(New team: Tordis, Placido, Cyan, Casper, Egil and Mads, please let Casper hold the soothe bell)
It was a couple of days since the gym battle and Astrid wanted to explore the area a bit, and do something else than training. It had been so intense since they had left Violet City, the little that hadn't been about preparing for the upcoming gym battle had ended in other types of battling due to the trouble making spinaraks. Now Astrid wanted to be sightseeing and she had heard that there was an old well nearby inhabited by slowpokes, that sounded peacefully and slow which was just what Astrid needed today. She wondered if there was a way down into the well and guessed there must be in some way for the slowpokes to have ended up there. There had to be a way in and out or else there wouldn't be much for the slowpokes to eat down there.
Astrid had switched the whole team, both because the ones that had battled in the gym needed the rest but also since it was about time she spent some times with some of the others. She had brought the three friends along, Placido, Cyan and Mads, it was always enjoyable to watch them together and it reminded Astrid about her own children and granchildren back when they were small enough to play. It was nice to see how long Cyan had come since Aglaia had gifted him to her, he had bloomed since getting the two others as friends. Casper fluttered around the three and tried to be a part of what they were doing.
Tordis was also brought along and since she looked to have bonded with Egil he was brought too, Astrid found it nice that the shinx didn't held any grudges towards the croagunk. Tordis seemed a bit reserved and the old woman hoped that she could get the shinx to warm up to her during their little excursion.
It was correct that Tordis was reserved towards the group, she had been burned her paws last time she had been trusting and helpful and Egil's words didn't help one bit to make her dare trust them anymore. Not that she trusted him either, but he had been right the last time and he had at least been honest about them not being friends. She watched sadly as Cyan joked around with the two pink pokemon, she felt so alone and deeply missed her family and her old life where she had been with no care in the world. Things had been so much easier than life was now.
"There it is!" Astrid exclaimed as she pointed to the round stone setting that showed where the well was. There were little excitement from her pokemon as the well looked everything else than special with its dull grey colors. They paused as a strange sound reached their ears. "Someone is hurt," Placido whispered as he had the best ears. He raced towards the well with Cyan and Casper hot at his heels. Mads followed much slower and Egil and Tordis trailed behind. "What is it?" Astrid asked and leaned over the well to listen, only Casper was able to look over the edge with her. "Hello? Anybody down there? Do you need help?" Astrid called down into the well and listened for an answer. Casper would dive down into the well the moment he heard any answer as he couldn't wait to see what was going on down there.
"We need to get down there," Astrid decided and looked around to find something to help her. It would be no problem for her to get her pokemon down there, if nothing else she could threw their pokeballs into the hole, but she herself had troubles. There was a ladder but she didn't trust her legs to be able to get down there. "All of you, I need you to push those loose stones up against the well so that you can climb up ontop," Astrid said and began to loosen the old rope that was still hanging above the well, she wasn't happy to trust its strength but it had to do. She put it around the top step of the ladder as it was smooth and wouldn't cut the rope in the same way the rock could and then tied one end around herself and handed the other to her pokemon. "I need you to hold this tight so it can support me while climbing and catch me should I slip. When I'm safely down we'll see what is needed, if you need to help pull someone up, or else I can recall you from the edge off the well," she explained to them and then began her descent.
It was a tough climb for the old woman and her muscles shook as she finally neared the bottom. She got warned about the missing steps and was happy she had taken precausion with the rope as she could now just let her pokemon lower her down. It was anything but pleasant and the rope cut deep into her skin but she clenched her jaw and endured, someone needed help!
With her feet on the ground she looked around, it was surprisingly light down here and much, much bigger than expected. This was clearly not just a hole in the ground from where people gathered water, this looked like a whole cave system! No wonder the slowpokes could live down here. This wasn't the time to awe over the well and she looked worried at the man laying not far from her on the ground, he looked cold and in pain. "Are you alright? What have happened?" Astrid asked as she untied the rope to be able to go check up on him. Casper fluttered around his head while the rest of the pokemon waited outside and tried to follow what was happening down below.

