As they walked through the quiet alleyways of Cherrygrove the weather half answered Samantha's wishes. The droplets diminished to just runoff streaming from the roofs and splashing onto the concrete below. It was quite the ambience compared to the hum of the occasional vehicle that passed close by. The sky brightened a little but it was far from the nice sunny day the fox had wished for. Soft grey clouds loomed over the city yet. After the cool fall rain the continued lack of sunlight made the splatter of moisture even more chilling as time went on. Oracle would have a solution to that though. Leading the rest of the group to their next encounter a battle was imminent. That would warm everyone up. As they turned a corner the sudden flash of a purple pipe lashed out from about shoulder height. Against anyone else the tactic may have been a surprise, but with her tuned aura reading abilities Oracle was able to bait the aggressive greeting into a harmless fling. Instead of getting a surprise bite the ekans just launched itself from its perch and onto the ground among the rest of Kevin's group; a dangerous place for it to say the least. The snake hissed threateningly, rattling its tail and making a quick sweep over the group to try and judge which one it should try to take on first. Though, that choice ultimately wouldn't be the wild pokémon's. Ekans (LV 8) slithered in! Shiny: XYuLG_Nh1-421-42

Kevin was very glad to have Oracle on his side as her quick thinking had prevented what could have been a very nasty surprise. Kevin was quite aware of the damage a bite from Ekans could do to him or most of the Pokemon on his tesm but Eiskalt in particular was vulnerable due to her young age. As much as Kevin wanted her to stay back however the rattling sound of the snakes tail along with its hiss were too much for the weasel to avoid as she approached the snake ready to strike. One good look at the snake however from Kevin made him realize this one might just be a bit too tough for her as he quickly called on Samantha to come to the rescue again.
" That girl really has no quit in her, had this Ekans been a bit younger I might let Eiskalt try but it is still a bit too risky. I hate to ask you again Samantha but could you go save our little friend again? She is going to owe you big time once she gets stronger with all your rescues so far." Even in the less than favorable weather the vixen wasted no time jumping in front of the weasel ready to take the snake down. " Owe me is an understatement, she is going to be my servant at this rate. As for our little snake pest here I think my Psychic attack will be the most useful move again at least until the weather finally gives me a break." While Samantha was building up her power to strike Oracle watched the snake very closely fearing it would still try to get sneaky despite its first attempt being a complete failure.
" I do not trust this Ekans one bit, it tried to be sneaky once and I am willing to bet it will try to be sneaky again. Be careful out there Samantha." With Oracle's warning being quite clear Kevin did not have anything to add outside of officially ordering Samantha to attack right after a short pause. " Samantha just as you planned use Psychic on Ekans and do not hold back. Using such sneaky tactics on a civilian could end very badly for everyone but Ekans so we need to teach this snake a little lesson in honor." Samantha then waited for just the right moment to strike.
OOC: Eiskalt is sent out and replaced by Samantha, Samantha uses Psychic.

At first, the wild Ekans was excited to battle Eiskalt. It was easy for the snake Pokémon to see that the Dark/Ice type was still fresh from her egg, and would therefore make an easy target for it. Even without trainers, some wild Pokémon still did everything they could to grow stronger on their own. That was this Ekans' motivation for picking a fight with Kevin and his team in the first place, as it continued to hiss at them, and rattle it's tail as loud as it could. "Ekanssssss!" Taking full advantage of Eiskalt's low level, Ekans lunged forward, attempting to land it's first attack against the weasel Pokémon. However, the Poison type was very surprised when Samantha moved out in front of Eiskalt, taking the hit herself. Never the less, Ekans refused to give up, and coiled it's body around Samantha's, giving her it's best Wrap attack. Ekans squeezed Samantha as hard as it could, using all of it's strength, refusing to give up, despite the rather obvious difference in their levels. But not long after Ekans coiled itself around it's new opponent, the serpent started to get a very bad feeling. Literally. With it's body coiled tightly around Samantha's, Ekans could feel very high amounts of psychic energy coming off of her. Given that this was one of the Poison type's greatest weaknesses, Ekans' grip began to go soft, as the snake Pokémon quickly realized that it bit off far more then it could chew. The Psychic attack hit hard, and Ekans' body flew off of Samantha's, hitting the ground several yards away from Kevin's group. The snake was in great pain, but still managed to slither off into another ally way, defeated.
Samantha gained 400XP and +1 Happiness! (+15) Eiskalt grew to LV 4 and gained +1 Happiness! (+3)

