A stroll under the twinkling expanse of midnight sky, dotted with stars, should have been quite peaceful. But as Tanya surveyed the strewn branches, trees, and various Pokémon, peace was the last thing she was feeling. 'Why is it so messy? Did those Pokémon do it?' Moka asked from her perch on Tanya's shoulder, a baffled look on her face. Perhaps in her haste to escape the city, Tanya had failed to hear anything about whatever had happened to Route 36. It seemed so unlikely, she thought as she gazed at the wreckage, that something so terrible would escape her notice. The trees left standing bore some damage as well, unable to escape whatever had raged through the route. Something about the scene made her shiver and draw her jacket close, wondering what could have possibly happened.
Tanya ran a hand along one of the busted fences, frowning when it came away coated in berry juices. "Moka? Think you can do a quick scout of the area?" she asked, wiping her hand along an untouched section of fence, though not quick enough to escape some staining. The Crobat nodded, her four wings silently carrying her through the night like a specter. (It's like a Pokémon came stomping through here in a fit of anger or something. But what could have caused so much harm?) Still walking along at a slow pace, Tanya jumped when a loud squish sounded out under her foot, a flattened berry revealing itself to be the culprit.
Heralding Moka's return was a quiet screech, the purple bat shaking her head. Tanya sighed, though it wasn't as if she was really expecting to find the source of destruction hanging around. "Thanks anyways. Keep an eye out though; your eyes are more useful than mine at this hour," the redhead mused. Wan moonlight lent the area a rather unsettling cast, but it wasn't enough for plain human eyes to see by. 'You got it!' Moka squeaked in response. Seeming pleased with her new task, the happy Crobat fluttered away from her trainer to check out the area, eager to make use of her abilities.
((OOC: Just one minor request this time; swap out Astrid for Moka the Crobat, thank you ~))

The route had indeed been ravaged. Trees had been trampled, and berry bushes uprooted or completely barreled through. The destruction seemed to rival something that Tiberius could have cooked up. However, after a quick survey of the ground (as best as one could, considering it was dark) left no large, gaping footprints. No large, lumbering beast had trampled through here. Fences were splintered, but where was the evidence? Surely the culprit couldn't be far? This route used to be teeming with life, or at least, that's what the initial route used to be. Now, especially at night, it was quiet. Perhaps they were hiding from whatever was ravaging the route? As Moka took to the skies and flew ahead, it became quiet once more. It stayed like this for a few moments before a small sound from the ground was emitted. "P... Pid..." A battered Pidgey lay on the ground, easy prey for one of the creatures of the night. However, it had no strength to fly and was covered in bruises. Whatever Pokemon had ravaged through had also attacked the Pokemon flying by, or happily eating on the route. Before Tanya could take any action, a loud voice boomed, breaking the monotonous silence once more. "YOU!"The voice was startling, and was followed by heavy footsteps as a man with a pitchfork and cowboy hat ran towards Tanya.
"Dag nabbit, i've finally found you! And it's about time too! You're about to answer for all those trees, bushes, and birds you've been hurting! What kinda monster are ya, anyway? Sending out yer bat to make sure nobody was around before you start yer rampage... You make me sick. Furret! Let's teach this gal here a lesson."
The man wasn't too imposing normally, but with all the rage he was feeling, his mustache seemed to bristle and his pitchfork glinted in the light. True to his word, a Furret was with him. Surprisingly enough, Furrets were very large Pokemon and was about the size of the man himself. "I hope you're happy." The man spat, growling over to Tanya.
A very angry Rancher Bernie is commanding a battle!
to stop your rampage
He sends out Furret (Level 23)!

