Today just wasn't Kate's day. First, she had failed to capture an Abra. And now she was lost near the outskirts of that Arceus-forsaken forest. But she would never admit she didn't know where she was going or that she was clueless. Her parents had paid for her to have the best education possible at a prestigious Trainer's School. Becoming an 'Ace Trainer' wasn't easy. You either had to have money or skill. And Kate liked to think she had both.

It was now that Kate would cross paths with Justin, the male having just beaten a boisterous youth named Samuel. Kate had met the boy once and, like everyone else she met, couldn't stand him. Too loud and obnoxious. A complete peasant. She looked at Justin and scoffed. "Oh look. Another rookie on his way to see that cow Whitney."

Kate had battled Whitney once and lost, giving her reason for her grudge. This was her reason for being out here as well. She had come out to train her Pokemon before her rematch. But it had proven more trouble than it was worth. The local Pokemon were weak, and so were the Trainers here. Why couldn't she just buy a Gym Badge? Smirking, she sent out a Pokemon. A Shellder. "You look pretty weak. Why not try to prove me wrong?"

Even though Justin was really trying to make it back to Goldenrod for a rest, something always seemed to come up. It was either Pokemon, or a trainer, or someone looking for directions cause they were completely lost. But when this girl stopped him in the middle of the path... judging by her attitude, the way she was holding herself, and just the general clothing she chose to wear... Justin knew exactly what 'trainer type' this girl was, and he groaned inwardly. Another Ace Trainer? These guys were everywhere!

They just seemed to rub Justin the wrong way. When the girl insulted him and called him weak, Justin's fuse was all but spent. Hey look, I ain't weak. Getting real tired of gettin' called that, too. He grumbled, shoving his hands in his pockets to pull out a pokeball. He could let out Dayn, but that was a show-off technique, and he didn't want to be as low as the other girl. He wanted to send out Simba, but Surreo wasn't getting the exercise he needed. C'mon, bud. Let's stomp this girl into the ground.

Surreo sprung forth from the Pokeball, and cast a glance over at Justin. She's made you angry. I can feel it from here.
Yeah... these damn ace trainers and their attitudes.
It's a water type. Why not send out Simba? You're getting anxious for him to evolve.
Yeah, I know, but... I want you to get your fair share of battles too. Besides, your Magical Leaf will still sting these guys pretty hard, same as any electric attack Simba has.

Surreo nodded, and turned to the Ace Trainer, casting his thoughts forward to her, as he gave a bow. Best of luck, Miss Ace Trainer.

You know what to do, bud. Justin paused and grinned, glad he didn't have to broadcast his thoughts though his mouth. Little miss Ace Trainer would be a bit surprised, hopefully. Magical Leaf spam time.[/i][/center]

When Kate got Surreo's telepathy, she grinned confidently, as if knowing she didn't need "luck". There wasn't much of a show, and wasn't much need to spam Magical Leaf either. Surreo sliced the air with his neon-green glowing blade, and summoned some equally neon-green leaves toward the Shellder. Even though the water/ice Pokemon clamped its shell shut, the leaves managed to cut the seemingly rock-solid shell.

After this attack, the Shellder unclasped itself and basically passed out. Looks like Kate was the weak one. Well, not completely weak though, as she had another Pokemon. "Well, PROVE ME THIS! Go, Cloyser!"

Out from the Pokeball was a larger, similarly clamping shelled Pokemon. Could Justin prove her that she's weaker?

The battle was definitely tilting into Justin's favor. The last few had been, and he had to fight off the impeding feeling of cockiness. He had to watch it, because his ego swelled with every Pokemon his team defeated. Surreo closed his hand and the scythe that produced the power retracted. He turned to Justin and gave the trainer a swift nod, and the trainer returned it with a grin. Doing good, bud. Of course I am. Surreo allowed himself a little bit of gloat room. After all, why not?

We'll have to finish this one off as quick, too.
Bet you I can knock it out in one shot.

Yup.

Surreo unsheathed his blade of energy and swiped at the air towards the Cloyster, and his lip curled as the leaves hurtled towards the shelled creature.

Definitely, Cloyster was way more sturdier than the Shellder. After Surreo's leaves moved magically and elegantly toward the water Pokemon, it was still alive and intact. Kate put a hand on her hip and wagged a finger on the other, gesturing "No" to Justin. Smiling, she spoke, "Nuh-uh, luck is not on your side today, mister! Cloyster, Rest!"

The giant bivalve clam grinned as big as its smile could touch the shell. Then, it clammed itself shut and began resting, as its body glowed white. For now, the water/ice Pokemon would be resting just for a little bit. All of those damages inflicted by the magical leaves were completely restored, there was not a single leaf cut left on the shell.

Justin sighed and looked over at Surreo, and the psychic Pokemon met his gaze with a bit of amusement. The Ace trainer waggled her finger at him, and he wanted to break it off. But, he bit back is annoyance and crossed his arms, receiving a thought from Surreo. He did enjoy being quiet the entire battle. The only person he wanted to talk to was his Pokemon, but he'd have to communicate eventually. But for now, he could chat with Surreo about the new development within the battle.

