A densely packed network of trees spanning the sides of a gorge. Gloomy is appropriately named given the difficult time the sun’s rays has trying to penetrate its way through the entangled network of tree limbs in the canopies high above. Wild grapes, breeches, and honeysuckle grow around the ravine in abundance, nearly choking out the available ground below. The Pokemon found here are more hospitable to lower levels of light that filter through and easily make their homes along the wild shrubs. A gentle stream surges along almost quietly within the ravine, providing the wild flora with water.

Incoming from Shady Glen
One of the first noticeable differences in the environment was the thick fog that began not far after leaving the glen. Compared to Luminous Vale from earlier, this place was far less colourful and bright; it seemed as if all colour had been sucked out and only a uniform gray, in varying hues, was left to paint with. The trees here seemed eerie as they loomed into view from the thick banks of fog that swirled restlessly amongst their boughs.
Tanya and Saphira had tripped several times and were covered in pine needles and scratches, thanks to the fog obscuring even their own feet from view. Starscream, naturally, had no issue navigating thanks to his brilliant eyes. After two more minutes of endless flight, the steel raptor descended to the ground to allow his trainer and her trusted partner to catch up.
Breathing rather quickly, Tanya bent over slightly as she stopped next to the impassive bird, trying to calm her heart. There was something unsettling about the infinite amount of fog, and how there seemed to be no activity in the trees or on the ground from the area's inhabitants. "Both of you be aware. I don't want anything sneaking up on us," the girl told her Pokémon, earning nods.
Saphira stepped away slightly, holding her tail as if to try and use the flame atop it to peer into the fog. Starscream merely turned his head every which way before finally looking up. A sharp caw left his beak as he spotted something crouched on a branch about fifteen feet above where Tanya stood. She looked up, brushing her auburn hair from her face and squinting her eyes. "What is that?"

Indeed there was something waiting for Tanya on the branch up ahead, and it was something that she might have liked, but there was a possibility she’d find it gross. Spinarak looked down at the auburn-haired girl with a curisosity, not sure if it should try to approach her or not. The spider seemed nervous, and it cleaned its face with one of its legs as it tried to calm its nerves. Finally, it attached a spool of silk to the branch and descended, and it was only then did Saphira notice the giant web gleaming behind it. Had it done that all by itself? “Spinn…” The Spider Pokemon sounded…lonely, almost as it sat on the web that was now blocking Tanya’s path, and it seemed to want to keep her there. Gloomy Ravine was a scary place, and it didn’t want to stay there all alone, it was scared. The Hoothoot that lived there picked on it a lot, and other Spinarak tended to live in the deeper parts of the ravine, leaving it nothing to do but make its web bigger and bigger, and it didn’t want to go back to doing that, it would keep this girl here! __________________________________________________ Wild Encounter!

Spinarak Name: Ariadne Gender: Female Level: 14 Moves: Scary Face, Poison Sting, Leech Life, String Shot Ability: Insomnia Nature: Hardy Personality: Even though the mere sight of her sends people shrieking away in fear, Ariadne refuses to let this deter her from making friends. In her spare time, she likes to weave designs in her webs to impress everyone, and to her credit she has a real flair for art. She's quite fond of Tanya for saving her from a life of solitude and likes to wrap the girl up in silk as a sign of her affection. --
Tanya accepted the ball from Aster, recalling him to his ball and storing both back into her messenger bag. Tapping Saphira's shoulder gently, the flame-haired girl smiled reassuringly at the dragon as she extricated her head from the forest floor. "No more scary spiders for ya. We're backtracking. I don't think that Farfetch'd is around this spot," Tanya told her before standing up, whistling to Starscream.
He cawed irately and stalked back over to where she stood. "Sorry to get you moving so soon again. I just don't get the feeling that our feathered fiend is hanging out in this natural fog machine," she said with a pat to his large, sharp beak. Starscream huffed but dipped his head in acceptance.
Flaring his wings, the steel bird quickly took to the air again and circled above the fog, piercing through it with his sharp eyes. The path remained clear - to him - and easy to follow. Soaring forwards, the Skarmory began to lead the way out of the fog-blanketed ravine and to somewhere new.

