyway. She yelped and hopped back a little as the purple rat took up an offensive position. Its eyes scanned all the others around, feeling a little insecure about its decision as shown by the bristling of its back hair.  A Rattata (LV 5) was found! Shiny Check: cNclBiFJ1-421-42 |

As Freyja regained her composure Kevin began to wonder if he should give the young Eevee a bit more time before trying to train her. He knew she had some level of bravery deep inside her she was definitely not able to bring it out enough just yet. " Freyja I know you are young but the only way you can overcome your fear is to face it head on." Kevin said as the young Eevee slowly walked towards the Rattata trying to keep her col the best she could. She might not have an intimidating appearance but she thought she had to be smarter than the rat Pokémon staring her down. She was filled with anxiety as she watched the rat trying to find any advantages over it that she could while waiting for Kevin to give her orders.
" I can sense that Freyja is very nervous right now, I cannot blame her as she does not have much experience but hopefully the experience of this battle helps her become a bit more calm." As Oracle continued to monitor Freyja's aura Samantha was just interested in seeing a good battle from the sidelines for a change. Her anger at the monks in the Sprout Tower was still lingering in the back of her mind and she knew if she faced this Rattata there would be nothing left of it by the time she got finished. " This rat is lucky I am not facing it, I feel like beating something to a pulp about now to blow off some steam. Freyja give it a whopping for me." As the two canines finished adding their input Kevin looked over at the rat and grinned as he imagined the sight of Samantha obliterating it.
As tempting as that was however he had to focus on the task at hand as Freyja really needed a confidence booster and this battle might just do the trick. " Freyja I know you can do this, you might not be strong now but getting stronger all begins with your first step. Take advantage of your adaptability and use Tackle on that Rattata. I want to see you give it everything you have." Hearing her orders the young Eevee ran towards the rat using her claws to get a better grip on the ground hoping that it would allow her to take advantage of her weight to maximize the effectiveness of her attack.
Ooc: Freyja uses Tackle. Here is hoping her Adaptability ability comes in handy.

Freyja was the first one to set off, padding across the ground toward the smaller rat. The purple critter stayed where it was, hissing at the incoming eevee. One thing she was about to learn was even though she was facing off against something undoubtedly weaker than herself, that didn't mean she'd get to go first. When Rattata had neglected to skitter away she thought she'd have an easy target. But as she neared the opposing normal type darted swiftly off to the side, a blur against the grass, then came back just as quickly straight into Freyja's side. She was caught completely off guard. The rodent managed to scratch Freyja on her softer belly as it bashed into her. It wasn't as devastating as it could have been with a more formidable opponent, but it was still a mistake that had cost her. In return, Freyja skid to a halt, spun around, and tackled into Rattata. Her bulk barrelling into the smaller frame just by itself was enough to knock the wind out of Rattata's sails. The rodent rolled along the ground a couple times before it slowly got back on all fours. Its legs trembled, but it still had a lot of go left. Battle

The first round had not been the greatest for Freyja but it did seem that her ability did still make up for some of her lack of training. Even after taking a critical hit she still managed to slightly out damage her opponent which at least proved to Kevin that she had some level of potential. He was glad that her mistake did not occur against a stronger opponent but it would still hopefully serve as a nice learning experience in the future. " Well that was at least not the worst display I have seen from a young Eevee and I give you credit for rebounding as quickly as you did though you still need to work on your attention to detail."
Samantha and Oracle were a bit less picky but they were still worried that such a simple mistake could prove costly down the line. " That critical hit had me worried for a moment but since your opponent was so young it appears it was not too costly of an error, still we might need to help you train more to prevent another error like that." Samantha quickly chimed in with a remark of her own mostly aimed at the Rattata. " It figures the only way a rat like that would stand a chance in a battle is to be sneaky. Freyja please pay better attention before it gets the jump on you again."
With both Pokémon watching from the sidelines along with Kevin, Freyja was as determined as ever to win this battle to prove herself as worried as she still was. Thanks to her decent bulk she knew that first mistake was not going to hurt her chances of winning too much but a second one could put her in a dangerous spot. " Freyja it looks like you are ready to go another round, be more careful this round as I do not want to see you lose to a Rattata of all things. Use Tackle again while taking advantage of your Adaptability, it was a huge help the first time." Freyja dug her claws into the dirt again and looked right at her foe, it might have gotten the jump on her last time but she was going to do everything she could to prevent it from happening again. Once she had the rat Pokémon lined up she rushed forward ready to use every ounce of her energy to bring it down.

