Explore Route 32 for one battle.
After getting her first badge from Violet Gym, and having her Pokemon rest up after the battle, Peneloped invited her four Pokemon to a fun picnic by Route 32 early in the morning, where they were able to enjoy the chilly morning. Then, the sun would gradually rise, and they would be able to enjoy that too. Setting up a picnic mat, a new colored pattern that Penelope had bought, she laid down the mat and the food.
Narctar drank some water, and then stood idly as he soaked up the sun. Zuroy and Bunnelby, both rabbit like Pokemon, had a quibble or two about some potatoes and carrots, which Penelope had to step in and holler them to stop, as well as using her little girl's strength to pull them apart. After the ordeal was over, the two cooled down as they nibbled on their own food. Horizon was also sipping her own bottle of fruit juice.
Although it was morning, Penelope just wanted to have a good time before moving toward the next city.

As Penelope and her team left Violet City behind, the group ventured out into Route 32 to enjoy an early morning picnic. After defeating their first Gym Leader, Falkner, the young girl was able to progress toward Azalea Town, where the next Gym awaited. But until then, she was going to take things easy by having a break. As her Pokemon interacted in their own ways around her, she too took a seat and began nibbling away at the food she had packed. Whilst having a picnic was a good idea at the time, the weather slowly began to disagree. The more time Penelope and her Pokemon spent lounging around, the dimmer the morning sky became, until the once overcast sky turned to that of thunder clouds! With a massive boom and crash, the picturesque moment turned to one of horror as a thunderstorm rolled in.
The area becoming cloaked in a sheet of rain, the dark, grey sky above flashed with flickers of light every once in a while, the falling rain only becoming heavier. But before the group could flee to find shelter, something else had ran into their line of sight. Droplets of water rolling down it's body, a small creature came charging towards the picnic patch, the sound of "woop woop woop" leaving it's wide mouth with every step it took. Whether it was trying to look for shelter of it's own from the sudden rain or it was attracted by the sweet smell of the yummy goods, Penelope was now faced with a wooping Wooper and it was up to her if she chose to battle it or flee.
A wild Wooper (Level 10) has appeared! Please select a Pokemon to use in battle or Flee!

OOC: Bellsprout use VIne Whip
When the sky started raining, Penelope had swore that she checked the forecast before planning this picnic. However, sometimes the forecast can't predict spontaneous weather, like if the clouds just felt like raining just to ruin her day. She quickly put on her raincoat, and recalled her Pokemon, saved for Narctar, who was still standing idly to soak up water this time. Being a grass type, the rain was quite healthy for Narctar. Even though Penelope just had the Bellsprout for a short, she was still learning how to bond with it, and learning to observe his idiosyncratic behaviors.
She finally yelled at her grass type to follow her to find a shelter, giving the grass type some more time outside to absorb water. Before they moved much, a Wooper appeared, seeming to be attracted to the food left on her picnic mat. While there weren't a lot of food left after her Pokemon and herself devoured them, there were still some bits left that she could spare for the Pokemon.
Shielding her eyes with her hand as she spoke to the Wooper, she hollered, "You can have the food, Wooper! But I need to wrap up my mat first, because it's MINE! Narctar, use Vine Whip to slow down the Wooper while I wrap up really quick, ok?" She offered the wild Pokemon her food, but she was still possessive of her picnic... items, and a simple rain won't stop her from losing them in the wild.

The energetic Wooper became eager to devour some food as Penelope caught sight of the skipping Pokemon. But she was too busy wrapping up her mat to feed it straight away, so in order to calm the wild Pokemon down, she decided to attack it with her own. Or atleast, keep it at bay whilst she gathered her belongings. Ordering Narctar to attack, the Bellsprout slipped forward, standing between Penelope and the oncoming Wooper. Narctar had been enjoying this brief shower of rain, as unexpected as it might've been. But now he could look beautiful and elegant battling in this fearsome weather. In fact, a crash of thunder and lightning lit up the sky overhead, almost like a cue for him to attack.
With a thrust of his vine like arms, the Bellsprout took aim for the Wooper, vines colliding into it's body with a whip like motion. In fact, the brief strike was enough to send the Wooper heading in the opposite direction. Rolling back upon impact, the Wooper felt a bit swirly headed before staggering back up onto it's feet. Eyes welled up slightly, it turned tail and ran. It wasn't going to get any closer to that scary Bellsprout, even if food was involved!
Wooper: | Level 10 | Health: 0% ( 0/34 HP) Status: Normal Wooper fainted...
VS
Narctar: | Level 13 | Health: 100% (40/40 HP) Status: Normal Narctar used Vine Whip!
Congratulations! The wild Wooper was defeated!Narctar gained 2 levels and grew to Level 15! Narctar can learn Poison Powder! Forget a move? +1 Happiness

