Catherine had spent a lot of time in the route beneath Goldenrod City but as the cold weather began to slip in through the breeze of the nearby ocean, she found it difficult to continue travelling. The winter months affected her in more ways than simply being cold, thus she needed to keep herself moving to stay warm. Together, both she and the rest of her team spent a warm night within the local Pokemon Centre but when she awoke, her plan of action was to instead explore the city, rather than return to the grassy fields outside. Spending her time shopping in the large department store, the aspiring nurse found herself walking away with all manner of items, some being more useful than others. Rosy cheeked, she stepped out into the paved streets with a cheerful grin plastered across her face. "I can't believe Goldenrod City is this amazing! I would never see stuff like this back home!"
Ranging from Pokeballs to Potions to stuff toys and furniture, the store had certainly eaten up a lot of her spare time. Returning back to the Pokemon Centre for a quick rest, she rearranged all of her items into their designated slot, her Simisage, Atlas and Munna, Marzena, hanging around her. "So many useful items! Although, this means that I need to save my money back up.. Uwuu.." The amount she had spent sinking in far too late, Atlas wasn't exactly sympathetic and Marzena was as emotionless as ever. However, once Catherine had put a majority of her items away, the Munna perked up at a particular purchase, raising the eyebrows of Catherine. "Ooh, yes. Marzena, this is that stone you wanted! I've never seen you so eager about something before." In her grasp was a rough rock and it didn't look anything that great. "The cashier said that this was a Moon Stone but.. I heard they came from space! Surely they are misunderstood." A researcher despite her looks, Catherine was very sceptical about the item being what it was sold to her as. But with a float forward, her Munna tested the item herself; drawn to its cosmic powers.
As soon as Marzena's body came in contact with the stone, her entire body lit up, much to the surprise of both Catherine and everyone else in the Pokemon Centre at the time. Proving that the simple looking rock was indeed a Moon Stone, the shape of the Munna shifted and soon enough, the bright light dimmed, revealing that of a Musharna. A mixture of surprised and gleeful, Catherine raised a hand, stroking the much larger body of her partner. "M-Marzena!" She stuttered, "So it really was true?! It was a REAL Moon Stone?!" A laugh escaping her lips, she sprang to her feet, wrapping her arms around her friend with a tight hug. "You really evolved! You sly Pokemon, you!" Managing to peel herself away, the evolution had given Catherine a new sense of direction. "Okay! Let's carry on exploring this city! Atlas, Marzena, follow me! I heard just the place where both people and Pokemon like to hang around!" With that, the trio meandered through the streets, until she found the path to the infamous, Goldenrod Tunnel. Known for shady characters, it didn't put Catherine off in the slightest. Marching straight in, she was prepared to search for opponents and cute looking shops.
Using a Moon Stone to evolve Munna into Musharna and teaching her Psychic.
The Goldenrod tunnel featured many interesting and captivating sights that any lucky trainer would be lucky to visit/enjoy. A cornucopia of stores with many different amenities captured a lot of attention over the last few years. Busy people, busy stores, and busy Pokemon, all shuffling throughout the little district. The underground tunnel featured many trainers and Pokemon, ready for a good battle with one another. A Koffing had been hiding in a far off corner, but when it saw Catherine, it slowly began to float over to her. Koffing was really interested in this trainer’s Pokemon, as it witnessed the little Munna evolve, Koffing became more and more fascinated with this trainer. The evolution process was so captivating, and although Koffing hadn’t really seen many evolutions in its time, it still found this phenomenon quite fun. Although Koffing didn’t know much about evolutionary stones, it was ready to battle this trainer garner some new experiences in its lifetime. It gurgled and spat, letting Catherine know it was time to duke it out!
Reaching the Underground Tunnel, Catherine wore a gleeful expression as she gazed around in wonder. Not only were the streets above her lined with shops and people but here in Goldenrod, it continued underground! It was just as busy beneath the city, as her small feet tapped against the concrete ground, leading her to the start of the tunnel. From left to right, the walls were lined with stores and outside market stalls. Plus, there were people all around her, making it just as busy as it had been up above. Although, many were likely there to find shelter from the cold, winter weather. "Would'ja look at this, Atlas!" She squealed in excitement, whilst the grass monkey didn't quite share her happiness. Edging closer to his trainer, the Simisage eyed a stranger who had been lurking in the shadows. This wasn't the place for a gullible girl like Catherine to be, meaning he had to be even more on guard than usual.