Once at the bottom of the well Astrid found the ground rather wet and muddy. Some few feet away from the ladder she found an older gentleman who had apparently not noticed the missing rungs on the way down and had a somewhat less than graceful landing. He turned to regard her as she approached, a look of relief on his face.
"Am I glad you found me," he said, a grimace of pain contorting his features. "I'm Kurt and got hurt trying to rescue the Slowpoke."
He groaned a bit, clearly trying his best to get up despite an injured back. For the moment though he was unable to regain his feet.
"It's Team Rocket. They are doing something awful to the Slowpoke down here. I chased on of them into the well and fell. Sounds like there are several of them up ahead."
True enough she could hear voices and other sounds further on inside the caves that made up the bottom of the well. What exactly was happening she couldn't be sure but there were sounds of pokemon in distress so it couldn't be anything good! There were also multiple tracks in the mud going both ways made by people and pokemon. She couldn't make out how many people were involved or how recent the tracks were.
"Can you save the Slowpoke?" he asked, a hint of desperation in his voice. "If your pokemon are strong enough to stop them then I and mine can guard the exit to keep them from escaping till the law can get here."

"Rescue the slowpokes?" Astrid asked worried and laid a hand on Kurt's shoulder when he groaned in an attempt to get him to stay calm. She frowned when he mentioned Team Rocket, were they here as well? She straightened and leaned on her cane as she listened to the sounds further down the tunnel, this was bad. Not only at this moment but in general, Astrid had met more Team Rocket grunts and others who broke the law in the short time she had been traveling than she had compared to when she had been working for the police! It couldn't be a coincident and that she just happened to stumbled over everything that was happening around, it could only mean that the police wasn't able to keep up and that the thieves had gotten more free hands to do their stuff.
Astrid looked down at Kurt after he had asked her to save the slowpokes, she was torn. Of course she could not turn her back on the ones in need but she wasn't certain she was strong enough and there was no way she could just leave Kurt to lay here unprotected. "Are the police alerted and on their way already?" She asked Kurt quietly to avoid the Team Rocket group hearing what she was saying. "If not, then how do we alert them?"
Astrid wouldn't move until she was certain Kurt was going to get help, she offered him also to be pulled of with the rope so he wouldn't lay down here in the cold humid environment. That couldn't be good for anybody's health. First then she would recall her pokemon and only let Placido out again beside her, so she had him and Casper as company. She wanted to know what was ahead and not just run straight into things. Placido was good at being quiet at zubats was common both in caves and with Team Rocket, so he could hopefully go on unnoticed.
They moved forward carefully with Casper in front, Astrid would press up against a wall as it made a sharp turn, she could hear talking right around the corner. Casper carelessly flew ahead and hovered in the air while looking around curiously and would happily go chat with anybody he saw if they sounded just the slightest friendly, or if he recognized the sounds of another zubat. Placido would lean forward carefully and peek around the corner and let Astrid know if it was safe or not.

Kurt sighed. "I told the police, but it was taking them too long to get ready!" He said, wincing as the pain in his back returned. "That's why I made my way down here first. They kept going on about how they needed reinforcements and so on... can't trust them to get anything done these days." He said, rather pessimistically. He looked up the ladder towards the top of the well. "Truth is, I was hoping you were the police, but no offense, you don't really look the part. I can't just sit around knowing those poor slowpoke are getting hurt though..." Kurt said, his voice raising slightly with anger as he refocused on what he had come here for. "I don't think I can go ahead after my little tumble though. I'll go up top and see if the police act more quickly if I tell them that someone has gone down there AND team rocket is here." He said with a small chuckle. He grabbed the rope Astrid offered to him and tied it around his waist, then started making his way up the ladder out of the well. As Astrid, Placido, and Casper entered further into the cave, two voices could be heard. "--- they wanted at least thirty slowpoke tails. We haven't been able to find that many slowpoke yet. We know they're in here, since we've harvested before. Boss wanted us to split up and see if we could find any more. So far we've only been able to find six of them. We've been quiet so far, so we don't think anyone knows we're down here yet, so instead of keeping watch of the well entrance, we're supposed to split up and look for more slowpoke." A feminine voice said.
"Alright, jeez, I was just doing what I was told." A masculine voice responded.
"Yeah well, plans change. We thought it would be an easy in and out, but after the last time we harvested, those slowpokes have gotten better at hiding."
"Alright, well, I guess I'll go keep an eye out for slowpoke."As Casper flew out lackadaisically, the two rockets didn't even take notice. The female rocket member turned on their heels and started making their way back further into the cave, leaving the male rocket alone. Placido stuck its head out around the corner to take a look, and the rocket grunt was staring straight at it. "A slowpoke..?" The grunt said mistakenly, seeing the flash of pink and yellow from the Whismurs ears poking around the corner. The grunt rubbed his hands together, and started coming down the hallway towards where Astrid was hiding. "Come out little slowpoke, I just wanna give you a treat~" He said, doing his best to sound non threatening despite his gravelly voice. He reached down to his waist and gently touched the button on one of his pokéballs, and a small Rattata burst from it. "Rat, head around the corner and cut off its escape!" The grunt whispered down to his rattata. The rattata nodded and started running forward toward the corner Astrid was hiding behind!
A rocket grunt and his Rattata are quickly approaching!

