"Oh wow, so it's gonna be Riolu after all huh? This'll be a blast!" Mikey's eyes gleamed with excitement as the canine stepped forward into the fray. The boy's smile was wider than ever as he stood there, practically shaking with anticipation for the battle. Readjusting his cap slightly, the boy braced himself for the contest. Vör was the first to move, her muscles fresh and her movements crisp from all the watching on the sidelines. Leaping forward at high pace, the Fighting type planted a headbutt square into Rattata's forehead, leaving the latter flinching a little from the sheer force of the attack. Naturally, the blow did little to dampen Mikey's spirits. In fact, he seemed even more stoked than before. "So it's a Quick Attack, huh? Gotta admit, I was kinda scared you'd take us out with some kinda Fighting move," the kid responded frankly. His grin said that all and more though. He was pleased to be getting a chance to see more of March's little partner. "Anyway, let's do the same, Rattata! Quick Attack, go!" came the excited command from Mikey, and Rattata was perfectly ready for it. Racing forward, the Normal type delivered an attack identical to the last, slamming its cranium into Vör's midriff. The Riolu gasped, the metaphorical wind having been knocked out of her. Staggering back, she took a moment to regain her usual composure. The battle was young, but the pair of Pokémon seemed fairly even. Somehow. VS. Youngster Mikey
Mikey's Rattata | Level 5 HP: 68% (13/19 HP) Status: Normal Rattata used Quick Attack! VS
March's Vör | Level 7 HP: 75% (18/24 HP) Status: Normal Vör used Quick Attack also!

Vör had tried her best but the first round was nothing short of a disappointment. He knew Quick Attack was a weak move for Riolu but he expected it to do a bit more than what it did. " So that was a bit weaker than I had anticipated, do not worry though Vör, you are getting a little bit stronger every day." As he offered his encouragement he had no idea how he should procede as Vör was struggling against a Rattata. He hated the very idea of switching her out for something stronger however no better idea came into his head and he did not want to see her get hurt too badly. He sighed before ordering the young Riolu back to his side.
" I hate to do this to you even with my encouragement but for now I need you to take a break and let Shocker take over for a while." As soon as Shocker heard its name it floated over to the Riolu and jumped in front of her ready to battle the Rattata in her place. The Magneton was far stronger than she was at the moment and had no doubts that it could handle the rodent without any issues. Vör was a bit displeased that she could not finish the battle she had started but after the poor results of the first round she knew she was not ready yet. Shocker then waited for the Rattata to take advantage of the free turn as Marchbaby spoke to Mikey hoping to pass the time.
" I am sure it must be a bit of a disappointment seeing me have to switch out Vör already but as Riolu are not know for their endurance I must do so for her well being. As per the rules you get a free attack of course but it is worrh the sacrifice to keep her health high in case she is able to help again in this battle." After waiting for Mikey to use his free turn Marchbaby then gave Shocker the order to attack to try and make up for his poor opening performance. " Shocker let's make up some list ground here, use Thunderbolt on Rattata and maybe that will put us back on track." Shocker then fired a large bolt of electricity towards the rat Pokemon holding nothing back as even it was embarrassed by the poor display so far. Both March and it knew a dragon tamer apprentice should never struggle against a youngster even with a younger Pokemon.

Mikey was not expecting a switch out of this magnitude. His Rattata turned to him with a look that said "do you really expect me to beat that?!" It was clear that they were in for a world of ownage. However, this Youngster would not take failure without a fight. "We won't go down that easy," he said, clearly still intimidated, "Rattata, use Quick Attack." The rodent foe rolled his eyes and prepared to attack, fully expecting a retaliation that would leave him in incredible pain. Indeed, even though his attack hit first, the barely phased Magneton struck his enemy down with a Thunderbolt. This left the Rattata chared and crispy before he finally flopped to the ground with little Tweety Birds floating about his head.[ Shocker gained 250 exp (total exp: 521/2977) and +1 happiness (+11 total) Vor gained 1 LV (now LV 8) and +1 happiness (+8 total) All Mikey could do was simply applaud the show of strength. After a few seconds, he remembered he had another Pokémon to send out. "Oh yeah," he said, sending out his tiny Pidgey next, "guess it's Pidgey' turn." Pidgey's up against the wall Will you switch out your Pokémon?

