It didn't take Venom very long to make his way back to Cherrygrove City, as he jumped down from the last tree before there was before the city entrance. Having gone back and forth between the first three major area of Johto, Venom was starting to get a strong sense of deja vu, but he didn't mind it all that much. He knew that it wouldn't take him much longer to finish up his work in the area, and then it was off to Azalea Town. But before that, he and Salandit had to locate the site of the second Alolan trial. Fortunately, thanks to his first visit to Cherrygrove City, while he was looking for his Ekans, Venom had built up a pretty good mental picture of the city. With that image in his head, he figured that the trial site wasn't anywhere in the city.
Therefore, the Poison type trainer turned, and walked out of the city, onto the grass of route 30. Given all the information he'd collected about the Johto region so far, Venom was fairly confident that this is where the second trial was located. He'd travelled up and down this route before, on his way to Violet City, but he'd never really taken the time to explore it before, so he wasn't a hundred percent sure, but it was the best lead he had at this time. As he and Salandit entered the route, the two took the time to take it all in, observing the scenery and wild Pokémon that called this route home. "Salandit. Sala. Dit." Salandit was the first to comment on it, and Venom nodded before speaking up. "Yeah, I know Salandit, but we cant lose sight of our goal right now. That trial has got to be around here somewhere." The ninja reminded her, and the two kept their eyes peeled as Venom kept walking through the route.

As Venom and Salandit walked down route 30 the sights and sounds of the route proved to be quite distracting as Salandit reacted to everything going on and though Venom managed to get her to stay focused on the task at hand he had no idea just how close he was to his goal as just a few seconds after he spoke to Salandit he heard a familiar voice. " Alola, it is nice to see you again. I take it you are here for the second trial." Maui asked as she waited for the young ninja to respond. They were a bit off the beaten path but she still wanted to make sure he was actually there for the trial before continuing on with the rules of the trial. After waiting a moment however she was confident enough to start going over the rules of this trial. " Like your first trial you are only allowed 3 Pokemon while the others stay with me however the level cap for this trial is a bit higher than your first one as the Pokemon in this trial are a bit stronger. Besides that however the rest of the rules are the same as your first trial." She said as she waited for Venom to select the Pokemon he would use this time around. As she waited she started to hum softly to pass a bit of time until she realized she had forgotten to mention one more thing about this trial. " I forgot to mention one thing, your prize this time will be quite a bit different from the first trial so I can promise you this trial will be worth the effort."Now that she could not think of anything else to say until after Venom selected his Pokemon she paitently awaited his choices wondering which Pokemon he would use this time. Would you like to undergo the Cherrygrove City Alola Trial? If so please select 3 Pokemon. The level cap for obeying your orders in this trial is level 18.

Venom and Salandit saw many new things as they continued their search for the trial, but Venom came to a stop when he heard a familiar voice. The purple haired trainer turned in the direction of the voice, and was very surprised to see the elderly woman he'd met during his previous trial. "Oh, Maui. Its very nice to see you again. Yes, I came here for my second trial." Venom answered her, not sure how she'd gotten this far so quickly, but decided not to ask, as he just wanted to get his second trial started. "Sala. Sala." Salandit gave her a smile and a greeting, happy to see the elderly woman again, even if it hadn't been that long since she'd last seen her. Trainer and Pokémon then listened to what Maui had to say, and Venom gave her a nod, understanding the rules. "I see. I expected that. For this trial, Ill go with Salandit, Venipede, and Golbat."
Based on the location of this trial, Venom guessed he'd face some Grass type Pokémon this time. True, all of his Pokémon were Poison types, and had a clear advantage over Grass type Pokémon, he figured it wouldn't hurt to have a little more of an advantage, just to be safe. Fire, Bug, and Flying type Pokémon all had an edge over Grass types as well. The ninja knew his Pokémon might not obey him this time too, but that still made no difference to him. Venom came for a Z Ring and a Z crystal, and going by Maui's clue as to this trial's reward, Venom guessed that's exactly what he'd get for completing this trial. "Thank you for all your help Maui. We're ready. What do we do first?" Venom asked her, eager to get started. "Salandit! Salandit!" The toxic lizard on his shoulder lit her back on fire, a clear sign that she was just as eager as her trainer.
OOC: Im well aware of the level cap for obedience in this trial. I ready the rules. Thanks for the heads up though. Ill take my chances. Venom will go with his Salandit, Venipede, and Golbat. Please start the trial.

