{ } Arriving in a city full of ancient tradition and historical buildings, Amaryllis would walk upon the stone brick streets of the city while there was little people around during the day. Beyond the bridge up north was the ever famous Sprout Tower, renowned for housing the wise monks who trained there. She thought it would be wise to have a visit herself, so she made her way across the small bridge to the entrance of the tall tower. Its magnificence was something to behold and the history behind it was even more interesting. Her Hoothoot followed behind her with a few hops as he was hooting excitedly. The beaming sun was shining down from the clear, blue sky as she proceeded to enter the tower. The female trainer was greeted with the sight of beige colored walls and a wooden floor. Chronos peeked out from behind her as his red eyes gazed upon the simple, but ancient room. It was quiet, almost too quiet for a tower normally being occupied by monks though the tower itself was a training ground. Perfect for a beginner trainer like herself to make her team of bird Pokemon much stronger. OOC: @staff | Switching out Dion for Mamotte from Amaryllis' box | 196 words for egg MADE BY VEL OF GS

There was a quietness in the air, when Amaryllis entered the tower, but listening more closely the sound of voices were present just on the other side of the faintly moving pillar at the center of the room. It wasn't immediate obvious what the talk was about, but something cracked, and it almost sounded like fire in a hearth with small pops of burning wood every now and then. "Stop it!" A raised voice said clearly the next moment, and if Amaryllis had been curious enough to walk around the pillar, she would see two monks facing off against a single Cyndaquil with their Bellsprouts. "Try to understand, Cyndaquil," the same voice as before was saying. It was the monk to the left, and he was pleading with the Cyndaquil. "We can not allow you to continue this way, when you haven't learned anything from your last visits." The Cyndaquil stood blazing with smoke and fire crackling on its back, and it squealed in agitation at the monk's words and made a dash for the stairs behind them, only to be immediately stopped by a lash from one of the Bellsprouts. The monk to the left hadn't seen Amaryllis come round the pillar, but the one on the right spotted her and offered her a tired smile. "Oh, a visitor? I'm sorry, miss, but we can't offer our services right now. As you can see we have our hands full." His point was illustrated by the Cyndaquil making another dash, this time to the right, and the other Bellsprout's vines lashed across the floor to block its path. The Cyndaquil twittered and scolded, and then whined when one of the lashes hit it across the nose. It looked like it had already taken a few of those hits. The right monk winced at the sound, but tried to keep his attention on Amaryllis. "We've been trying to teach this Cyndaquil about teamwork, but it refuses to listen. All it cares about is beating it's rival alone." He gave the Cyndaquil a pitiful look. "Unfortunately, until it learns, we can't allow it to proceed."The Cyndaquil backed off a bit and shook itself while glaring at the Bellsprouts blocking its path. The two monks watched it in anticipation, and maybe a bit of hope it might give up yet, but then the Cyndaquil barrelled forward, and the left monk yelled with frustration: "Will you just stop it already! You aren't getting past us so long you don't take to our lessons!" His Bellsprout punctuated the words by catching the Cyndaquil in its vines this time and holding it in place, obviously enduring the pain of holding on to something so fiery. The monk to the right rubbed his eyes. "It would be so much easier if it had a friend to work with..." he mumbled, and then he looked up at Amaryllis, like something had crossed his mind with startling clarity. "You wouldn't by any chance be willing to help us out? It would allow us to help you train too. If you can figure out a way to make the Cyndaquil work with you..." Sprout Tower

{ } As the monks would explain their situation to the young lady, it would seem that this Cyndaquil had been stubbornly fighting the monks for hours on end just to have a shot at its rival. It was doing so alone, and without a partner to help it, Cyndaquil's situation was not going to look good. The monks began to offer their help if she could convince the Cyndaquil to work with her. "You raise a good point. If Cyndaquil has been adamantly refusing to work together with a partner, perhaps we shall aid it in its quest to progress further." As she would say this, Chronos began to hop forward as he would look up at the restrained Cyndaquil. He blinked once before turning his gaze back at his trainer. "Start with Peck, Chronos!" Using his short