Upon reaching Cherrygrove City for a second time, Venom took a moment to look up at the sky, seeing that it was still raining. Just like back on route 29, he knew this would put a damper on Salandit's training, but it would take a lot more then that to stop this ninja. Still, it never hurts to gain as much power as possible. That was Venom's thought, as he stopped under the side of someone's house, getting some cover from the rain for himself and his Pokémon. Venom then reached into his bag, and pulled out a Poke Ball and a Sport Ball, pressing the buttons on the front of them, making them bigger, then tossing them up into the air. "Go!" Venom declared, as both balls opened up mid-air, letting out the Pokémon inside of them.
Emerging from their orbs, and now standing before Venom were Ivysaur and Venom's newest addition to Team Toxic, Venipede. "Ivysaur. Ivy?" Ivysaur greeted his trainer, then turned to Venipede, looking a little confused. "This is Venipede, the newest member of Team Toxic. I found him during the Bug Catching Contest. Be sure to make him fell welcome Ivysaur. As for you Venipede, welcome to Team Toxic. We're glad to have you with us." Venom explained to Ivysaur, then knelt down to Venipede, rubbing his back gently and smiling at him. "Pede. Veni. Veni." The centipede Pokémon was happy to receive such a warm welcome from his new trainer, looking up at him with a pleased look in his eyes.
"Ivy. Ivysaur. Saur." Just like with Salandit's introduction, Ivysaur gave Venipede a smile, happy to have another poisonous Pokémon on the team. "Venipede. Veni." Venipede turned to Ivysaur, looking a little shy, but still pleased to make his acquaintance. "Anyway, I didn't just call you two out for introductions. You two are going to help Salandit get stronger, and gain some power for yourselves at the same time." Both Poison types turned to their trainer, looking a little confused, as their trainer went digging through his bag a second time. Seconds later, Venom pulled out a piece of birthday cake, and presented it to his Pokémon. "This is for the three of you. Seems I was lucky enough to get a second piece recently."
It was at this moment that Salandit awoke from her nap, smelling the familiar scent of cake. "Sala? Salandit!" She ran down Venom's arm, and joined her toxic teammates on the ground with a big smile on her face, as their trainer set down the cake in front of them all. "Ivy! Ivysaur!" Ivysaur remembered this from earlier on route 29, and just like before, used his Razor Leaf to cut the cake into three equally size pieces for the three of them to share. "Well, please dig in you three." Venom gave his Pokémon the word, and all three of them dug right in, taking a single piece of the cake for themselves and chowing down on it. Venom stood back up as his Pokémon fed, knowing that this would make all of them stronger. Maybe not by much, but every level counted in the world of Pokémon.

The icy rain falling on Cherrygrove City was showing no mercy to the inhabitants but for some Pokemon the weather really was a nightmare. The rain would interfere with multiple aspects of their life and for one Spearow it was totally fed up. Living in a chimney would be a better fate for the bird than this rain but just as it thought it would never catch a break the well known scent of a birthday cake filled its nose and the bird was totally hooked on the scent. It walked along the streets trying to avoid as many puddles as it could as it made its way towards the irresistible scent. After walking for what seemed like forever it saw Venom and his Pokemon along with the pieces of the alluring cake being eaten by his Pokemon. The bird was heartbroken as the treat disappeared from its eyes but maybe things were not quite as bad as they seemed since the cake would make the Pokemon who ate it stronger so it might make it a slightly better opponent to face as strong as most of Venom's Pokemon looked in the first place. Even getting knocked out would help pass some time that might allow this awful storm to pass so either way Spearow might catch a break. " Spearrrrrooooowwww" The bird said as it finally made the decision to battle Venom as it waited for a response. The bird was hoping it would not be left in the rain with nothing to show for its efforts but in this weather it could not stop Venom from bolting trying to encounter something more useful. If nothing else the bird was quite brave though it was both outnumbered by Venom's team and the weather was not going to help it out very much in this battle either. A wild Spearow (Level 9) appeared, would you like to battle or run? The weather for the battle will be rain if you choose to battle. OOC: Ivysaur grows to level 22 and +3 happiness from the birthday cake, Salandit grows to level 10 with +4 happiness and Venipede grows to level 19 with +1 happiness. Venipede can learn Poison Tail but it already knows 4 moves. Would you like Venipede to forget a move so it can learn Poison Tail?