Vör's limited ability to battle really tugged at Marchbaby as Mikey sent out his next Pokemon. As much as he wanted to just attack it and end the match Vör had other plans as she jumped in front of the Magneton wanting to battle again and as much as he admired her spirit he knew Vör did not stand a chance against a Pidgey. " Vör as much as I would love to give you another go a Pidgey is a bit out of your league for now. I sm going to have to swap you back out for Shocker. Once you evolve we will be able to try and have you battle again." As the Riolu rejoined his side Shocker once again took its place on the battlefield.
This battle had been a disaster as far as seeing if Vör was ready to hold her own yet but it did give him a chance to raise Shocker s bit again. The steel type Pokemon was a little behind Bonecrusher in training and catching it up to the Lairon was far from his worst idea even if it costed him a turn. " It looks like I have to give you another free turn since Vör used one of mine. With that issue settled though I will be using Shocker again." As they waited for Mikey to make a move Marchbaby could hardly wait to end this disaster of a battle and get back to raising Vör until she was able to evolve. Alpha could even sense that its master was upset by the number of errors in this battle and tried to cheer up the team. " It is true this battle could have gone better but it is a learning experience. We are still winning as well so it could be going much worse."
Vör stood silently as Marchbaby thought about how to prevent so many mistakes in the future but at the same time he was glad this battle was almost over. He popped his knuckles as he looked over at Mikey ready to have Shocker bring this nightmare to an end. " There is a lot of things for me to work on but winning this battle is a start. Shocker I want you to use Thunderbolt and do not hold back. We have made way too many mistakes as it is. Another one will only make our day eorse."
OOC: Uding the free switch in to send out Vör, then using a turn to swap her out with Shocker who uses Thunderbolt.

"Yes!" The Youngster jumped in the air, a hand to his hat with the other a fist to the sky. Vör wasn't the only one easily excitable, eager to show their stuff. Unfortunately for Mikey neither him nor the young jackal was going to get the opportunity. "But... We don't even..." the youngster's hopes dashed he desperately scraped for some reason the more impressive trainer would keep the rare pokémon out to battle. Pidgey didn't even have a flying attack, so there wouldn't be any type advantage. But the thoughts were quickly wiped clean from his mind as he forced himself to resume a more positive position. "Nevermind, we can do this!" Youngster Mikey looked to March with a broad smile. "This time I got a plan that might turn this in our favor."
"C'mon Pidgey, we gotta even out the power difference. Quick! Sand Attack the magneton before it gets a chance to target you," the boy instructed. He clapped his hands in anticipation as his little bird set off to kick up a bunch of sand in a couple of Shocker's lower sets of eyes. The electric type groaned angrily, having absolutely no way to get such particles out of his optics being that it had no hands. It still had one perfectly fine eye though, and that was all Shocker needed. With a glow of static charge a spark of lightning trickled between a set of the large magnets in preparation for the attack. Pidgey shivered uncomfortably. "Don't worry Pidgey. Make yourself a harder target by moving around. Go for a Tackle!" Sadly the battle would be over in the next few seconds. A bright flash blinded the pair, and a deafening crack pounded through the area half a beat later. After a few blinks to clear his vision Mikey would see his little bird out cold and twitching with a bit of a sizzle smoking from his feathers. Mikey gaped at the scene, mouth open with a low grumble of awe rolling off his tongue. "Wow... Wow!" the boy exclaimed; completely at a loss for words. He recalled his bird and stepped forward. "Even though I didn't really get to see your riolu fight, you're still amazing sir! I'm going to have to train even harder. Maybe one day we'll meet again! Next time I'll be tougher," he laughed, holding out a bit of pocket money to honor March's victory. He then wished him good luck on his travels and ran off to the nearest Poké Center. VICTORY!
Shocker gained 250XP and +1 Happiness! (+12) Vör grew to LV 9 and gained +1 Happiness (+9 total)

The Sand Attack was a bit unexpected but Marchbaby was relieved to see Shocker was still able to hit Pidgey with Thunderbolt bringing an end to the battle. Vör did not get to play much of a roll but she had grown a bit stronger and she was one step closer to evolving. After leaving Mikey he decided to keep looking in the tall grass for Pokemon as Vör was still not strong enough to move on yet. " Well I can say I am glad we won that battle but we do need to keep training. That battle could have been a disaster if we would have been facing a stronger opponent."
The humid weather meant that finding Pokemon would be pretty easy but finding something Vör stood a chance against was a lot harder as most of the Pokemon would still give her a hard time even after all the training she had done and with no other option but to stay where he was the group had to hope for dome good luck as they searched the tall grass. " This is going to take a bit longer than I had thought but I will not give up as hard as it will be to raise Vör. The moment she evolves it will make all this effort meaningful. Alpha then heard a noise off in the distance and alerted everyone while Vör stood still hoping that whatever it was would be something she could finally handle.
" Master, I have located another potential target, this grass is messing up my sensors so all I can tell from the data is that whatever it is it is a living thing. If only I were stronger I might be able to tell you more even with the interference, alas I can at least battle whatever it is so that Vör can learn from the encounter." Not wanting to miss a chance at witnessing another battle up close Vör stood out in front of where Alpha was reading the life form waiting to switch with the metallic creature as soon as the unidentified creature showed itself. " Good job picking up on whatever it is Alpha, the time will come when you will get even stronger. Vör as soon as it pops out swap with Alpha who can use Bullet Punch to bring down whatever it is." He said as the two Pokemon got ready to make their move.
OOC: Vör is sent out and swapped with Alpha who uses Bullet Punch on whatever comes out.

