His hunt for the Rocket October submarine successful, along with his goal of sinking the wretched vessel, Joey had come to shore and was now looking at tying up a loose end. Having caught a Wailmer to assist with diving as deep as they did, he had spent a small period of time with it and had come to the conclusion that the sort of lifestyle he led was not one which worked with the poor infant whale. That and it wasn't as if he could easily leave him back at his warehouse on the account it needed water to be able to live comfortably in. He needed to find a new home. A caring one at that. He wasn't going to just dump the Pokemon back into the wild, it deserved better. Like he had done with a whole slew of stolen, mistreated and abused Pokemon when he gave to that blue haired novice, he would find a place for this Wailmer to be happy. It was the least he could do in repaying it for what it had done in service for him.
Only problem was, who would want a marine Pokemon like this when Cianwood was so closely situated to the ocean? Surely everyone and their mother had a Pokemon of this kind. Not one to quit so easy, Joey rather stubbornly began approaching a number of the city's inhabitants. Rejection after rejection, it seemed many of the people had Pokemon which served a similar role to the Wailmer or rather they had one of their own. It wasn't looking so good for Willy. That was the name Joey had dubbed the Pokemon. "Ahhhh shoot... At this rate i'm gonna have to go inland and find someone who can look after it. Not like that'll be any good. I don't know many Johtonians who have a large body of water they can keep Willy amused in. Pft." Strolling along the outskirts of the city, right along the beach, he looked up as he saw a rather animated painter crafting a masterpiece on their canvas. Taking in her appearance, he laughed to himself. "Maybe I can sweet talk this doll into takin' it off me." Getting closer, he almost lost some of his cool as he noticed the picture she was drawing was that of a Wailmer. "This has gotta be my chance!"
Straightening up his bandanna and making sure he was presentable in his own rough, shabby manner, he called out. "Wow, gorgeous." Grinning from ear to ear, he shot her a cheeky wink as they met eyes, leaving it ambiguous as to whether he was talking about her or the painting she was working on. "Y'know, if you're lookin' for a Wailmer, I can hook you up. We can always trade if you want." As they were near a body of water, Joey summoned the Wailmer and presented him to the artist. "Whaddya say? A paintin' that good, you must be really after a Wailmer."
At that point, having been so caught up in trying to twist her arm, he noticed a strange looking mask just lying on the crate she had some of her tools on. Also by her feet was a cutesy little deer that was napping away peacefully. One thing was for sure, it didn't seem like she had a Wailmer on her. Hopefully the deal was a go.
