Bishop frowned as he looked up to the sky. He was not built for summer weather. In fact he rather appreciated the fall season more and even then preferred to be out and about in the evenings. His pale, Kalos skin had never quite adapted to this regions summers. Putting on some sun screen and putting his sunglasses in place he turned his attention instead to the two pokemon by his side.
He was very fortunate in that his mother had gifted him with a pikachu she had bred just for the occasion of his journey. Between Blossom, who was a rather odd little dirt loving pikachu and Ember, the charmander the Professor had given him Bishop knew that he had the starts of a pretty formidable little party here. For his two new companions the young man had only smiles. He felt they would all be rather close and expected great things from both the pokemon and himself.
"That's enough for now guys. You've practiced for a couple of hours now. You can take a break."
For the last few days, since his parents returned to Kalos, they had been camping at the outskirts of town. The days had been spent exercising, practicing their aim with various attacks and dodging. Bishop too had exercised along with his pokemon. He wanted them to understand that they were all in this together and the group of them would have to work together to make his dreams for them come true.
Digging in his back pack he pulled out some food for them and fed his new partners. He too took out some dinner and settled beside them to eat. Occasionally his eyes would scan the horizon and the road that led to the next city. For a long time they all rested and gathered their strength. Finally it seemed as good a time as any to get started.
"Ladies, I think it's as good a time as any to get on the road. The sun is almost down so it wont be as hot. We can walk a fair distance and find some wild pokemon to challenge. What do you say?"
With that he broke camp and led his friends towards the tall grass to see what they could find.

Ahh yes. New Bark town had sent off many trainers throughout the years. With a Charmander and Pikachu, Bishop would be in great hands for his first battle. Now, the trick was to find a Pokemon. Perhaps it would be a Sentret or a Wurmple! The grass rustled about twenty feet away from the new trainer, what could it be? A weird, maybe eggshell colored Pokemon, popped up from the tall weeds. Certainly, an odd specimen for a first encounter, but still quite the special find!
It was a Spinda! The Pokemon had just woken up from a nice nap, perhaps not the safest decision to plop down in the middle of a grassy patch in an open area, but oh well! Stumbling about, Spinda looked around to check its surroundings. There was a trainer! Spinda teetered over to investigate, not knowing whether the trainer was nice or wanted a challenge. Who was it kidding, they all wanted to battle! IT readied itself for a brawl, readying itself for combat! A wild Spinda (level 4) appeared! gB75fCW41-421-42

He glanced up at the rustling sound and caught sight of the Spinda. Bishop's eyes widened a bit as he regarded the odd little pokemon. To say he was surprised would have been something of an understatement. Seeing the little creature prepare for battle he shook off the surprise and opened the pokeball to release Ember, his young Charmander.
"I choose you Ember. Use your scratch attack and let's teach him who's boss!"

Still blinking the sleep from its eyes Spinda clapped its hands against its cheeks as it tottered on the spot, raring to go once the charmander was revealed. With the fading light trickling through the line of trees of route 29 the fire type's tail was quite the beacon. Spinda chirped its name happily. This was the perfect way to wake oneself up at the break of dusk. The trainer was on the ball. Calling for an attack right off the bat with much gusto the waking Spinda could do little to react in the same time. This left the wild pokémon readily open for Ember to charge in and take a swipe. Little claws primed, the lizard pokémon raked Spinda along its arm. Not quite where she had intended to strike, but the dizzying motion of Spinda even when it was trying to stand still made it a bit more difficult to target exactly. It was one of spinda's natural defenses in a way. Slower as it may be, Spinda was not about to let the scratch go unanswered. With a cheery hum the teetering pokémon began to run at the retreating charmander. Ember, having been on her way back to stand by Arkayne, half turned when she heard the noise. Still rather inexperienced with battles she hadn't thought about turning her back. A mistake. Luckily thanks to her tail Spinda had to do some awkward maneuvering around the fire before lunging into a tackle attack. Spinda's aim just off, but still managed to slam into Ember and knock them both to the ground. Battle Weather: Clear Spinda | LV 4 HP: 80% (16/20) Status: Normal Used Tackle! VS

