The doors burst open, thin hands thrusting them open with little care but as to the flourish that went along with it. It made a loud bang as the hinges caught its extremities before they hit the wall and in their wake stood a confident woman grinning ear to ear in a rather eye-catching outfit. It took a second but her visage quickly sunk into dismay as she realized that the floor she'd just made her grand entrance didn't even have anyone on it save for the greeter. A quiet hmph later she reeled in her composure and went over to the man polishing the elegant statue commemorating all those that had completed this gym's challenge; or at least all that it could fit. There were more ornate bird statues around that no doubt filled the same function. Clearing her throat she regarded the man with just a hint of annoyance, "Hello, where can I find the leader of this establishment?" The man hid his amusement as best he could before welcoming her to the first Johto gym and indicating the elevator just behind her near the doors she'd blown through. Lenore mumbled a thanks as she swiftly spun around and headed for the next floor. With the doors closed she was hoping to let out a bit of her frustrations about the embarrassment she'd just endured but as the elevator scaled higher she became aware of the glass doors. At first this only furthered her annoyance to her gym experience so far but as her eyes strayed upward she couldn't help but be filled with the beginnings of awe. She could see up through the floor above her and through the ceiling right through to the sky. The sun beaming down through wispy cloud cover was perfectly clear; only just a little tinted. Lenore put her hands on the clear glass of the elevator and pushed closer to see more of what she was being brought to. The next point of interest was a young man watching a pidgey fly about. "That must be him..." she absentmindedly mumbled to herself. The awe digressed back to the confidence that she had come through the doors with. "Well he doesn't have a fear of heights that's for sure."The doors slid open with a soft schwoop and the dancer stepped through them, eyes dropping to the mildly frosted plastic her metal shoes clicked onto. It was a little unsettling, but only because there didn't seemed to be much in the way of guard rails she observed. A single bar to keep someone from making the wrong step. Well. Not much different than the tiered stages she'd used to parade across. Gaze lifting to her horizon she locked onto the man she figured to be Falkner and boldly strode across the intimidating floor space. "Falkner I presume?" she started, putting on a determined smile before introducing herself. "I'm Lenore. Here for my first badge." Not that that really needed to be explained. She eyed the pidgey as it came back to land by Falkner and it was all she could do to keep from laughing at the idea that would be what she was facing. Once the pleasantries were gotten out of the way she released her first pokémon. "Here you are Aria, a challenge all for you. Ready girl?" The eevee twitched her ears and barked happily, fluffy tail wagging rapidly in the air. "Your tackle'll be more effective than against the last one you tried to take on. So have at it!" Lenore thrust a fist into the air and Aria mimicked the rise of excitement with a jump on the spot.

Seeing another challenger enter his gym was always an exciting thing for Falkner as so many young trainers would try to earn their first badge from him. This challenger was yet another new trainer hoping to prove herself and Falkner was all but thrilled to welcome her to his gym. " Welcome to the Violet Gym Lenore, you are correct in your assumption as I am indeed Falkner the gym leader here and it is nice to meet you." Before he could even ask which Pokemon she would be using first he saw her send out an Eevee which was certainly a rare sight in his gym. " Wow an Eevee, you do not see many of those around these parts. I shall be starting out with my Pidgey." He then tossed his Pokeball in front of him as the small bird Pokemon appeared looking quite excited to get underway. Lenore may have gotten the jump on Falker for selecting a move but his Pidgey was ever so slightly faster which allowed him to quickly select a move to try and counter the incoming Tackle attack. " Pidgey, quick use your Sand Attack to try and blind that Eevee before it can score a hit." The bird quickly kicked up a cloud of sand right into Aria's eyes but the effort was not quick enough. The sand reduced her visibility but her Tackle scored a direct hit as Pidgey skidded back towards Falkner. The bird was far from finished however as it quickly recovered. " Good work Pidgey, our attack might not have worked as well as I hoped but you still reduced the chances of getting hit again and that might prove useful, by the look of things our challenger is quite skilled." After pausing to study the young Eevee a bit more Falkner started to think about his next move as the next round was about to begin. Lenore raised an eyebrow when Falkner sent out a new pidgey, her gaze moving to the one that had been flying around for a second before returning to the one he'd specifically sent out to face Aria. Was all this guy had was pidgeys? Some bird tamer. He obviously needed to get out of the New Bark area more, but this shouldn't be all that difficult then. Her thoughts brought a smug grin to her face as she watched, arms brought down to cross her chest. She was hoping Aria, with her bursting energy for proving herself in a battle, would be a little bit quicker on the draw but Pidgey was still faster. Dissatisfaction was clear on her face when the sand attack came. The eevee whining as the granules stung her eyes. But squinting through the pained blur Aria was able to catch the bird before it had fully retreated back to the gym leader. "A good effort hun," she supported in a sweet tone, though her body posture was still closed in. She put a foot slightly forward and shifted her weight onto her back leg, "But you're not done. Keep it up." Aria's head turned to stare back at her trainer through watered eyes. A red edged those usually big bright bulbs making it a rather unseemly look and caused the showgirl to cringe ever so slightly. Lenore extended a hand and waved for her pokémon to get back into the action. It worked to make the eevee turn back around and blearily focus on her opponent instead of the dancer. Falkner drew her attention then with a bit of praise. Her mind moved away from the mental picture of Aria's fuzzy face and allowed her visage to brighten back into a smile. "Why thank you," she commented, drawing her hand back to wrap around her middle. "We have some experience with pidgeys, though that may make our strategy a little less interesting than your tactics," she attempted to return a compliment to the gym leader. Even if it wasn't too heartfelt, as long as she kept edging what could be considered praise it probably would sound more genuine.