Venom's smile vanished when he heard the sounds of a Pokémon's cry, turning to see the lone Spearow looking for a battle. Venom quickly deduced that the smell of the cake must've drawn it in, and probably made the bird sad to see that it was already gone when it arrived. "Oh, Im sorry Spearow. If I had anymore Id give you some, but if you'd rather have a battle now, that's perfectly fine too." The Poison type trainer felt kind of bad for the bird Pokémon, but he wasn't about to turn away another opponent for Salandit. Venom didn't think there were any other interesting Poison type Pokémon in the area, and he was eager to get to the Alolan trail. So, with all of that in mind, he was ready to take on any opponents that appeared before him.
"Salandit, your up! Finish up your treat, and get in the battle!" The ninja chose his Pokémon for this battle, gesturing for her to take to the makeshift battlefield. "Sala? Salandit!" Salandit swallowed her last bite of cake, then ran out in front of her trainer, facing the wild Spearow. Meanwhile, Ivysaur and Venipede had both finished off their cake, turning to face the battle that was about to unfold. "Sorry you two. Salandit needs the experience right now. Maybe next time. For now, return." Venom said to Ivysaur and Venipede, then called them both back to their Poke Ball and Sport Ball, putting them away for later. "As for you Salandit, use Poison Gas!" Venom gave Salandit her first order of the battle, sticking to their usual tactics. "Salan...dit!" The toxic lizard Pokémon opened her mouth up wide, and sprayed a very large cloud of her toxic gas in Spearow's direction.
OOC: Please get rid of Venipede's Screech, and teach him Poison Tail in its place. Thanks.

Venom acknowledging Spearow was at least a good sign for the bird as most trainers would have run off without saying a word the moment they encountered a Spearow they did not want to fight but the good news did not last long as Salandit stepped forward to face the bird. Spearow was not familiar with the salamander's species nor did it have very much experience with poison types and that combination quickly led to the first mistake the flying type made as it approached to get a better look at its opponent. Salandit fired off her cloud of poison gas right into the birds face as it remained dumbfounded by the sudden strike. Even the icy rain falling could not break up the gas as it entered Spearow's lungs causing it to cough and struggle to breathe. Spearow had no idea what had just happened but it knew it could not be good news as it could feel its energy quickly drain as the poison worked its way through its body. If there was any good news for Spearow it was that the poison would take some time to bring it down so there was still hope of winning the battle before the poison could cause too much harm. Spearow was known for its aggression anyway and the status affliction it found itself suffering from only increased the desire to go on the offensive as it made a move of its own. The sharp beak Spearow had plunged right into Salandit's forehead nipping a small piece of skin before the bird jumped back to keep as much distance as it could after the attack. The first time it got close things did not go well and it hoped to avoid the same mistake twice only getting close long enough to strike every chance it got. With the first round over however there was no way to stop the poison from draining some of Spearow's health as the poison continued to spread through the birds body. The first round of suffering did not cause a lot of panic in the bird but the clock was still working against it now as another round was about to start. Battle Weather: Rain Spearow | LV 9 HP: 92% (26/28) Status: Poisoned! Used Peck!! VS
Salandit | LV 10 | Corrosion HP: 78% (25/32) Status: Normal Used Poison Gas

Just like Salandit's last two battles up to this point, the toxic lizard had her foe exactly where she wanted it. Naturally, Venom was happy to see this, but at the same time, he was a little unsatisfied using the same strategy over and over again. Even so, the ninja knew that this was his and Salandit's best option at the moment, as he looked up at the sky, and watched the rain fall. This particular weather would weaken Salandit's Ember attack, and Venom knew this, as it made his grit his teeth in slight frustration. But, in the end, a win is a win. That was Venom's thought, as he turned back to Salandit and the wild Spearow.
The Poison type trainer knew Salandit could beat the bird Pokémon, with or without her Fire type attack, but he knew Salandit could still do better with more training. So, with the thought of Salandit learning another new move in his head, Venom pointed at the Flying type, and made his next order. "Hang tough Salandit! I know you can do this! Show me a double Scratch attack!" Venom once again repeated his follow up order from their last two battles, since it was their best option, at least for the moment. It took the Poison/Fire type a few seconds to collect herself, as Spearow's last attack left her kinda dizzy, but she was able to quickly shrug it off and collect herself. "Salandit! Sala! Sala!" Salandit narrowed her eyes at Spearow, then crawled straight towards her target, her claws at the ready for back to back strikes.