While Moka continued her aerial surveillance, Tanya's gaze was drawn towards one of the battered Pokémon, feeling her heart wrench for the poor Pidgey that had made such a weak sound. (I should get you out of the way, little one. Don't want whatever hurt you coming back to finish the job.) Any chance of good deeds went awry, however, as the redhead took a step towards the small bird... only for a voice that cracked like a cannon shot to freeze her in place. Her face stricken with fear, Tanya turned towards the source of the sound, a heavyset man brandishing a pitchfork and an accusation that had her bristling. "Excuse me? Is it normal for you to come out in the middle of the night and scream at innocent people?" she replied, unable to keep an edge of anger out of her voice.
Spreading her arms out, Tanya stared back at the man and gestured at the destruction surrounding her. "Do I look like someone capable of doing this? Or someone who would WANT to? I have bigger things on my plate than getting a sick thrill out of hurting Pokémon and vandalizing your property!" And though she was determined to prove herself innocent, the man's own rage seemed to have blinded him to reason, and it was becoming clear that talking her way out of it wasn't in the cards. Tanya grimaced as he sent out his Furret, not quite having expected to be forced into battle over something she'd had no part of. "How are you so sure I'm behind all this, huh?"
Curling her juice-stained hands into fists, Tanya wanted nothing more than to tell the stranger that she would gladly go searching for the real culprit. Opening her mouth to try anyways, a shriek from above had her quickly looking up, startled. Moka had come swooping in from her soundless scouting, and upon finding her trainer faced with a large Furret and its angry owner, decided to take charge of the situation. 'Don't you dare hurt T!' cried the Crobat as she dropped down low and sped towards the opposing Furret, angling herself to strike out at the lean Pokémon with a speedy Wing Attack.

In the man's sputtering rage, he'd failed to account for the 'sentry bat' he'd mentioned earlier. As Furret prepared to enact swift justice on whatever Pokemon Tanya was about to send out, the cry of Moka defending Tanya caused it's ears to perk and look up to the skies. As soon as Moka got close enough, Furret rocketed upwards with it's hind leg strength and slammed into the bat. However, the Furret didn't grapple away unscathed, as the shining wing attack hit it's mark. Furret hit the ground with an unceremonious plop, whereas Moka returned to defend her trainer, flapping her wings to stay aloft. The man glowered and his grip tightened on his pitchfork. The desperation in his eyes was evident, although the rage was probably clouding it.
"Every night... fer the past week... I've been tryin to find whoever did this. They always come back, missy. So, here I am, patrolling with Furret when I see all this destruction, and only you around for miles. Nobody in their right mind woulda come out here, knowing crazy 'ol Bernie's on the hunt!" The man narrowed his eyes and watched Tanya thoughtfully. "Ye don't seem the type that'd go and hurt all those Pokemon, but how am I to tell? Yer the one out here after all this, and yer bat isn't leaving any footprints. The Pokemon doing this ain't leaving any footprints. Nothing out here but trees, berries and bushes. What am I to expect? Something's comin' out here and wreckin' this land, and all the little Pokemon with it. 'Specially them birds." Bernie seemed to come down off of his rage as their Pokemon fought, although it was more of a formality at this point. He was still angry, but it was easy to tell that he was thinking it through before enacting anymore swift justice with his pitchfork and Furret. Bernie's Furret - Level |23| Health: 57/79 Current Status: You.. you fiend! Successful Quick Attack! Tanya's Moka - Level |23| Health: 64/79 Current Status: Don't you touch her! Successful Wing Attack!

Face set in a mask of indignant anger, Tanya watched with still clenched fists as Moka made to strike at Furret, only to be surprised by a speedy attack from the lithe rodent instead. But Moka was just as upset as her trainer, although for a different reason, and continued her attack with a more successful result. Soaring back with worry on her sweet face, Moka fluttered around her trainer, an unspoken question in her eyes. "I'm alright, sweetie. But we need to be on our toes here; this guy probably isn't thinking totally straight," Tanya said in a low voice, nodding in the stranger's direction. If the Crobat had any concerns, she held them back as she turned round and glided forwards, making sure she was between the angry man and Tanya.
It was truly rare for Tanya to let her firecracker temper go, but the accusations lobbied at her by some stranger were pushing her close to the boiling point. "I can hardly be the only person who's wandered out here. My Crobat can't do all that, either," Tanya said in a strained voice, pointing at the ruined trees and fences. "I gain nothing, nothing, by recklessly destroying everything in sight. I might be a Blackthorn kid, but I would never lash out out nature and innocent Pokémon." Even as she spoke, Tanya couldn't quite fathom who, or what, was behind the savagery surrounding them. Tiberius in a true tantrum could easily uproot trees with his Bulldoze, but there were still some left standing.
Whatever was rampaging around was far too clever if it was thus far eluding Bernie. The fact it hadn't been caught was a clue, one that she latched on to with some desperation. An angry Pokémon would make itself easily known in the act, likely stirring up a hell of a ruckus. "I guess it's moot to try and reason it out while you're so keen that I'm behind it all. If I win this battle, I want you to listen to me. And I intend to win," Tanya said after a moment, tucking her long hair behind her ears. "Moka, Wing Attack." Having listened to the exchange with nary a change in expression, her Crobat uttered another short screech and swept forwards. 'I might be a Crobat, but that doesn't mean I'm a bad Pokémon...'

