" ...Yes, mum, it's only going to be for a short while. I just need Weeble's help. I'll send my other Pokemon to you to look after you and dad. Stay safe." Getting off the video chat, Remi looked as a Pokeball was transferred back to her at the terminal. Having just checked up on her parents back in Goldenrod, Remi had also wanted to retrieve Weeble. The haphazard Spinda had been sent back to safeguard her parents whilst she continued on her journey. Having experienced some new events and also learnt a lot from Earl's Academy, she had felt the time was right. A rematch with Falkner was on the cards. And she knew if she was going to return to Falkner she wanted to claim her win with the original team she had alongside her when she lost originally. " Come on out, Weeble!" Having grabbed the Pokeball, she summoned the Spinda forth. Appearing with a tumultuous little spin, the Pokemon didn't seem to quite realise where Remi and Gex where standing. Eventually reorientating itself, the spot panda gave them both a thumbs up as it was happy to see them both again. Shaking his head a little despondently, it seemed Gex has forgotten just how chaotic Weeble was. Nevertheless, he was pleased to see his comrade again. Raising a hand, Remi was much more ecstatic to see the creature's return. " WEEBLE!" Leaning in and giving him a tight cuddle, the Pokemon embraced her in return and cried out happily. " Sorry to pull you back from my parents but we're going to rematch against Falkner." Immediately getting something of a reaction from the Spinda, Remi shook her head. " No, no, no. Please, Weeble. It won't be like last time. I've gone to trainer's school and i'm sure you've grown some from looking after my parents as their trusty protector." Effortlessly reassuring the Pokemon, it seemed as if the panda would change its mind. "Good. We shall return to the gym then." Returning Weeble, she and Gex exited out and headed for the towering gym. Re-entering it, Remi could tell it was going to be odd retracing her steps back to where she had suffered such a crushing defeat. " Don't worry Gex, I know we can do it this time. You're stronger, Weeble's stronger and I actually have an understanding of what a Pokemon battle involves. We can work together and win." Nodding her head, Gex couldn't help but wrap himself up in Remi's same enthusiasm. She was always able to do that. " Up we go again!" Stepping onto the elevator, Remi rode it all the way to the top. Now at the highest point of the gym itself, she stepped out onto the battlefield. Overlooking the entirety of Violet City, it was as picturesque as ever. But Remi didn't come here to admire the visuals. She was here to do battle. Looking around, she couldn't quite see Falkner but she was sure he was around. Lifting both her hands to her mouth, she called out. " Falkner! It's me, Remi! I've decided to trouble you for a rematch!" Lowering her hands, she began to get butterflies in her stomach. Not seeing Falkner right off the bat had meant she was now dwelling on their chances of success. Shaking her head, she attempted to ward off such thoughts. OOC: Time for a rematch.

Stepping into the elevator which took challengers up to the battle grounds for Falkner's Gym, Remi had returned with hopes of being successful this time around. Entering the Gym with both Gex and Weeble, the same two Pokemon she had used last time, she was certain that with the information she had learnt from the Violet City Pokemon Academy that this battle would be different. As she reached the top with Gex by her side, the glass roofed Gym looked out across the city of Violet and it certainly was an awe inspiring sight. Feeling her stomach crease due to nerves, Remi managed to summon up the courage to call out as Falkner wasn't initially standing in his usual place. For a few moments after her call, the area remained silent. Almost as if he wasn't in at all. Shaken by nerves but brave enough to remain standing for a rematch, her words would soon be answered as a flustered Falkner dashed out from a door on the other side of the Gym.
"A-Apologies for the wait, challenger! I needed to tend to--" Knowing that someone had ridden up in the elevator but unsure as to who, the familiar sight of the blue haired beauty caused Falkner to trip over his words and halt himself. Recognising the face, he stood in place and wore a genuine smile. "Remi! It is good to see you again!" Looking across to Gex, the Grovyle coolly looked over in his signature shades. "And... Is that Gex? You must've trained hard if he was able to evolve! Why, the last time you were here, he was just a small Treecko!" Laughing to himself, it was nice to recall a battle with a challenger and then to see them back at his Gym, to battle once again. "I am glad that you have returned and weren't discouraged by our previous battle. I accept your challenge and am eager to see just how much you and your Pokemon have grown." Pulling a Pokeball out from his sleeve, Falkner tossed it forward to reveal a familiar sight; a Pidgey. "Remember. To earn my Gym badge, you must defeat two of my Pokemon. Now, are you ready?"
Gym Leader Falkner has accepted your challenge! Falkner starts things off by sending forth Pidgey (Level 10) to battle!

Watching him from her side of the stadium, she couldn't help but smile softly as she realised he wasn't expecting anyone. Seeing him hurry out from his quarters and into sight, she accepted his apology. "That's quite alright." Bowing her head, she looked back up as she noticed her presence had shocked him somewhat. Had she come back too soon? Brushing aside her worry there, she listened to what else the gym leader had to say. The fact he had remembered her name was enough to ease her flurry of nerves. "Falkner. I'm glad you're well." She said, returning the greeting. Turning to her trusty Groyvle as Falkner appeared to pick up on the change in the Pokemon, she beamed positively. "Yes. My Pokemon and I have been improving our abilities. I simply hope this time around I will be able to fight you on a level playing field as a trainer who actually has some knowledge of what they are doing." She was very eager to make it known she was by no means an expert now at this point but the fact remained the Remi of today was in a whole other league from the Remi of yesterday.
