After training all day, Andrew figured a break would be nice. The trainer was using his map for the first time, hoping to find something fun to do. A trail off Cherrygrove caught his eye. It led to another part of Route 29, the route where Andrew had his first battle. A cool breeze blew past, keeping the boy refreshed. It was nice to just go for a walk for once. He’d been working so hard that he’d forgotten how it felt to relax.
Andrew considered letting the whole team loose but quickly dismissed the idea as he knew his peace would soon be disturbed. Alone, every one of Andrew’s Pokémon were tolerable but together they could be chaotic. His team were full of personality clashes but he wouldn’t change any of them. Today, Andrew decided he’d let Ruffle to roam around. The Pichu was small so hopefully the noise she’d cause would be minimal.
Ruffle was calm for once and actually seemed to be enjoying the walk. It was great to have that pesky snake inside her Poké Ball this time. Alena was really beginning to bug her. As the two wandered far into the forest, Ruffle’s ears began to twitch. “What is it, Ruffle?” Andrew asked, curious as to what the Pichu could hear. The electric-type looked back towards her trainer with a smile on her face. “Oh great! Trouble. Just what I need.” Andrew moaned.
Before either of the two could say or do anymore, a piercing scream sounded from behind the trees. “Whoa crap! What could that be?” Andrew shrieked. He thought about the possibilities, shuddering as the worse came to mind. Before he knew it, his Pichu had dashed off to see what was happening.
“No, come back! We don’t have to check every single thing out!” Andrew whined. A scream that bad meant something was up. And that something, he really didn’t want to be a part of. Andrew decided that he was going to have to follow the mouse. He couldn’t let anything happen to her. If somebody was in trouble, it was only right to help them. He wouldn’t want this on his conscience after all.
As Andrew turned the corner, he saw a young boy, surrounded by Houndour! For a moment, he questioned why the hell there were Houndour in Route 29 but he then realised they probably belonged to someone. “Hey!” Andrew called, feeling a little braver now. “Get away from that kid!” he roared, drawing the Houndour on him. At least, he had some relatively high-levelled Pokémon who could protect him. This other boy really hadn’t a clue…

One of the Houndour looked up at the sound of the new voice. Where in hell did this guy get the audacity to to tell him to get away from his dinner? The boy Jimmy, who still sit bawling in the corner, was an interesting catch indeed. He had even insisted he had no Pokémon to begin with, which, had been a complete lie. His fellow pack members, Abyss and Helena, had sniffed out three Pokémon very unusual to the Route 29 area before the boy even came into their sights. Plain and simple, he, Havoc, didn't like little liars. “Hound…” His fur black fur stood on end, which would honestly remind someone of a Meowth or a Skitty while it’s hissing. Abyss and Helena looked up at the call of their current leader, Havoc. Helena honestly, didn’t mind abandoning the boy. They couldn’t seem to find the three Pokémon, the scents of whom had caught their noses from a mile away. So… She kind of preferred an easier Human to go after. Sure, not to say Jimmy wasn’t a weak little boy, but this new Human was practically throwing himself at them. It was perfect. Abyss wasn’t too happy though. He seemed to sense something the other two didn’t. Andrew seemed quite determined to play the hero for the boy they were hunting, and that’s what he hated about human kind. The world was dog eat dog- so to speak. If you weren’t predator, you were prey, simple as that. Yet, humans always wanted to save each other from danger. It sickened him so much. So, in the end, he wasn’t very happy Havoc was letting the easier prey get away, but happy that maybe he could teach the new kid a lesson. On top of that, his little Pichu looked quite tasty. “Hound.” Abyss taunted, aiming it at Ruffle. The Pichu fumed. “Pichu?!” Apparently, whatever Abyss had said, had certainly annoyed the crap out of her! Ruffle looked at the Houndour, absolutely intrigued. What were those three getting at? They were trying to threaten Andrew? Trying to threaten her? That just didn’t fly with the little mouse. She looked over at Andrew, awaiting his orders as the first two of the three dogs stepped forwards. Hopefully, he would use her. She needed to get back at those pesky puppies for even considering her being an easy target! “W-wait…” came the meek voice of Jimmy, who stood up, his legs shaking wildly as he nervously made his way past the Houndour and to Andrew. “W- would you like to use one of my Pokémon? C-come out guys!” He called. Three Pokémon scurried in from three different directions. One was a little clue, quite squishy looking ball of blue, with a round tail to match. “Azu!” It cried meekly. The next Pokémon that came out floated off the ground just a bit. Its body was a deep beige color, its candy cane colored tails sort of trailing behind it. “Ling!” It seemed less fearful than the first Pokémon The last that came stumbling in was a little unbalanced. Its tiny green body was shivering wildly. Obviously, it was very fearful of those fire types. "Bud..."_____________________________________________________ Helena, Havoc, and Abyss would like to battle! Jimmy has offered one of his Pokemon to help you! The choice is between Azurill, Budew, or Chingling! Will you accept his help?