Falkner watched the interaction of trainer and Pokemon with interest. The fun thing about meeting all the new trainers was watching them figure out how to work with their Pokemon. By the time they reached Falkner's gym, a good deal had started to settle into a role and felt comfortable in their team work, but every so often he was witness to strugglers who were still finding their feet. The young woman before him had obviously confidence to spare, but the Eevee's reaction to her following command told of some insecurity or inexperience on the pup's part. "Go in for a Tackle, Pidgey." He calmy told his own fighter, having decided the one Sand Attack would do for now. "I understand," he then responded to Lenore's small talk. "There's no reason to change a strategy that works."Unlike Aria, Pidgey didn't hesitate. He used his wings to pick up speed as he rushed along the platform floor towards Aria. He swayed a little in the air to exploit her already blurred vision and make it harder to tell where he was aiming at, and in the next moment he hit her hard on the right shoulder. He had misjudged her own reaction however, and as he touched she pushed back sending them both sprawling in opposite directions across the floor. It earned them a couple of scrapes and a moments disorientation, but Pidgey wasn't going to let it deter him. As soon his feet touched the ground again he was off for a another collision, and this time he didn't let her surprise him the same way. He rammed into her left side the second time and just about avoided her retaliation, so she only hit empty air and did a clumsy half somersault instead. The sight almost made him laugh, but as the professional he was he kept it in, only a single chirp escaping him. He noticed Falkner raising a brow at just that and felt ashamed. He had been strictly taught not to laugh at their opponents. "Well, Lenore. It seems your Aria and my Pidgey here are almost equal in strength. That's great. It means it comes down to your skills and team work." Falkner said with an excited smile, while the two Pokemon took a short breather in between attacks. The woman grinned devilishly. A hand crawling up to her chin before she responded to Falkner's friendly observation. "Oh, I don't know about that sweety." She spoke while suppressing a small chuckle, eying the lad as if she knew something he didn't. The pidgey was putting up a strong act but she could see the quivering of its chicken legs. "Though you are right about the coming down to skill part," added the dancer as she dropped her hand back to grip her middle, her weight readjusting to the other leg as she shifted to a leftward slant. Aria was still fussing about the sand in her eyes. It was the first time she'd been on the receiving end of a sand-attack. No wonder when she usually did it no one liked her much for it. Her paw was furiously rubbing across one of her eyes as she made the desperate attempt to clear it away but it was no good. Even if the sand had been rubbed off the agitation remained, and the constant rubbing wasn't helping either. "That's enough of that Aria," her voice slipped into one of command, instantly drawing the eevee's attention. The pokémon only briefly glanced back, leg settling back on the ground as she resumed a more appropriate battle posture. A quiet whine came from the furry beast but Lenore again ignored the discomforted complaints from her pokémon. "Give it another try hun. Another tackle. You've almost won so try your hardest," Lenore encouraged, watching as Aria's focus went back onto the bird. Lenore's gaze trailed up to Falkner accompanied with a smile, "It's just a matter of how effective the sand attack is it seems."