Watching as Falkner accepted the rematch and tossed in his first Pokemon, Remi smiled gently at the sight of the Pidgey. "Pidgey, it's wonderful to see you again. I hope we have a good match." Bowing her head to her opponent's Pokemon, she was glad she was able to have another shot at this gym badge. "You'll be pleased to know I was able to catch a Pidgey of my own. She sings beautifully. I named her Songbird." Continuing her smile, she took out a Pokeball and tossed it forward. "But for me, for my Pokemon, I want it to be a rematch of the same Pokemon I used last time. Only then will I be able to prove to myself and my friends that I have improved. Go, Weeble!" Appearing out of the flash, the tumbling Spinda appeared, moving back and forth, not quite able to steady himself into one spot. Looking up and catching sight of the Pidgey, Weeble focused himself as he prepared to duke it out. This time, he would go above and beyond to make Remi happy. He had been down in the dumps from their defeat but after everything that everyone had done to cheer him up, Smiles notably, he wasn't going to flake out. "We're ready Falkner, that gym badge will be earnt with our new found strength as a team. Weeble, let us start off with a Tackle attack!" Saying it with such confidence, she had done a little bit of homework before having Weeble returned. Hopefully by acting so confident it would be imparted to her Pokemon.

Standing with his hands resting on his waist, the blue haired teen seemed pleased at Remi's words. After losing the previous match, she had gone elsewhere to partake in some training and in the way she presented herself, the woman came across as much more of a challenger. The battle last time was close, mind you, so Falkner was aware that this time it would be a matter of pure skill. After being in the Pokemon Academy for a short time, the blue haired beauty now had so much more knowledge and understanding of not only Pokemon battles but the world of Pokemon as a whole. She had even returned to her original team of just Weeble and Gex, the two Pokemon she had used in the original match. Wanting to have a victorious experience with these two Pokemon, as long as they worked together, there would be no doubt that the three of them would win this badge.
"Heh. It seems like you have grown, not only as a trainer but as a person as well. Very well. I look forward to this rematch, I have felt this way since you left my Gym the previous time." Nodding his head, Remi had been one of the kindest challengers he had ever met in his blossoming career, she was genuine, cared for her friends and was eager to learn. He couldn't think of a better type of person of whom he would be happiest presenting his Gym badge to. Greeting the Pidgey, the small bird fluffed up it's body of feathers and cooed gently in response, it also recognised the returning trainer. But that wasn't all, Falkner's face lit up like a child, upon learning that she had captured her own Pidgey. "Fantastic! And a fitting name, I am sure! I adore all bird Pokemon but I must admit, I am biased to the Pidgey line. I am certain you will raise it well." Happy that someone else shared his fondness of the avian, his smile was tinted with warm, rosy cheeks.
As Remi chose her own Pokemon, Weeble the Spinda, even Falkner looked up as if to reminisce. "Yes, this will be a most interesting battle. Come, show me how you and your team have grown and how your friendship has deepened." For once, Falkner threw his smile away for a much more serious expression. "Counter attack with Gust, Pidgey!" The head and armband wearing bear tripped his way into action, as the Pidgey also lifted from the ground in order to approach Weeble. The Spinda had been staying at Remi's home in order to protect her parents but for his trainers sake, he was prepared to enter this battle. Tripping precariously forward in movements very typical to his species, Weeble managed to get close enough to the low flying Pidgey to tackle himself into it's body. Cooing loudly, this time, Weeble was packing a much stronger punch and Falkner realised it in that exact moment. Still, the Pidgey pulled back, wings flapping up a whirlwind of sand from the Gym floor and attacking the Spinda with a rush of gusty winds.

Smiling over at Falkner, she was indebted to him for the guidance he had provided following her loss. After all, had he not have directed her to the idea of enrolling at Earl's Academy, she'd still be fumbling about in the dark. "Your suggestion to study at Earl's Academy went a long way into helping me. I'm still not fully graduated but having cleared the beginner's course, I felt it would be practical to put my new found knowledge to good use." She was still nervous but conversing with Falkner and thanking him for his help was starting to put her fully at ease. Seeing how happy he was over the news of her own Pidgey being caught, she laughed delicately. "I hope one day to evolve her into a Pokemon as fine as your Pidgeotto. That will definitely be some time off though... Although i've studied, things like evolution are quite advanced and beyond my current knowledge." It had been miraculous in itself that Gex was able to evolve so she was not so sure how the process worked. Others had also evolved under her care but it seemed to be under times of great duress or maximising a social bond.
