Ororo had made it out of the Ilex Forest, a venture that seemed to take years rather than a matter of hours. Polipop continued walking with her even after their wild ride inside the forest had ended. They both enjoyed each other’s presence, plus what if a wild Pokemon were to leap out of nowhere? It was better to keep Polipop out, just in case. Ororo surveyed the area and suddenly a light snow fall began to cascade from the sky. “What do you think of this Poli?” She asked. He stuck out his hand and watched as the little flakes absorbed in his hand. He shrugged, ambivalent towards the crystals.
They appeared to be on Route 34. Ororo pondered what Pokemon could appear in this area. “I wonder what creatures we could run into Poli.” She said. He shrugged, he wasn’t from this area. Ororo wasn’t really sure where he was from really, due to him being a trade from some random trainer she met in the beginning of her journey. “Probably best to do a bit of training, right? We don’t want to get rusty.” She said, observing the route. Polipop agreed, excited by the thought of getting more experience. ((202 words to incubator. Waiting for an encounter on route 34.))

With the winding forest of Ilex behind them, the shining city of Goldenrod stood before them. The vast plains that welcomed them was an excellent area to train in, however, so it was best to get a little sunshine before retiring to the City. They'd escaped in record time, so why not stretch their legs? The Wild Pokemon after Ilex were used to weary travellers, so it was a bit of a shock to see a trainer and her Pokemon in such good spirits. Polipop was a rare sight, so it took some time before a Pokemon showed it's face. Polipop and Ororo had travelled a few minutes completely unscathed. That was just... unacceptable. Seviper narrowed it's eyes and watched as the pair walked past the tall grasses. Where were all the other wild Pokemon? Seviper was sure one of them would spring out and surprise them, but nothing did. Fine. Never send a lesser 'mon to do Seviper's job. Slinking through the grasses around Ororo, Seviper let it's tail slip out of the grass to flash in front of the travelling pair. It wanted to create some tension and fear before their battle. After all, what better way to strike than on an unbalanced Pokemon? When Seviper was sure that Ororo and Polipop were 'scared,' it burst forth in front of them on the path, hissing and showing it's fangs. How would they react? Surely in terror, for Seviper was the scariest thing on the route. It had fangs and everything. Surely they would flee in terror at it's might. Wild Seviper (lv. 16) is looking for a victim! Will you Fight or Flee?

Ororo had been playing with her Pokedex, catching up on some of the Pokemon she had seen/captured and reading their description more in depth when Polipop stopped her. “What is it?” She asked her water type friend. She saw a sharp tail pop out of the grass. “Was that a Seviper?” She wasn’t too familiar with the Pokemon, but being from Hoenn, she was well aware that is was an apex predator. Polipop was in a stance signifying he was ready for battle, but the novice researcher thought of a different idea.
“I think I’m going to use Susperia for this one.” She said. Polipop looked at her, surprised that she would use an amateur party member for such a daunting Pokemon. She knew that the Seviper was getting close, so she had to act quick. “Slowpoke, come on out!” The pink Pokemon seemed unbothered by the threat of a Pokemon coming up from the bushes to attack. Polipop watched nervously, waiting for the snake Pokemon to launch towards his little pink friend. “Use your confusion attack on the snake!” She watched as the snake came out to attack. Ororo was planning on catching this rare sight, she would find some use for this venomous creature. ((Using Susperia the slowpoke and her confusion attack! 206 words to the incubator.))