After Venom made his selection Maui took the extra Pokeball's for safe keeping until after his trial was over then she responded to his question. " For this trial you must first locate the guide Pokemon at the end of this small path, a sign there will give you the first step you will need to complete for the trial, I wish you the best of luck." She said as Venom made his way down the small path. After a short walk he could see a small pink and green Pokemon known as Hoppip next to the sign Maui mentioned. He then read the sign which stated the following: " Greetings trainer, your task is to help cure the status infliction this guide Pokemon currently suffers from. There are 5 trees behind this sign with different berries one of which will cure its condition. Find and feed this berry to the guide Pokemon to continue your trial." Though the sign claimed the guide Pokemon had a status condition nothing looked to be out of the ordinary. The sound the Hoppip was making did seem a bit odd though as if it was snoring. It was hard to say for certain however as its eyes were wide open despite the strange noise. Whatever the condition may be Venom would need to pick one of the berries mentioned by the sign before he would be able to progress in the trial. OOC: I was pretty sure you were aware but I just wanted to post it just to be safe and for anyone who mods your thread to be aware as well. Good luck with your trial.

Venom listened to Maui's directions, handing her Ivysaur's and Arbok's poke balls as he did. Then, having received his instructions, Venom turned in the direction of the path she mentioned. "Thank you Maui. Just like before, please take good care of my Pokémon. We'll be back soon." The Poison type trainer started walking down the path, while the small Poison/Fire type on his shoulder smiled, and waved goodbye to Maui. "Sala. Salandit." Venom and Salandit didn't have to travel very far, as they stopped once they found the sign the elderly woman had spoken of, as well as what they assumed to be their guide Pokémon. "I guess this is the place." Venom said out loud, and Salandit nodded in agreement. "Sala."
The ninja then walked over to the sign, and read the message inscribed on it, nodding as soon as he'd finished. Venom knew all about status conditions, as well as berries, and the effects they had on Pokémon. However, upon closer inspection of the wild Hoppip, Venom started to feel like he needed a Prism berry. It looked like the Grass type Pokémon was asleep with its eyes wide open, leaving the trainer and his Pokémon scratching their heads in confusion. Venom decided to walk over to the trees anyway, and he quickly ruled out the Pecha berry, since Hoppip clearly wasn't poisoned. He also figured the Pinap and Wepear berries probably weren't right either, being that they were mainly used for things like Pokeblock and poffins.
This left Venom with two choices, Prism berry or Chesto berry. Given Hoppip's snoring, most would probably go with the Chesto berry, but Venom was having some doubts. Could it really be that simple? Or did whoever set up this trial put this in as a kind of trick? The purple haired young man knew from multiple past experiences that when it comes to Pokémon, confusion status can be very unpredictable. Venom took a few minutes to think it over, then let out a sigh, grabbing a Chesto berry off of its tree. "Well, sometimes the simplest solution is the right one. Worst case scenario, we're stalled for a bit." Venom said to Salandit, and himself, then walks over to Hoppip with his berry of choice in hand. This wasn't the first time Venom had fed a sleeping or confused Pokémon, as he knelt down to Hoppip, and carefully fed the Chesto berry to it, hoping he made the right choice.
OOC: Its cool. Thanks March. Venom has chosen to give the Chesto berry to Hoppip.

Hoppip's eyes remained closed as it unconsciously sniffed the berry in Venom's hand. Still asleep, it leaned forward and began to slowly nibble on the tough rind of the Chesto Berry. It swallowed and snorted at the dry taste in its mouth. Blinking sheepishly, the yellow pupils of the Cottonweed Pokemon revealed themselves. Venom had chosen correctly! The leaves on its head began to rotate, lifting the pink Pokemon gently off the ground. The breeze blew it backwards towards the centre of Trial Site where the berries grew. Hoppip looked expectantly at Venom as though ready for a battle. Hoppip (Level 12) wishes to battle!