vs. Rancher Bernie _________________
Tanya's words had given Bernie some food for thought, as the redhead continued to be adamant over the fact that all this destruction which surrounded the both of them, was not caused by her. For the past week he had been patrolling the area, looking out for just who was destroying his crops and even further harming the wild life. Sleepless nights had led to him jumping at any chance or lead of finding the culprit, so just maybe he had made the wrong decision by accusing Tanya. Standing up to him and defending herself so boldly had begun to calm the farmer down some, the tightness of his grip on the pitchfork loosening. He loved his work on the farm and also the local wildlife, he never intended to hurt or come across as threatening to any living thing but all this terrorising had made him uptight. Still not entirely convinced that she was innocent, he hoped to get some answers out of her one way or another. She may have very well been innocent but for him, he first needed proof.
"Yer still mighty suspicious to me, lass. Erry'one is, until I get to the bottom'o this." Trailing off, his lifted his spare hand and ran it thoughtfully through his beard. Atleast he had seemed to calm down a little in terms of his posture and tone of voice. This way, it would be easy for both of them to get some answers. "Fer a start, why are yer wanderin' around in the dead o' the night? Seems strange to me." Thinning his stare, he could tell that she was a Pokemon trainer and it was a common occurance for them to wander through this path. It didn't bother him that she was so close to his property but more so the damage that she stood in the middle of. "Aye'll listen to what you say, I ain't gonna let yer get away. I want answers too an' if yer have anythin' to do with this, yer gonna pay." Nodding his head as if coming to an agreement with himself, he felt as if the battle still needed to go on. As if he was trying to show some form of dominance or strike fear into his opponent by showing off a bit of strength.
"Alright Furret. Use another Quick Attack!" Somewhat sore by the clash of Moka's wing previously, the Furret still bore a look of determination. Pouncing forward, the fluffy creature moved in a swerving motion before moving faster than even the Crobat's eyes could follow. Reappearing with a leap right before the purple bat, the Furret crashed it's body forward, forcing Moka to circle backwards uncontrollably in mid air. Shaking her body and getting her balance back, the Crobat turned with a glare to her eyes. Protecting her trainer being the main objective for the moment, her bat like wings began to glow before she swooped forward, striking the Furret's long, unmissable body with another sharp stab of her wing.

Meanwhile, the egg that Tanya was looking after began to rattle. Picking just the right time to hatch, the creature didn't care if they were in the middle of a battle, it was ready to break free! Cracking bit by bit, the yellow shell began to break revealing a feathered Pokemon known as Ducklett!