Seviper had made it's presence known, granted it thought it was going to be fighting Polipop. It was an evolved Pokemon, which meant it was strong. Seviper wanted to fight strong Pokemon! When Ororo sent out the dopey, pink Pokemon in front of her, Seviper hissed angrily before exchanging glances with Polipop. It was supposed to be fighting the blue one! Frustrated, Seviper slammed it's tail on the ground in a show of aggression and discontent before snapping it's jaws shut with an audible 'click.' Fair enough. It would take down the pink one to fight the blue one. It ran this place, and if Seviper beat it then the rest of the Pokemon would have no choice but to balk to Seviper. It was time. Seviper began to slither forward, slowly, as if savoring the moment. As soon as it realized that the Slowpoke was that indeed - incredibly slow, Seviper decided to have a little fun. It's tail was the main source of it's fighting, but this time Seviper decided it was going to make this more painful. All because Ororo was wrong. This silly pink thing was not worthy of fighting Seviper! Venom dripped from it's fangs as it slithered, letting it sizzle on the ground with each drop. As soon as it was close, Seviper struck with a hard biting Venoshock, causing the Slowpoke a decent bit of pain. However, instead of crying out in agony like Seviper wished, Susperia simply turned her head to look at the snake before yawning, as if bored. This infuriated the snake who chomped down harder. Susperia began to glow blue before opening her eyes after a large yawn. They shone with psychic power and immediately the snake began to writhe in pain. What WAS this?! When the Confusion attack was over, Seviper slithered back to the other side of the battlefield, eyeing all three opponents with malice. The stare down happening between Seviper and Polipop was certainly intense. Polipop clenched its fists as Seviper glared down the evolved Pokemon. “Yeah I know you want to protect Susperia because you’re evolved, but she’s got some psychic moves up her sleeve. Although she looks inexperienced her hidden power could surprise you.” Polipop was so frustrated that he couldn’t wipe that smug look off that snake’s fast, but that’s just how battling goes. “You can’t fight every Pokemon you meet. Sometimes other members need to get out and show their stuff to. Usually you’re so friendly I’m surprised you’re letting this snake get under your skin.”
Of course Seviper was the faster Pokemon, you can’t spell Slowpoke without slow. Polipop watched Susperia as she battled, having quite the threshold for pain it would seem. Her inner focus was unmatched by anyone on the team, perhaps that’s why she was so quiet? Polipop continued watching the battle in awe as Slowpoke fought the snake through the powers of the mind, utilizing her special attacks the best way she knew how. “Alright use your confusion again!” Ororo said, the researcher in training got out a great ball to use after the Seviper was weakened by this next attack she would throw out the ball, this snake was certainly good at controlling the battlefield. It could make a great teammate for her smol water Pokemon or perhaps a good gift for someone back home or the professor. ((Using Confusion again and then tossing a great ball! The unpleasant mental sensation provoked by the dopey pink softy only brought further rage for the blackened snake. It's tail sliced through a swath of the snow covered grass churning up more of the white powder. Each cool flake falling from the sky felt like a pin prick with how heated up the seviper was; only bringing its anger to new heights as it glared at the insult yawning before it. With a hiss the wild pokémon raised itself upward, blood red eyes still locked onto Susperia with intense malice. The poison type opened up its jaws, but instead of a lunging bite with those dagger-like fangs a terrible shrieking sound rang out for all to hear. Susperia shuddered as the noise zoned in on her location, the screech shaking her right down to her stable foundations. It left a chill beyond that of the falling snow causing her to moan in discomfort. The sound came off as half a sigh; a disrespectful sigh in the ears of the seviper. The serpent drooped back down and lashed its tail on the ground once again, glancing at Polipop as if to say he was next. But that was a mistake. In the momentary distraction the slowpoke finally got off her attack: another mind wrenching whirl of pain and color. Ororo took advantage of the situation. The seviper was stationary beyond the slight writhing on the spot which made it an easy target for her capture device. The ball whizzed through the air and lobbed one of the snake's coils, swiftly sucking it up inside and latching closed. The Great Ball plopped into the building snow, it's button alight as it wriggled and writhed with seviper inside. It barely got off one shake before a crack signaled its failure. Seviper burst forth, hissing with renewed fury and a crazed look. It wasn't done yet! It couldn't let this disgraceful pink blob be its final opponent; it wasn't worthy. With a flash the black and gold shape slithered its way up to Susperia, darting just to the side when it'd made it to the slowpoke. With a lightning lash the sharp tail sliced across Susperia glowing with a sickly purple color; poison dripping from the tip. The blow was hard. The force rolled the stout slowpoke back a ways but it was perhaps that push that saved Susperia from any of the poison really getting a good foothold as most of the invasive solution merely glanced off. Ororo was surprised at how well her little pink Poke’ was doing in the midst of battle with such a formidable trainer. The thick snow on the ground was definitely not helping battle, Ororo could feel her feet getting chilly even through her boots. “Jeeez, this Seviper really does not want to be captured.” She said to Polipop who nodded like usual. It seemed like a trait of this particular Pokemon to not want to be tamed by the likes of a trainer, so the battle that decided its capture seemed really important to it. Many Sevipers were renowned as very cruel and nasty Pokemon, but perhaps through training and bonding the snake Pokemon would warm up (no pun intended.)
As the young researcher watched the poison Pokemon carefully she got out another ball. This one was different however as it would definitely have a higher catch rate than the previous great ball, a classic for trainers around their 3-5 badges. “Jeeez I should’ve thought of this sooner.” She said, Polipop looked at the ball but made no reaction as he didn’t really understand the difference between one metallic sphere to the next, plus Ororo had so many of them it was hard to keep track. She stared at the Seviper, somewhat scared of what it might due. Ororo had never encountered a beast like this nasty little punk, so she was careful of its aggression towards humans and other Pokemon. “Go, nest ball!” She chucked the ball much harder than the last, typically she didn’t catch wild Pokemon but rather researched where to find sellers or going to the trade markets so this was a completely different feeling. She watched in anticipation as the ball captured Seviper and fell to the ground. Polipop too was nervous but Susperia was indifferent. Jeeeez, she thought, this Slowpoke has no concern of anything. The slowpoke merely blinked with mild confusion at the raging Seviper, barely a flicker of concern rising in the wake of such a writhing beast. The snake hissed viciously, flailing its bladed tail through the light tufts of snow and slicing across the frozen ground underneath. The poison type's head was spinning, it didn't quite know exactly where its foes were but it knew they existed; and they were mocking it. If Ororo wasn't fast there was a good possibility that Seviper was going to end up hurting itself. Luckily she had another ball ready to go, deftly acquiring a second ball to toss and hopefully capture the angry viper. The green toned device slapped against the dark scales and sucked the wild pokémon inside. There was a harsh lash of resistance once the nest ball hit the ground, the spherical object carrying its way through the light snow a few inches. The ball shuddered, but instead of the crack sounding the snake's escape the ball clicked victoriously! VICTORY!

