Another big addition to the upcoming games is Alolan forms. I'm not too sure what to make of them. Part of me feels the new concepts should have been executed as original Pokemon rather than revising original Pokemon but Morri mentioned how they feel a lot like subspecies in Monster Hunter. Bit like how you'd have Agnaktor has the original but there was also Glacial Agnaktor which had adapted to live in icy climates. Alolan Exeggutor is just... WHUT but some of the others are cool. Alolan Marowak is one of the better ones. What other Pokemon would you like to see adapting to Alola? I wouldn't mind seeing an Alolan Weezing. It'd be like a living volcano. More info can be found here on existing forms.

im just going to defend the alolan form that it's like speciation caused by separation of the same species group but they needed to adapt to new land
only thing is.
WHY DIDN'T RAICHU HAVE A BS EXPLANATION?
like they can come up with explanation for others but not this one?

I remember hearing something along the lines of the Alolan people didn't question it so it's like you said, very much a "it just is." Perhaps a bunch of Pikachu got swept out to sea and adapted to life at sea or something silly.
To me it feels like a huge nod to Puka in the animated series. It's a Pokemon that surfs (From the Pikachu line too) and has blue eyes. Not to mention it being Psychic corresponds with the fact Puka could pick up when the kahuna was about to hit.

Man... that Exeggutor is just scary. I was in the same-ish boat as you at first. Felt it kinda cheap to just redo the old pokés into new types for, sometimes, odd reasons. Like the ninetales, that could easily have just been a new pokémon as it is so different than the regular one. But they've grown on me a bit. I really like the design of the Sandslash The shrew family has always been one of my favorites but unfortunately I never go with them because their move set was rubbish. Admittedly it's gotten better since X/Y in that they have something other than Sand Tomb for a ground learned ground move. The marowak looks awesome. There's a fan art of an Alolan Jinx that would be cool to actually see in game. Pretty fitting methinks:

Wow, loving the concept of that Alolan Jynx. I know the games not out but from all the Alolan Pokemon seem so far, it seems like they've done some really weird choices when others would be more deserving. That and it's Kanto only. How about some other generations get some love?
Also, it gets a lot of flah but I quite like Alolan Persian.