Falkner looked curiously at Lenore when she stated she disagreed with their pokemon being of the same strength, he could see that Pidgey was getting tired but he knew how much the sand attack could affect the outcome so he wasn't really worried. He had more than once seen trainers who had underestimated the move and had been caught by surprise, sometimes even not managing to get back up on their feet again and therefore lost the battle. Lenore had all the confidence she needed and it was going to be interesting to see if she could back it up. "I'm looking forward to see what skills you and your pokemon can present for this battle," Falkner said with a wink not blind for his challengers beauty. Lenore's command to her eevee was a bit of a surprise to the gym leader with the difference to her otherwise sugar sweet acting. It just told him that Lenore was more than a sweetheart and could handle herself and toughen up her pokemon, and it only made it more interesting to him. "Pidgey, quick on your wings and give it a Tackle," Falkner ordered as Aria turned her attention back to the battle and the bird quickly circled the eevee to come in from an unexpected direction. Falkner's attention switched from watching the pokemon to Lenore when she spoke. "And how well you are at handling being under affect of it," Falkner added just when Pidgey made a sharp turn and rammed into Aria almost from above, which sent the eevee stumbling forward. She was quick to just jump straight up in the hope of hitting the bird which was in a position that was hard to move from fast. The back of her head slammed into the throat of Pidgey who tumbled to the ground and lay there fighting to catch its breath. As Pidgey was unable to battle for quite some time Falkner recalled it calmly. "This time Aria handled it great and her skills was greater than Pidgey,s" Falkner praised calmly and quickly grinned. "Let's see how your skills are compared to your next oppoent," He said teasingly and whistled. A shadow from great wings fell over the arena as Pidgeotto came soaring in and elegantly dropped down to the ground. Still with its wings spread it slowly raised its head to send a piercing stare at first Aria and then to Lenore. Aria beat Pidgey and gains +3 lvls and +2 Happiness! Making her lvl 12 with 9 happiness. (she has 13/38 hp if she is going to continue battling) Zatanna gain +1 lvl through the exp-share and becomes lvl 20 Falkner is not done yet, he sends his Pidgeotto [lvl 15] out. Do you want to switch pokemon?

Hands clasped together, she raised them to her cheek and balanced on one leg as her eevee claimed victory. "Great job Aria! Lookit you..." she trailed off, crouching down as the happy ball of fluff came her way to give the pokémon some well deserved pets to go along with soft spoken praise. Aria kept her eyes closed while she was being stroked. A brief respite from the sting of sand that still bothered her eyes. Lenore was grateful as well so she didn't have to look up at the irritated glossy orbs which usually made up such a cute face. With Falkner's words the woman raised her gaze toward him and gave Aria one final long stroke down her back before standing. "Seems so," she replied simply, grinning slightly. She hadn't missed the pass the gym leader had made at her just moments ago. He wasn't really her type. No fashion sense and that shaggy blue hair? Might as well be a mop. There had been but half a second of considering whether she could take advantage of it but it was very fleeting. As the young man whistled Aria's ears perked and she headed back into the battle field. Or at least where she figured the battle field started somewhere in the middle of the floor. Her trainer was too busy looking up at the descending Pidgeotto to notice it right away, leaving Aria right in that darkening shadow as the large bird came down. Eventually she felt the breeze coming from above her and acted, hopping back with a start and squinting at the tan feathered blur that had revealed itself as her next opponent. Her ears went back and she gulped at the exuded ferocity of the figure with its wings spanned. The eevee twisted her head around to vaguely look Lenore's direction, looking a little frightened. "Aria!" the dancer gasped, finally spotting her feisty fox. She had already hastily thrust a hand to the pokéballs lined in her long coat and withdrawn another of her team. "That one's not for you honey." Her hand flicked forward to release a bird of her own. Aria saw the flash, ears perking at her trainer's words, and she wasted no time in retreating off the field. Lenore scooped her up, "Don't want you to get too exhausted. One win is good enough for now," she quietly spoke into the comically large ears of her pokémon before sending Aria back inside her ball. "It's going to be battle of the big birds now. Ready mama Kiki?" she asked of the wingull she'd just sent to the field. Pidgeotto was already poised to act, no doubt going to take advantage of the time wasted on Lenore's part switching pokémon. "Water Pulse!"