Ororo was quite pleased with her catch, the mighty snake Pokemon was feared by many locals due to its insidious nature. “Although it’s not a water type Pokemon, this snake is definitely intriguing. I think I’ll keep her around to study for a while.” Susperia didn’t seem to have any strong stance either way. Ororo was keen on evolving this little pink Pokemon into one specific form, but she wanted to keep it secret for the moment.
“Hm… where to next?” Ororo had remembered that there was a fishing rod in her bag that could use some tender love and care. Furthermore, as a specialist in the aquatic areas in Johto, she should probably continue her exploration. “Alright you Slowpoke, I’m going to return you to your ball for now. But don’t worry, you’ll have some more action soon enough.” Back into the ball the pink Pokemon went, as Ororo walked to the nearest pond. Out she pulled the old rod, casting it out into the open water. Out came the pink Pokemon again, ready to battle. “Okay Susperia, use your confusion attack, assuming we catch anything.” With great anticipation the two waited. Even in the wet area that Ororo and her Pokemon companions happened to be fishing, the dust storm that struck Goldenrod continued on right through. The high-speed dust began to fly all around them as Ororo's old rod sat in the water. It was a very old rod, no where near the best, but was definitely still capable of pulling in some weaker Water-type Pokemon. Perhaps more likely with some bait to draw in Pokemon, however. The Old Rod sat there for a few moments before hitting something at the bottom. Somehow, Ororo's rod managed to latch onto it. It wasn't extremely heavy for a fish, but wasn't the lightest by any means either. The dust made it hard for Ororo to see in the water, even if it was clearer water for fishing. There was no way to tell what kind of Pokemon Ororo's rod had found. Upon reeling the fish in, however, it would be revealed to be no fish. It was a pearl, not too large and not too small either. Definitely not a fish Pokemon. Perhaps it was someone's long lost treasure?
Wow! A Pearl was fished up.