[[OOC: If I did anything wrong, just let me know and I'll edit. I'm not sure how this works yet. :/]]
To Andrew’s surprise, the three Houndour abandoned their old target in favour of him. The three canine Pokémon seemed to be bullies. They just picked on people who they thought were vulnerable. Andrew wondered what sort of trainers these dogs had. They were either cruel or irresponsible to let them roam around like this. The dark/fire-types were just looking for trouble.
Ruffle was ready to lay into the three doglike Pokémon. Their taunts were really winding her up and she was ready to break some legs. The Pichu wasn’t going to hold back this time. She looked at Andrew to confirm that she was supposed to go for them and frowned when she was told otherwise. “Since we’re in a rush, I think it’d be best to let Sana handle this one, Ruffle.” Andrew told the electric mouse.
“And kid, I guess there’d be no harm in using your Chingling. You don’t have to be intimidated. If trust in your Pokémon, they’ll pull through and I’m about to show you that.” Andrew declared, accepting the boy’s help. This way, he wouldn’t feel totally worthless. Battling wasn’t something he seemed to be confident about. He preferred to play with his Pokémon and relax.
“Sana, let’s go!” Andrew called out. He threw a Poké Ball into the air to reveal the ditzy Buizel. She looked around with the usual clueless expression on her face. “Sana, I need you to use Water Gun on that Houndour!” Andrew ordered, pointing directly at Havoc. He’d take out the leader first as usual. “Chingling, I’m not too up to date on your moveset. Can you try an Astonish, maybe? Or even just use your most powerful offensive move. Go for the same Houndour as Sana!” Andrew could tell Jimmy was still nervous, but he’d have that fixed in no time.

(OOC: Alright, and Chingling can use Astonish, Wrap, and Growl.) ______________________________________________________ Ruffle was a bit disappointed that Andrew wasn’t using her, and she wouldn’t have a chance to teach a thing or two to the Houndour gang, she stepped down and allowed him to send out Sana. After all, with her Type advantage, Sana would probably do a better job. The Pichu had to wonder why he had decided on using Jimmy’s Chingling though. Thankfully for Andrew’s Pokémon Duo, Sana happened to be faster than the two Houndour they were up against. Sana sucked in all the air she could in one breath, holding it in for a few more seconds then needed before sending a giant spray of water directly at Havoc. The fire type didn’t seem like he’d honestly stand a chance against a jet of water like the one Sana released. Havoc shook his fur, trying to rid it of the water that Sana had soaked him in. This was impossible! One attack from the water type and ALREADY he could barely see? What exactly were these people getting at? That was why, with the exception of a few, he really didn’t like Humans. His eye sight was blurry, but he knew he was faster than Chingling! He stepped forward and opened his mouth, tiny flames visible within it. The spray of embers came out quickly and bombarded the poor Chingling, who barley stood a chance in the fiery rain. “Chingling!” this was enough to make Helena Helena grunt in frustration. She was next, she had to guess. She’d show both of those pesky Pokémon what for. First though, she figured she would have to power up. Standing straight on her paws, she raised her head to the sky and began to howl. “Houuuuu!” She was promptly glowing with a red light. Her attack stat had gone up! Chingling, now recovered from its encounter with ember, clapping its tiny….hands, together. It made the scariest face it could possibly make for such a cute little thing, sticking its tongue out. While Havoc was momentarily startled, Chingling did something similar to slapping him. He was so weak by then from water gun, he just collapsed. Chingling bounced up and down cheerfully. “Ling Ching Ling!”“Bui.” Abyss snorted. This was the exact reason he should be leader, and not Havoc. Getting up to his feet (He was lying around watching the battle), he stepped in next to Helena. If you wanted something done right, you always had to do it yourself, he supposed. Andrew had a reason to be confident though, one Houndour down, and only two left! ______________________________________________________ Battle!