He frowned slightly as the Spinda scored a hit. Bishop noted that the opposing pokemon was a beefy little fellow who seemed like he would be hard to take down. Ember was already hit but he still had faith in her. They had been practicing and working out for awhile now. It was just going to take some practice against a real opponent for the lessons to start to become second nature.
"Watch out Ember!" he called out. "Spinda is hard to hit. Watch out for his tackle and scratch him again!"

Spinda and Ember were equally matched, both asserting their power over one another. The normal type panda was constantly dizzy, making it hard to focus on the battle. Yet, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. The spotted animal lunged once more for a powerful physical attack, but it was not quick enough for Ember. The lizard was able to deliver the initial blow due to its excellent speed. Spinda still was able to go in for a deafening blow as well, rocking Ember to the floor.

Ember was starting to slow a bit and Bishop cringed a bit inside to realize she was hurting. The spunky little Charmander didn't seem too put out by it though. She actually seemed to be enjoying herself and was very intent on beating her opponent. Despite his own desire to protect his pokemon the young trainer had to admire her attitude. "Scratch it again!" he called out in an encouraging tone. The Spinda was looking tired and injured as well. One, maybe two more good hits and it would be weak enough for him to catch it. With that in mind he readied a pokeball as the two squared off again. (Short post is alright. Mine isn't exactly long either. )

It was normal for new Pokemon to tire out quickly, Charmander would get used to the system and techniques in battling. Although attacks seemed to hurt at this level, defensive tactics would come as it gained experience. The important thing was to just keep trying, Ember trusted her trainer to know what was best for her and the team. Most captured Pokemon were trained knowing they had teammates to fall back on, nothing had to be their sole responsibility.
Ember lunged forward to deliver another blow to Spinda, although trading tackle attacks were anti-climactic, it was what many younglings had to do in order to gain experience in the field. Spinda went in for a tackle attack as well, not yet ready to throw in the towel. Wild Pokemon were known to be quite the battlers, never considering to run away.

Bishop frowned slightly. Ember was truly enjoying herself despite the pain of getting hit. Even at this age she had the heart of a champion! She just didn't have the experience yet to be as physically formidable as she saw herself as being in her minds eye. That was alright though. As her trainer he was here to look out for her.
"You did good Ember! You'll get get him next time!"
With that he summoned her back to her pokeball. Held in his other hand was a second ball and even as the little Charmander was summoned back his little dirt loving Pikachu was sent out in her place.
"Blossom! Thunder shock the Spinda!"
Appearing on the field of battle the little electric mouse looked at him with wide eyes and turned towards it's opponent. It seemed that Blossom was just as keen to fight as Ember had been. And, as an added bonus, with her static ability even being hit might render the Spinda as paralyzed and thus that much easier to capture.

Spinda continued to whirl around on the spot trying to regain its bearings from the last round of scratching. Though it was difficult to tell by anyone else's standards as stumbling about was a spinda's normal way of standing 'still'. Because of this it was also a bit hard to discern when the normal type was beginning to move in for an attack. Something Blossom was going to learn right away as she popped out of the pokéball to replace her fiery friend. Before she knew it there was a soft furred bear slamming into her. Thankfully her big hat led the wild pokémon slightly astray targeting wise, allowing the mouse to turn the attack into a glancing blow. Her own short fur sparked with the contact, a quiet crackle zipping across Spinda's body and causing a bit of a start. Momentarily confused, rubbing its static shocked cheek as it watched the pikachu charge up a real electric attack. The energy snapped across the short distance and shook through Spinda. It barely held on. Movements now less graceful and steady the wild pokémon made another go at Blossom and managed to land its strike. If nothing else its movements were still hard to follow, but there was a lot more recovery time after the fact. Battle Weather: Clear Spinda | LV 4 HP: 1% (1/20) Status: Normal Used Tackle! x2 VS
Blossom | LV 5 | Static HP: 50% (10/20) Status: Normal Switched with Ember! Used Thunder Shock!