Just as Samantha celebrated her easy victory over the young Ekans the weather started to change again as snow started to fall. Not only had the weather been quite bizarre but it was yet again not favorable weather for the vixen as she cursed her rotten luck. " You have to be kidding me, Arceus must hate me for some reason with this awful weather. What have I done to deserve such foul weather?" She asked as Kevin started to chuckle. He found the snow far less annoying than the sandstorm earlier and it was perfect weather to give Eiskalt another chance as her species thrived in snow and icy conditions. Even if she was still a lower level than most of the Pokemon in town the weather might just give her enough help to win her first battle single handed.
" I am sure the weather will be favorable for you at one point Samantha but for now it is a great stroke of luck for Eiskalt. A fast icy type in weather like this can be a really potent mix if we are able to find the right foe for her to face. Maybe this weather is a sign that luck will finally be on her side." As he finished speaking Eiskalt started to run around enjoying the snow as Oracle kept a close eye on her. Even if she was not fond of the weather either she was still worried the young weasel would get into trouble she was not ready to fight out of on her own. Both Samantha and herself were ready to jump in the moment it was clear that Eiskalt would need help.
As they waited for another encounter Oracle started to sense something else down the road heading their way and she quickly pointed in the direction of the approaching aura. " Be ready something else is heading down the road now. Maybe Eiskalt will get her chance but if not we will have to handle whatever it is Samantha." With her warning well understood Eiskalt also picked up on the approaching figure ready to attack with her Icicle Crash the moment she got the all clear. She may have been a bit reckless but there was no denying her fighting spirit and determination as she stood ready for battle.
" That young Sneasel sure is a brave young lady, I kind of feel bad for her not finding something she can handle yet as I know it would help her confidence even more to win a battle by herself." He said ready to help Eiskalt out if she needed it.
OOC: Waiting on an encounter.

The sudden change is weather may have been favorable to Eiskalt, but not to most of the wild Pokémon in the area. Many of them ran into hiding, trying to find someplace warm until the snow stopped. Still some, like Eiskalt, made the choice to stay out in the open and play in the snow. One such Pokémon was the one headed straight for Kevin and his Pokémon, but the way it was moving around was a bit odd. The Pokémon ran around frantically one moment, but then suddenly stopped, then started running around again. This cycle continued for several minutes, before the wild Pokémon finally appeared before Kevin and his party. The Pokémon was revealed to be a rather rare one to the area, not seen very often by travelers. It was a Skitty, the kitten Pokémon, and this particular Skitty seemed to be full of energy. Every time it saw something sway in the slightest breeze, the Normal type would run over to it and start playing with it. Even the snow falling from the sky was more then enough to get Skitty's attention, as the small Pokémon ran from snowflake to snowflake, trying to bat at them with its small paws before they hit the ground. This went one for another minute, until Skitty spotted Eiskalt, and ran over to her. Skitty proceeded to run around the Sneasel in a circle, trying to get the Ice/Dark type to play with it from the looks of it. A wild Skitty (LV 6) appeared! Shiny check: r4wOGFaQ1-421-42

As soon as Kevin saw the Skitty he had a feeling that it would not be quite what he was hoping to encounter but he was going to let Eiskalt try and battle the kitten and see how she would fare against it. " Ok Eiskalt, this Skitty might be something you can handle. I want you to try and use Icicle Crash on it and we will go from there." Before the young Sneasel could make a move however Freyja jumped out of her Pokeball and stepped out in front wanting to battle in her place. Kevin was not exactly pleased by this but as he was hoping to raise her as well he decided to let the young Eevee try in Eiskalt's place. He looked at Freyja and gave her his orders hoping that she would not butt in again after this battle.
" Freyja I want you to use Tackle on that SKitty after it uses its free move against you. Eiskalt hopefully your luck turns around soon but you should both get a tiny bit stronger if this battle goes well." Freyja looked over at the young kitten ready to strike right after it made its move as she wanted to grow stronger and prove she could be useful like the rest of Kevin's Pokemon. As she waited for her turn to strike Kevin hoped her ability would prove useful again as it had in a number of battles so far as it might just make this battle even quicker than he had expected. Oracle on the other hand was just relieved that she or Samantha would not have to jump in this time to save Freyja.
" It is a bit of a shame Eiskalt will not get a chance again but Freyja really does have plenty of bravery going for her. It is a bit of a bad time for that bravery to kick in but it is good to see her determination again." As for Samantha she did not even feel the need to say anything as she just enjoyed watching battles. " Oh yes before I forget Freyja do not forget about your ability, that should make up for Tackle not being a very powerful move but still be careful as Skitty can be a sneaky Pokemon despite their looks." Kevin said as the battle was about to begin. He just hoped the young Eevee did not do anything too reckless just because her opponent was so young.
OOC: Eiskalt is sent out and swapped for Freyja the Eevee. Freyja uses Tackle while activating her Adaptability ability.