Venom and Salandit watched as the small Grass type ate the berry they had offered to it, then waited for a reaction. The second the Hoppip sprang to life, Venom gave it a smile, happy he'd chosen correctly. The ninja stood back on his feet after that, and turned to watch Hoppip catch a gentle breeze that took it over to the berry trees. Venom and Salandit were both ready and willing to move on, following their guide Pokémon, but stopped in their tracks as they witnessed the expression Hoppip had given them. "Oh, so you want a battle first then? Very well, we'll take you on. Ready Salandit?" Venom asked his partner, already grinning at the challenge they'd been given. "Sala. Sala." The toxic lizard Pokémon responded to her master's question, then jumped off his shoulder, facing Hoppip with an equally battle ready look in her eyes.
As the two Pokémon faced off, Venom began to formulate a strategy in his head, which wasn't very hard. He knew better then anyone that Salandit, a Poison/Fire type, had an overwhelming advantage over a Grass type like Hoppip. Although, while this was true, the Poison type trainer still wanted to see if he and Salandit could end this battle in one shot, just like they did against the Bidoof from their last trial. Plus, he knew from his research that a Hoppip at this level didn't have any moves that would pose a problem for Salandit. "Alright Salandit, lets see if we can end this in one move! Use your Dragon Rage!" Venom called for Salandit's most powerful attack, and his Pokémon was quick to start building up energy for it inside her mouth. "Sala! Salandit!" Using all of her power, Salandit spewed a torrent of blue flames in Hoppip's direction, following her master's orders.

Hoppip continued to stare blankly at the ninja and his toxic lizard, curious as to why they were there. It thought happily about the dream it was having while asleep, drifting peacefully in a meadow of Gracidea flowers, following its friend Shaymin. Snapping back to reality, Hoppip realised it was now engulfed in an inferno of blue flames. Oh well, this is fine... it thought. Wild Encounter [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Hoppip LV 12 HP 0% [0/34] [attr="class","qkt-wild-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Salandit LV 17 HP 100% [48/48] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] Salandit gained 1 level and is now level 18! She also gained happiness! Waiting until the flames finally burnt themselves out, the scorched Pokemon coughed up ash from its lungs and started to hop away towards the line of trees. As Venom followed in pursuit, the ninja was led to a second clearing with six different paths leading out of it. Above each path hung a sign with a scorch mark on it. Looking closely, one could almost make out the shape of a Pokemon. In the middle of the clearing there also appeared to be the remnants of a floral arrangements but they had been set ablaze, leaving a smouldering mess. The word "EVOLVE" was barely visible among the ashes. It looks like Salandit unwittingly had set the whole forest alight! Path A: Path B: Path C: Path D: Path E: Path F: Which path will Venom follow?

The speed and outcome of his battle weren't all that surprising to Venom, but he was still very pleased by Salandit's strength and performance. However, there was no time for congratulations, as the trainer and his Pokémon observed the wild Hoppip floating off to another part of the forest, catching them both by surprise. "Hey wait! Come back! Lets follow it Salandit!" Venom thought for sure that this Hoppip was supposed to be their guide Pokémon, so watching it suddenly fly off was very surprising and confusing. "Sala!" Salandit followed her trainer's orders, and quickly ran up onto his shoulder, hanging onto him tightly. Once Salandit was secure, Venom gave chase, following the Hoppip into a new area. Venom had lost sight of the Hoppip, but this new area was far more puzzling to him anyway.
The ninja was quick to notice all the scorch marks and burns some of the trees and flowers of this new area, and it made him sweat a little, realizing that this was their handy work. "I think we might've overdone it with your Dragon Rage attack Salandit." The Poison/Fire type Pokémon nervously scratches the back of her head, and laughs a bit in response. "Sala. Sala. Sala." Venom lets out a sigh, then walks over to the signs this area had. "Well, it doesn't look that bad. I don't think it'll get any worse, so lets see what this area has to offer." With all his training and experience, it was easy for Venom to make out the Pokémon in the pictures on the signs. At first, he wondered what they meant, but he found a clue when he discovered the word "EVOLVE" among the burnt debris.
The Poison type trainer and his Pokémon partner still weren't entirely sure on which path they should take, but given the clues they'd found, Venom had a pretty good idea. "Evolve, huh? Well, the only Pokémon we've seen so far has been Hoppip, and Hoppip evolves into Skiploom, then evolves again into Jumpluff." Venom explained out loud, and as luck would have it, one of the signs had a picture of a Jumpluff on it. Neither Venom, nor Salandit had any better ideas at this point, so they both agreed to take their chances with the Jumpluff path. Hoping that the flames wouldn't get any worse while they were gone, Venom ran down the Jumpluff marked path. Given the circumstances and clues up to this point, and his previous trial still fresh in his mind, Venom began to have some suspicions that the totem Pokémon for this trail would turn out to be a Jumpluff.
OOC: Venom has chosen to follow path E.