and stubby wings, the brown owl Pokemon began his flight towards the Bellsprout holding the Cyndaquil in place as he would let his beak do the talking. If she had to convince Cyndaquil to take down the Bellsprout guarding the place, she might as well free it from its restraints first. Although she was a future master of bird Pokemon, the very first step was helping a Pokemon in need from a much dire situation. Working alone in that regard wasn't going to help the Cyndaquil at all, and if it had been solitary from the start, it must've suffered from not having a partner to work alongside with. It was why she was doing everything she could to make it see that teamwork was more effective than working alone all by itself. OOC: @staff | 270 words for egg MADE BY VEL OF GS

Cyndaquil was quite a proud Pokemon but it could not pass up the chance to score an easy strike against its rivals and as it saw Chronos hop forward to help it in battle the fire type knew exactly what it should do in order to take advantage of the situation. As the young Hoothoot hopped towards the Bellsprout holding it Cyndaquil managed to aim its mouth towards the plant and fired off an Ember attack scoring a direct hit while leaving Bellsprout open to a strike by Chronos right afterwards. As the Peck attack scored a direct hit Chow's Bellsprout was left on the ground knocked out on the first turn as he stood stunned by the results. " Well that is not exactly what I had in mind but it does appear that Cyndaquil knows how to take advantage of having a partner even if it was not planning on working with them. So much for me getting a chance to train, Jin it is down to you now. That Cyndaquil sure is tough when it uses opportunities presented to it. He said as he thought he might start to cry being so embarrassed by the quick defeat. Jin was not exactly optimistic as he knew the fiery Pokemon was quite a handful even without help. " Cyndaquil do you now see just how useful a partner can be, realize it or not that combo was quite impressive to pull off, this trainer might just be what you need to realize your full strength. A combo like that might even give our elder trouble. I do not know how you have done it young lady but this Cyndaquil seems to have quick;y taken advantage of your help despite its nature. It may just be a stroke of luck but whatever it was sure worked out for it this round." As Jin awaited Amaryllis's next move things were looking quite bleak for the pair of monks. vs. Sages Jin & Chow

{ } With one Bellsprout knocked out thanks to both her Hoothoot and the Cyndaquil's teamwork, there was only one more Bellsprout to defeat. This Cyndaquil was certainly a proud Pokemon, but it had used that opportunity to help Chonos knock out its opponent as the monks were not expecting that situation to happen. Chronos hooted happily at this good turn of events, perhaps he might just help convince Cyndaquil that it would need a little bit of help reaching to the top of this three story high tower. This victory of his didn't last as Chronos was later whipped by the other sage's Bellsprout's vines, prompting him to shut his red eyes in pain. Her Hoothoot would wait for her next order as he looked over at the Cyndaquil who seemed to be doing just fine. "My own combo was to help free Cyndaquil out of its binds, but now for my next trick, use Peck again, Chronos!" The young owl Pokemon lifted himself off the ground by flapping his stubby wings, and propelled himself forward towards the other monk's Bellsprout. She could not tell if the proud Pokemon realized it needed a partner to help it on its quest, but maybe it was just starting to learn the lessons being taught by the monks themselves. "Cyndaquil, you may have been trying to fight them by yourself for a long while, but the monks are right to teach you a lesson in teamwork. Without a partner to help take down your enemies, you cannot reach the top this way. You can only go so far before you become outnumbered, so please allow me to help you on your quest to defeat your rival." Amaryllis said her piece to the little fire-type Pokemon. It was probably an admirable goal to defeat its rival solo, but strength in numbers was what truly shone during a battle involving another Pokemon's help. Though it was painful for Cyndaquil to admit Amaryllis did seem to be a pretty good partner as Chronos had been an excellent partner up to this point. The young fire type was still not sure if it could trust Amaryllis yet or not but as she ordered Chronos to attack again Cyndaquil decided to try out the same combo that worked so well the first time. Chow saw it coming but as neither his defeated Bellsprout or Jin's healthy one were fast enough to react he doubted his warning would carry any weight. " Jin look out here comes that same combo again, our plans to train will be ruined if they pull it off a second time." Just after the last word left his mouth Cyndaquil was in range to strike. It took aim at Bellsprout and fired off another Ember attack scoring a direct hit causing Jin to panic. Bellsprout no, we are in deep trouble if you do not dodge the next attack."