Falkner's was impressed with the eevee's courage as the little pokemon ventured back into the field and without hesitation was ready to face off his much bigger and intimidating pidgeotto. He smiled warmly as Arya looked like she wished to run was nevertheless stood her ground until Lenore called her back, and he chuckled as he imagined the look of relief on the normal type's face. It was a shame there was no known flying type evolution for the eevee, it could have been fun to test out its skills then, although there might even be one that just hadn't been discovered yet. Falkner looked intrigued and held his breath as Lenore declared that it was going to be a battle of big birds, did she mean...? A big grin split his face as Kiki appeared and he marveled at the bird, Lenore completely forgotten. No woman could compete with Falkner's love for bird pokemon. "A Wingull! Those are not often seen around here, where have you gotten that one from?" Falkner asked without taking his eyes from the gull. He smirked at the Kiki's expression no matter how subtle, "and a cheeky one it seems!"Pidgeotto knew that Falkner could awe and talk for ages if allowed and he leaped into the air in preparation of the upcoming battle, stirring the air by his powerful wing beating and made Falkner's hair whip in the wind. It also made it harder for Kiki to hit him which gave Falkner more time to get the head in the game. It draw the gym leader's attention to his own bird and for a few heartbeats he watched him proudly. Then Falkner finally turned his eyes to Lenore again. "Let's see who's biggest then," Falkner challenged and snapped his head towards Pidgeotto. "Time to dust off this place Pidgeotto!" He called and a powerful gust filled the air as Pidgeotto followed suit and forced Kiki to fight hard to stay on the battle field. She would have to take the wind into account before she fired her sphere of water which did not travel in a direct path towards her target. For a few moments it looked like it was going to miss entirely but then it changed direction and soaked Pidgeotto. The wind died down almost instantly as the part normal type spluttered and coughed from having got the water in his nose. For a bit it looked like his focus was destroyed by the annoyance of the attack and he flabbed unevenly while Falkner stood below with a worried frown. Then Pidgeotto sneezed, shook his head and glared at Kiki, he was back in business. "Well done Pidgeotto!" Falkner called and the bird turned his winds directly at the wingull and forced her to the ground by attacking her from directly above. Falkner looked expectantly at Lenore as he wanted to see what she could do to help her pokemon out of the trap. This boy was pretty easily distracted. Perhaps a thing further in her favor, or so she pondered as she brought a finger to her chin before responding openly to the young gym leader. "A lucky encounter in the market," she spoke sweetly. Her charms were lost upon Falkner as he stared at Kiki though. The dancer sighed quietly and dropped her efforts on the matter. Just in time for the pidgeotto to kick things into gear. "Don't let her size fool you." The comment was quickly lost amidst the flurry of battle. Pidgeotto certainly had a better mastery of the air to Lenore's dismay. The winds whipping around was flinging her hair about as well as her fur-brimmed coat. Squinting in the strong breeze she watcher Kiki get pinned to the ground. Falkner's smug look wasn't missed either. She grimaced lightly, easily hidden with the efforts to keep the splash of wind away from her face. "What?" she began, buying a few seconds to come up with anything that sounded smart. "You think a seabird can't outlast a bit of wind? Don't tire yourself out honey." She winked, a playful grin crossing her face. Surely pidgeotto would falter even just a little bit trying to keep up the attack much longer. It had to eventually become too strenuous, and the damage from the attack was already done. Kiki was on the ground there wasn't anywhere further she could fall and get hurt. So all she needed to do was bunker down and prepare for the opening. Which was the plan the mother had been considering. Without a gust or windy attack of her own there wasn't much she could do to counter the force Pidgeotto was applying. But she was very quick. Far more aerodynamic than the bulky tan pigeon up above. Once she got her chance she shouldn't have too much trouble slipping free and giving Pidgeotto another good swirling splash to the face.

Falkner bit his lip as this was a close fight, closer than he would have liked. Gently brushing his blue fringe out the way, to see the battlefield better. His Pidgeotto seemed to have the winning edge, but could he just keep using the same move repeatedly? It didn’t seem very gym like, and he was still trying to prove he was just like his father or even better. ” This is a harder battle than I would have liked, but still fun” he admitted with a smile. While his mood was still happy and bouncy, he kept fiddling with his fingers a sign of anxiousness. But would Lenore be able to pick up on the slight hints of his fear? Only for time to tell. ” I shouldn’t be surprised really. You are using a flying type and they’re powerful in every way!” While he was talking without even so much as command Kiki starts to launch her attack. Another water pulse. The water that Kiki was making swirled and danced in front of the duo type before launching in a more correct path this time soaking the more traditional flying type once more. ” Ahh! Good hit.” His mind started to race as he thought about all his knowledge on birds. He knew there was a high chance Kiki would have keen eye but he willing to risk it. He wasn’t sure, a quick lip bite meant he was ready to say the next attack even it was in a bit of fear. ” Pidgeotto use Gust again!” He wasn’t sure why he was using this attack again. But maybe it was her taunts that Kiki could survive his wonderful flying attacks. Or that fact he feared using sand attack and failing. But maybe that was the only way to stop the Kiki from landing such strong water attacks. The young gym leader was lost in thought and Pidgeotto could sense that. While it fired up a strong gust attack it was wobbly and not strong as the last two. Pidgeotto was worried about his trainer he looked back after the attack and wondered what Falkner was thinking.