It was obvious she was making some headway in proving her innocence, judging by Bernie's expression, though it was clear he wasn't going to believe her outright. The fact he was giving some credence to the possibility was enough to ease her temper down, hands falling to rest at her sides. Tanya followed the battle in silence, eyes reflecting the worry she felt for Moka. Her Crobat was such a sweetie, and seeing her fly indignantly into battle to defend her trainer was troubling. But she wasn't going to call Moka back, especially seeing how well the bat was handling herself. Gliding back over, Moka smiled tiredly at her trainer, each wingbeat almost completely quiet.
'Don't fret, T! I'm stronger than you think!' Moka said cheerfully, doing a happy somersault. Tanya couldn't help but smile at the display, and then glanced over at Bernie. (See? How could such a sweet, caring Crobat be the cause of all this devastation?) But when he asked aloud why she was out at night, even Tanya was slightly taken aback. She really hadn't thought traveling after sunset was a big deal. "Goldenrod was getting too stuffy for my likes, so I set out as soon as I could. What if I was looking for Pokémon that prefer coming out after dark?" Tanya fired back, eyebrows raised in a questioning look. Trainers did all kinds of odd things, and few questioned it. The timing of the route's destruction coinciding with her departure was just a freaky occurrence.
Before she could do anything else, a loud crack sounded out, her bag shaking in a rather odd way. Tanya bit back a yelp of surprise, hands flying as she undid the top and revealed the egg she'd been carrying, its glossy surface covered in thin cracks. As she watched, the shell finally gave way, a tiny blue bird blinking in confusion left in its place. Chirping as it gazed up at her, Tanya grinned back, gently scooping up the little Ducklett and plucking bits of shell from its feathers. "You sure picked a heck of a time, little one," the redhead murmured, uncaring if Bernie was watching; a newly hatched Pokémon took more precedence than their battle. Using her free hand to clear away some of the eggshell, Tanya put her new Ducklett back into the bag and whispered a promise to tend to it after the battle's conclusion.
Glancing over at Moka, Tanya nodded her assent and watched as her Crobat whirled round, once again readying a Wing Attack for the opposing Furret. Hopefully this would be over swiftly, so Tanya could introduce the baby bird to a ball and keep it safe - from the world, and whatever terror was plaguing the route.
Ducklett Name: Stitch Gender: Male Level: 5 Attacks: Water Gun, Water Sport, Steel Wing Ability: Big Pecks Nature: Naive Personality: Stitch is a very energetic and vocal Ducklett, often getting into mischief if not carefully watched. He adores other Pokémon and people, and hates being left alone, cuddling up even to Tanya's more ill-tempered partners. Though a fairly happy Pokémon, Stitch can be prone to moments of sadness, believing that he's quite the ugly duckling compared to others, and often needs gentle coaxing to believe he's a valued member of Tanya's 'family'. Other: ZapdosZulu Easter Event 2015

As Bernie listened to what Tanya said about searching for Pokemon that only come out at night he scratched his head not quite sure what to think as he had not taken that possibility into consideration. He was embarrassed to even mention the fact that it was a good reason to be out this late. Bernie was about to speak when he saw the egg Tanya had hatch before his eyes. The care she displayed in keeping the newborn safe caused Bernie to question his judgement but he was not ready to say she was innocent just yet. As he adjusted his hat Bernie looked right at Tanya's eyes as he began to speak. " Well I'll be ya got yaself a youngin thar. I reckon ya must be at least somewhat honest to have a baby like that but then again this could be a trick. I cannot recall this kinda feeling before maself Furret what do ya think? Should we trust this lass and take her word or do ya think she is lying to us? Still being bitter over getting struck by Moka's wings twice Furret was not even remotely convinced and wanted to keep fighting. As Bernie trusted Furret he agreed to keep going just to make sure Tanya was being honest. " Alright Furret use Quick Attack and let's see what happens."Furret then charged Moka with a blinding level of speed slaming into the bat but right after the collision Moka turned to face the rodent and rammed it with her wings knocking the normal type out. Bernie was now convinced of Tanya's innocence but he really needed her help. Bernie's Furret: | Level 23| Health: 0% (0/79 HP) StatusKO'ed KO'ed! Move: Quick Attack
Tanya's Moka: | Level 23 | Health: 46% (37/79 HP) Status: Normal Now stay down! Move: Wing Attack
Moka fought well and gained 3 levels. She is now level 26. She also gained +1 happiness and she has +12 happiness overall. She is trying to learn Swift. Would you like her to forget a move to learn Swift?
" I am sorry that I accused you but I reckon I need your help. I own this here berry plantation and something keeps stealing my berries leaving a mess behind. There is 3 paths with berries scattered on them but I cannot leave in case that no good varmint returns. Could you please help find that troublemaker for me an teach im a lesson? The path to the left has a heavy berry count, while the center path has only a few, finally the path to the right has an average amount. I will wait here in case you need me."
There are three paths ahead. Do you want to go left down the trail covered in berries, Down the middle path with the small amount of berries, or to the right with a moderate amount of berries?

