Sun shining, fields blooming, trees rustling in the gentle gusts... Just the perfect summer's day, bathing Lucan's face in sunlight, as he got out of the Professor's Lab carrying Biollante, the female Bulbasaur, in his arms. He looked at green of forests surrounding New Bark, and then at the green of his little partner. She was tapping his chest with a leg, making a low pitched sound similar to purring. "Hum... I think you got confused, little girl. You're not a Skitty, you know?" Lucan grinned, and tickled the back of Biollante's ear. She rolled bizarrelly in his arms, and fell down, trying in vain to land on all fours. She got more or less two and half right, then tumbled forward. Lucan rolled his eyes up: "... This is gonna be a long journey.""So..." he looked at the Pokémon, playing with her Pokéball in his hand and showing it: "You gonna rest here, or get on walking?"Biollante took a couple of steps away from the Ball, grunting. "And free air it is." approved Lucan, putting the Ball away in his belt bag. He started walking towards the beginning of Route 29, followed by Biollante, Mount Silver on the horizon behind him, and the future forward. For a moment, he tought of getting the map out, but he already knew where to go next: Cherrygrove City was his destination, and even before, Route 29 and its wild Pokémon, the first friends and foes of the epic to come. Then again... "Biollante, come here!" he gestured to her, and the Bulbasaur got close, curious. Lucan was sitting on the grass beside the street, and he took out his map, speaking to the Pokémon: "A commander should share the plan with his troops, so it's only fair you should know where are we heading, my soldier."Biollante looked back perplexed, but she got close to map anyway, and tried to understand it. "This, my friend, is a map: by looking at these, you can have the whole world in your hand! And trust me... soon we shall!"She made a sound between a croak and a burp, and then lied down, eyes wide open and legs stretched out. Lucan blinked, mouth open in disbelief: "You just had to ruin this, did ya?"This time, she definitely burped. "I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
that music hath a far more pleasing sound..."
recited Lucan, sarcastically: "And here I tought I got a lady."He looked at the Pokémon, who was still looking curiously at the map, seemingly considering if it was edible. He sighed and pointed at the map: "Ok, lost cause: we are here. Gotta go there. Place is named Cherrygrove, lots of flowers, you'll like it."Biollante seemed to gargle happily. "Am I late for a refund?" muttered Lucan. But he was smiling The boy got up on his feet. That Pokémon did seem quite bizarre in character, but he felt he could trust her. And on a journey like this, that was everything. He put the map away and got the notebook. The only thing he needed before leaving was the proper starting verse. Once again, he looked at Biollante: "So... some heroes we are. The young adventurer with the bulk of a Bellsprout, and his female plant lizard frog... thingy."She frowned, waiting to know where he was going with that. Biollante was young, but had already a good enough understanding of human language. "Well..." smiled Lucan, a flash in his blue-green eyes: "You know what that means? That if we do manage to get this going, we'll be more epic than anyone else!"He clenched his fist in an exalted way, while Biollante let out a happy cry. Then, he blushed immediately: his voice had been quite loud during the last sentence, and a couple of people down the street had turned with a perplexed look. Lucan turned his back, embarassed. Biollante seemed to be having a lot of fun. "Yeah, laugh more. Would you go on when I turn you to salad?" Lucan grinned ominously. Bulbasaur cowered, with a soft shriek. "I guessed so." Lucan chuckled: "Come on, buddy. Joking here. Now, the verse..."
Lucan caught sight of a sign with New Bark's motto at the beginning of Route 29. He smiled, opening the notebook, and the pen was quick. "Tell me of the Trainer of many devices, O Meloetta, you who stories sing... speak of the winds of a new beginning, to Cherrygrove, in the summer breeze..."He paused for a second, considering how to go on and include Biollante in the next verses... A gust of wind blew from behind the Trainer and Pokémon, towards Route 29, as if suggesting the way to go. Lucan was quick to get the "message." "Ok, ok, i get it... I'll go on later. At least, it's officially begun. So, Biollante, you ready?"She nodded, and scampered towards him, a fierce look in her red eyes. "Well, then... alea jacta est. Off we go!!" And off they went, taking the path of Route 29, caressed by the sun, accompanied by each other and dreams of glory, heading bravely towards the first patch of tall grass. With a final, bold look, Lucan entered it. Whatever wild Pokémon was waiting for them, Lucan was ready for a true epic first encounter. Lucan speakingLucan's written verses

