Haley sighed, crossing her arms behind her head as she limped through Cherrygrove City, Honou smiling as she walked beside her trainer, and Flounder clinging to the top of her hat. The little Sentret was looking around in wonder, having never entered a human city for fear of being captured or attacked. Well, he had tried once, but a stray Mightyena had attempted to eat him, so he feared a repeat.
‘Ooooh! What’s that?’ The Sentret gasped, pointing to a colorful sign that hung above a bakery. Honou looked as well, having been bred, born, and raised in the laboratory. The fire-type sniffed at the smells that flowed from the building, nearly toppling over as she attempted to breathe in as much of the scents as she could.
‘Mmmmm! Haley, that smells good!’ Hon smiled, tugging on the humans pants. Haley chuckled, looking at what had excited her Pokemon.
“Yeah, that place is pretty good. Probably smells good, too, huh?” She smiled. “But we already ate, so you can’t have any. Maybe later, okay?” She gave a loud yawn, and limped to a bench, feeling her weak leg beginning to hurt from all the exercise. “Let’s take a break, okay?” She looked around, before grabbing her water bottle and letting her Pokemon drink from it.

Ethan walked by the city of Cherrygrove and noticed a girl sitting down with her Sentret and Charmander. Normally he wouldn't care about other people's Pokemon, but the Sentret was kind of bothering him in a way that, it looked like it really want to eat.
"Your Sentret's eyes look like it really wanted to go eat at the bakery. I'm Ethan, from Hoenn. Mauville City," the young man greeted the resting trainer politely, hopefully not disturbing her weary mind.
"Don't fall asleep, some people's Pokemon have gone missing for hours just because the trainer napped on a bench with their Pokemon outside of their Pokeball," he joked and smiled briefly before walking on again.
OOC: maybe you can initiate the battle IC lol

Haley smiled kindly at the male trainer, sitting up as he spoke. “Yeah, Flounder’ll eat just about anything. I’m Haley, from Violet City. Uh, in Johto, though you probably knew that.” She offered her hand, Honou watching the other trainer with curious eyes. “These are my partners. The Charmander is Honou, and the Sentret is Flounder.” She stood, Flounder leaping onto her shoulder and Honou jumping to the ground. “Oh, thanks.” She bobbed her head in a nod. “I wasn’t going to sleep, but I’ll keep that in mind. It’s good to know of what can happen. She stepped forward as he began to walk away. “Um, wait! Would you… like to have a Pokemon battle?” She asked, noticing the Pokeballs he carried. OOC: Gotta love Haley and her poor social skills.

"Charmander, oh! I started my journey with him too! He's kind of troublesome so I usually keep him in my Pokeball. Though I have gotten other Pokemons from gifts and family as well..." he trailed his words as he pondered that for a moment. So he's away from home to prove a point to his family even though they sent him some Pokemons? Hearing that the girl wanted to have a Pokemon battle, he had a sudden idea. He spoke, "Maybe your Sentret would be hungry after a Pokemon battle. Go, Ratz! Whoever this girl sends out first, go for a Quick Attack!" Out from his Pokeball, a purple rodent appeared. The mouse's muscles tensed as he prepared for the battle. OOC: First, if you know in typical mod posts, you would need to display both side's Pokemon, name of Pokemon (or trainer's Pokemon or wild Sentret), level, hit points, any status (stat changes and status effects), and a text to say what move the Pokemons each used. This is a calculator we use to calculate damage. You can plug in the move, ability, level, species on here. -Gender and happiness and hp percent I usually don't touch unless I know the Pokemon might call for it. (say, ability Rivalry, or Blaze, Swarm, Overgrow, Torrent, etc.) Note the number order of Hp-Atk-Def-Sp Atk-Sp Def-Spd. Hp is the max hp where you would display health as a fraction. Speed determines who attack first, but you might need to take into consideration of abilities like Swift Swim. In the case of equal speed, I just RNG integers and assign numbers by alphabetical species name or something fair. This is a random number generator I use. Before I calculate any damage, I usually do a quick check of a move's accuracy. Most moves are 100%, but there are moves that are below that. Pokemon affected by evasion or accuracy will also have accuracy affected. But I'm not doing that now since I am sure the only Pokemon I have to alter accuracy would faint your Pokemon too fast lol. After checking speed and the move's affect, I usually roll in this order: Accuracy (if needed because of stat changes or base accuracy), critical hit (look at Bulbapedia for %, as well as the move used and items), move's effect (like Bubble 10% to reduce speed or Ember 10% to burn, etc.) Then look at the calculator again, if the move crits, I check critical hit. Make sure the Attack and Defender is what you wanted. Then after calculating damages, you check for health reductions like burn, poison, leech seed. Sleep and confusion is another thing you can pick up should you pass the mod test. On the calculator again, I set the numbers 1 to 100 with showing decimals for the above things. Then, after checking all those, I will uncheck decimals and input the minimum and maximum values for the RNG to determine how much does an attacking move actually do. That's all and I'm too sleepy now lol. I hope this is a good start. Now you can write Haley's response and post the battle display.