The grass continued rustling. Louder and louder as whatever it was crawled its way closer. It wasn't very fast, whatever it was. A good indicator that it wasn't an angry rattata, and spearows didn't tend to hop about on the ground through such thick grass; they'd prefer to fly. So what could it be then? A sentret perhaps? Though those guys tended to scout their paths carefully and this wild pokémon was still heading straight into the high powered party. Soon it would show itself. The last wall of grass separating March and it broke away to reveal a striking red body, long and curling like a caterpillar slowly shuffling its way closer. It was a wurmple. A very young one at that. The tiny thing didn't look threatening at all, even with the minuscule stingers. Wurmple looked up in wonder at the group of legendary things around it; it had no idea what it had just walked into. Before it could blink a second time March's instructions were carried out. Vör confused the baby wurmple by stepping forward to draw its attention, and then rapidly flying back to make way for the iron fist. Wurmple didn't even see the metang's speeding bullet. It didn't really feel it either. One moment it was watching the deep blue jackal step away and then everything was black. Its limp body was thrown back into the bushes from whence it came; lost to the wilds. VICTORY!

As the Wurmple fell in defeat Alpha was rather discouraged by its low level. Even going by the areas selection of Pokemon it was on the weak end, the good news for both it and Vor gained a bit of experience from the battle and if just a few more went their way they would be able to move on to an area with stronger Pokemon. " If my calculations are correct we are currently two thirds of the way towards Vor evolving. If we use the two Birthday Cakes we have after the next three battles she should be strong enough and bonded enough with you to evolve." Marchbaby smiled at that thought as the young Riolu had been trying so hard and the work was about to pay off.
" That is excellent news, I do hope you are correct there Alpha as Vor sure has been trying her hardest to evolve. She will be a great member of the team when we get ready to face the next gym leader and on top of that her Aura powers will be very useful for keeping track of my brother. Goodness knows where he is now but Mania will not stand a chance against a well trained Lucario." He said as Vor looked at them both just wondering what in the world they would get into as soon as she evolved. Bonecrusher on the other hand was trying to locate anything he could to improve his armor even further and did not pay any attention to the rest of the group when he heard a noise coming from the tall grass nearby.
" Laaaaaiiiiirrrrrrooooonnnnn" He said to draw the rest of the group over to his position as well as to try and summon whatever was in the grass out so they could battle it. Vor walked in front of the grass just waiting for whatever it was to come out and battle so she could do her now famous swap. " I am ready to swap with you as soon as we know what is hiding in the grass Vor. I just hope it is a little stronger than the Wurmple we just defeated." Alpha said as the grass started to shake violently. " Before whatever it is jumps out we are going with the same plan we went with before, Vor stay where you are and swap with Alpha so it can use Bullet Punch the moment our visitor shows itself."
OOC: Vor is sent out and swapped for Alpha who uses Bullet Punch on whatever comes out.

The grass thrashed about before Marchbaby and his crew, only growing more violent as each millisecond passed by. Again, this creature appeared to be on the slow side. Was it another Wurmple, perhaps? The moving patch of grass was bigger, though, so maybe not. Before long, something emerged from the tall grass. A thick, yellow hand parted the grass to reveal a peculiar, lethargic-looking monster. The long-snouted animal snorted, glaring at Marchbaby's Riolu in a manner that seemed to say 'get out of my way'. It didn't appear to be in the mood for games. However, before Drowzee could make a move, the Fighting type was promptly replaced by Alpha. No matter, thought Drowzee, the result would be the same. How wrong it was. It toddled forward to slap its new opponent upside the face, but Marchbaby's Metang seemed entirely unfazed by the hit. And within seconds, Alpha had returned the compliment with a swift Bullet Punch to the abdomen. Drowzee's unconscious body rolled back in the direction it had come from, once more hidden by the grass that had alerted March to its location.
Knock Out!Alpha gained a nice, round 200 EXP! Vor gained a level (now Level 11) and 1 Happiness (up to +11)! She may learn Feint. Should she?