Astrid frowned when Kurt complained about the police, that was not how she remembered them back when she worked for the IPF. Were they really loosing their grip this much? Were the staff so pressed that they couldn't go check out when there was warnings about Team Rocket activities, was that already given such low priority that the Team Rocket more or less could do as they wanted? It could explain the several grunts she had met, and on top of that there was the other criminals that she had met and helped to stop. Perhaps that was why IPF had been suggesting Astrid herself to join, which she had found ridiculous, because they could really need an extra hand even if it was from one as small as her own? "I will do what I can," Astrid promised and helped Kurt getting secured in the rope and her pokemon to help pull him up from the well. She made sure the rope was hanging down so she herself could get up, and then recalled her pokemon from the top of the well.
Astrid bit her lip as Casper turned the corner but the grunts sound to be close so she didn't dare to call him back. She wondered if he even knew about being visible and staying hidden now he couldn't see himself. She did not like what she heard them talk about, she knew that people said slowpokes couldn't feel a thing since they were too dumb but she didn't believe that. Pain could be hidden and Astrid guessed the slowpokes were just so slow to react they had learn to just endure. The old woman felt she was not cut out for this but she would be even slower trying to fetch to police so she could just as well try stalling the grunts until they could get caught red handed and arrested.
Astrid was glad to hear that the grunts split up, it would make it easier as she doubted she and her pokemon had a chance if she had to face them all at once. Placido withdrew his head to look questioningly at Astrid, she gestured for him to try lure them around the corner so they were out of sight of the other grunts. Astrid herself backed off and attempted to hide in a niche as she expected the grunt to shout out if he saw her. Placido murmured quietly in what he hoped could sound a bit like a slowpoke as he had no clue on how they sounded, while he backed off and into the shadows in the hope to get the rattata and the grunt all the way around the corner.
Casper got curious and flew down to Placido as he wanted to know what the whismur had said before and why he was backing off. "Get behind them and keep the human here when they comes around the corner," Placido whispered to the confused zubat but didn't have time for any more explanation. He would looked innocently at the rattata and the grunt and the moment Rat got too close he would attempt to slap it with his stubby arms.

Used Tail Whip & Bite! Placido [Soundproof]: -1 DEF ... Switched with Casper, used Pound! The purple rat was quick to act. Racing round the corner he already had a plan of action. His tiny paws skid threw the thin layer of mud as he changed direction, hopping toward the pink pokémon and swiftly bounding passed Placido. It was great maneuvering; exactly what the rocket member had requested. Rattata now stood between Placido and Astrid, though the rodent hadn't spotted the hiding woman and would continue to be oblivious as he focused on the whismur. Spinning around suddenly the sound pokémon would find himself witness to a strange dance of Rattata wriggling his tail back and forth in a non-threatening fashion. As his pokémon headed off the supposed slowpoke, the Rocket Grunt was soon to follow around the corner. Grin on his face, eager to finally have gotten one of their targets for the day, he couldn't have been less prepared for the bat. Casper fluttered straight toward his head, veering up at the last second in case the man was slow to react. The grunt shouted in surprise and ducked down, head snapping around to angrily watch Casper circle around behind him. "Watch it!" he growled, attention quickly returning to the prize and not giving the zubat another thought. Though, his face turned into a dumbfounded look before construing back into angry wrinkles. "What the heck? What is that doing down here?" The man spat his annoyance, gesturing toward Placido as he exhaled loudly. "Get rid of it Rattata, I don't have time for this. We're behind schedule as is." The normal type ceased wagging his tail and gave Placido a considerate look, blinking as if just noticing that what he had been engaging wasn't the correct target, and then whipping around into a fierce stance. Brow furrowed, fur sticking on end, the rat lunged forward all of a sudden. He flew through the air and chomped down on one of the whismur's ears. A shiver of sensitivity laced through Placido's stout body and caused him to act instinctively. Luckily it was also just part of the original plan. Placido's fist came across Rattata's cheek and forcibly removed the rodent's teeth.

