"Are you sure Sandy? I know Hiroki has been with you well,..almost since the start, hasn't he?" Joshua questioned as he sifted through paperwork on the other side of their video phone conversation. Sandy bit her lip, giving him a nod in response. "For now...I think it's probably the best thing. He needs a long break, and the only way he's going to get that is if he stays with my Elm for a while. So just...make sure he knows he's there alright?" At her feet, Scatter rested, ear pricking up as he mumbled to Berry who was sitting on the floor just next to the chair.
<<I guess the strain was too much for her. Even after they fought the source too. Her and Andrew, I mean.>> He mentioned, raising his head off his paws. Berry gave him a shake of her head. <<I really think that's what it is. I don't think she's ever going to forget what losing him felt like. But Hiroki knew this was going to happen, and he knows Sandy hasn't given up on him, she's just afraid. So he doesn't mind going back.>> She explained to the cat who merely flicked his ear a second time. <<I see. So Darryl's going to be taking his place?>> Berry nodded. Darryl had proved herself since returning to Goldenrod.
<<Soon enough I doubt her power is going to be something to laugh at...even if we had our misgivings before.>> As they finished speaking, the conversation above them came to an end. "Thanks Joshua. Talk to you later." The phone clicked and the connection came to a close, and Sandy stood up. "Well...that's it you guys. Let's get going." Scatter stood up and lowered himself enough so Berry could climb onto his back, shifting a little as she did so. <<Gah...Lay off the Pokeblock Berry.>> he cried with a smirk. <<I'll smack you silly, cat, get moving.>> Scatter said nothing else, instead bounding after Sandy.
The route ahead of them was large, and they could tell it would take them quite a while to reach their destination. "I hope you guys are ready enough...one of you at least enough for me too." Scatter and Berry both nodded as they continued on the road before them.
With her team ready to go, Sandy and co. continued down the path of Route 37. While they were walking down the path, the route seemed quiet for a good stretch of thirty minutes before they stumbled upon another life-form that wasn't trees or plants. Though as they kept on walking, the fog in the forest seemed to be getting thicker. In front of Sandy, a tall woman was holding a flashlight and appeared lost. She moved her flashlight left and right until she noticed Sandy.
"Ma'am! Could you help a girl out? I'm trying to reach Ecruteak on time for my 6pm show that I wanted to watch! Do you know which way is it to the city? This fog isn't helping!" she approached Sandy, with a panicked-but-trying-to-look-calm expression on her face. "I'm also trying to get to Ecruteak early so I can take some pictures and upload them on Chatter. Do you know any good hotel in Ecruteak? I completely forget about booking a hotel before I leave Cianwood and now I feel dumb."
She took a deep breath, realizing that she forget to introduce herself. "Oh, where is my manners? I am Callie but you can call me Cal." A few seconds later, a Clefable appeared from the fog, who Cal introduced. "And this is my friend Clef!" she spoke and made a kissy face.
"There's still time, but I haven't seen anyone and a battle seems great right now to relieve this travel stress! Maybe you could help me get some great photos to upload on Chatter too!" She grinned and smiled. The Clefable merely smiled and waved at Sandy and her Pokemon.
Beauty Callie sent out her (Level 26) Clefable AKA Clef-xoxo!
OOC: jsut FYI that "Chatter" is supposed to be twitter.
Sandy Didn't have much of an idea about which part of the route they were on. It wasn't really too clear of a day, now that she thought about it. Her Grandma used to tell her a lot of folk tales about this town and the areas surrounding it, in fact just thinking about it made her skin crawl. So for the duration of her time here, she had decided that not thinking about it was probably best. It'd only give her nightmares.
"Alright you two, let's try not to get lost." She said, glancing over to Scatter and Berry. <<Sure Sandy, we got it. Scat, can't you see better than us right now?>> Berry asked, to which Scatter shook his head. <<That's the dark, not fog.>> "Scatter, Berry!" At her call, both Pokemon perked up, and Scatter bounded after her.
Sandy had been on her way when a pretty young woman, maybe a bit older than her, stopped her. "Oh? I um...well..." She looked around. Maybe she had gotten a bit lost herself. "Well I don't know exactly..." Her timid nature came out a bit quickly as she realized that she couldn't help her. "I could try and help you find the way, if you want.." She introduced herself as Callie, and when the Clefable stepped from the fog, Scatter began a catlike growl, but was cut off by Sandy.