Ororo reeled in her pole to find a pearl. “What? Interesting.” She knew that this was deemed incredibly valuable to some, but to her it was kind of junk. She did own a Clamperl, a Pokemon which normally carried a pearl. “I was kind of hoping for a Pokemon, but maybe I can trade this in for some cash. Researchers need money too, right?" She asked her right hand, Polipop. The two had been together for some time now. “Maybe we should go back to training. If we want to challenge this next gym, we’d better get to work!” Poli nodded affirming. He wanted to get stronger as well, but he also knew the rest of the team wasn’t as experienced as he was.
She hadn’t noticed, but the sun had went down in the time she was walking around the area. “Jeeez, it’s already nighttime? Time flies when you’re aimlessly searching for something to happen.” She said, feeling like she hadn’t gotten anything done today. “Maybe we should go out and search for some Pokemon to battle. There could be some special Pokemon that only come out during the night time. Let’s begin.” The two wondered around, wondering what or who they might find at this hour. (( 208 words to incubators. Ororo wouldn't have to go far for an encounter. From the near bushes something had been watching, waiting, hungry. It had spotted the water user a while ago with her fishing rod. A grumble in its tummy it figured it might as well wait for the trainer to do some work for it, then run in and snatch her catch before she knew what was going on and take off with an easy snack. Sadly its plan didn't really work out all that well, as Ororo didn't manage to catch anything at all. The rotund fluff ball of a rat was famished at this point. With the trainer's failure to soothe the gurgle of pain in its stomach it felt she was responsible for its discomfort, and there was only one way to settle something like that. With a bellow of its name the evolved pokémon burst forth from the foliage and right onto Ororo's path. A mist had formed up along the route while Ororo had been fishing, making the form of their newest opponent in a light haze. Nostrils flared and a mean look about it, Raticate nattered angrily before giving Polipop a ravenous glance that cut through the mist. Maybe it could get away with one of her pokémon instead. Doubtful. It'd just have to settle for a little bit of payback. A Raticate (LV 16) appeared! Select a pokémon for battleWeather = MistShineh? FINt0UI61-421-42

“Oh, yikes.” The Raticate had startled Ororo a bit, she never liked the giant rat. Its yellow buck teeth looked smelly and gross, never would she attempt to capture such a common and course creature. “Alright Staryu, I choose you.” She had always found Staryu to be one of the strongest water types, known for its versatile movepool, great special stats, and impeccable speed. “I’ll need you to take this rat out to the curb. I’m looking for Pokemon I can’t find on every street corner.” Ororo has seen countless Rattatas and Raticates throughout her journey, they were about as common as clouds in the sky.
“Alright Staryu, use your bubblebeam.” The star shaped Pokemon hurled out a stream of bubbles at the normal type as told. “Better make that two bubblebeams, just in case.” Ororo said, not impressed at all by this wild Pokemon’s appearance. “This is what I get for straying away from the water." She couldn’t have been more disappointed in the presence of the Pokemon. She crossed her fingers, hoping the rat wouldn’t survive the onslaught of water power. She didn’t plan on sticking around for much longer to catch this thing, so she hoped to get this done with.

Before the giant rat could make another natter the staryu was sending out a whirl of forceful bubbles. They hit their mark without any problem, each one slapping violently against Raticate's whiskers. The wild pokémon was used to being one of the fastest things around, having such a fish out of water best it in that regard was nothing less than a surprise. Once the onslaught was finished the normal type sputtered as it took in air. Whipping its head back and forth to rid itself of some of the collected water Raticate chomped its big buckteeth down and set off. Slinking through the grass the massive rodent whisked its way over to the hardened starfish pokémon and managed to wrap its enlarged teeth upon it. Androgony gave little response, further aggravating the rat. But before it could have another go the water type blasted it with another round of bubble beam. Being in such close range the sheer power of the bubbles blasted Raticate back into the bushes from whence it came. VICTORY!
Androgony grew to LV 22 and +1 Happiness! (+1) It would like to learn Camouflage; forget an old move?

“What an excellent display of power, Staryu. Your dedication to battling is certainly remarkable.” Ororo always knew that she could count on the little star to demolish the competition. Suddenly, the Pokemon became transparent, blending into the surrounding environment. “What an interesting move. Your adaptability to your surroundings makes you quite the unique Pokemon.” Camouflage was an incredibly unique move, known by very few Pokemon. “You did some good work, let’s continue looking around the area for some battles to level up. I think the next gym battle will be one of the toughest ones yet, so we’d best get going on the grind if we want to make it to Ecruteak.”
Ororo decided to go to a different area in the same route, but along the way, the clouds overhead began to sprinkle mist upon Ororo and her Staryu. “I swear the weather in this region changes constantly.” Staryu didn’t emote much, but it seemed to nod in agreement. It bathed in the cool water droplets, seemingly healing any scuffs. ((171 words to incubator. Waiting for encounter~))