Astrid pressed herself against the stone and breathed silently to avoid getting discovered, she was in no doubt of what the grunt could do to her, if he found her. She knew that some criminals had went for the officer in a cruel attempt to avoid getting arrested and she herself was in no position to defend herself if it came to that, and to be honest she wasn't sure her pokemon was ready for that responsibility either. It was best to wait until they had an idea on how many pokemon the grunt had and take him by surprise near the end of the battle. Two problems were still present and some she needed to find a solution for. First, Placido and Casper wouldn't be able to take the battle all on their own, they would need some help and backup, but how was she going to get a pokemon out of a pokeball without the grunt noticing? It always released a bright flash. The second problem was what to do with the grunt when the battle was over. Astrid didn't doubt that her pokemon could handle the criminal, they had done so brilliantly in the past and she was aware of how good the trio of Placido, Mads and Cyan was. She was no policeman so she didn't have any way of arresting the grunt, no handcuffs or rope to tie him with, and no way of keeping him in check. If she had a trained police pokemon she could do that, but obviously she didn't. Would it be best to let him run and might escape the police to fight another day, and running into and perhaps causing trouble for Kurt? Astrid didn't doubt one second that the man would do all in his power to stop the grunt, despite being injured and it being dangerous to him. It could cause Astrid a lot of problem though, if she let the grunt run back to the others and warn them. with a quiet sigh she decided it would be best to let the grunt run and then hope the police arrived in time to handle him. Her first priority must be to free the ones that was chased and held captive by the grunt, then the police could always track Team Rocket down afterwards.
Astrid began fumbling with a pokeball as she tried to find a way to hide the flash with her clothes. She would only have one try.
Placido turned in an attempt to keep up with the rattata and was puzzled by the other pokemon's tail waving, it felt familiar but he couldn't quite remember where he had seen it before. He was conscious about keeping his eyes from where Astrid was hiding. The whismur turned around to look innocently at the angry grunt. "Whismur?" He whispered and tilted his body in a questioningly stance keeping up his act of being out of place and not knowing what was going on. He turned back towards the rattata when its orders were giving and shooked his head to tell it he didn't want to battle. Not that it cared obviously and he whined quietly when it chomped down on one of his ears. A well aimed pound got it loose but not without shredding his as the teeth was forcefully pulled out, he winced in pain. "Whismur!" He whispered, telling the rattata that he was not pleased and that it would get as it deserved. He would have for it to get close again though, as it was too fast for him to chase down.
Behind the Team Rocket grunt Casper flapped and tried to keep up with what was happening with his sonar, it proved difficult when he had to stay behind the man.

"I don't got all day to spend on this twerp. It ain't what we're down here for so hurry it up!" The raise in tone made the rodent's ears twitch back in a wince. An angry trainer for him didn't bode well for his future. He huffed. Eyes squinting at the whismur playing dumb as to his purpose here. Rattata cried out and stomped a paw on the rocky ground. In the next moment he lunged to the side, throwing himself into high gear to the point Placido had trouble keeping track of him. But he didn't stay a mystery for long. The pink pokémon was thrown off-balance from a hard hit to his side. He tumbled once, swiftly getting his footing and whipping a fist out as he spun back around where the rat had just hit him. The retaliation was so quick Rattata had no defenses up. He could only watch as the stubby fist came at his nose and smacked him a good one. "What!? the Rocket Grunt shouted, stunned as he watched his pokémon fly backward from the superb hit. He stared dumbfounded that he'd just lost to a wild pokémon, arms drooped at his side and mouth ajar. "Stop kiddin' around Rattata, get up." But the effort to stir the purple rat was no good. He simply lay on his tummy, legs spread like a starfish, stars fluttering above his head. The Team Rocket member's gaze shifted to the wounded whismur and narrowed. "You..." he growled. The rattata was withdrawn and his hands went for another pokéball. "Now this is personal." He sent out his second pokémon. He was completely focused on Placido, vision tunneled. The bat fluttering behind him forgotten, and any light caused by anything besides his own two balls withdrawing and sending completely missed by him. He thrust a finger at the troublesome whismur and shouted, "You ain't getting outta this cave alive." KO!

(+4) He's trying to learn Bite; forget an old move? Rocket Grunt is sending out Zubat (LV 14) for payback! Will someone draw its attention away from Placido?

