Despite the humid and muggy atmosphere, things were surprisingly pleasant and calm for those taking the time to fish on Route 29. As Selenia and her Pokemon settled into the grass for what should be a relaxing time, it would now just be a matter of waiting for something to snag the line of her rod. Fishing was a waiting game just as much as it was a game of skill or talent, as any expert or moderately-experienced novice might tell you. She could have fished something up in 5 minutes, or she might be out here for hours. As the waiting took place, Selenia would notice the odd Trainer or Wild Pokemon scampering by. Youngsters on their way to visit friends in one of the neighboring towns, chattering happily about what game they would play or what kind of weird Pokemon they'd go off looking for. "Yeah so this friend of mine said there's this truck out in Cherrygrove, and there's this legend about if you can move the truck or get up under it, there's some super rare Pokemon living underneath it!" one boy chattered happily to his friend as they wandered by, not paying any mind to Selenia or her team's activities. The second boy scoffed, "Whatever, it's probably just a bunch of trash under there. No way some rare Pokemon would be hanging out in a dump like Cherrygrove!" The back and forth between the two would continue until it inevitably faded into the distance, returning Selenia to her moment of peace. Rather tellingly, as the boys' voices faded into the horizon, there would be a quick tug on the rod. She seemed to be on top of things, however, as it was simple enough to reel in whatever had gotten snagged on her line. It was a brief fight, one where her opponent didn't seem to really be struggling too much. Could it be that she had found a Pokemon wanting to be caught, or had she simply caught something inanimate? Plenty of inconsiderate youths used the outdoors as a dumping grounds for unwanted trash, it seemed. As the line was reeled out of the water, she would find a small clam attached to the line of her rod. Not a Shellder, but an actual clam, slight cracks running along its shell. Prying it open or breaking it would be an easy enough feat, as a brief glimpse could already show one the treasure lying within the shell: a shiny Pearl, ripe for the taking. Selenia fished up a Pearl! Item or Mon? _XOLM5Pc1-100 Shiny? 1-42 Item RNG: 1-10 1-100·1-42·1-10

Selenia looks at the clam on her hook. After she gently opens it revealing the thing they are most famous for, a pearl. She decides to pocket the pearl and carefully tosses the clam back into the water. Her water starters look towards the splash only for the clam to already sink back to the floor of the river. Upon inspecting her hook, she tosses it back in the river. As she enjoys the weather, she watches the sky to see if she could spot her three flying Pokemon. Thankfully, Golden Claw is in one of the trees pruning herself. Beaker is in another tree chatting away with other Pidgey. It makes Selenia wonder if those Pidgey are part of Beaker's old family or she somehow knows them. Wings is the only one who is flying around enjoying the wind and sun. The pearl did remind her about Anton wondering what sort of jewelry he would buy her in the future. She isn't much for the flashy type but probably would go for more water related things like seashell necklaces. If anything, the pearl could be sold if she or Anton needs money.
Some splashing in the river catches Selenia's attention as she sees Muddy and Hydran get into a literal water fight. Thankfully she isn't recognizing any real water moves but more of splashes that her and Anton would do if they were in the river. Thinking of him again made her frown a bit from missing him so much. If she knows him well enough, he might be too busy hunting down the next Pokemon or thinking of a possible invention to make life easier. There is also one other option and that is chasing down a bad guy. This reminds her that last she knew he still had intentions of applying for the IPF soon. While she is daydreaming, Ringer rubs up against her making her look down at her sentret. She pets Ringer on top of the head while holding onto the rod with her other hand. After a few moments, she returns her hand to the fishing rod to secure the grip on it.
>>Do you think Selenia will let us have a practice battle if we ask her?<<
>>You want to try to best me? I think we could but might have to wait until she is done fishing. I wonder if we are scaring away any Pokemon.<<
>>Another idea is maybe we are getting the attention of some Pokemon who wants to battle one of us. There are those who probably see us as a threat, Muddy, and wants us gone. I do wish this river was a bit deeper though.<<
>>Hoenn has a mixture of large bodies of water on one side and the land on the other. Some believe that it is supposed to symbolize the balance of two of the three legendary Pokemon who reside there. Part of me does miss home but glad I was sent here to rejoin Selenia.<<
A surprised look appears on Hydran's face when Muddy mentions legendary Pokemon. It made sense that there would be very powerful Pokemon since there should be a variation of strength among Pokemon. The idea of a Pokemon being so powerful and known to gain the title of legendary gives Hydran a headache. He puts his hands to his head as he shakes the thought of such beings out.
>>What is wrong? Are you getting too cold or something else?<< Muddy asked.
>>The thought there could be such Pokemon being so powerful and famous to get the title of legendary. Did you and Selenia ever meet the legendary ones in Hoenn?<<
>>No, what we know is what we had learned from other trainers. The stories are truly frightening of the power of them. One is called Kyrogue who controls the waters around Hoenn while the counter is Groudon who is the embodiment of the earth and fire which makes up the land of Hoenn. The ancient stories says if they ever awaken and fight, Hoenn would be destroyed.<<
This story scares Hydran so much he retreats into his shell. Hopefully Jhoto and Kanto don't have any monsters of that size and power living close.
(OOC: 704 words, 600 for eggs, Selenia is still fishing for whatever comes up next.)