The path that Venom had chosen led towards yet another clearing surrounded on all sides by tightly bunched trees and vegetation. It appeared as though in the centre of the clearing was a meadow filled with pink-coloured flowers. Could this be what the Guide Pokemon had been dreaming about? When Venom approached, several pink, green and blue shapes floated down gently from above. One of the pinkish shapes was still covered in soot and ash from a previous ordeal and must be the Guide that the ninja had been pursuing all this time. The Hoppip drifted in front of Venom and his Salandit and deposited a small berry on the ground in front of them. Perhaps it was a gift or reward for making it this far. Venom received Cheri Berry! However, the Trial was not quite over yet. In the centre of the clearing stood a pedestal displaying a bracelet-like item as well as a green crystal. This must be what Venom had come for! Hovering above the pedestal, however, was a giant Pokemon, much larger than its compatriots. The blue Pokemon glided forward like a large blimp carried by its three cotton puffs. They were the size of beach balls and spores began to detach themselves, filling the air with a cloud of white-coloured florets. Totem Jumpluff (level 15) challenges Venom to a battle!

Venom continued down the path he'd chosen, wondering where it would lead him. As soon as the path had opened up to a meadow, Venom came to a stop, very surprised by the sight before him. He and Salandit were in awe, seeing all the flowers, trees, and the way the sunlight shinned down upon it all. "Beautiful." Was the only word Venom could muster at this moment, and Salandit found herself in the same state as her trainer. "Sala." However, the poisonous pair snapped out of it when the hoard of Grass type Pokémon appeared from the trees, and came down to greet them. Venom smiled, very pleased to see so many friendly faces, and quickly picked out the guide Pokémon from the rest of the group.
Venom and Salandit watched, as the same Hoppip from before gave them a small gift, making Venom smile once again, as he bent down to pick it up and put it away for later. "Thank you friend. Im sorry we hurt you before." The ninja spoke to the small Grass type, bowing to it in an apologetic and grateful way. "Salandit. Dit." Salandit followed her trainer's example, and bowed right along side him. The two raised their heads after a few seconds, and their eyes fell on the pedestal in the center of the meadow, and the two objects present on it. Venom's smile returned, as he recognized the two items right away, getting excited just by looking at them. "That's it! That's them! A Z ring and a Z crystal!" The poison type trainer proclaimed, knowing that this meadow must be the final sight of the trial.
Although, despite his prizes being so close by, Venom didn't make a move to claim them, and instead proceeded to raise his guard. He knew from his previous trial that since the pedestal was here, the totem Pokémon should be as well. Not long after that, Venom and Salandit were surprised to see a huge Jumpluff floating down from the sky, quickly deducing that it was the totem Pokémon. "I guess we'll have to go through this Jumpluff first. We beat the last totem Pokémon, and we can beat this one." Venom sounded very sure of himself, but was still concerned. He knew Salandit had a clear type advantage over Jumpluff, but he also knew that just like before, there was a chance Salandit would disobey his orders during battle. Never the less, Venom had come too far to give up, and called for Salandit to face the totem Pokémon in battle. "I need your power once more Salandit! I know you can do this! Now use Dragon Rage back to back!" Venom called for two rounds of Dragon Rage, and Salandit jumped right off of his shoulder, facing Jumpluff in battle. "Salandit! Salandit!"