[/font] The fire type attack had drained too much of its energy however and as it tried to jump out of the way Chronos placed its beak right into the grass types forehead and pecked it without mercy until it toppled over. Cyndaquil had seemingly learned to work with others against all odds as both Jin and Chow stood in amazement not sure if they were in a dream or if this was indeed reality until they saw the young Cyndaquil start to run up the stairs. Jin was still shocked as he advised Amaryllis to follow the fire type. " It appears that Cyndaquil has started to trust you, its instincts of trying to reach the top and defeat our elder are still apparent. I would follow it up the stairs quickly if you were still hoping to help it. No doubt lies in my mind that it will fail without your help." He then recalled his defeated Bellsprout and stood off to the side. It was now up to Amaryllis to either go up the stairs and help Cyndaquil or she could leave now knowing the fire type would fail without her. vs. Sages Jin & Chow

{ } Both Chronos' and Cyndaquil's combo knocked out the second Bellsprout, so the second floor of the tower was now accessible. It would seem that the Cyndaquil did trust her as the fiery Pokemon decided to run up to the stairs without her, so she would have a choice between following Cyndaquil or leaving now to have Cyndaquil fail its quest. No, if she left now, that Cyndaquil wouldn't be able to get past the next obstacle that decided to obstruct its path towards its rival. She would nod along with the wise monk's words as she proceeded to follow the Cyndaquil up along the stairs with Chronos tailing her during mid-flight. There was probably no doubt in her mind that the Cyndaquil really needed help with whatever obstacle decided to stop them this time, so Chronos was getting a bit stronger from the fight as well. There was only one final floor after the second floor was cleared, that must've been where the final showdown with Cyndaquil's rival would take place. The pillars inside the tower creaked as the journey to the second floor was but a few moments away where the Cyndaquil would have a bit of trouble with the next opponent. At least, the young Hoothoot beside her did not seem to get tired at all, he was actually willing to help Cyndaquil out with its plight as much as possible. His red eyes did not stray far from the path they had taken up to the second floor as he would hoot ever excitedly on the quest to get to the top. With the monks from earlier having Bellsprouots as their main Pokemon, her entire team was already tailor-made to deal with the advantage of clearing them off along with Cyndaquil's help. Already, she could feel the blood rushing in a pool of adrenaline, something every trainer seemed to feel during the heat of battle. As Amaryllis and Chronos reached the next floor a single sage was standing in the middle of the room with Cyndaquil right across from him. The displeasure on his face was hard to ignore as he clearly did not want to deal with the young fire type and seeing Amaryllis approach only made his disdain for the fire type even worse. " It would appear our old rival has defeated the youngest of our clan in its attempt to defeat our beloved Bellsprout and our Elder. I see you have received some help this time, you certainly need any help you can get after your pitiful attempts by yourself."The sage was a bit annoyed that he would have to deal with both Amaryllis and Cyndaquil or so he thought but as he sent out the only Bellsprout he had Cyndaquil fired off an Ember attack at the grass type causing it to jump out of the way standing right in front of Chronos while leaving Cyndaquil just enough space to run up the stairs by itself leaving Amaryllis to deal with the sage. " Hmph, I cannot say I am proud to let CYndaquil slip pass by me so easily but I give it credit when it is due. I shall not allow you to pass by so easily however." His Bellsporut then rushed back over to his side and blocked the stairs to the next floor. As much as he doubted that Amaryllis would back down he was willing to give her the chance to leave instead of battling him but he would not allow her to progress without defeating him in a battle. " As I prefer the non violent approach against all but our rival I shall give you one chance to go back from whence you came, if you do not I will be forced to make you leave so our Elder can deal with that pesky Cyndaquil." Amaryllis would have to make a choice and fast as Cyndaquil would not last long against the elder by itself. Sage Neal gives you a choice to either leave or to battle. If you choose to fight he will use his Bellsprout (Level 9)