Placido staggered when the rattata slammed into him and he reacted himself before he was fully aware of it. The whismur stared dumbfounded at the motionless rat and it was first when the grunt recalled it he fully grasped that he had won the battle. He didn't really hear the grunt's threat as he was looking puzzled at his ow stubby hands, when had he become this strong?
Casper fluttered around in his place behind the grunt as he tried to keep up what was going on. He had had a hard time keeping up with the speedy rattata and he could guess that the lump, that now was where the rattata had been last was the pokemon. It got confirmed when it disappeared at the sound of a pokemon getting recalled into a pokeball. Casper got really excited when the grunt's new pokemon arrived since the sound of its flapping of wings and use of echolocation marked it as something that had to be much similar to himself. He forgot it a moment later as he got nervous by the man's threat and then something happened to the silhouette of Placido, it chanced form! Casper had no idea what was going on and feared the man and his pokemon was doing something to Placido that would cost him his life. He focused his energy around his head and zoomed forward, he aimed his headbutting at the other pressumed zubat and hoped that would be enough to stop whatever it was doing to Placido.
"LOU-LOUDRED!" Placido shouted excited and Astrid sighed. She had carefully called out Egil while doing all she could to hide the flash from the pokeball, but that made no difference now. Placido's evolution had made a bright lightshow and he wasn't exactly quiet about it. Egil stood beside her and watched the commotion uninterested and Casper flinched from the loud screaming Placido was no making. If not the bright light from the evolution had already exposed her all the noise would soon call more grunts and if she wasn't careful she would have to fight on more than one front. She stepped out of her hiding place.
"Egil, get Casper to follow you and block that man from getting to his comrades," Astrid ordered and pointed. The croagunk casually trotted over to where she had directed him but made a route that was tauntingly close to the Team Rocket grunt, he hoped that the man wanted to make some of his anger out on him, that would be a wonderful excuse to stab him with his poisonous stinger. "Hey bat, you are needed as guard so leave your girlfriend alone and come with me," Egil called to Casper who spun in the air and followed him a bit confused.
Astrid let out Tordis and then shinx looked around nervously, while the old woman went and gave Placido a gentle slap. "Calm down Placido, you are louder than a whole flock of chatots!" She complained but smiled warmly to him. "Loud?" He asked loudly even though he looked like he tried to whisper, he frowned. "Tordis? Dear? Could you please take care of the bad man's bat before the rest of his group arrives?" Astrid asked kindly and the shinx looked suspiciously at her but stepped forward to face the zubat. "You can do it!" Placido called out encouragingly and then slapped his hands over his mouth as it once again had been much louder than he had intended it to be. He had spent his whole life having had to fight to get noticed as he had always been so quiet, was he unable to turn his volume down now? Astrid stayed in the safety behind her newly evolved loudred well aware that she was one of the team's weakest link. That should keep the grunt from targeting her physically.

Casper: 15/33 HP) The sparkling light of evolution lit up the area like a camera flash. The grunt had to shield his eyes, squinting and scowling at the development. "Just my luck," he grumbled, turning his head to his zubat and opening his mouth to give an order when another gathering of light caught his attention. The grunt's eyes widened at the sight of that pest from earlier gathering up psychic energies about its head and charging in toward his own bat. "Zubat watch out!" was all he could spit out in time. The female zubat had already been aware of the other bat's presence but wasn't expecting a sudden attack from behind. She twisted and spun, winding up and steeling her wing to catch the aggressor as he came in for the headbutt. She caught his chest while he smacked into hers. The pair tumbled through the air, entangled lightly, but managing to free themselves from each other before they hit the ground. "What's with these pokémon today?" the man fumed seconds before the old woman made herself known. She didn't even acknowledge him, beyond his position for her plan. Commands spouted, fingers pointing, her pokémon went to work. "Well this is making more sense now. No way a couple of ragtag wilds would give me such trouble," commented the grunt. He relaxed a little, but was still clearly annoyed by all this. He eyed the toad as Egil walked around to cut off his escape route. As much as he would have loved to do something about it Zubat was all he had left. Besides, what kind of criminal would he be if he ran away from an old lady? He put on a confident smirk. "You think you can take care of me that easy ey Granny? We'll see about that. Bat, start with the little one." He gave a point, staring menacingly down at the blue-furred shinx and watched as his zubat dove in for a nip. Seconds before she did though something came over her. The feline's presence suddenly grew. It felt as if an intensity rose just as she was opening her mouth for her attack. She still bit Tordis, but the successful intimidation lessened the power Zubat was willing to put in over wanting to get away quicker. The grunt didn't really notice, too distracted with trying to figure out how to handle all of Astrid's pokémon around him. "I just gotta get to you and then all of them don't matter," he commented darkly.