Not paying too much attention as the Narctar went to slow down the hungry Wooper, Penelope hurried to roll up her mat, and pick up belongings as well as the trash from eating at this picnic. When she was finally done, she only have a few food left that were already opened and one unopened food for the Wooper. Thanking her Bellsprout's help, she returned her Bellsprout and then put the food on the ground with the passed out Wooper, hoping it would eat up the food before other Pokemon found it.
Then, she ran toward Pokemon Center as the rain poured down. She then had to dry her belongings and take a warm shower so that the rain won't weaken her immune system too much and get sick. Once that was done, she remained in her room with a pout face for hours, as her celebratory picnic was cut short by the unfortunate weather. Then, she kind of fell asleep while pouting.
When she woke up, she basically skipped dinner and was awoke at 5 am, which as a bit unusually earlier than usual for her. She got up and eat her breakfast, and then remembered that she could probably get to Azalea Town now, maybe they have even better weather and environment to have a picnic in. Hopefully no rain this time! She packed her belonging and headed out toward Union Cave.

Shooting straight through Route 32, it seemed just a few minutes before Penelope had arrived at Union Cave. The entrance was quite large, a perfectly rounded arch shape which signified that it was manmade. Though the cave had existed long before humans dared to set foot inside, it had since been renovated and quite impressively so. As Penelope stepped inside the Cave, she found herself walking down steps that were quite obviously unnatural. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, the picnicker could finally see the main body of the cave with her very eyes. There were tourists everywhere in this massive place, despite it being rather early in the morning for sightseeing. All over this first ‘room’ of the cave, people marvelled at its sound and stable structure. The inner cave looked mostly untouched by human hands, aside from the occasional structural edit to make it safe for tourists. Well, that and the numerous lights and torches that adorned the walls and ceilings. Wild Pokémon wandered across the floor of the cave, not looking remotely worried about all the humans nearby. It seemed as though the native wildlife was quite used to people trespassing in their home, which was understandable given that this was the only passage to Azalea Town for Violet citizens. A slight tremor rumbled through the cave as an Onix tore past Penelope at top speed, not looking like stopping at all. A herd of Zubat could be heard nearby, though they sounded like they were just fluttering about with no real aim. And then there was the Aron. A lone Steel type tottering around on the slightly uneven earth. It looked a little lost in truth. The tiny Iron Armour Pokémon stumbled around, unsure of where to walk next, when it bumped into something relatively soft compared to its own head. Something a little squidgy with a firm centre. Something pinkish in colour. Something that looked suspiciously like a human leg. The Aron looked up to see Penelope and squeaked in shock. It jumped back as far as it could, given its weight and stubby legs, and cried out loud. It was alarmed and ready to strike. The clumsy Aron (Level 13) will make Penelope pay for not dodging its head! Will she fight or flee?

OOC: Vivillon lead but then switch to Bunnelby and use Mud Shot. It should be Mud Shot over Mud Slap at the end of my violet gym battle thread.
IC: Walking down the stairs of Union Cave, she finally arrived at an area where there seemed to be people and wild Pokemon wandering about, and both parties are respectful of each other. From Onix to Zubat, the Union Cave was quite lively for the little girl. She smiled at the peacefulness between two parties, and the very distinctive lack of trash lying around.
Then she suddenly felt a bump on her legs, and it was a little painful because of Aron's hardy head. She looked down and saw the steel type, who was ready to attack because she was in its way. She shook her head and sent out a Pokeball out to battle.... nothing on the ground. She looked up and saw that she accidentally sent out her Vivillon instead because the cave was a little darker than outside and she sent out the wrong one. While she have had camping experience in the dark, this wasn't the same as finding a bag of marshmallow in the dark. She returned the flying Pokemon and then toss another ball out, her Bunnelby! She ordered her Pokemon to use Mud Shot, so she can carry on to the rest of this cave.