The wild Skitty that had intended on playing with Kevin's Sneasel seemed upset when the Eevee popped out of its Pokeball, right infront of Eiskalt. Freyja's appearance suprised the wild normal-type feline Pokemon, But a playmate was a playmate, whether it was the Sneasel or the Eevee. Even with the snow coming down fiercely, it wasn't going to stop the Skitty from wanting to play. It was clearly a very young Pokemon, and not very experienced in the art of battle as it would seem. The Skitty ran up to the Eevee right after it appeared from the Pokeball and tagged it with one of its paws, and then leaped away through the snow. It then let a little tail wag towards Freyja, as if calling it over to play with a Tail Whip attack. The attack the Skitty would receive next wouldn't seem so playful however. The much higher-leveled Eevee's Tackle attack would send the Skitty rolling in the snow. It eventually stopped rolling, but the Skitty was unable to get up, however hard it tried. It was stuck in the snow that covered the street until it would eventually recover its energy.
◓ VICTORY ◓
Eiskalt grows one level to level five for watching the battle! Eiskalt also gains +1 happiness. (+4 total) Freyja grows one level to level 16 for defeating the wild Skitty! Freyja also gains +1 happiness. (+11 total)

Though the battle had not been fought by the Pokemon Kevin had originally intended he was still quite pleased that both of his Pokemon had benefitted from the battle. Freyja might have spoiled Eiskalt's fun but the young Sneasel was still getting stronger just by watching Kevin's other Pokemon fight but she still hoped her chance would come really soon as she was a little bit less fragile than she was when she first hatched. " Good job you two, I hate the idea of knocking out a Pokemon so rare in these parts but given how much you both benefitted I would sau the rewards outweighed the negatives of the battle in this case." The whole time he talked Eiskalt had been sharpening her claws in preparation for her first real battle whenever the opportunity finally presented itself
" Eiskalt sure is determined to finally win a battle and I cannot blame her, I remember struggling as a Riolu in battles so I know how she feels right now. Then again I never had a powerful move such as Icicle Crash to help me either." As Oracle once again scanned the area for the aura of something else to battle Samantha tried to stay as warm as she could using Flamethrower on a pile of newspapers she found in the trash. As they were soaked it was a pointless effort that annoyed her to no end. " I swear if this town does not get better weather soon I am going to lose it, I am so sick and tired of awful weather." As soon as she ended her rant Oracle finally picked up on something and hoped it would lighten the mood a bit.
" Finally, I picked up something else. This weather must be chasing away most of the Pokemon but I can see something sitting outside one of the shops on the main road. If nothing else it will take our minds off the weather for a bit." Though the news of something else being close by was appealing to everyone else in the group Samantha was too annoyed by the weather to focus on anything else " You all have fun with that, when it is a nice sunny day let me know and I will get excited but until then I just want this nightmare to end. This town has the most messed up weather cycle I have ever seen in my life." With the majority in agreement however the group set off to look for the next source Oracle had found.
OOC: Waiting for another encounter.