An ideal day to set out into the humming wild, alive in both sound and color with a cloud dotted sky and bright sun watching from above. A light breeze carried along as a gentle relief to the rays when following the middle of the path, but further to the sides where the grass grew thick it was the line of thick trees that offered shade and a fresh and hushed air. Just what would attract a budding trainer, for the more untamed sections of the routes held a better chance to encounter wild pokémon. Whether for training up an existing team member or to add to it was always part of the surprise of the encounter. A trainer's life was certainly never boring. Notebook in hand, verses swirling through his mind, Lucan and Biollante broke into the long trail of grass eyes sharp and ears primed. There were definitely hints of near pokémon, but the sea of green that was laid before them on Route 29 only stirred with a brush of the wind. Though, just as it seemed the pair would have to reconsider the section of wilderness to explore the canopy erupted in a flurry of noise. "SPEAARRROOW!"The shriek was razor edged, a rage of feather cutting through the canopy and leaving a rain of fluttering leaves just ahead. There was another sound, a chuckle of sorts laced with the soft hiss of another pokémon's call. Gaze darting up Lucan would spot a brown fuzz ball with a long tail skittering quickly from branch to branch, jumping from each like a spring board, with the enraged bird hot on its heels. The two were coming closer, the avian doing well to leave a burst of leaves in its wake as it desperately pursued the bunny eared scout pokémon giggling away. It had something in its hand, Lucan could see as the sentret got closer above them. Bright and blue, perhaps a berry? Soon, though, the playful thief found a knothole and scampered into it, blocking part of the entrance with a loose scrap of bark. Spearow reached the limb and pecked and scratched but was only rewarded with the mocking chant of the other wild pokémon. The bird's stomach wrenched with hunger and its temper was well above boiling. The small spearow flailed again at the entrance, knocking small bits of the blockade off, but in its careless thrashing it lost its balance and fell from the tree. Though it caught itself before it contacted the ground, as it corrected into a hover Spearow's eyes locked onto the innocent bystander. Another furious cry cut through the air targeting the trainer. Up above a pair of ears poked out from the knot, munching away on something and watching below. A hungry young Spearow (LV 2) is lashing out! What will Lucan do? Send a pokémon into battle? Lucan blinked, frozen on the spot for a moment. At his side, Biollante was curious and nervous at a time, and stepped forward. Lucan glanced at her. He had to be quick on his wits for this.
With a deep breath, the boy recalled what he knew about Spearows, and their aggressive character. It was a matter of seconds before the frustrated Pokémon got angry at him as well. He smiled. A pretty epic hissy fit for a berry stolen by a Sentret. In an instant, he liked the Pokémon's temper. Lucan swallowed, and grinned. It was time for an honorable warrior to talk to another.
"Oh, hi, little one! I hope you understand me, because I know how you feel. I'd feel the same if someone just stole my food, actually."
As he was talking, he reached for his belt bag, but then remembered. He had planned to buy food at Cherrygrove later that day, and so there was only the smallest chance he had a bit of leftover bread in the backpack. Knowing himself, he wouldn't bet on it. No, he had to win Spearow over some other way. Looking at it, Lucan noticed how fierce Spearow looked, despite being so clearly hungry and a quite ruffled. Somehow, that felt familiar. On this train of thought, Lucan imagined for a second its hard labor in search for a berry, and what he could have felt seeing an earned meal snatched from it. He blushed for a second, with a flash of empathy and anger.
The boy looked at the Pokémon, eyes ablaze, a grin on his face, avoiding direct eye contact in order to not anger it. As he spoke, he dearly hoped that the Pokémon was somewhat familiar with human language. "In fact, what about we teach a lesson to that greasy thief... Together?"