She's only postponing the inevitable.
I know, but i've gotta give her credit. That was good.
Yes, but by my calculations, it will take two turns for my magical leaf attack to take down her Cloyster, and her Cloyster will still be asleep. So all she's done is postponing her loss.
I forgot how much you like to battle. I always see you as the mediator, not the fighter.
It's nice to get out occasionally, but I do prefer to mediate. But a good battle is never off my menu.

Justin nodded to his Pokemon, and gave a little golf clap for the ace trainer. Not bad, I didn't forsee a Rest. But, will your Pokemon wake up in enough time? Justin asked, curious if the trainer had a berry or something. In the meantime, Surreo prepared his next attack, a Magical Leaf, for the water Pokemon. It was a good defense, but Justin would never use the attack Rest without having some sort of berry, like a Chesto, attached to the Pokemon so they immediately wake up. But, Justin was a different trainer, and he was sure he did things that people questioned. To each their own, Justin thought. Go ahead, bud.

Again as the glowing green leaves flew from Surreo and Justin's side of the battle it buffeted the large and sturdy clam pokemon's shell. It left a few marks but the pokemon kept resting. It didn't do a lot of damage obviously and the shell pokemon kept sleeping. Kate knew it would wake in a turn or two. A smug smile played of Kate's lips as she looked to Justin.

"I think you may need to rethink your tactics, oh wise on." she mocked while crossing her arms to see what was going to be next that they threw at her.

The Razor leaf had been a success, and thankfully, the Cloyster would still be asleep for a good while. Rethink my tactics? Sorry, I think there's a possible clear win in store. Your Pokemon is still snoozing away. Justin called out, snapping a quick picture of the Cloyster before Surreo grunted. Best not get too cocky, you never know what might happen. Although, it does appear that winning is certainly evident. The psychic Pokemon murmured, turning to face the Pokemon once more. I believe the term you enjoy using is... spam. The Gallade chuckled, firing off another Magical Leaf in the direction of the sleeping Pokemon.

Kate giggled. Now, you'd think most people, in this kind of situation wouldn't be giggling, right? Well, sure. They weren't Kate. Now Kate was different, and to most people it wasn't even a good different. It was that kind of different, that kind of made you want to either knock her block off or run away, you know, if you weren't one for hitting overly-peppy Ace trainers. Okay, in general, she was also kind of mean, but that was only when she was in a bad mood. And Whitney was a cow with a cow, so she deserved her earlier comment, and nothing anyone could say was going to prove the girl otherwise.

"Wow, quite the charmer. Strong and Good Looking are a good combination~" She commented. Surreo kind of stared at her, one paw to his temple. Girls were irritating. This one went from sure fire win to Grade-C flirt in what, five seconds? He wasn't even exactly sure who this woman was, but whoever she was, she indeed seemed to be the queen of mood swings. Maybe it was because it was clear to her that her...hovering Clam Bar wasn't going to wake up, and she was hoping they'd take some pity on her. No chance.

Surreo let his leaves fly, the colored serrated leaves digging into every inch of the Cloyster's shell. Then it just kind of...collapsed there. Like, fell onto its...er...He supposed they could call it a face. Katie sighed, returning the Pokemon to its Pokeball. She did this kind of strut- again, grade- C, over to Justin, slipping an envelope filled with Money, and a slip of paper, either her number or some kind of death threat, Surreo wasn't sure, to him, and then she walked off with a 'Call Me' Motion....well, that was....weird.

Justin watched as the battle ended as quickly as it started, thankful that it had tipped in their favor. Not thankful for the unwarranted attention that he'd picked up from his opponent. The money was nice, but the phone number was... unwarranted. Yeah, just keep using that word. She told him to call her, and he stuffed the number in his pocket absentmindedly. He returned Surreo for a nice rest before shoving his hands into his pockets, beginning to walk a bit more. He thumped the pokeball open at his side that contained his Luxio, Simba, releasing the feline to walk with him.

"Maybe we'll get you evolved here soon, before we go to the gym. How would you like that, eh?"

Justin suggested. The Luxio, Simba, purred and rubbed his face against the hip of Justin's jeans affectionately.

"Let's try to avoid the chicks though, shall we?"

His accent drawled around the strange sentence. Never thought he'd be using those words in that combination before. Tall, lanky and awkward? Not usually what the ladies ordered. It had to be the accent.