As the rain refused to let up Spearow still could not drain enough water from its feathers to move fast enough to outpace Salandit and it was quite unfortunate for the bird as the salamander was in no mood to show the bird a moment of mercy after being pecked. As she extended her claws she crawled towards the bird while trying to avoid as much rain and mud as she could. The rain might have weakened her main option for dealing with her foes but her claws were not weakened in any way by the rain as she scratched the bird across the chest leaving another small cut and causing quite a bit of pain as Spearow managed to land a peck attack on Salandit's tail causing moderate damage while also enraging her. Salandit being quick as ever was able to scratched the bird again as soon as her tail was free from the birds grasp as the pain from the poison forced Spearow to let go. It was a very costly error as the bird was not feeling well even before the second scratch but after suffering another scratch it was running out of time and options. It managed to chase down Salandit while she rested from her second attack and peck her tail again though it did not do enough damage to knock her out and worse yet a second round of the effects of poison put the bird in the danger zone of being knocked out soon if luck went against it in the next round. Even so the bird refused to back down from the fight it wanted still clinging to the hope of a miracle to turn the battle around. With yet another round about to start however that hope would not last long if there was not a serious change of weather really soon. Battle Weather: Rain Spearow | LV 9 HP: 42% (12/28) Status: Poisoned! Used Peck x2!! VS
Salandit | LV 10 | Corrosion HP: 37% (12/32) Status: Normal Used Scratch x2

Venom continued to look on as his Salandit did battle against the wild Spearow, seeing that there was a rather good back and forth going on between the two. The ninja was kind of impressed with the bird Pokémon for a moment, but only for a moment. Venom knew that this exchange of blows wouldn't last long, as the poison was slowly but surely taking it's toll on the Flying type Pokémon. The battle would turn in Salandit's favor soon. That was Venom's thought, as he called for her next move. "Keep the pressure on high Salandit! Use Scratch attack again!" The salamander Pokémon was starting to get a little tired, and the rain really wasn't helping, but she still had every intention of ending this battle as the victor. "Sala! Sala!" She once again bared her claws, and crawled straight towards Spearow, striking at the bird Pokémon for the third time since the battle began.

The rain was still coming down as the next round started which only made Spearow's hopes of winning this battle get less and less likely along with the amount of poison damage it had suffered. To make things even worse Salandit had already started to charge towards it with her claws extended ready to strike again before the bird could get ready to strike. As Salandit scored another direct hit with Scratch the Spearow cried out in pain as its health hit a dangerously low level even without the poison taking effect yet. The next time Salandit scored a hit the battle would likely be over and SPearow knew it had to score a lucky hit here. With its beak aimed right at the salamander's head Spearow unleashed a powerful Peck as Salandit also cried out in pain as the two Pokemon were both very low on health. The rain did not help either Pokemon much but the poison still coursing through Spearow's body drained even more health as the bird nearly fell over from the pain but somehow found enough strength to stay standing with almost no hope barring some kind of miracle now. Spearow had picked a tough fight like it wanted but it never anticipated that it would be a down to the wire match like this. Neither Pokemon could take another hit but as Spearow was slower only luck could give it a chance to win now. With the next round looming however luck did not appear to be something the Spearow had enough of as Salandit was ready to deliver the final blow. Battle Weather: Rain Spearow | LV 9 HP: 17% (5/28) Status: Poisoned! Used Peck!! VS
Salandit | LV 10 | Corrosion HP: 15% (5/32) Status: Normal Used Scratch!

With both Pokémon having reached their limits, Venom knew that the next round would decide the outcome of this battle. He could see that both Pokémon were exhausted, and that neither one of them would last much longer. Both Salandit and Spearow were panting heavily, as the rain continued to fall over the two Pokémon. Venom knew very well that Salandit was the faster Pokémon between the two of them, but being the kind of trainer he was, he always preferred to air on the side of caution. So the Poison type trainer reached into his bag, pulled out a single potion, and ran over to Salandit's side, kneeling down to her. "Here Salandit, take this. I have no doubt you'll win, but it pains me to see you struggling like this."
Venom then sprayed Salandit with the potion, restoring some of her lost hit points instantly. The toxic lizard Pokémon winced at first, as the potion stung her a little bit. But the pain quickly faded away, and Salandit felt much better then she did a minute ago. "Salandit. Sala." Salandit turned to her trainer, and gave him a smile, very grateful for his medical attention. The ninja smiled back at his Pokémon, and nodded at her as well, happy to be of help. "Think nothing of it Salandit. Now go finish off that Spearow. Use Scratch attack one more time." Now full of energy, Salandit turned to her opponent once again, and started crawling towards it, her claws ready for one final strike. "Salandit! Salandit!"