I did not accidentally make a new post instead of editing my reservation... that's your imagination playing tricks on you. :cSpearow continued to cry out angrily for a couple of seconds, but soon actually registered what the young trainer was saying. Lucan's kind words seemed to surprise the little Spearow. Most trainers would've immediately reached for their Pokéballs here, but this one seemed... different. Spearow stared at the teenager with a confused expression on its face, slowly lowering itself to the ground while it thought through its options. It really wasn't sure how to handle this. Its nature was telling it to peck the fingers off of this human, but its limited intelligence was fighting with that part quite insistently. It wanted to trust the human. More importantly, it wanted revenge on that thieving Sentret. Spearow hopped forward gently, tilting its head from side to side as it approached Lucan. Spearow stood there for a moment, before giving a loud caw of "SPEAR!". It nodded its head, something akin to a smile forming across the little bird's face. It turned itself around to look toward the knot that currently housed the little scoundrel of a Sentret. The ears twitched as attention turned toward them, making a loud munching noise as if to taunt their victim. Far from pleased, Spearow took flight again, ascending to return to the branch from which it had fallen not too long ago and carried on attacking the blockade that Sentret had set up for itself. The ears quickly shrunk back inside with an excited squeal, the thief happily chittering away to itself. Spearow looked a little calmer now, though, and was keeping its balance quite well as it assaulted the Sentret's makeshift hideout. Before long, the irate little bird had pecked a hole in the barricade. This only prompted Sentret to take action, however. The little scout burst out of the hole with shocking speed, leaving Spearow for dead as it jumped from branch to branch and fled from the immediate vicinity. Spearow cried out in fury, hopping around unhappily and once again losing its balance. Quickly righting itself in the air and hovering there for a moment, it called over to Lucan loudly, pointing in the direction that Sentret had fled. It seemed that it wanted the human to make good on his words earlier and help out here. Before Lucan could reply, though, Spearow flew off in that same direction. It wouldn't take much to guess what Spearow's goal was, really.
The Sentret has run off into the distance, with Spearow giving chase! Will Lucan follow the pair?

Lucan clenched his fist with a nervous smile, looking at Biollante for a second. "Well, it went better than expected! Come on, little girl, we got a thief to catch!!" With that said, the Trainer started running after Spearow, a glimpse of verses resounding in his brain.
He soon realized that composing and running don't exactly go well together, and expressed that feeling by swearing rather colourfully as he almost fell to the ground by hitting a large root. After him, Biollante was running on all fours, quite enthusiast if a little perplexed herself. One thing was apparent already to the Grass Pokémon. Her human companion was probably a lot of weird things, but boring wasn't one of them.
Keeping his eye on the Spearow, Lucan went on running, hoping the chase would be brief enough. Considering they were helping a flying Pokémon chase a rather agile terrestrial one, and that Bulbasaur was not a top tier runner herself, the boy was quite worried on that regard. However, his eyes flashed cold with determination, because one thing was clear to him. Heroes DO NOT surrender. And if there was one physical quality he had, Lucan told himself... it was endurance! "Keep going, Biollante!! I'll carry you if need be, but try your best!" the boy screamed, only to find himself panting for air a split second later.
Cheeks flaming red, hat about to fall, the young boy looked up once more, praying that the chase was finally over. He found the Spearow, still in the air, a bit further ahead. Had Sentret stopped? Lucan could only get closer to know...

Spearow and the elusive Sentret continued to make their way through the area for a few minutes, weaving and winding through tree after tree with no obvious end in sight. Thankfully, Spearow was lagging behind enough that Lucan would be able to see the Flying type in the distance for most of the journey. The angry little bird cawed loudly every half a minute or so, as if trying to slow down the Sentret. Each time, though, the thief simply chittered in excitement. The little Normal type was clearly enjoying every second of this chase. Eventually, Lucan would spot a clearing in the distance. As he and his partner arrived at the clearing, they'd find Spearow touching down onto the ground opposite not one, but two Sentret. One of them, a little smaller than the other, held a half-eaten stump of a berry in its hand. With some kind of blue substance all over its mouth, it wasn't hard to guess which one was the culprit from earlier. This little one was shouting in a panicked tone to its peer, who looked concerned and furious in equal measures. It would be impossible to make out exactly what the duo were talking about, but guesses could perhaps be made by the reactions of the larger Sentret. This one kept shooting irate glares at Spearow, and Lucan as he arrived for that matter. Once it had finished with its speech, the smaller Sentret glanced back to see Spearow and Lucan standing there and smirked. With what sounded like a gleeful chuckle, the Normal type tossed the last mouthful of its berry up into the air teasingly and swallowed it whole. Spearow had seen enough. It charged forward with an angered cry, ready to finish this business once and for all. Unfortunately, the bigger Sentret had other plans. It jumped out in defence of its friend, tackling Spearow out of the way with a threatening growl. Well, as much as a Sentret ever really "growls". The angry Scout Pokémon stepped forward toward Spearow, pumping its fists together in a manner that one could only possibly describe as "aggressive". Spearow glared up at its new opponent, trying to muster up the strength to fight back but to no avail. The smaller Sentret watched the developments excitedly, enjoying the spectacle that it had caused.
A Sentret (Level 4) is clearly getting the better of Spearow! Will Lucan and Biollante intervene? (To be clear, Lucan can give an order to Biollante immediately here if he wants to jump in. Just giving you the choice here, that's all.)

