As the sunlight peaked through the trees on route 29, Venom's eyes opened slowly, as he let out a big yawn and stretches his arms and legs. It was morning, and while Venom had slept in a tree the night before, this wasn't really anything new to him. The ninja put his game face on almost right away, and jumped down from the tree branch he'd slept on, landing on his feet on the ground below, ready to face the day with renewed vigor. The Poison type trainer took a moment to look around at all the frost that had formed overnight, until his eyes fell on the small, sleeping Salandit on his shoulder. Venom smiled at her, and gently nudges her with his hand. "Sorry, but its time to wake up Salandit. We have to start your training."
The recently hatched Poison/Fire type Pokémon let out a yawn of her own, and slowly opened her eyes, taking in all the new sights and sounds around her. Her eyes soon stopped on Venom's eyes, and she smiled right back at him. "Sala." Venom then knelt down, and held his arm down to the ground, giving Salandit a way off his shoulder. "Im happy to finally meet you too Salandit, now climb off my shoulder. We have a lot of work to do before we find that Alolan trial Ive heard about." The toxic lizard Pokémon unwrapped herself from her trainer's scarf, and crawled off his shoulder. "Salandit?" She then looked up at him from the ground with a questioning gaze, still not sure what he had in mind for her.
"You see Salandit, your not just a Poison type. Your also a Fire type, and you have a very powerful ability. Corrosion. Both of those things together make you the perfect Pokémon to take on Steel types, the biggest obstacles between Team Toxic and their ultimate goal. Team Toxic is here to show the whole world that Poison type Pokémon are the strongest Pokémon there is, and there's a trainer in this region that specializes in Steel type Pokémon, but that's where you come in Salandit. With your help, I know we can beat her for sure. So what do ya say Salandit? Will ya help us out?" Venom explained the basics to his new Pokémon, hoping she'd understand.
Salandit listened to each and everyone of her trainer's words. She still didn't understand some of it, but she understood that he needed her help at least. "Sala! Salandit!" As a response, Salandit gave her tail a good shake, as some small flames appeared from it. Venom smiled once more after that, overjoyed to have such a powerful and lively ally on the team. "Thanks Salandit, I know you and I will do great things from here. But before we get to your training, there's something we have to address first." The ninja told her, then pulled out a Poke Ball and a Dusk Ball, tossing them up into the air, and letting out the Pokémon inside of them. From the two orbs, Ivysaur and Zubat emerged, facing their trainer.
"Ivysaur, Zubat, this is our new teammate and friend Salandit. Be sure to help her out if she needs it, and make her feel like part of the family." Venom gestured to Salandit as he spoke, and his other two Pokémon both turned and smiled at her. "Ivysaur. Ivy." Ivysaur slowly extended a vine out to her, patting the top of her head gently. "Zubat." Zubat flew down to her, meeting her at eye level, not that Zubat had any eyes of course. "Salandit. Sala." Salandit smiled at her fellow Poison type Pokémon, warming up to them very quickly. Venom was very pleased to see his Pokémon getting along, then reached into his bag for some very special items.
All three of his Pokémon turned to him, as Venom pulled out two small pieces of candy, and a piece of cake from his bag. "Okay, first things first. Salandit, I want you to eat these." Venom held the two pieces of candy out to Salandit, and she looked at them with a puzzled expression. "Their called Rare Candies. They'll make you stronger. The same goes for the cake, but I want you all to share the cake. Okay?" The three Poison type Pokémon looked at each other for a moment, then turned back to their master. "Ivysaur!" Ivysaur used his Razor Leaf to cut the piece of cake into three equally sized pieces, then all three Pokémon dug into their treats. As they ate, Venom stood back up, watching for any wild Pokémon that might appear, knowing the smell of the cake might draw them in.

After the night had passed, Venom was ready to welcome a brand new day. As the sun was rising through the sky, the group had a whole day ahead of them. After introducing Ivysaur and Zubat to their new teammates, the young trainer had gave his Pokemon some breakfast treats. The three Pokemon ate their share of the cake, while the human kept an eye out on approaching, wild Pokemon, who would be lured by the smell of scent. However, there wasn't seemed to be any Pokemon that would be lured by smell, as the three had finished eating and were joyous from such a tasty treat. After a few second passed, the young Salandit had let out a loud burped, as if this was the first time she had ate so much sweet in one go. Some of the other Pokemon giggled. Instead of the smell of food, it was the laughter of a friendly party of Pokemon that drew a wild Pokemon close. A lone Sentret perked up its ears from the tall grass, and then gradually ran toward the sound, to discovered quite a number of Pokemon here. This normal type probably slept really hard this morning to have miss the scent of cake, but now, it wanted to know what's so funny here.