[[OOC: In a rush. Sorry. :/]]
“Think of Violet Gym, Ruffle. The quicker we get passed here, the quicker we’ll get there.” Andrew said in an attempt to cheer up the Pichu but his plan backfired. Ruffle was insulted that her trainer would even imply that this dim-witted Buizel would knock these Houndour out before her. And where was he going with this Chingling? It barely knew an offensive move.
Andrew decided not to get distracted by the electric-type. She often behaved like this so she’d bounce back in no time. “Great, guys. Sana, repeat your Water Gun attack on the centre Houndour!” he ordered. Helena had boosted her attack so right now, she was slightly more dangerous than her ally.
Sana’s response was nothing unexpected. The Buizel repeated the words in her head until she realised what she was supposed to do. Ruffle frowned as she watched her trying to decipher what her trainer had said. Sana blasted another heavy spray of water at her foe. “Oh, and Chingling, try an Astonish on the other Houndour.” Andrew ordered.
Andrew studied the three Houndour carefully. He’d easily knocked one out so the other two shouldn’t be too much trouble. Hopefully, all of this was having some impact on Jimmy. He really wanted the boy’s confidence to grow. He had some great Pokémon. Sure, they were still young but so were a lot of his. If he made an effort, the boy could surely protect himself.

As Helena was blasted with water, Abyss promised himself he wouldn’t end up the same way. Havoc and Helena were both stupid. They didn’t even make a move to jump and avoid the attack. Helena was apparently even weaker than Havoc, because she went down very quickly. He growled at the Chingling as it copied the same move it used on Havoc on him. He took the slap without much surprise. He had seen the move before; it wasn’t going to scare him now. Wearing almost a sadistic grin, he stepped back, flames appearing in his mouth. He was preparing his ember. “Chiing!” Chingling was blown back in a sudden wave of tiny flames, this one hitting pretty hard. Sana wanted to hit hard? Feh, so could Abyss. Chingling got back into an upright position. That ember hurt more than it should of, and Chingling’s form felt like it was burning. Suddenly a flame burst around it, and it cried out in pain. A burn didn’t seem like much to worry about, but Andrew probably should have been more wary. Abyss wasn’t like the other fallen Houndour, that was for sure. ______________________________________________________ Battle!

Andrew was quite impressed with his Buizel’s attacks, even if she had obvious type and level advantages. Sana was taking out one Houndour per turn, though unfortunately the poor Chingling was the one paying for it. The Psychic-type had taken a few hits and had even been burned in the process. Andrew was a little surprised but said nothing to keep Jimmy calm.
“You can do this, Sana!” Andrew encouraged the water-type. A simple smile spread across Sana’s face. She may not have understood everything so far but she loved to be complimented. Even though she obviously failed to strive in intelligence, Sana was quite vain. Luckily, the Houndour hadn’t attacked her. If someone messed with her appearance, the Buizel would have a fit.
“There’s only one left! Water Gun, now!” Andrew commanded. He then looked at Chingling but decided there was no point in even bothering to tell it to attack. The baby Pokémon would probably just wind up getting itself hurt. Andrew knew it was suffering as it was but he wasn’t going to let on that he did. The Houndour were nearly beaten, so at this stage, he’d take his chances. Using a Potion would be such a waste.
Ruffle, too, was impressed with her ally. Sana had certainly surprised everyone yet again. The Pichu wasn’t admitting this to anyone though. She was still raging that Andrew hadn’t chosen to use her. She’d been looking forward to an adventure on her own but she wasn’t even able to get that. Ruffle desperately wanted to evolve but unless she was given the chance, she could be left waiting.