All that was left to do was finish the battle, Tanya told herself. She'd made her argument and would stand by her claim of innocence, no matter what questions Bernie tossed at her to try and find chinks in her statements. Stubborn to the very last, as her mother would say. Her Ducklett poked its head out again, curiosity too strong to keep it sitting patiently, making delighted cheeps as Moka flew gracefully through the air. It fluttered its own little wings in imitation, mind seized by the mesmerizing idea of achieving flight one day. Chuckling at the look on the Ducklett's face, Tanya followed its gaze and nodded to herself. Made sense that even fresh out of the egg, a Flying type would be enticed by thoughts of taking to the skies.
Thankfully being lost in its dreams kept it unaware of the ongoing battle; something so young didn't need to see this kind of fighting yet. Moka endured the hit in her usual good-natured way, ending the quarrel with a decisive blow that sent Bernie's Furret crumpling to his feet. "This battle is mine. So you'll listen to me, and listen well," Tanya began as she walked forwards, motioning for Moka to reclaim her perch on the redhead's shoulder. Before she could continue, Bernie made his plea, forcing her to bite her tongue and let him speak. (Didn't think he'd cave that fast...) The trainer crossed her arms, not in a defensive way, and waited until the farmer had finished speaking before adding her own thoughts.
"I certainly wouldn't take berries from someone else, nor would any of my Pokémon. And we're not barbarians, throwing around Pokémon just because we can. I'll help you... I just don't appreciate having been treated like a villain," Tanya said, her tone sullen. It wasn't in her nature to turn down someone in need, even if he'd unjustly accused her in his desperation to discover the true identity of the destructive thief. Before she moved on, the girl introduced her Ducklett to a spare ball and looked relieved to have the baby bird out of harm's way. But now the real test began, and faced with three choices, she was unsure which way to proceed. "What do you think, Moka? How about... that one?" Tanya said, picking a path at random and pointing at it. Offering a screech of agreement, the pair headed down the middle path, Tanya treading carefully to avoid crushing any more berries.

Left Shark Path | Bernie would sit on the girls words, but would have to apologize later as she had already taken off towards the paths. He might have gone with her, if he wasn't feeling so badly for accusing her. He'd go look elsewhere to see if he could find the culprit.Tanya and Mocha hadn't seemed to positive about which way to go, and Tanya's choice of a random path in the end would turn out to be fruitless...well...not fruitless, but the culprit certainly wasn't down this way.Instead, a culprit...of sorts...or...was he dead? Smeared with red berry juice it was hard to tell. He was wearing a cop's uniform. Had someone killed him to keep the secret of the berry theft a secret? Was Tanya next?As she would get closer, Tanya would discover that he was in fact, still breathing. "Too...many...Tomato berries...why did I eat thos-those spicy things...." He muttered, not seeming to notice Tanya was there at first. If one looked closer he sort of reminded you of something...
...Ah yes, that was it. After a few moments he opened his eyes, looking up at the intrusion. "Culprit...went that way....it was too dark but it got scared...when I shined my torch. Berries...too good. Much Tomato..." And with that he went back into his food induced coma. -- Attention! The Gluttonous Policeman has pointed you in a different direction. Perhaps the other paths will yield more answers. |

"Traveling at night, what a swell idea Tanya!" she muttered to herself, sidestepping a puddle of red juice and glaring at it. This path had clearly been a bad choice, with very little indicating the true culprit's presence. With no warning, Moka lifted off of Tanya's shoulder, the air from her wings causing Tanya's hair to fly about her face. Sputtering, the redhead swiped stray locks back into place and scowled, searching the air for the troublesome bat. "Moka! Don't fly off like that!" Tanya called out, her scowl fading into a concerned frown. Maybe her Crobat had sensed something she hadn't, and simply decided to save time by going to look on her own.
With some mysterious, destructive entity wandering around, being separated from Moka made Tanya just a bit anxious. She didn't want to see her Pokémon get hurt unnecessarily. Those worries were squashed when Moka flitted back, jabbing one of her wings down the darkened path. "Don't fly off so suddenly like that, alright? Not with this menace on the loose," Tanya said as she followed Moka's directions, earning an apologetic screech from the bat. As she drew closer, she spared the sprawled policeman a look of distaste. Such a helpful man of the law, trying to help Bernie locate this elusive creature by eating everything in sight.
It was tempting to ignore his mutterings out of sheer spite for his indulgence, but finding the culprit was a higher priority. "Word to the wise: just because you're in uniform doesn't mean you can steal from someone, even if it is food," Tanya said, not bothering to keep the scorn out of her voice. Oblivious to his comatose state, the redhead whistled for Moka, waiting until the Crobat flew out from over some trees before talking. "We're going down the other path now. Screech if you find anything." Moka nodded gravely, circling above Tanya as she changed tack and headed down the center path.