The Drowzee that came out of the grass made Marchbaby sigh for a moment as they were a swarming species currently and it would have been easier to capture it here than in Goldenrod but it was too late to stop Alpha from making its move sending the Drowzee back into the grass in a single punch. It was a bit of a shame but so long as Alpha and Vör got some experience from the battle it was at least worth his time. " Shoot Drowzee would have been a good one to capture but we can find another one after Vör evolves. She only needs a few more battles not if Alpha's calculations are on the mark." He said as the robotic Pokemon floated around looking for something else to punch.
" At this rate Vör will evolve in no time at all so long as we do not run into the absolute weakest Pokemon living here. Had I known a Drowzee was going to pop out there I would have held back but even with that bit of unfortunate news we are getting so close to our goal. We just need to keep finding Pokemon for me to punch until Vör gets enough strength to evolve." Alpha said as Vör's ears perked up upon hearing another Pokemon in the grass. Marchbaby knew as soon as he ears went up that Vör was going to get into another battle and he was glad to see so many Pokemon heading their way as it made his job of raising her so much easier. Vör stood at the edge of the grass as the rustling got closer waiting for whatever it was to jump out and battle her just as the Drowzee had.
" Alpha stick to the plan, use Bullet Punch on whatever jumps out after you swap out with Vör" Vör was still a bit peeved that she could not battle on her own yet but as she was only a few battles away and she knew straying from the plan could end in disaster so she agreed yet again to remain the bait until she finally evolved. Alpha on the other hand was very pleased to be getting into so many battles lately so it could get that much closer to evolving itself. " Alright who is next? I will take down anything that approaches to help Vör grow stronger and hone my own skills."
OOC: Vör is sent out and then replaced with Alpha who uses Bullet Punch on whatever spawns next. Keeping her current moves.

There was quite an abundance of activity along route 29 today, lucky for March and Vör. They could hardly catch a breath before something else was bumbling its way into their path, and it seemed another unfortunate pokémon was about to follow suit. The grass was aflutter with something zipping around in a weird pattern. It was probably sleuthing for something, but as the wild pokémon continued it eventually broke through the veil of grass and came before the blue jackal just raring to go. Rattata could smell it instantly. Vör was just itching to dance and strut her stuff. The rodent was more than willing to take up that challenge. It's purple fur stood on end as it hissed and spread its stance. Tail up in the air and head to the ground the wild pokémon charged. Sadly for it, even despite its quick attack Alpha was already intercepting. Vör jumped back as if bait on a hook while Rattata slammed against the solid steel arm of the metang. Needless to say the rodent was more than dazed just from that. What followed was shooting fish in a barrel. Before Rattata knew it the poor thing was flying through the air, body numb from a flurry of hits, and back into the bushes from whence it came. VICTORY!

Vör was really starting to get too strong for the Pokemon in the area by now and though she was so close to evolving she still needed one more strong opponent before she could finally unlock her true power. Marchbaby really struggled with the decision to move on for a while as there were still Pokemon in the area she could face that would be strong enough to gain the one level Vör needed but after thinking long and hard about it he knew it was time to move on to make sure her next foe would be strong enough.
" This sure is a tough one as I know for a fact stronger Pokemon do live here but I do not want to waste any time on a pointless battle. With that in mind I think we should head to Cherrygrove so you can encounter a strong enough Pokemon to evolve Vör." He said as the young Riolu grew rather excited by the news. There were some Pokemon Marchbaby was after in Cherrygrove anyway so the news was far from awful and even Alpha agreed knowing that the Pokemon there were a little bit stronger.
" That does sound like a good idea. A lot of Pokemon call that city home so I am sure we can find one to spar with long enough for Vör to evolve. A few rare Pokemon also live there so we might just be able to come a little closer to completing the Pokedex as well killing two birds with one stone as they say." The Metang grew excited at the thought of leaving New Bark Town after it spoke as it wanted to fight stronger opponents anyway and the Pokemon in Cherrygrove were a bit stronger even if they were not ideal for its own training.
Having made up their minds Marchbaby gave the group the order to head out hoping this trip would lead Vör to evolve quickly so they could be one step closer to challenging the Goldenrod Gym. " Ok guys we are heading to Cherrygrove now. It will only be a short walk from here but keep your eyes for for rare Pokemon while we are there. The last time I was there I left before I could capture any of them." He said as they made their way to Cherrygrove with Vör taking the lead hoping a tough opponent would be waiting for her there.
OOC: Ending this thread and moving on to Cherrygrove.