Chingling, who was trying to keep Jimmy from freaking out, masked its pain. Jimmy was scared, after all. His Chingling hadn’t been in a battle for a long time, and all this pain seemed just like it would if the little fellow was fighting his first battle all over again. The wounds from ember were painful, but it managed a straight face. Abyss was amused now. That ditz of a Buizel was ready to finish him. He figured it was well deserved. He realized maybe chasing the boy wasn’t a very smart idea after all…but, he also decided he didn’t want to give up quite yet. Sana heard Andrew’s command and even though it took a second or two for her to understand, she breathed in and released another steady stream of water at Abyss. When she didn’t see him there after the jet disappeared from her view, she figured that she had blasted him away. Ruffle looked on from the sidelines all the while. Was that it? It couldn’t be that easy! She looked for any sight of the pesky hound, and…well, she found him. “Pichu Pi!” She shouted. This startled both Chingling and Sana into looking up. Abyss was up in the air, and quite well at that. The attack had missed. He breathed in, similar to what Sana had done, but released a purple oozy gas, which circled around Sana. Smog was never a pleasant move, but the otter could have avoided being poisoned if she hadn’t breathed in the toxic gas. She kneeled as she felt the poison now flowing through her body. Maybe the next attack might end up hurting Abyss, who looked smug as he landed on the ground on all four paws. ______________________________________________________ Battle!

Andrew groaned, both disappointed and surprised that the Water Gun hadn’t hit, and the poison damage wasn’t helping the situation any more. He wasn’t going to let it get to him though. They’d just have to go for it again. “Sana, use another Water Gun! Aim for the Houndour as carefully as you can.” Andrew said slowly, hoping that the Buizel would take in at least half of what he was saying. He glared at Abyss, studying the Houndour. Initially, he seemed to be the least threatening of the three but the dark/fire-type wasn’t as uninformed as he’d let on.
Sana looked back at Andrew with a blank expression on her face. Of course she wasn’t going to understand what he had said. There were far too many words in that block of speech. The Buizel was dim, but her attention span was also one of the shortest Andrew had ever come across. She was always so empty-headed. After going over the words she’d caught in her mind, Sana realised what she had to do. She chuckled before turning to face Abyss once more.
“Chingling, come back.” Andrew added. He’d done his part with having the Psychic-type being involved. Jimmy was watching after all so he had to make it seem as though his Pokémon was of some use. Now was his chance to include the Pidgey that his sister, Sarah had given him. There weren’t many opportunities for him to train the Pidgey so double battles were his best bet. She’d gain levels this way and could slowly work her way up to battling alone.
“Rusty, let’s go! Andrew yelled, throwing a Poké Ball into the air. A young, naïve Pidgey was revealed. She hadn’t had a lot of experience in battling before but his younger sister, Sarah had caught her back home on Route 4 and sent her along to help Andrew out. Andrew had always loved Pidgey and he planned to take Rusty a long way. While all eyes focused on the flying-type, Sana began firing a Water Gun in the foe’s direction.
Ruffle was far from impressed by Sana’s last turn. The Buizel was a total screw-up. Ruffle so desperately wanted to go out there and finish the stupid water-type off herself. She was embarrassed to be on the same team as something so clueless. She wouldn’t even listen for five seconds. It was really starting to get ridiculous.
Tugging on Andrew’s pants, Ruffle stared up at the boy. Her arms were folded and a frown covered her face. She was ready to beat into someone. She wouldn’t have missed that turn and she wanted her trainer to regret not choosing her. Andrew began to laugh as he looked down at the Pichu. For some reason, a lot of his Pokémon seemed to be jealous of each other and compete for attention.
“Give her a chance, Ruffle. She’s already knocked out two Houndour. Sana will redeem herself in no time.” Ruffle turned away, rolling her eyes. There was no way that was happening anytime soon. Ruffle couldn’t decide who she despised more; that wacky snake who tried to eat her on multiple occasions or that idiotic Buizel.