[nospaces] [attr="class","woo1"] [attr="class","woo2"]一期一会 [attr="class","woo3"] The second floor of the Sprout Tower had a single monk and his Bellsprout obstructing the way and wouldn't let her pass through though the Cyndaquil he deemed pesky had already snuck past him, and headed right for the top and final floor. "Well, I am not turning back where I last came, so Chronos and I shall do battle with your Bellsprout." As the brown owl Pokemon hooted in agreement, he landed on the ground and hopped in front of his trainer. This was a chance that she wasn't going to throw away so easily, and the Cyndaquil really needed her help up on the final floor though she had to be quick about it.[break][break]
The proverbial clock was ticking as the little fire type Pokemon wouldn't be able to make it without Chronos to aid it, so she started with the first order. "Start with Confusion, Chronos!" Chronos' red eyes glowed as psychic power attempted to control the Bellsprout. With this newfound power, perhaps the final challenge might even be too easy for her team of graceful bird Pokemon. Even Winona might laugh at how easy her flying types would shred the monk's Bellsprouts like they were butter on meat. | [attr="class","woo4"]

(Apologies for taking this as my first mod post back, Sky. Shakin' off some of the rust; gotta start with someone!)Amaryllis’s reply seemed to come as little shock to the Sage opposite her, his response a mere sigh and slight bow of the head. ”Very well,” he replied, casting his gaze downward to the small pitcher plant beside him. ”Bellsprout, I leave the rest to you.” It was a very short and simple command, but was all that was needed to prompt the Grass type to take a couple of steps forward. It glared at Amaryllis and Cyndaquil, arms (if one could indeed call them ‘arms’) flexing a little in anticipation. The sight of Chronos elicited an audible gulp from the monk, though he stood his ground all the same. Glancing down at Bellsprout once more, he gave the order to begin. ”Bellsprout, we will start with a Vine Whip. Don’t let this Hoothoot deter you; we shall win this battle. We must.” A determined ”Bell” was the reply from his partner, whose scowl hadn’t faded at all since the start of this encounter. Yet it would be the Hoothoot to make the first move. Flapping his wings as if to propel itself, the spherical owl hopped out into the battlefield with his attention firmly fixed on the target ahead. Eyes glowing, the avian cooed gently while Bellsprout began to glow a similar shade of red. Not long after, the plant’s head started to ache severely, causing it to roar in agony as it shrunk down to the floor. It stayed in that position for a few moments, seemingly waiting for the move to subside before doing anything itself. After a few seconds, the pain suddenly lifted and the plant could finally take a deep (metaphorical) breath. Legs shaking a little, Bellsprout made its way forward as quickly as its body would carry it, a vine protruding out from its stem. Once it had covered perhaps half of the length of the impromptu battlefield, the aforementioned vine swiftly erupted out toward Chronos, snapping across his face before returning to base just as quickly. Bellsprout gave a triumphant snort, as if the move might’ve done some real damage, though its trainer looked less convinced. Chronos didn’t seem to care though, preferring to flatten the slightly-ruffled feathers on his visage than take notice of the attack itself. (NB: Am currently breaking the battle screen in resources and cannot for the life of me see how. ._. I'll have a fiddle later if I can; not used to this fancy stuff. [nospaces] [attr="class","woo1"] [attr="class","woo2"]一期一会 [attr="class","woo3"] Chronos' attack seemed to make its mark as the Bellsprout suffered through the unseen psychic powers of the owl. However, Chronos' own victory over the plant would not last as he too was met with the crack of a Vine Whip, red eyes widening as he was putting his wings out to brace himself. Squawking in pain, Chronos' red eyes gave the enemy Bellsprout a glance of irritation, so much for sparing Bellsprout out of mercy. The spherical owl hopped back in front of his trainer, red lash marks would adorn his brown feathery body. "Are you okay, Chronos? Did it hurt you?" She asked the owl out of concern for him, but he did not look at her for a moment.[break][break]
He hooted to signal that he was feeling alright after the attack, so the monk's Bellsprout seemed to be on Chronos' own hit list. "Quickly wrap this up with Confusion, Chronos!" The owl hopped one step forward before his large red eyes starting glowing again to the testament of using his psychic power to finish its opponent in order to proceed. Perhaps the owl's dislike for Bellsprout only got him to become more willing to help the Cyndaquil, and train to get stronger. | [attr="class","woo4"]