[So it should; I’ll get on that Mud Shot update once I’m done here.]The first Pokémon to oppose the Aron, who was quite accustomed to the environment, was the brightly-coloured Vivillon, Horizon. Being a Bug type herself, Horizon inherently had better night vision than her own trainer. She took one look at the Aron and fluttered about nervously, seeming to notice her significant disadvantage. Aron wasn’t quite so well versed in Pokémon matchups, but was all the same going to make the butterfly pay for floating there. Aron’s beef was with the human, not this thing. The ‘thing’ soon disappeared, though, and was replaced with another non-human being. Specifically, the as-yet-unnamed Bunnelby. Again having good night vision, Bunnelby had no trouble in identifying the Aron. It looked absolutely fit to burst with anger now. Was this human mocking it? IT? The Spectacular, Splendiferous Aron? Aron started to paw at the ground beneath it, revving itself up to strike. It then charged forward toward the Bunnelby, head lowered to the ground with the top of its skull showing. Bunnelby had little chance to do much of anything before being smacked with a fearsome Headbutt. He fell down on his rear end, more in shock from the blow than anything else. This Aron was quite a spunky one, to say the least. Bunnelby quickly regathered his mind and recalled his trainer’s orders. Mud Shot. An attack he hadn’t been able to use in battle since learning at the Violet Gym. This was his chance. Provided the attack connected, of course. His cheeks bulged as he brought up a disgusting level of dirt from goodness knows where in his body. He stayed like that for a few moments, readying himself before spitting the mud out at Aron. Aron didn’t know what was hitting it before the Ground type attack completely overwhelmed it. The Spectacular, Splendiferous Aron was getting itself beaten by some human’s pet rabbit. This was not on! Unfortunately for Aron, its protests were not going to save it. In a matter of seconds, it collapsed down onto the ground. That one attack had proven too much for it. Covered in mud, the once-shiny body of the Spectacular, Splendiferous Aron now had absolutely no life to it. A herd of Aron nearby squeaked in terror, seeing their friend defeated so easily, and ran as fast as their little legs would take them. An interesting start to Penelope’s Union Cave exploits, for sure. Wild Battle
Aron | Level 13 Health: 0% (0/40 HP)Status: KO’d Aron used Headbutt, then fainted in Spectacular fashion! VS Bunnelby | Level 18 Health: 77% (36/47 HP) Status: Normal Bunnelby switched in and used Mud Shot!
Congratulations! The wild Aron was beaten! Bunnelby gained 1 level for his win! He reached Level 19! +2 Happiness also because Soothe Bell! Horizon gained 1 level for watching! She reached Level 16! +1 Happiness because no Soothe Bell!

As the battle proceeded, this battle with Aron was something new for Penelope, as she wasn't familiar with cavern Pokemon. This Pokemon just didn't look like a tough little runt, its head seems to be also offensive with those hard metal looking things as hide. She had managed to catch sight of the Aron headbutting her Vivillon before her Bunnelby took it out with a Mud Shot, and then the herd of nearby Aron took their friend away.
Now that the first wild Pokemon was defeated, she thanked her Bunnelby and resumed walking in the Union Cave. She exited the tourism area and entered an area that was a bit less frequented, or at least right now it seemed less frequented. She was practically alone except for maybe other people who she can't tell if they were nearby, as she could still hear some muttering. With some lights shining through the cracks of the union cave, she'll have to figure out before sun set where to go to the next town.

As Penelope went away from tourism area there was more and more pokemon around her hiding from view. One of these pokemon was a Gastly, a ghost type pokemon which was known to be appearing a lot lately. Penelope soon came across this Gastly when it zoomed past once twice and then a third time. "Gasssssssssstly" The Gastly said in a whisper as it went past again before stopping infront of Penelope with the normal Gastly smile. It seems like it wanted to battle as it looked at Penelope's pokemon and made another cry, "GASTLY!" What ever it wanted to battle was unknown but with this pokemon showing up a lot lately would Penelope make the most out of it while she could? A wild Gastly (Level 13) has appeared! Please select a Pokemon to use in battle or Flee!

OOC: lead with bunnelby, then switch to VIvillon gonna try to make this funny because i'm gonna switch around pokemon like 3 times IC: Walking with her Bunnelby after the battle with Aron earlier, the young picnicker resumed walking toward Azalea Town. The area was getting less crowded with people, and even wild Pokemon were hiding in the dark avoiding contact with her. Enjoying a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Well, until she thought she heard something.
She looked around, a bit frightened, that she could possibly not die here tonight.
Then, a ball of gas with eyes appeared in front of her eyes. Oh, that was a Gastly, right? Even the name sounds like someone polluted the air. She had never encountered one before in her life, but she would glad to battle one. She sent her Bunnelby forward, but the little normal type Pokemon had a hard time getting used to this creepy ball's voice in this sort of dark cavern. Bunnelby shrieked and went back toward Penelope, and slamming her bag until something else came out of the Pokeball. Then Horizon came into the view, and Bunnelby sighed a breath of relief.
"Come on, Bunnelby, it's just Gastly, I thought you normal type resist ghost types...." She muttered at the frightened Bunnelby, then thought about it for a while and then realized that, her Bunnelby couldn't land a hit on the Gastly anyways. Woops. She got out-smarted by her own Pokemon, or that's what she thought for now.