Both combatants were low on stamina but Salandit had the benefit of a trainer by her side. Once Venom signaled for the little bandit to retreat a bit for a rejuvenating potion Spearow cawed aggressively. The wild pokémon immediately set off in chase of that wriggling tail. The rain made flying a little more effort than the bird liked, weighing it down plenty enough for the healing item to be used and the poisonous lizard to reel back around for the fight. Though, once she had spun around to face the spearow she'd find it's beak right at the tip of her nose. She couldn't escape a rough scrape across her cheek but it wasn't even a flicker on her mind as her eyes locked onto the drenched bird and made her move immediately in followup. Near instinctively she reached out with her outside paw and let the bird's own momentum do the work as her claws dug into a tuft of feather. Spearow lost all balance and tumbled to the ground, rolling a little in the grass after the devastating hit. A decided victory. Spearow could barely see straight after that. Utterly defeated the hungry bird squawked weakly before flapping laboriously away. VICTORY!

As with all of his Pokémon, Venom was more then happy to help Salandit win her battle. But even more then that, he was pleased to see her achieve victory, and become even more powerful. Ignoring the rain, he walked over to her, knelt down to her, and gave her a congratulatory pat on top of her head. "You got stronger again. Im proud of you Salandit." The toxic lizard Pokémon smiled, happy to receive such praise from her trainer. "Sala. Sala." Then she let out a long yawn, and crawled up onto his shoulder, curling up in his scarf for some rest. Venom didn't protest at all, and smiled at her as she did all of this, as he stood back up on his feet.
The ninja then took a moment to look around the city streets of Cherrygrove City, wondering if any other wild Pokémon were out and about during this downpour. Ideally, he wanted Salandit to win just one more battle before heading for the Alolan trial, hoping she'd learn one more new move before then. Venom wasn't sure what kind of Pokémon they'd find next, but that didn't really matter to him. He was confident that Salandit could take on any challenger this city could muster up. And so, the purple haired trainer continued to walk through the Cherrygrove city streets, keeping his wits about him, waiting for Salandit's next and final challenger to show itself. As he walked, Venom did his best to stay out of the rain, not wanting to disturb Salandit's slumber until it was time to battle.

Venom's attempts to stay out of the rain paid off as the skies finally stooped their downpour though a gray cloud layer left the city looking rather gloomy despite its usually colorful appearance. The end of the terrible rain storm was quite a welcoming piece of news especially for the flying types who were weighed down by the rain decreasing their ability to fly as effectively. One such Pokemon had been sitting in a tree waiting out the storm when it saw the young ninja with Salandit on his back. The odd looking poison type was too rare a sight for Taillow to avoid as it was a very curious bird. It hopped down from a branch and landed on the street as it tried to get Venom's attention. When it saw a puddle left over from the rain it thought that the sound of splashing would make a great attention grabber as it jumped it. Taillow was not a huge fan of getting wet but if it meant getting a chance to face off with a rare Pokemon it was not above putting up with water for a bit longer. The drab weather was not much better than the rain anyway so a battle would be a great way to make up for such a dreary day. As it splashed around hoping to get the ninja's attention the small amount of sunlight piercing through the clouds gave the bird some hope that its efforts were not going to be in vein. Only time would be able to tell if its plan had worked or not but Taillow was at least thankful for the change in weather as it was well and truly sick of the rain. A wild Taillow (Level 8) appeared. Please select a Pokemon or would you like to run?