Time seemed to slow to a crawl as Bishop switched out Ember for Blossom. The little Charmander seemed disappointed to not finish the battle but didn't argue or complain. He had spent time while the walked explaining to his two little friends how they needed to all cooperate and work together so that they could grow into the kind of team that he envisioned. Judging by her reaction it seemed that Ember got the message and was fully on board with the idea.
For her part Blossom seemed happy to get out of her pokeball and to see some action. It seemed he had a couple of go getters here for his first pokemon. They really wanted to strut their stuff and show what they could do! This pleased the young trainer. With partners like this by his side there was no telling how far they could go. Maybe even the championship itself if the fates were willing!
But best not to get ahead of himself though. He had a pokemon to capture first. This little Spinda was proving to be quite the brawler. He, or she as the case happened to be, would be a welcome addition to the team. Bishop couldn't remember what moves they learned as they grew in levels but this little one definitely had the fighting spirit he would need on his team.
Noting that the little bear seemed to be staggering now rather than it's normal jerky motion he took it as a sign that it was now ripe for capture. This was going to be an auspicious moment too. His first attempt to capture a pokemon on his own. One the professor had given him to start his journey with and the second a gift from his mother as the rest of the family returned to Kalos. The first one he actually caught himself would would be a special thing indeed!
"Blossom, just try to stay out of his way," Bishop called out, hoping his dirt loving Pikachu could dodge. He didn't want her getting hurt anymore than necessary. Then, taking one of the pokeballs from his belt he lined up the shot and then threw it at the Spinda for all he was worth.
"Come on you! Get in the ball. I think we are going to be great friends...if only I can catch you!"
Ball thrown it was now up to luck.

The wild Spinda continued to move all around in its usual dizzy manner, especially after having taken so much damage over the course of this battle. The swirly eyed bear looked like it would hit the ground and pass out at any moment, as the world continued to spin all around it, at least from it's point of view. That said, Spinda was blissfully unaware of what was about to happen to it, until Bishop's Poke Ball came fly threw the air, and hit the Normal type Pokémon right in it's forehead. Once that was done, the ball opened up, and Spinda became enveloped in a red colored light, before vanishing, and getting sucked inside of the small device. The Poke Ball landed on the ground and began to shake after that, as Spinda tried to break free from the inside. However, in it's extremely weakened state, it was no use. The ball stopped shaking after about ten seconds, and a little "ding" sound was heard from it. Spinda has been captured. Please complete the following code. Ember gained 1 level for helping out, and is now level 6. Blossom gained 2 levels for winning the battle, and is now level 7. Blossom is trying to learn the move Play Nice. Will Bishop delete a move and allow Blossom to learn Play Nice?

Bishop held his breath while he waited. He was staring at the pokeball with clenched fists and willing the ball to stay closed. Seconds later his face spread into a broad grin as he heard the click.
"Yes! We got him!" he yelled out in joy. Blossom turned to look at him with an equally pleased expression. This was his parties first battle and now they had captured their first pokemon. It was a special day indeed. Opening Ember's pokeball he let her out too to share in the celebration.
"Do you see what we've done?" he asked the two of them. "You two fought brilliantly and now we've caught a new friend to join us on the journey."
The both looked extremely pleased with themselves and Bishop couldn't blame them. It was a big step and though he figured there would be many, many more fights and lots more captures it would be hard to beat the first one. He was certainly going to remember it for the rest of his life.
"Settle in for a bit ladies. We are going to rest up and see to your wounds. Then we can get to know our new little friend here."
Taking a bit of time to tend to Ember and Blossom Bishop was pleased to find that neither of their injuries were serious. They needed rest more than anything. After they were settled he took out the new pokeball and released the Spinda. The little guy looked confused and blinked a few times as he studied his new trainer and the other two pokemon.
"Spin?" the little bear said with a tentative expression.
"There is nothing to worry about little friend," Bishop said, giving his new pokeomon a little pat on the head. "Your part of the family now. I think I'm going to call you Disco."
Then, opening up some food for them all the little party settled in to rest for a little while before setting off again. A little sleep later, full bellies and feeling stronger they went off again in search of wild pokemon on the way to Cherrygrove.