"I heard there is a popular hairdresser around here who can make Pokemon really happy! Maybe they can tame that hair of yours!" Teasing her Simisage, Atlas furrowed his brow, tripping forward in order to chase after his trainer who suddenly sprang forward to begin her exploration. Only, they didn't get too far. Stopping as a purple shape spun past her face, Catherine spotted the Koffing, who had suddenly cut into her path. Seemingly eyeing up her Musharna, Catherine smiled happily as the wild Pokemon began making almost territorial noises. "Ah! I know that pattern! A Koffing!" Applauding herself with a gentle clap of her hands, she plucked a Pokeball off of her belt. "Okay little Koffing, I accept your challenge!" Sticking out her tongue with a small smirk, she took aim and threw a Pokeball forward, revealing her incredibly energetic Blissey, Yumina. Even Atlas had to hide his face in horror, the two of them together could end up causing so much trouble. "Heehee, okay Yumina! Aim an Ice Beam straight for the Koffing!" Hopping from foot to foot, the Blissey was more than happy to comply.
Koffing was quite surprised by this woman’s cheerfulness, usually trainers that came to this part of the city were quite competitive, but Catherine didn’t seem to let the competitive ambiance bother her even a little. Koffing greatly admired this trainer and depending on how this battle went, wouldn’t mind joining her.
Catherine’s Blissey was quite a shock to Koffing, as the Pokemon had never even heard of this pink Pokemon before today. Its round shape made for a great HP stat as well as some tough special defense. Blissey seemed almost similar to her trainer, an overall jolly soul with a lot of heart. A blue, frosty beam shot out at Koffing, and before it had any time to think, it was covered in an icy crust and mantle. Yumina’s serene grace made it so she had a double chance to freeze her opponent, which spelled bad news for Koffing as it fell to the floor in an immobile state.
Koffing | Level 24 | Health : 50% 30/60 Status : Frozen!
Yumina | Level 27 | Health : 100% 183/183 Status : Normal
Bounding onto the scene, the large Blissey let out a continuous string of happy chirps and chips, as if she were in the middle of a conversation. A friendly soul, yet still too overbearing for most to handle, there were times when Yumina had much more energy to show which had even tired Catherine, herself out! In this case, it had been a while since the Blissey had been sent out to battle. She usually thought of such things as a game, not considering the fact that the opponent was sometimes badly injured from this 'rough play'. "Heehee, aim and fire! Dont be too hard on the Koffing, now!" Drawing in her breath, all of a sudden, the sound of cracking ice soared through the Underground, as the Ice Beam shot straight for the Koffing.
Not having enough time to react, the floating ball of gas not only was struck but also suffered a terrible aftermath. A part of the Ice Beam had struck it's body, making it so that the ice grew and surrounded the Koffing to the point that it had been encased in a solid block of ice! Gasping at the sight, not seeing anything like it before, even the bouncing Yumina slowed down a pace or two. "O-Oh no! That Ice Beam must've been really effective!!" Taking a step next to her Pokemon, the two shared a similar, worried glance before Catherine managed a smile. "Not to worry, Yumina! We can just capture this one and get it all healed up! Let's see here.." Shuffling through her bag, this time, she brought out a very simple Poke Ball. "This should do it!" Pulling her arm back, she uttered an apology to the Koffing under her breath before throwing the Poke Ball forward.
Koffing lied in a frozen block of ice and began to think reflectively about its life, would this be the end? Staring into the void, Koffing thought of all the friends and trainers it had faced while living in the tunnel. As Catherine cooed to her pink, round Pokemon, Koffing sat in the block of ice that was rapidly melting. In the time span of the cryogenic state, Koffing continued to think about its time in the tunnel and whether it would ever be released from this ice block. As Koffing continued on the ground, Catherine had other ideas in mind. A Pokeball hurled towards the Koffing and engulfed it into its bright light. Yumina cheered, happy that another little friend would be added to the team and Pokedex. The ball fell to the floor and wiggled three times, of course it was going to be an easy capture as Koffing could do nothing more than think in the block of ice.
Hoping to save the wild Koffing from the icy doom the group had cast it into, Catherine threw an empty Pokeball with the intent to capture it. Falling to the floor and beginning the usual shaking routine, after a couple of moments, the ball clicked shut, alerting her to success. "W-We did it!" Catherine sighed in relief, dashing forward to collect the lone Pokeball. "Now that it is safe inside, maybe it will warm up and thaw out!" It was worth a shot, atleast it was better than leaving it out in the open for someone else to grab it. Pocketing the ball to keep it safe, she continued for now, atleast until she was able to come across a Pokemon Centre to heal the poor thing up. "But Yumina! That attack was even icier than usual. Have you been training without me?" Giggling with her Pokemon, she was certainly impressed, patting the Blissey warmly on the head.