As soon as the rain finally stopped, Venom looked up at the sky, and got a smile on his face. He then came out of hiding, and took a moment to look around at the new weather phenomenon. It may not have looked like anything special, but Venom knew one thing for sure. Salandit could finally use her Ember attack, without fear of it being weakened by their environment. This was good news for the ninja and his venomous companion, but bad news for whoever their next opponent would be. And as luck would have it, their next opponent was already upon them.
Venom's keen senses picked up on Taillow's presence the moment it flew down from it's perch on the tree, as the ninja turned to face it, following the sounds of it's wings. The Poison type trainer then took a moment to let the tiny swallow Pokémon try to get their attention, splashing around in a puddle and such. Venom had already noticed the bird long before it started jumping around in the water. Venom was just messing with the wild Taillow a little, wanting to see how long it would keep this up, while laughing to himself a bit. After a minute and a half, Venom gave Salandit a gentle nudge to wake her up. "Sorry to disturb you again Salandit, but your next opponent is here." At the sound of her trainer's voice, Salandit stirred from her slumber. "Salaaaaaaaa…"
The Poison/Fire type Pokémon let out a long yawn, then jumped down from Venom's shoulder, taking a moment to collect herself. The first thing she noticed was that the weather had changed, much to her joy, since she didn't like the rain that fell over Cherrygrove City a few short moments ago. As her vision finally came into focus, Salandit's eyes fell on the wild Taillow that stood before her. Still fairly new to the world, Salandit's curiosity grew at the sight of this new Pokémon, much in the same way that Taillow's did when it saw her. Seeing that Salandit was ready to battle, Venom pointed at the Flying type, and made his first command. "Glad your ready Salandit. Now use your Poison Gas attack!" Hearing her trainer's order, Salandit had done like she had several times prior. The toxic lizard Pokémon breathed in deeply, then sprayed a large cloud of her toxic gas at the wild Taillow. "Salandit! Dit!"

Taillow's lack of experience against Salandit showed up rather quickly as the bird hopped towards the Salamander just as she fired off her Poison Gas attack. The cloud surrounded the bird within seconds filling its lungs with the dangerous fumes leaving the bird with poison as a result but not doing any damage directly. Things had not started off very well for Taillow but unlike Spearow before it this bird had a secret move that might just help overcome the clock it was not up against. As Taillow cleared its lungs enough to breath it pumped out its chest and stared directly at Salandit with incredible focus. Nothing was going to get the bird to take its focus off of Salandit and the increase in focus boosted the chance of a critical hit. Neither attack had directly done damage in the first round but Taillow did start to feel the effects of the poison as its health dropped a bit from the affliction. It was not too worrying at the moment but Taillow had no way to recover from poison so it knew speed was the only hope it had of winning this battle. Unlike the Spearrow that Salandit had defeated in the last battle the boosted critical hit ratio that Taillow had could quickly allow it to make up for some lost time if it got lucky with one of its attacks. The bird just had to hope the lack of rain would not come back to haunt it too badly as Salandit's fire type moves would have full strength this battle. With that one fear in its mind Taillow got ready to strike without mercy in the next round as that was its only real option now. If things did not go as planned however the early mistake of getting itself afflicted by poison might come back to haunt it. Wild Battle Weather: Clear Taillow | LV 8 HP: 88% (23/26) Status: Poisoned! Critical Hit +2 Used Focus Energy!! VS
Salandit | LV 12 | Corrosion HP: 100% (37/37) Status: Normal Used Poison Gas

Just like all of her previous battles since emerging from her egg, Salandit was doing fine so far. Her poison never disappointed Venom even once, but when he saw that sudden rise in Taillow's focus, Venom began to feel a little uneasy. He had planned to use his running shoes like he did before, and have Salandit use her Ember attack twice in a row in the next round. But now he wasn't so sure, and started to have some doubts that his toxic lizard Pokémon would survive two critical hits in a row, provided the wild Taillow was lucky enough to get two in a row of course. The Poison type trainer knew that Salandit was at a higher level then Taillow, and by no means did he doubt her strength, but he just couldn't shake these concerns, as the second and possibly final round of this battle drew ever closer. Venom quickly took some time to think it over and consider his options, before finally arriving at a decision.
"Salandit, show no fear! This battle is yours to win! Now get fired up, and show me and Taillow a double dose of your Ember attack!" Deciding to put his trust in his Poison/Fire type companion, Venom gave Salandit her order, hoping that it was the right one. Salandit heard her trainer's command, and started to concentrate, building up the fire within herself. She'd not used her Ember attack since learning it even once, so this was still very new to her, as she started to feel a heat rising up from inside of her, getting hotter and hotter by the second. This heat travelled up Salandit's throat, and into her mouth, until it finally reached it's peak. "Salan...dit!" Salandit opened her mouth up wide, and let loose her first ever Ember attack, aimed right at the wild Flying type Pokémon.