“Honou’s pretty good, but kind of head strong. She like’s go ahead with an attack instead of waiting.” She smiled, rubbing the lizard-like Pokemon’s scaly head. She couldn’t help but wonder what his reasons for his Pokemon journey were, but had enough knowledge to know not to ask. When the boy accepted her challenge, sending out a Rattata whom went by the nickname Ratz, she patted Honou on the head. “Honou, let’s go! I want you to use Growl!” The Charmander leapt from her side, baring it’s teeth and puffing up it’s flame in an attempt to intimidate the Rattata. Ratz bared his fangs, and leapt forward, dashing towards the Charmander and launching himself into the air, launching a solid Quick Attack into the fire-types side and knocking her back several feet. “C’mon Honou, you can do it!” Haley cried, watching the Charmander struggle to her feet. The Charmander snarled, before letting out a loud growl, knocking down Ratz’s attack. ____________________________________________________ Ethan’s Rattata |Level 8| Health 25/25 100% Status Attack -1 Don’t mess with me! So good so far, just note that my Rattata's name is Ratz, and you should reflect that. Sometime a mod will rename a trainer battle's Pokemon, and the names would have to reflect that.
all Ev's should be 0 All IV's should be 31
Then, Charmander's hp shold be 28 and Rattata's 25
IC:
"If you're going for defensive, I would go for that now. Ratz, Tail Whip the Charmander!" Ethan folded his arms and ordered. The purple rodent wagged his tail gently before began running toward the orange lizard once again.
"Your Charmander's head strong? Mine is just annoying with little games, like the one time he scratched a light pole with his claws. That noise was irritating..." the male trainer winced as he uttered his Pokemon's personality.

OOC: Sorry, I didn’t notice that. Haley frowned softly at the opposing trainers order. Ratz chirped, wagging his tail and lowering Hon’s defense. Honou tilted her head, the cuteness of the attack getting to her, lowering her defense. “Honou, it’s Tail Whip! Try and shake it off, and use Ember!” Honou nodded, crying out and wagging her tail as she gathered the flames in her stomach, feeling the heat rise until it pooled in her throat. The Charmander stared at Ratz as the normal-type Pokemon began to charge. As the Rattata grew nearer, she opened her maw and let the small flames fly from her mouth, striking Ratz and sending it flying. Ratz got back up and glared at Honou and Haley. “Well, at least he provides some amusement. But, that doesn’t sound too good…” She cringed, thinking of the terrible noise of claws against chalkboard. “Honou likes to go ahead with an attack. But I think it’s better for them to be head strong or annoying instead of one who just stands there and does it’s masters bidding.” ____________________________________________________ Ethan’s Ratz |Level 8| Health 18/25 71% Status Attack -1 Is that all you got? "I think that depends from Pokemon to Pokemon. If the Pokemon becomes big or independent with wings, I wouldn't want them to attack without me, haha," Ethan eased into another joke again, despite sounding like he was discriminating on Pokemon's sizes.
"So your Charmander learned Ember huh? My Charmander haven't learn the attack yet. Ratz, focus on the Charmander and used Quick Attack again!" he ordered his mouse to attack again, hoping to see what his Charmander would be after he trains Dynner some more, of course.