Casper hit his mark clear but the other zubat was more used to battling than him and she knocked the air out of him and pulled him with her into a terrifying spin. He struggled to get lose and when she finally let go of him his wings brushed the floor as he rebalanced himself, he was rather dizzy and was more than happy to follow Egil's voice out of there.
Astrid smiled humorlessly to the grunt as he stated that her present cleared any confusion he would have. He might have a reason to why her team of pokemon was here but it would make no difference to him, it would only make her own pokemon stronger as she could heal them underway. She was pleased to see him relax a bit, it was only in her favor if he underestimated her and thought this would be easy just because she was old. Her pokemon not so much. She decided to use it as he challenged her and his zubat attacked the unprepared Tordis. "Of course not my dear, such big strong man is no match for me," she said cheerfully and smiled innocently to him, she wasn't lying after all. She kept her cheerful appearance as he threatened her personally and patted Placido in front of her. "I don't doubt that, but I will love to see you try." The loudred chuckled loudly while staring threateningly at the grunt, now he actually had the size to put behind his words.
Tordis did not like this place, it was weird and unknown and she was all alone without any friends. The old woman sounded friendly but still sent her out to face some weird featherless bird, why was they here anyway? They had gotten the man out of the well, why hadn't they just left? She winched as the zubat bit her and she began to work her muscles to build up electricity. She poured all her sadness and frustration into it and leaped at bat with the electricity cracking in her fur. "Leave me alone!" She shouted as she leaped and then back away fighting the tears that welled in her eyes. She glared at the zubat like she was the fault of Tordis situation.

Tordis grew to LV 16 and gained +1 Happiness! (+2) WHAT'S THIS!? Tordis is trying to evolve, allow it? Casper grew to LV 12 and gained +2 Happiness! (+6) (Placido: 23/69 HP ... Casper: 16/35 HP ... Tordis 60% HP)
The Team Rocket grunt watched as his bat made the mistake of carrying through another bite attack despite the crackling that had started up. The static tickled the short blue fur of the zubat but still she flipped around and went for the chomp. All it did was play into Tordis' own retaliation. He sighed quietly, biting his lip as he stared down at the downed pokémon. It was over much quicker than he was hoping. This old woman was much tougher than he'd anticipated. Being all out of pokémon there was little now he could do to stop her carrying on to wherever it was she wanted to go. He could run. In his utility belt he had the standard thieving gear all sane Rockets kept for escaping authorities should things go awry. His fists clenched for a second, pride preventing those fingers from moving any where near his items. He couldn't run from an old lady. "Heh." The laugh slipped from his lips just a second before his visage lightened considerably. No longer did he attempt to hold any intimidating posture or glare down confidently. He smiled. The darkness of his cap that shaded his the upper half of his face somehow seeming to give way. "Well looks like you could."He recalled his zubat. "You're pretty tough, but there's a lot more of us down here and I'm not going to lie and say I'm one of the stronger ones," he began explaining, trying to keep his tone light and friendly. "But I won't get in your way if you wanna go in there." The man slowly made a few steps back toward the far wall, which would give Astrid and her group a wide birth for getting around the corner and deeper into the cavern. "Heck, I won't even alert them you're coming." He smiled again, though a little mischievously. Dignity kept him from running, and it'd be no good on his own reputation to go crying to his superiors and admitting defeat. The best way this could go for him was to have this woman trample the rest of his group so he didn't look like the loser. "Just make sure you go with some poison protection yah?" he offered. If asked, he'd probably give her any information she wanted that could conceivably help her win against their squad leader or the other grunts roaming about. But for the moment he just gave her space, kept an eye on her, and withdrew a small bundle of cash to offer her for her victory. The Grunt gave Astrid $360 for winning!