Once more, Freya started forward toward her rodent opponent, closing the distance between them as fast as her little legs would carry her. Rattata simply glared at the furball as she bounded over to it, legs bending slowly so as to assume an offensive stance. Kevin's Eevee kept her gaze fixed on the purple rat, recalling the last attack quite clearly and refusing to be suckered in a second time. However, as she got closer still, it appeared that Rattata was planning something else this time. Before it could reveal its move of choice, though, Freya's fluff-ridden body collided with it to send it sprawling across the floor. This time, the Normal type failed to recover.
Congratulations! Rattata is KOd!  Freya gained 2 levels, reaching Level 8! +1 Happy Point (up to +3)! |

After scoring a second hit on the Rattata, Freyja finally emerged victorious. It did not all go quite as well as she had planned but she could feel herself growing stronger. She was still the weakest Pokemon on Kevin's team but every little bit helped. Before she could celebrate however Oracle got a scent of something strange in the distance and started running after it with everyone else trying their best to catch up. As they came across another patch of grass a Pokemon egg with no owner in sight was lying on the ground and Oracle picked it up being quite curious as to why an egg was in such an odd place.
" That was not a great place for an egg at all, it is a good thing we found it when we did." To her surprise the egg began to move around just as she finished speaking before a series of cracks appeared at the top. The top then popped off as a baby Sneasel popped it's head out wondering what was happening. " Well I'll be, a baby Sneasel, that is quite a rare Pokemon in these parts. Since no one is around to claim it and there is no way for someone to prove they own it I say we bring it along with us." Samantha was not exactly a huge fan of taking on another young member with Freyja still needing to train but her opinion changed when the Sneasel jumped out of Oracles arms and summoned a giant icicle out of thin air.
The young Pokemon sent it flying into a nearby tree and Samantha was speechless as Kevin began to chuckle. Not only had he found a rare Pokemon it happen to know a very rare move as well. " My, my, my that was Icicle Crash. I have not seen a Pokemon use that in a long time and Sneasel can only learn it as an egg move making this little gal quite a find. I am going to call you Eiskalt as you can already master such a powerful move and you do not seem to have any problem with attacking things on a whim. Now that we have settled that matter it is time for Freyja to continue her training." The young Eevee was still tried from just trying to keep up with the group but was going to try her best anyways.
" Freyja be ready for anything. That Icicle Crash must have gained the attention of some nearby Pokemon."

The crack of ice shattering against the tree sent a shiver through the wood. Each tree from closest to furthers seemed to rustle its leaves at the mark left behind on their brethren. The wind hissed as a gentle breeze whisked by the small group. Or... After another moment the spurt of noise from the wilds took a different turn. It wasn't the bustle of natural weather and the forest. No. From above a cover of green leaves burst apart to reveal an agitated bird. Spikey looking feathers and brown in color, the fierce little thing cawed its name for the world to hear. Spearow ruffled up even further as it hovered to get a good look at the culprits to the disturbance. It glared down at them, huffing another call before dive bombing Kevin and company. Or at least that's what it would have liked to do. Kevin himself held an intimidating aura, but Samantha standing sentry dissuaded the Spearow from following all the way through with its aggressive gesture. The bird broke from its dive just above Kevin's height then circled around in a flurry of feathers. It stopped just in front of the newborn Sneasel and little Freyja, pegging them as the weaklings of the group; and likely the only thing it could exact its fury upon.  A Spearow (LV 6) appeared! Samantha's quick thinking had been a huge help as she managed to buy Kevin a bit of time to decide what to do. As tempting as it was to give the newborn Sneasel a chance this Spearow was just a bit too strong leaving Freyja as the only option. If she could defeat this Spearow it would be a nice boost towards her training being completed and it might boost her confidence more as well. The only thing Kevin wished was that she knew something stronger than Tackle but thanks to her ability she could at least get by for now and as such he ordered her to be ready for the coming battle.
" Freyja I would like you to battle again, your last battle was not too bad but this Spearow should be a real test. They are known for being a real hot head as evidenced by it's reaction to Eiskalt's Icicle Crash so this ought to be quite an entertaining match." As the young Eevee stepped forward the intimidating bird did not really help her nerves but she was not about to back down after her last victory. She was going to try her best to win this battle no matter how scary her foe was to prove to herself that her previous victory was not a one off.
Oracle was the most worried out of the group as she studied the Spearow's Aura, as she could sense it had been in a few battles and was a step up fromsome of the other Pokemon found on the route. " Though it pales in comparison to my experience, this Spearow is not a pushover for the area. I could take it down no problem but please be careful Freyja." Samantha on the other hand continued to grow more bored by the second as she had not had a chance to battle since the Sprout Tower and wanted to get back into the action far faster than Freyja's training would allow. " Please do not take forever Freyja, I might die of boredom waiting. My flames want to burn more idiots to a crisp and I cannot do so while you are still training."
Having wasted enough time as it was and wanting to try and keep Samantha entertained until her could battle with her more Kevin gave Freyja the order to attack. " Before Samantha loses her mind use Tackle on that Spearow Freyja and make sure you take advantage of your ability while doing so."