The sun was shining and the Pokemon were playing in the water and the wilderness; children and passersby continued to pass through the area, some waving or giving a polite yet quiet greeting towards the Trainer busy with another attempt at fishing. Most just continued about their business, happy to ignore the Water specialist or to leave her to her own devices. Her Pokemon were able to play well enough without disturbing things too much. The Water types splashed and played to get out of the hot summer sun, while the birds continue flying or preening themselves happily. If the Water Pokemon splashing about did anything to bother the local wildlife, it didn't seem to show. There were no signs of underwater Pokemon scurrying away from the noise, nor was there any sign of anything coming to get them for causing such a disruption, at least for now. The only thing being bothered was Selenia's sense of loneliness and nostalgia towards time spent with her significant other. But she wouldn't have too long to dwell on the past, as the telltale sign of something being caught on her line began to tug at her hands. She would be able to respond in quick enough time, grasping the rod firmly and effortlessly reeling in the line. The surface of the water broke, and out emerged a rather large carp, its wide mouth wrapped tightly around the lure she had been using. As it hit the surface and felt the air on its skin, its wide lips released and the carp was sent flying on to the shoreline. It could only hopelessly hop around, screeching for attention. "Where am I? Where where where where?"Oh, a bite! Selenia fished up a Magikarp (level 8)! Old Rod level increased by .5!

Beaker notices the splash and pull on Selenia's line out of the corner of her eye. She ends her conversation with her family as she dives at the magikarp. This surprises Selenia since she didn't call on any of her Pokemon for battle but at same time she should have had someone in mind when something like this happened. The dive startles Hydran and Muddy long enough for them to quit their water skirmish. Ringer jumps away from Selenia not wanting to be hit by Beaker by accident.
"Hey now, Beaker, go easy on this one. Magikarp isn't the strongest water Pokemon out there even if they evolve into one of the stronger water\flying in this region."
Beaker doesn't seem to hear Selenia as she uses her speed for a full-out tackle on the magikarp.
"Beaker!! I don't have this one and I want to catch it if all possible."
Hydran and Muddy gets real interested in the fight that is about to happen. Selenia's scream gets Golden Claw and Wings to fly down in order to land close to Selenia.

Flopping on the shore on its side, Magikarp splashed about harmlessly on the ground. Almost as though karma was against Selenia, a sandstorm would begin kicking up at the same time as Beaker started to divebomb at the poor Magikarp, who had gone from going 'Where' to... [ 'Derp derp derp derp Magiderp. Where, derp?' It was bouncing about as if looking for something, what, it was unaware of, as Beaker came down and Tackled the poor Fish Pokemon. Almost comically the hit sent the Magikarp flying through the air, rotating about like a top, or chakram, until the fish ended up back into the water! But as though a scene out of comedy, the Magikarp continued to just splash in place on the water's surface, completely unaware that it was even back in water, or that it could even escape! [ 'Where, where? Derp.'] Almost like it was unaware it was even hit, it just continued on with its scatterbrained thought of curiousity where it was. Ah, truly a specimen of survival. Were nature any more self aware of the incredulousness of Magikarp's ability to not go extinct, perhaps they'd have been able to defend themselves while they were young. "Okay, Beaker, I know you have only hit it once but I think magikarps are one of the easier water types to catch. I also don't want this one too injured. I will toss a Pokeball at it to see if I can catch it. Be ready for another tackle in case it does decide to get us wet again."
Beaker looks back at Selenia slightly annoyed with the order to hold off on the attacking however the bird does obey Selenia. She is relieved to see her pidgey obey her orders as she reaches for a pokeball. Magikarp are probably one if not the most common water type Pokemon but this is the first one she has seen. She holds the pokeball still in her hand as she visualizes the toss at the magikarp trying not to miss it and have the ball go into the water. IF that does happen, she would hope one of her water starter Pokemon would somehow knock it back to her or at least on top of the ground. After picturing the toss for several seconds, she hears the scratching of the ground by an anxious Beaker. Selenia then tosses the ball at the magikarp and instinctively crosses her fingers. Hopefully whenever she meets up with Anton again, she will have a huge list of seen and captured Pokemon on her Pokedex to show him. She may even bring them out depending on what she has on her.
(245 words to egg, still a bit rusty but better writing, tosses Pokeball while Beaker readies a tackle)

The magikarp kept flopping around harmlessly on the ground. Splish splash. Splish splash. Flip flop. Floppity flop. There were no thoughts in that empty head except trying to splash about and struggle its way back into the water. Until it was a little older and stronger, it wouldn't even really be capable of much more than eating, swimming and jumping. It was really good at that. Amazing how a FISH that lived all its life in the water, had evolved in such a way that it could fling itself quite high and forcefully upwards when on land. Or perhaps it was those muscles that allowed it to travel across every body of water it entered, regardless of salt or freshness, calmness or quickness. Who knew? Either way, that ball smacked the side of the magikarp, popped open and gobbled the fish up without a problem. The ball didn't even wiggle. A critical catch, as one might say.

