The way they rank the gyms in this game may solve an issue I had in my fanmade dream game of them creating a Pokemon World game with every single region. Yes, I know, it would be massive and I wonder if today's storage technology could handle it. My problem was how would they scale the gyms if you was allowed to go from one region to another.
I never played Arceus nor Sw\Sh due to lack of Switch. How much of those two games are being carried over into this from what you all can tell? I know the open world idea is from Arceus but not sure what else.

Well, antonius , we obviously don't have all the details yet, and we won't until Scarlet and Violet actually hit the shelves, but here's what we know so far. Firstly, yeah. The whole open world thing carries over from Legends Arceus, but that's not all. In Legends Arceus, we also got several ride Pokemon that helped out the player with all kinds of things. Wyrdeer carried them across land, Basculegion carried them over water, Sneasler carried them up and down mountains, and Hisuian Braviary flew them across the sky. However, from that one trailer we got a few days ago alone, we can see that Koraidon and Miraidon are capable of doing all of those things on their own. As such, unlike Legends Arceus, I'm guessing that we'll have the freedom to go anywhere we want, anytime we want, and we won't have to wait for certain points in the game to gain access to the sea and/or sky. Secondly, in Sword and Shield's Wild Area, there were Max Raid Dens, which allowed players to battle Dynamax/Gigantamax Pokemon and win various prizes if victorious. There wasn't anything like that in Legends Arceus, unless you count the Alpha Pokemon, but in Scarlet and Violet we now have Tera Raid Dens. Based on what we saw in the most recent trailer, it looks like every Tera Raid Den has a Terastal Pokemon, which takes a total of four trainers to battle. That's the same as in Sword and Shield, and since it is, I'm also guessing that you can battle these dens with either NPCs or real players. I'm not sure if we get any rewards for winning these battles, but I assume we will. I mean, why wouldn't GAME FREAK leave that part in? I hope this was a good enough answer for ya. Wish I could tell ya more, but that's all we've got for now.

I realized a couple of nights ago that the futuristic legendary reminds me of a quadchanger Transformer. The Pokemon changes enough to believe it is all three vehicles without much animal look. For those who aren't familiar with Transformer terms a quadchanger has three alt modes plus the robot mode. In this case, it is the normal Pokemon mode in place of any robot. The legendary Pokemon even has the kibbles (extra pieces) indicating what alt mode it could have. It is one thing to ride, fly, or ride a Pokemon with a harness but for it to actually transform to resemble the vehicle could be a bit much. This brings in the form evolution to a new way.

I'm fine with that they have gone away from the HM, but I miss using my own pokemon to get around. I'm very visual and I bonded more with the pokemon I had on my team, when I used them to get around too, instead of calling some random tauros or a living motorcykel. (If the legendaries are the only option and I end up getting the game, I'm not sure how much I'm going to use them to ride around honestly)
As for the legendaries, I doubt we get them from the beginning, their speeding things up and flying is a late game feature, so perhaps its still at the end of the game, and for post game stuff mostly. Or if they have pushed it forward, a midgame thing, where you usually get the bike or access to flying anyway. If they are parting the story in several parts, one of them might the one about the legendaries, while the others focus on something else, so you can take it when you want to?

DON'T CLICK LINK IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS XD Serebii has updated their Paldea pokedex: www.serebii.net/pokedex-sv/I am disappointed with the grass starter as expected, just think the fire one is weird and the final water is ok actually. I like all the dogs actually, and the dragon/ice is interesting. Not sure what I think of the robot regional forms.. it seems far out. And its rather weird with what looks like regional forms (like of donphan and jigglypuff, but without any evolutions?) Perhaps there is an evo, that serebii just hasn't been able to confirm yet? Now Phanpy and donphan are both there.. A lot of things which are just.. weird to me, as I prefer when they look animal like.. but there are things inbetween which are to my liking.

I'm actually trying not to look at any spoilers for Pokemon or anything really. I did already know about the two Pokemon you mention in that spoiler tag. Frankly I'm disappointed that they didn't do the gym badge scaling thing that I was wondering if they'd go for. Maybe if enough people mention that as something wanted they'll consider it for the next set. But I'm still looking forward to playing this, and I'm sure I'll be very pleased overall. What little gameplay I saw did look really awesome, so here's hoping!

I've only just glanced some surface stuff on my break... but! I have concerns about the Tandemaus... 'line' xD pokemondb.net/pokedex/maushold Unlike magnemite and klink which I could believe were some sort of single entity, this is clearly just an entire mouse family! OMG Pokeballs too powerful. Capture many things

Putting this in a spoiler as I finished the main story on both versions and want to talk about the final battle without spoiling it for those who do not want to see any spoilers. The final boss is the professor of your version who is actually an AI programmed with their personality and memories as the original was killed protecting the cover legendary from it's stronger same species rival. After you beat their Paradox Pokemon Team they lock all Pokeball's not registered to the Professor forcing you to use the cover legendary against the stronger rival. By using the right moves and the tera crystal your dragon is able to defeat their rival and the paradise protection protocol saving the day and unlocking their battle form to be used on your team.
Beating the main game also causes the rest of the Paradox Pokemon in your version to spawn in Area Zero and you can return there whenever you wish. The other Paradox Pokemon exclusive to the other version can spawn in both games if you are playing CO-OP with someone who has the other version. Outside of the cover legendary you can get every other exclusive using this method allowing you to get a mix of future and past Paradox Pokemon on your team.
Finally after beating the main story you can do a gym rematch against every gym leader then unlock the ace tournament. Afterwards completing the Pokedex is about all there is left until they add the rumored DLC sometime next year.