Lucan shouted the order to his partner as soon as he started to slow down his run. "Cover him, Biollante! Growl as well!!" he uttered, while the female Bulbasaur ran to put himself between the bigger Sentret and the cornered Spearow. With just a bit of gasping and panting, Lucan finally stopped, cheeks even redder than usual. "The hell is happening he... oh!" With a quick glance, he assessed the situation. The boy glared at the thieving Sentret, and his expression went harsh, but he couldn't quite focus on him. The bigger one was clearly the most concerning as of now. He breathed deep. He had to take care of that. "Spearow!" he started, knowing he couldn't order the Pokémon anything, but hoping it was willing to listen: "You take care of the thief, it's your fight! I'll keep the big bro off of you, so you can focus!" He clenched his fist, blood flaming in his veins: "Let's do this!!"
Then, he stopped, blinking for a second and sighed in frustration at his own distraction. Had Biollante's attack worked? There really was too much stuff going on today...

With Lucan making his presence well and truly known, the bigger Sentret had little choice but to at least acknowledge him. It glanced over briefly with its best 'roll over and die' stare. Charming young critter, isn't it? Sentret started to make a move toward Spearow, but Biollante quickly got in between the two of them. Spearow slowly rose to its feet, encouraged by the new support. It took a while to mull over what Lucan had just told it, seemingly still a little wary of the human and his motives. However, as Biollante carried on guarding it, Spearow apparently realised that it was safe for the time being, no matter what might happen later. Spearow looked around for the thieving Sentret, who had already started running for cover by the time Lucan had finished speaking. Spearow's Keen Eyes immediately latched onto the youngster, and it produced a threatening caw in the thief's direction. Sentret dived into some nearby bushes to hide and watch from a distance, but Spearow wasn't about to let it get away. It started toward the foliage, only to be yelled at by Big Sentret (for that is now its name, I suppose). Spearow backed down, remembering the hit from earlier and not willing to risk taking another blow just yet. It continued to glare over at the bushes, though, waiting for its chance to make the little one pay. Said "little one" poked its eyes out of the bushes, watching in grim anticipation as its friend fought bravely for it. Between Spearow and its unexpected oppressor, Biollante knew that he had to protect this one as best as he could. The little Bulbasaur announced its intentions with a fierce snarl, which bounced across the clearing almost as if it were an empty cavern. Big Sentret flinched, covering its ears while the attack carried on. The Growl apparently proved a little too much for it, though, as the Normal type rolled itself up into a tight ball to defend itself. Spearow started to make a move toward Little Sentret (these names are awful...), who simply shrieked once again to alert its friend. Big Sentret unfurled as quickly as it had wrapped itself up and merely glared at Spearow. The angered bird was now calm enough to know when it should give up, and stopped in its tracks once more. Lucan bit his lip in thought, slightly annoyed. That was most probably a Defense Curl by the Sentret, he knew that much. By now, both Pokémon would deal less damage to the opponent, but with no option to increase Biollante's power, Lucan had to go on the offensive, before the Sentret got too sturdy. He believed in Biollante's strenght, and this was the first occasion to test it out! "Let's put some pressure! Tackle, Biollante!!" he shouted fiercely, the glimpse of a verse starting to rise in his mind... it was not the time yet, but soon he would be singing of their first, glorious victory!
The boy glanced at Spearow, on the sidelines of the battle, wondering what was it thinking, and if the time would come for them to truly fight together. It didn't seem like it and the other Sentret were about to do much as long as the main duel went on, so Lucan wasn't worried about the thief getting away now... but he sure was nervous about having to keep an eye out for that as well.
As of now, though, there was no time to think. Just the heat of the battle. Heart flaming, Lucan held his fist up in front of his face... it was time to see how the game played out.

The sentret saw the tackle coming, but before it could dodge it got slammed. This was not what it was hoping for. Meanwhile, the Sentret was now so distracted by the Bulbasaur it let off a Tackle of it's own. The spearow ruffled its feathers and continued to glare at the smaller sentret, fierce eyes boring holes into the younger raccoon. If only that was enough to enact its revenge for stealing the bird's food. It was all up to Biollante now- to knock out the other sentret.Battle Weather: ClearBig Sentret | Level 4 HP: 85% Status: +1 Defence, -1 Attack Was hit by Tackle used Tackle! VS