The totem Jumpluff was too busy to notice Venom at first as it focused on filling the sky with its florets and only stopped when it heard the young trainer speak. Once it saw Venon's Salandit getting ready to launch an attack it knew it was time to do its job as a totem Pokemon and it wasted no time in going from a peaceful Pokemon to one that gave no quarter as it started to shake it's arms. The movement of Jumpluff's arms sent a spore containing a paralyzing mix of chemicals towards Salandit who was not quite fast enough to jump out of the way as the spore entered her lungs. In hardly any time at all she could hardly breath as the spore caused her muscles to lock in place though she was determined to try and attack. Fighting with every ounce of her energy she was able to build up a ball of blue flame and fire it at Jumpluff hitting the grass type dead center bypassing its boosted special defenses and causing major damage. Jumpluff was no pushover however and a single Dragon Rage was never going to bring it down though it still hurt. Jumpluff had already made things easier on itself by paralyzing Salandit but that alone was not enough for the plant as it wanted revenge for taking so much damage from a single attack. Jumpluff leaped into the air and then dove down at a high speed using Aerial Ace to score another direct hit on Salandit before the salamander could try and strike again. When Salandit recovered from the Aerial Ace she tried to build up her energy again to finish off the sore Jumpluff but this time her body just would not allow her to move as she stood motionless watching the plant Pokemon as it mocked her for being unable to strike this time. Jumpluff had no doubt that another hit from Dragon Rage would be all it would take to end this battle and it was going to try everything in its power to prevent losing to such a sneaky attack for as long as it possibly could. After the first exchange of blows, Venom began to grit his teeth, knowing that this totem Pokémon wont go down as easily as the last one did. Salandit was started to get frustrated too, glaring at Jumpluff as she listened to the cottonweed Pokémon mocking her in her paralyzed state. Venom also hadn't expected an Aerial Ace attack from this Jumpluff, as he knew that Jumpluff couldn't learn Aerial Ace without the help of a TM. Then again, the ninja still had much to learn about these totem Pokémon, but he could now see why they were chosen to guard the rewards for these trials. If he and Salandit were going to win this challenge, they'd have to do something about Salandit's change in status before attacking again. At that moment, Venom called to mind the present he'd received from the guide Hoppip just before the battle.
The Poison type trainer quickly reached into his bag, and pulled out the Cheri berry that Hoppip had given him, now realizing that this was likely the reason for it in the first place. "Thank you Hoppip, we'll put your gift to good use." Venom said with a smile, then called out to his partner. "Salandit, here! Take this!" Using his ninja skills and accuracy, he tossed the Cheri berry over to Salandit, and it landed softly in the flowers in front of the toxic lizard Pokémon. Salandit heard her trainer's voice, then looked down in front of her, eyeing the red colored berry. "Salandit. Sala." Salandit picked up the berry in her mouth, then eagerly chewed it up, and swallowed it down. Mere seconds after that, Salandit got a big smile, happily able to move around freely again, fully cured of her paralysis.
Venom smiled at this too, happy to see his young Pokémon in perfect health once again, despite the damage she'd already taken of course. Both the trainer and his Pokémon then turned their attention back to the totem Pokémon, ready for another round. They both knew Jumpluff would likely use Stun Spore again, so they knew they'd have to make their next move count. "That ring and crystal are ours Salandit! Show this totem Pokémon that a Grass type is no match for a Poison type! Use Dragon Rage one more time!" Not a Poison type move, yes, but Venom knew that it would get his point across. He just hoped that it would work, knowing that Salandit wont be able to take too many of those Aerial Ace attacks. Thankfully, even if things took a turn for the worse for Salandit, Venom still had Venipede and Golbat to take over for her.
OOC: Cheri berry used on Salandit before attacking.

