Ray was glad these monsters didn't seem bleed when hit in that giant eye thing. That would have really made him squeamish. Nonetheless, this battle was unwarranted and the least he could do was not knock the little guy out. Pulling out a Nest Ball at random, Ray threw it at the Monster.
"Wait for it," he said to Scout, warning him not to attack until the process seemed to fail, "1... 2..."

A tear welled at the corner of its single eye, the wild Unown blinked heavily to try and get rid of the moisture. That bite had stung quite a bit, and the ancient letter wasn't yet done repaying the rocky hound for such an affront. After a hard long blink it was finally able to rid the watery blur from its vision. Just in time to see a nest ball flying toward it. It only had time to gasp before the device smacked into it and sucked it inside. Even before the special pokéball hit the ground it seemed to shudder in place, hovering for half a second before it plummeted to the ruined floor. The resounding clatter of the two hard materials meeting echoed through the chamber... and that was it. There was no resistance. The nest ball instantly clicked to signify it had locked the wild pokémon inside without even a lazy lob to oppose it. VICTORY!

Ray was glad to see the little Monster accepted his mercy. Picking up the Nest Ball, he noticed the moon's light shining out of what appeared to be some kind of crevice in wall to his right. It appeared that Ray and Compant had been in this ancient land for quite awhile. However, Ray found this mysterious crack interesting. It appeared to go pretty far down. No way he'd be able to get down there without hurting himself. Fortunately, a hint of how to get down there lay just above the crack itself. The day had whipped by. What was once illuminated by sun prickling through the decayed walls and open panels of the ruins of Alph now had silvery light wading in with the fading orange hue of dusk. While most young trainers would take that as a sign to pack it in for the day, Ray took it as an opportunity to continue exploring. How could he not? Especially after his eyes caught a glimpse of the square hole nested in the wall nearby. But that wasn't the interesting part about said hole, for if that was the end of the observations it'd be no more special than any of the other blotches that time had blemished the stone walls with. There was something else there. Inspecting the section of wall further Ray would find his dark adjusted pupils picking up on deliberate markings. Hieroglyphs it seemed, and they appeared in the shapes similar to that of some of the creatures he had just faced and captured. A clue perhaps, as each of the Unown he'd encountered today made it well known that they were imitating a letter of the common alphabet. The hole, barely large enough for the average young adult to wriggle through, went into a pitch of black. The trail of moonlight seeping in from another crack in the walls higher above only helped veil the drop so it was impossible to tell what was down there; if anything at all. It was too dangerous to try to climb barehanded, and there was no telling how far down it went. Perhaps the hieroglyphs held a clue about this deliberate hole they sat above?

Ray gazed upon these ancient runes of the Monster language and noticed something interesting. The letters appeared to spell out a word that looked eerily similar to the word English word escape. Then, it dawned on him. An escape rope would easily get him down that hole and into whatever adventure lie within. Fortunately, the clever trainer had brought an escape rope before entering the Ruins.
"Everyone," he said, calling out to the Pokémon that were currently out and about, "we're going down. I need you in your pokeballs for a moment."
As everyone retreated in their spherical homes, Tails.EXE shook his head from within his.
"This is a bad idea," he told Ray telepathically.
However, Ray could barely hear Tails.EXE because an even louder voice in his head was saying "IT'S ADVENTURE TIME!!!"

As Ray used the escape rope to go down the hole and exited a small tunnel at the bottom he came into a clearing surrounded by high walls on all sides. The alter at the center was covered in tall grass and the cries of a few Pokemon could be heard as he approached the alter followed by the sound of rustling grass a few seconds later. From the grass a small electric type feline known as Shinx stretched out before him before meowing in an attempt to get his attention. Very few people ever made their way to the clearing even on a nice day such as this and the small cat was looking for something to battle besides the few other species who called this area home. As it waited to see what Ray would do next the Shinx started to build up an electric charge so it could be ready whenever the battle started and to also overcome it's cute looks that might make a trainer hold back out of pity as it sure did not look like a very strong Pokemon. Before the battle could begin the cries of other Pokemon could be heard again in the tall grass likely from Pokemon who wanted to watch the battle since a battle like this was a special sight and none of them wanted to miss it. A wild Spinx (Level 12) challenges you to a battle. Please select a Pokemon.

After reaching the hidden moonlit grove, Ray and company took a moment to check their surroundings. When the Shinx appeared before them, Ray was truly dumbfounded. To him, this and any Pokémon found in this secluded area must be the results of evolution upon the Monsters that resided in the Ruins. It was clear they wanted a fight, so Ray obliged.
"Lucky Rabbit," he said, calling out his Alolan Sandshrew, "let's show this noob what a TRUE Pokémon can do. Hit him with Ice Ball."
Tails.EXE still found all this underground monsters stuff nonsense and he made it clear by sarcastically coughing "it is a true Pokémon. There is no Underground, you complete and utter idiot".
Ray looked down at Tails.EXE's pokeball, hearing the coughed up insult telepathically.
"Alergies," the Abra said to excuse his sarcasm.