Tordis watched as the zubat collapsed on the ground without any joy, this couldn't be what the world was about fighting each other for no obvious reason. No friendship, no helping each other, sounded like Egil was right at out here it was everyone for themselves. A few tears escaped down her cheek and she closed her eyes to stop them. She had been told that she would reach crossroads through her life and she guessed this was one of them, she could either try turning the ones around or change herself, she found the latest easiest and she pushed the sorrow away and tried to replace it with resolve. She didn't see the light that surrounded her but she felt the strength that helped steel her determination. She opened her eyes and looked surprised at her extra stribes on her frontlegs, she knew what that meant but hadn't expected it to happen so soon. She raised her chin, she would need the extra strength if she was going to survive all by herself in this cold and cruel world.
Astrid smiled fondly as she shielded her eyes against the light of evolution but she didn't dare to turn her attention to the now luxio to praise her. The grunt was going to be desperate and she had to be prepared for whatever he would do. His chuckle and giving up his act of intimidation made her suspicious, her pokemon stayed silent too and watched him alert. She narrowed her eyes at him, he was up to something, she was sure of that. At that moment she wished she had been a police officer and had had something on her she could use to arrest him with and keep him in place, for now she had nothing and she didn't fancy either option she had. "If they haven't noticed already they are both blind and deaf," Astrid said dryly, with several flashy evolution and the very loud Placido she was certain her cover was broken and whoever waited further down would be well prepared. "I don't think they need a lot of warning now," she added. Astrid could do two things with the grunt, she could either let him run but that would give the risk of him healing up and then attack her from behind later on. Or she could bring him along although it would be a lot to handle all the beaten up grunts and it would leave her with less to fight the ones who was still resisting.
"I have no expectations of this going to be easy," Astrid said seriously and she too hoped that she had brought enough healing along. It would probably be best if she checked it to be certain. "Why are you giving me advice even this small? Won't your associates see you as a traitor if you are helping me?" She asked him quietly after having studied him for some time and giving him time to answer, if he had any, before continuing. "If you are willing to help me, then tell me how many you are down here and what you are doing?" She asked him calmly, she was well aware he probably would lie to her but little information would be better than nothing she guessed.
Whether he answered or not she would accept the money but letting Placido collect them for her, she was not stupid enough to get close to him. She was too fragile and she was the team's weak link. "I have no way of keeping you here, so you are to leave the well right away and for not to return," Astrid ordered the grunt and pointed towards the entrance. "I guess it will be of no use of urge you to surrender yourself to the police," Astrid said dryly but then looked kindly at him, "but should you ever want to chance your life, there is always a way out and people to help you if you reach for it," she added. Astrid doubted that he was thinking of anything like that at the moment but she knew that planting the idea could help him change his view later on in life. Very few criminals were a hopeless cause and cruel just for the sake of being evil.
"Go with him Egil and make sure he leaves the well, you are free to punish him if not but keep your hands off him if he behaves," Astrid warned as she sent the croagunk to escort the grunt out. The moment they were out of sight she would check up on her bag and applied a potion to Placido and Tordis, and took her time to praise the young luxio, who just watched her reserved. Astrid then found and gave an Oran Berry for Placido, Tordis and Cyan to hold, before she got back on her feet and continued down the cave to try stop Team Rocket. She continued carefully and let Casper take the turns first as he was such a common pokemon they might not see him as a threat at first glance.

“All right, all right, I’m goin, I’m goin.” He said, raising his hands up as Egil accompanied him back towards the entrance of the well. He eyed the Croagunk carefully, carefully sizing it up and for a few moments considered trying to overpower it, though if there was one thing he knew from working with Rocket Executive Proton, it was that pokemon poison could be deadly if they applied their poison with precision, and something about how the Croagunk was watching him made him think that it wouldn’t hold back. The fact that Astrid was smart enough to acknowledge that if he was brought to the entrance he’d likely escape surprised him somewhat, but he wasn’t about to look a gift Ponyta in the mouth. Plus there were always different ways into the well if he were to climb out of it. The craggy cave-formation below had quite a number of back entrances, and if his comrades could hold this trainer off for long enough, me might think about warning Proton… Maybe. ~-~-~ As Astrid continued deeper into the well, the unmistakable sound of another human was up ahead. Casper fluttered along down the cave, scouting ahead and arrived upon this scene. “Alright Gumpy, Disable it!” the voice of a rocket shouted aggressively. Next to a small pond a small and likely very young slowpoke was in a panicked struggle against two pokemon. An ekans had wrapped itself around the small slowpoke, and a grimer stood in front of it, its oozing body morphing and dripping sludge intimidatingly onto it. A female rocket grunt was watching sternly. “Oi! No biting its tail, Eks!” She scolded. The slowpoke looked like it had been struggling for a few minutes now against these two opponents, clearly outmatched. From inside the small pond, a few similarly small sets of slowpoke eyes would occasionally surface, then disappear with a soft splash. “Gumpy, Mud-Slap this pokey, and lets start trying to get those other ones out of the water.” The grimer nodded, wiggling down its slimy fingers into the hard soil, quickly mixing its liquid into it and making mud, then it whipped its apendages up, mud smashing into the constricted slowpoke. It let out a pathetic “Pooeeee…..” before it collapsed. The ekans quickly slid off of the slowpoke and its trainer gave it a small pat on its head. “Nice work Ecks, Gumpy.” She said, smiling in a strangely affectionate way as she scooped up the unconscious Slowpoke with some effort. It writhed for a second, squirming out of her arms “Stay down pokey….” She said grunting, pinning its neck to the ground with her elbow until it stopped writhing. She then picked it up, and dropped it into a wheelbarrow which had another unconscious slowpoke resting in it. “Alright Gumpy, try to flush another one out of the pond.” She said, pointing her finger leadingly. The grimer turned its attention towards the water, and slowly started sliding onto it, its body sinking down onto the surface somewhat, strangely floating like oil as it spread its body more thinly, the pond splashing erratically with life. “Ecks, get ready to wrap up another one.” She said, and the Ekans started coiling up its body, its tail rattling quickly in excitement.