Sandy Katayko The scars of your love... ------------------------------------------------
Gloomy Ravine wasn’t exactly the most…well, happy of places, if she had wanted to be bluntly obvious about it. She didn’t like the smell of burned trees, or the dark fog that seemed to hang over the area. After hitting another low hanging branch with her shoulder, she was getting tired of this place, really fast. Sandy shook her head, the sting of a couple of scratches from the twigs and other things on her hands and face bugging her.
“This place isn’t somewhere I’d choose to hang out.” She mentioned to Darryl, who was in her arms. Darryl looked up at her, her tail twitching. Then why were they here? Did they have something to do? She was so confused. Though that was alright, she didn’t have to know much to figure out how annoyed Sandy was. She had returned Hotaru earlier after she had tried to run off, chasing she didn’t even know what.
“Okay, keep your eyes peeled Darryl. I don’t think that last Farfetch’d would want to hang around here, but you can never be too careful. What I’m more worried about is the wild Pokemon.” She explained. Darryl had to wonder something though. Why did she want her to peel her eyes? Wasn’t that painful? Sandy was so weird sometimes…
[Staying here to look for anything.]

Gloomy Ravine was one corner of Ilex Forest that many would prefer to avoid. Rather than lush greenery or shades of crisp, golden, fallen leaves from the fresh chestnut bark of the tall trees, the area was instead the opposite. A thick grey fog loomed between the tree trunks, the not so colourful area instead coming across as a dim and gloomy monochrome location. It would be surprising to see Pokemon live in this area, let alone see footprints of other people who may have once ventured around here themselves. It wasnt just the lack of colour what made the place unwelcoming but also the amount of protruding thorned branches and slow hanging spider webs. The place almost looked as if it were a pathway to a witches lair.
Although the chance of a Farfetch'd hiding out here was probably zero, there was oddly other inhabitants. On the highest branches of the tallest trees, Zubat lingered in groups, dangling upside down with only their heightened senses, since they had no sight, to help them. This time, however, it wasnt a pesky bat to approach the female and her small Sandshrew. Instead, it was something much more uncommon. Through all the grim surroundings around them, something out of the ordinary suddenly captured Sandy's eyes. Well, it was a little hard to miss as it held the only bit of colour in the entire area. Between the shriveled leaves along the ground sat three emerald green leaves, all of which standing straight up as if they were alert, waiting for something to happen.
At first it appeared to be just some sort of plant but as Sandy walked straight by it decided to leap into action. Burrowing its little purple body out from beneath the dirt, it became clear that the leaves were infact an Oddish! Letting out a delicate cry, the Pokemon dashed to catch up with Sandy, although it's run turned into more of a slide as it slipped and ended up tumbling into her ankle.

OddishName: Whirlwind Gender: Male Level: 10 Attacks: Absorb, Sweet Scent, Acid Ability: Chlorophyll Nature/Personality: Whirlwind is more of a Pokemon who Sandy uses for contests, but he’s very good at what he does, combining his moves for just the right appeal. Sandy loves him because he knows what’s expected of him and is dedicated to making the right choices in the spotlight.
Sandy held Mellow tightly as the battle finished out, glad that Victoria had gotten out of the way so she could toss the Pokeball. It shook for a while until finally, it came to a stop. Victoria snorted at the red and white Sphere, quite mad at the creature inside, but Sandy had by now finished grooming her fur, so she was crisp and clean. Though Sandy looked down at Mellow, who was emitting a low whine.
“Mellow?” Are you okay?” Mellow didn’t respond as her entire form started glowing. All Sandy could do was hold her as her form began to split open, and a pair of wings emerged. This was followed by a peanut like form and cute little feet as well. Sandy’s eyes widened as she took in what just happened, before her a small butterfly fluttering, happy to finally have her freedom.
“FreeFree!” The new creature called, her wings whipping up tiny gusts that showed on the leaves around her. Sandy could have cried.
“Mellow, you’re so pretty now!” she called up at her, putting down the Cocoon now. She held out her arm and Mellow landed on it obediently, rubbing her cheek against Sandy’s.
“Of Course you always were, but wow!” She was really impressed with the creature, who gave a soft croon of her name. Victoria also looked impressed with the new form.
“Come on you two, let’s keep moving. Victoria, nice Battling.” Victoria mewled and followed after them.

Pushing through a number of bushes after dropping the first Farfetch'd off with Sylvester, the usual greenry which once surrounded her was about to completely change on a shocking level. As if something with great magical power had just sucked all the colour out of the area, Sharada found herself standing on the edge of Gloomy Ravine, rubbing her hands over her eyes frantically, afraid that she had just turned colour blind. Seeing that Arbok was still her lush shade of purple gave the trainer some hope though. "What the heck has gone on here? A fire maybe? Everything is just... Dull, grey, lifeless?"
Lifeless was one thing that it actually wasnt, however, the sound of frantic rustlings not made by herself or Arbok echoing through her ears. "Lets try and get outta here as quickly as possible, something about here is a bit off." Holding out one arm, she felt her Arbok slide her hood underneath it, trying to comfort her trainer despite the previous grumble about who were to hold the Farfetch'd.