Their pleasantries exchanged, Remi's own expression hardened somewhat as Falkner became serious in juxtaposition to how he was moment's ago. Hearing the attack being commanded, Remi nodded her head. It was one she was familiar with now and knew it could be a deadly attack. This time around though, Weeble was stronger and knew what to expect. Her hopes were higher that they would be able to defend better against it. Precariously teetering over and almost tripping up on himself into a tackle, Remi smiled through her worrying concern for the Spinda but knew this was part of the parcel when it came to their species. "Oh... Careful Weeble!" She couldn't help but call out. Gex on the other hand had sunk his face into the palm of his hand. It was never easy watching this panda bear fight. The attack connecting, Remi was quick to call out and bolster Weeble's focus. "Weeble, watch out, a windy Gust is on the way!" Spinning around to face Remi and giving her a nod before twisting around to look at the Pidgey, the Pokemon did its best to guard but was still battered nonetheless.
"My... It seems like our Pokemon are still quite matched for one another." As much as they had trained, it was testament to Falkner's expertise as a gym leader that he was still standing. "We're not done yet though, are we Weeble?" Getting an excited nod from her Spinda, she looked back over to Falkner. "We've got a special move that we practised on in our training. Ready Weeble? Copycat!" Hearing the order, Weeble began to spin around and around furiously, like a Tasmanian devil, it almost appeared to be doing its best to mimic the attack Falkner's Pidgey had just done.

Learning that Remi had indeed taken part in the local Academy, hearing that she had been able to pass the beginner's course truly lifted his spirits. He had felt guilty the last time they had battle. Remi seemed like such a genuine girl that defeating her in battle just didn't feel quite right. But in the end, the loss had given her the opportunity to grow stronger and now, she had a better direction in mind, regarding becoming a Pokemon trainer. "Excellent! Earl is quite the character but he certainly knows how to teach aspiring trainers!" Grinning from ear to ear, the headmaster was odd in every sense of the word but he was also very caring and knowledgeable, making him well respected amongst the residents of Violet City. "I hear that the courses can go quite in depth. I am sure I would be able to learn a thing or two from the students there, with the amount of knowledge Earl knows." Rubbing a hand along his chin, Falkner considered popping in for a visit of his own. "Haha! Considering you were able to finish the Beginners course so quickly, I assume you were the star pupil!"
Though Remi still seemed a bit uncertain and that was understandable. She had crammed so much knowledge into her head in such a short amount of time, it was impossible for her to suddenly be a master at everything. "Yes... Evolution is amazing thing and can happen to Pokemon in so many different ways." Trailing off, he held out a hand loosely, as he explained his own views, "However, whilst Earl's Academy is very impressive, I also believe that taking part and doing something yourself is a good way to learn. Your bond with Gex has already been established as he was able to evolve, so as long as you treat your Pokemon with love and care, I am sure they will become stronger." With their conversation halted as their two Pokemon battled, Falkner was impressed with Remi's improvement. Her Spinda was hitting hard but the two were still well balanced. Just because Weeble had been a bit firm with his tackle didn't mean that the battle was over. "I concur!" Falkner responded, "This battle will be much closer, in terms of strength." Pausing as he tried to think up a quick strategy, he felt it was best to switch his approach a little. "Pidgey! This time, attack with a Sand Attack!" An accuracy lowering move, Falkner figured it was best to lower Weeble's chances of landing a physical attack. Yet, Remi had a plan herself.
"Copycat?" Falkner questioned, with a slightly surprised expression. He had either heard of the move and was surprised that Weeble knew of it or hadn't experienced it for himself. Either way, he was in for a treat! Using the last move that had happened on the battle field, Weeble was about to come up with his very own variation of the move, Gust. Teetering on his bear like toes, the spotty Pokemon began to spin around in circles, his speed becoming faster and faster as trails of wind followed behind him. Kicking up a whirlwind of sand, the gush of spinning air flew for the Pidgey, who had been too shocked to even move! The gust crashed into the Pidgey's body, lifting the avian up from the ground and throwing it around the spinning winds like a rag doll. Landing on the ground with a bit of a bounce, the weak bird staggered up, using its wings to try and regain some balance. "How... How incredible! I haven't seen anything like it before!" Impressed with Weeble's attack, the dizzy bear soon came to a stand still, giving Pidgey enough time to position itself just right before kicking up a wave of sand to blur his vision.

Laughing happily, Remi had to cover her mouth up with the tips of her fingers as she laughed a bit too hard. "Yes, I think character is an understatement. Thoroughly eccentric. The way he spins and prances around." Just thinking about the portly headmaster in her mind was enough to conjure up thoughts of Earl spinning around frantically as Weeble was doing. In fact, there was a high possibility Spinda were Earl's signature Pokemon. As their talk lingered on the amusing gentleman, Remi seemed a little surprised that even Falkner felt he might be able to learn a thing or two. "Truly? I'm surprised to hear so... Well. Not entirely. I guess there is a lot we can all learn. It's impossible for any one person to know everything." Thinking it over, Tammy was certainly a prime example of this. Although technically a senior at the trainer's school, she had a lot to learn still. Smiling, she teased an invitation with Falkner. "Well then! I suppose we should head down together. We could partner up and be study buddies!" Smiling warmly, it seemed Falkner would return with a slight compliment of praise of his own for her. A faint blush on her cheeks, she smiled it away. "Heheh, I wouldn't go as far as to say that. Rather, I was the one asking all the questions for being so clueless."