"Now.. Let's push on! Yumina, you can come too! Follow closely though, okay?" The young girl marched ahead, with her trio of Pokemon following by her side. Yumina copied Catherine's march like walk to one side, whilst Atlas strolled with a bit of a swagger to his step on her opposite side. Marzena hovered behind the group, a tired, distant yawn escaping from her mouth. She was picking up on all sorts of negative beings, the very air down here had a poison twang which she didn't particularly like. Hoping that Catherine wouldn't be down here for too long, the Musharna continued to follow but otherwise, she'd end up resting back in her ball. For now, she kept a watch for potential opponents.
Yumina’s parroting of Catherine was quite cute, and many of the trainers in the tunnel awed at how strong of a bond they had. The Blissey was certainly a protege of the young girl. The normal type Pokemon’s unique stats were constantly being studied by Pokemon professors across the region, which lead to many of the trainers being silently jealous of this woman’s rare Pokemon. As the two were walking, a nerdy looking man with a large green costume strolled up next him.
“Wow this Pokemon is certainly rare!” He said, poking and prodding at Yumina, much to her dismay. This trainer was being awfully upfront about his interest in Catherine’s Pokemon, which was making Marzena quite irritated. Finally, he stopped messing with this poor nurturing Pokemon and got up from being hunched over. “My name is Issac, I’m a bit of a PokeManiac.” He let out a Lickitung, which was also quite the rare Pokemon. “I have a thesis regarding why pink Pokemon are the rarest and strongest of all Pokemon, would you like to battle?” Lickitung’s was quite bored and Yumina could tell that it was daydreaming.
Marching through the Underground Tunnel, both Catherine and Yumina were completely oblivious to the amount of looks they were receiving. Both good and bad, neither were really the type to care about what people thought of them but their way of thinking was more on a childish, naive level. Catherine's love and care which she showered on all of her Pokemon allowed them to trust in the young girl, sharing their power with her and together, making an incredible bond. Yumina was just one of those Pokemon in her possession but she aimed at making so many more friends and memories. The previously caught Koffing being an extra addition to that dream! But although they were oblivious to the looks of awe and glares of jealousy, Marzena floated behind them, taking it all in. A sensitive soul, she was trying her hardest to remain neutral and not lash out with her psychic powers.
But soon, the entire group became distracted, as an odd man in a suit approached them. Without a care in the world, he stepped towards Yumina and began to poke at the poor Blissey. Startled more than anything, the kind hearted Pokemon didn't move and allowed him to do so but Catherine soon stepped in. "Heehee, you bet'cha! There isn't another Blissey like her in the entire world, too!" Petting the top of her head, the Blissey staggered backward, moving away from the hand of the stranger and standing behind Catherine. "You sure dress funny! Are you trying to be a Pokemon? What kind?!" Trying to distract the stranger from Yumina, she smiled up at him, listening carefully as he introduced himself. "Then it's nice too meet'cha! My name is Catherine! This here is Yumina, this one is Marzena and this one is Atlas!" Though as she turned from introducing her Blissey and Musharna, the space where the Simisage once stood was now empty. Looking over her shoulder, she noticed the grass monkey was being fawned over by a group of girls, posing to impress them. "Ey, ey... Marzena, sort him out, will you?" Floating off, the Musharna went to retrieve the lagging Atlas.
"But a battle, huh? Sure! We can give you a good one!" Sticking up her thumb, she went to her bag and brought out another Pokemon, "This one isn't pink but he sure is cute. Come on out, Josuke!" With a flick of her wrist, a lone Pancham emerged from the flash of light. Standing coolly, he tried to act disinterested. "Jojo, don't be too hard on the Lickitung, okay? It is super cute after all!" Her cheeks slightly flushed, she did find herself loving her opponent's Pokemon. "How about we start off with an Arm Thrust? And then follow up with a Karate Chop! KA-POW!" Grunting, the small bear turned to face his opponent.
Sending in Pancham. Taking a gamble with Running Shoes and using Arm Thrust, then Karate Chop.
There was a moment of disappointment on the PokéManiac's face when Catherine didn't send out the gentle Yumina, but the little fuzzy bear that popped out of the ball was undeniably cute just as she said; putting the warm smile back on Isaac's face. "Oooh, what lovely coloring," he agreed, peering out from the overhang of the rhino suit engulfing his head. Lickitung lolled out its grand ol' tongue, curling and wiggling it in various shapes at the spunky woman's mention. Hearing Catherine's own commands Isaac thrust his own mitted hands through the air in mimicry of what he expected of the fighting pokémon, chuckling to himself.