Incoming from Shady GlenJustin and Simba leaned up against a depressing tree, and moved just before the pathetic trunk snapped from behind them. The aussie gave a sigh. I hope the bird is here... this place is just downright... depressing... He murmured, looking around for any signs of life. Simba sniffed at the ground and looked about. It was possible that the bird was here, so at least they were on the right track? Justin let out another Pokemon, Rhoan the Pignite, to accompany them. What a dump. She snorted. Simba nodded. Yeah... Pretty depressing. I hope Justin finds what he's looking for. I don't wanna stay here long. Gives me the creeps. Simba whined, looking about. Justin sat on a rock and looked at a makeshift map he tried to make from memory before looking about again. We'll stay here and see if the bird shows up. Keep your eyes peeled, okay guys? He asked, not phased by all of the walking. ... Yet. [Staying here, Farfetch'd encounter needed]

Gloomy Ravine was indeed a depressing sight to behold. It was almost as if some sort of magical force had sucked any sign of life and colour out of the woodland and replaced it with an array of grey. Toppled trunks and twigs from weak trees scattered the grim forest floor, crisp leaves ripping in agony as Justin, Simba and the recently released Rhoan trampled over them, exploring deeper into the area. Having been led here by Sylvester's words of wisdom, or rough hints anyway, it was surprising that anything would want to hang around here. The place was so lacking in colouring that it was almost impossible to miss a passing Pokemon. The only foliage from brushes or trees were those which curled on the ground. An odd hollow tree trunk or boulder could perhaps be a suitable hiding place for a short while. Leaving the only thing which was perhaps aiding the avian being this light fog which lingered between the standing trees.
Amazingly, however, the Farfetch'd was indeed in the area. Having had enough of his trainer ordering the move Cut on every standing tree which surrounded it and it's cutting partner, the bird had decided to wander off on it's own. It had traveled a little further than expected, sliding down a small pebbled ledge and rolling through a few berry bushes, resulting in it wandering to the Gloomy Ravine. It had been here once or twice before, infact Sylvester was going to be collecting some already sliced logs from here later in the day. But without either bird to protect him, he was left defenseless and unable to traverse through the forest to catch them without a Pokemon. Pushing it's leek into it's beak, the Farfetch'd used both of it's wings to flutter up onto a boulder, were it sat with a sigh. Wanting it rest it's achy yellow feet, the bird was hoping for a nice moment of relaxing. Only, as it slowly turned it squawked at the sight of Justin! Darn, it's trainer was a speedy one if he had already received some help... Looking as if it were about to flap away, Justin had to move fast if he wanted to grab it.

Justin patted Freyja on the head as she rested up, carrying the Farfetch'd in her mouth. He wasn't fond of birds, so he might as well let Freyja carry it. It wasn't far to get to where Sylvester was sitting, so why not? Don't hurt it anymore girl, we've gotta return that bird, okay? He asked. She gave a small nod to not hurt the bird, and waddled off behind him. Simba followed, purring slightly as he caught up to Justin's side. The Australian trainer returned the Gallade and the Pignite, leaving just the three to trapse through the dark, depressing woods and up to Sylvester. Justin thought as they walked. Hmmm. Somewhere the opposite of here. We'll have to see. He murmured, and disappeared into the growth with his Pokemon, on way to Shady Glen. Exiting to Shady Glen