Going on to praise her some more, she nodded her head as she realised what he was alluding to was very much the decision she had carved out for herself. "Would you be impressed to hear i've decided to do such a thing? As you know, I passed the beginner's course but before moving onto intermediate and advanced I thought it would be best to let things sink in. Associate the teachings with real world experiences. I plan on returning but for now... I want to see if i'm able to put sense into what has been taught." Leading them back to the very battle they were engaging in now, it seemed like she was the type of character who was keen on plotting out their objectives far in advance. Many others would have just bunkered down and continued on with the study or just remained in blissful ignorance by remaining a complete amateur. Hearing that Falkner was eager to rise to the challenge as she was, she gave him a determined look. Despite her delicate mannerisms and politeness, there was an undeniable sense of there being a person who didn't give up deep down inside her.
Listening as Falkner commanded his order, Remi encouraged her Spinda on. "Don't worry about Falkner's Pidgey, Weeble! Keep spinning round and round!" Looking back over the chaotic mayhem as Falkner queried the move, Remi merely shot him a pleased smile. She wasn't going to act as if she was a battling genius but having gone over studying her Pokedex the night before she recalled Weeble back into service, she had gone over what techniques the spot panda had and realised the move would be of some use if they could pull it off right. Knowing Falkner was keen on using gusts of wind to strike at opponents, she hoped Weeble would be able to replicate the move. Deciding to use the Pokemon's clumsy and lack of balance to its advantage, it seemed like the Pokemon was finally working with its bizarre ways rather than fight against it. The winds starting to pick up, Remi cheered on some more. "You're doing it Weeble, keep going!" Even Gex was mesmerised by the sight. Lowering down his shades, he had his mouth slightly ajar. This was like watching a Grumpig fly.
Before long, a genuine gust of wind was whipped up and by flourishing the end of its manic spin followed by the kick, the swirling gust battered into the Pidgey, causing it to recoil backwards. "You did it Weeble!" Over the moon with how well her Pokemon had performed, she wanted nothing more than to run out and give her Pokemon a big cuddle for pulling it off so flawlessly. Almost about to, it was only when the Pidgey retaliated with a dashing off sand to Weeble's face that Remi halted back, realising it was dangerous to go running in. Tapping the top of her head as if to tell herself off, she laughed. "Oh silly me... I was just so glad to see Weeble's performance. I'm glad you were impressed though, Falkner." Not wanting to get too distracted, she quickly tried to reign herself in and focus on the battle at hand. From what she understood, the lowering of Weeble's vision meant its accuracy was going to be unreliable. And there would be no way of copycatting that move. Remember how much of a keen eye Songbird had, it was very much going to be the case such a trick would fail on Falkner's Pokemon. What she needed was a guaranteed hit. Thinking it over, she recalled back to the school and what a friend had advised. Smiling at the thought of her friend, she nodded and spoke out confidently. Such decisiveness was a world apart from how Remi acted before.
"Weeble, don't worry, we can still do this. There won't be any loses for us today. Use your... Your... Oh..." Coming to an abrupt halt, she couldn't believe it but she had forgotten the move. Thankfully, her hand resting on her card necklace reminded her of what had been planned. Having spent time with one of her friends at the academy, they had gone over Remi's collection of Pokemon Trading Cards and Becky suggested a move combination from one of the Spinda cards she had. Pulling them out and quickly consulting, she was a tiny bit amused how despite her improved knowledge, these cards were still helping her along the way. "...Where is it... Come on... So many cards... Aha! Weeble, Feint Attack!" Recalling it from the Spinda card she had, the move and its effect all came back into her memory as she remembered Becky's advice. Trusting her friend, she was hopeful in this overcoming the loss of accuracy.
OOC: Accuracy loss? Nuh uh! Feint Attack!

Rubbing the back of his head shyly, Falkner knew that he had a relatively well respected position in the region. Being a Gym Leader meant that he had the talent and brains worthy of it, however, that didn't mean that he was able to stop learning. Knowledge was unlimited and even he still had plenty to learn. "Yes, I still enjoy learning. The Academy provides so many different ways to learn that sometimes I wish I was back to being a full time student." Letting out a bit of a jovial laugh, Falkner was still young but held great responsibilities. "But, by being a Gym Leader, I can also take the role of being a teacher. Almost!" Shying away, he had never really thought of himself in that way but he did have a bit of a fan following. Being the first Gym Leader of the region meant that most were able to trounce him but in his eyes, he was able to give them the first push of this badge collecting challenge, to them watch from afar as they scaled to the path of the Elite Four. "Heh. That is settled then. We can have the students teach us a thing or two!"