(OOC: I wasn’t exactly sure how to level this out, so I gave a level per Houndour to Sana and Rusty…but you can correct me if I’m off on this.I also wasn't sure if Pokemon were supposed to gain happiness for this battle ) ____________________________________________________ This time, there was no escaping the wave of water that washed over his body. Abyss was tough, and that was a very, very well known fact around the parts of Route 29. Normally, he wouldn’t go down so easily… but he did. His knees buckled under him and he fell over, the water coating his body glistening in the sunlight. The battle was over. Jimmy held his Chingling tightly in his arms, and both Rusty and Sana turned to Andrew. Even though Rusty hadn’t even attacked, the bird felt much stronger. “Thank you for saving me! I’m very grateful!” Jimmy said as he ran up to Andrew. With the Houndour knocked out, he was not afraid any longer. Jimmy looked down at Chingling, who seemed very intrigued by Andrew. It almost seemed like it wanted to go with him. “Hm…what would you say about taking Chingling along? It seems to want to come with you…” Jimmy uttered, offering Chingling and its pokeball to the older boy. A growl came from behind them, however, and the three Houndour stood up, Havoc barking orders to the others. Abyss took off in the direction of the left, jumping over a log, and disappearing. Helena got up next, taking off to the right, disappearing into the bushes, and last, Havoc darted straight out of the clearing. Jimmy looked up from cowering and spoke: “It…looks like they ran away…but they could cause more trouble at any time… Maybe you should see what’s wrong…even if one of them are calmed down, it might calm the other two…” Ruffle stood next to Andrew, Sana appearing at his other side. Both were confused as to what Jimmy meant, did he want them to follow the Houndour? Jimmy stepped over to Andrew, placing something else in his hand...a little bell, which made a soothing sound as it jingled. ______________________________________________________ Info

Chingling Name: Dario Gender: Male Level: 10 OT: School Boy Jimmy Attacks: Astonish, Wrap, Growl Ability: Levitate Nature/Personality: Dario lacks confidence and usually needs a push to get him going. Taking after his original trainer, he can be frightened easily. Dario isn’t aware of his own strength and feels safer when he’s around others. He can be a bit clingy at times without meaning to be. His constant fear of everything can get tiresome but he’s impossible to be angry with because he’s so innocent.
“Well done, everyone!” Andrew cheered, causing Ruffle to roll her eyes. She could’ve easily destroyed all three of the Houndour. Sana hadn’t even maimed them. If she had her chance, they wouldn’t have been able to walk for weeks. She just wanted to get out of here. There was nothing more sickening than watching everyone suck up to her trainer.
“No problem. And sure, I guess the little guy could tag along.” Andrew smiled. The Chingling did seem to enjoy his company. “If you don’t mind, I think I’ll name him Dario. As for the Houndour, I’m sure they’ll be fine. And just in case, you could always go after them. Their strength has been lowered so I’m sure you’d have no problem handling it.” Andrew said, brushing off Jimmy’s request.
Andrew decided it was time to leave, at last. He was beginning to fall behind and now that he’d easily defeated the three Houndour, he was confident that he was ready for the Gym. “Let’s go, guys.” Andrew started. “Sana, that was awesome. Thanks for the help. And Rusty, I’m glad Sarah sent you here. You’ll make an amazing addition to the team.” Andrew placed his new Soothe Bell around Ruffle’s neck as they walked back the same path again. “That should keep you quiet,” he laughed.