"Where's that guy where did he go?" Tod asked hurriedly as his now healed Psyduck hung loosely from his arms. The fat duck had lost last time, but maybe he'd win this time if they tried hard enough. The Pokemon Had no idea why Tod was seeking out the same guy that had beaten them before. The cheery kid was also an idiot of sorts, it seemed. The boy looked around frantically. Had he already went home? What might have happened? No! No he thought he saw him! Running after the person, he skidded to a stop and just past Justin, jogging in place in front of him and panting. "Mr. I gotta battle you again, Kay? Let me show you! I'm sure Psyduck can be strong this time!" he pleaded Placing Psyduck on the ground and jogging backwards in place. "Some mean guys at the Pokemon center are teasing me cause they saw me lose, so now i needa show them what's what!" He mentioned. ---- Information! Camper Tod wants to Battle again! Camper Tod sent out Psyduck again (♂, Level 25)

Simba's ears perked up as the boy they'd seen earlier ran back towards them again, Psyduck in hand (literally) and ready for another match. As the bird hung from the crossed arms of the boy, Justin got the impression the avian wasn't quite up for the task. But, how could he say no when the kid sought him out again?

"Uh, look 'ere, eh, I don't know if that's a good idea 'er not.."

Justin held his hands up in a 'no' gesture, but then stopped. The kids would make fun of him even more if he was denied a battle. At least the kid had guts to come back and fight, right? The best warriors are the one that got back up, dusted themselves off, and ran towards the fight once more.

"A'ight, kid. Let's see what'cha got. Simba, yer up."

His thick accent slurred some of his words, but it didn't matter. His Pokemon were used to it, so that was all it took. The feline jumped infront of his trainer, fur beginning to ripple with static and electricity. When Justin was in place, and the boy had jogged to his own, the photographer pulled his camera up and gave his command.

"Give 'em a Spark!"

Snapping a few photos of the charge and execution of the attack was something Justin enjoyed. It was always hard to get the lighting just right, because if you were off or moved for a split second, the picture would white out.

Camper Tod had been practicing a lot with Psyduck since Justin had last battled him. He really wanted to prove he was a good trainer so all the other children would stop making fun of him. Tod had not captured any Pokemon since Justin's last encounter or even raised the things level he had just been trying to teach the yellow duck how to endure attacks. Only a battle against a trainer who had bested him so easily last time however would be able to tell if it would pay off and he was glad Justin accepted his challenge.

"Thank you so much for another battle I really want to see how much Simba has grown since our last battle." he said as he laid Psyduck down in front of him. He knew the last battle did not go very well at all but in his heart felt felt like things may be different this time. Hoping to get the first move he ordered Psyduck to use a pretty powerful water type move. "Psyduck let's try a Water Pulse Attack on Simba." he said but before the duck Pokemon could even begin to react Simba had ran up covered in electricity and shocked the poor Pokemon with a Spark attack.

Camper Tod though the battle was over but by some miracle the Psyduck got back up with a sliver of health left. Obeying it's trainers command it sent a supersonic pulse of water towards Simba causing decent damage given how bad off Psyduck was. " Well at least this time we got an attack off. You can still do this Psyduck." The young boy said despite the obviously poor situation he found himself in.

The trainer whistled through his teeth as the battle began, hoping that the duck would survive at least one turn. It wasn't fair that Justin had chosen a super effective attack right off the bat, but he did want to win. However, thinking about what the boy said, and the kids that had made fun of him... His conflicted heart wanted the duck to win at least one round. So, of course, when Simba obliterated the yellow duck, Justin sighed.

"Damn, you roasted 'em, didn'tcha?"

He murmured, but was cut off by the sight of the duck standing back up. Whatever Pokemon, Arceus, Mew, whatever that Psyduck believed in had kept it standing. Albeit, wobbly and weakly. Still, it was enough to still land an attack, which doused Simba with a bit of water, but nothing much more.

"That's an impressive duck ya got there."

Justin called out from behind his camera.

"Simba, Spark again."

The blonde hoped that the kids wouldn't make fun of him, considering the Psyduck had survived an attack that went against all odds. Hoping he gained the kid some reputation, he watched as Simba charged himself up for the spark attack. This battle was ending, but at least it was on a good note.

As Camper Tod though over what would be a good choice of move for the next round he did not have any chance to react at all when he saw Smiba run towards his Psyduck yet again surrounded by electricity. The poor duck Pokemon was lit up like a Christmas tree before falling to the ground barely breathing with blackened feathers as a result of the attack. Camper Tod was stunned to see his Pokemon in such a shape but at the same time awestruck but Simba's Power.

" Wow that was powerful poor Psyduck did not stand a chance. I see you have been raising him well. I still have a lot more training to do with Psyduck if we ever hope to get as good as you two are." He said as he picked up the poor duck Pokemon and was about to carry it to the Pokemon Center for treatment. But before he left he just had to walk over and hug Simba for being such a wonderful inspiration to both him and his Pokemon to keep trying to improve themselves. After giving it a hug he knew he would have to give Justin something for being such a great trainer.

He reached into his pocket and handed Justin what little money he had on hand as a sign of another impressive victory. " He is the 230 Pokedollars I have. I know it is not much but you have earned it for such an impressive battle." He then finally walked away to get his poor Psyduck treated after taking such a beating.