North Path | "Confound it! Found its way ova' here too.." Bernie mumbled as he made his way over broken bits and branches. It had gotten to this orchard too. Bernie took a deep breath. At this rate, his business was done for. And he wasn't sure if that girl was still even here, and if she wasn't, he wouldn't have blamed her with the way he treated her. He did her a pretty low thing. Though the screeching of a bat brought his attention to the same girl wandering down the path, her bat friend leading the way. "Well Ah'll be..." he mumbled to himself, trying to believe she'd really be here still. She was still willing to help? "Ah'm afraid they ain't here neither." Bernie commented. "Have ya'...found anythin'?" He questioned, wondering if she had any better luck than himself. This thief seemed to be good at what they did. "There ain't anythin' down here...only place ah' haven't looked yet is the East Orchards." He mentioned, remembering he had yet to look there. "That may give us a clue..." He mumbled. -- Attention! Bernie says that there is nothing down here but destroyed and run down trees. Maybe you should try the remaining path for now? |

As she walked among the ruined trees, Tanya rubbed her arms with a shiver. It wasn't from the cold; more or less her vivid imagination. With Moka still flying ahead of her, she was left to her thoughts while surreptitiously looking around in case something wanted to jump her. It could be a sneaky Dark or Ghost type, though the destroyed trees made her think twice. Tyranitar fit the bill for a powerful Dark type... until one realized there was no sandstorm indicative of its presence. Another Nidoking or the female counterpart Nidoqueen could have easily caused all the damage as well, but they tended to be a noisy lot if Tiberius was anything to go by. So lost in her thoughts, Tanya nearly collided with Bernie and stumbled as she stopped herself, blinking.
"Oh? Damn," she muttered, twisting a lock of auburn hair anxiously in one hand. If Bernie hadn't had any luck so far, it didn't bode well for her own search. (Bah! Don't give up so easily. There's one last path to search.) The rancher questioned her, and Tanya hesitated, wondering if tattling on the comatose policeman was the right thing to do. "Well, I did find a man out on the west path. He was kind of out of it. I can check the orchards, if you want to go help him out. I'd feel better knowing he wasn't at risk of falling victim to this culprit," she said after a moment, leaving out the cop sneaking some berries for himself. Bernie would find that out himself if he decided to heed her advice.
Moka was fluttering above them, looking down with patient golden eyes. Tanya looked up at her and nodded once, stepping past Bernie before pausing and glancing back. "Don't worry about me. I've got my Pokémon if this thief decides to show their face," the redhead said in a confident voice, smiling before turning away and following after her Crobat. Contrary to her words, anxiety was an icy coil in her gut, hoping that the east orchards would finally yield some luck in the search. With a fervent wish that she wouldn't have the misfortune of encountering a dragon, Tanya headed down the final remaining path.

