Name: Ethan Summers
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Trainer Type: Conflicted, very battle minded
Hometown: Seafolk Village on Poni Island, Alola
Appearance: Like his cousin Ethan has green hair, a trait that runs strongly in the family it appears. The spiky hair style is a leftover from his rebellious phase. Fair skinned with a pale complexion, this comes into contrast with his crystal blue eyes and colorful hair. None of these traits gives much away when it comes to his birthplace or native region. Ethan is generally of average weight and height for his age, 130 pounds and about 5, 8 feet tall. He is a bit lanky and relaxed in his posture, supporting the image of an undisciplined and lazy teenager, with clothes several sizes too big for him, pants hanging low. No doubt that underneath it all is a fine young man with handsome features, a sharp jaw and high cheekbones on a nice oval face, but the untidy hair and lax attitude detracts from it, rather than enhance it.
Ethan does not have any trademark clothes and his style is more comfort than fashion with worn-out jeans and equally worn-out shoes. His t-shirts are at least one size too big for him and often worn along with a hoodie in the same dark color scheme to put over it when it is chilly outside. Over his shoulder he carries a black bag with pokeballs, snacks, IPod with big old headphones and other crucial items for travelling. In terms of jewelry he owns nothing and is more modern, carrying the latest pokemon tech instead of a watch among other things. The prints on his bag and clothes reflect this affiliation logo’s from famous technology brands, of course he also owns his fair share of items with pokemon and rebellious slogans.
Personality: On the surface Ethan seems to be just another rebellious teenager, all sarcasm and barely hidden disdain for anything that even remotely resembles an authority figure. He puts up a front of being distant and indifferent, nothing can touch him. But if you can look past being brushed off by someone who puts up the appearance of having enough in himself and his pokemon, because let’s face it, he is scared to open up to people again, still feeling the sting of not being believed by the people he assumed was his friends. Then you find a young man with a lot of passion and a sharp mind when it comes to battling, he just lacks direction and this becomes very obvious when his world views are challenged. Ethan still clings to the idea that strength equals power and if you just becomes strong enough everything else will work out, so it will be interesting to see how Ethan will handle the discovery that with great power comes great responsibility.
Ethan has always struggled with a feeling of abandoned, growing up without the mother he so desperately needed. However this has turned into some of the more positive defining qualities of his. Like loyalty to his pokemon and those he calls friends, even if that loyalty is sometimes misplaced, he gladly take the blame or keep a secret to keep a friend out of trouble, no one is left behind or without support where he is concerned. Others are kindness and caring, especially with his pokemon who he pushes and trains hard, yet at the end of the day he tend to their needs before his own. Maybe if Ethan could meet other people with the same open mind that he does pokemon he would finally make some real friends.
History: Ethan grew up on a boat around the Alola Islands with his dad and home has never been a fixed place for Ethan, but rather where the heart is and secretly deep down he hopes to find a place or people that he can settle down with someday. Him and his father never talked very much about his mother since it always seemed to put his father in a melancholic mood, so all he knows is that she passing away when he was very young and he can’t really remember her, that smiling young woman in the pictures is nothing but a stranger. As long as he can remember they have made a living on doing odd jobs, transporting people or goods between the Islands, fishing and even taking on longer trips to other regions and it influenced his upbringing in a more multicultural direction, new things and challenges don’t scare him, but facing the consequences of your action and not running away from your problems, that is where Ethan struggles.
So around the time he turned 10 he was old enough to get enrolled at the pokemon school and they even got a little house, of course his dad still had to work, but Ethan was an independent boy and the neighbors was kind enough to look after him. At school Ethan worked hard putting all that knowledge he had gained from travelling to good use impressing his teachers, but his nature could not be denied and too soon he became restless and impatient pushing his teachers to put a good word in for him, so he could try and become a Trail Captain. They could see his potential, but it was also very clear that he was not ready yet and that the title was just another new thing. In turn Ethan began to grow frustrated seeing his classmates go on and become finding their place in the world, it turned him bitter and angry. Soon he was skipping school and hanging out with members of a new group called Team Skull, whom seemed to have the freedom Ethan wanted in his life, rebelling against the status quo and answering to no one. For a time Ethan belonged, secretly dropping out of school and raising hell against his former class mates, showing off his battle skills and proving just how wrong everyone had been about him.
Had it not been for that message that he was not meant to see while looking for his buddies at the hangout, the one stating blank on white that they were not rebels, just pawns in a much larger game. That night he confronted one of his closest friends with these information and not only did they not believe him, they wanted to turn him warned him about spreading such lies. Ethan turned to the only person he had left, his father was not overly pleased to discover any of this, but he agreed that it was properly for the best that Ethan got away from Alola, his uncle and aunt in New Bark Town offer him a place to stay with his pokemon. The local professor offered him a pokedex to record some of the local pokemon, hoping that it would help take the young mans mind of the past.
It has been two weeks and Ethan is bored out of his mind, time for an adventure and to see what this Region has to offer.
Goals: Adventure of course, find himself again, prove that he can be a good trainer, maybe discover something about his mother.
Other Info: Ariel, Remus, Medea, Ares, Nightwing and Demetria will make up his team.