Seeing the amount of raw power Chronos had within him, Sage Neal could not hide the fact that his Bellsprout was in trouble. As he had not been able to teach it any moves to recover lost energy or to protect against its weaknesses there was very little he could do to stop Chronos if the owl managed to score another hit with Confusion. Neal could not even think of what to say as Amaryllis gave Chronos the order to use the dreaded attack again. Bellsprout had no hope of avoiding the powerful psychic type attack as Chronos's eyes started to glow a magnificent red mere seconds before Bellsprout started to glow in the same manner. A throbbing headache soon followed as the psychic energy was too much for the plant Pokemon to handle. As Bellsprout collapsed onto the floor knocked out cold Neal was quite impressed by Amaryllis's skill as a trainer and as much as he hated to admit defeat she had clearly earned the right to proceed. " I admit defeat, like my brothers before me I have failed to protect our sacred home. You may proceed to our elder on the top floor, heed my warning however he is a far stronger trainer than any of us sages. I would expect a very tough fight if I were you." After delivering his warning he recalled his Bellsprout and started to walk down the steps so he could have his Bellsprout healed. With nothing else to block Amaryllis's path to the top she could now rejoin Cyndaquil at the top floor. The elder would certainly know she was coming by now as none of the sages had reported back to him to help him defeat Cyndaquil once and for all. Will Amaryllis ascend the final flight of stairs or will she give up?

[nospaces] [attr="class","woo1"] [attr="class","woo2"]一期一会 [attr="class","woo3"] Chronos proudly hooted as he celebrated another victory over the sage's Bellsprout as she was now free to join Cyndaquil to the final floor of the ancient Sprout Tower. Flapping his stubby wings, Chronos would follow after his trainer as Amaryllis proceeded to the stairs again for the final showdown with the elder sage. Beforehand, the sage would warn her that the elder was not so easy to take down like the other two she had took down so easily, but she had placed her own faith that her Hoothoot would be able to clear the way just as he had done with the other sages.[Break][break]
Once she had reached the top and final floor of the tower, there was still a bit of time left for Chronos to help out the small fire-type Pokemon. "I want you to use your Confusion attack to help Cyndaquil take down its opponent, okay?" The female trainer asked her Hoothoot as he nodded. Once again, psychic energy prepared to be emitted from his mind as he would land next to the Cyndaquil. At least, the Cyndaquil itself probably hadn't sustained serious injuries by the time she had rejoined it for the final fight against the elder sage. [Break][break]
If she kept this training up, Chronos might have a chance against the Flying-type gym leader of Violet City. Although, she did need to train her other birds a bit more in that regard, the Hoothoot had been doing pretty well soloing against the sage from the second floor. All that was left was assisting Cyndaquil in beating its rival, and this battle will be in the bag soon. | [attr="class","woo4"]

Cyndaquil was not injured at all when Amaryllis and Chronos caught up with it on top of the stairs, it had been halted by a furious looking monk that did his best to block the door. "You cannot go in, you are going to disturb.." he hissed furiously at the cyndaquil before getting distracted by the appearance of Amaryllis, which was enough for Cyndaquil to slip past him and slam open the door. Several gasps and exclaims of shock were heard as Cyndaquil barged in calling out its challenge while flames danced on its back. "Well done, you have interrupted the lesson, happy?" The monk hissed at Amaryllis before he stomped into the room to bow respectfully and start his apology, which stopped abruptly. Inside the room there were a half circle of about 10 men and women, who had been facing an elderly monk who had a different looking bellsprout at his side. It was this bellsprout Cyndaquil had its eyes upon. "How did you...?" The elderly monk began with a frown to the cyndaquil, but then he noticed Amaryllis and he understood. "I see, perhaps you are ready this time," he said quietly and beckoned for Amaryllis to come in. The younger monk who had attempted to stop her, shot her another glare as he closed the door behind her. The elderly monk turned to the students. "Calm down, everything is under control and we will continue the