"It's um...N-Nice to meet you. I'm Sandy, and this is Scatter and Berry." It wasn't long before she asked her to battle either. "I...Sure." Scatter and Berry were ready, should she choose one of them, but it seemed the girl had another idea, pulling out a Pokeball. "Hotaru, go!" The Mightyena materialized from the ball in a flash, jumping around excitedly.
<<Hotaru? When did you get here?>> Berry asked in astonishment. Hotaru looked back, still wagging her tail. <<Sandy called Professor Elm this mornin! Muru is taking a break so here I am, I am!>> She barked. "Hotaru, please start with Howl." The wolf yipped and drew her head back, ready to howl.
Callie beamed when Sandy accepted her challenge, passing over her timidity completely and gesturing her Clefable to step forwards. "Oh wait! Stay RIGHT there!" the woman called, digging in her designer purse and pulling out a hot pink phone and waving it around. She fiddled with it for a moment before a camera sound cut through the silence, and Callie let out a bubbly laugh. "Perfect! Sorry! I just had to get a selfie done," she babbled to Sandy, flipping her thick, luxurious hair over her shoulder. Hotaru tilted her head to one side in confusion; what was a selfie and why had this woman stopped the battle to take one?
Shrugging it off, the Mightyena threw her head back and let out an unearthly howl, the sound so eerie with the fog-drenched landscape that it raised goosebumps on Callie's arms. She shivered dramatically and rubbed her arms, but if she was unnerved at all, the beauty didn't show it. "Oooh! Do you think she'd do that again so I can record it? I'd totally score tons of faves on Chatter if I posted that!" Callie giggled. Clef waved her arm impatiently, reminding her trainer that they were in the middle of a battle. "Oh! Uh, Clef sweetie, just use Metronome! You're so good at that!"
Clef smiled in apology as she raised a single finger in the air and wiggled it around, a blue glow surrounding her as the Metronome's mysterious power went to work. Holding her front arms out in front of her, the Clefable went completely still, the only sound a faint electrical crackle. Hotaru whined as her sensitive ears picked up the sound, a sense of dread gripping her, that feeling growing more intense as a glowing green-blue sphere of electricity appeared in front of Clef's hands. It swelled in size until the sparks that shot off of it scorched the ground, Clef opening her eyes and smiling sweetly before letting the attack go.
The orb shot forwards like a cannon ball, a massing of deadly electric power, but it seemed Clef's aim left something to be desired as it sailed past Hotaru by mere inches and collided with a tree, causing it to explode into splinters that rained down on them. Callie flicked some of the wood chips from her hair with a stunned expression, staring at her partner. "...Whoa."

When she asked Sandy to hold up a minute, the timid girl froze, Unsure of what exactly it was that Callie wanted to do. She watched with slight interest as she pulled out a heavily gaudy pink phone, holding it out. Sandy recognized she was taking a...what was it, a selfie? She really wasn't familiar with such things.
She was even more confused when she asked Hotaru to howl again. The dog was panting happily, wagging her tail Sandy knew she had no idea what the girl was asking. "Ch-Chatter? Um...I don't think she will right now." She responded shyly, shuffling a foot. The dog let out a strong bark and watched as Clef began waggling around.
The attack passed right by Hotaru, and Scatter quickly pushed Sandy out of the way, hissing at the girl who had ordered the attack to begin with as Sandy got back up. "Ow..." she mumbled, though she then looked back to Hotaru. "Bite!" The dog figured she was trying to take advantage of the confusion and lunged towards Clef.
Brushing the splinters from Clef-xoxo, Callie took a picture of the Pokemon's clean, pink fur before stepping back into position. "I gotta say, that was quite the move, Clef!" Sandy's Pokemon didn't seem all that happy with the move and it's destructive intent, but it couldn't be helped. Callie was on a one track thought, and it was probably obvious what was about to come next. Phone poised and ready to record the next attack, Callie readied herself. "Do you think you could do that again? Do something really cool this time, that way we can post it! I'll finally get that trainer hottie to notice me if you pull out a cool move."