Venom was very happy to see his Pokémon getting along so well, and watching his Zubat evolve into Golbat wasn't half bad either. "Your on your way Golbat. Soon enough, you'll be a powerful Crobat." The bat Pokémon turned to his trainer, and gave him a big smile, very happy to have evolved. "Gol! Golbat!" Ivysaur smiled at his teammate too, happy for him, and his newly acquired evolved form. "Ivysaur. Saur." As for Salandit, she looked at Golbat with awe all over her face, extremely amazed by the evolution she'd just witnessed. Venom saw this, and smiled at her, petting the top of her head gently. "Ya like that? Someday it'll happen to you too Salandit, when your strong enough."
As the Poison type trainer and his Pokémon enjoyed their morning, Venom soon took notice of the Sentret that had made its way onto the scene. It was then that Venom got his usual competitive grin, as he eyed the Normal type Pokémon. "Speaking of strength, now seems like the perfect time to test yours Salandit. Ivysaur, Golbat, go on back inside for now." Venom said to his trio of Pokémon, calling Ivysaur and Golbat back to their respective Poke Balls. "Sala?" At first, Salandit was confused, as she too turned to the Sentret that had just appeared before them. "Its time for your first battle Salandit. Looks like your first opponent will be that Sentret. Now go, and use your Poison Gas attack!" The ninja said to the fire lizard Pokémon, pointing right at the wild Normal type. Salandit still didn't really get it, but she obeyed her trainer's commands none the less. "Salandit!" Running forward, Salandit opened her mouth up wide, and sprayed a cloud of poisonous gas at the wild Sentret.

Head full of curiosity the Sentret was wholly unprepared for the sneaky attack. The kind of poison type that didn't just use a stinger weren't very common around these parts, leaving the scout pokémon inhaling the cloud of poisonous gas without a second thought. The little salamander was quite fast for being so young. Something Sentret learnt fast as it coughed from the fumes. The raccoon-like pokémon huffed, stomach churning uncomfortably, and decided to work on its own defenses for now. The sudden oncoming of its aches hadn't been expected. Thus it curled up into a ball of fluff to give itself a moment to collect its thoughts and adjust to the new situation. Venom was very happy and interested in seeing Salandit's skills up close, as he watched his latest addition to his team infect the wild Sentret with her deadly toxin. The Poison type trainer had read about Poison type Pokémon from other regions plenty, but this was his first time seeing the powers of one in person. Venom was very pleased by the results, but he knew that from here on out, Salandit would have a slightly rougher go of it. Being that she'd just hatched from her egg, Scratch was her one and only attack. Not only that, but since Sentret had just increased it's defense, Scratch would do even less damage. Even so, no one ever said raising a newly hatched Pokémon would be easy. "Good job Salandit, now use your Scratch attack! Hit it two times, back to back!" Venom gave Salandit her next command, being that it was the only one he could give her at this point. "Sala!" The young salamander Pokémon listened to her trainer, and crawled right over to her opponent, scratching at it with her claws upon reaching it.

The wild pokémon took a deep breath. Its stomach was churning uncomfortably thanks to all that gas. While the defensive position certainly made Sentret feel a little better it wasn't going to do wonders in regards to finishing the battle for it. The scout pokémon heard the trainer praise the efforts of the strange black lizard and make another command of attack. Sentret breathed hard once again to empty its chest before unraveling itself with a plan. Not a very good one though. Salandit had already slunk her way into melee range of Sentret by the time the furry pokémon had uncurled itself. For the first second the wild one had a determined spark in its eye. Their gazes met and a faint flicker of light flashed over the area. Nothing more than maybe seeing a lightbulb in another room ebb. It didn't seem to do anything so Salandit had no problem following through with her double scratching. The first set of claws digging through the tufts of fuzz hit home rather hard right in Sentret's face while the second scraped off near harmlessly as the wild pokémon got its bearings. By which time Sentret decided to do some scratching of its own. After the retaliation Salandit slithered her way back quiet as a bandit through the grass. Sentret had hit rather hard but even as young as she was the lizard was capable of brushing it off. Unlike her opponent it seemed. The poison continued to take its toll, leaving the scout pokémon dizzy and unsteady. Battle Weather: Clear Sentret | LV 5 HP: 20% (4/20) Status: Poisoned, +1 DEF Used Foresight! Used Scratch! VS

This was a sight that Venom had seen time and time again, and had come to enjoy it very much so. As he looked over at the wild Sentret, struggling with its poison ailment, Venom grinned, having always enjoyed watching Poison type Pokémon do what they do best to their various opponents. And with Salandit's ability, the ninja could finally see it happen to Steel type Pokémon too. That thought made Venom very excited, but before that, he knew he'd have to make Salandit stronger first. "Alright, its on its last legs Salandit! Give it one more Scratch attack now!" Venom knew that between the poison and Salandit's attack, the scout Pokémon wouldn't make it another round. "Sala! Salandit!" The toxic lizard Pokémon didn't really see it though, being that this was her first battle, but she knew to obey her trainer, and did as he commanded of her straight away.