lesson," the elder said. "Is that the pest the others have talked about harassing the tower, Elder Li?" One of the students asked and the younger monk at the door huffed while looking disdainfully at the cyndaquil. Elder Li shot a warning glance at the other monk and then looked seriously at the student. "Don't look down and scold something you don't know the story of," Elder Li said quietly. "Cyndaquil came to challenge the Elder Bellsprout of this tower five years ago and lost, it has since returned to get a rematch but have trouble understanding our teachings, especially since it was on its own. A burden is much easier to carry when you are more than one," Elder Li explained and the students settled down again, lapping in his wise words. Elder Li turned to regard Amaryllis. "Perhaps the clouds has parted and the Sky is clear for our challenger, are you here to help miss...?" Elder Li asked and waited for Amaryllis confirmation and her name. When that was settled he turned to the bellsprout at his side. "Master, are you ready to accept the challenge of Cyndaquil once more, do you think it can learn this time?" He asked reverently and the bellsprout looked thoughtful at the cyndaquil and then turned its wise old eyes to Amaryllis, before it nodded solemnly. "Very well, the challenge has been accepted. Hoot? Will you take the honer to aid Elder Bellsprout? When you are ready start keeping Cyndaqul's helper away," Elder Li said and a hoothoot came prancing over to Elder Bellsprout. He looked twice the size of Chronos, whom he had discovered and glared at furiously. Elder Bellsprout gave it a pat with a leaf and a stern look, and Hoot laid down his feathers and become much smaller. He bowed apologetically to the bellsprout, but still sent Chronos a glare, the other hoothoot really wasn't welcome here in Hoot's eyes. Chronos moved first and had little other choice than to attack Hoot as the other hoothoot had clearly made him the target. The Confusion did not stop Hoot even though he clearly got a headache while the attack lasted, he continued towards Chronos, either on the ground or flying in the air depending on where the other hoothoot were. Cyndaquil was faster and as it covered Elder Bellsprout in flames, the students gasped in horror. The revered Bellsprout and highest teacher of this tower wasn't going to be burned to crisps now, was he? Hoot slammed into Chronos in a full bodied Tackle and pushed him away from the rest of the battle. "Get lost! There is only place to one hoothoot here, go back to you tree!" Hoot spat at Chronos. Elder Bellsprout was clearly marked by the fires but he did not back down or seem distressed in any way. Instead he glanced back at Elder Li who bowed respectfully and began to explain as Elder Bellsprout swayed from side to side and roots grew out from its feet and merged with the wooden floor of the tower. "The tower represents our ways, the way of The Bellsprout! As the bellsprouts we will bend and let hard times pass over us, but we will stay firmly rooted with the ground and get strength from it. And we will not back down from danger if necessary," Elder Li explained and the students looked awed. [nospaces] [attr="class","woo1"] [attr="class","woo2"]一期一会 [attr="class","woo3"] Score! The Confusion attack had made its mark on the other Hoothoot aptly named Hoot as the bigger Hoothoot was not happy with Chronos' presence here. Elder Li had wanted confirmation on her name as he had asked if she was here to help. "My name is Amy and I'm here to assist the Cyndaquil in taking down its rival to end this feud." Even though Chronos seemed to be a much smaller Hoothoot than Hoot, it did not stop him from puffing out his chest and putting his wings on both of his hips. To the other brown owl Pokemon, he was simply trying to look more intimidating than the bigger bird.[Break][break]
Anyway, the Cyndaquil had acted first as it had wreathed the old bellsprout with its flames. While the plant Pokemon was ingrained into the ground, Chronos' red eyes widened as he was tackled onto the ground by Hoot, flailing his wings as he was bouncing on the floor. "Quick, try to intercept Hoot from interfering with Cyndaquil with Confusion once more!" As Chronos would quickly try to use his legs to prop himself up, he would hoot loudly at his self proclaimed rival. His eyes flashed into a shade of lighter red as waves of otherworldly energy proceeded to make its way towards the enemy's Pokemon. [Break][break]
All it took was possibly one more hit from the Cyndaquil to finally take its rival from five years ago down, but the bigger Hoothoot would probably pose more problems. That was when her own would step in to assist Cyndaquil if necessary, and she could use this opportunity to formulate another strategy if she needed to. | [attr="class","woo4"]