Lenore giggled girlishly at Falkner's cheer for flying types. Truthfully Lenore didn't have any particular love of birds, but somehow she had ended up with a swarm of them. The dancer watched the next exchange of the two feathered friends. Falkner seemed stuck in just using his strongest move. Or at least that's what she assumed. Lenore raised a finger to her lips and tapped a nail against their lush edge in thought. Kiki was getting a little perturbed. She was hoping for a quick and easy battle. She was built for speed. This was too slow for her tastes. The seagull landed on the ground to catch her breath and give her tired wings a moment. Folding them in was almost comical with how tiny her body is in comparison to their span. Massive triangles bowed in the air with a tiny ball of feathers fluffed in-between. She huffed. The sea bearing bird shuffled the eviolite in her grip and tapped it against the ground in mild annoyance. She didn't want to lose against Pidgeotto. "Looks like both of our birdies are getting a bit tired," she noted playfully to the gym leader. "I don't usually like to be a one-trick ponyta buuuut..." she paused, turning her gaze down to her wingull. "One more might do the trick mama bird."The decision brought a quiet huff from Kiki's chest. Another water pulse it was. Perhaps she'd get really lucky and her opponent would finally fall victim to the spiraling pulse's confusing spin; if not faint altogether. The idea brought a bit of spark back to the wingull. A metal heel clapped against the delicate flooring, chiming loudly. A bell sounding the start of the next round of battle.

Falkner was dragged out of his thoughts when Lenore talked again and he seemed to realize how tired his pidgeotto looked. He fought to hide his shame and fear, he knew the battle hung in a thing thread for him, and he knew it was because he once again had worried too much about doing the right thing instead of keeping his attention at the battle in front of him. Time to change tactics, hopefully it was not too late. Dropping all small talk with Lenore he turned all attention to Pidgeotto. "Hurry now, Roost!" He ordered and fidgeted as he watched his bird land, also resting his wings. Pidgeotto began to prune his feathers and catch his breath, they both knew it would leave him wide open for Kiki's attack but they had to take the risk. It was unlikely Pidgeotto could dodge the precise pulse of water and Falkner was certain it would be the end of it. This way Pidgeotto would get a bit of his energy back and they could turn around the battle. The Water Pulse came swirling through the air and sent Pidgeotto staggering back when it slammed into him and soaked him to the bone. He didn't stop pruning but he slumped more and more, his wings were shaking and his head movements were unsteady. He laid down on his belly and turned his head to try reach his shoulder, and had to do several attempts before giving up and dragging a wing forward to continue to work with that. Falkner had held his breath but released it and looked gently at his bird. "Pidgeotto, please, stop," he said quietly and Pidgeotto paused and sent his trainer a apologetically look and then laid his head on his wing too exhausted to keep going. Falkner bowed his head, his blue hair shielding his face for Lenore, but only for a moment. When he looked up again he had a smile on his face, he went to Pidgeotto and muttered something to him as he recalled him into the pokeball. "That was quite an interesting battle, I'm glad I got able to see your wingull in action, it's not often I get such a change," Falkner said cheerfully although it sounded a bit forced perhaps. "Congratulations, you have won and earned the Zephyr Badge as well as the rest of the rewards that comes with it," He continued and sounded more natural. He waved an assistant over who had been waiting and Lenore was handed what she had won. "The TM contains the move Roost, which will restore a pokemon's energy. I didn't get to use it in time, but I'm certain you can find good use for it," Falkner said and bit Lenore farewell and went to take care of his pokemon. The assistant would lead Lenore out and answer any questions she might have. Falkner's Pidgeotto did his best but failed in the ned. Lenore wins the gym battle! She gets £1560 The Zephyr Badge And TM51 Roost Kiki did a great job and won the battle! She grows to lvl 18! And also gains +1 Happiness. Aria got a little peek of the Pidgeotto and grows to lvl 13! She can learn Quick Attack, should she forget another move to learn it? She also gains +2 happiness. Zatanna learned a bit through the exp-share and gains +1 lvl. She can learn Psybeam if she forgets something else.

She had to admit she didn't expect it to go so smoothly. The woman had been leaning forward, at the edge of her seat as some would say. Her gaze hungry for a victory as she watched the other bird reel from Kiki's attack. There was no concern for her opponent, not even a shred whilst looking at the injured thing. So pitiful. Weakly attempting to overcome the damage just dealt to it. There was a rise of energy through her back as she held her breath waiting for it to topple over and signal her win of the zephyr badge. But Falkner did that himself. Pidgeotto was recalled and the victory was hers. Immediately she straightened, trying to wipe any eagerness from her face. "Hear that Kiki?" she chirped, not really paying attention to how wounded her own seagull was. "You showed 'em what a mama bird can do!"