"Let's get this show on the road! Come on Lickitung, let's give 'em a pink punch! Disable that fighting move and then go for a stomp." The man stomped his own two feet, back and forth in the bright green suit. The tail lobbed back and forth as his body swayed and the Lickitung pumped up its arms and widened its stance in preparation. But the little panda got into action first.
Josuke made a run forward, stubby little legs pattering across the tunnel floor. Once close he began winding both of his arms back, sliding in underneath the pink pokémon's massive tongue to smack the Lickitung in the leg once in passing. As Isaac's pokémon turned to try and catch up the speedy pancham brought his other arm to whap his opponent in the knee. The licking pokémon grumbled in displeasure, a hand coming down to rub the new sore spot, but as Jojo was busy watching the arm the tongue lathered him in a heap of disgusting, wet, sticky saliva. The gooey stank of morning breath sank into his fur and left a chilling disorienting feeling. It wasn't paralysis or freeze, or even confusion, it was just... almost as if he was too traumatized to to even consider trying that again.
It took a moment to recover from the wet kiss, Josuke standing there arms outstretched on either side dripping in spit, but eventually the head shake came to whip him back into the fight. Without further delay Jojo side stepped and jumped into the air. As he came down he delivered a solid Karate chop to Lickitung's head, causing quite the complaint from the pink pokémon. This time though Josuke had ensured he'd be out of that slimy tongue's way, but it did leave him at the mercy of the stout flat feet about to deliver a good stomp.
Lickitung | Level 25 | HP: 51% (45/87) Status: Normal Used Disable! Used Stomp!
Josuke | Level 24 | HP: 68% (50/73) Status: Arm Thrust Disabled! 2/6 Used Arm Thrust! Hit 2 times Used Karate Chop!
Not only did her opponent have a super cute and chunky Pokemon but he also had a battle-experienced head to boot. The Lickitung withstood the fighting blows from Josuke, who struck out with all of his might but they managed to turn the tables, stunning the poor Pancham to the point of him forgetting his own attack! Somewhat grossed out at the idea of having such a long tongue licking at her, Catherine couldn't begin to understand the trauma her Pancham had just faced. "It's okay, Josuke. It'll be okay." She muttered under her breath, pondering on how to remind her small bear of his useful attack. For now, she did have an alternative, at the very least and Josuke was more than happy to tear into the Lickitung with the Karate Chop, instead.
Landing the sharp blow directly to the Lickitung's head, the pink creature had a powerful attack of it's own, using its weight to slam back into the bear. Sliding across the ground and stopping just before Catherine, the young girl raised her head, managing a smile. "You two sure are something!" She complimented with a light clap of her hands, "We're going to have to try even harder to be able to beat you." Looking down to her Pancham, who was sneering with a curled lip at the Lickitung, Catherine cheered him on. "Push on, Josuke! Hit back with another Karate Chop, okay?" Pounding his two fists together, the Pancham stomped his little feet forward. Whilst Catherine herself knew that she would have to be a bit more careful, needing to prepare some medicine if necessary.
It seemed though the battle wasn't over. The little ball of fur didn't give up a fight easy. "Heh. Seems as though you are tougher than you look!" A large green covered claw rubbed against his rhino mask covered head. "But you're going to have to try harder if you think you're going to beat us!" He said repeating Catherine's words. He chuckled and as he did the green rhino mask slipped over his face and he had to push it up to be able to see again.
"Alright Lickitung, use Stomp again and squish the little Bear." Issac was going to prove that he had what is takes to be a PokeManiac. Issac had also hoped that the last set of rounds had taken out some of the little panda's gumption in battle but it quickly took off on it's little feet seeking to land an attack on Lickitung.
Josuke picked up speed quickly, his eyes focused on the pink blob of skin across from him. As he got closer the small panda took no hesitation and jumped into the air and landed a solid Karate Chop to the spot where Lickitungs head met his shoulder. Stunning the Lickitung for a moment as it tried to regain it's bearings. It took a moment but the pink pokemon relocated the little panda and moved hastily in uncoordinated leaps. Getting close it lifted up it's left leg and came down hard on the panda who had been unable to move quick enough out of the bumbling pokemons way before it's foot landed in a good stomping.

Josuke | Level 24 | HP: 38% (28/73) Status: Arm Thrust Disabled! 3/6 Used Karate Chop!