Clef-xoxo readied herself for the attack, but Hotaru had orders, and the loyal hound was about to do them. Besides, if Hotaru was closer to the Clefable, it was a better shot for the Pokemon, and avoided random Metronome attacks in Sandy's direction. Jaws poised with fangs glinting, Hotaru bit into the stomach of the fluffy Pokemon, disheveling the perfect fur grain and probably stepping on a few of Callie's perfect fur OCD nerves. However, Clef-xoxo didn't seem to mind. Her fingers wiggled, and from the strange power Metronome held, fire began to blaze at her foot. Allowing the strange, randomized attack to let the Clefable move with knowledge not readily accessible.
The fiery foot kicked into the biting Mightyena, sending Hotaru sprawling backwards with the force of the impact. Blaze Kick was a direct hit, and seemed to have struck quite a nerve with the hound. Some of the luxurious, black fur Hotaru had was fried. "Oh my gosh! Clef, look what you did to it's poor fur! Now people are going to judge the poor Pokemon. Don't worry girl, I know a great groomer who can get your pup back into visual acceptance!" Callie didn't look up from her phone as she spoke, probably downloading the video to her Chatter profile. Immediately her phone began making dings, as if people were responding to the video of the Clefable kicking Mightyena. "Oh hey, do you want me to credit you in this video? Sure your butt is getting kicked, but I don't want to leave out any artist credit..."

Sandy watched Hotaru closely. She was aware that sometimes, the dog felt the need to do things a little...out of order. But she seemed content, wagging her tail. She was enjoying the battle...well...aside from her almost being zapped by an attack herself. Everything was okay though because that hadn't been what had happened. The dog seemed like she was poised to attack at a moments notice however, and when that moment came she sprung forward and sunk her fangs into the Pokemon's fleshy belly. Sandy had to wonder how much that had actually hurt. What she didn't know, is it was about to hurt as much as what was coming.
Metrenome was a move that made her almost as nervous as this girls obsession with posting everything to the internet, but that still outweighed her fear of the move, somehow. She swallowed as she watched Hotaru get a firey foot to the side, her fur singed by the impact. Hotaru let out a loud yip, jumping at the sensation. Sandy catiously called her over and began softly as possible petting the singed spot. "It's alright Hotaru, it's not that bad.." She murmured, looking up at Callie. "Um..no that's okay. I've got a groomer..." She explained catiously.
As Callie continued to gush about what she was posting on the internet, Sandy felt a bit of an upset building in her stomach. "I...um...Callie, right?" She began, allowing Hotaru to bound back out onto the field. "I...don't mean to be rude but could maybe..." She cleared her throat. "Umm...turn the phone...off? Or...at least put it down? It's just...it makes me really nervous..." She mumbled. The thought of having a battle placed all over the internet was...worrysome.
"Hotaru, use Tackle!" Hotaru launched forwards upon the command dutifully, aiming for the clefable once again. She really hoped that the girl would shut off the phone. Scatter and Berry, both at her side, turned to one another. <<What is the deal with those stupid electronics anyway?>> Scatter asked, looking from Berry, to Callie and back again. Berry gave him a shrug in response. <<Hell if I know, the youth is into them, but I don't see too many old people with them.>> She answered, shrugging her shoulders again. Both knew Sandy had never really been keen on phones or the net, and usually the only reason she used it was to make calls, occasionally text. People were weird.
"Oh, you've got a Groomer? That's fine. I'm just offering because I have this grooming discount coupon that I haven't use and I thought maybe I could share," Callie replied while her head was still on the phone, as her thumb was touching the phone and the other fingers holding the phone. "Aww, Sandy, if you don't want to be on my pictures and videos, I can do that. I can leave you out of my InstaSnap and Vinesaur But the ones I already took pictures and videos of, I can keep them right? Would it better if I just leave you out of my video? I have this app that I can edit really quick, it's 200 Pokedollar to buy and download. It's a new app so if you have any friends who use this app, please let them know!" She blabbered about the function of technology, while minimally trying to make Sandy comfortable about not putting her face on the internet. "I understand you if you don't want to be on the net. My friend Mimi don't like to be on the net, but she helps my gal and I take pictures," she continued.
