Thoughts? I'm undecided at this point. It does seem like a home/handheld hybrid so whether it replaces both the Wii U and 3DS is hard to say at this point but it'll definitely be the next step on from Wii U given they've confirmed production has ended for the console. The issue I have is, if it is meant to be the next step in home console entertainment but with some portable functionality, i'm not going to be too bothered with taking it outside. Also raises a question on whether this is where the Pokemon main series will end up. They always said the main games wouldn't be on home consoles as it defeats the idea of being able to play on the go and the fact they've always traditionally been on handhelds.

So as a few of us the past few weeks have been talking about the Nintendo Switch in the cbox I figured it was high time we create a thread about it. I already have my preorder in for a neon one and Breath of the Wild and a Pro controller as I skipped the Wii U and I wanted to get the Switch day 1 to make up for it. I am curious to see if any of you guys are getting a Switch and if you are which games you are looking forward to?
Beyond Breath of the Wild I am going to get Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and I might have to check out Splatoon 2 since I never played the first one. I also heard the Pokemon company is going to make games for the Switch with some rumors pointing towards it being a main game but we will have to wait and see. If nothing else a Pokken Tournament port would be wonderful as I never owned a Wii U to play it.
Not much else game wise that I am looking forward to as I have Skyrim on the PS4 already and trying to play that on the Switch would likely be a pain with the smaller screen and playing it on the tv will likely not be as nice as the PS4 version but I do like the mobile aspect. Here is hoping it does not end up a sales failure like the poor Wii U.

We've already got a thread for the Switch, I've merged the two topics.
I'm really tempted by the Switch. I like the concept and I'm hoping it will be successful. It seems to be an evolution of the Wii U in the sense it doesn't try to replicate the DS' dual screen success but rather extend off of the off screen play. I think a number of people were disappointed by being able to only go so far with that feature.
My main concern is a lot of the Switch's titles will be director's cuts of Wii U titles. Titles others may have missed but ones I sunk countless hours into and enjoyed on the Wii U. I'm all for expanded re-releases if it means others get a chance to play but don't get lazy and only release just them titles. Invest in some new stuff. Throw those who actually invested previously a bone otherwise I think you'll find you're going to miss a good chunk of sales.
I'm definitely excited by the prospect of Odyssey and even musou Fire Emblem. Sure it's on n3DS too but I bet the definitive version will be the Switch. Splatoon 2 looks more like an expansion at this point but that might just be they've not shown off as much yet. ARMs has be on the fence. It looks wacky, almost like this generations Splatoon but I'm going to have to see how much content they can cram in for it.

As I preordered on and got it on release day I figure it is time I go over my first week with it. Right now the only game I have is The legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild which is a fantastic game. The system itself does not have many features at the moment lacking even a basic web browser. You can share photos you take in game on Facebook and Twitter but that is it. The eshop is pretty barren but it does load really fast. They made it a bit weird how you get Nintendo points for physical copies of games and the amount you get is poor but it is better than nothing.
The games are even smaller than 3DS carts overall and the boxes are a huge waste of space as beautiful as the box art for BOTW is. The boxes could be less than half the size they are and there would be plenty of space. Minus that though the system is fantastic even with just Zelda. I have never had so much fun with a launch title before in my life though to be fair it is also on the Wii U as a swan song game. I honestly think it is even better than OOT. It is a shame the launch titles outside of it are hit and miss but Zelda takes a long time to beat unless you are a speed runner.
It is too early to know how it will do long term but they confirmed the first 5 days of sales are the greatest in Nintendo history and I can see why. The Switch is just so much fun even with it's faults and after the disaster the Wii U turned out to be I am really hoping this marks a turn around for Nintendo as I am a huge Nintendo and Sony fan at heart and watching the Wii U get flattened was kinda heartbreaking.