As the group roused from their afternoon naps and relaxation after a hard fought battle the day carried on. Nothing else bothered them as they lay peacefully about. In fact it seemed a lot of the activity was turning away from the open route and retreating deeper into the wood lining the traveled path between New Bark and Cherrygrove. Could have something to do with the slow descent of the sun as the day neared into evening, but more likely it was a reaction to the clouds sliding over the area. Dark and heavy, they seemed capable of bursting at any moment. And so they did. Just as Bishop and his crew got a few moments into their continued journey little droplets began hitting the ground. It was a light drizzle thankfully, saving them from all being drenched any time soon, but the temperature seemed to drop quite a bit with the sun blocked off now. Though, after the summer heat the cool rain would likely be rather welcoming. To most anyway. Distressed chirps came from ahead in the trees. Turning eyes to the sky there appeared to be a bird circling around a section of tree just along the route, but the calls didn't seem to be coming from that bird. Once closer, if curiosity was peaked, there was something noteworthy stuck in the branches of one of the near trees: a kite. Brightly colored and resembling something like an archen it dangled down. Its line trailing out from deeper into the tree's span where something more interesting hung. Tangled in the rats nest of string was a small pidgey. The way it was wrapped it seemed the poor thing had been struggling for at least a few minutes. Rain pattered down on the leaves above it, protecting it for intervals before they would give way to the built up weight and splatter the bird all at once. Further up, making rounds in the sky, the other bird took notice of Bishop's proximity. It cawed then adjusted its path to angle down at the trainer. Breaking into a hover the free bird put itself relatively between the tangled pidgey and the newcomer. It too was a pidgey, and seemed adamant at being a bit of an obstacle. A Pidgey♂ (LV 4) appeared [Tangled Feet]! Will Bishop fight it?Weather = Rain lsQjO2ww1-421-42

Once the rain had begun he let Blossom and Ember back into their pokeballs. Neither was exactly a fan of rainy weather and he was willing to let them stay dry. Likewise his new friend Disco had had a rough day. Unless he was needed for a battle he too could stay in the ball and rest for awhile. This left Bishop walking along with another of his new friends, the Swinub Rex he had met not too long ago. The little pig liked the cold and the rain so they could keep each other company.
Hearing the bird sounds they did go to investigate. Biship made a soft tutting sound seeing the abandoned kite. It was a shame people would litter like that. Then, after a closer look he saw the entangled Pidgey and frowned.
"Awwww, you poor thing. That's why people shouldn't litter like this. Now your all caught up in all that string."
He stepped a bit closer, intent on untangling the poor bird, when the other had made his presence known. Now this was a dilemma. How could he help the one without antagonizing the other? He didn't want to hurt either of them after all.
"Is this your friend?" he asked of the one standing guard. "Or your mate maybe? I don't want to hurt her. I'm here to help."
He held both of his hands up to show he wasn't carrying anything. Rex regarded the bird suspiciously but watched while his trainer tried to earn the Pidgey's trust.
"If you let me untangle the string for her I wont hurt her...or you either. Just let me help and we can both be on our own way."
Bishop wasn't sure how much,if any, of what he was saying that the Pidgey might understand. He had to try though. If need be he would fight the one that was free so he could untangle the other but that seemed kind of rude to him. He didn't want to have a good deed marred by unnesseccary violence if he could avoid it.
"See. I wont hurt her. I promise."
With every word he tried to edge just a little bit closer. Another few steps and he would be close enough. If only the little bird would allow it.