As for one of your spoilers, Lamont Falinks came in Gen 8 and is quite literally 8 different creatures all living together in a line. A Pokeball catches them just fine. xD But I agree, it's getting a little wild.
I love the game so far and have spent so long exploring I'm not done with it. I'd love to find a creative way to include some things like the auto battle feature. Seems you don't get much EXP from it - so something like 10% of original EXP gains. And seems to be based on best 1-hit move between the two facing, verses rounds being fought at once, so simplifying it may be possible for mod experience. Sacrifice for members would be a good chunk of EXP but benefit would be making us less 'weighty' on taking forever on journeying/battling/exp gaining. But probably and more likely just not something that will fit well with our site. =/

So, reviving this thread to talk about the Pokemon Presents. We have a couple of weeks to do the raids for Paradox Suicune and Paradox Virizion , so maybe people can see about linking up to do those together. In general, what did people think of the Scarlet/Violet DLC? The new Pokemon from Teal Mask all look interesting, and the Disk Pokemon looks a lot cuter than I was expecting.

Not a fan of most of these designs. They seem... forced? Although, the turtle and the new paradoxes seem to have already been mentioned in the books in the games, so they're not surprising. However... I'm mostly disappointed in Suicune. They could have used any of the extinct animals for it, but decided to make it a literal dinosaur, which also directly contradicts with Suicune's origins. I don't know... it could have been done better.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping that Walking Wake was more akin to an extinct Japanese wolf or something rather than just a generic dinosaur/dragon.
Still, gonna try to get my hands on one regardless because I am a completionist.

As noted in the cbox Walking Wake and Iron Leaves do not currently have Pokedex entries. Also you can capture one of each per save file during the event though you have to play online to access the opposite version raid. Both Pokemon can be used in every part of the game and are shiny locked. Currently besides being able.to use them there is no other bonus for catching them besides collecting them ahead of time.
Hisuian Zoroark included as a preorder bonus knows Happy Hour which increases the money you get from trainer battles. It normally cannot learn the move so I recommend keeping it and breeding it to get competitively viable ones. Until Pokemon Home is updated it is the only way to get Hisuian Zoroark.
I am not a huge fan of most of the new Pokemon outside of the mirror turtle but I am still interested in where the dlc will take place and the story expansion. Getting to use Metagross, Delphox, and Zebstrika again will be fantastic.
Apparently in the code all the starters except Snivy and Tepig are returning and a total.of 230 missing Pokemon will be added back in. Also Pokemon GO will have some new mechanics added as well. Hopefully I end up enjoying the dlc.as much as I did the main game.

Okay, I know it's a bit late to be sayin' this, what with the games bein' out for like half a year now, but now that I've actually played both games and gotten to fully experience Scarlet and Violet, I have to say... These are probably two of the best Pokemon games I've played in years! I'll admit, I'm still not completely sold on the whole open world thing, but between the story, new Pokemon, characters, trainer customizations, and the overall story, these games get at least an 8.5/10 from me. I especially love how much easier they've made all the pain in the a** stuff that I used to dread. Such as finding Pokemon with good IVs. Fun fact, all Pokemon in Tera Raid Dens have max IVs. It's made my life SO much easier. Not to mention, I don't need to breed to get egg moves anymore. I know a lot of people like breeding, but it's just tedious to me. Instead, I just make sure the Pokemon I want to inherit the egg move has an open move slot, is holding the new item called a Mirror Herb, and that another Pokemon in my party knows the egg move I want it to learn. Then, I just have a picnic with my Pokemon, wait a few minutes, and BAM! My Pokemon has learned one of its egg moves with no breeding required. It's great! And yes, I know there's been a lot of complaints thrown at these games about glitches, but here's my question to all those people. What glitches? That's right. Between the two games, and the hundreds of hours I've invested in them, not once has a glitch ever happened to me. I kid you not. In fact, most of the time, the games run great for me. Sure, there were a few areas where the processing speed was a bit slower than normal, but nothin' worth complainin' about. So, to all the people out there who've been complaining about glitches, I say "Get off Game Freak's back! Glitches only happen to people who actively search for them! So, stop lookin' for reasons to complain, and just enjoy the new generation!" And it's not just me. My brother and best friend have played through both games themselves, and they haven't encountered any glitches either. The three of us have found a good number of shiny Pokemon though, which is always an exciting development. In fact, I've been enjoying these games so much that I completed the Pokedex on both Scarlet and Violet. I even got Walking Wake and Iron Leaves. We're all really looking forward to the expansion pass too. They look really cool this time around. Bottom line, Scarlet and Violet are amazing! Game Freak has really outdone themselves this time. If I had to name one complaint I have besides the open world thing, it would be that there's still some unused type combinations in the world of Pokemon. Such as, Poison/Ice and Bug/Dragon. -Sigh- Oh well. Guess I'll have to wait for gen 10 to finally get those type combinations. Until then, I hope everyone else has enjoyed their journeys through the Paldea region and are as excited as I am to see where the future of Pokemon goes from here.

Bumping this since the first part of the DLC recently launched and I am curious to see who else got it. I already finished the story and side quests on Violet and just have the Pokedex to finish on it and I plan on starting it on Scarlet tonight. I enjoyed it a lot more than The Isle of Armor on SWSH though I do wish there were more buildings you could enter. I can hardly wait for part 2 of the DLC but if anyone needs help getting trade evolutions in the mean time or any version exclusives from part 1 feel free to hit me up as I can easily get any of them.