Shinx may not have seen many humans in its time but it knew that Sandshrew was going to try and make a move at any moment. Being the smart and adorable little feline that it was it thought the best course of action was to use its cuteness to its advantage. Before Lucky Rabbit could launch his attack Shinx looked over at him with the most adorable eyes he had ever seen. The mere glimpse of which cause him to let his guard down and hold back on his attack somewhat not thinking the kitten could do that much harm at all. Even its cuteness could not totally prevent the forthcoming attack however as Lucky Rabbit tossed a small ball of ice right into the electric types chest. The adorable look on its face rurned into one of pure sadness as it realized its plan had not totally worked out. Shinx did at least reduce the damage it suffered by thinking ahead instead of charging straight into battle but the small kitten was at a disadvantage currently since it did not pick the more aggressive option to start out with. The clear skies overhead at least allowed it to use its fantastic vision to keep track of its foe. There was no way Lucky Rabbit was going to get out of its gaze after causing it so much pain. As the two Pokemon waited for the next round Shinx shook off the remaining ice from its chest while crouching on the ground waiting to strike. It would be out for revenge in this round. Battle Weather: Clear Shinx | LV 12 HP: 80% (29/36) Status: Normal Used Baby Doll Eyes! VS

Ray was impressed by this missing link between monsters and Pokémon, but knew that Lucky Rabbit had more than a few Special tricks up his sleeve.
"Pay no attention to his cuteness, Lucky Rabbit," he said, "remember your training and use Powder Snow upon this mysterious Shinx."
Hopefully, with a little bit of luck and a heap of snow, this creature would be ripe for capturing. If not, then Ray hoped there were more Pokémon to link to this land built by humans and inhabited by monsters. Tails.EXE read Ray's mind and simply rolled his eyes, knowing full well that no monsters but f the Poké variety inhabited these ruins.
"What can I do?" He telepathically said to Sora Hood the Chingling, "I've known him since before I took this body."
Sora Hood raised an eyebrow, unsure what the freshly evolved Kadabra was referring to and simply replied with a shrug of his ribbon shoulders.

Trying to obey Ray's order Lucky Rabbit turned into a ball like shape but unfortunately he was not able to change moves as his natural instinct overtook him. Instead of only tossing a ball of ice he started to roll towards Shinx this time hoping to get the first attack in but the cat Pokemon was still faster. Shinx even realized how dangerous he was becoming and ran at full speed to deliver a full bodied Tackle hoping to knock Lucky Rabbit out of his ball like state. This proved a disastrous choice however as he bounced off of a nearby wall before speeding towards the cat Pokemon. Shinx was fast but not anywhere near fast enough to avoid the crazy ice type headed right for it. Lucky Rabbit ran right into Shinx's chest again causing considerable damage despite Lucky Rabbit's lowered attack leaving the cat in a vulnerable state. Lucky Rabbit was traveling around the battlefield at a very high velocity now and Shinx could barely keep up with his movements. Lucky Rabbit might of been trapped as a sphere for the time being but that did not mean that he was the one in danger as the Shinx started to breath heavily. Given the lack of attacking options the cat Pokemon had it needed to try and weaken Lucky Rabbit even more or hope he would miss his next attack if there was to be any hope of winning this battle now. Battle Weather: Clear Shinx | LV 12 HP: 47% (17/36) Status: Normal Used Tackle! VS
Ray' Lucky Rabbit | LV 11 | Snow Cloak HP: 91% (32/35) Status: Normal, Attack -1 Lucky Rabbit used Ice Ball (Round 2/5)OOC: Noting that Ice Ball cannot be swapped with another move unless it misses, 5 turns pass or Lucky Rabbit is switched out. Its power also doubles every turn that it hits so the next round it will have 120 base power.

Ray could tell the Shinx was almost out for the count. Now that he had a gun badge, it was now or never to catch this miracle of evolution. Time to break out a classic. Grabbing a Great Ball from his pack, Ray nodded his head and gave the Shinx a friendly smirk.
"In the words of your human descendants," he said, popping his collar and throwing the ball in a dramatic manner, "Get... Dunked.... On!!!!"

The creatures in the cave were certainly some of the most rare in these parts. Shinx was not expecting this ice-covered Sandshrew to be so powerful! It wasn't really expecting an ice type Sandshrew at all actually, it had seem some before but they were yellow and ground type. The dog Pokemon readied itself for another attack. Suddenly, the Sandshrew threw out a ball of ice so massive, it impaled the Shinx against the rocky wall behind it. Too weak to move from such a massive attack, the Pokemon fainted from exhaustion.
Lucky Rabbit gained 3 levels and is now level 14! Lucky gained 1 happiness! Lucky Rabbit wants to learn Metal Claw!