Then, looking up from her phone, she grinned and checked with her other hand to make sure her earring wasn't forming a knot with her long hair. "Good Job! Clef-" she made a kissing sound, which also made her mouth formed into a duckface, "- Now go for a Metronome again!" She ordered her move after Sandy, and as her Clefable began chanting and wiggling the devious fingers, the dark type was already on her way for the Tackle.
Hotaru charged forward and slammed onto the pink giant before the chanting even finished. Just as she finished, Clef-xoxo resumed her chanting, and then conjured a ball of mud from a nearby point in the air, with the fingers holding the ball like Hermoine with Leviosa. Before Hotaru could get away, the Clefable fired the mudball toward furry Pokemon directly, painting her a mixture of gold and white.

Phones were something that Sandy didn't quite understand. She knew how to use them, she had one of her own. But she didn't really use them for anything other than phone calls. But people went nuts over all these apps and such, and hearing that Callie spent 200 of her hard earned cash on an app sounded...foreign to her. There were much more important things Sandy herself could get with the money she earned. But then again, it wasn't really her cup of tea so she didn't bother with apps and phones, all those kinds of things.
"I mean if you could edit them I guess..." Scatter's ears perked up at the sound of Sandy once again bending to someone's will. If she didn't want the photos posted, then she didn't want them posted, and there wasn't a need to compromise. It could have been different if Sandy had been the one to throw herself out there, initiate this battle, but Callie had done so instead, forcing Sandy to agree. This time, Scatter growled in irritation, bumping her legs with his head.
"Haa-ahh...I mean...m-maybe it isn't such a good idea after all..." She said carefully, trying not to upset the girl across from her. "I just...don't like the idea of having them with someone so if...you could delete them..." Her face flushed a slight pink. Maybe one day, one day she'd try all those fancy profiles and websites, but not today. For today, she was going to remain in her shell.
"Hotaru, Bite, please!" Wagging her tail, Hotaru barked sharply in response. If it got so bad, Sandy would use a potion, and only hope that Hotaru didn't get hit with something worse this time around.
Even though Callie was a social media freak she had enough basic decency to delete the scenes of Sandy and her Pokemon from her video with the press of a button. With only the footage of her own Pokemon left the video was not as nice as she had hoped but she could always edit the footage to add a Pokemon to the battle later. With that problem out of the way she began to snap photos of her Clefable so she could post them to Pokebook. As she posted countless images to her profile she nearly cracked her touchscreen when she dropped her phone as she tripped on her own Pokemon's foot not paying attention. As she picked up her phone she began to freak out.
" NOOOOOOOOOOOO please don't break. I have my whole life saved on this phone." As she checked the screen it had not been damaged but her Clefable was upset that it's trainer seemed to care more for a phone than itself and the pink Pokemon began to tap it's foot impatiently in hopes that Callie would take notice of what had happen however the young lady was too busy hugging her phone to notice until Clefable began to wave it's fingers while facing her. " Oh whoops was that your foot? Sorry doll I will try and be more careful next time but for now try another Metronome." Although the apology was not the best it was not going to get much better so Clefable accepted it as it turned back to face Hotaru.
As it did Clefable suddenly started to flop on it's side like a fish and Callie started to film it as she thought it was adorable. " Oh that is too cute my friends will love this video." As Clefable stopped bouncing however Hotaru made her move. She bit the leg of the fairy type as hard as she could. The attack hurt but Clefable quickly recovered from the attack. With another round over it was only a matter of time before the next round.

Sandy visibly relaxed when Callie had informed her anything involving herself had been deleted. The thought of all these sites for social media just made her stomach...well, it purely hurt. She didn't like the idea of it. She liked her phone, because she could keep in touch with the people she knew and cared for. But that was by talking, sometimes texting. Sandy had always been a little...old fashioned in that way. She didn't have something Like Pokebook, Vinesaur, Chatter, all of that was too advanced for her. She was the kind of person who still enjoyed phone calls, the occasional text, texting usually for when there was no time to speak.
She wasn't sure what to do when faced with that kind of thing. It made the timid even more timid, in her case. But she seemed to ease tensed muscles as the girl finally took pictures specifically of her Clefable. That wasn't bad at all. She took a deep breath, turning back to Hotaru. "Are you okay, girl?" Hotaru let out a bark, indicating that she was perfectly fine. "Good, can we get another tackle in?" Sandy asked, more cheerful now.