The odds were not on Sentret's side. It could feel itself weakening rapidly from the poison. Now, it was too late to run and the normal-type could only hope it could bring its foe down with it. The normal type extended its tiny claws and made an attempt to pounce on its foe. However, the poison-type was quicker and struck first, whittling down Sentret's HP to the very minimum. With just enough strength left, the scout Pokémon hit back at Salandit. While it did more damage than it received, it still wasn't enough. Its vision began to blur and it began to wobble for a short moment before finally blacking out. Battle Weather: Clear Sentret | LV 5 HP: 0% (0/20) Status: Fainted Used Scratch! Damaged by Poison. VS
Salandit | LV 4 | Corrosion HP: 32% (6/19) Status: Normal Used Scratch! Congratulations! Sentret was defeated! Salandit grew to level 7, gained +1 Happiness and learned Ember!

Once Sentret hit the dirt, Venom smiled at his Salandit, and gave her a nod of approval. After walking over to her, Venom knelt down next to her, and rubbed the top of her head gently. "That was very well done Salandit. You beat an opponent at a higher level then yourself, and learned a new move. Im very proud of you." The toxic lizard Pokémon was still having a hard time grasping all of this, but was happy to receive such treatment and praise from the human she'd come to know as her trainer. "Salaaaaaaaaa." Salandit let out a big yawn, feeling kind of beat after her first battle. Clearly, this was a Pokémon that got tired pretty easily.
Venom didn't know yet if this was because she was a newborn, or if that was just her personality type. Regardless, that didn't matter much to the Poison type trainer, as he picked Salandit up in his arms, and stood back up straight again. "Okay, you can rest for now, but we're not done yet Salandit. We need to get you into fighting shape for our trial." The ninja told her, referring to the Alolan trial that he knew was close by. Keeping a good, but gentle hold on Salandit, Venom proceeded to walk further down route 29, looking for Salandit's next opponent. All the while, the young Poison/Fire type used this time to catch a few Z's in her master's arms.

Route 29 was exploding with naive Pokémon at low levels. For an inexperienced Pokémon, this was the best place to train in all of Johto. Dozens of Pidgey watched from the trees as the poison-type trainer and his Salandit walked away victorious from his previous battle. Unfortunately, the weather didn't keep in sync with their win and an icy rain began to fall. A bold young Pidgey saw its chance after noticing that Salandit was partially a fire-type. The tiny bird didn't have much luck usually so it had decided to play strategically by challenging her in the rain. It was a well-known fact that fire-types were weakened by water after all. It swooped down from the branch it had been resting on and rushed out in front of the poison lizard. As it locked eyes with Salandit, Pidgey had a feeling that they both wanted the thing.

As the rain began to pour down from the sky, Venom looked up for a moment, knowing that this would hinder Salandit's potential in battle. Be that as it may, the ninja wasn't too worried, since he had complete faith in each and every one of his Pokémon. Despite the sudden downpour, Salandit continued to sleep soundly in Venom's arms, not at all bothered by the rain. The toxic lizard Pokémon finally began to stir when the small Pidgey flew down from the trees to challenge her, and let out a big yawn when she had awoke from her slumber. "Looks like you've got another challenger Salandit. Feel like taking this one on?" Venom asked his Pokémon, and she was quick to answer, jumping out of his arms. "Sala. Salandit."
Salandit was surprisingly active for a young Pokémon that had just woken up from a nap, but none of that was stopping her from taking part in her second battle. Her trainer was still a little worried about the rain, knowing that it would weaken the power of her newly acquired Ember attack, but he quickly pushed those thoughts aside. Venom actually kind of enjoyed sending his Pokémon into battle with a disadvantage, since it would make them that much stronger if they were able to win and overcome their weaknesses. "Just like before Salandit! Use your Poison Gas attack!" The Poison type trainer repeated his starting order from their last battle, knowing that the poison would more then compensate for Salandit's weakened Fire type attack. "Sala!" Salandit heard her trainer's command, took a deep breath, then bellowed out a large cloud of poisonous gas in the direction of the small Flying type Pokémon.