Hopip's gift in the form of a Cherri Berry had played a vital role in the battle as it successfully cured Salandit from her state of paralysis that the Jumpluff's Stun Spore attack had inflicted upon her. Jumpluff took this opportunity whilst her opponent was recovering to go on the offensive, much like before Jumpluff leapt into the air and then dove down at a very high speed using her Aerial Ace attack, the flying type move collided directly with the toxic lizard pokemon, the attacks were beginning to take their toll as Salandit did not appear to be in as good a shape as when the battle had begun.
Venom's Salandit was preparing it's Dragon Rage move to finish Jumpluff off once and for all, a tactic that had worked in previous battles for the duo, Jumpluff's speed advantage however was a vital cog within the battle as the cotton weed pokemon leapt high into the air and descended directly towards Salandit, it was once again using it's Aerial Ace attack, a strategy that had so far proven to be beneficial. Jumpluff's Aerial Ace attack was a direct hit, much like her previous attempts at the manoeuvre and it left Venom's Salandit in a great deal of pain, the moves had certainly taking their toll upon the toxic lizard pokemon.
Salandit was determined to finish the battle despite the injuries she had sustained from Jumpluff's onslaught of attacks. Salandit built up a ball of blue flame, this attack contained every morsel of energy that she had available to spare as she and fired it towards Jumpluff. The totem pokemon frantically tried to avoid the oncoming attack, it had a menace effect upon her the last time it had hit and she was scared beyond belief that this would be the end for her. Salandit's Dragon Rage attack connected directly in the centre of Jumpluff's body as the totem pokemon went unconscious and fell to the ground below, she had tried her best and had come very close to winning the battle and was proud of her own efforts.
Venom's Salandit was a menacing opponent that was already wrecking havoc upon the alolan trial scene that had been established recently in the Johto Region, it was clear though that the Totem Pokemon Jumpluff had given the toxic lizard pokemon her hardest challenge so far. Salandit appeared to be happy with the result of the battle, the vital experience that it had gained against such a tough opponent would benefit her greatly. With the path to Z-Ring and Grassium Z no longer blocked by the totem pokemon Venom would now be able to retrieve them.

For a moment or two, Venom thought he'd have to switch Pokémon, as he wasn't sure if Salandit could take another hit like the ones the totem Pokémon had been giving her. But when Jumpluff was the first one to fall to the ground, Venom let out a small gasp, in a state of shock for a few seconds. When it finally wore off, Venom got a big smile on his face, and was unable to contain his excitement in that moment. "Alright! Way to go Salandit!" The ninja praised his small Pokémon, very impressed by her level of strength and determination, especially since she only hatched from her egg recently. "Sala...Salandit…" Salandit smiled, happy to receive such praise from her trainer, but then fell to ground after taking several deep breaths, having reached her limit during her battle against the totem Jumpluff. Seeing this, Venom calmed down, walked over to Salandit, and gently picked her up in his arms.
"Salandit, Im very proud of you. We won these two trials because of you. Your a lot stronger then you look, and Im very happy to have you with us on Team Toxic. Now get a good rest. You've earned it." Venom spoke to his Pokémon, smiling at her, then called her back to her Poke Ball for some rest. After that, the purple haired trainer turned his attention to the pedestal where the Z Ring and Z crystal were still perched. Venom walked over, and looked down at them for a moment before picking both of the items up. The Poison type trainer put the Z Ring on his right wrist, then placed the Z crystal into the slot on top of it, taking a moment to admire both of the items. Based on the symbol on the green crystal, and all the Grass type Pokémon he'd seen during this trial, Venom quickly deduced that the Z crystal he'd won was a Grassium Z.
"It may not be the Poison type Z crystal I was hoping for, but Im sure Ivysaur and I can still make full use of this crystal. I cant wait to show this to dad and Janine one day." Venom said to himself, excited to show his prize to his family, and collect even more Z crystals over the course of his journey through Johto. With his trial now completed, Venom took one last look at the meadow of flowers, and gave the wild Pokémon that lived there one more smile. "Thank you all for your help and support, and for this Z Ring and Z crystal too. Im sorry I hurt your totem Pokémon, but she should be fine with some rest. She's strong, and all of you can be too. Take care of yourselves." The trainer waves goodbye to all the wild Grass types, then turned, leaving their meadow. Before moving forward in his journey, Venom decided to head back to the starting point of the trial, and see Maui once more, as he wondered if the elderly woman had any more information or advice to offer him.