Gastly chuckled, looking lively and entirely ready for the fight ahead. This is more than could perhaps be said for Penelope’s own Pokémon, as she realeased a rather timid Bunnelby into the darkness ahead of her. The lapine Pokémon had been a fantastic choice last time around, so perhaps she was hoping he’d be handy here too. However, the Normal type seemed quite unhappy with this opponent and ran off to get one of his allies to fight this match for him. Gastly roared with laughter at this sight, rolling around in the air in an uncontrollable fit of giggles. This trainer was quite something, releasing a Pokémon like that to fight. Well, it wasn’t easy to tell quite how much of this laughter was down to what it had just witnessed and how much was simply, well, down to an apparent tendency to laugh. The Ghost type was definitely the jovial type, that much was clear. A Vivillon, dubbed ‘Horizon’, was the replacement for Bunnelby. While Penelope berated herself internally, finally realising the blunder of choosing a Pokémon with only Normal and Ground attacks to battle a floating Ghost, the Gastly was trying desperately to compose itself. After a few final seconds of laughing, the spectre settled down into an unsettling giggle once more and started to make a move. It winced slightly, still laughing all the way, as it paid with its own life force to lay a curse upon its new foe. Horizon stared confusedly for a moment, then felt the power of the hex now plaguing her. She groaned, feeling incredibly nauseous all of a sudden. The Curse quickly took hold of her, draining a massive amount of her own health in an instant. This Gastly’s tactics were quite drastic, but they seemed to be paying off for the moment. Wild Battle

Now that the Pokemon of choice matter was settled, Penelope seemed to be ready for battle. The Gastly was laughing its gas off the entire time, probably mocking Penelope and/or her Bunnelby, which made her a little bit upset at this jovial Pokemon. Then, the Gastly did something that made Horizon visibly in pain. Did the ghost type Pokemon used a move already? While it's laughing? She was a bit confused about what was going on here. Though one thing was for sure, she certainly did not remember seeing Gastly in the traveler guide. Do ghost Pokemon need to migrate too?
Thinking that the opponent might be some sort of rare Pokemon around here, she told her bug type to step aside. Then, she dug through her bag and found a Pokeball, and hurled it in the air as far as her little girl's arm would let the sphere fly. Now, she would have to wait and see if this capture attempt would be successful.

[No, it’s not great. Yes, it’s an update. I wanted to get something done for you, so this’ll have to do. Sorry!]The Gastly and its Curse, which appeared to come out of nowhere, were quite the opponents to have come across. Penelope’s Horizon was already looking incredibly hurt, and the battle had only just begun. The young picnicker whipped out a Pokéball, her Vivillon floating to one side as soon as she was ordered to. This Ghost type would need to be silenced before it caused too much more trouble. This battle could get out of hand incredibly quickly if all of Gastly’s attacks were so potent, not to mention what trouble she’d be in if they were all as subtle as that one. The ball was quickly thrown at the Gastly, trapping it briefly. Once… Twice… CRACK!The spectre flew out of the container easily, giggling just the same as before. It stared contentedly at its target, a long tongue slipping out of its face slowly. It floated over to Horizon gradually, the tongue wagging about in the air. Looking a little disturbed, Horizon wasn’t sure what to do about this onrushing nightmare ball and was frozen in place. The Gastly quickly licked across her body, leaving her shivering from head to toe. Luckily, though, she didn’t seem to suffer any long-lasting ill effects. Wild Battle
Gastly | Level 13 Health: 50% (17/34 HP) Status: Normal Gastly used Lick! VS Horizon | Level 16 Health: 39% (22/56 HP) Status: Cursed Penelope used a Pokéball! But Gastly broke free!

Hearing the Pokeball popped out, Penelope was a bit disappointed. However, she quickly went over to her bag and grabbed another Pokeball on hand. Before she could toss it though, she watched the creepy fart ball of gas licking Horizon, making the bug type and the audience a little bit.... uncomfortable. She winced a bit from the imagination of if Gastly would lick her instead. It must be a tingly feeling for Horizon. Mindful that the curse was still in effect, Penelope decided to toss out her empty Pokeball once more, betting that her Vivillon would be able to handle one more turn. She took a step back and threw her arm out again, releasing the capture device from her hand and hurled it toward the Gastly.