Pidgey thought the bad weather would be beneficial for it in this battle as Salandit's fire type moves would be greatly weakened by the weather but it had forgotten that the weather would have no effect on poison type moves or the blazing fast speed Salandit could move at. Before the bird could even hop a single time to get close enough to strike the salamander Pokemon Salandit fired off a poisonous cloud of gas surrounding the bird before filling its lungs with the the fumes. Pidgey coughed trying to clear its lungs but it was to no avail as the poisonous effect had already started to take effect. Pidgey did get a bit lucky though as the deep breath Salandit took to fire off the cloud drained a lot of her energy allowing the bird to deliver a small Tackle. It was not very strong but it did give the bird a slight upper hand at the start of the first round even as the poison started to sap its own energy. Pidgey knew things could have gone better but the weather kept things from getting any worse. Even without a way to recover from the poison it still took less damage than Ember would have caused it in most other weather conditions and for that the bird was quite thankful. With the next round looming ahead the bird knew it would need a lot more luck to win as Tackle alone was simply not doing enough damage to maintain the advantage for long and it had no hope of outspeeding the fire and poison type salamander as much as it wished it could about now. Just like in her last battle, Salandit had done what Poison types do best, as she and Venom watched the results of the toxic lizard Pokémon's good work. Still, the question remained. What would their next move be? Venom took a moment to look up, seeing that there was no sign of the rain stopping any time soon. The ninja knew that Salandit's Ember attack would normally do a lot more damage then her Scratch, but in this scenario, that's definitely not the case. So, with that in mind, Venom went with the only other option available. "Ember or not, we can still come out on top! Salandit, use back to back Scratch attacks now!" Venom gave Salandit her orders, once again repeating his commands from their previous battle. "Salandit! Sala!" The small Poison/Fire type rushed right for the wild Pidgey, and slashed her claws at the small bird Pokémon two times once she reached her foe.

Pidgey did not get a lot of time to come up with any method to increase its damage as Salandit rushed towards it quite eager to take control of this battle as quickly as she could. As she lifted her right front paw she scratched the bird Pokemon with enough force to break skin but Pidgey managed to endure the first scratch as it quickly regained its composure and made a beeline tackle before the salamander Pokemon could strike again. Just after the tackle however the bird could feel the poison drain its energy once again and Salandit knew this was the perfect time to strike again while her foe tried to fight off the pain of the poison. She scratched the bird again barely leaving it standing as the bird took far longer to recover from the second blow. The rain really started to take its toll as water had drenched its feathers and poison had sapped its physical energy. Even with everything working against it the bird was able to build up enough strength to deliver one final tackle that caused visible damage to Salandit but not nearly enough to pull out a last moment victory. Just as Pidgey watched Salandit recover from its strike the poison once again drained more energy but this time Pidgey just did not have enough energy to keep going as it fell to the ground in defeat. Even with the weather against her Salandit had proven to be the stronger Pokemon but luckily for Pidgey its flock had been watching the battle from a tall patch of grass and rushed to scoop up their comrade before rushing back into the grass to prevent it from being captured. Even without the chance to capture Pidgey the victory alone was something to celebrate. Battle Weather: Rain Pidgey | LV 4 HP: 0% (0/18) Status: KO'ed Used Tackle x2 then KO'ed from Poison!! VS
Salandit | LV 7 | Corrosion HP: 56% (14/25) Status: Normal Used Scratch x2

Venom watched the flock of Pidgey fly off with their defeated comrade, not at all bothered by the fact that he didn't get a chance to capture the fallen bird Pokémon. After all, Pidgey wasn't a Poison type, and to someone like Venom, that alone meant that he wasn't interested. One thing that did interest him though, was the very pleasant aroma that started drifting through the air shortly after Salandit's victory. Venom took a deep breath, breathed as much of it in as he could, then let out a sigh of content. The Poison type trainer looked down at Salandit, and knew that this smell could only mean one thing. "So you learned Sweet Scent. That's good, but we're not done yet Salandit. We still need to make you a little stronger first, but I think it would be best if we move onto Cherrygrove City to find you some stronger opponents now. Are you up for it?"
The ninja questions his Pokémon with a smile on his face, and Salandit's response was a single yawn. "Salaaaaaaa..." The toxic lizard Pokémon proceeded to walk over to her trainer, climb up his leg, and curl up on his shoulder upon reaching it. Venom let out a small laugh after seeing all of this, giving Salandit a gentle rub on top of her head. "Im beginning to see your distinctive personality traits Salandit. Why don't we just go and see what happens?" Being that Salandit had already fallen asleep again, Venom didn't bother waiting for an answer, and began to walk towards Cherrygrove City once again. Salandit was growing up very fast, but Venom still wanted her to get a little bit stronger before challenging the Alolan trial, which was still very much on his mind.