The dog nodded at the command and charged when the other Pokemon had finished splashing. A Fisherman who had stopped her on the pier near Violet City one day, had told she and her partners of the strange power that spash could poentially possess, and how it once downed a large Gyarados. Though no one could really prove or disprove it, Sandy was never one to trifle with things like that, and it wasn't about to change now.
Showing bit of a disinterest in the battle with the obsession to her device, she began to furiously tap at the screen before letting out a disdainful wretch with her voice. "Like. URGH. What is WITH this stupid thing. I mean, it's gotta be this fog, right? Like, fog drains battery power or something. Totally." Looking over to Sandy, she let out bit of a depressive sigh. "Guess I won't be able to uploading these pics any time soon. Bummer." Taking bit more of a feigned interest in the fight, thanks to her superficial glance on the current status of the battle, she appeared to be under the impression she was winning. "Uhhh. That is so you Clef. You cutesy lil' thing you. How about we give that Metronome another go. Maybe you'll boost the electricity again so I can get my stupid device working. Such a drag." Bobbling from side to side, the Clefable began to raise a finger as she wriggled it back and forth with perfect practice. At this point, it was beginning to become a real possibility that was all this careless trainer had bothered commanding her Pokemon too. With the wriggle complete, the unexpected happen. Just barely visible through the fog, the Clefable seemed to whisk herself up in the air, her diminutive wings fluttering. "Oooooooh. I bet that is Fly. That's super cool. Totally reminds me of the time Clef learnt Spatial Rend and tore a hole in reeeeaaaality." The beauty couldn't have been more wrong however. No sooner than had Clefairy reached a great height, her wings seemed to expand... No, morph into something terrifying. Corrupting into a hideous, dread exuding design, it seemed almost as if a number of bloody eyes had emerged out of the wings. Even Callie was a little perturbed by such a sight. "Like... Oh... My... Gosh...!"
Fumbling to get at her phone, no doubt to take a snap and share this with all her friends on Chatter. "Oh my gosh. #CREEPY!" Her phone suddenly back on and taking in the sight of her Clefable performing this seemingly unknown move, it was mere seconds later that an awe inspiring destructive beam was shot forth from the creepy wings. Having only just temporarily grown these wings and not really aware of what it was doing, the beam appeared completely off course. That and the fog made it quite hard to spot the target from up above. Causing a small explosion as it bore into the crater, Callie watched as her Clefable landed back down with a thump. Clearly through with this Clefable's metronome antics, Hotaru had wasted no time in bounding forward despite the slow down in speed from all the impeding mud. Launching herself with a full body tackle, the Clefable landed not only down with a crash but was sent backwards, tumbling into a nearby tree. Despite her Pokemon getting such a heavy beating, it appeared Callie was completely unaware as it appeared she had got a signal. "OOOOOOOOH YES! YES YES YES! GOT A SIGNAL... Oh. It's gone. Bummer." Sighing as she clicked her phone off into sleep, she looked over to Sandy and rather annoyingly bought up that bizarre move. "Oh. My. Gosh. That was so bizarr~o! Tell me it wasn't just me that saw that? I bet that will storm the Pokenet. Gonna be faaaa~mous!"
Hotaru's tail was wagging despite all of the things that had happened so far. The strange array of moves that had all come from one simple move. It would be the day Sandy learned that Metrenome could either be at one extreme or another. Extremely useless or extremely powerful. There was no go-between. But what she was about to see was probably the most amazing yet most scary thing that she had seen yet.
Wings were forming on the Clefable's back. But these were dark, veiny and pulsating. "I...um..C-Callie is that normal?" She asked, though the question fell on deaf ears as the woman was too busy with her device. Sandy swallowed her breath as she watched the spectacle. What in the world was this.
"H-Hotaru, move!" She called as the Clefable began desending, but the move seemed destined to miss anyway as the Clefable came crashing into the ground, forming a large crater in its wake. Sandy took a deep breath. As soon as Hotaru finished her retaliation, she bounded over to Sandy, her usual cheery self. Sandy quickly took her into a hug. "O-Oh gosh...please try and run away a little faster next time..." Hotaru barked while Berry and Scatter still seemed to be in shock. What kind of move was that?