The rather laid back Gym Leader turning to his Pokemon, the Pidgey was in quite the state. Weeble's terrific presentation of Gust had landed quite the number and now it felt as if the bird was seeing double. Staggering on the spot, the blue haired male was certain that this next round would be the end for his precious, feathered friend. "..Copycat. A very unique move. It was able to create a Gust itself. Why, I am certain that Weeble would be able to copy even stronger attacks, as well!" Interested in perhaps finding a bird Pokemon able to perform this way as well, Falkner had to put his interests to the side for now. "Are you alright, Pidgey?" He questioned calmly, receiving a stern coo from his team mate. "Very well, continue with another Gust!" Returning to the offensive, the Pidgey spread its wings but as it looked forward, Weeble was already on the way with an attack of his own! After shifting through her cards, Remi found a particular one, which an academy friend had suggested for her to try out. Feint Attack would always land regardless of accuracy.
It took him a moment to work out but with a sudden smirk, Falkner understood her strategy. It pained him to see his bird Pokemon suffer but he remained silent, this was a battle to help give a new trainer the push toward many future victories. Swirling through the air at a low height, the Pidgey flapped towards Weeble but the Spinda had already bolted straight past the avian. Looking as if he were about to strike head on, the bear had swerved to the side, landing an unexpected, deft blow to the gut of the Pidgey, causing the bird to crash land. Giving his Pokemon a moment for the off chance that it would get back up, a lone clap tore through the silence. "Congratulations, you have managed to defeat my Pidgey again, Remi and Weeble!" Lifting up a Pokeball, he withdrew his fainted partner and thanked the bird in a whisper, before moving onto the next. "Are you both ready for Pidgeotto again? Let us see if you can defeat us this time!" Throwing the ball forward, yet another familiar opponent made itself known once again. Remi was almost there, just one more push and she could win!

Listening to Falkner's words carefully, Remi was a little taken off guard as he mentioned about the true potential of Copycat. " Powerful... Attacks? Oh... I'm not sure. We had only really practised doing a Gust as we knew it was a move you used." Smiling daintily, it meant she now had a whole new strategy to figure out. If Weeble was as good a copycat as Falkner suggested, she realised the spot panda must have had some inner ability which allowed for such tactics. It just seemed a little hard to imagine accident prone Weeble pulling off Ice Beams or Giga Drains. Nevertheless, the trialling of Copycat would have to wait for new challenges in the future as it seemed Falkner was reverting back to another Gust assault. Her orders clear, she hoped that her Spinda would be able to pull off what Becky had suggested. She had made aware of accuracy drops to which Falkner used to his advantage and if this move guaranteed a hit by feinting the Pokemon, it would only succeed further by powering up thanks to the mysterious gem she had been gifted. Knowing the outcome of this battle would make or break Weeble's confidence having lost against the very same Pidgey before, she was pouring out all of her hopes that the Spinda would be able to come out as the victor. Watching as her Pokemon bolted forwards in a haphazard manner, he closed the gap extremely quickly. Observantly focused on the action, Remi realised that although his movements seemed haphazard, never once did Weeble fall down. It looked awkward to everyone else but this seemed to be the preferred way of moving to the Pokemon. If it worked for the little bear, it would be good enough for her. This next blow would prove the intricate ways we go about accomplishing things can work in all varieties. Feinting his movements, it confused the Pidgey and allowed for a wide opening. Clutching onto the gem it was holding, the Spinda powered up in a black aura as it struck its paw forwards, connecting hard with the bird. " It... Worked?!" Called out Remi as she saw the Pidgey go flying backwards against its own volition. The strategy Becky had suggested had definitely pulled through. No doubt as an understudy in the advanced courses it was a result of her lessons. Clapping her hands together ecstatically, Remi was over the moon with how well Weeble had performed. Having lost out mid way through its battle against the Pidgey prior, it was a real indicator of how far Remi and Weeble had progressed. " WEEBLE! You did brilliantly! I'm so proud of you!" Spinning around to look at Remi, the Pokemon look a little bewildered with the fact it had pulled through and claimed victory but was happy all the same. Raising a paw and scratched the back of his head, the Pokemon seemed all too modest about its win. Despite the joyous overcoming of the Pidgey, Falkner wasn't going to stop just there. With a single Pokemon left, he sent it out and made warning of the final challenge. Being left with a question, Remi locked eyes with Falkner. Gently nodding her head, she knew she would have a better chance overall this time around. Poor Weeble however, had not been conscious the last time around when the battle had occurred. Looking up as it took in stock of the Pidgeotto, the Pokemon began to tremble nervously, as it panicked at seeing a renewed, larger threat in front of it. It had beaten the Pidgey but it wasn't sure it could take on this evolved form. " Weeble, please." Reassured Remi. Before the Spinda could turn around, he was met with a green hand being placed on his shoulder. Turning to look at the owner, it seemed Gex had moved on in to the battlefield. Staring at the Pidgeotto over