It was starting to get late in the day, despite this the Cherrygrove City streets were littered with snow that had fallen continuously over the course of the day, the terrible wind had enticed the majority of the wild pokemon within the surrounding areas to fled to safety and warmth. One particular Meowth had been standing out the front of the local Pokemart, this feline wasn't your average innocent and harmless pokemon though. Meowth was rather egotistical, humble was definitely not a trait within his personality. Meowth had been clawing out at any pokemon and trainers that approached it, these were his city streets and he was going to prove to everybody that he was the alpha cat of this area. As it gazed through the horribly cold and miserable weather, Meowth noticed a male human and his partner pokemon approaching the front of the Pokemart, this was his chance, the opposition looked particularly tough from observation, this wild Meowth was certainly never one to shy from a challenge as it pointed one paw towards Kevin's Eiskalt the Sneasel and issued a challenge to battle.
A wild Meowth (Level 8) is out to prove he is the toughest cat about! Will Kevin give Meowth the opportunity to prove this?Shiny Check: QftADxAK1-421-42

The horrible weather kept getting worse as Kevin could hardly see a thing in front of him as they walked towards the source of energy Oracle had picked up on. As they walked down the barren street the dead silence was rather fitting considering the weather until they spotted a Meowth standing in front of the Pokemart and before long the wild Pokemon's desire for a battle was quite apparent. Though the weather was far from ideal Eiskalt stepped forward more than willing to face the Meowth as she got ready to attack. Had the weather been more favorable Kevin would have let her try but he knew this battle would be too risky for her.
" Eiskalt I do not think this weather will be kind enough for you to battle here, I think we need to let one of the others handle this Meowth for now." Kevin did not even have to think about which Pokemon he wanted to use as Oracle stepped forward. Even in this awful weather Oracle could see the Meowth quite clearly by following its Aura and as she had the only attack that could negate the fog's effects she wasted no time in positioning herself for the upcoming battle. As annoyed as Eiskalt was to miss another chance to battle the weasel had little choice in the matter. With Eiskalt now safe Kevin just needed to deal with the Meowth quickly so they could move on to a better location with kinder weather.
" In most cases I would like to have multiple options to handle a situation like this but for now Oracle you are my only safe bet in this fog." Oracle waited for Meowth to use its free move as she got ready to unleash her Aura Sphere the second the Meowth used its one freebie as her paws started to store the aura needed for her attack. " Oracle use Aura Sphere on that Meowth, lets see it try to dodge even in this weather." While they waited for her chance to strike Samantha fired off a Flamethrower attack into the sky to voice her frustration caused by mother nature not being merciful at all. She could hardly stand the idea of staying in this town for another second in weather like this and hoped they could leave after this battle.
" Please tell me we will be done after this, I want nothing more to do with this horrible weather or dead as nails town."
OOC: Eiskalt is sent out and swapped for Oracle. Oracle uses Aura Sphere.

After Oracle annihilated the poor Meowth Kevin looked down at Eiskalt who grew a tiny bit stronger as a result of her observations while also seeing the look of disgust on Samantha's face as the weather was beyond bearable for the vixen. Eiskalt was not as strong as she could become by continuing to train on the streets of Cherrygrove but there was no denying this weather was not going to do them many favors. After thinking about his options for a few moments he headed for the local Pokemon Center to try and calm Samantha down for a little while until he could make up his mind over what he should do next.
The TV in the Pokemon Center mentioned that Violet City was experiencing far nicer weather compared to Cherrygrove he had no doubt as to where he should train next. " I think that settles it, Violet City might not be in the best shape weather wise but it is better than here. The Pokemon there should be a bit better for training Eiskalt and maybe we can get her and Freyja strong enough to handle a few harder battles on their own while still training everyone else when the chance arises." Samantha could barely contain her excitement at the news as she wanted to leave as soon as she could. She started to walk towards the door while happily responding to the news. " Oh joyous day, let's get a move on. This town can burn in eternal hellfire with its nasty weather."
Oracle was happy as well but unlike Samantha she was better able to control her emotions as she responded to the news. " That sounds like a great plan to me. Maybe we will have better luck there as not many decent candidates to train Eiskalt wanted to appear here." Freyja was quite excited as well and though she could not speak the look in her eyes made it clear she was on board with the plan. Eiskalt was the least excited as she did not care where her battle took place so long as it happened soon. With Clamps and Berserk still in their Pokeball too comfortable to care either way Kevin had no doubt it was the right call given the recent weather changes.
By the time he started to head out the door Samantha had already flung them wide open and was half a block down the road forcing Kevin to yell to get her attention. " Samantha hold up, I know you are glad to get out of here but we still need to stick together."
OOC: Heading to Violet City and archiving thread.