OOC: What I got for the Ratz damage didn’t seem right to me, but that’s what the calculator said. “Yeah, you’re right there!” Haley laughed. “Definitely wouldn’t want an out of control Salamance on your team!” Her eyes narrowed as she tried to plan out an attack scenario, hearing Ethan command another Quick Attack. “Hon! Let’s use Ember!” She cried, and Honou nodded, setting her claws into the ground to help her stay steady as the purple mouse Pokemon charged forward, fangs bared before digging in it’s claws as it launched into her. She was barely able to keep on her feet, but launched the flames into her belly at him, striking him and singing his fur, sending him flying, but Ratz struggled to his feet. So I was checking the hp again. You got Rattata right, but Im not sure how you got 4 damages from Ratz's Quick Attack. With Charmander -1 defense and Rattata -1 Attack, Rattata could still do at least 7-9 damages.
Your charmander started with 19/26, then i tell you to fix the hp so it would be 21/28. Well, 21-17 (current charmander health you're showing) is still a bit low. Maybe check the calculator again?
Make sure you correctly input the Pokemon, level, and stat changes. If you click "Stat boosts", you can adjust buffs and debuffs.
IC: "Heh, well, I'm not a dragon tamer so I don't have to worry about Salamence. I might have to worry about a Charizard flying out of control and trying to burn the whole town," Ethan jested again, but remained calm as he watched the battle. The battle wasn't going as well as he would like. Even though Ratz have the speed advantage, it was clearly weaker than the Charmander.
"Mind if I switch Pokemon? If you don't, then..." he withdrew a Pokeball from his pockets. "Tempo, start with a Supersonic!"
Out from the Pokeball a small, tadpole Pokemon bounced about, squeaking and wagging his tail on the ground, enjoying himself.
OOC: time for a switch out! let's see how you do this. whenever a pokemon is switched out, the other pokemon gets to use a move. Then, the new pokemon in the battle and the original other pokemon face each other as usual, by speed order (or priority move)
Maybe you can show me the fixed hp before my pokemon switches. Put it in OOC if you want.
looks like stumpy the bidoof is yours, btw. XD

“Well, you could say you are, because you are training Charmander, whom is similar to a dragon type.” Haley joked with a smirk. “But anyone Pokemon could break away and do that, so long as they have the right moves.” “Sure, go ahead!” She agreed, as he asked if it would be alright of him to switch out his Pokemon. Now, Honou! Before he gathers his bearings, use Scratch! She had never before seen this Pokemon, but from it’s tadpole like appearance, she could assume that it was a water type, and Honou’s Ember wouldn’t do much damage. The fire-type cried out her affirmative, and charged forward, claws slashing. When she was in front of Tempo, she used her momentum to slash at the tadpole-like Pokemon. Tempo squealed as it was send flying, but rolled over and began to bounce again, before letting out a loud squealing sound. Honou ducked and covered her ears, waiting out the attack. “What Pokemon is that?” Haley asked, watching Honou stretch herself out and shake her head. “Honou, use Scratch, one more time!” The flame-tailed lizard chaaaaared and launched herself forward, bringing her sharp claws down in another slash, sending Tempo flying. Ethan sighed and slammed both palms on his forehead. He knew Supersonic would missed. Deciding to change tactic, he ordered his tadpole Pokemon, "Alright, go for a Bubble, Tempo!"
Looking at how the Charmander was scratching his water Pokemon with that furious claws, he was thinking maybe he should end the battle early after one Pokemon faints. After all, this was just a practice, right? He told himself to not switch out Pokemon again, of course.

Haley gave a quiet snicker as Ethan pressed his palms to his head, obviously exasperated about the missed Supersonic. Her soft eyes flicked over to Honou, whom leapt back several strides in preparation for her attack. Both trainer and Pokemon looked at the opponent as he gave his Pokemon a command. “Honou, use Scratch, one more time!” Haley cried, knowing that Tempo would have the first attack. The tadpole Pokemon shivered and bounced forward, taking a deep breath and filling it’s mouth with water. It suddenly reared back before jerking forward, blowing a stream of bubbles at the orange fire-type. Honou cried out, crossing her stubby arms in front of her in a weak attempt at protection. Once the attack was done, the Tympole panting slightly, Honou took a deep breath and charge forward, claws held out to her side. She snarled at the Tempo, eyes narrowed, before leaping forward and slashing her cruel claws down on the Pokemon’s tail. ______________________________________________________________________ Ethan’s Tempo |Level 10| Health 17/33 52% Status Temple‘s Bubbled landed! -8 HP! "Well, your Charmander is certainly stronger than mine. Maybe I'll have him fight one of your Pokemon next time? Tempo, go for another Bubble!" he was impressed by the girl's Charmander who managed to deal quite fair number of damages on his water Pokemon.
The Tympole flopped happily and readied for another bubble attack. He inhaled and then carefully timed himself before exhaling the bubbles.

“That would be fun!” Haley chuckled. “But do you mind if I trade ‘er out? I received a new Pokemon and I wanna see how she does.” The little fire-type waved, saluted, then scrambled back and sat down next to Haley’s legs. The white-haired girl grabbed a Poke Ball off her belt, and lobbed it into the air. The red beam formed into a small, mouse-like Pokemon who was dominantly yellow. Its ears were tipped black, and it had a scarf-like marking on its throat, along with a solid black tail. “Ethan, meet my newest partner, Yokina.” She smiled, bobbing her head towards the electric-type. Yokina cheered and leapt into the air, greeting her opponent. The tiny mouse was thrown when a stream of bubbles struck her, knocking her off her feet. Yokina squeaked, and struggled to her feet.