the top of his shades, it seemed like the Grovyle had unfinished business of its own. Looking down to his comrade, Gex nodded and made sure the Weeble was aware it wouldn't have to do this fight alone. " Don't worry Weeble, Gex was adamant about taking this next battle. Please, return to my side, you've done so well and deserve a rest." Unable to quite fully hide his relief, the Spinda wobbled over to Remi's side and peered from the side of her legs at the battle to be. " I will be using Gex for this next round. Ever since we planned our return, he was very particular in about taking this part of the rematch." Adjusting his specs, the Pokemon assumed a fighting stance as it was more than ready to prove itself this time around. It had been stomped thoroughly last time around thanks to Remi's inexperience and the type disadvantage but this time around Gex was a lot stronger and Remi's knowledge was greater in terms of depth. That alone would account for the disadvantage that remained being the type weakness to Falkner's Flying Pokemon. The last time around Gex had at least got a Quick Attack in as a small insult in not going down without a fight. Things would be different this time it hoped. " Okay Gex... I know you were also very adamant as well about not planning ahead for this fight. So I will rely on my cards." Nodding her head, she slipped out a card from her necklace. It seemed that Gex would rather put his trust in the cards Remi put faith in to win this battle. Looking at her card, she read out the move. " Gex, open up with a Fury Cutter!" Her hand clutching onto the card tightly, she smiled as she appreciated the Pokemon's gesture of trusting in the cards. Since hanging out with her from a young age, the Pokemon had always been aware of her favouring of the trading cards and if it made her relax in such an important fight, it meant he could focus more on battling than worrying about his trainer. Brandishing his bladed arms upwards, Gex was certain he had the speed advantage this time around. Allowing a chance for Falkner to guide his Pokemon, Gex remained poised, awaiting to attack. One Pokemon had fallen, and one remained. Remi had already progressed better than her last Gym attempt, and that fact hadn't been lost on Falkner. Relatively pleased with her progression and strength thus far, Falkner watched his Pidgeotto with interest. His biased bird line was powerful, but would they be powerful to take down Remi's evolved Pokemon? Unsure if she'd have a card under her sleeve, such as the Feint Attacks, Falkner had decided to play things a little safer. Better to allow Remi a clean slate instead of hold what happened prior against her. "I have to admit, i'm incredibly curious to see just how powerful Gex has gotten." He had already gotten the initial surprise out of his system when Remi walked in with the cool, collected Pokemon, but more surprises were in store. Remi's words confused Falkner, but it wasn't anything that he could let shake him. A fury cutter? Perhaps Falkner was unintentionally feeling superior. Grovyle was already going to have a difficult time against his avian lineup. "I can understand the feeling. As I mentioned before, i'm glad that you came back. Let's see what you guys have in store for me! Don't forget to let out all the stops, and hold nothing back." The Trainers School was no joke, and if she had learned something there, then Gex was going to be a good opponent for his Pidgeotto. "Let's test the waters here, Pidgeotto. Force Gex into a corner with Gust!"Pidgeotto, rather accustomed to moving first in most battles with serene grace and speed, was shocked when Gex appeared behind it. Why would the Grovyle dash forward to make the attack easier? It wasn't until a few feathers drifted down from the birds body that Pidgeotto realized it had been hit. While it didn't hurt, the sheer speed from Gex had been astonishing. Even Falkner was surprised, mouth agape in a slender O. "That speed! While it wouldn't be the move I had used, your Gex is so quick! And to throw himself into the battle like this with the utmost trust in you... Pidgeotto, let's show our bond!" Pidgeotto's wings flapped at the retreating Grovyle, but even the quick Gex wasn't able to dodge the attack. Even still, the grass Pokemon had come a long way, shrugging off the attack and standing strong, just like Remi. Falkner crossed his arms and smiled. This was why he was a Gym Leader. Pleased Falkner was interested in her progress through virtue of Gex's own strength, she continued to hold onto her Grovyle card as she watched their Pokemon lock themselves in the throes of battle against one another. "Gex has always been there for me and no doubt will always continue to do so. I know this may seem disadvantageous, even downright silly to send a Grass type in against a Flying type but I believe in him. My studies at Earl's Academy taught me that exploiting type effectiveness was a means of pushing victory into your favour. But I am also certain it by no means secures it." Her words may have been inspiring but it really did seem as if she was fighting a losing battle by ordering such a move as Fury Cutter. Hearing the gym leader call out for a tactical Gust to apply pressure to her Pokemon, she called out in support. "Stay strong Gex, i'm rooting for you!" As her words left her lips, she watched as the green lizard went dashing forwards in the blink of an eye. It was so fast that by the time it made it to the other side of Pidgeotto, it had left its foe in a state of confusion. Only when the pain set in that the Pidgeotto realised it had been nicked by the bladed leaves sprouting from the reptilian's arms. "Very good Gex, that was a great effort." Smiling, she was glad her Pokemon was able to pull off these moves she had on the cards she owned.