"I don't know if its the fog..Callie, but you should pay more attention to what's going on..." It was more of a warning if anything. The Clefable's unorderly dive could have hurt one of them. "Alright Hotaru, once again, tackle!" She called. The Dog barked and rushed for it once again.
Brushing off Sandy's concern, it seemed Callie was unlikely to grow any real interest in the battle, tittering as she lifted her phone again and revolved on the spot with the device raised over her head. "Oh, I don't really need to worry about battles, y'know? Clef pretty much handles herself, doncha sweetie?" the beauty trilled, ignorant of her Clefable's childish pout. Ever since her trainer had gotten that blasted phone she had become engrossed with it, as if her very life depended on it. Like it was the air she breathed, and how every thought that passed through her vapid mind needed to be shared with all of her Chatter followers. The temptation to summon a strong move like Hyper Beam to smash the phone into itty bitty pieces was a daily thought by now, Clef sighing as the urge ran through her again.
"Ugh. It really IS this dumb fog. Hashtag: are you kidding me?" Callie sighed, using her free hand to comb through her thick mane of hair while clicking her tongue. It wasn't until Clef waved her arms wildly that the woman finally deigned to pay attention to her, smiling widely and imitating the gesture. "Yessss? Oh Clef, just use Metronome again! Worked out so far right? I've gotten some AMAZING footage! ...when my phone worked of course," Callie grumbled, shaking her phone as if this would miraculously make everything better. With a short huff, Clef faced Hotaru once again, waggling that terrible finger and summoning forth a move from the ether.
Another orb appeared in front of the swaying Clefable, her eyes closed in concentration as she fed power into it. Growing in size, the orb seemed to shimmer and shift, moving about as if it were made of water. Hotaru's ears flattened, her sense of dread rising with each passing second as the now spherical blob of water blocked their view of Clef, who had thrust out her arms to accompany her mental push. With a roaring sound, a powerful torrent of water shot out and struck Hotaru dead on, the Mightyena letting out a whine of pain as it lifted her clear off the ground and sent her flying.
Skidding along the ground, when Hotaru finally came to a stop, it was clear she had unfortunately fainted from the dizzying attack Clef had called forth. "Oops! Looks like your cute wolfie is down! Clef, you're so awesome! I can't wait to tell everyone on Chatter what you did!" Callie burbled excitedly, forgetting for a moment about Sandy and her likely reaction to Hotaru's defeat at the hands of a ditzy trainer and her exasperated Clefable. Clef at least looked slightly abashed at her victory, torn between guilt and pride.

Sandy's eyes widened when the dog hit the ground, a pang of guilt washing into her heart with the memory of the last time her Pokemon had fainted. "Hotaru!" She called, running over to her. The dog gasped a couple of times before looking up at Sandy as she knelt down next to her. "Oh Hotaru, I'm so sorry. I should have been paying more attention to how you were feeling." Hotaru in response began wagging her tail back and forth, reaching up to lick Sandy's cheek, letting her know it was okay. She let her tail beat the floor for another moment before Sandy helped her to her feet. "You're okay, aren't you?" She asked, to which Hotaru responded heartily. <<Fine! It's alright!>> She barked. Sandy carefully returned her so she could get some rest.
Then, taking a deep breath to steady herself, she looked back to Scatter and Berry. "Berry, come on, I'm trusting you with the rest ok?" She asked, smiling gently at the turtle Pokemon. <<You got it, Sand.>> She responded, jumping off of Scatter and coming out center field. Sandy wouldn't let her next Pokemon down. She'd keep a close eye on her. But she wasn't going to need to tell Berry that. Berry lightly gazed at her scar. That day hadn't torn them apart, only made them stronger as starter and trainer. And it was because of that that she was going to try and handle whatever bizzare move this Clefable decided to pull out of its ass next. <<Just tell me what to do!>> She called.
"Alright Berry, use Water Pulse!" she called out. Berry gave a nod and took a leap as high as she could go, releasing a water pulse that she hoped would wash over the Clefable, and a good chunk of its HP.