Astrid studied the grunt as he was escorted out by Egil, he had chosen not to answer her question for some reason after having offered his help. She guessed he had gotten cold feet but she wished he had could give her the information she had asked for.
Egil would follow him to the entrance and watched until he had left the well, then he turned back to join Astrid and the others.
------------
The cave seemed endless and Astrid found it impressive looking and wondered where all the water had gone. They came across what she would call underground lakes but if the well had worked correctly at some point everything here would need to be full of water. Casper came fluttering back as the sound of talking reached their ears and he happily gestured towards it. Astrid placed a finger over her mouth to indicate they all needed to be quiet and then she moved forward carefully. Her face darkened when she realized what the goal for the TR was, and after a assessing the situation she withdrew a bit again. The grunt was laying the slowpokes in a wheelbarrow which meant she had a bit of time before they got really cruel and she was certain they would need a good plan for this. Astrid called out Cyan and Mads and began looking through her pokedex to get the information she needed.
Tordis had been horrified to see what the human and her pokemon was doing to the slowpoke living here. She had yet to learn what the Team Rocket's goal was with the slowpoke but she found it horrible the little she had seen already. It only confirmed what she had already learned, the world outside her birthplace was cold and cruel and that she was on her own. Her evolution and the added strength gave her the confidence that she was capable of taking care of herself and with how many times she had burned her paws since she left home, she preferred to watch others with suspicion. At the moment she was suspicious of why Astrid had chosen to retreat and what she was planning.
"This is going to be a tough battle but we can't sit idle by," Astrid warned her pokemon and easily got their attention. "Mads, I want you out into the water and get in between the grimer and the slowpoke, you are the one most agile in water so you should be doing fine. Cyan, you are by far the one with the biggest advantage as they won't like your mud attacks, so I'd like for you to target the snake, got it?" Astrid informed and where Mads nodded seriously, Cyan fidgeted and nodded reluctantly. Placido stomped over and patted the marshtomp reassuringly on the shoulder, making Cyan flinch and stare until he was told it was Placido who had evolved. Then he stared even more. "They will probably try to poison you or something similar, don't hesitate to let me know if you need help in any way, we are together in this!" Astrid said and laid a hand on the nervous marschtomp. "I know you can do this Cyan, you are much stronger than you think," she told him and he sent her a nervous smile.
"Good, then go!" Astrid ordered and Mads made his way to the water and splashed into it and disappeared below surface. "Wait, where is Casper?" Astrid said and looked around frantically and Placido pointed towards the Team Rocket grunt. "Oh no," Astrid mumbled as she spotted the zubat, he was not just flying around and looking but was heading straight towards the ekans. She had no idea what he was up to but it did look like he was going to attack, and Astrid wasn't certain he would be able to handle that just yet. She pushed Cyan forward, "we need to hurry! Go! Go! Go!" She said and he reluctantly trotted forward.
Casper disappeared in a flash of light and Placido made their present known shouldn't they have been noticed already. "You can do it Cyan! You are not alone, we're right here behind you!" He bellowed loudly. Mads could hear it too below water and couldn't help but smile. He let the water circle around him gently as he sped through the wet element to where he thought the grimer was.
Wordcount: 731 (ooc: If a double battle, Mads is facing off Gumpy the grimer and uses Aqua Ring, while Casper is switched out for Cyan and facing Ecks the ekans. If single battle Mads' part is merely fluff, and Casper is switched out for Cyan who faces off whoever is first of the TR pokemon)