Used to his lithe agility, she watched as Falkner's reaction made her realise that she had become desensitised to it. "Oh! Yes... I sometimes look over how quick Gex can be. He certainly became faster as he evolved. I suppose that's another benefit to evolution." Thinking over the pros and cons of such a feat, she was snapped back into the duel itself as Gex was unable to dodge out the way in time for the mighty gust Falkner's Pidgeotto had whipped up. "Oh! Gex! Hang in there!" Sliding backwards to where Remi stood, the Grovyle simply shrugged off its sustained injuries and assumed the battle stance it had taken once more. "AH! You're okay Gex!" Beaming proudly, she was pleased Gex had managed to withstand the attack. Last time around Gust had proven near fatal in its ferocity. "Gex's determination is really shining through. Even though that attack is effective against Grass he seems to be pushing past this." Nodding her head with determination, she looked down at the card and then back up to the fight. It seemed as if the text on the card suggested to keep on attacking with the move she had ordered previously. "Gex, perform Furry Cutter once more!" Raising his arms, the spectacled lizard seemed all too keen on the idea. Darting off forwards, he hoped to land another strike on the rival Pokemon.

Falkner nodded as his challenger continued to offer some incredibly wise-sounding words. “Yes, yes, that much is true. Type advantages certainly do not determine the outcome of a match by themselves. However, one has to learn to overcome these disadvantages, it can’t simply happen naturally. I’m excited to see just how much you’ve learned, and how you intend to defeat us.” Despite his apparent advantage and Remi’s use of the Bug-typed Fury Cutter attack, Falkner didn’t seem to be taking much for granted after that speech. The trainer certainly knew how to talk a big game, and that alone was worth commending; particularly so after having already lost to this Gym once before. Earl’s teaching had, at the very least, clearly left Remi with a sense of belief that she could win this time around. Noticing how resilient Gex was still looking, the Gym Leader piped up once more in reply to Remi’s praise. “Yes, I can see just how much this Grovyle has matured already. It’s quite heartwarming to see, in truth. He’s a fine testament to your training methods. Well done.” Once he had finished praising his opponent, Falkner turned his thoughts to the battle ahead and mused over his next attack. An idea hit him almost immediately, and he called out to Pidgeotto. “Pidgeotto, use another Gust attack! We’ll see how long that resolve of Gex’s lasts!” The avian Pokémon chirped and began to raise his wings high above his head. Gex, however, was again one step ahead of his foes and face-to-face with Pidgeotto in a mere heartbeat. Raising his arm, he slashed down across the Flying type’s breast once more, eliciting a screech of pain and shock from Pidgeotto before he knew what hit him. Falkner exclaimed in admiration once more. “Your Grovyle’s speed truly is marvellous to behold. Of course, speed is nothing if one cannot hurt the opponent enough, which we’re very capable of ourselves.” As if answering his trainer, Pidgeotto flapped his wings furiously and generated another powerful Gust in the middle of the arena. The strong winds once more collided with Gex who, as much as he might have wanted to stand his ground, flew halfway across the floor and landed awkwardly on his back. Rising to his feet, the Grovyle growled in defiance and stared over at his opponent determinedly. “That’s the way, give us more! This battle’s only just begun, after all. Now then, Remi, let’s see more of the trainer that you’ve become!” Falkner afforded himself an excited smile; he was evidently enjoying this rematch more and more with each round. Gym Battle

Continuing to stand their ground, Remi and Gex were another round in but things were starting to tip further and further into Falkner's favour. A little hesitant, she watched as Gex unleashed another powerful Fury Cutter before being pummelled with another fierce gust from the Pidgeotto. "Things are looking tough... Gex..." Staring at her Grovyle as he stood himself up and wiped the side of his face with his arm, she couldn't help but wonder if diverging from this successive strike offensive would be prudent. Being as much of a greenhorn as she was, it was difficult for her to ascertain just how overexerted Gex was. Taking his defiance as prompt enough that he could still keep on fighting, she looked to Falkner and respond to his words. "I have the utmost faith that Gex's speed will pull through in this fight. Our Pokemon are struggling to overcome the other but turn by turn, he appears to be coupling his speed with his strikes and landing more advantageous hits." Even she was able to see Gex was pushing above and beyond just how fast he could move. If anything, she was starting to wonder if he had held his hand and was starting to up the ante turn by turn. Lulling the opponent into thinking he was a certain type of speed only to push further doubly so was a definite possibility.
"I'm sure you must also come across trainers utilising Pokemon your Flying types are weak to and have to overcome. I'm glad we both share this understanding." Certain she had could recall something he said back in their first fight, it seemed many would prey on the gym leader's bird Pokemon and clip their wings with a jolt of electricity or launch a rocky offensive to stone them out of the air. "Gex, are you okay? Can you continue?" Deciding to outright ask her Pokemon as she focused on Gex, the reply was what she expected. Merely grunting in acknowledgement, the Grass type leaned forward and raised its arms. Clearly ready to push on for another round, there was still plenty of fight left in the Grovyle. "If you insist Gex. But please, if things get too much, Weeble will support you. As can I, we're all in this fight together." Peering from behind Remi's legs, Weeble bobbled his head nervously as a gesture he would step in if it required it, despite his nerves. Encouraged by her words and Weeble's presence, Gex shifted from side to side as it sized up the Pidgeotto. Hopefully this time it would be able to land a Fury Cutter to shame the rest. It had certainly got a measure of the avian. "Gex, another Fury Cutter!" A spry smirk on the Pokemon's face, it was all the Pokemon needed to hear as he launched himself forward once more in an emerald blur.