Proceeding out of the gloomy passage that connected Shady Glen to the deathly setting of Gloomy Ravine, Tobias' single cigarette was enough to cast a glow over the area he was in. The storm above seemed to be agitating the clouds but no amount of Mother Nature's fury could penetrate the gloom that had taken root in the area. Feeling as if something was falling his every step, Tobias had taken out an insurance policy in between the areas of the forest. Walking alongside the eye patched criminal was a diminutive albeit muscular creature bearing a large wooden timber over its shoulder. " Flak, be on the look out for any pre-emptive ambushes. I do not trust the feel of this forest. Bedevilling..." Nodding, the normally brash Timburr had even been cowered by the woods around them. Clinging to Tobias' shoulder was his Pansear, Prometheus. Looking around with suspicion, even the monkey didn't feel particularly right. It was almost as if eyes were watching them out of the foliage. " Given what that dolt had told us... I can't be sure." Turning his head to the side in Prometheus' general direction, he gave the money a scouting order. " Go, scavenge the area and look for signs of a black apricorn." A sense of unwillingness, it was only as Tobias remained perfectly still that the monkey got the hint. Jumping up off his shoulder, the acrobatic Pansear began scouring for the requested fruit. " You, stay here." Referring to Flak, the Timburr felt quite happy he didn't have to be walking off anywhere. It may not have instilled Tobias with much confidence if he knew his enforcer wasn't feeling particularly brave but being in the trainer's presence meant a whole lot more back up in the form of his other lackeys. And for that, Flak was grateful. Sticking his wooden plank down as he leaned against it, the humanoid fighter kept a good eye out but jumped out of his skin a few moments later as a rustle from above scared the wits out of him. " ...!!!" So too did Tobias, reaching for his gun instinctively despite it being without ammo, it was thankfully only Prometheus returning. Holding his arms up high and presenting what he had found, Tobias snatched it out of the monkey's hands and examined it carefully. " There is no doubt. A Black Apricorn." Dropping the item to his feet, he started to turn around on the spot. " Come out you feathered rat." Given Sylvester's clues, this had to be it. Readying themselves, Prometheus and Flak began to cover one another's backs as they twisted around circularly.

Dark, dingy and stained with the colour of grey, Gloomy Ravine was not the most safest place to wander in this avast forest. A deathly atmosphere floated amongst the faint mist which floated eerily between tree trunks, beckoning those new to the woodland to venture in deeper and become lost in the unrelenting jungle of foliage. Luckily, Tobias wasn't there for a simple wander, his mind was set on a task at hand and despite how creepy the place seemed for even this hardened criminal, the chances of him moving off task were low. With Flak protecting his side and Prometheus dashing off to scout the area, the unusual commotion had attracted the attention of the very creature whom he was after. The leek wielding avian, also known as Farfetch'd.
Cautiously watching from a safe distance behind a tree stump, the brown bird kept it's eyes glued to the view of Tobias' back. The human was searching for something and the bird knew exactly what. The stupid boy it knew as Sylvester never knew how to keep his nose out, for once the birds just wanted some peace instead of wasting their days cutting down trees. Just as startled as the bushy bearded male and his Timburr as Prometheus bounced out from the bushes with a Black Apricorn to present, the duck like creature had actually squawked out in surprise. Realising the noise it had made, the creature hid fearfully, eyes flinching upon hearing his demand. Despite it's nerves, the bird tried to think to itself calmly. Really, all he had was a monkey and some other humanoid creature.
Why, this Farfetch'd had trained against even the fiercest of Machop in order to get strong by the Kiln Master, neither of them would prove much hassle... Right? Somehow convincing itself that it would come out on top, the avian took in a deep breath before hopping out of it's hiding place. Snapping it's beak to draw in his attention, the bird spun it's leek around threateningly. Maybe he would be scared off by witnessing a bit of slicing motion.

Remaining paused as he watched the battle unfold, Tobias had a fair amount of confidence in not only Flak but also the Timburr species itself. Back in Unova he always remembered them being factored into heavy construction around the bustling development of the region. But he also recalled them being a common sight for the various criminal factions due to the fact that their sheer muscle and strength was applicable as enforcers. The only problem was, they weren't the fastest offence in the world. His eye narrowing as he gauged the extent of the Farfetch'd's strength. The goose was fast, that much was clear. So fast that it was perhaps understandable as to how easily they managed to disappear from Sylvester's sight. Perhaps the youth wasn't such a bumbling idiot after all. Nevertheless, it would be the strength of the bird's attack that would be most worrying. As it started to try and confuse the brawny creature for an opening, the Farfetch'd let off a confusing string of hits that staggered Flak backwards. However, this Timburr wasn't just any old Fighting type. Grinning his teeth threateningly, the thug made good with the boulder nearby and as the attack struck with sheer berserker rage, Tobias made a small nod. " One down, one to go. Progress is yielding better than anticipated. Hm. Now..." Going for a Pokeball in his belt, he sent out his Porygon, obviously in need of a task. " Lateralus. Run software, prison, execute." Unresponding, the Porygon simply hovered over to where the Farfetch'd was and made an odd expulsion of light that sucked up the Farfetch'd into a prism like encasement. " Follow, we shall go looking for this next irksome bird." Stepping on with Prometheus close to his eye patch, Flak and Lateralus followed on in earnest as they tried to keep up with Tobias' long strides. After a while of adventuring, a rather unsettling fact became apparent to him. " This forest is alive." He mumbled. His eye darting at a thick blockage of thorns, he was sure they had come from that way. " This is most certainly the way I came." Examining around, he instead made an alternate choice by following the only path available to him.