MagikarpName: Derpy (name credit to vartio) Gender: male Level: 8 OT: Selenia Hydrius Moves: Splash Ability: Swift Swim Nature/Personality: [choose]
Bio: Derpy was one of the more intelligent magikarp (compared to other magikarp) in the river. He would try to strike up conversations with tentacools who would give him an odd look and swim on. The occasional goldeen would chat with Derpy and they would have a lively discussion about water quality, the favorite plant forms, and maybe the random trainer trying to fish or play in the river. The other magikarp would either swim away from the strangness or float there listening to every word Derpy said as if he knew everything. All of this changed when hunger got the best of him and he bit the tail of a slowpoke thinking it was a large worm. The slowpoke pulled him out of the water and then flung Derpy hard. He landed against a large rock and fell back into the water. From that day forward, his intelligence left him would it be from being absorbed by the slowpoke or being knocked out by the hit of the rock. Derpy may never know but to this day he is ruled by hunger even if he knows down deep there is more to life than food.
Selenia gets excited at the catch of the magikarp as if it was her first catch all over again. In a way, any time she catches a new Pokemon it is a first catch but still the excitement doesn't leave often. She picks up the ball to examine it. Everything looks good including the usual light and ding at the end. Beaker struts around with chest puffed up even though all he got in was a single hit. If it was up to Beaker, the fish would have been barely breathing before catching it but Selenia is the trainer. Selenia than releases the new magikarp which makes Golden Claw and Wings fly down to inspect the new team member. Ringer also gets close just off chance the magikarp decides to attack Selenia or suddenly flops away for freedom. Muddy and Hydran climbs out of the water and onto the upper bank to get a good look at the new fish of the group. Derpy looks around at the crowd not knowing what to do or if any of them are edible.
"Hmm, the way you are looking around you sort of remind me of a psyduck I have. There are times I wonder if anything is working behind those eyes of hers. Then, once a great while, she does something amazing reminding me there is a thought process. Most of the time she acts a bit derpy though like you are doing now. I think I will name you Derpy."
Derpy turns his attention back towards Selenia while she talks to him. At the name it flops around excitedly. He could have accidentally flopped back into the water if it wasn't being surrounded. Selenia realizes her new magikarp accepts the new name and group. She then recalls Derpy and realizes how late it is getting.
"Oh my, we better set up camp. I didn't how late it is getting."
Selenia gets the tent out and sets it up. The birds each grab a side to give it form while Selenia inserts the poles. She inserts the stakes into the ground part way allowing Ringer, Muddy, and Hydran push the rest of the stakes down. After the tent was ready, she gets the campfire ready wishing once again she had one of Anton's fire types to get it started the easy way. At same time, she was never afraid of a challenge and there been countless times where she had to make a campfire without a firemon around or anyone else to help her. The fire got burning easily enough and she enjoyed a meal of canned beans and rice. Once supper was finished, she went to bed forgetting to recall her team. Hydran and Muddy stayed outside of the tent guarding the door, Ringer slept inside the tent next to Selenia while the birds took spots either in the tree branches or large bushes each keeping watch at different times.
In one of her dreams, she was wearing a slightly different outfit than her more usual. This one resembled the ocean water with green seaweed coming up the skirt part of the dress while waves splashed up the top with seashell designs covering her chest. All around her were all sorts of water type Pokemon with some on the ground while others were in streams or ponds. Before her was a computer with the name Dr. Selenia Pyran, PhD. in Marine Pokemon Botany. She looks around and sees a wedding picture of her and Anty with their starter Pokemon, Fire Tail and Muddy, fully evolved standing next to them. From what Selenia could tell, she and Anty are a few years older than what they are now and her current age is even older still. She walks around the lab which doubles as an outdoor observatory leading directly to the outside. Somehow she knows that Anton was the one who made the technology which cohabits with the natural surrounding.
As with all dreams, this shifts to other places and times with one being a huge water battle against Team Aqua and then Team Magma. It seems to her that the fate of Hoenn lies in what happens in the next few battles. There is a familiar heat close to her as she sees fire and electricity battling against someone or something. In front of her is water Pokemon of all types with some sort of breeze and familiar scents coming from behind. A golden feather flies off to her left just barely in eye sight.
The dream shifts again but this time in a large coliseum with a huge crowd of people cheering. In the distance is a trainer she doesn't know but somehow understands is the regional champion for Jhoto. Her Pokemon, of course, is the fully evolved Muddy ready to take on whatever comes at them.
She doesn't get to know who the Pokemon is or the trainer due to the crowing of Golden Claw. The familiar sound is her usual wake up call. She gets ready for the next day but texts Anty about the dreams she has before she forgets. As her usual routine, she stretches and checks her stuff. Once she is all packed and dressed for the next day, she with her Pokemon goes about breaking down camp.
"Well all, I think it is time to head to Cherrygrove. I believe we got all we can from here. There is still tons to do if we want to find out our destiny."
(1100 words (counting Derpy's bio on), 600 to egg, this thread is now finish so I ask for it to be locked\archived.)