"Well, good luck, i'll keep m' eyes peeled." Bernie grunted, watching Tanya disappear down the final, right path. His Eastern Orchards were relatively large, and could probably house a thief easily. He hoped Tanya's Pokemon would keep her safe. He thought about offering her his pitchfork, but he figured she'd say no. Besides, Furret wasn't looking so hot, and he'd need to defend himself in case something came for him! Tanya's shadow was all but gone, and Bernie sighed to himself before turning to keep watch once more. "Be careful o' there." Upon walking on the path, it was very clear a scuffle had happened. Along the path a few splintered pieces of metal litter the ground. Following them to the source shows a man on the ground. Beside him, a beaten Sandslash. When Tanya walks close, the Hiker groans and rolls over onto his side to help himself up. "Hnng... Come back for round two, eh?" The hiker coughed, putting up his fists in a pathetic attempt to protect himself. "You done beat me to a pulp, and my Sandslash, but I ain't gonna let you do it again!" He growled, until Tanya's face came into the moonlight. He lowered his fists and blew out a sigh of relief. "Oh good... I thought you were that damn tree...." The man helps his Sandslash up, and looks at his broken axe with disdain. "I had heard rumors of a tree that came to life! That it was beating up Pokemon and squishing berries... I figured me 'n my trusty Axe would bring it down a peg, ya know? But... My axe.. it didn't do anything to it! Even Sandslash got beaten. You gotta be careful. It's still around here somewhere!" Clearly sure he'd found the culprit, the hiker did look a little nervous at the fact it was still around. As if on cue, the sprinkler system turned on. Quickly returning his Sandslash to avoid it getting wet, the Hiker began limping back towards the mouth of the path. "Just... be careful and bring it down a peg. I wish I could help, but it beat me up pretty good..." He coughed, leaving Tanya alone along the path... After a few moments, a distressed sound was heard. It sounded like an angry Pokemon! The strange tree mentioned before crashed through some of the underbrush, leafy hands scraping at it's body to try and rid it of water. When it turned, it honed in on Tanya and let out a growl, lifting it's arm before running towards her with the intent of smashing her into the ground! Don't be like that Hiker! Attack! Wild Sudowoodo (Level 24) is furious, and is attempting to Smash you! Send out a Pokemon to defend yourself!

Tanya couldn't quite pinpoint the cause, but something about this section of the plantation sent shivers of apprehension down her spine. Even Moka's presence wasn't enough to dispel that little voice in the back of her mind, the one that whispered that searching for the culprit was a bad idea and she was going to wind up hurt... or worse. Boot crunching down on metal, the redhead stopped and lifted her foot, kneeling over to pick up the shard and inspect it closely. "This can't be good," Tanya muttered, tucking the shard into her pocket lest anyone step on it later. Keeping to the path seemed a good idea nonetheless, the discovery of metal bits enough to entice her on.
But when she came across the hiker, concern flitted through her green eyes as she took him in, almost chased away by the hurt brought on by his accusation. "A tree did this to you?" Tanya asked in disbelief, thoroughly confused by what he was talking about. Maybe he'd taken a blow to the head, though she doubted a tree accounted for the state of the man's Sandslash, as battered as it looked. As the man explained, something stirred in her memory, recalling a passage in a Pokémon book that was a detailed summary of a tree-like Pokémon. Time had faded the memory somewhat, so his description still left little for her to grasp at. "I'll be alright. Just get yourself to the Center, okay?" she responded, managing a tight smile.
Water suddenly sprayed them both, Tanya spluttering as one of the sprinklers nearest to her nearly struck her eyes. She heard Moka's muffled screech, but was too busy trying to swipe the running water away from her vision to realize it was a warning. Moka swooped down as the Pokémon appeared, determined to protect her trainer, only to fall victim to its flailing branch-like arms and was sent sailing into a nearby bush. Tanya finally succeeded in clearing her eyes just in time to see the Pokémon bearing down on her, uttering a low oath before it knocked her to the ground. "Dios mio!" the girl spat, rubbing her arm. This thing hurt.
It was still moving towards her when a burst of light erupted from her bag, materializing into the shape of her Gallade. Aster raised his blade-tipped arms in readiness, prepared to defend Tanya where Moka had failed. Tanya scrambled to her feet, not willing to let this Pokémon think it was going to scare her off just because it had managed to sneak up on her once. "Sudowoodo! That's what you are!" she exclaimed upon taking a proper look at it. With the sprinklers going off, no wonder it had flown into such a rage, but the way it had attacked her... well, it was likely Bernie's mystery culprit. "Aster! Use Drain Punch!" Tanya ordered hastily, knowing the faster they took care of this, the better. Sudowoodo had caused more than enough harm, and it was time to stop its reign of terror on this route.