The Spearow was hit hard by the attack. It reered back, but came forwards with a mighty peck toward the eevee. No way would this bird let a brown fluffball beat it- that would be embarassing to all of it's pack. The Bird reered back, waiting for the girl and her eevees next move- pride at stake. Damn this spearow got hit hard- somewhere up there, the pack leader was laughing at it and it knew it and this somehow made the spearow madder. It hated looking like a fool. This trainer and her eevee would run crying home to their mother if the spearow could help it. Battle

Kevin was rather amused by the Spearow's poor efforts. Freyja had done far more damage than he thought she would do to the poor bird and despite his hopes that it would be a nice challenge for her it had instead become a lopsided match. He popped his neck and knuckles as he looked at the bird feeling no pity at all. " What a pity this battle is turning out to be. Freyja we might have to train somewhere else at this rate since I do not think anything here will give you much of a challenge anymore." As he pondered over his travel plans Oracle began to speak to try and lighten the mood a bit.
" I am disappointed myself as it's Aura seemed so strong but I guess all the heart in the world cannot always make up for a lack of experience. Still Freyja can still gain something out of this battle. Getting through it quick should help out fiery friend keep her cool too since her lust for battling is growing by the minute." Samantha did not even try and deny it as she watched the Spearow's wanting to burn it to a crisp with her Flamethrower leaving no trace of its existence. She only held herself back knowing that her patience would be rewarded in due time and the seeing Freyja evolve would be worth the wait. Still she could not help but to run her mouth again trying to get the bird to really regret picking a fight.
" Be glad I still have not jumped into the Frey little pest, Freyja might be doing alright but you would be Spearow- soup by now if I were facing you. I might just turn you into soup after Freyja is done with you anyway as you do look rather tasty, just add a few carrots, garlic, and twigs for good measure and you would make quite a meal." As weird as her taste in soup was it made Kevin grow a bit hungry and as he knew the kind of damage a hungry Braixen could do he was not going to delay ending this battle as soon as he could. He looked right at Freyja and made it clear that she was to end the battle with her next strike. " Freyja I want you to put an end to this battle before Samantha has a chance to do it for us. Use Tackle one more time and do not give that rat with wings any quarter."
OOC: Freyja uses Tackle once again activating her Adaptability ability.

The Spearow wa shit ata hard rate and a crit was scored. The Spearow was no match for the eevee, and was easilly knocked out. The lead spearow was cawing at her mockingly, and the spearow seemed irrate at it's leader. It had just lost and the elader was laughign at it? She'd like to see that spearow fight this eevee, and then see if he was still laughing. The Spearow let out a loud- "STOP LAUGHING AT ME DINGBAT1 YOU MAY BE HOARDE LEADER BUT YOUR A JERK!" Yep this spearow was talking back to its leader. The Spearow recoevred from her temporary feint and flew away, no longer wanting to deal with this boy and his Beast of an Eevee. She had had more then enough.

The appearance of yet another Spearow did not surprise Kevin at all as his team was proving to be quite a magnet for the species lately. As annoying as they could be they did make for easy prey for Freyja which is exactly what she needed. It would not be too much longer before they would be entirely useless for training her but the one who decided to challenge her next would be a nice boost for her if she could win again. Without Kevin even saying a word the young Eevee walked towards her foe as she started to get the hang of things. Her confidence had grown quite a bit by now even if she was still not as brave as Samantha or Oracle.
" Well look at that Freyja is already in position for another battle, she might just become a warrior yet at this rate. If only we could get you to be as brave as the other two ladies we would be in business." Oracle nodded while Samantha just kept to herself going even more insane that she could not battle again. Oracle at least had to say something encouraging as she knew Samantha would never say a word in her current mood. " Keep up the good work Freyja, I can sense your powers growing a little more after every battle. Give it your all in this battle." The young Eevee turned back and smiled wanting to impress Kevin and Oracle again even if it meant Samantha would not respect her for the time being.
As Freyja got ready to attack she already had her plan in motion to keep using her ability to her advantage until she evolved as her ability had yet to let her down. Her claws dug into the dirt to gain a near perfect grip as she lined herself up with the Spearow like she had with the previous one ready to charge. She then waited for Kevin's order to attack so this next battle could finally get underway. Seeing her ready to go Kevin chuckled before give her his orders. " I know by now you already know what to do but I am glad to see you wait for orders like a good little soldier. Same as before use Tackle with your Adaptability ability and show that winged rat a thing or two about the might of a well trained Eevee." Without any further hesitation Freyja charged forward holding nothing back as she approached her target.