"I can say the same right back at'cha!" Catherine responded with a brief giggle, pointing her finger towards the Pokemon trainer and his Lickitung. Both sides were certainly hanging on but for Josuke, he wanted this to be over already. The Pancham held his paws loosely on his waist, as if resting them in pockets, curling his top lip irately at his pink opponent. The Lickitung was solid and no matter how many times he would strike out, it just wouldn't fall! Plus, getting stomped on all the time by a foe with so much weight was draining his energy. Deep down, he could feel himself growing even more tired. If he didn't end this quickly then he would surely lose, he didn't want Catherine or her other Pokemon to see him in that situation. He wanted to become strong. "Heehee, don't be silly! I trust Josuke so SO much, I know he can win!"
Chiming in over the noise of the battle, the Pancham glanced back over his shoulder, eyes wide at his trainers words. Even Yumina was cheering for him and that brief sight gave him the strength to push on. "Don't get squished, Josuke! Keep going with your Karate Chop! Right on the noggin!" Gesturing for her Pancham to knocked the Lickitung out with another Karate Chop to the head, the tiny bear prepared himself for another round of attacks.
Stomping around in his bizarre dinosaur themed costume, the trainer was starting to get an inkling that his theorem on pink Pokémon being the strongest and toughest around was starting to fall flat. "NNnnnnnnnnngh! Not yet! Lickitung can still make a comeback! Unleash another Stomp!" Despite his fervour, the lithe panda bear was simply too agile to let the trainer's champion go first. Bounding forward, the Pancham leapt into the air and using the downward gravity to help boost his impact, struck out his paw into a flat out strike. Donking the chameleon like beast on the top of the head, it let out a flail and a pathetic cry before it stumbled about and went crashing into a nearby dustbin that was located in the tunnel. "Well phooey! Guess i'm going to have to rethink my thesis..." Mumbled the PokéManiac.
Josuke | Level 24 | HP: 38% (28/73) Status: Arm Thrust Disabled! 4/6 Used Karate Chop!

Recalling his Pokémon and stomping forward as is mimicking an ancient prehistoric monster, he dug deep into his costume pockets and handed her a rather princely sum of Pokedollars. "A loss is a loss. A victory, a victory. And to the victor goes the spoils." Placing the money in her hand rather awkwardly as he fought with his costume, he looked up, pushing up his mask as it began to droop over his face once more. "Don't worry. I've got tons of funds. I'll simply chalk this up as part of my budget on the thesis i'm writing. Nothing like being university funded. So long!" Stomping off and seemingly making angry roars as if a dinosaur, it was perhaps one of the weirder encounters Catherine had bumped into.
PokéManiac Isaac was defeated! They hand over £770! Score!
Bounding forward, Josuke the Pancham refused to lose to such a large, pink, chunky beast like the Lickitung. It had a reputation to uphold as a tough Pokemon, so losing to a foe like this was out of the question. Unfortunately, he didn't have the skills to be able to heal his own wounds but that didn't mean that the small bear would roll over quietly. Instead, he would defeat this opponent before any more damage could be thrown his way. Paws at the ready, he bit down on the leaf hanging from his mouth and with a movement of pure precision, struck the Lickitung head on. Trembling, the now dizzy foe tripped and staggered, a gasp escaping from Catherine's lips as she watched the pink creature fall against a nearby trash can.
Folding his arms, the Pancham wore a subtle smirk, pleased with himself and his victory. Clapping her hands together once, Catherine was also overjoyed, even if she did feel quite bad for the Lickitung. "And that is the strength of my sweet, little Josuke!" Swaying her head from side to side, she watched and waited for the reaction of her opponent, looking up at the taller, costume clad man as he stomped closer toward her. Cupping her hands together, she accepted the victory money before sticking out her tongue playfully, "You sure are strong, though! I am certain your thesis will only get better now!" Pocketing the cash, she raised her arm and waved him off before turning toward her winning Pokemon. Crouching down to be more of his height, the aspiring nurse grinned before rubbing a hand under his chin. Particularly protective of his fur, it was safer to not pat him. "Looks like you learnt quite a bit from that battle. Your moves are so slick and lightning fast. I bet your attacks are even stronger now!"
Grinning from the compliments, Josuke lifted a thumbs up, quickly running his paws across his face to fix any misplaced patches of fur. "Now then, team, lets push on!" Noting that Atlas had caught up after a silently eerie stare from Marzena, Catherine returned her Pancham back into his ball for a job well done and continued to venture through the Goldenrod Underground. Whether it was more trainers or a wild Pokemon, she wanted to focus a bit more time into levelling up her team and helping them to become the best that they could be, in preparation for their future match against Whitney.