Folding his arms into opposite sleeves, Falkner smiled at Remi's words. Gex had indeed grown, both in strength, speed and appearance. The grass type moved swiftly and his strikes were clean and accurate, something which flicked a switch in the head of the blue haired Gym Leader. If he could perhaps alter the accuracy of his opponent, then Pidgeotto's Gust's would be far more effective. "Yes. Gex is certainly a sight to behold. He is an even match for my Pidgeotto, type disadvantage or not." Following up with what the female said next, it was indeed something that the older teen understood very well. To be fighting a grass type, it meant that Falkner had the advantage but that by no means meant that his Pokemon were being handed a definite victory. The Grovyle could defend himself well against the oncoming rush of air and whilst Falkner stood on the advantageous side, he had been on the opposite far too many times. "Many trainers enter the Gym, with hopes of clipping the wings of my bird Pokemon with electricity. It is something we train hard against to try and build up resistance but a weakness is still a weakness."
Smiling softly, the boy extended his hand forward, "I respect that you are battling with Gex. Type advantages are common strategy but fighting alongside your friends and supporting them is much more rewarding." Listening in as Remi gave a moment to vocally give her full support to Gex, the cool Grovyle kept his eyes firmly on the battle. It made Falkner's next choice of attack difficult to order, to say the least. Turning to his Pidgeotto, the avian pushed out it's chest proudly, awaiting an order. "Pidgeotto, let us stir things up for our opponent. Use Sand Attack!" Something which was used to try and falter Weeble previously, it was unlikely that Gex would be able to shrug off the sand with a move like Feint Attack. Or atleast, so Falkner assumed. But before the Pidgeotto could lift itself up from the ground, Gex sprang into an agile leap once again, approaching the bird with a sprint.
Lifting his bladed arms, the Grovyle landed two swift strikes in a cross formation, which certainly knocked the bird back a few paces. Staggering and struggling to keep itself on it's talons, the bird pushed itself into the air with an elegant flap, before pushing up a gush of air, whipping up the sand that scattered the gym floor. Swirling past the shades of Gex and blurring his vision, it was a hindrance that the Grovyle didn't need in this situation.

Fully understanding Falkner's words, she felt bad that many trainers decided to pick on his Pokemon's weakness but from when she recalled her teachings at the academy, it seemed like there was a definite focus on exploiting weakness and type advantages to further securing victory. "It seems to be the same way for Gex. We trained quite significantly but the gust of wind he is battered with, I can tell, it's tough for him to endure." Her worry now apparent, she gave shot Gex a long, furtive glance to try and ascertain just how beaten he was but the lizard was showing no signs of letting up. Still standing proud, it seemed like he had been given a second wind through the power of evolution and wasn't going to ignore taking advantage of it. With Falkner's order in and Remi already having commanded her own, she watched as her Grovyle went dashing forward in an almost invisible like blur. Wasting no time in using his blade arms to unleash a fury cutter across the opponent Pidgeotto, it seemed like he had fully picked up on the bird's weak spots and was able to land a devastating blow. It was so apparent even Remi was taken aback by it. "Gex! Goodness... That was a mighty hit!" Bit by bit, the move had started off weak but continued to get stronger and stronger the more it was used. Truly the cards had guided her well to close the gap between the two fighters.
Sadly, it wasn't enough still to fully faint the gym leader's champion. Recovering itself in an elegant manner, a huge swathe of sandy wind was whipped up and blinded across Gex's shades which sent the Pokemon retreating backwards cautiously as he tried to wipe his shades clean. Sadly, his glasses so impacted with the sand particles, it meant his vision wasn't completely returned. "Oh Gex, are you okay? Maybe it would be best if you put the shades to on... Oh okay." Already quite hesitant as she opened her mouth to suggest taking them off, she realised that such a request would be wasted simply because Gex had always worn these glasses and was never seen without them. Shaking his head as he shrugged off her idea, it seemed like he would willingly fight with even more of a handicap. "It's okay Gex, I understand. The shades are special to you. It's fine, we still have a good chance of winning this!" Holding onto the card in her hand, there was of course now a new problem to work around in this fight. "I can keep trying with Fury Cutter but no doubt that sand will make things tough to see for Gex. I can't keep relying on following the cards. I need to combine what I know with my instincts." Opening her eyes after a careful deliberation, she recalled a move Gex had used to get a defiant hit in the last time the two faced.
"Gex, we are going to shake things up too. Use Quick Attack!" It was a little unnecessary given how fast Gex was anyway but a neutral, glancing blow would definitely be the way forward. Holding the Groyvle card close to her chest she prayed to herself. "Gex, please, do everything you can to hang in there... We're almost there!"
OOC: Shake things up with a Quick Attack!
